ICT (Information and Communication Technology) is the main driving force for the people's economic growth. All areas of human life have been seized with advances in ICT, including agricultural which is the basis of food for Indonesian society. ICT can improve productivity. This can also be influenced by the age characteristics of the farmers in each region. This research was to prove the effects of ICT access to agricultural farmers in Manado. By using the theory of network society (Network Society Theory) using a survey method with respondents coming from three farmer groups data to 109 farmers in Manado. According to the survey results, it is evident that the majority of farmers in Manado region still rely heavily on television and YouTube. Manado farmers aged around 30 to 50 years, it is assumed that using ICTs to communicate and access information productively among farmers can increase their productivity, especially in the era of new media like today. Results showed that media usage had a strong and positive correlation factor that influence farmers in accessing agricultural information come from internal and external. Adopting ICTs in agricultural extension was crucial in facilitating farmers to access new markets for their produce and acquire information on the current trend in agriculture.

This article reviews the concepts presented with the conceptual framework of the network society, both in historical and present considerations, and extends them towards creating an analytical probe for information flow micro-structure on Twitter. By considering the effects of societal interconnectedness as it relates to individuals, the philosophical foundations of the network society are predicated on network interconnectedness that goes beyond institutional integration. Although the manifestations are progressively becoming apparent, the literature is still largely lacking in empirical results to facilitate further theoretical developments. Specifically; we present arguments that support the notion that society is becoming highly interconnected, and that these developments warrant study. As a technical contribution, we present the foundations for an analytical tool that is formulated from the joint application of machine learning and network science. Technically, we construct a multilayer network composed of: user interaction patterns, topics that characterize the discourse, and the entities that are referenced in the discourse. The multilayer network then forms the mathematical object on which analysis can be conducted, and allows us to study information flow micro-structure. The set of multilayer networks, that is generated by varying time, serves as a technical underpinning on which to characterize information flow micro-structure on Twitter. As an overarching theme, we argue that developing an understanding of such information flows is of significance to: commercial entities, governments, and the general populace.

The dissemination of public opinion has a considerable impact on people's social lives, and the question of how both the government and the media can correctly guide public opinion and restore social stability is an issue that requires urgent attention. Combining the characteristics of public opinion dissemination in the network society leads to individual interaction. Considering the interaction between individual views and network topology, this paper combines the collaborative network model with the distance-constrained Hegselmann-Krause (HK) model to propose a consensus-guided strategy based on interaction constraints. It does this by changing the network topology and limiting the scope of individual interactions, thereby affecting the spread of public opinion. Based on the small-world network, the collaborative network model introduces the two parameters of Connection edge probability p and broken edge probability q, while also proposing a collaborative network model for Connection edge's breaking of the network based on the difference of individual opinion values. This paper designs simulation experiments by changing p, q, and the interaction distance, while also analyzing the results of public opinion's evolution from the perspectives of timeliness and the diversity of viewpoints. The experimental results show that when individuals are restricted from interacting with the surrounding environment and the scope of interaction between individuals is restricted, this will slow down the evolution of public opinion and increase the number of opinion clusters. By contrast, when it is encouraged, the interaction between individuals and the surrounding environment will make the entire system communicate more effectively within a short period of time, promoting the evolutionary benefits of public opinion considerably, shortening the convergence time of public opinion evolution to reach a steady state, and reducing the number of opinion clusters. The strategy is consistent with the phenomena in real life, proving the feasibility of the strategy. It can be shown that our proposed guidance strategy based on interaction constraints can influence the evolution of public opinion, while also offering a certain guiding significance for both the government and the media to guide public opinion.

Colleges and universities are the main battlefield for ideological construction in many countries and political parties. They are also at the forefront of the fusion and confrontation of multicultural and various online social trends. In the era of big data, a variety of ideological trends in the network society are surging, and non-Marxist ideological consciousness is growing. All of these have brought huge challenges to the ideological and political education of Chinese universities. The way of Chinese universities using ideological and political education to lead the ideological trend of the Internet society is of great importance in practice. Chinese universities should speed up the construction of a socialist ideological discourse system with Chinese characteristics. Besides, they should improve the quality of ideological and political education. What's more, they must innovate ideological education methods. At the same time, Chinese ideological and political educators should lead the college student group to resist all kinds of erroneous trends in the Internet society and support the ideological and political education work of college students in China. This series of measures is of great significance for promoting the theme.

Internet and the massive deployment of mobile and wireless communication systems and devices are generating new digital environments that are drastically changing the way in which social ideas and debates are produced, accessed and disseminated. Online social networks are becoming the virtual public spheres by which the social and political events of this network society are being debated. Given this new digital and technological context, many researchers are questioning the processes of dissemination of the information generated into these virtual social structures and the validity of the traditional models of media influence in these environments. In this paper, we present the results of an empirical analysis of the dissemination of information on Twitter produced by two large Ecuadorian newspapers: “El Universo” (private newspaper) and “El Telegrafo” (public newspaper) during events of police insubordination on 30th September 2010. The results show that, given the restrictions imposed that day by the Ecuadorian government on the news broadcast from the private media, Twitter became on a space of diffusion and access of citizens to alternative views. In addition, it was observed that the information emitted during the 30-S by these newspapers, presented a structure of diffusion in multiple stages and multiple directions.

With the advent of the network economy and the network society, the network will enter a ubiquitous and omnipresent situation. Economic, cultural, military and social life will strongly depend on the network, while network security issues have become a common concern of all countries in the world. DDOS attack is undoubtedly one of the greatest threats to network security and the defense against DDOS attack is very important. In this paper, the principle of DDOS attack is summarized from the defensive purpose. Then the attack prevention in software definition network is analyzed, and the source, intermediate network, victim and distributed defense strategies are elaborated.

In today’s digital world, social media have changed and evolved a lot to match the needs of their user since the beginning of they are be launched. The rapid expansion of the internet drive social media as a new collaborating tool to create modify, share many things to the community. This phenomenon has become ubiquitous for a major part of activities in our live. Hence, this era calls itself a network society. Yet, many organizations feel social media as barrier because they don’t understand what it is, the functionality of social media and how to build engagement with it and learn, but lately there has been a shifting of functionality on social media platform. Social medias are deploying new roles to gauge organization’s performance, advertise, and promote their sites. Considering the pros and cons of social media in many business sectors, in this paper we try to identify various social media’s activity and functionality which can be the exploration for future study that use social media as an interactive partnership channel media that facilitate the creation and collaboration via virtual communities. This research uses systematic literature review approach which screening paper published in 2010-2017. The result shows that the classification functionalities of social media that can support organization business process to be up to date with today’s shifting era.

The paper describes characteristics of digital and networked society and clarifies their needs for open and online learning (OOL). Empirical research in the form of online and face to face survey was implemented in order to clarify why and how digital and network society learns (if at all) while spending time online, and what are important characteristics of OOL that motivate digital and network society (NDS) for learning. These and other questions have been raised in the research that is presented in this paper.

We analyzed the a discrete-time e-SEIR system, which represents the computer virus propagation model in network society. Firstly, we derive two kinds of equilibriums for the model. Secondly, we obtain sufficient stability condition for the no-disease equilibrium using the first Lyapunov stability method. Lastly, we obtain stability conditions for the disease equilibrium using disc theory.

This paper studies names including the nickname and the real name, the personal identity symbols of the network society and real society, as clues for the impression evaluation in social cognition. It adopts the questionnaire method with quantitative analysis. From the perspective of the evaluator, examine the differences in impression evaluation based on the stereotype content model (SCM) under two social situations. From the perspective of the evaluatee, explore whether there is an impression management based on the stereotypes of the real name or self-social cognition in the online society. It is found that the external characteristics and internal mechanisms of the two evaluation situations are different: the impression evaluation via real names is more moderate, focusing on the competence dimension, and the evaluation via online nicknames is more bold and clear, focusing on the warmth dimension. In the online interpersonal communication, the impression management through nicknames is based on the self-cognition of the real society in the warmth dimension.

In the face of a connected society, where social exchanges take on a dimension through the internet, this research deals with the study on learning in the Massive Open On-line Course (MOOC), specifically on social exchanges, which represent the network interactions. The aim tries to identify the exchanges that emerge between the connections of the students through the written communication in the forums. In order to do so, we analyzed students' posts in the discussion spaces of the MOOC - Learning to Learn, from California University in San Diego. The methodology is configured as a qualitative research, which had as a scenario for data collection approximately 4,000 students enrolled. Social network analysis (ARS) and data mining were performed. The course lasted 4 weeks, followed for four consecutive months. This allowed us to discover the social role and the role assumed by the students. The result of this research allows to believe that the connected society the MOOC is more a proposal of sharing of content and consultation of study material. However, regarding the promotion of social exchanges there is evidence of the need and presence of pedagogical mediation. Education - still based on a traditional paradigm - needs to discover methodological possibilities arising from distance learning, online and hybrid. The challenge is to design spaces of learning that enable pedagogical mediation between subject and object of knowledge

Russia has declared the aim to close its national network from the global Internet. This could cause a situation where the rest of the ‘open network society’ is forced or wish to consider closing their national networks as well. A situation where national governments restrict substantially the information flows and connectivity of the network could cause serious effects to the critical infrastructure, economy, and alliances. This paper proposes a wargaming framework to analyze the effects of closing the national network on hostile actors operating critical infrastructure and who rely on the openness of that network for their operations. Our research provides information on what nations planning to close their network need to take into consideration while it offers a strategic insight for those actors who are confronted by a nation closing its network. This paper improves situation awareness and resilience in the cyber domain and supports global planning of cyber operations and defense.

The context of the network society, glokalization and the rapid development of digital technologies contribute to the emergence of mega-cities brands acting on the basis on the new digital communications reality. Digital city branding is realized by an interplay of the multitude of actors both institutional and non-institutional. As a result, territorial brands are created with the participation of digital stakeholders. Prominent scholars: F. Kotler, M. Kavaratzis, K. Deanie, A. Middleton and others note the urgent need to rethink the communicative strategies of the megalopolises and the role of digital stakeholders of territorial entities in the network society. Stakeholders should be seen as an active group of communicative actors who can motivate and involve in the process of building a city brand. The article analyzes the features, technologies and methods of interaction with stakeholders in the process of building a territorial brand in conditions of the digital society.

The aim of this paper is to understand how closed national networks can impact the future cyber domain from the military perspective. We argue that Russia is currently manipulating the cyber domain through identified four lines of effort that may result in advantage in a form of asymmetric frontlines in cyber battlefields. Accordingly, a ‘closed network nation’ is able to force ‘open network society’ into a reactive mode. As a result, we use scenario analysis for the estimation of open network society's strategic choices and their consequences in a case of escalation and potential confrontation with a ‘closed network nation’. This paper improves situational awareness in the cyber domain and supports global planning of cyber operations and defense.

Due to the IT and technological development of the 21st century, the development of network culture is more significant. The immaterial production and its transmission through network is increasingly becoming the organizing principle of the global economy and society. The members of the “network society” appearing as a result require the realization of educational application of the new generations' digital life space. The article focuses on presenting education implemented by the edu-coaching method based on a special interrogatory technique. Education implemented with the edu-coaching method supported with ICT devices suit the digital life of generation Z students. A new method, based on the interactive participation of students, with the implementation of augmented learning “adjusted to the life situation” in 3 dimensional virtual space is presented.

The significant changes that have occurred in the communications scenario, including the new environment of the network society, have prompted the development of both active audiences and important segments of citizens willing to participate in communications processes that are technologically mediated. Despite the importance of the transformation for all communication processes and for journalism, digital native media outlets have not quite made a significant progress in creating their own formats in order to manage and channel the citizens' inputs in journalistic pieces of information. Although such digital media outlets have opened avenues for collaboration, they still experience difficulties to make the most of the possibilities offered by this new scenario. This text presents an overview of the current situation in Spain and Portugal and analyses other potential alternatives.

The network society and the complexity of the changes that have affected digital economy is legally accompanied by the remains and traces of the past, including the addition of positive encountered numerous negative companions. This common, and now generally accepted phrase, encompasses the totality of criminal acts unauthorized affects the use, integrity and availability of technical, software or database computer system or the confidentiality of digital data. Increasingly, criminal groups are today using the Internet in the commission of crimes and offenses that are considered “traditional”. The most dangerous, among them, are new forms of organized crime. The starting point of the paper presents the concept of the role of Internet as infrastructure for new forms of organized crimes with an emphasis on regulative and legal framework for prevention of new internet crimes as well as global sharing of information threw databases in order to fight against criminality of new era. The author is also giving an overview of legal practice of sanctioning of new forms of organized crime in criminal law of Republic of Croatia threw legal regulation and conventions, what actually presents the main request for the efficiency of government repression as the body and at the same time and their placement in the legal framework which is acceptable from the standpoint of the rights of citizens, particularly as well as from the standpoint of current criminal procedure law in today's information society.

Worldwide computers are being used in schools for, amongst other things, developing the knowledge and skills required for citizens to be able to operate within the 21st Century Information Age. Realising the potential of technology in uplifting the lives of its citizens the South African government has proposed the National Broadband Plan (SA Connect). However, unfortunately this plan only addresses the networking aspect of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs). In this paper we investigate appropriate Information Technologies for schools in the light of SA Connect, and propose a model for the computing infrastructure required in South African schools in order to support access to and adoption of technology and networks. This model is based on our multi-year experimentation in the Siyakhula Living Lab.

The author's current research is on the influence of social networks, the Internet, and virtual reality on the development of personalities, and interpersonal communications in the modern network society.

This year the minitrack explores a wide range of challenges associated with the creation and implementation of public policies and laws to support, facilitate, and promote e-government. The minitrack also addresses the problems of how egovernment policies impact and influence governance systems and public procurement changing legitimacy and power relations. The minitrack includes one session with three papers which address these issues from different angles.

ICT is the most influential determinant of changes in the network society. Newly adopted technologies and processes based on the Internet, clouds and virtual networks allow high mobility to users and can contribute to the highest efficiency of processes. E-government as public service is developed in most countries and different aspects are summarized. Effectiveness of e-government is conditioned by its design, ICT model, implementation quality, and user's satisfaction. Advantages to the citizens must meet expectations about complexity, quality, security, accessibility, and friendliness of services. Education of citizens, development of channels for feedback, and education IT experts understanding to public services are components, necessary for higher effectiveness of e-government.

With the development of network technology, a huge fictional network society has formed. It has changed consumers' buying habits deeply. Most people begin to use and gradually reliance on online shopping. This paper has constructed Fujian province fresh supermarket logistics delivery information system, to explore the online supermarket business model. It is not only conducive to improve our traditional supermarket competitiveness, but also extend electronic commerce industry chain.
