When the battery or supercapacitor is connected to the output of a PV system, the conventional voltage equation expressing its mathematical model usually must be replaced by the current relationship to study the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control theory. However, hitherto, there is a lack of an attempt to disclose the current constraint relationships at the maximum power point (MPP), which leads to the potential risk of MPPT failure. To solve this problem, in this paper, the MPPT constraint conditions on the basis of currents are built and then a new MPPT control strategy is proposed. In this strategy, a linearized model parameter of a PV cell is used as the bridge to find the current relationships. On the basis of them, some expressions involving the duty cycle are built to directly calculate the control signal of the MPPT controller. Meanwhile, an implementation method is designed to match this proposed MPPT strategy. Finally, some simulation experiments are conducted. The simulation results verify that the proposed MPPT constraint expressions are accurate and workable and that the proposed MPPT strategy and its implementation process are feasible and available. In addition, the simulation results also show that the proposed MPPT strategy has a better MPPT speed and the same MPPT accuracy when the P&O method and fuzzy algorithm are compared. By this work, the MPPT constraint conditions based on current relationships are first found, representing a breakthrough in disclosing the inherent relationships between different currents when the PV system is operating around the MPP. This research aims to implement an already developed algorithm to obtain the maximum power transfer of a solar generation field based on a dynamic approach. The study addresses the sizing of the load to be supplied, which is a residential building. On the other hand, it also considers the field sizing as a function of the load and the operating characteristics of the selected inverter. The irradiance data correspond to the hourly record of a station that is part of the network of meteorological stations in Quito. Quito was chosen as the location for this research due to the optimization algorithm's practical application and the availability of experimental equipment. The demand sizing is based on the regulations of the distribution company with jurisdiction in the area, which makes it a suitable test bed for the algorithm. The optimization algorithm is developed using Python (version 3.9), and the analysis of the behavior of the solar panels is performed by dynamic modeling using the Vensim software (version 10.1.2). Finally, comparative results are presented between using and not using the investigated circuit and algorithm in the photovoltaic system, obtaining an improvement in the generation over a system without the use of these improvements, validating these results by implementing them in a test system, obtaining ranges higher than 10% of the initially generated power. This paper presents the design of a digital twin for a 6U CubeSat electrical power system, including the solar arrays, solar array regulators, battery, power distribution unit, and load subsystems. The digital twin is validated by comparing its real-time outputs with those of the physical system. Experimental tests confirm its feasibility, showing that the digital twin's real-time outputs closely match those of the physical system. Additionally, the digital twin can be used for control-hardware-in-the-loop and power-hardware-in-the-loop tests, allowing the real-time integration of simulated subsystems with hardware. This capability facilitates testing of new subsystems and optimization during the project's development phases. Additionally, to demonstrate the advanced capabilities of this model, the digital twin is used to simulate the CubeSat electrical power system behavior in real time throughout a complete orbital cycle in low Earth orbit conditions. This simulation provides valuable insights into the CubeSat operation by capturing the transient and steady-state responses of the EPS components under real orbital conditions. The results obtained indicate that the digital twin significantly enhances the testing and optimization process of new subsystems during the development phases of the project. Moreover, the capabilities of the digital twin can be further augmented by incorporating real-time telemetry data from the CubeSat, resulting in a highly accurate replication of the satellite's in-orbit behavior. The "double carbon" policy promotes an increasing ratio of new energy installation and generation capacity annually, reducing system inertia and rendering the grid-forming (GFM) power grid increasingly susceptible to frequency fluctuations and other issues. This paper designs a power–frequency controller for grid-forming distributed photovoltaic systems by integrating LADRC and VSG control, aiming to enhance system robustness and stability under disturbances or faults. Furthermore, this study introduces the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm based on LADRC principles to optimize LADRC, thereby improving the robustness and stability of grid-forming distributed photovoltaic systems to a certain extent. With its technical advantages of high speed, low latency, and broad connectivity, fifth-generation mobile communication technology has brought about unprecedented development in numerous vertical application scenarios. However, the high energy consumption and expansion difficulties of 5G infrastructure have become the main obstacles restricting its widespread application. Therefore, aiming to optimize the energy utilization efficiency of 5G base stations, a novel distributed photovoltaic 5G base station DC microgrid structure and an energy management strategy based on the Curve Fitting–Perturb and Observe–Incremental Conductance (CF-P&O-INC) Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm from the perspectives of energy and information flows are proposed. Simulation results show that the proposed MPPT algorithm can increase the efficiency to 99.95% and 99.82% under uniform irradiation and partial shading, respectively. Under the proposed strategy, when the base station load changes drastically, the voltage fluctuation of the DC bus is less than 1.875%, and returns to a steady state within 0.07s, alleviating the high energy consumption of 5G base stations effectively and achieving coordinated optimization management of various types of energy in multi-source power supply systems. Partial shading conditions can cause low output power, hotspots, and a reduced lifespan in photovoltaic arrays. Interconnection (IC) and differential power processing (DPP) can be used to mitigate these effects. When individually applied to an array, these techniques can significantly increase the generated power. A few authors studied the combined use of these schemes under specific conditions such as large-scale arrays or a complex combination of several techniques, making it difficult to identify the individual contribution of each technique. Here, we aimed to determine whether the combined use of a switching-inductor DPP circuit and a total-cross-tied interconnection scheme presents better performance than each standalone technique, using a small-scale photovoltaic array. An array was tested using IC, DPP, and a combination of both techniques, and the array was subjected to 13 shading patterns and two irradiance levels. The performance in each case was assessed using maximum output power, performance ratio, mismatch power loss, and power enhancement indicators. The results showed that a standalone differential power processing circuit presents better performance than when it is combined with an interconnection. The DPP showed performance ratio values of up to 97%, mismatch power losses lower than 36.9%, and a power enhancement of up to 95.9%. In response to challenges such as voltage limit violations, excessive currents, and power imbalances caused by the integration of distributed photovoltaic (distributed PV) systems into the distribution network, this study proposes at two-level optimization configuration method. This method effectively balances the grid capacity and reduces the active power losses, thereby decreasing the operating costs. The upper-level optimization enhances the distribution network's capacity by determining the siting and sizing of distributed PV devices. The lower-level aims to reduce the active power losses, improve the voltage stability margins, and minimize the voltage deviations. The upper-level planning results, which include the siting and sizing of the distributed PV, are used as initial conditions for the lower level. Subsequently, the lower level feeds back its optimization results to further refine the configuration. The model is solved using an improved second-order oscillating chaotic map particle swarm optimization algorithm (SCMPSO) combined with a second-order relaxation method. The simulation experiments on an improved IEEE 33-bus test system show that the SCMPSO algorithm can effectively reduce the voltage deviations, decrease the voltage fluctuations, lower the active power losses in the distribution network, and significantly enhance the power quality. The increasing participation of photovoltaic sources in power grids presents the challenge of enhancing power quality, which is affected by the intrinsic characteristics of these sources, such as variability and lack of inertia. This power quality degradation mainly generates variations in both voltage magnitude and frequency, which are more pronounced in microgrids. In fact, the magnitude problem is particularly present in the distribution systems, where photovoltaic sources are spread along the grid. Due to the power converter's lack of inertia, frequency problems can be seen throughout the network. Grid-forming control strategies in photovoltaic systems have been proposed to address these problems, although most proposed solutions involve either a direct voltage source or energy storage systems, thereby increasing costs. In this paper, a photovoltaic injection system is designed with a virtual synchronous machine control strategy to provide voltage and frequency support to the grid. The maximum power point tracking algorithm is adapted to provide the direct voltage reference and inject active power according to the droop frequency control. The control strategy is validated through simulations and key experimental setup tests. In this paper, an improved Beluga Whale Optimization algorithm based on data mining and scheduling rules with AdaBoost(IBWO-DDR-AdaBoost) rule heuristic scheduling method for solving job-shop scheduling problems (JSP) is proposed, in which data mining-extracted dispatching rules are incorporated into the heuristic algorithm to guide the optimization process. Firstly, an AdaBoost-CART integrated learning algorithm is introduced to evolve dispatching knowledge from historical data and convert it into effective dispatching rules. Secondly, in order to address the issues of local optimality and slow convergence speed faced by the beluga whale optimization algorithm (BWO) when solving JSP, this study presents an improved beluga whale optimization algorithm (IBWO) that incorporates two enhancement mechanisms: a neighborhood search strategy based on greedy thinking and genetic operators. These enhancements aim to improve both the efficiency and quality of reconciliation in scheduling, ultimately leading to better scheduling schemes. Furthermore, the extracted scheduling rules obtained through the AdaBoost-CART integrated learning algorithm are embedded into the improved beluga optimization algorithm, enabling real-time solution updates for optimized schedules. Finally, extensive simulation tests are conducted on JSP benchmark examples of varying scales with minimizing maximum completion time as the objective function for schedule optimization. The simulation results demonstrate the significant advantages of our proposed IBWO-DDR-AdaBoost rule heuristic scheduling method in terms of accuracy, performance optimization, and convergence speed. This paper proposes a Symmetric High Voltage-Gain (SHVG) boost converter control for photovoltaic system applications. The concept is based on a multilevel boost converter configuration, which presents an advantage compared to a classic boost converter such as the ability to transfer a high amount of power with less stress on the power electronics components in the high voltage-gain conditions. This advantage allows the power losses in the converter to be reduced. A mathematical-based voltage model of the PV system using variable series resistance depending on solar irradiance and the temperature is proposed. This model is connected to an SHVG boost converter to supply the load's power. A control strategy of the DC-bus voltage with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) from the PV system using PI controllers is developed. The contributions of the paper are focused on the SHVG operating analysis with the passive components' sizing, and the DC-bus voltage control with maximum power point tracking of the PV systems in dynamic operating conditions. The transition to a low-carbon economy is one of the main challenges of our time. In this context, solar energy, along with many other technologies, has been developed to optimize performance. For example, solar trackers follow the sun's path to increase the generation capacity of photovoltaic plants. However, several factors need consideration to further optimize this process. Important variables include the distance between panels, surface reflectivity, bifacial panels, and climate variations throughout the day. Thus, this paper proposes an artificial intelligence-based algorithm for solar trackers that takes all these factors into account—mainly weather variations and the distance between solar panels. The methodology can be replicated anywhere in the world, and its effectiveness has been validated in a real solar plant with bifacial panels located in northeastern Brazil. The algorithm achieved gains of up to 7.83% on a cloudy day and obtained an average energy gain of approximately 1.2% when compared to a commercial solar tracker algorithm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The increase in the production efficiency of photovoltaic technology depends on its alignment in relation to the solar position. Solar tracking systems perform the tracking action by implementing control algorithms that help the reduction of tracking errors. However, conventional algorithms can reduce the life of actuators and mechanisms due to control action, significantly reducing operation times and profitability. In this article, an unconventional control scheme is developed to address the mentioned challenges, presenting the design and implementation of an extremum-seeking control to perform maximum power point tracking for a two-axis solar tracker instrumented with a solar module. The proposed controller is governed by the dynamics of a classic proportional-integral scheme and assisted by sensorless feedback. Also, it has an anti-wind-up-type configuration for the integral component and counts with a variable amplitude for the dither signal. The proposal is validated experimentally by comparison between a fixed system and a two-axis system in azimuth-elevation configuration. In addition, two performance indices are defined and analyzed, system energy production and tracking error. The results show that the proposal allows producing up to 27.75% more than a fixed system, considering the tracker energy consumption due to the tracking action and a pointing accuracy with ±1.8° deviation. Finally, an analysis and discussion are provided based on the results, concluding that the proposed algorithm is a viable alternative to increase the performance of tracked photovoltaic systems. A novel integrated DC-DC converter is proposed for the first stage of two-stage grid connected photovoltaic (PV) systems with energy storage systems. The proposed three-port converter (TPC) consists of a buck–boost converter, interposed between the battery storage system and the DC-AC inverter, in series with PV modules. The buck–boost converter in the proposed TPC is utilized for maximum power point tracking by regulating two power switches. The output power of the proposed converter is regulated by controlling the DC-AC converter. During the battery-charging mode, partial power regulation is employed with a direct power flow path (the series-connection of the PV panel, the battery and the output). As resistances in this path are almost negligible, the power conversion efficiency is higher than existing topologies. During battery-discharging mode, the power conversion is processed through a buck–boost converter with only two active power switches and one inductor. With fewer components, higher power conversion efficiency is also achieved. The circuit operation and analysis are presented in detail. To illustrate the simplicity of the converter control, the performance of the converter is tested with a straightforward maximum power point tracking on a PV system with battery cells. Due to the nonlinear relation between the generated power and voltage of photovoltaic (PV) arrays, there is a need to stimulate PV arrays to operate at maximum possible power. Maximum power can be tracked using the maximum power point tracker (MPPT). Due to the presence of several peaks on the power–voltage (P–V) characteristics of the shaded PV array, conventional MPPT such as hill climbing may show premature convergence, which can significantly reduce the generated power. Metaheuristic optimization algorithms (MOAs) have been used to avoid this problem. The main shortcomings of MOAs are the low convergence speed and the high ripples in the waveforms. Several strategies have been introduced to shorten the convergence time (CT) and improve the accuracy of convergence. The proposed technique sequentially uses a recent optimization algorithm called Mexican Axolotl Optimization (MAO) to capture the vicinity of the global peak of the P–V characteristics and move the control to a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) to accurately track the maximum power point. The proposed strategy extracts both the benefits of the MAO and FLC and avoids their limitations with the use of the high exploration involved in the MOA at the beginning of optimization and uses the fine accuracy of the FLC to fine-track the MPP. The results obtained from the proposed strategy show a substantial reduction in the CT and the highest accuracy of the global peak, which easily proves its superiority compared to other MPPT algorithms. Photovoltaic systems for pumping water, based on direct current powered motor pumps, have great application in small rural regions without electrical networks. In addition, these systems provide environmental benefits by replacing fossil fuels. However, these systems reduce their performance due to partial shading, which is magnified by the internal mismatch of the PV modules. This work proposes an intelligent, low-cost, and automatic method to mitigate these effects through the electrical reconfiguration of the PV array. Unlike other reported techniques, this method considers the pump head variations. For that, the global voltage and current supplied by the PV array to the motor pump subsystem are introduced to an artificial neural network and to a third-order equation, which locates the shaded PV module and detects the pump head, respectively. A connection control implements the optimal electrical rearrangement. The selection is based on the identified partial shading pattern and pump head. Finally, the switching matrix modifies the electrical connections between the PV modules on the PV array without changing the interconnection scheme, PV array dimension, or physical location of the PVMs. The proposed approach was implemented in a real PV water pumping system. Low-cost and commercial electronic devices were used. The experimental results show that the output power of the PV array increased by 8.43%, which maintains a more stable level of water extraction and, therefore, a constant flow level. In the past few decades, the solar energy market has increased significantly, with an increasing number of photovoltaic (PV) modules being deployed around the world each year. Some believe that these PV modules have a lifespan of around 25–30 years. As their lifetime is limited, solar panels wind up in the waste stream after their end of life (EoL). Several ecological challenges are associated with their inappropriate disposal due to the presence of hazardous heavy metals (HMs). Some studies have reported different treatment technologies, including pyrolysis, stabilization, physical separation, landfill, and the use of chemicals. Each proposed treatment technique pollutes the environment and underutilizes the potential resources present in discarded solar panels (DSPs). This review recommends thermal plasma pyrolysis as a promising treatment technology. This process will have significant advantages, such as preventing toxic HMs from contaminating the soil and groundwater, reducing the amount of e-waste from DSPs in an environmentally friendly and economical way, and allows the utilization of the valuable resources contained in EoL photovoltaic solar panel modules by converting them into hydrogen-rich syngas to generate thermal energy, electricity, and non-leachable slag that can be used as an additive in other treatment processes or as a conditioner to improve soil properties. However, plasma pyrolysis uses a high temperature to break down waste materials, a challenge which can be offset by the integration of this process in anaerobic digestion (AD), as the slag from plasma pyrolysis can be used as an additive in AD treatments to produce high yields of biogas and improve nutrient recovery. Moreover, the produced energy from both processes can operate the entire plant in which they take place and increase the net energy production, a resource which can be sold for an additional income. Flexible photovoltaic (PV) support structures are limited by the structural system, their tilt angle is generally small, and the effect of various factors on the wind load of flexibly supported PV panels remains unclear. In order to investigate the shape coefficients of the flexibly supported PV panel arrays, the grid-independent validation is carried out first, and then the case study validation is carried out to ensure the accuracy of the method in this paper. The CFD numerical simulation method is used to obtain the wind load variation of the PV panel array with different tilt angles, different spacing ratios, different wind angles, different heights above ground, different regions, and mountainous conditions. The distribution of wind pressure coefficients on the surface of PV panels with different inclination angles at different spacing ratios was investigated. The results show that the wind load shape coefficients with the increase in tilt angle and height above ground are basically a linear growth; the maximum value of PV shape coefficients appears in the wind angle at 30°, and 150° near the different tilt angles of the flexible PV array group shape coefficients distribution law is inconsistent. Different tilt angles of PV modules with the change rule of the spacing ratio of the wind load are inconsistent and have a greater impact on the wind load, so the PV panel array in all wind direction angles under the regional shape coefficients has a recommended value. The proposed value of the regional shape coefficients at all wind angles and the wind load calculation formula introducing height coefficients and spacing ratio coefficients are given. In the inner areas of large cities, many residential buildings built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries remain standing. The maintenance and renovation of these buildings have emerged as critical priorities over recent decades. E.g., in Budapest during the socialist era, the majority of these buildings were not renovated, and maintenance was largely neglected. In the subsequent 10–15 years following the end of socialism, financial resources for renovations were scarce due to the extensive transfer of properties from state to private ownership. It is only in the last decade or so that renovations have begun to be systematically addressed. Consequently, a significant portion of the building stock is still pending renovation. Given the current economic conditions, sustainable maintenance and necessary conversion are of paramount importance. Unfortunately, few standardized condition assessment methods are implemented in industrial practice, and the literature on this topic is limited. To address these challenges, we have developed an algorithm and model for condition assessment and decision support, which we refer to as the Complex Building's Decision Support System based on Fuzzy Signatures (CBDF system). Our model employs a fuzzy signature-based approach to account for uncertainties, errors, and potentially missing data that may arise during the assessment process. The primary aim of this model is to equip professionals involved in building condition assessment with a tool that enables them to make consistent and objective decisions while minimizing errors. This paper provides a brief overview of the CBDF system and presents test results from the assessment of a selected structural component of a building, demonstrating the system's functionality. Featured Application: It is helpful to accurately model any photovoltaic device regardless of whether a single solar cell, module (solar panel), or array of PV modules can be applied if the overall shape (including envelopes) is nonplanar, such as vehicle-integrated photovoltaics (VIPVs), agriphotovoltaics, building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPVs), aircraft PVs, and wavy PV arrays installed on wavy land (mountains, gorges, etc.). Most equations and models for photovoltaics are based on the assumption that photovoltaic (PV) devices are flat. Therefore, the actual performance of nonplanar PV devices should be investigated and developed. In this study, two algorithms were developed and defined using vector computations to describe a curved surface based on differential geometry and the interaction with non-uniform solar irradiance (i.e., non-uniform shading distribution in the sky). To validate the computational model, the power output from a commercial curved solar panel for the Toyota Prius 40 series was monitored at four orientation angles and in various climates. Then, these were compared with the calculation results obtained using the developed algorithm. The conventional calculation used for flat PV devices showed an overestimated performance due to ignorance of inherent errors due to curved surfaces. However, the new algorithms matched the measured trends, particularly on clear-sky days. The validated computation method for curved PV devices is advantageous for vehicle-integrated photovoltaic devices and PVs including building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPVs), drones, and agriphotovoltaics. Due to the characteristics of different forms and small bird droppings-related defects in photovoltaic modules, problems of missing detection, wrong detection, and low detection accuracy often exist in the bird droppings covering the detection of photovoltaic modules. In this paper, a defect identification method based on the improved Coordinate Attention—You Only Look Once (CA-YOLOv5) network is proposed. Firstly, a layer of the Coordinate Attention module is added between the Backbone and Neck network, which takes into account channel and location information to enhance the feature extraction ability of the network model. Secondly, the small target detection layer is added to fuse different feature information from shallow networks and deep networks so as to improve the multi-scale feature detection ability of the network structure and effectively improve the detection effect of small targets. Finally, the experimental results show that, compared with the original algorithm, the proposed improved algorithm based on YOLOv5s has a mean average precision (mAP) value of 92%, an increase of 5.2%, and the model volume is also reduced in different degrees compared with other mainstream algorithms, achieving a good balance between detection accuracy and model volume. The results show that the model has a more accurate detection result for the bird droppings-related defect detection of photovoltaic modules and can provide a reference for the detection of photovoltaic modules in real life. To overcome the issues of the existing properties and the non-configurable supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) architecture, this paper proposes an IoT-centered open-source SCADA system for monitoring photovoltaic (PV) systems. The system consists of three voltage sensors and three current sensors for data accumulation from the PV panel, the battery, and the load. As a part of the system design, a relay is used that controls the load remotely. An ESP32-E microcontroller transmits the collected data to a Banana Pi M4 Berry (BPI-M4 Berry) through the Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol over a privately established communication channel using Wi-Fi. The ESP32-E is configured as the MQTT publisher and the BPI-M4 Berry serves as the MQTT broker. Locally installed on the BPI-M4 Berry, the Node-RED platform creates highly customizable dashboards as human–machine interfaces (HMIs) to achieve real-time monitoring of the PV system. The proposed system was successfully tested to collect the PV system voltage/current/power data and to control the load in a supervisory way under a laboratory setup. In this paper, single-diode model (SDM) and double-diode model (DDM) parameters of the French RTC solar cell and the Photowatt PWP 201 photovoltaic (PV) module were extracted by combining five metaheuristic algorithms with three simulation current calculation methods (i.e., approximation method, Lambert W method and Newton–Raphson method), respectively. It was found that the parameter-extraction accuracies of the Lambert W (LW) method and the Newton–Raphson (NR) method are always approximately equal and higher than that of the approximation method. The best RMSEs (root mean square error) obtained by using the LW or the NR method on the solar cell and the PV module are 7.72986 × 10−4 and 2.05296 × 10−3 for SDM parameter extraction and 6.93709 × 10−4 and 1.99051 × 10−3 for DDM parameter extraction, respectively. The latter may be the highest parameter-extraction accuracy reported on the solar cell and the PV module so far, which is due to the adoption of more reasonable DDM parameter boundaries. Furthermore, the convergence curves of the LW and the NR method basically coincide, with a convergence speed faster than that of the approximation method. The robustness of a parameter-extraction method is mainly determined by the metaheuristic algorithm, but it is also affected by the simulation current calculation method and the parameter-extraction object. Voice conversion is the task of changing the speaker characteristics of input speech while preserving its linguistic content. It can be used in various areas, such as entertainment, medicine, and education. The quality of the converted speech is crucial for voice conversion algorithms to be useful in these various applications. Deep learning-based voice conversion algorithms, which have been showing promising results recently, generally consist of three modules: a feature extractor, feature converter, and vocoder. The feature extractor accepts the waveform as the input and extracts speech feature vectors for further processing. These speech feature vectors are later synthesized back into waveforms by the vocoder. The feature converter module performs the actual voice conversion; therefore, many previous studies separately focused on improving this module. These works combined the separately trained vocoder to synthesize the final waveform. Since the feature converter and the vocoder are trained independently, the output of the converter may not be compatible with the input of the vocoder, which causes performance degradation. Furthermore, most voice conversion algorithms utilize mel-spectrogram-based speech feature vectors without modification. These feature vectors have performed well in a variety of speech-processing areas but could be further optimized for voice conversion tasks. To address these problems, we propose a novel wave-to-wave (wav2wav) voice conversion method that integrates the feature extractor, the feature converter, and the vocoder into a single module and trains the system in an end-to-end manner. Featured Application: This study is mainly applied to the MRTD tester and improves the four-bar target to enhance the detection accuracy of the MRTD tester. Additionally, MRTD is an important parameter for infrared thermal imaging cameras, contributing to improving their accuracy. Furthermore, the dung beetle optimized fuzzy PID parameters can be applied to most control systems, enabling stable tracking of abrupt commands and compensating for the deficiencies of traditional PID control. With the widespread application of infrared thermal imagers in various fields, the demand for thermal imagers and their performance parameter testing equipment has increased significantly. There are particularly high demands on the detection accuracy of minimum resolvable temperature difference (MRTD) testers. Traditional MRTD testers have an issue with the four-bar target temperatures being easily affected by the external environment, resulting in non-uniform temperatures and imprecise detection results. This paper proposes an improvement to the four-bar targets by making them temperature-controllable. Temperature is controlled by installing thermoelectric coolers (TECs) and thin-film platinum resistors at the center and periphery of the four-bar targets with different spatial frequencies. The dung beetle algorithm is used to optimize fuzzy PID parameters to regulate the TEC's heating and cooling, improving the overall temperature uniformity of the four-bar targets. Temperature simulations of the four-bar targets were conducted on the COMSOL platform, with the control part simulated on the Simulink platform. The simulation results show that, compared to traditional PID, the fuzzy PID controller reduces overshoot by approximately 3.6%, although the system still exhibits mild oscillations. The fuzzy PID controller optimized by the dung beetle optimization (DBO) algorithm, in comparison to standard fuzzy PID, reduces the settling time by about 40 s and lowers overshoot by around 7%, with oscillations in the system nearly disappearing. Comparing the fuzzy PID optimized by the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm with the fuzzy PID optimized by the DBO algorithm, the DBO-based controller shows shorter rise and settling times, further illustrating the superiority of the fuzzy PID control optimized by the dung beetle algorithm. This provides a theoretical foundation for improving the accuracy of MRTD detector measurements. Finally, experimental verification was carried out. To improve the workshop production efficiency of textile enterprises and balance the total operating time of all machines in each operation, this paper proposes a modified algorithm based on the combination of the ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithm and production products, which we call the product ant colony optimization (PACO) algorithm. The local pheromone update rule in the ACO algorithm is modified through the close relationship between textile machinery and production products in the textile workshop; the pheromone is then introduced into production products based on the constraints of the textile machine. A heuristic function is designed to improve the utilization rate of textile machines to increase the heuristic value of machines that are less frequently used in the algorithm iteration process. In addition, this paper combines the convergence speed and the global search ability of the algorithm with a designed variable pheromone evaporate parameter. The comparison among the initially designed PACO algorithm, the separately modified PACO algorithm, and the integratively modified PACO algorithm demonstrates that the proposed enhancement effectively addresses scheduling issues in textile flexible workshops and various workshops with similar constraint conditions. Mechanical water detection is recognized as the most reliable and safe production technology for coal mines, mainly for the detection of water hazards in pre-mining operations. Intelligent water detectors are currently the main research direction in mechanical water detection, and the automatic installation of drilling bars is the key to achieving intelligent water detection. Improving the connection accuracy in the process of installing drilling bars is an important research topic for the improvement of control links. To improve the connection accuracy of the drilling bars at the time of supplying material, we used the modified Denavit–Hartenberg method to analyze the motion gestures of the supplied material device and the Lagrange equation to establish a dynamic analysis model. We aimed at better control precision by improving the sliding mode control algorithm and at increasing the convergence rate of tracking errors with a sliding controller based on an exponential approximation law and using saturated functions instead of the symbol functions in the reaching law to weaken the vibration in the control process. We then used particle swarm optimization (PSO) to find the optimum combination parameters of the sliding mode controllers and test the performance of the sliding mode controllers before and after PSO with MATLAB/Simulink. The results showed that the optimized controller has a strong resistance to parameter fluctuations, and the system responds quickly, achieves a good performance, and improves the convergence rate of tracking errors. This paper proposes a control strategy for grid-following inverter control and grid-forming inverter control developed for a Solar Photovoltaic (PV)–battery-integrated microgrid network. A grid-following (GFL) inverter with real and reactive power control in a solar PV-fed system is developed; it uses a Phase Lock Loop (PLL) to track the phase angle of the voltages at the PCC and adopts a vector control strategy to adjust the active and reactive currents that are injected into the power grid. The drawback of a GFL inverter is that it lacks the capability to operate independently when the utility grid is down due to outages or disturbances. The proposed grid-forming (GFM) inverter control with a virtual synchronous machine provides inertia to the grid, generates a stable grid-like voltage and frequency and enables the integration of the grid. The proposed system incorporates a battery energy storage system (BESS) which has inherent energy storage capability and is independent of geographical areas. The GFM control includes voltage and frequency control, enhanced islanding and black start capability and the maintenance of the stability of the grid-integrated system. The proposed model is validated under varying irradiance conditions, load switching, grid outages and temporary faults with fault ride-through (FRT) capability, and fast frequency response and stability are achieved. The proposed model is validated under varying irradiance conditions, load switching, grid outages and line faults incorporating fault ride-through capability in GFM-based control. The proposed controller was simulated in a 100 MW solar PV system and 60 MW BESS using the MATLAB/Simulink 2023 tool, and the experimental setup was validated in a 1 kW grid-connected system. The percentage improvement of the system frequency and voltage with FRT-capable GFM control is 69.3% and 70%, respectively, and the percentage improvement is only 3% for system frequency and 52% for grid voltage in the case of an FRT-capable GFL controller. This article presents an analysis of the performance of a 14.04 kWp grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) installation consisting of monocrystalline silicon, polycrystalline silicon and bifacial glass–glass monocrystalline silicon modules. The photovoltaic system was mounted in Poland, a location characterized by temperate climate conditions. On the basis of the obtained results, the photovoltaic parameters were determined in accordance with the international standard. The annual energy yield of the entire system was 1033 kWh/kWp, and the performance ratio achieved was 83%. The highest average daily final yield was in the range of 4.0–4.5 kWh/kWp for each photovoltaic technology under investigation. In the cold part of the year, the efficiency of the photovoltaic modules was estimated to be 15%, and it was estimated to be 7% during the warm part of the year. Array capture losses accounted for around 0.75 kWh/kWp of energy loss per day, whereas the inverter efficiency was over 95% during the months that are beneficial for energy production. Grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) systems are commonly designed for maximum energy production. However, as their presence grows, revised grid regulations increasingly require these systems to partially adhere to the primary frequency regulation (PFR) by reducing their power production when the grid frequency exceeds the nominal value. Nevertheless, full participation in PFR of PV systems, without battery storage, would require operating with a dedicated active power reserve to be utilized in the event of underfrequency conditions. This paper presents a model-based (MB) flexible power point tracking (FPPT) algorithm for PV systems. Results of a microgrid simulation show that the proposed algorithm enables a PV system with a nominal power of 100 kW to maintain a 20 kW active power reserve under various irradiation and temperature conditions, with a relative error lower than 3%. Furthermore, a simulation of the PV system assisting in primary frequency regulation is presented. Thanks to the proposed strategy, when employing the algorithm, the frequency deviation is reduced both in the event of underfrequency and overfrequency conditions. By enabling operation with a constant active power reserve, as well as a quick adjustment of the produced active power, in the event of frequency imbalance, the proposed MB algorithm is an interesting candidate for achieving complete PFR capabilities of PV systems. Active Distribution Networks are Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) systems with coupled dynamics, which cause interactions among the control loops of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs). This undesired effect leads to performance degradation of voltage control. To mitigate the effects of this unavoidable coupling, the present paper proposes a systematic design procedure based on the analysis of the interaction's sources. In detail, each DER is equipped with a double-loop PI to control the active and reactive power output of the voltage source converter, which connects the DER to the network's node. Furthermore, to guarantee ancillary services, the two loops are coupled by a simple mechanism of cooperation of the active power to voltage regulation realized by a filtered droop law. To achieve voltage regulation with reduced loop interactions, the PI parameters and the filter's pulse are designed according to a procedure with two sequential steps based on the Internal Model Control (IMC) technique. Simulation studies are finally presented to demonstrate that the proposed design method achieves both reduction of the loop interaction and robust voltage control in the presence of model parameter uncertainty in the MIMO plant, modeling various operating conditions of the ADN, including a step connection of large loads, renewable energy source variations, and changes in the substation transformer ratio. Ice detection poses significant challenges in sectors such as renewable energy and aviation due to its adverse effects on aircraft performance and wind energy production. Ice buildup alters the surface characteristics of aircraft wings or wind turbine blades, inducing airflow separation and diminishing the aerodynamic properties of these structures. While various approaches have been proposed to address icing effects, including chemical solutions, pneumatic systems, and heating systems, these solutions are often costly and limited in scope. To enhance the cost-effectiveness of ice protection systems, reliable information about current icing conditions, particularly in the early stages, is crucial. Ultrasonic guided waves offer a promising solution for ice detection, enabling integration into critical structures and providing coverage over larger areas. However, existing techniques primarily focus on detecting thick ice layers, leaving a gap in early-stage detection. This paper proposes an approach based on high-order symmetric modes to detect thin ice formation with thicknesses up to a few hundred microns. The method involves measuring the group velocity of the S1 mode at different temperatures and correlating velocity changes with ice layer formation. Experimental verification of the proposed approach was conducted using a novel group velocity dispersion curve reconstruction method, allowing for the tracking of propagating modes in the structure. Copper samples without and with special superhydrophobic multiscale coatings designed to prevent ice formation were employed for the experiments. The results demonstrated successful detection of ice formation and enabled differentiation between the coated and uncoated cases. Therefore, the proposed approach can be effectively used for early-stage monitoring of ice growth and evaluating the performance of anti-icing coatings, offering promising advancements in ice detection and prevention for critical applications. Mini–unmanned aerial vehicles (mini-UAVs) are emerging as a promising platform for through-wall radar to sense the enclosed space in cities, especially high-rise buildings, due to their excellent maneuverability. However, due to unavoidable environmental interference such as airflow, mini-UAVs are prone to trajectory deviation thus degrading their sensing accuracy. Most of the existing approaches model the impact of trajectory deviation into a polynomial phase error on the received signal, which cannot fit the space-variant motion error well. Moreover, the large trajectory deviations of UAVs introduce the unavoidable envelope error. This article proposes an autofocusing algorithm based on the back projection (BP) image, which directly estimates the trajectory deviations between the actual and measured track. Thus, the problem of the 2D space variability of the motion error can be circumvented. The proposed method mainly consists of two steps. First, we estimate the trajectory deviation in the line-of-sight (LOS) direction by exploring the underlying linear property of the wall embedded in the BP imaging result. Then, the estimated trajectory deviation in the LOS direction is compensated for to obtain an updated BP image, followed by a Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) approach to estimate the trajectory deviation along the track through focusing targets behind the wall. Simulations and practical experiments show that the proposed algorithm can accurately estimate the serious trajectory deviations larger than the range resolution, improving the sensing robustness of UAV-borne through-wall radar greatly. The traditional golden jackal optimization algorithm (GJO) has slow convergence speed, insufficient accuracy, and weakened optimization ability in the process of finding the optimal solution. At the same time, it is easy to fall into local extremes and other limitations. In this paper, a novel golden jackal optimization algorithm (SCMGJO) combining sine–cosine and Cauchy mutation is proposed. On one hand, tent mapping reverse learning is introduced in population initialization, and sine and cosine strategies are introduced in the update of prey positions, which enhances the global exploration ability of the algorithm. On the other hand, the introduction of Cauchy mutation for perturbation and update of the optimal solution effectively improves the algorithm's ability to obtain the optimal solution. Through the optimization experiment of 23 benchmark test functions, the results show that the SCMGJO algorithm performs well in convergence speed and accuracy. In addition, the stretching/compression spring design problem, three-bar truss design problem, and unmanned aerial vehicle path planning problem are introduced for verification. The experimental results prove that the SCMGJO algorithm has superior performance compared with other intelligent optimization algorithms and verify its application ability in engineering applications. This paper experimentally and analytically investigated the damage and seismic behavior of concrete walls reinforced by low-bond ultra-high-strength (LBUHS) bars. To this end, four half-scale rectangular concrete walls were fabricated and tested under reversed cyclic loading and constant axial compression. The test variables were the shear span ratio and the axial load ratio. Based on the test results, the propagation of cracks on the wall surface, the maximum strain capacity of concrete, the hysteresis loops and envelope curves, the residual drifts, and the strain distributions of LBUHS rebars were presented and discussed. The experimental results showed that all the test walls could exhibit drift-hardening capability until at least a 2.0% drift ratio if LBUHS rebars were anchored by nuts at their ends. The test results also indicated that the maximum strain capacity of concrete was above 0.86%, much larger than the currently recommended 0.4%. After unloading from the transient drift ratios of 2.0% and 2.5% for the walls with shear span ratios of 1.5 and 2.0, respectively, the measured residual drift ratios were controlled below 0.4%, which is less than the critical drift ratio (0.5%) having 98% repairable probability recommended in the FEMA document (P-58) for general concrete structures. Furthermore, a numerical method was presented to evaluate the cyclic response of the test walls, and a comparison between the experimental and the calculated results verified the reliability and accuracy of the proposed numerical method. Currently, various light-emitting diode (LED) lighting systems are being developed because LEDs are one of the most used lighting sources for work environments, buildings, homes, and public roads in terms of some of their applications. Similarly, they have low energy consumption, quick responses, and excellent optimal performance in their operation. However, these systems still need to precisely regulate lighting, maintain stable voltage and current in the presence of faults and disturbances, and have a wide range of operations in the event of trajectory changes or monitoring tasks regarding the desired voltage and current. This work presents the design and application of two types of robust controllers (structure-at-infinity control and geometric control) applied to an LED driver using a buck converter. The controllers aim to follow the desired trajectories, attenuate disturbances at the power supply input, and compensate for faults in the actuator (MOSFET) to keep the capacitor voltage and inductor current stable. When comparing the results obtained with the two controllers, it was observed that both present excellent performance in the presence of constant disturbances. However, in scenarios in which variable faults and path changes are implemented, the structure-at-infinity control method shows an overimpulse of output voltage and current ranging from 39 to 42 volts and from 0.3 to 0.45 A, with a margin of error of 1%, and it can generate a failure in the LED driver using a buck converter. On the other hand, when using geometric control, the results are satisfactory, achieving attenuating constant disturbances and variable faults, reaching the desired voltage (40 v to 35 v) and current (0.3 to 0.25 A) with a margin of error of 0.05%, guaranteeing a system without overvoltages or the accelerated degradation of the components due to magnetic conductivity. The incorporation of distributed generation with photovoltaic systems entails a drawback associated with intermittency in the generation capacity due to variations in the solar resource. In general, this aspect limits the level of penetration that this resource can have without producing an appreciable impact on the quality of the electrical supply. With the intention of reducing its intermittency, this paper presents the characterization of a methodology for maximizing grid-connected PV system operation under low-solar-radiation conditions. A new concept of a hybrid system based on a constant current source and capable of integrating different sources into a conventional grid-connected PV system is presented. Results of an experimental characterization of a low-voltage grid–PV system connection with a DC/DC converter for constant-current source application are shown in zero and non-zero radiation conditions. The results obtained demonstrate that the proposed integration method works efficiently without causing appreciable effects on the parameters that define the quality of the electrical supply. In this way, it is possible to efficiently incorporate another source of energy, taking advantage of the characteristics of the GCPVS without further interventions in the system. It is expected that this topology could help to integrate other generation and/or storage technologies into already existing PV systems, opening a wide field of research in the PV systems area. With the greatly increased penetration rate of wind power, photovoltaic, and other new energy sources in the power system, the proportion of controllable units gradually decreased, resulting in increased system uncertainty. The biogas power generation system can effectively alleviate the pressure caused by source-load uncertainty in such high-permeability systems of new energy sources such as wind power and photovoltaic. Hence, from the perspective of the power system, this paper introduces a capacity demand analysis method for a rural biogas power generation system capable of independent operation amidst source-load uncertainty. To enhance the depiction of pure load demand uncertainty, a scene set generation method is proposed, leveraging quantile regression analysis and Gaussian mixture model clustering. Each scene's data and probability of occurrence elucidate the uncertainty of pure load demand. An integrated optimal operation model for new energy and biogas-generating units, free from energy storage capacity constraints, is established based on the generated scenario set. Addressing considerations such as biogas utilization rate and system operation cost, a biogas storage correction model, utilizing the gas storage deviation degree index and the cost growth rate index, is developed to determine biogas demand and capacity. The example results demonstrate the significant reduction in gas storage construction costs and charging and discharging imbalances achieved by the proposed model while ensuring systemic operational cost effectiveness. The main objective of this work is to evaluate the energy efficiency improvement obtained in grid-connected photovoltaic systems based on a dynamic reconfiguration strategy. The MIX and team reconfigurable photovoltaic system topologies have been considered since both minimize the operation of the inverters in low-load conditions. A numerical method is used to analyze the energy flows within the photovoltaic system, with a specific focus on the plant-oriented configuration. In this work, MIX systems are only presented briefly, while team reconfigurable photovoltaic systems are analyzed in more detail. This is because team systems can be implemented using conventional commercial inverters, electromechanical switches to redirect power flows, and a simple digital controller (as based on the Arduino platforms). The energy supplied to the grid by two grid-connected photovoltaic systems will be evaluated: one based on a classic non-reconfigurable strategy and another based on the team strategy. The measurement of the energy generated by these two systems, tested under various irradiance levels (emulating different climatic conditions), shows that reconfigurable systems always exhibit greater energy efficiency. Considering the vulnerability of satellite positioning signals to obstruction and interference in orchard environments, this paper investigates a navigation and positioning method based on real-time kinematic global navigation satellite system (RTK-GNSS), inertial navigation system (INS), and light detection and ranging (LiDAR). This method aims to enhance the research and application of autonomous operational equipment in orchards. Firstly, we design and integrate robot vehicles; secondly, we unify the positioning information of GNSS/INS and laser odometer through coordinate system transformation; next, we propose a dynamic switching strategy, whereby the system switches to LiDAR positioning when the GNSS signal is unavailable; and finally, we combine the kinematic model of the robot vehicles with PID and propose a path-tracking control system. The results of the orchard navigation experiment indicate that the maximum lateral deviation of the robotic vehicle during the path-tracking process was 0.35 m, with an average lateral error of 0.1 m. The positioning experiment under satellite signal obstruction shows that compared to the GNSS/INS integrated with adaptive Kalman filtering, the navigation system proposed in this article reduced the average positioning error by 1.6 m. Renewable energies have become pivotal in the global energy landscape. Their adoption is crucial for phasing out fossil fuels and promoting environmentally friendly energy solutions. In recent years, the energy management system (EMS) concept has emerged to manage the power grid. EMS optimizes electric grid operations through advanced metering, automation, and communication technologies. A critical component of EMS is power forecasting, which facilitates precise energy grid scheduling. This research paper introduces a deep learning hybrid model employing convolutional neural network–long short-term memory (CNN-LSTM) for short-term photovoltaic (PV) solar energy forecasting. The proposed method integrates the variational mode decomposition (VMD) algorithm with the CNN-LSTM model to predict PV power output from a solar farm in Boussada, Algeria, spanning 1 January 2019, to 31 December 2020. The performance of the developed model is benchmarked against other deep learning models across various time horizons (15, 30, and 60 min): variational mode decomposition–convolutional neural network (VMD-CNN), variational mode decomposition–long short-term memory (VMD-LSTM), and convolutional neural network–long short-term memory (CNN-LSTM), which provide a comprehensive evaluation. Our findings demonstrate that the developed model outperforms other methods, offering promising results in solar power forecasting. The work deals with the simulation and optimization of a tracking mechanism used to increase the efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) systems. The proposed solar tracker is one with two degrees of freedom (so called dual-axis, or bi-axial), of the equatorial/polar type. The actuation of the tracking system is carried out with two linear actuators, one for each of the two movements. The study is carried out using a virtual prototyping platform that integrates, into a mechatronic concept, the commercial software packages ADAMS and EASY5. The optimization process is approached from three points of view, which target the mechanical device, the control system, and the bi-axial tracking program. All these optimization processes positively influence, in a specific way, the energy efficiency of the tracking system, which was comprehensively evaluated considering the data specific to the longest light-day of the year (i.e., summer solstice), where a net energy gain of 58.66% (by reference to the equivalent fixed system) was obtained. Similar numerical simulations corresponding to several representative days of the year have revealed that the annual net energy gain is around 42%, which fully justifies the use of the proposed tracking system. In this paper, an improved speed sensorless control method including the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm for grid-connected squirrel-cage induction generator (SCIG) wind turbine systems using modified reduced-order generalized integrator (ROGI)–frequency-locked loop (FLL) with the DC offset compensation capability is proposed. The rotor flux linkages are estimated by the modified ROGI-FLL-based observer, of which the inputs are d-q axis rotor EMFs, and hence the position of rotor flux linkage can be obtained directly based on these estimated flux linkages using the arc tangent function. The DC offset in the estimated rotor flux linkages, which can cause oscillations in estimated rotor speed, leading to oscillations in SCIG stator active power due to power signal feedback (PSF)-MPPT algorithm, can be significantly reduced using the DC offset compensators included in modified ROGI-FLL structure. Moreover, the negative effects of high-frequency components on the performance of the rotor flux linkage estimation can be remarkably mitigated owing to the excellent high-frequency component rejection capability of ROGI. The dynamic response analysis of the modified ROGI-FLL with DC offset compensators is provided as well. The main purpose of this study was to research and develop maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of a photovoltaic module array (PVMA) with partial module shading and sudden changes in solar irradiance. Modified cat swarm optimization (MCSO) was adopted to track the global maximum power point (GMPP) of the PVMA. Upon a sudden changes in solar irradiance or when certain modules in the PVMA were shaded, the maximum power point (MPP) of the PVMA will change accordingly, and multiple peak values may appear on the power–voltage (P-V) characteristic curve. Therefore, if the tracking pace is constant, the time required to track the MPP might extend, and under certain circumstances, the GMPP might not be tracked, as only the local maximum power point (LMPP) can be tracked. To prevent this problem, a maximum power point tracker based on MCSO is proposed in this paper in order to adjust the tracking pace along with the slope of the P-V characteristic curve and the inertia weight of the iteration formula. The initial voltage for tracking commencement was set to 0.8 times the voltage at the maximum power point of the PVMA under standard test conditions. Firstly, MATLAB 2022a was used to construct the four-series, three-parallel PVMA model under zero shading and partial shading. The feedback of PVMA voltage and current was obtained, where the GMPP was tracked with MCSO. From the simulation results, it was proven that, under different shading percentages and sudden changes in solar irradiance for partial modules in the PVMA, the MCSO proposed in this paper provided better tracking speed, dynamic response, and steady performance compared to the conventional CSO. In this paper, a method based on an improved intelligent bat algorithm (IIBA) in cooperation with a voltage and current sensor was applied in maximum power point tracking (MPPT) for a photovoltaic module array (PVMA), where the power generation performance of a PVMA was enhanced. Due to the partial shading of the PVMA from climate changes or the surrounding environment, multiple peak values were generated on the power–voltage (P-V) curve, where the conventional MPPT technology could only track the local maximum power point (LMPP), hence the reduction in output power of PVMAs. Therefore, the IIBA-based MPPT was proposed in this paper to solve such issues and to ensure the capability of a PVMA in tracking the global maximum power point (GMPP) and utilization for enhancing the output power of a PVMA. Firstly, the Matlab/Simulink software was used to establish a boost converter model that simulated the actual 4-series–3-parallel PVMA under different shaded conditions, where the P-V curve with 1-peak, 2-peak, 3-peak and 4-peak values were generated. Subsequently, the tracking paces of the conventional bat algorithm (BA) were adjusted according to the gradient of the P-V curve for a PVMA. At the same time, 0.8 times the maximum power point (MPP) voltage Vmp under standard test conditions (STCs) for a PVMA was set as the initial tracking voltage. Renewable energy sources are being increasingly deployed to achieve carbon neutrality, thereby boosting photovoltaic (PV) system adoptions. Accordingly, vertical PV systems designed for specific installations have been developed. We propose a strategy to enhance the PV hosting capacity of a connected distribution line (DL) by combining vertical installations with modules facing east-west and conventional PV systems with modules facing south at an installation angle of approximately 30°. The data were obtained from a real testbed located in South Korea, which is situated in a mid-latitude region. We analyzed the generation patterns of vertical and combined PV systems (vertical and conventional) to enhance the hosting capacity. The results showed that vertical PV combination ratios of 40–60% effectively flattened the peak generation curve. Additionally, the DL hosting capacity improved by 40% under real-world conditions. In an actual industrial scenario, the system feasibility was validated to be within the voltage maintenance range and thermal capacity of lines in South Korea, indicating that this approach can mitigate the need for additional line installations and renewable energy curtailments. Localization in hospitals can be valuable in improving different services in medical environments. In this sense, an accurate location system in this environment requires adequately enabling communication technology. However, widely adopted technologies such as Wireless Fidelity (WiFi), Bluetooth, and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) are considered poorly suited to enable hospital localization due to their inherent drawbacks, including high implementation costs, poor signal strength, imprecise estimates, and potential interference with medical devices. The increasing expenses associated with the implementation and maintenance of these technologies, along with their limited accuracy in dynamic hospital environments, underscore the pressing need for alternative solutions. In this context, it becomes imperative to explore and present novel approaches that not only avoid these challenges but also offer more cost effective, accurate, and interference-resistant connectivity to achieve precise localization within the complex and sensitive hospital environment. In the quest to achieve adequate localization accuracy, this article strategically focuses on leveraging Visible Light Communication (VLC) as a fundamental technology to address the specific demands of hospital environments to achieve the precise localization and tracking of life-saving equipment. The proposed system leverages existing lighting infrastructure and utilizes three transmitting LEDs with different wavelengths. The Received Signal Strength (RSS) is used at the receiver, and a trilateration algorithm is employed to determine the distances between the receiver and each LED to achieve precise localization. The accuracy of the localization is further enhanced by integrating a trilateration algorithm with the sophisticated Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. The proposed method improves the localization accuracy, for example, at a height of 1 m, from a 11.7 cm error without PSO to 0.5 cm with the PSO algorithm. This enhanced accuracy is very important to meet the need for precise equipment location in dynamic and challenging hospital environments to meet the demand for life-saving equipment. This paper introduces a novel five-port, three-input, dual-output isolated bidirectional dc-dc converter (FPIBC) topology with an effective controller for power-sharing and voltage-balancing in bipolar dc microgrids (BPDCMGs). The proposed converter acts as the interface for the integration of a hybrid generation system comprising a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC), a photovoltaic (PV) system, and a battery into BPDCMGs. It employs a reduced number of circuit elements compared with similar multiport converter topologies suggested for BPDCMG applications. Symmetrical bipolar output voltages are ensured by a voltage-balancing circuit composed of a fully controlled switch and four diodes. The FPIBC is equipped with different controllers for output voltage regulation and balancing, power sharing, maximum power point tracking of the PV, the optimum operating region of the SOFC, and constant-current, constant-voltage charging of the battery. To verify the viability and effectiveness of the proposed system, a simulation model was developed with a 4.2 kW SOFC, a 3.7 kW PV, and a 140 V 10.8 Ah battery in MATLAB/Simulink. The performance of the FPIBC was evaluated through extensive case studies with different operational modes, including battery charge/discharge states and SOFC and PV parameter changes under varying load conditions. In addition, the proposed system was examined using a daily dynamic load profile. According to the simulation results, a peak efficiency of 97.28% is achieved and the voltage imbalance between the output ports is maintained below 0.5%. It is shown that the FPIBC has advantages over previous converters in terms of the number of ports, number of circuit elements, bipolar output voltage, bidirectional power flow, and efficiency. Efficiency losses resulting from electrical mismatching in densely packed photovoltaic arrays present a significant challenge, particularly exacerbated in nonuniformly illuminated receivers and under varying temperatures. Serial configurations are particularly susceptible to radiation nonuniformities, while parallel systems are negatively affected by temperature variations. Various authors have recommended the incorporation of electrical voltage and current sources to mitigate these losses. This study explores different electrical connection configurations utilizing concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) cells and DC-DC electrical current converters. A self-adaptive microfluidic cell matrix cooling system is employed to mitigate thermal dispersion caused by the highly nonuniform illumination profile. The obtained results for each configuration are compared with the total electrical power produced by individual cells, operating under identical radiation and temperature conditions to those of the entire array. The results reveal a noteworthy increase in production across all studied configurations, with the parallel–series arrangement demonstrating the most promising practical utility. This comprehensive review explores the pioneer techniques and methodologies employed in the field of ML-based forecasting of temperature and solar irradiance for PV systems. This article presents a comparative study between various algorithms and techniques commonly used for temperature and solar radiation forecasting. These include regression models such as decision trees, random forest, XGBoost, and support vector machines (SVM). The beginning of this article highlights the importance of accurate weather forecasts for the operation of PV systems and the challenges associated with traditional meteorological models. Accurately measuring the combustion and destruction removal efficiency of flaring is important when accounting for methane emissions from oil and gas production. Despite this, the amount of experimental data from full-size flares is limited, especially for flares built without air or steam assistance. The use of a single destruction value of 98% is commonly applied. In this paper, we present new empirical measurements of flare efficiency using three common flare designs employed in upstream applications. Combustion products were analyzed using an extractive sampling method. The results demonstrate that whilst destruction efficiencies in excess of 98% are achievable, if the gas composition falls below a critical heating value of ~300 BTU/scf, the efficiency deteriorates leading to elevated methane emissions. This is further complicated by accurately measuring the flow of combustible gas and the impact of crosswinds. In an operational setting, continuous tracking of flare conditions is therefore a key resource in reducing methane emissions but further work is required to standardize how continuous performance tracking is evaluated if such measurements are to attain full traceability.
