Abstract

ICT (Information and Communication Technology) is the main driving force for the people's economic growth. All areas of human life have been seized with advances in ICT, including agricultural which is the basis of food for Indonesian society. ICT can improve productivity. This can also be influenced by the age characteristics of the farmers in each region. This research was to prove the effects of ICT access to agricultural farmers in Manado. By using the theory of network society (Network Society Theory) using a survey method with respondents coming from three farmer groups data to 109 farmers in Manado. According to the survey results, it is evident that the majority of farmers in Manado region still rely heavily on television and YouTube. Manado farmers aged around 30 to 50 years, it is assumed that using ICTs to communicate and access information productively among farmers can increase their productivity, especially in the era of new media like today. Results showed that media usage had a strong and positive correlation factor that influence farmers in accessing agricultural information come from internal and external. Adopting ICTs in agricultural extension was crucial in facilitating farmers to access new markets for their produce and acquire information on the current trend in agriculture.
