This article explores how the precarity of migrants working in the national labour markets of the Global North is shaped throughout the entire transnational migration process encompassing the planning, the journey as well as the arrival, re-arrival, and engagement across the sending and the receiving societies. Introducing the concept of convoluted mobility, the article analyses how the mediation of transnational labour migration is uneven and filled with frictions of de-tours, stuckness, and obstacles leaving the migrant workers in precarious positions across the sending and receiving societies. Through the empirical examples of Ukrainian migrants working within the agricultural industry in Denmark and brokers in Ukraine, we argue that the precarity of the migrants is established through convoluted mobility characterised by the interlink between the transnational migration infrastructure that moves the migrants and the migrants’ autonomy moving through the migration infrastructure.

Purpose: Robotic-assisted gait training (RAGT) is suggested to improve walking ability after stroke. The purpose of this study was to describe experiences of robotic-assisted gait training as part of a gait training intervention among persons in the chronic phase after stroke. Materials and methods: Semi-structured interviews were performed with 13 participants after a 6-week intervention including treadmill gait training with the Hybrid Assistive Limb® (HAL) exoskeleton. Data were analysed using qualitative content analysis. Results: Four categories emerged: (1) A rare opportunity for potential improvements describes the mindset before the start of the intervention; (2) Being pushed to the limit represents the experience of engaging in intensive gait training; (3) Walking with both resistance and constraints reveals barriers and facilitators during HAL training; (4) Reaching the end and taking the next step alone illustrates feelings of confidence or concern as the intervention ended. Conclusions: The gait training intervention including RAGT was considered demanding but appreciated. Support and concrete, individual feedback was crucial for motivation, whilst the lack of variation was a barrier. Results encourage further development of exoskeletons that are comfortable to wear and stimulate active participation by enabling smoothly synchronised movements performed during task-specific activities in different environments. To evaluate the outcomes of gonioscopy-assisted transluminal trabeculotomy (GATT) in adult eyes with uncontrolled uveitic glaucoma.We reviewed 16 eyes from 13 patients. Surgical success was defined as intraocular pressure (IOP) reduction20% from baseline or IOP between 5 and 21 mmHg by the 3-month visit while on a stable number or fewer IOP-lowering agents and no need for additional glaucoma surgery.At 12 months, the cumulative success rate was 81%. Mean IOP was 37.8 ± 13.0 mmHg at baseline and 12.2 ± 3.0 mmHg at 12 months (68% reduction;This small retrospective study suggests that GATT is effective and safe as an initial surgical treatment for medically refractory glaucoma in uveitic adult eyes.

PURPOSE: To investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the pulmonary toxicity induced by exposure to one form of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT-7). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Rats were exposed, by whole-body inhalation, to air or an aerosol containing MWCNT-7 particles at target cumulative doses (concentration × time) ranging from 22.5 to 180 (mg/m(3))h over a three-day (6 hours/day) period and toxicity and global gene expression profiles were determined in the lungs. RESULTS: MWCNT-7 particles, associated with alveolar macrophages (AMs), were detected in rat lungs following the exposure. Mild to moderate lung pathological changes consisting of increased cellularity, thickening of the alveolar wall, alveolitis, fibrosis, and granuloma formation were detected. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) toxicity parameters such as lactate dehydrogenase activity, number of AMs and polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs), intracellular oxidant generation by phagocytes, and levels of cytokines were significantly (p < 0.05) increased in response to exposure to MWCNT-7.
