Background: As the demand for digital dentistry constantly increases, digital devices are gradually replacing conventional methods of recording occlusal contacts. The study aimed to assess the inter-rater reliability of occlusal contact point detection using 40 μm articulating paper, Medit i700, and OccluSense and to compare the distribution of occlusal contacts using the articulating paper and intraoral scanner. Material and Methods: The study included 25 participants aged 20 to 30 (13 women and 12 men). Photographs of contact points were taken and marked in maximum intercuspal position (MIP), in protrusive and laterotrusive movements, on working and non-working sides using 40 μm articulating paper and digital devices. The Cohen's Kappa coefficient assessed the inter-rater reliability. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used to compare dependent groups, articulating paper, and Medit i700. Results: The Cohen's Kappa index showed that almost perfect agreement was achieved with 40 μm articulating paper. Compared to Medit i700, the 40 μm articulating paper showed an increased mean number of contacts per tooth, except for the third molars. Conclusions: The 40 μm articulating paper has detected more overall contacts than the digital devices, particularly in the posterior areas. Background: The pulp and paper industry (P&PI) is undergoing significant disruption driven by global megatrends that necessitate advanced tools for predicting future behavior and adapting strategies accordingly. Methods: This work utilizes a multi-criteria framework to quantify the effects of digitalization, changes in social behavior, and sustainability as three major megatrends transforming the P&PI industry, with a specific focus on hygiene tissue products. Thus, the research combines a comprehensive literature review, insights from a Delphi study, and topic modeling to qualitatively and quantitatively assess the present and future impacts of these global megatrends. Results: The findings suggest an urgent need to identify alternative raw materials to prevent potential supply chain disruptions. Moreover, due to shifts in social behavior, it becomes critical for businesses to substantiate their sustainability claims with hard data to avoid the risk of a "greenwashing" perception among consumers. Conclusions: This study provides decision support for strategic planning by highlighting actionable insights, quantitative predictions, and trend analysis, alongside the examination of consumer and market trends. It aims to incorporate diverse stakeholder perspectives and criteria into decision-making processes, thereby enriching the strategic planning and sustainability efforts within the P&PI industry. In this article, we present the procedure of preparation of flexible electronic paper with a photosensitive azo dye layer as the key element for changing the orientation of the polarization plane. The main steps of the technology for the fabrication of flexible e-paper are reported. The possible production of Digital Mirror Devices and the roll-to-roll process is discussed. Images on flexible e-paper are demonstrated, including bank card options. The advantages of optically rewritable e-paper technology in comparison with the e-ink usually used for this purpose are highlighted. This research aimed to compare two strategies for vocabulary learning (digital-game-based learning and paper-based learning). The research was conducted during the first semester of the academic year 2022/2023. A total of 40 EFL undergraduate students within the Applied English Program of a private university located in the middle part of Taiwan were selected and divided into two groups: digital-based (n = 20) and paper-based (n = 20). The instrument developed by the researcher was pre- and post-vocabulary tests for both groups. The pre-vocabulary test was implemented to identify the level of students' prior knowledge of vocabulary mastery. For the intervention, Kahoot! quiz exercises were conducted weekly for the digital-game-based group, while the paper-based group received the same quiz on paper every week. The post-vocabulary tests showed no significant difference between the students using digital-game-based quizzes and paper-based quizzes during the six-week intervention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The advent of digital technology has revolutionized numerous aspects of modern life, including the field of assessment and testing. However, paper tests, despite their seemingly archaic nature, continue to hold a prominent position in various assessment domains. The accessibility, familiarity, security, cost-effectiveness, and versatility of paper tests collectively contribute to their continued prominence. Hence, numerous educational institutions responsible for conducting examinations involving a substantial number of candidates continue to rely on paper tests. Consequently, there arises a demand for the possibility of automated assessment of these tests, aiming to alleviate the burden on teaching staff, enhance objectivity in evaluation, and expedite the delivery of test results. Therefore, diverse software systems have been developed, showcasing the capability to automatically score specific question types. Thus, it becomes imperative to categorize related question types systematically, thereby facilitating a preliminary classification based on the content and format of the questions. This classification serves the purpose of enabling effective comparison among existing software solutions. In this research paper, we present the implementation of such a software system using artificial intelligence techniques, progressively expanding its capabilities to evaluate increasingly complex question types, with the ultimate objective of achieving a comprehensive evaluation of all question types encountered in paper-based tests. The system detailed above demonstrated a recognition success rate of 99.89% on a curated dataset consisting of 734,825 multiple-choice answers. For the matching type, it achieved a recognition success rate of 99.91% on 86,450 answers. Occupational safety and health is among the most challenging issues in many industrial workplaces, in that various factors can cause occupational illness and injury. Robotics, automation, and other state-of-the-art technologies represent risks that can cause further injuries and accidents. However, the tools currently used to assess risks in workplaces require manual work and are highly subjective. These tools include checklists and work assessments conducted by experts. Modern Industry 4.0 technologies such as a digital twin, a computerized representation in the digital world of a physical asset in the real world, can be used to provide a safe and healthy work environment to human workers and can reduce occupational injuries and accidents. These digital twins should be designed to collect, process, and analyze data about human workers. The problem is that building a human-focused digital twin is quite challenging and requires the integration of various modern hardware and software components. This paper aims to provide a brief survey of recent research papers on digital twins, focusing on occupational safety and health applications, which is considered an emerging research area. The authors focus on enabling technologies for human data acquisition and human representation in a virtual environment, on data processing procedures, and on the objectives of such applications. This study explored the association between renewable energy uptake and digitalization in the sector by reviewing relevant literature (published 2010–2022), with the aim of identifying the existing utilization of digital technologies within the sector, challenges to adoption, and future prospects. Different search engines (SCOPUS, Web of Science, and Google Scholar) were used to locate relevant papers and documents. The results revealed the high significance of digital technologies in supporting the renewable energy sector, with high costs and security risks representing the key challenges. Most papers reviewed had a positive outlook, but recommended further research and development for effective energy transition and resilient infrastructure. The current drivers of the integration of digital technologies to support the diffusion of renewable energy sources appear to extend beyond energy demand and involve many aspects of sustainability and sustainable development. Compared with previous reviews, this work has unique scope and novelty since it considers the bigger picture of the coupling between digitalization and the renewable energy sector, with a greater focus on critical areas in these two interconnected bodies that need to be addressed. Digital transformation and sustainability are both at the forefront of current supply chain developments. However, the specific mechanisms of how digital transformation and green supply chain development interact still need to be clarified, which can help supply chain business operators to enhance supply chain sustainability more effectively. This paper focuses on how the companies' organization structure and the socio-economic environment interact with digital technologies under the process of green supply chain development. Based on the "Technology–Organization–Environment" (TOE) framework, this paper analyze how digital transformation can drive green supply chain development. To test the TOE theoretical analysis framework, this paper calculates the digital transformation and green supply chain development index at the provincial level in China and conducts an empirical study. The main findings and implications of this paper can be summarized in the following aspects: First, according to the TOE theory, the external environment dimensions, such as the market and policy environments, affect the role of digital technology in promoting GSC development. Second, in the organizational dimensions, labor–capital relations, company size, and ownership factors can all affect the contribution of digital transformation to green supply chains. Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) represent a significant threat to patients' safety in dentistry, necessitating proactive measures for prevention and treatment. However, identifying ADRs of dental and oral interest can be challenging, and underreporting remains a persistent issue globally. This paper illustrates a smart system to help Italian healthcare personnel, including dentists, in identifying and reporting dental and oral ADRs. This educational program is within a larger multi-regional project financed by the Italian Agency of Drugs (AIFA). The proposed system comprises a free online questionnaire on ADRs of dental interest (including specific items about awareness and attitudes), and after the free consultation of an atlas of clinical images of dental and oral ADRs linked with a digital synopsis of drugs potentially related to ADRs. This section of the project was presented in April 2023 at the 30th National Congress of the Italian College of University Professors of Dental Disciplines, and the system appears to hold tremendous potential to improve the knowledge of healthcare professionals on oral and dental ADRs. The current media digitization and artistic strength are more powerful than the previous application. Using its advanced information display methods and technologies, this paper proposed a digital museum built by integrating digital media art with AR technology, which was helpful to analyze and solve the objective problems of current museums' ecological imbalance and single-system function. Based on the principles and laws of augmented reality technology, the museum guide system is optimized. In the system evaluation experiment, firstly, the cultural relics of six kinds of materials are used as the target image to extract and identify the features of the image. In experiments, the recognition performance of three feature algorithms, Binary Robust Invariant Scalable Keypoints (BRISK), organizational retaliatory behavior (ORB), and Accelerated-KAZE (AKAZE), is compared. Among them, the ORB algorithm is superior to other algorithms in feature richness and recognition speed but is inferior to the other two algorithms in recognition accuracy. Therefore, this paper optimized the ORB algorithm based on the characteristics of the ORB algorithm. The ORB algorithm must calculate the orientation of the feature points before constructing the feature descriptor. After optimizing the parameters, the improved ORB algorithm not only has advantages in feature richness and recognition time but also improves the recognition accuracy up to 98.3%, which is 16% higher than the traditional ORB algorithm. With the development of new-generation information technologies, such as big data and artificial intelligence, digital twins have become a key technology in intelligent manufacturing. The introduction of digital twin technology has addressed many problems in discrete manufacturing lines, including low visualization and difficult cyber–physical integration. However, the application of digital twin technology to discrete manufacturing lines still faces problems of low modeling accuracy, response delay, and insufficient production line control accuracy. Therefore, this paper proposes a digital twin four-dimension fusion modeling method to solve the above problems. First, a digital twin system architecture for a discrete manufacturing production line is designed. Then, the information control dimension is integrated into traditional digital twin modeling methods. Further, a digital twin geometry–physics–behavior–information control four-dimension fusion modeling method is proposed. This method can describe the geometric and physical characteristics of a physical entity and map its behavior mechanism. More importantly, it reveals the control logic and virtual–real mapping rules, which provides important support for the virtual–real intelligent mutual control. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method are verified by experiments on a fidget spinner discrete manufacturing line, and a digital twin operation and maintenance management system is developed. In the digital age, spreading false information has a far-reaching impact on various areas, such as society, politics, and the economy. With the popularization of applications of text generation models, the cost of producing false information has significantly decreased, making it challenging for human beings to screen it. Therefore, research on detection screening and early warning control for model-generated false information becomes particularly important. In this paper, we propose a model-generated false information detection and control system based on blockchain. Firstly, we design a model-generated false information detection method combining model-generated text discrimination based on a self-attention network and text similarity detection based on a twin network. Secondly, we construct a blockchain-based model-generated false information control and traceability system. It utilizes the proposed detection algorithm to provide early warning and control of model-generated false information involving important and sensitive events before social network release. For information judged to be model-generated false, the stored data on the blockchain is utilized to track and trace the publisher. Ultimately, experimental tests prove that the proposed detection method improves the accuracy of false information detection. The construction industry has been trying to enhance the level of digitalization and autonomy by adopting various communication and information technologies (ICT), e.g., augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), robotics, drones, or building information modeling (BIM). However, improvement of the safety and productivity in their domains is still a struggle. One of the main reasons for failing to accelerate their digital transformation is ignoring the deep understanding of the concept of digital twin, its usage, and the potential benefits of digital twins in the construction industry. Therefore, this paper investigated the impacts and potentials of digital twins on the construction industry through a quantitative systematic review assisted by the text mining method. The increasing prominence of climate change, geopolitical crises, and global economic slowdown highlights the challenges and structural deficiencies of traditional cross-border agro-food supply chains. As a result, there has been a growing consensus on the need to leverage digital technology to rebuild and innovate a safe, stable, and sustainable global food system. This study assessed the knowledge progress and development trends in the sustainable development of cross-border agro-food supply chains enabled by digital technology. A total of 352 authoritative papers from the core Web of Science database were selected for analysis. The Citespace tool was utilized to visually examine research elements. The findings reveal that research outcomes in this territory experienced a significant period of rapid growth, particularly after 2020. Sustainability and IEEE Access are the journals with the highest and second-highest number of publications. China and the France National Institute are the countries and research institutions with the largest number of publications in this field. The research hotspots are mainly the application of digital technologies, food safety, and supply chain system model innovation. In the past ten years, the research in this territory has gone through three stages: precise timeliness orientation, intelligent strategic decision-making orientation, and model predictability orientation. We further construct the 'antecedent–practice–performance' conceptual framework of the sustainability of the digital technology-enabled cross-border agro-food supply chain. Finally, this paper presents the potential research directions in this territory, focusing on four aspects: research method, research mechanism, research topic, and research frontier. Electrochemical biosensors include a recognition component and an electronic transducer, which detect the body fluids with a high degree of accuracy. More importantly, they generate timely readings of the related physiological parameters, and they are suitable for integration into portable, wearable and implantable devices that are significant relative to point-of-care diagnostics scenarios. As an example, the personal glucose meter fundamentally improves the management of diabetes in the comfort of the patients' homes. This review paper analyzes the principles of electrochemical biosensing and the structural features of electrochemical biosensors relative to the implementation of health monitoring and disease diagnostics strategies. The analysis particularly considers the integration of the biosensors into wearable, portable, and implantable systems. The fundamental aim of this paper is to present and critically evaluate the identified significant developments in the scope of electrochemical biosensing for preventive and customized point-of-care diagnostic devices. The paper also approaches the most important engineering challenges that should be addressed in order to improve the sensing accuracy, and enable multiplexing and one-step processes, which mediate the integration of electrochemical biosensing devices into digital healthcare scenarios. The halfway point for the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was marked in 2023, as set forth in the 2030 Agenda. Geospatial technologies have proven indispensable in assessing and tracking fundamental components of each of the 17 SDGs, including climatological and ecological trends, and changes and humanitarian crises and socio-economic impacts. However, gaps remain in the capacity for geospatial and related digital technologies, like AI, to provide a deeper, more comprehensive understanding of the complex and multi-factorial challenges delineated in the SDGs. Lack of progress toward these goals, and the immense implementation challenges that remain, call for inclusive and holistic approaches, coupled with transformative uses of digital technologies. This paper reviews transdisciplinary, holistic, and participatory approaches to address gaps in ethics and diversity in geospatial and related technologies and to meet the pressing need for bottom-up, community-driven initiatives. Small-scale, community-based initiatives are known to have a systemic and aggregate effect toward macro-economic and global environmental goals. Cybernetic systems thinking approaches are the conceptual framework investigated in this study, as these approaches suggest that a decentralized, polycentric system—for example, each community acting as one node in a larger, global system—has the resilience and capacity to create and sustain positive change, even if it is counter to top-down decisions and mechanisms. Thus, this paper will discuss how holistic systems thinking—societal, political, environmental, and economic choices considered in an interrelated context—may be central to building true resilience to climate change and creating sustainable development pathways. Traditional and Indigenous knowledge (IK) systems around the world hold holistic awareness of human-ecological interactions—practicable, reciprocal relationships developed over time as a cultural approach. This cultural holistic approach is also known as Systemic Literacy, which considers how systems function beyond "mechanical" aspects and include political, philosophical, psychological, emotional, relational, anthropological, and ecological dimensions. When Indigenous-led, these dimensions can be unified into participatory, community-centered conservation practices that support long-term human and environmental well-being. There is a growing recognition of the criticality of Indigenous leadership in sustainability practices, as well as that partnerships with Indigenous peoples and weaving knowledge systems, as a missing link to approaching global ecological crises. This review investigates the inequality in technological systems—the "digital divide" that further inhibits participation by communities and groups that retain knowledge of "place" and may offer the most transformative solutions. Following the review and synthesis, this study presents cybernetics as a bridge of understanding to Indigenous systems thinking. As non-Indigenous scholars, we hope that this study serves to foster informed, productive, and respectful dialogues so that the strength of diverse knowledges might offer whole-systems approaches to decision making that tackle wicked problems. Lastly, we discuss use cases of community-based processes and co-developed geospatial technologies, along with ethical considerations, as avenues toward enhancing equity and making advances in democratizing and decolonizing technology. With the rapid advancement of digital technology, three-dimensional designs of Grid Information Models (GIMs) are increasingly applied in the power industry. Addressing the challenges of extracting key parameters during the GIM's process for power grid equipment, this paper explores an innovative approach that integrates artificial intelligence with image recognition technologies into power design engineering. The traditional methods of "template matching, feature extraction and classification, and symbol recognition" have enabled the automated processing of electrical grid equipment engineering drawings, allowing for the extraction of key information related to grid equipment. However, these methods still rely on manually designed and selected feature regions, which limits their potential for achieving full automation. This study introduces an optimized algorithm that combines enhanced Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) with Depth-First Search (DFS) strategies, and is specifically designed for the automated extraction of crucial GIM parameters from power grid equipment. Implemented on the design schematics of power engineering projects, this algorithm utilizes an improved CNN to precisely identify component symbols on schematics, and continues to extract text data associated with these symbols. Utilizing a scene text detector, the text data are matched with corresponding component symbols. Finally, the DFS strategy is applied to identify connections between these component symbols in the diagram, thus facilitating the automatic extraction of key GIM parameters. Experimental results demonstrate that this optimized algorithm can accurately identify basic GIM parameters, providing technical support for the automated extraction of parameters using the GIM. This study's recognition accuracy is 91.31%, while a traditional CNN achieves 71.23% and a Faster R-CNN achieves 89.59%. Compared to existing research, the main innovation of this paper lies in the application of the combined enhanced CNN and DFS strategies for the extraction of GIM parameters in the power industry. This method not only improves the accuracy of parameter extraction but also significantly enhances processing speed, enabling the rapid and effective identification and extraction of critical information in complex power design environments. Moreover, the automated process reduces manual intervention, offering a novel solution in the field of power design. Providing feedback to students is one of the most effective ways to enhance their learning. With the advancement of technology, many tools have been developed to provide personalized feedback. However, these systems are only beneficial when interactions are done on digital platforms. As paper-based assessment is still a dominantly preferred evaluation method, particularly in large blended-instruction classes, the sole use of electronic educational systems presents a gap between how students learn the subject from the physical and digital world. This has motivated the design and the development of a new educational technology that facilitates the digitization, grading, and distribution of paper-based assessments to support blended-instruction classes. With the aid of this technology, different learning analytics can be readily captured. A retrospective analysis was conducted to understand the students' behaviors in an Object-Oriented Programming and Data Structures class from a public university. Their behavioral differences and the associated learning impacts were analyzed by leveraging their digital footprints. Results showed that students made significant efforts in reviewing their examinations. Notably, the high-achieving and the improving students spent more time reviewing their mistakes and started doing so as soon as the assessment became available. The early detection of cognitive impairment is essential in order to initiate interventions and guarantee access to healthcare services. Digital solutions are emerging in the literature as an alternative approach to cognitive screening. Our primary goal is to synthesize the evidence on digital solutions' diagnostic ability to screen for cognitive impairment and their accuracy. A secondary goal is to distinguish whether the ability to screen for cognitive impairment varies as a function of the type of digital solution: paper-based or innovative digital solutions. A systematic review and meta-analysis of digital solutions' diagnostic accuracy were conducted, including 25 studies. Digital solutions presented a variable diagnostic accuracy range. Innovative digital solutions offered at least 0.78 of sensitivity but showed lower specificity levels than the other subgroup. Paper-based digital solutions revealed at least 0.72 of specificity, but sensitivity started at 0.49. Most digital solutions do not demand the presence of a trained professional and include an automatic digital screening system and scoring, which can enhance cognitive screening and monitoring. Digital solutions can potentially be used for cognitive screening in the community and clinical practice, but more investigation is needed for an evidence-based decision. The promotion of the simultaneous advancement of digitalization and sustainability has emerged as a crucial concern for achieving high-quality economic growth within the framework of the 'dual-carbon' objective. Based on the micro data of Chinese A-share listed companies between 2009 and 2022, this paper systematically examines how digital transformation affects the ESG performance of enterprises in order to explore the effective path for digitalization to promote the sustainable development of enterprises. The results indicate that implementing digital transformation can enhance the ESG performance of enterprises, which in turn boosts their capacity for sustainable development. The test of the mechanism indicates that enhancing internal total factor productivity and optimizing external financial allocation efficiency are the key strategies for driving ESG performance improvement in companies through digital transformation. Further analysis reveals that the improvement effect of digital transformation on corporate ESG performance is more prominent in state-owned enterprises, non-heavily polluted industries, central and western, and low-marketization regions. In addition, while digital transformation enhances the ESG performance of enterprises themselves, it also creates beneficial ripple effects on the ESG metrics of their suppliers and customers, ultimately boosting the sustainable growth of the entire supply chain. Recent research has documented the relationship between the promotion of 'ideal', 'fit' bodies in social media, body image and associated body concerns and conditions. This article expands this scholarship, focusing specifically on gender, body disaffection and social media. Thus far, body disaffection has mostly been understood through a psychological framing, as a pathology residing within an individual and strongly associated with poor body image because of internalizing media images. In this paper, drawing on feminist new materialism, I offer a framing of body disaffection as a relational phenomenon. The paper draws on a mixed method study in England, with over 1000 young people examining their experiences with a range of digital health technologies. I focus specifically on their engagement with social media, to explore the relationship between ideal images and body concerns. Far from being a simple process of internalization of negative perceptions or image one has of their body, disaffection is formed through the body via a complex process of entanglement with social media and other elements. I outline how disaffection materialises as part of an assemblage of elements, including discourses, humans, bodies, digital objects and platforms. The paper reveals how entanglements with social media can generate powerful affects such as shame, pleasure and belonging along gendered lines, which may have significant implications for young people's relationships with their bodies. I analyse how social media events focused on the 'transformation' of bodies generate powerful affects, which open or limit capacities for what 'boys' or 'girls' bodies might become in deeply gendered and sometimes harmful ways. Digital health technologies (DHTs) at the intersection of health, medical informatics, and business aim to enhance patient care through personalised digital approaches. Ensuring the efficacy and reliability of these innovations demands rigorous clinical validation. A PubMed literature review (January 2006 to July 2023) identified 1250 papers, highlighting growing academic interest. A focused narrative review (January 2018 to July 2023) delved into challenges, highlighting issues such as diverse regulatory landscapes, adoption issues in complex healthcare systems, and a plethora of evaluation frameworks lacking pragmatic guidance. Existing frameworks often omit crucial criteria, neglect empirical evidence, and clinical effectiveness is rarely included as a criterion for DHT quality. The paper underscores the urgency of addressing challenges in accreditation, adoption, business models, and integration to safeguard the quality, efficacy, and safety of DHTs. A pivotal illustration of collaborative efforts to address these challenges is exemplified by the Digital Health Validation Center, dedicated to generating clinical evidence of innovative healthcare technologies and facilitating seamless technology transfer. This paper investigates the importance of digital presence for the emerging visual artists' careers. The study first examines how artists manage their digital presence and subsequently analyzes the impact of this presence on their careers by applying a model that consists of four objectives (branding, engagement, networking, and conversion). A qualitative method was employed, and interviews were conducted with illustrators at an early or emerging career stage. The findings demonstrate that an effective presence on digital platforms requires not only producing and showing artistic work but also managing an artistic brand, engaging with the audience, and making use of networking opportunities. It is also established that artists need to complement their digital presence with interactions in the physical world to increase the chances for advancing their careers. Digital twins aim to optimize practices implemented in various sectors by bridging the gap between the physical and digital worlds. Focusing on open-field agriculture, livestock farming, and forestry and reviewing the current applications in these domains, this paper reveals the multifaceted roles of digital twins. Diverse key aspects are examined, including digital twin integration and maturity level, means of data acquisition, technological capabilities, and commonly used input and output features. Through the prism of four primary research questions, the state of the art of digital twins, the extent of their achieved integration, and an overview of the critical issues and potential advancements are provided in the landscape of the sectors under consideration. The paper concludes that in spite of the remarkable progress, there is a long way towards achieving full digital twin. Challenges still persist, while the key factor seems to be the integration of expert knowledge from different stakeholders. In light of the constraints identified in the review analysis, a new sector-specific definition for digital twins is also suggested to align with the distinctive characteristics of intricate biotic and abiotic systems. The year 2024 marks one decade of scholarship in the new interdisciplinary field of Digital Death, concerning the study of death, dying and grief in the digital age. This paper addresses one key subfield of Digital Death Studies, here termed Digital Grief Studies, which centres on theory, research and design concerning grief in today's digitally saturated contexts. It argues that a classic grand pattern in scholarly treatments of grief—Grief Universalism—with a long, problematic history in Grief and Bereavement Studies, is reappearing in Digital Grief Studies. The Continuing Bonds theory of grief and its application in theory, research and design in Digital Grief Studies is used to demonstrate Grief Universalism in action in our field via hypothetical and fictional examples. This builds toward this paper's big aim: to illustrate what we as an emerging field stand to gain from positioning the established field of Grief and Bereavement Studies as a veritable goldmine of advances—as well as pitfalls, wrong turns, and recurrent problem patterns to be avoided—generated over a hundred years of scholarship concerning human grief. Companies from the mechanical engineering industry are eager to embrace new technologies in their pursuit of a competitive advantage. However, the complete digitalization of the sector encounters limitations, as certain aspects necessitate human supervision or manual labor. This is where the concepts of Industry 4.0, Industry 5.0, and digital transformation become relevant. The aim of the research presented in this paper was to gather and extract valuable insights and lessons from the experiences of German companies in the plastic extrusion machinery sector with digital transformation (DT). Qualitative interpretative research was used, using in-depth expert interviews with C-level executives. We organized the findings into three categories: (i) DT communication initiatives, including the elimination of paper, CRM solutions, messenger services, home office, and online procurement platforms; (ii) departments and areas most involved, including accounting and procurement, sales and production, and construction; and (iii) cost–benefit perception, including positive assessment, long-term impacts, and variation from company to company. The results provide valuable insights into the progress of DT initiatives in companies operating in the pipe extrusion sector in Germany. A dual-band UWB coplanar waveguide monopole antenna is presented in this paper. The antenna proposed in this paper consists of an FR4 substrate, two ground planes, and a rectangular patch. The size of the antenna proposed is 24 x 25 x 1 mm³ with a slit of length and width of 5.7 and 0.5 mm, respectively. We received two operating bands, a C- and Ku-band, with both Bi and Omni-directional radiation patterns. The bandwidth values of the first (3.65-7.49) GHz and second (11.5-13.4) GHz band of the proposed antenna are 3.9 GHz and 1.7 GHz, respectively. The proposed antenna operating at a frequency 5.8 GHz has a maximum bandwidth of 4.5 GHz and minimum bandwidth of 1.6 GHz. The characteristics of this antenna show that the antenna proposed in this paper is suitable for dual-band and UWB communication systems. We achieved a wide bandwidth by improving the ground plane. Urban digital infrastructure is the cornerstone of optimizing resource allocation and promoting sustainable economic development in the era of digital economy, and it will also affect corporate ESG performance. Based on the data of Chinese A-share listed companies from 2011 to 2021, an asymptotic difference-in-difference model is used to investigate the impact of urban digital infrastructure on corporate ESG performance based on the "broadband China" strategy and its underlying mechanism. This paper finds that urban digital infrastructure can promote corporate ESG performance. Further, urban digital infrastructure can contribute to corporate ESG performance by increasing research and development (R&D) investment, improving corporate governance, and increasing information transparency. Through heterogeneity analysis, the results show urban digital infrastructure contributes more significantly to the ESG performance of state-owned, small and medium, growth-stage, and low-profit companies and is more pronounced in non-heavy polluting companies and companies in the central and western regions. As cyberattacks become increasingly sophisticated and frequent, it is crucial to develop robust cybersecurity measures that can withstand adversarial attacks. Adversarial simulation is an effective technique for evaluating the security of systems against various types of cyber threats. However, traditional adversarial simulation methods may not capture the complexity and unpredictability of real-world cyberattacks. In this paper, we propose the improved deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithm to enhance adversarial attack simulation for cybersecurity with real-world scenarios from MITRE-ATT&CK. We first describe the challenges of traditional adversarial simulation and the potential benefits of using DRL. We then present an improved DRL-based simulation framework that can realistically simulate complex and dynamic cyberattacks. We evaluate the proposed DRL framework using a cyberattack scenario and demonstrate its effectiveness by comparing it with existing DRL algorithms. Overall, our results suggest that DRL has significant potential for enhancing adversarial simulation for cybersecurity in real-world environments. The advent of the digital era has put forward an urgent need for the digitization of metrology, and the digitization of metrology vocabularies is one of the fundamental and critical steps to achieve the digital transformation of metrology. Metrology vocabulary ontology can facilitate the exchange and sharing of data and is an important way to achieve the digitization of metrology vocabulary. Time metrology vocabulary is a special and important part of the whole metrology vocabulary, and constructing its ontology can reduce the problems caused by semantic confusion, help to smooth the progress of metrological work, and promote the digital transformation of metrology. Currently, the existing ontology for metrology vocabulary is primarily the MetrOnto ontology, but it lacks a systematic description of the vocabulary of time metrology. To address this issue, improve the metrology vocabulary ontology, and lay the groundwork for realizing the digital transformation of metrology, this paper takes time metrology vocabulary as the research object; proposes a classification principle that meets the inherent requirements of time transfer in the digital world; adopts the seven-step method of ontology construction to construct an ontology specialized in time metrology vocabulary, OTMV (Ontology of Time Metrology Vocabulary); and conducts an ontology consistency check, a machine-readable validation, a machine-understandable primary validation, and information retrieval validation on it. The validation results show that OTMV has correct syntactic and logical consistency and is capable of realizing machine-readable, machine-understandable, and information retrieval. Under the influence of pervasive digital revolution, the accessibility and analysis of 'big data' can provide useful insights and help various industries evolve. Despite the popularity of big data, the construction industry is lagging behind other industries in adopting big data technologies. This paper fills the knowledge gap by examining the status quo of big data adoption in companies with different sizes and roles, as well as that in projects with different types, and ascertaining the drivers for and challenges in adopting big data. This paper employed a structured questionnaire survey and statistical analyses to investigate the significance of factors influencing the drivers, challenges, and enhancement strategies of big data adoption, and validated the results with post-study interviews with construction professionals. The results show that big data adoption in the construction industry is affected by the size of companies and the work experience of their employees. Technology advancement, competitiveness, and government plan and policy initiatives are identified as the top three drivers of big data adoption in the construction sector. Moreover, a lack of appropriate supporting systems, difficulties in data collection, and the shortage of knowledge and experience are found to be the major challenges in big data adoption. Finally, the identified top three strategies for overcoming these challenges and promoting big data adoption are 'clear organization structure', 'government incentives', and 'the training of information technology (IT) personnel'. In the digital age, China's economic development is transitioning from high speed to high quality. Through the application of digital technology, China's manufacturing industry is moving toward more environmentally friendly and sustainable innovation, which makes it of great significance to study the effect of green investment and big data on innovation. Grounded in strategic management theory, this paper examines the interplay between CEO big data orientation, environmental investment, and their joint impact on technological innovation in manufacturing enterprises. Data are extracted from annual reports of listed Chinese manufacturing companies using computer-assisted text analysis methods and evaluated with negative binomial regression. The results indicate an inverted U-shaped relationship between CEO big data orientation and technological innovation. The results further explain that as CEO big data orientation increases, enterprises with higher levels of green investment will reach the peak of technological innovation performance earlier. The role and potential impact of digital screen technology in the lives of children is heavily debated. Current evidence is limited by the weakness of measures typically used to characterise screen use, predominantly proxy- or self-reports with known inaccuracy and bias. However, robust and detailed evidence is needed to provide practical trustworthy guidance to families and professionals working with families. The purpose of this paper is to support researchers to select measurement method(s) that will provide robust and detailed evidence. The paper outlines the challenges in measuring contemporary screen use by children, using a child–technology interaction model to organise considerations. A range of different methods used to measure digital screen technology use in children and adolescents (i.e., questionnaires, diaries, electronically prompted sampling, direct observation, fixed room cameras, wearable/portable cameras, audio recorders, screen-device onboard logging, remote digital trace logging and proximity logging) are described along with examples of their use and constructs typically measured as well as a summary of the advantages and disadvantages of each method. The adoption of data science brings vast benefits to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) including business productivity, economic growth, innovation and job creation. Data science can support SMEs to optimise production processes, anticipate customers' needs, predict machinery failures and deliver efficient smart services. However, integrating data science decisions into an SME requires both skills and IT investments. This paper presents trends and challenges towards effective data-driven decision making for organisations based on a 3-year long study which covered more than 85 UK SMEs, mostly from the West Midlands region of England. Public sector digitalisation is transforming public governance at an accelerating rate. Digitalisation is outpacing the evolution of the legal framework. Despite several strands of international efforts to adjust good administration guarantees to new modes of digital public governance, progress has so far been slow and tepid. The increasing automation of decision-making processes puts significant pressure on traditional good administration guarantees, jeopardises individual due process rights, and risks eroding public trust. Automated decision-making has, so far, attracted the bulk of scholarly attention, especially in the European context. However, most analyses seek to reconcile existing duties towards individuals under the right to good administration with the challenges arising from digitalisation. Taking a critical and technology-centred doctrinal approach to developments under the law of the European Union and the Council of Europe, this paper goes beyond current debates to challenge the sufficiency of existing good administration duties. By stressing the mass effects that can derive from automated decision-making by the public sector, the paper advances the need to adapt good administration guarantees to a collective dimension through an extension and a broadening of the public sector's good administration duties: that is, through an extended ex ante control of organisational risk-taking, and a broader ex post duty of automated redress. The Digital Twin is one of the major technology trends of the last decade. During the course of its rapid expansion into various fields of application, many definitions of the Digital Twin emerged, tailored to its respective applications. Taxonomies can cluster the diversity and define application-specific archetypes. This paper presents a systematic characterization of the Digital Twin in the context of structural mechanics and lightweight design. While the importance of a shared understanding and the development of holistic solutions for implementing Digital Twins in various application areas is widely recognized, a general framework for implementing Digital Twins in structural mechanics has not yet been established. In this paper, we systematically characterize Digital Twins and develop a framework for their application in structural mechanics, enabling the digital design and monitoring of structures for improved performance and maintenance strategies. The key contributions include collecting and clustering design and operational requirements and deriving two central archetypes: structure-designing and structure-monitoring Digital Twins. The primary goal is to reduce the complexity of conceptualizing Digital Twins of structures by providing a preliminary framework and reconsidering the Digital Twins of structures as a holistic system throughout the product life cycle. This paper presents the comprehensive state-of-the-art on the challenges that short sea shipping currently faces across the world. The concept and its relationship with coastal shipping are introduced, followed by a review of the EU policies for short sea shipping and its practical impacts in modal split. A survey of the literature on the strong and weak points of this form of transportation is carried out, aimed at explaining the difficulties in achieving relevant modal shifts from road to sea. The experience with short sea shipping across the world is described and discussed, providing a global perspective. The paper then discusses the main challenges and opportunities in this field, namely decarbonisation, autonomous navigation, and digitalization. A continuing need to improve health, safety and wellbeing in construction has led to multiple research projects and technological innovations. One such innovation is the Safety Risk Library: a repository of data that functions in BIM environments to assist designers and contractors in identifying health and safety risk scenarios and offer suitable validated treatments to mitigate their effects. This paper reports on the deployment of this library in several construction projects across the United Kingdom and reviews expert and practitioner opinions of such digital solutions for improving health and safety in the future. This paper makes several contributions. The description of an effective process for knowledge base creation, including the data extraction workflow, the anonymization of data and the definition of communication channels aligned to project working practices, is instructive for innovation developers, providing informative guidance through lessons learned. The discussion of expert and practitioner opinions of the functional knowledge base to improve health and safety performance could inform further technological developments in the field and provide empirical insights for developers. The digital age has rekindled popular and academic interest in immortality. While the idea of immortality has long been recognized as fundamental to human societies, unlike death, within the field of sociology, immortality has not yet established itself as a distinct and autonomous field of study. This paper contributes to the recently emerging scholarship promoting a sociology of immortality. Drawing inspiration from C. Wright Mills's sociological imagination (1959) and building upon significant research in the field of immortality, we offer to use the concept of the immortological imagination as an analytical and conceptual tool for further developing a sociology of immortality. We refer to the immortological imagination as a complementary concept to Penfold-Mounce's thanatological imagination, seeing both concepts as stemming from two different lineages and academic traditions. After defining the immortological imagination and how it differs from and complements the thanatological imagination, the paper moves to discuss examples in popular culture establishing the potential impacts and influences of the immortological imagination, particularly within the digital context. Integrated technology management in building smart ports or intelligent ports is a crucial concern for global sustainable development, especially when human societies are facing increasing risks from climate change, sea-levels rising, and supply chain disruptions. By mapping the knowledge base of 103 papers on intelligent ports, retrieved in late December 2022 from the Web of Science, this study conducted a roadmapping exercise using knowledge mapping findings, assisted by Bibliometrix, VoSviewer, and customized Python scripts. The three structural (intellectual, social, and conceptual) aspects of knowledge structure reveal the significance of the internet of things (IoT), the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0), digitalization and supply chains, and the need for digital transformation alignment across various stakeholders with Industry 4.0 practices. Furthermore, an even geographical distribution and institutional representation was observed across major continents. The results of the analysis of the conceptual structure demonstrated the existence of several established and emerging clusters of research, namely (1) industry data, IoT, and ICT, (2) industry 4.0, (3) smart airports, (4) automation; and (5) protocol and security. The overall empirical findings revealed the underlying technology and innovation management issues of digital transformation alignment across stakeholders in IoT, Industry 4.0, 5G, Big Data, and AI integrated solutions. In relation to roadmapping, this study proposed a socio-technical transition framework for prototyping ecosystem innovations surrounding smart sustainable ports, focusing on contributing to valuable carbon or greenhouse gas emission data governance, management, and services in global value chains. With the rapid development of the Internet and digital technology, digital infrastructure has become an important part of urban infrastructure. Many cities are enacting smart policies to promote the development of digital technology infrastructure. However, what are their mechanisms? There is currently a shortage of literature on the subject. This paper tried to solve this problem and used China as an example. Using panel data from cities in China, this paper used the spatial multiple-period difference-in-difference (SDID) method to investigate the impact of smart city policy (SCP) on digital infrastructure. First, we found that SCP significantly promotes the construction of digital infrastructure, with strong positive spatial spillover effects. This result remained valid after a series of rigorous robustness tests. Second, we discovered that the indirect effects of policy implementation outweigh the direct effects. Furthermore, smart city development enhances local government investment in digital infrastructure, attracts more high-tech enterprises, and consequently drives improvements in urban digital infrastructure levels. Lastly, we observed that the effectiveness of smart city policies is stronger in cities with good fiscal conditions, strong economic development, and a thriving digital economy. In this paper, a bibliometric, content and thematic analysis of digitalization in maritime transport and seaports was performed. The research was primarily motivated by the scarcity of similar works offering a comprehensive and recent literature analysis, the advancements of the maritime digitalization itself, and its influence on all related processes. The initial investigation phase considered 8178 publications, leading through the research steps to the final inclusion of 280 papers, the thematic and content analysis of which were performed using various bibliometric tools. The research encompassed various criteria, ranging through databases, keywords, topics, research areas and others. The resulting concept map emphasized the main concepts that digitalization in maritime transport relies on, or strives towards. The aim of the study was to address the fundamental research questions, with the tendency to define the main key points in the current maritime transport and seaport digitalization process. It can be concluded that an increasing number of authors recognize the importance of new digital technologies in maritime transport and seaports. The subject matter addressed in the paper concerns digital technology platforms in the context of renewable energy sources. The main goal is to check whether digital technology platforms can be effective factors in implementing innovative business models in the RES sector. The study was based on empirical research using Computer-Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI) and Computer-Assisted Web Interview (CAWI) methods, as well as on a model of attitudes towards digital technology platforms (DTPs) built using CATREG (categorical regression) analysis. As a result of the research, it was found that digital technology platforms contribute to building innovative business models. The decisive influence on this is a number of benefits for enterprises and consumers (and the related factor is the most important when it comes to attitudes towards DTP), as well as the high interest in digital RES platforms.
