Due to the flexibility and efficiency of video-plus-depth 3D video representation format, Depth-Image-Based Rendering (DIBR) has been proposed to create content for 3D-TV. Most previous researches have focused on eliminating areas of disocclusion in synthesized images by smoothing depth-images, which is time-consuming and usually leads to the attenuation of depth-resolution and some artifacts. In this paper, we aim to investigate factors degrading visual quality and attenuating depth-resolution. Based on the investigation, a low-cost and depth-resolution-preserved Parallax-Map-Based DIBR method is then presented. Our method efficiently prevents attenuation of depth resolution and geometric distortions in synthesized images with lower computation resources compared to previous studies, as shown in the experimental results. With the popularization of digital TV and Internet Protocol TV (IPTV), more digital programs are being produced. In order to find the programs users want to watch, it is sometimes difficult and time-consuming for them to read the programs' information provided by Electronic Program Guide (EPG). Therefore, the next generation EPG composed of content search, content recommendation, and content management is expected to help users quickly, and easily find programs they are interested in. In content recommendation, this study proposes a Community-based Program Recommendation (CPR) for the next generation EPG. It analyzes and categorizes users with similar viewing habits into one community, then recommends programs to users to help them quickly find the programs they want to watch. With the rapid development of home network technology, sharing multimedia content among AV devices has become easier, however, the operation of these AV devices have become more complicated. These devices display status and related information through On-Screen Display (OSD) or Liquid Crystal display Module (LCM) display, but the displays have some issues with OSD interference to reception or require users to understand all the symbols on the LCM Display. This paper proposes a universal remote control based on AV device virtualization, called V-URC (Virtualization based Universal Remote control), in order to control AV devices V-URC dynamically generates user interfaces, which conform to the current state of devices; this not only simplifies the operation of A V devices, but also eliminates the issues caused by LCM display and OSD-based AV devices In addition, for new A V devices, V-URC can be used directly without the need to go through complicated learning programs or update of firmware. To resolve the issue that a vast majority of time is spent on design and maintenance of new customized user interface in the development of digital TV system software, we propose TVSkin user interface, an architecture to be applied to the design of user interface software. With TVSkin user interface, there is no need to modify any of the programming codes, in order to make additions or changes to the user interface of a digital TV system. Therefore, the whole cycle of the product development can be shortened. This will make the design of a customized digital TV user interface and the replacement of its mechanism as easy as in the case of a popular skin-able user interface of a desktop application. Stepped-impedance resonators with diodes loaded at one end are used to develop switchable bandpass filters in this paper. The loaded diodes are used to switch the resonance conditions of the stepped-impedance resonators. The equations for resonance conditions of the stepped-impedance resonators with different loads at one end are derived and discussed. With these derived equations, the switchable filters can be easily designed and synthesized using the coupled-resonator filter theory. When the switchable filter is switched on, a bandpass filter response with a wide stopband rejection is achieved by making the on-state coupled resonators have the same fundamental resonant frequency, but different higher order resonant frequencies. When switched off, a high and wideband isolation is obtained by properly misaligning the resonant modes of the off-state resonators. The design concept is demonstrated by two single-pole-single-throw fourth-order Butterworth-type switchable microstrip bandpass filters, which utilize two and three switched stepped-impedance resonators, respectively. Finally, a compact single-pole-double-throw switchable microstrip bandpass filter using common resonators is demonstrated for wireless communication applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

High-level synthesis (HLS) of memory-intensive applications has featured several innovations in terms of enhancements made to the basic memory organization and data layout. However, increasing performance and energy demands faced by application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) are forcing designers to alter the fundamental architectural template of the HLS output, namely, a controller datapath associated with a memory subsystem (monolithic, partitioned, etc.). An architectural template for the HLS output that consists of a controller-datapath circuit associated with a memory subsystem into which computation units have been integrated is proposed. The enhanced memory subsystem is called computation-unit integrated memory (CIM). A CIM offers higher memory bandwidth (relative to what is offered through the system bus) to computation units present locally within it and reduces the overall communication between the memory subsystem and the controller datapath, thus providing a template highly suitable for deriving efficient implementations of memory-intensive applications. This paper addresses the challenge of providing a systematic synthesis framework for a CIM-based architecture. This framework can analyze the various tradeoffs involved in selecting suitable operations in a behavior for execution using a CIM and generate a high-performance low-overhead implementation. Efficient data reuse of register files have also been fully exploited to further improve system performance. Experiments with several behaviors indicate that an average performance improvement of 2.02× (a maximum of 2.70×) is possible with very low area overheads. Novel microstrip coupled-line bandpass filters with extended rejection band are proposed using the transmission zeros inherently associated with the shortened coupled sections to suppress the odd spurious harmonics at (2n + 1)ƒo (n = 1, 2,…), where ƒo is the passband center frequency. The proposed filters feature compact size and low insertion loss, and have two cross-coupled-induced transmission zeros near the passband edges for improving the filter selectivity. To demonstrate this novel technique of shortening coupled sections, the second-order filter with the stopband extended up to 4.6ƒo is implemented and carefully examined. With the increasing cost of on-chip global Communication, high-performance designs for data-intensive applications require architectures that distribute hardware resources (computing logic, memories, interconnect, etc.) throughout the chip, while restricting computations and communications to geographic proximities. In this paper, we present a methodology for high-level synthesis (HLS) of distributed logic-memory architectures, i.e., architectures that have logic and memory distributed across several partitions in a chip. Conventional HLS tools are capable of extracting parallelism from a behavior for architectures that assume a monolithic controller/datapath communicating with a memory or memory hierarchy. This paper provides techniques to extend the synthesis frontier to more general architectures that can extract both coarse-and fine-grained parallelism from data accesses and computations in a synergistic manner. Our methodology selects many possible ways of organizing data and computations, carefully examines the tradeoffs (i.e., communication overheads, synchronization costs, area overheads) in choosing one solution over another, and utilizes conventional HLS techniques for intermediate steps. Electronic package edge metal profiles have an effect on package characteristics on an order increasingly close to the tolerances expected for the package electrical performance. Several two-dimensional (2-D) tools are available that can be used to evaluate predesign and layout issues with nonrectangular edge profiles. However, tools that extract models from actual designs using the most up-to-date computer-aided design/computer-aided engineering (CAD/CAE) design and modeling flows do not yet take into account these real-world metal geometries. Variations in impedance and crosstalk associated with real profiles versus rectangular idealizations are identified for some typical cases and a computational procedure is discussed which may efficiently address this problem. Novel compact parallel-coupled microstrip bandpass filters are proposed by using additional lumped inductors to realize K-inverters between coupled-line sections to achieve an equivalent to the quarter-wavelength (λ /4) resonator filters. As a result, the filter order can be doubled without increasing the circuit area, and no repeated passband is observed at twice the center frequency. In addition, by introducing the cross-coupling effect, two transmission zeros at upper and lower stopbands may be created. Simple equivalent-circuit models are also established as effective design tools. Given that long strip satellite images have the same error distribution characteristics, we propose a block adjustment method for satellite images based on the strip constraint. First, the image point coordinates are calculated in the strip image coordinate system based on the offset value of the adjacent image. Second, the rational function model (RFM) of the strip image is regenerated using the RFM of single images, and the compensation grid is also generated. Third, block adjustment of the strip image is implemented based on the RFM with an affine transformation parameter. Finally, the affine transformation parameters of single images are recalculated using the affine transformation parameters of the strip image. Experiments using ZY-3 satellite images showed that block adjustment of satellite images based on a strip constraint (strip adjustment) can produce better results than block adjustment of satellite images based on a single image in sparse control conditions. Ziyuan1-02C (ZY1-02C) was launched on December 22, 2011, and it is the first civilian high-resolution remote sensing satellite in China. However, the limited precision of the onboard attitude measurement system causes many errors during attitude transfer by ZY1-02C. Thus, there are complex distortions in the images obtained by ZY1-02C, which restricts its application greatly. In this paper, we consider the feasibility of attitude error correction based on parallel observations with high-resolution cameras, and the method is described in detail. To validate the efficiency of the proposed method, several images and corresponding control data were collected from the Henan, Taihang Mountain, Neimeng, and Taiyuan areas in China. The experimental results indicate that seamless mosaic images without distortion can be obtained using our method. Furthermore, the positioning accuracy with a few ground control points (GCPs) was shown to be better than 1.5 pixels and equivalent to the accuracy of the GCPs. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

The ZiYuan-3 (ZY-3) remote sensing satellite is China's first civilian high-resolution stereo mapping satellite. Because the interior orientation parameters measured before launch are biased, the multispectral (four-band) images collected by ZY-3 exhibit low-accuracy band-to-band registration, which affects their subsequent applications. This paper presents a valid method for interior orientation determination of the ZY-3 multispectral sensor by determining the look angles of the charge-coupled device arrays for all bands. One band is chosen as the benchmark band, and its interior orientation is determined using the relevant ZY-3 image collected over the calibration field and the corresponding digital orthoimage map and digital elevation model. The remaining bands are then calibrated using the benchmark band as control data. The quality of the calibration is further enhanced by shortening the calibration period and by combining images collected over different calibration fields, which decreases the negative effects of errors in the satellite's attitude and position data. The interior orientation of the multispectral sensor in ZY-3 was determined using data sets taken over two calibration fields, namely, Dengfeng (Henan Province) and Tianjin. Evaluation experiments were performed using ZY-3 multispectral images and ground control points (GCPs) collected over several different periods and areas. The positioning accuracy of the ZY-3 multispectral images with a limited number of GCPs after calibration of the interior orientation was better than 0.3 pixels, and the band-to-band registration accuracy was up to 0.15 pixels.
