The coordination compound [NiCl2L(2-PrOH)]n (where L is 2-(4-bromophenoxy)acetohydrazide; 2-PrOH is isopropanol) was obtained for the first time. The complex was characterized by means of elemental analyses, molar conductance, thermogravimetric analysis, IR spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. It was determined that the coordination compound exhibits a polymeric structure. The complexing agent is six-coordinated, and its distorted octahedron forms due to the bidentate coordination of 2-(4-bromophenoxy)acetohydrazide through the carbonyl oxygen atom and the amine nitrogen. The oxygen of the molecule of isopropanol, the chlorine atom, and two chlorine atoms serve as bridges between two metal atoms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Bimetallic coordination polymers (CPs) have two different metal ions as connecting nodes in their polymer structure. The synthesis methods of bimetallic CPs are mainly categorized into the one-pot method and post-synthesis modifications according to various needs. Compared with monometallic CPs, bimetallic CPs have synergistic effects and excellent properties, such as higher gas adsorption rate, more efficient catalytic properties, stronger luminescent properties, and more stable loading platforms, which have been widely applied in the fields of gas adsorption, catalysis, energy storage as well as conversion, and biosensing. In recent years, the study of bimetallic CPs synergized with cancer drugs and functional nanomaterials for the therapy of cancer has increasingly attracted the attention of scientists. Bispidines are a family of ligands that plays a pivotal role in various areas of coordination chemistry, with applications in medicinal chemistry, molecular catalysis, coordination polymers synthesis, and molecular magnetism. In the present work, triazole moieties were introduced using the CuAAC click-reaction, with the aim of expanding the number of coordination sites on the bispidine core. The 1,2,3-triazole rings were thus synthesized on propargyl-derived bispidines after reaction with different alkyl azides. The new class of triazole-bispidines was characterized, and their chelation capabilities were evaluated with different metals through NMR titration, ESI-MS spectrometry, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD). The current study aims to explain recent developments in the synthesis of Pb(II)-azido metal-organic coordination polymers. Coordination polymers are defined as hybrid materials encompassing metal-ion-based, organic linkers, vertices, and ligands, serving to link the vertices to 1D, 2D, or 3D periodic configurations. The coordination polymers have many applications and potential properties in many research fields, primarily dependent on particular host–guest interactions. Metal coordination polymers (CPs) and complexes have fascinating structural topologies. Therefore, they have found numerous applications in different areas over the past two decades. Azido-bridged complexes are inorganic coordination ligands with higher fascination that have been the subject of intense research because of their coordination adaptability and magnetic diversity. Several sonochemical methods have been developed to synthesize nanostructures. Researchers have recently been interested in using ultrasound in organic chemistry synthetics, since ultrasonic waves in liquids accelerate chemical reactions in heterogeneous and homogeneous systems. The sonochemical synthesis of lead–azide coordination compounds resulted from very fantastic morphologies, and some of these compounds are used as precursors for preparing nano lead oxide. The ultrasonic sonochemistry approach has been extensively applied in different research fields, such as medical imaging, biological cell disruption, thermoplastic welding, food processing, and waste treatment. CPs serve as appropriate precursors for preparing favorable materials at the nanoscale. Using these polymers as precursors is beneficial for preparing inorganic nanomaterials such as metal oxides. The heteroditopic molecule HacacMePz combines a Pearson hard acetylacetone donor site with a softer trimethylpyrazole and shows site selectivity towards the coinage metal cations. The coordination of the N donor function was achieved towards AgI and AuI, leading to the salt [Ag(HacacMePz)2]PF6 (1) and the neutral complex [AuCl(HacacMePz)] (2). In either case, linear coordination about the coinage metal cation is observed. Interestingly, both complexes crystallize in space group P b c a with similar cell parameters. The two solids do not qualify as isostructural, albeit being closely related in real and reciprocal space. To probe the ligand's ability for the envisaged synthesis of bimetallic coordination polymers, the mixed-metal CuII/AuI complex [Cu(acacMePzAuCl)2] (3) was obtained. In this mixed-metal oligomer, the central CuII cation adopts a square planar coordination environment with two O,O′-coordinated acacMePz− ligands, whose softer N donor sites are saturated with a AuCl moiety. We report the synthesis, structural investigation, and thermal behavior for three zinc-based 1D-coordination polymers with 3,6-di-tert-butyl-2,5-dihydroxy-p-benzoquinone, which were synthesized in the presence of different glycols. The interaction of zinc nitrate with glycols, followed by using the resulting solution in solvothermal synthesis with the anilate ligand in DMF, makes it possible to obtain linear polymer structures with 1,2-ethylene or 1,2-propylene glycols coordinated to the metal. The reaction involving 1,3-propylene glycol under similar conditions gives a crystal structure that does not contain a diol. The crystal and molecular structures of the synthesized compounds were determined using single crystal by X-ray structural analysis. The synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic properties of the coordination polymers of formula [EDAP{Li6(H2O)8[(Cu2(μ-mpba)2)2(H2O)2]}]n (1) and [(EDAP)2{K(H2O)4[Cu2(μ-mpba)2(H2O)2]}Cl•2H2O]n (2), in which mpba = N,N'-1,3-phenylenebis(oxamate) and EDAP2+ = 1,10-ethylenebis(4-aminopyridinium) are described. Both compounds have in common the presence of the [Cu2(mpba)2]4- tetraanionic unit which is a [3,3] metallacyclophane motif in which the copper(II) ions are five-coordinate in a distorted square pyramidal surrounding. The complex anion in 1 is dimerized through double out-of-plane copper to outer carboxylate-oxygen atoms resulting in the centrosymmetric tetracopper(II) fragment [Cu4(μ-mpba)4(H2O)2]8- which act as a ligand toward six hydrated lithium(I) cations leading to anionic ladder-like double chains whose charge is neutralized by the EDAP2+ cations. In the case of 2, each dicopper(II) entity acts as a ligand towards tetraquapotassium(I) units to afford anionic zig zag single chains of formula {K(H2O)4[Cu2(μ-mpba)2(H2O)2]}n3n- plus EDAP2+ cations and non-coordinate chloride anions. Cryomagnetic measurements on polycrystalline samples 1 and 2 show the occurrence of ferromagnetic interactions between the copper(II) ions across the --Namidate--(C--C--C)phenyl--Namidate--exchange pathway [J = +10.6 (1) and +8.22 cm-1 (2)] and antiferromagnetic ones through the double out-of-plane carboxylate-oxygen atoms [j = -0.68 cm-1 (1), the spin Hamiltonian being defined as H = -J(SCu1•SCu2 + SCu2i•SCu1i ) - j(SCu2•SCu2i )]. Selected recent examples of coordination polymers (CPs) or metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) constructed from different multifunctional carboxylic acids with phenyl-pyridine or biphenyl cores have been discussed. Despite being still little explored in crystal engineering research, such types of semi-rigid, thermally stable, multifunctional and versatile carboxylic acid building blocks have become very promising toward the hydrothermal synthesis of metal-organic architectures possessing distinct structural features, topologies, and functional properties. Thus, the main aim of this mini-review has been to motivate further research toward the synthesis and application of coordination polymers assembled from polycarboxylic acids with phenyl-pyridine or biphenyl cores. The importance of different reaction parameters and hydrothermal conditions on the generation and structural types of CPs or MOFs has also been highlighted. The influence of the type of main di- or tricarboxylate ligand, nature of metal node, stoichiometry and molar ratio of reagents, temperature, and presence of auxiliary ligands or templates has been showcased. Two new two-dimensional zinc(II) coordination polymers containing 2,5- thiophenedicarboxylate and bitopic ligands bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methane (btrm) or 1,3-bis (1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)propane (btrp) were synthesized. Synthesized compounds were characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction, and thermal analysis. A binuclear Zn(II) complex of formula {[Zn(BCPPO)H2O]·3C2H5OH}n (1) [H2BCPPO = Bis 4-carboxyphenyl phenyl phosphine oxide] has been synthesized and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Thermogravimetric analysis (TG), Elemental analysis (EA) and Infrared spectroscopy (IR). As revealed by the single crystal X-ray diffraction, in the binuclear Zn(II) complex, two paddle-wheel-type Zn2 units were connected by four BCPPO ligands to form one-dimensional chains. Their antibacterial activity was evaluated by using a minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) benchmark. The binuclear Zn(II) complex shows excellent and long-term antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Two new two-dimensional (2D) layer coordination polymers--namely, [Cd(L)2]n (1) and [Co(L)2(H2O)]n (2)--were synthesized by the reaction of corresponding metal salts with 3-(1H-imidazol-4-yl)benzoic acid (HL) incorporating 4-imidazolyl and carboxylate functional groups, and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). Complex 1 is a 2D network with (4, 4) topology, while 2 is a typical 6³-hcb topology net. Complex 1 exhibits intense light blue emission in the solid state at room temperature. A new 1D chained Ca(II) coordination polymer--namely, [CaL2(H2O)2]n (HL = 3,5-bis(4-pyridylmethoxy)benzoic acid)--was synthesized though the reaction of Ca(ClO4)2.4H2O, 3,5-bis(4-pyridylmethoxy)benzoic acid and NaOH in H2O/CH3CH2OH (v:v = 1:2) solution. Its structure was determined by elemental analysis, infrared spectrum, and single-crystal XRD. Structural analyses show that each Ca(II) ion is eight-coordinated by six oxygen atoms of four 3,5-bis(4-pyridylmethoxy)benzoate ligands and two oxygen atoms of two coordinated H2O molecules to form a square-antiprismatic CaO8 polyhedron. The Ca(II) complex displays a 1D chained structure constructed by the bridging effect of the bidentate carboxyl group of 3,5-bis(4-pyridylmethoxy)benzoate ligand. A new 1D Cd(II) coordination polymer, [{CdL2(H2O)}·(H2O)3]n (HL = N-nicotinoylglycine), has been synthesized by the assembly of Cd(NO3)2·4H2O with N-nicotinoylglycine, and its composition was determined by elemental analysis, infrared, and X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis. In this complex, the Cd(II) is seven-coordinated by two N atoms of two N-nicotinoylglycine anions, four O atoms of two N-nicotinoylglycine anions, and one O atom of a coordinated water molecule. The complex forms a 1D looped coordination polymer by the bridging of the N-nicotinoylglycine anion. Two new linear silver(I) nitrate coordination polymers with bitopic ligand 1,1,2,2-tetra(pyrazol-1-yl)ethane were synthesized. Synthesized compounds were characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis. Silver coordination polymers demonstrated a yellow emission near 500 nm upon excitation at 360 nm. Crystal structures of coordination polymers were determined and structural peculiarities are discussed. In both of the structures, silver ions are connected via bridging ligand molecules to form polymeric chains with a five-atomic environment. The coordination environment of the central atom corresponds to a distorted trigonal bipyramid with two N atoms of different ligands in apical positions. The Ag-N bond distances vary in a wide range of 2.31-2.62 Å, giving strongly distorted metallacycles. In order to synthesize new coordination polymers with original architectures and interesting magnetic properties, we used the nitranilate ligand (C6O4(NO2)22- = C6N2O82-), derived from the dianionic ligand dhbq2- (2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-benzoquinone = H2C6O42-). The use of this bis-bidentate bridging ligand led to [(DAMS)2{FeNa(C6N2O8)3}·CH3CN]n (1) (DAMS+ = C16H17N2 + = 4-[4-(dimethylamino)-α-styryl]-1-methylpyridinium), a 2D heterometallic coordination polymer presenting an unprecedented structure for any anilato-based compound. This structural type is a 3,6-connected 2D coordination polymer derived from the well-known honeycomb hexagonal structure, where Fe(III) ions alternate with Na+ dimers (as Na2O12 units) in the vertices of the hexagons and with an additional [Fe(C6N2O8)3]3- anion located in the center of the hexagons connecting the three Na+ dimers. The processing of an originally non-porous 1D coordination polymer as monolithic gel, xerogel and aerogel is reported as an alternative method to obtain novel metal-organic porous materials, conceptually different to conventional crystalline porous coordination polymer (PCPs) or metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Although the work herein reported is focused upon a particular kind of coordination polymer ([M(μ-ox)(4-apy)2]n, M: Co(II), Ni(II)), the results are of interest in the field of porous materials and of MOFs, as the employed synthetic approach implies that any coordination polymer could be processable as a mesoporous material. The polymerization conditions were fixed to obtain stiff gels at the synthesis stage. Gels were dried at ambient pressure and at supercritical conditions to render well shaped monolithic xerogels and aerogels, respectively. The monolithic shape of the synthesis product is another remarkable result, as it does not require a post-processing or the use of additives or binders. The aerogels of the 1D coordination polymers are featured by exhibiting high pore volumes and diameters ranging in the mesoporous/macroporous regions which endow to these materials the ability to deal with large-sized molecules. The preparation and characterization of a novel hybrid material based on the combination of a 2D-layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanosheets and a 1D-coordination polymer (1D-CP) has been achieved through a simple mixture of suspensions of both building blocks via an exfoliation/restacking approach. The hybrid material has been thoroughly characterized demonstrating that the 1D-CP moieties are intercalated as well as adsorbed on the surface of the LDH, giving rise to a layered assembly with the coexistence of the functionalities of their initial constituents. This hybrid represents the first example of the assembly of 1D/2D nanomaterials combining LDH with CP and opens the door for a plethora of different functional hybrid systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A new 1D chained coordination polymer of Zn(II), {[Zn(L)2(4,4'-bipy)]⋅(H2O)}n(1) (HL = N-acetyl-L-phenylalanine; 4,4'-bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and X-ray single crystal diffraction analysis. Theresults show that each asymmetric unit of Zn(II) complex belongs to monoclinic, space group P21 with α = 11.421(2) Å, b = 9.2213(17) Å, c = 15.188(3) A,β = 106.112(3)°, V= 1536.7(5) ų, Z = 2, Dc = 1.444 g⋅cm-3, μ = 0.857 mm-1, F(000) = 696, and final R1 = 0.0439, ωR2 = 0.1013. The molecules form one-dimensional chained structure by its the bridging 4,4'-bipyridine ligands. A new Ca(II) coordination polymer, [{CaL2⋅(H2O)2⋅2H2O}]n (1) (L = 2-[(E)-(2-furoylhydrazono)methyl]benzenesulfonate), has been obtained by one-pot method, and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum, and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. The results showed that the Ca(II) coordination crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group with P21212, α = 16.355(3) Å, b = 17.478(4) Å, c = 5.4549(11) Å, α = β = γ = 90.00°, V = 1559.3(5) ų, Z = 2, Mr = 698.69, Dc = 1.488 g/cm³, T = 293(2) K, F(000) = 724, H(Mo£a) = 0.408 mm-1, R = 0.0703 and wR = 0.1848. The Ca(II) ion is coordinated with four O atoms from two L ligands and two O atoms from two coordinated H2O molecules, and generates a distorted octahedral geometry. The 1D chained structure of Ca(II) coordination polymer is constructed from the bridging of SO3- groups. Five coordination polymers with the stoichiometry CaX2(valine)2(H2O)2 (X = Cl, Br) were obtained from the corresponding calcium halides and either racemic and enantiopure valine. In all cases the zwitterionic amino acid is exclusively O coordinated and the halides act as counteranions for the resulting one-dimensional cationic chains. The enantiopure chloride shows dimorphism; both forms differ in connectivity from the bromide. A new mixed-valence Cu(I)--Cu(II) 1D coordination polymer, [CuI4CuIIBr4(Cy2dtc)2]n, with an infinite chain structure is synthesized by the reaction of Cu(Cy2dtc)2 (Cy2dtc- = dicyclohexyl dithiocarbamate, C13H22NS2) with CuBr•S(CH3)2. The as-synthesized polymer consists of mononuclear copper(II) units of CuII (Cy2dtc)2 and tetranuclear copper(I) cluster units, CuI4Br4. In the cluster unit, all the CuI ions have distorted trigonal pyramidal coordination geometries, and the CuI -CuI or CuI-CuII distances between the nearest copper ions are shorter than the sum of van der Waals radii for Cu-Cu. Herein, we present the syntheses of a novel coordination polymer (CP) based on the perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylate (pery) linkers and sodium metal ions. We have chosen sodium metal center with the aim of surmising the effect that the modification of the metal ion may have on the relative humidity (RH) experimental measurements of the material. We confirm the role of the ions in the functionalization of the deposited layer by modifying their selectivity towards moisture content, paving the way to the generation of sensitive and selective chemical sensors. The selective preparation, structural and spectroscopic study of two new rhenium cluster complexes trans-[Re6S8(bpy)4(CN)2] and trans-[Re6S8(bpy)2(CN)4]2− (bpy = 4,4′-bipyridine) obtained by reactions of corresponding hexarhenium cyanohalides with molten bpy are reported. The complexes were crystallized as solvates, displaying supramolecular structures based on cluster units linked by numerous weak interactions with bpy molecules. The molecular compound trans-[Re6S8(bpy)4(CN)2] (1) is insoluble in water and common organic solvents, while the ionic compound trans-Cs1.7K0.3[Re6S8(bpy)2(CN)4] (2) is somewhat soluble in DMSO, DMF and N-methylpyrrolidone. The presence of the redox-active ligand bpy leads to the occurrence of multi-electron reduction transitions in a solution of 2 at moderate potential values. The ambidentate CN− ligand is the secondary functional group, which has potential for the synthesis of coordination polymers based on the new cluster complexes. The synthesis of amide-based molecules, possessing pre-organized structures, has received significant attention due to their potential applications as molecular receptors and as components of nanomaterials. In this study, four extended tetraamide ligands incorporating ethylene and propylene spacers, namely 1,2-bis[N,N′-6-(3-pyridylmethylamido)pyridyl-2-carboxyamido]ethane (L1), 1,2-bis[N,N′-6-(4-pyridylmethylamido)pyridyl-2-carboxyamido]ethane (L2), 1,2-bis[N,N′-6-(3-pyridylmethylamido)pyridyl-2-carboxyamido]propane (L3) and 1,2-bis[N,N′-6-(4-pyridylmethylamido)pyridyl-2-carboxyamido]propane (L4), were successfully synthesized. Further, reaction of L2 and L4, incorporating pendant 4-pyridyl donors as the metal coordinating sites, with cadmium salts, produced two close-packed one-dimensional coordination polymers, {[Cd3(L2)4(H2O)10](NO3)6·12H2O·CH3OH}n and {[Cd(SO4)(L4)(H2O)2]·4H2O·CH3OH}n. X-ray crystallography reveals that the flexible tetraamide ligands fold upon themselves in the coordination polymer structure. As a consequence, the anion pocket in {[Cd(SO4)(L4)(H2O)2]·4H2O·CH3OH}n incorporating the ligand with the propylene spacer was blocked from encapsulating charge-balancing anions, which were involved in bridging the di-cadmium units. Interestingly, a strong interaction between the 2,6-pyridine dicarboxamide moiety with the nitrate anions was found in {[Cd3(L2)4(H2O)10](NO3)6·12H2O·CH3OH}n, showing potential for materials made from these ligands to serve as anion receptors. The synthesis and characterization of coordination polymers and metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) has attracted a significant interest over the last decades due to their fascinating physical properties, as well as their use in a wide range of technological, environmental, and biomedical applications. The initial use of 2-pyridyl oximic ligands such as pyridine-2 amidoxime (H2pyaox) and 2-methyl pyridyl ketoxime (Hmpko) in combination with 1,2,4,5-benzene tetracarboxylic acid (pyromellitic acid), H4pma, provided access to nine new compounds whose structures and properties are discussed in detail. Among them, [Zn2(pma)(H2pyaox)2(H2O)2]n (3) and [Cu4(OH)2(pma)(mpko)2]n (9) are the first MOFs based on a 2-pyridyl oxime with 9 possessing a novel 3,4,5,8-c net topology. [Zn2(pma)(H2pyaox)2]n (2), [Cu2(pma)(H2pyaox)2(DMF)2]n (6), and [Cu2(pma)(Hmpko)2(DMF)2]n (8) join a small family of coordination polymers containing an oximic ligand. 9 exhibits selectivity for FeIII ions adsorption, as was demonstrated by a variety of techniques including UV-vis, EDX, and magnetism. DC magnetic susceptibility studies in 9 revealed the presence of strong antiferromagnetic interactions between the metal centers, which lead to a diamagnetic ground state; it was also found that the magnetic properties of 9 are affected by the amount of the encapsulated Fe3+ ions, which is a very desirable property for the development of magnetism-based sensors. A relatively unexplored synthetic route in redox-active Mn(II/III) coordination chemistry has been employed toward the preparation of a new mixed-valence MnII/III 1-D linear chain from the reaction of [MnIII(sacb)2]− precursor with a MnII source, where sacbH2 is the Schiff base ligand N-salicylidene-2-amino-5-chlorobenzoic acid. The mononuclear (Pr2NH2)[MnIII(sacb)2] (1) compound was obtained in excellent yields (>85%) from the 1:2:3 reaction of Mn(O2CMe)2∙4H2O, sacbH2 and Pr2NH, respectively. In 1, the two doubly deprotonated sacb2− ligands act as Ocarboxylate,Nimine,Ophenoxide-tridentate chelates, while the second carboxylate O atom of sacb2− is dangling and H-bonded to the Pr2NH2+ countercation. Complex 1 was subsequently used as a 'ligand' to react stoichiometrically with the 'metal' Mn(NO3)2∙4H2O, thus leading to the 1-D coordination polymer {[MnIIMnIII(sacb)2(H2O)2(MeOH)2](NO3)}n (2) in good yields (~50%). The removal of Pr2NH2+ from the vicinity of the [MnIII(sacb)2]− metalloligand has rendered possible (vide infra) the coordination of the second Ocarboxylate of sacb2− to neighboring {MnII(H2O)2(MeOH)2}2+ units, and consequently the formation of the 1-D polymer 2. Direct-current (dc) magnetic susceptibility studies revealed the presence of very weak antiferromagnetic exchange interactions between alternating MnIII and MnII atoms with a coupling constant of J = −0.08 cm−1 for g = 2.00. The combined results demonstrate the potential of the 'metal complexes as ligands' approach to yield new mixed-valence Mn(II/III) coordination polymers with interesting structural motifs and physicochemical properties. Three novel Zn-based coordination polymers (CPs), [Zn(MIPA)]n (1), {[Zn(MIPA)(4,4′-bipy)0.5(H2O)]·1.5H2O}n (2), and {[Zn(MIPA)(bpe)]·H2O}n (3) (MIPA = 4-methoxyisophthalic acid, 4,4′-bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine, bpe = (E)-1,2-di(pyridine-4-yl)ethane), were constructed by ligand 4-methoxyisophthalic acid under solvothermal conditions. Compound 1 features a beaded 2D-layer architecture, while compound 2 presents a 2-fold interpenetrating structure with a uninodal three-connected hcb topology. Compound 3 has a 3-fold interpenetrated four-connected dmp topology. Photoluminescence investigations of compound 2 were explored in detail, by which ions were detected, and it was observed to have the highest quenching efficiency toward Al3+ and S2− ions. The possible fluorescence quenching mechanisms of 2 toward Al3+ and S2− ions were also explored. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first potential dual-responsive luminescent probe based on a Zn(II) coordination polymer for detecting Al3+ and S2− ions via a luminescence quenching effect in ethanol. Ionothermal synthesis is a little used method for the preparation of coordination polymers. By this method, two cadmium compounds were synthesized, 1, with formula Cd3(ox)F2(Ina)2 (Ina = isonicotinate) and 2, Cd(NO3)2(4,4′-Bpy) (4,4′-Bpy = 4,4′-Bipyridine). The modification of the reaction conditions has allowed to obtain 2 as a pure phase. The structure of both compounds was determined by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 is isostructural to the previously reported Cd2Zn(ox)(OH)2(Ina)2. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n and present a three-dimensional (3D) network, built-up from [Cd3(ox)F2]n2n+ layers, linked by isonicotinate ligands. Crystals of 2 are formed by twins of two components which are rotated ca. 180° to each other. This compound crystallizes in the triclinic P-1 space group and its structure can be describe as a two-dimensional (2D) 4 connected 'sql' net. The layers are composed by [Cd(NO3)2]n chains linked through 4,4′-Bpy ligands, and are pillared along the [011] direction. The thermal decomposition of 2 was studied by thermogravimetric and thermodiffractiometric techniques. Two interpenetrated coordination polymers (CPs) {[Zn1(L)(NO2pbda)]n[Zn2(L)(NO2pbda)]n} (1) and [Zn(L)(Brpbda)]n (2) were prepared by reactions of zinc sulfate heptahydrate with N-donor ligands of 1,4-di(1H-imidazol-4-yl)benzene (L) and auxiliary carboxylic acids of nitroterephthalic acid (H2NO2pbda) and 2,5-dibromoterephthalic acid (H2Brpbda), respectively. The structures of the CPs were characterized by Fourier-Transform Infrared (IR) spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The coordination polymer 1 has two different (4, 4) sql 2D layer structures based on the [Zn(L)(NO2pbda)] moiety, which results in inclined interpenetration with a 2D + 2D → 3D architecture, while the CP 2 exhibits a 3-fold interpenetrating dmp network. Solvent can play a crucial role in the synthesis of coordination polymers (CPs). Here, this study reports how the coordinating solvent approach (CSA) can be used as an effective tool to control the nature of the final CP. This study exploited the system Cu(II)-4,4′-bipyridine coupled to different coordinating solvents, such as DMA, DMF and DMSO. This allowed the isolation and structurally characterization of four new CPs: three 2D layered networks and one 1D chain. Platooning strategy is an important component of autonomous driving technology. Autonomous vehicles in platoons are often equipped with a variety of on-board sensors to detect the surrounding environment. The abundant data collected by autonomous vehicles in platoons can be transmitted to the infrastructure through vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications using the IEEE 802.11 distributed coordination function (DCF) mechanism and then uploaded to the cloud platform through the Internet. The cloud platform extracts useful information and then sends it back to the autonomous vehicles respectively. In this way, autonomous vehicles in platoons can detect emergency conditions and make a decision in time. The characteristics of platoons would cause a fair-access problem in the V2I communications, i.e., vehicles in the platoons moving on different lanes with different velocities would have different resident time within the infrastructure's coverage and thus successfully send different amounts of data to the infrastructure. In this case, the vehicles with different velocities will receive different amounts of useful information from the cloud. As a result, vehicles with a higher velocity are more likely to suffer from a traffic accident as compared to the vehicles with a lower velocity. Hence, this paper considers the fair-access problem and proposes a fair-access scheme to ensure that vehicles with different velocities successfully transmit the same amount of data by adaptively adjusting the minimum contention window of each vehicle according to its velocity. Three new Zn(II) coordination polymers, {[Zn(L1)2(H2O)2]·4H2O}n (1), {[Zn(L2)(H2O)2]·0.5H2O}n (2), and {[Zn1.5(L1)(o-bdc)(H2O)]·0.5H2O}n (3) (HL1 = 3,5-di(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)benzoic acid, H2L2 = 5-(triazol-1-yl)isophthalic acid, o-H2bdc = 1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid), were successfully synthesized and characterized. Compound 1 exhibits 1D chain structure containing [Zn(L1)2] unit. Compound 2 shows a 2D plane with the ratio of Zn:L2 was 1:1 since L2 can match the positive charge of Zn(II). When L1 and o-bdc2– were presented together, Zn(II) centers are linked by L1 to form 2D double layers, then o-bdc2– further connected the adjacent layers to generate final 3D framework of 3. Two novel 3D cadmium(II) cyanide coordination polymers with branched-butoxyethanol compounds (iBucel = iso-butoxyethanol, tBucel = tert-butoxyethanol), [{Cd(CN)2(iBucel)2}{Cd(CN)2(H2O)(iBucel)}2{Cd(CN)2}6∙2(iBucel)]nI and [{Cd(CN)2(H2O)1.06(tBucel)0.94}{Cd(CN)2(tBucel)}2{Cd(CN)2}2∙1.06(tBucel)]nII, were synthesized and characterized by structural determination. Complex I contains two distinct Cd(II) coordination geometries: octahedral and tetrahedral. In contrast, complex II contains three distinct Cd(II) coordination geometries: octahedral, square-pyramidal, and tetrahedral. In the two complexes, branched-butoxyethanol molecules behave as both a ligand and a guest in the Cd(CN)2 cavities. The framework in I contains octahedral and tetrahedral Cd(II) in a 3:6 ratio. In I, the coordination environments of octahedral Cd(II) are cis-O-Cd-O. The framework in II contains octahedral, square-pyramidal, and tetrahedral Cd(II) in a 1:2:2 ratio. In II, the coordination environment of octahedral Cd(II) is disordered trans-O-Cd-O and the axial oxygen ligand is either a water or tBucel molecule. By employment of a pre-designed molecular building block [(pzTp)Fe(CN)3], one cyano-bridged trinuclear complex [MnMe4TACD][(pzTp)Fe(CN)3]2(H2O)161, [pzTp = tetrakis(pyrazoly)borate, Me4TACD = 1,4,7,10-tetramethyl-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane] and two 1D chain-like coordination polymers {[(pzTp)Fe(CN)3]2[M(Bim)2](H2O)2}n [M = Cu(II) for 2 and Mn(II) for 3, Bim = bis(1-imidazolyl)methane] were synthesized by making use of different nitrogen-containing organic linkers. The coordination polymers constructed by carboxylate ligand have shown novel structures and excellent properties. Therefore, a new Ca(II) coordination polymer with 2-carboxybenzaldehyde ligand, [Ca(L)2(H2O)2]n (L = 2-carboxybenzaldehyde), has been synthesized. Its structure has been identified by elemental analysis, FT-IR, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction technique. The Ca(II) coordination polymer exhibits a 1D chained structure by the bridging effect of carboxylate groups. The Ca(II) coordination polymer exhibited relatively good catalytic activity in the benzyl alcohol oxidation reaction with benzyl alcohol conversion (53.8%) and moderate benzaldehyde selectivity (83.3%).
