Aim: To explore connections between spiritual metaparadigm and the nursing metaparadigm and advocate for a progressive spiritualization of nursing management. Background: Relationship between the spiritual holistic metaparadigm of love, communion and gift and the holonic nursing metaparadigm of care, relationship and practice is not completely understood. Method: The construction of a theoretical explanation on the basis of accumulated knowledge in the fields of nursing and spirituality (especially Christian spirituality) for the purpose of constructing a meaningful description. Results: Deep connectivity between the elements of both metaparadigms: love and care, communion and relationship, and gift and practice. Conclusion: The connection between the spiritual and nursing metaparadigms is real in nursing education, practice and management because of the holistic character of spirituality. In collective intentions and cultural values are the main channels of interaction between the nursing and the spiritual metaparadigms. Implications for nursing management: Spirituality influences nursing management by, among other things, (a) providing meaning and purpose; (b) promoting cohesion in health communities; (c) fostering respect for ethics; (d) stimulating innovation; (e) encouraging leadership; and (f) illuminating the workplace. Contemporary healthcare for those experiencing mental illness requires healthcare practitioners (HCPs) to effectively incorporate the prescription of exercise in their treatment, in accordance with clinical guidelines. However, there has been a lack of effective implementation of such recommendations. The purpose of this review was to identify barriers to exercise prescription in the treatment of people diagnosed with mental illness as perceived by HCPs. APA PsycINFO, CINAHL, MEDLINE, and PubMed electronic databases were searched for relevant articles published in the period from January 2005 to September 2023. A total of 18 papers were included for thematic synthesis. Four key themes were identified across the qualitative (8), quantitative (6), and mixed method (4) papers, including a lack of knowledge and confidence of HCPs in prescribing exercise; role and responsibility; HCPs' misconceptions of client barriers; and systemic issues impacting exercise prescription practices. A lack of knowledge or confidence was the most common barrier. Some HCPs indicated a desire to develop their skills in exercise prescription, while others indicated a preference for an exercise professional to take responsibility for this aspect of treatment. Systemic barriers were spread across a range of issues, with lack of time, excessive workload, and difficulties accessing qualified staff most commonly cited. This review provides further insight into the barriers to exercise prescription faced by HCPs and makes recommendations regarding how to address these barriers in order to better implement clinical guidelines and thus improve the quality of treatment provided to people diagnosed with a mental illness. Aim. To review the current literature on the developing role of nursing innovation, specifically, those nurses who have progressed their innovative practice into product development. Design. A scoping review was conducted utilising the Population, Concept, Context framework and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews. Data Sources. An initial search was performed in February 2023 with a repeat search and revision to the review completed in September 2023. Electronic searches of the British Nursing Index, Current Index of Nursing Allied Health Literature, Emerald Insight, National Health Service Knowledge and Library Hub, and Google Scholar™ were undertaken using the terms Nursing AND (new product development) AND (device innovation). Two authors (LS and MS) also undertook hand searching of relevant reference lists. Review Methods. Two authors were involved in the screening process of available and relevant literature (LS and MS) with the third author (FH) available for decision-making in the event of any generated disagreements. Results. We undertook a review of seventeen papers from 274 results. The impetus of nursing innovation, defining the nurse inventor, facilitators to the nurse inventor concept, and barriers to the nurse inventor concept were all identified as themes to be explored. Conclusion. The nurse inventor concept requires further challenge and clarity. Nurses should aim for a consensus of definition, typology, scope of practice, and job planning. Healthcare institutions should acknowledge and explore this novel role in detail, with consideration afforded to how the role is to be specified and integrated into today's nursing practice roles. Background. In addition to the usual difficulty of managing human capital in any organization, healthcare institutions have other problems to solve arising from the circumstances and the very nature of the work they perform, such as the ethical pressure on staff, emotional exhaustion, the distribution of work shifts, or the general shortage for nurses. In many cases, this situation has an impact on the quality of care. Objective. The main objective of this research is to compile, in a single document, human resource practices that help health centre managers improve results in terms of performance and quality of care, as well as avoid the intention of abandoning the job, specifically related to the work of nurses. Methods. To this end, a systematic literature review has been performed based on 229 papers published in the Web of Science database, from which the practical implications for nurses proposed by these authors have been extracted. Results. The main results suggest that developing affective commitment helps to improve organizational performance and enhance patient safety culture. Furthermore, improving communication and meaningfulness of work, recognition by superiors, or job flexibility would improve the quality of outcomes, for the work of nurses. Conclusions and Implications for Nursing. Stimulating normative commitment, reducing excessive control, and paying attention to job burnout and job stress help combat the intention of voluntary turnover or leaving the job, especially in the case of nurses. Aim: We aim to explore healthful leadership practices in nursing and midwifery evident within the COVID‐19 pandemic in the United Kingdom, the contextual facilitators, barriers and outcomes. Background: Globally, the health and care sectors are under pressure and despite nurses and other professionals, demonstrating resilience and resourcefulness in the COVID‐19 pandemic; this has negatively impacted on their health and wellbeing and on patient care. Evaluation: Two searches were conducted in July 2021 and December 2021. Inclusion/exclusion criteria were identified to refine the search, including papers written since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. A total of 38 papers were included principally from the United States and United Kingdom. Ten were research papers; the others were commentaries, opinion pieces and editorials. MS Teams literature repository was created. A unique critical appraisal tool was devised to capture contexts, mechanisms and outcomes whilst reflecting more standardized tools, that is, the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme and the Authority, Accuracy, Coverage, Objectivity and Date tool for reviewing grey literature to refine the search further. Key issues: Six tentative theories of healthful leadership emerged from the literature around leadership strategies, which are relational, being visible and present; being open and engaging; caring for self and others; embodying values; being prepared and preparing others; and using available information and support. Contextual factors that enable healthful leadership practices are in the main, created by leaders' values, attributes and style. The literature suggests that leaders who embody values of compassion, empathy, courage and authenticity create conditions for positive and healthful relations between leaders and others. Nurse and midwives' voices are however absent from the literature in this review. Conclusion: Current available literature would suggest healthful leadership practices are not prioritized by nurse leaders. Perspectives of nurses' and midwives' about the impact of such practices on their wellbeing is also missing. Tentative theories are offered as a means of identifying healthful leadership strategies, the context that enable these and potential outcomes for nurses and midwives. These will be explored in phase two of this study. Implications for Nursing Management: Nurse leaders must be adequately prepared to create working environments that support nurses' and midwives' wellbeing, so that they may be able to provide high‐quality care. Ensuring a supportive organizational culture, which embodies the values of healthfulness, may help to mitigate the impact of the COVID‐19 pandemic on nurses' and midwives' wellbeing in the immediate aftermath and going forward. Racism is a key modifiable determinant of health that contributes to health inequities in Aotearoa and elsewhere. Experiences of racism occur within the health sector for workers, patients and their whānau (extended family) every day. This paper uses stories of racism from nurses – reworked into vignettes – to examine the dynamics of racism to generate possible micro, meso and macro anti‐racism interventions. A critical qualitative design was utilised, informed by kaupapa Māori approaches. The five vignettes in this paper were sourced from a pair of caucused focus groups with nine senior Māori (Indigenous peoples of Aotearoa) and Tauiwi (non‐Māori) nurses held in Auckland Aotearoa in 2019. The vignettes were lightly edited and then critically analysed by both authors to identify sites of racism and generate ideas for anti‐racism interventions. The vignettes illustrate five key themes in relation to racism. These include (i) mono‐cultural practice, (ii) everyday micro‐aggressions; (iii) complexity and the costs of racism, (iv) Pākehā (white settler) privilege and (v) employment discrimination. From analysing these themes, a range of evidence‐based micro, meso and macro‐level anti‐racism interventions were derived. These ranged from engaging in reflective practice, education initiatives, monitoring, through to collective advocacy. Vignettes are a novel way to reveal sites of racism to create teachable moments and spark reflective practice and more active engagement in anti‐racism interventions. When systematically analysed vignettes can be utilised to inform and refine anti‐racist interventions. Being able to identify racism is essential to being able to effectively counter racism. Aim: This paper highlights integrity as a central tenet in the journey of ethical leadership among nurse leaders and dialogue as a way of working within integrity. Background: Nurse leaders play a critical role in ensuring ethically sound, safe patient care by supporting staff and fostering positive working environments. Although there is an abundance of literature on leadership, no universally accepted leadership theory exists. Hence, it can be difficult to apply leadership theory and principals to real‐life clinical practice. Evaluation: From the literature, it is evident that integrity is a crucial aspect of leadership. This paper proposes suggestions for nurturing integrity and fostering open and honest dialogue. Key issues: Globally, public health care is complex and evolving and effective nursing leadership is paramount to meet public health needs and support health care systems. Conclusion: This paper explores integrity with leadership, re‐envisaging personal and professional integrity as a portal to authentic leadership, which has human relationships and dialogue at its core. Implications for Nursing Management: Nurse leaders need support in guiding the nursing profession and promoting ethically sound patient care. Aim: Through a review of philosophical and theoretical constructs, this paper offers insight and guidance as to ways in which nurse leaders may operationalize advocacy and an adherence to nursing's core ethical values. Background: The US health care system works in opposition to core nursing values. Nurse leaders are obliged to advocate for the preservation of ethical care delivery. Evaluation: This paper draws upon the philosophies of Fromm, Foucault, and Deleuze and Guattari to critically review the functions of nurse leaders within a capitalist paradigm. Key issue: Key emergent issues in the paper include health care and capitalism and the nurse leader's obligations towards advocacy. Conclusion: The nurse leader acts as parrhèsia in viewing truth telling as a duty critical to improving the lives of patients. Ramifications of the decisions by those in power have even greater impact in institutions that serve those with little to no political agency. Implications for Nursing Management: The nurse leader has a freedom and platform that their patients do not and must take the courageous risk of choosing to speak. Humanistic quality refers to the research ability, knowledge level of the humanities, and the human inner quality of the humanities. The purpose of this paper was to make a research on the cultivation of humanistic literacy of nursing undergraduates in the context of the Internet era. This paper first makes a general introduction of the classification of the Internet and the definition of humanistic literacy, analyzes the results of two rounds of expert consultation method, and then obtains the current situation of nursing undergraduates through the questionnaire survey of school nursing undergraduates. The experimental results showed that in the current survey situation, the expert support rate of humanistic care is as high as 90%, indicating that humanistic care is especially important for a nursing undergraduate. The total score of humanistic nursing ability of undergraduate nursing students was 127.03, which is in the middle level higher than that of most domestic studies, but lower than that of American nursing students. Introduction: Although there is growing evidence the Clinical Nurse Specialist role makes a difference to patient care, the full value of this service may not be always appreciated with current models not meeting the needs of those with cancer. The primary aim of this integrative literature review was to evaluate outcomes associated with the role of the Clinical Nurse Specialist in cancer care. The secondary aim was to identify the components of the Clinical Nurse Specialist role in cancer care from the included papers in the literature review. Methods: An integrative literature review using a systematic approach was adopted. Literature searches were undertaken in four databases and supplemented with a search in the grey literature and reference lists of included papers. Searches were limited to January 2009‐July 2019 and those written in the English language. Three reviewers independently completed the searches and reviewed the papers before reaching a consensus. Results: Fourteen eligible research papers were identified. Evaluations were predominately positive with the role contributing to improving patient outcomes with regards psychological support, information provision, symptom management, service coordination and patient satisfaction. Conclusion: The findings of this literature review firmly establish the Clinical Nurse Specialist as a valuable member of the multidisciplinary team in enhancing cancer care services. Aims: Nurse managers play key roles in creating and enforcing organisational hair policies and practices. This challenging paper will provoke discussion, debate and hopefully the dismantling of racist hair policies that disproportionately target black students and nurses. Background: Black people have suffered from centuries of hair racism that continues today. Unfortunately, many nurse leaders underestimate the significance of this issue, while perpetuating the injustice. Evaluation: This paper is based on research literature, media reports and authors' lived experiences regarding hair racism experienced by black people and nurses in particular. Key Issues: Nurse managers often create and police organisational hair policies and dress codes. As health services pledge to eradicate racism 'in principle', ending discriminatory hair policies offers nurse managers a practical way to make this principle a reality. Conclusions: Hair racism is real and damaging for many black nurses and has no place in a modern health service. Rather than designing and policing such structural racism, nurse managers can be instrumental in ending it. Implications for Nursing Management: Health service hair policies targeting black nurses especially are not 'neutral'. Nurse managers can challenge this institutional discrimination, demonstrating health services' commitment to ending racism in all of its guises. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim. We aimed to undertake a systematic review focusing on organisational strategies that specifically advance women nurses in healthcare leadership. Background. Despite nursing being the largest health workforce and being dominated by women, they face significant barriers in career progression and have limited leadership opportunities, with a need to move from a focus on individuals to organisational level change. Methods. Methods for our overarching systematic review are published and follow the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) checklist. Databases searched include MEDLINE via OVID; MEDLINE in-process and other nonindexed citations via OVID; PsycINFO; and Scopus. Any study describing a strategy that was not implemented for nurses and all non-peer-reviewed studies were excluded. Included studies were appraised using CASP checklists. A thematic analysis approach was employed to facilitate the systematic generation of themes. Results. Findings were reported under two main themes: leadership barriers and enablers and organisational strategies for advancing women nurses to leadership. The latter included: mentorship, leadership training, career planning and coaching, opportunities for networking, sponsorship, and targeted recruitment processes for increasing gender diversity in leadership roles. Conclusion. This review synthesises organisational-level strategies that advance women nurses in healthcare leadership. Barriers and individual-level strategies for advancing women nurses in healthcare leadership have been extensively studied in the current literature. Systems and organisational strategies are less studied yet show that they can advance women in nursing into healthcare leadership. Implications for Nursing Management. This paper suggests that optimising women nurses' leadership attainment needs to shift focus from individual strategies to systemic level and organisational strategies and use tailored evidenced-based approaches. Purpose. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the concept of scope of practice for occupational health nurses. Background. Occupational health nurses (OHNs) practice in different industries alone or with other nurses, providing care to employees. The demand on occupational health nurses to respond to increasing organizational healthcare needs of employees and other healthcare demands raises the question, do occupational health nurses understand their scope of practice? Occupational health nurses inadvertently practicing outside their scope may jeopardize their nursing licenses, and the safety and quality of care of employees. Method. A literature review was conducted to identify defining attributes, antecedents, and consequences for the concept of scope of practice for OHNs. Walker and Avant's eight-step framework for concept analysis was applied. Results. The defining attributes of the scope of practice for OHN include but are not limited to standards and guidelines: competency, public safety; practicing certificates; using sound judgement; regulatory restrictions, limitations of practice in occupational health settings, and type of educational qualifications. The antecedents include education, training, competency, regulation, and experience. The consequences include improved quality care when education, training, and competencies are met within the practice guidelines. Possible disciplinary actions against the nurse and employer violation of workplace safety standards may occur. Conclusion. OHNs must understand and practice within their scope of practice even when placed in situations by their employers that could defy the limits of their practice. In order to explore the effectiveness of the 5Why-based nursing intervention method in blood purification nursing, this paper takes 108 patients from Changzhou Second Hospital in the past three years as an example for experimental analysis. Moreover, this paper uses mathematical statistics to group patients into groups, and the two groups of patients are comparable. After grouping, this paper conducts preexperiment processing and then conducts patient grooming through various basic tasks so that the test results have a certain degree of reliability. On this basis, this paper verifies the nursing intervention methods through controlled trials. Among them, the control group is treated with the hospital's conventional nursing methods and allowed patients to master self-nursing methods, while the test group is treated with 5Why-based nursing intervention on the basis of traditional nursing methods. Finally, this paper combines mathematical statistics to evaluate the effect of blood purification nursing. Numerous important papers written by nurses and other scientists to improve nursing practice are not read by many nurses because two of the common ways authors use to describe what nurses do obscures the applicability of studies to nurses in general. Interventions (aka, procedures, skills, tasks) used and populations studied, including diseases, are less robust indicators of research results than are tests of nursing theory. Further, some of these important papers are not stored in or retrieved by accessing the Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature database. We believe many research papers by nurses and those who study nursing would benefit from an explicit rather than implicit test of nursing theory and we advise authors use Henderson's theoretical textbook because of its link to research and expert opinion professional literature. Significant papers should be reversely cited in her textbook to place them in the context of the knowledge of nursing she recorded for much of the 20th century. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: The aim of this study is to explore the influence of a talent management scheme in an English National Health Service (NHS) Trust on registered nurses' retention intentions. Background: The retention of nurses is a global challenge, and talent management initiatives can play a role in improving retention. Talent management in its broadest sense is a way in which an organization recruits and retains the workforce that it needs to optimize the services it delivers. Methods: In this qualitative study, eight in‐depth semi‐structured interviews were conducted with registered nurses who had participated in a talent management initiative, at an English acute NHS Trust. Data were collected in July 2019. Results: The talent management initiative influenced positive retention intentions. Retention of nurses was facilitated by the creation of networks and networking. Conclusion: Networks and networking can be viewed as a form of social capital, which was a facilitating factor for positive retention intentions for nurses. Implications for Nursing Management: Talent management initiatives for nurses should be developed and directed to include the building of networks and networking to enable development of social capital. Although this talent management scheme is within the NHS, the issue of nursing retention is global. Application of learning from this paper to other health care systems is possible. Aims: This article reports the results of a scoping review to identify initiatives for improving recruitment and retention of nurses in health care and ascertain their effectiveness. Background: The global shortage of nurses has results in greater competition for vacant posts and an increased need to retain existing post holders. While there are a large number of publications discussing ways to improve recruitment and retention, the effectiveness of these needs to be established. Evaluation: Thirteen papers met the inclusion criteria. There was no literature identified focusing on recruitment and only one paper reported a formal evaluation of a retention initiative. Key issues: Five themes summarized the initiatives for retaining nurses: leadership and support, ongoing professional development, recognition, work environment and flexible scheduling. Conclusion: While strategies have been proposed to retain nurses, there is a dearth of evidence supporting the effectiveness of these. Implications for Nursing Management: Although there is a lack of evaluations of retention strategies, the review identified a number of initiatives that warrant consideration. With the launch of the National Health Service People Plan in England in 2021, which is recommending initiatives identified in this review without robust evidence, an integrated programme of research evaluating this is recommended. Aim(s): This study aims to present the theory of resigning in supporting nurse managers in dealing with nurses' ethical challenge of caring. Background: In a COVID‐19 era, nurses continue to be ethically challenged in maintaining safe patient care. Nurse managers play a critical role supporting staff in responding to the complexities of working in, under resourced environments. Evaluation: Literature suggests care delivery is compromised in times of staff shortages, lack of resources and increased demands on nurses. Examining caring behaviours through the theoretical lens of the theory of resigning enables nurse managers to understand nurses' behaviours, cultivating supportive working environments. Key issue(s): Nurses strive to provide quality, safe care but are sometimes unable to give the level or type of care they wish, due to the presence of constraints. Conclusion(s): This paper provides suggestions for nurse managers in dealing with nurses' daily moral distress arising from working within constraints while still trying to provide safe care. Implications for Nursing Management: Nurse managers need to develop greater insights into the ethical dilemmas nurses experience and support them to temporarily realign beliefs and values, while continuing to work within constraints. Nurses are among the largest providers of home care services thus optimisation of this workforce can positively influence client outcomes. This scoping review maps existing Canadian literature on factors influencing the optimisation of home care nurses (HCNs). Arskey and O'Malley's five stages for scoping literature reviews were followed. Populations of interest included Registered Nurses, Registered/Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nursing Assistants, Advanced Practice Nurses, Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists. Interventions included any nurse(s), organisational and system interventions focused on optimising home care nursing. Papers were included if published between January 1, 2002 up to May 15, 2015. The review included 127 papers, including 94 studies, 16 descriptive papers, 6 position papers, 4 discussion papers, 3 policy papers, 2 literature reviews and 2 other. Optimisation factors were categorised under seven domains: Continuity of Care/Care; Staffing Mix and Staffing Levels; Professional Development; Quality Practice Environments; Intra‐professional and Inter‐professional and Inter‐sectoral Collaboration; Enhancing Scope of Practice: and, Appropriate Use of Technology. Fragmentation and underfunding of the home care sector and resultant service cuts negatively impact optimisation. Given the fiscal climate, optimising the existing workforce is essential to support effective and efficient care delivery models. Many factors are inter‐related and have synergistic impacts (e.g., recruitment and retention, compensation and benefits, professional development supports, staffing mix and levels, workload management and the use of technology). Quality practice environments facilitate optimal practice by maximixing human resources and supporting workforce stability. Role clarity and leadership supports foster more effective interprofessional team functioning that leverages expertise and enhances patient outcomes. Results inform employers, policy makers and relevant associations regarding barriers and enablers that influence the optimisation of home care nursing in nursing, intra‐ and inter‐professional and inter‐organisational contexts. Data mining belongs to knowledge discovery, which is the process of revealing hidden, unknown, and valuable information from a large amount of fuzzy application data. The potential information revealed by data mining can help decision-makers adjust market strategies and reduce market risks. The information mined can be the discovery of a particular study and little known, which must be based on the principle of truth. Nursing safety means that during nursing work, the nursing staff must strictly follow the nursing system and operating procedures, accurately execute doctor's orders, implement nursing plans, and ensure that patients get physical and mental safety during treatment and recovery. This paper aims to explore the construction of nursing safety quality management system and its effect analysis based on data mining. It is hoped that improvements in hospital nursing processes will provide better nursing services for patients using data mining techniques. This paper uses the FP algorithm to mine the data set and generates frequent itemsets, proposes and implements the association rule mining algorithm, and obtains the association rules with practical reference value. This article analyzes the current status and existing problems of nursing management, and puts forward some problems existing in the current nursing management staff's own quality, nursing quality system standards, and nursing management system. The experimental results in this article show that there are 42 cases of poor nursing due to lack of basic medical knowledge, accounting for 52%; there are 12 cases of poor nursing due to their own diseases, accounting for 15%; there were 7 cases of poor nursing due to lack of communication, accounting for 9%; there were 15 cases of poor nursing caused by unreasonable use of restraint devices, accounting for 19%. From these data, it can be seen that patients need to have basic medical knowledge and act in strict accordance with doctors' orders. Information is becoming increasingly important in social development, and the medical industry's informatization has made significant progress. This paper evaluates the role of nursing informatization in improving nursing quality management by analyzing and comparing changes in nursing quality before and after the implementation of nursing informatization. Using modern computer network technology to evaluate nursing quality, monitor the implementation of nursing management plans, and control nursing quality links in real time has helped to promote and improve nursing quality. The integration mode of the existing hospital information system is sorted out and standardized according to the requirements of refined hospital management. We can optimize the overall architecture of the hospital information system, reduce the tight coupling between business systems, support rapid integration and flexible expansion of business systems, and lay a foundation for the cooperation and data sharing of medical resources in and out of the hospital by establishing a hospital information platform based on standardized specifications. Aim. This paper aimed to examine the current state of nurse safety behavior, and the effect of work engagement on it, and to explore the mediating effect of self-efficacy between work engagement and nurse safety behavior in specialized cancer hospitals. Background. Nurse safety behavior affects the quality of care and outcomes for patients with cancer. The research proves that self-efficacy is associated with work engagement, but the relationship between self-efficacy, work engagement, and nurse safety behavior needs to be clarified. Methods. This study used a convenience sampling method to survey 957 nurses from January to February 2023. The survey included tertiary specialized cancer hospitals in five provinces in China. Sociodemography information, the Work Engagement Scale, the Self-Efficacy Scale, and the Nurse Safety Behavior Scale were used for the survey. A Questionnaire Star program collected all the data automatically. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 24 was employed for Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis to examine the association between work engagement, self-efficacy, and nurse safety behavior. Structural equation models were built using Analysis of Moment Structures version 24.0 software. Results. The results showed that the nurse safety behavior was at a high level in specialized cancer hospitals. There was a significant positive relationship between the variables work engagement, self-efficacy, and nurse safety behavior with coefficients ranging from 0.244 to 0.564. The results of structural equation modeling revealed that self-efficacy partially mediated the effect between work engagement and nurse safety behavior, accounting for 25.3% of the total effect. Conclusion. Self-efficacy mediates the relationship between work engagement and nurse safety behavior, and by increasing self-efficacy, nurse safety behavior can be improved, thus ensuring patient safety. Recurrent respiratory tract infections in children are common. It means that children are repeatedly exposed to external pathogens within a certain time, and the clinical symptoms are reciprocating. This article carries out nursing intervention on children's respiratory tract infection through comprehensive nursing methods and analyzes the intervention effect. Moreover, this paper uses a controlled trial to study the nursing methods of recurrent respiratory tract infections in children. In addition, this paper determines and screens test samples according to relevant standards, conducts different nursing methods on samples of different groups, and compares them with the same indicators. Finally, this paper combines mathematical statistics to make statistics of experimental results and draws tables and statistical graphs. By comparing multiple parameters, it can be seen that the comprehensive nursing intervention has a good effect on the nursing of children with respiratory tract infection compared with the traditional nursing intervention, so this nursing method can be expanded in the future. To study the application effect of rapid rehabilitation nursing intervention in thoracic surgery nursing, this paper researches controlled trials. First, this paper sets up a control group and a test group. The control group uses traditional nursing methods for thoracic surgical nursing intervention, and the test group adds rapid rehabilitation nursing intervention based on traditional nursing intervention. In addition, the operation and rehabilitation conditions of the control group and the test group are the same. Moreover, this paper records rehabilitation information in real time, performs data processing through statistical methods, and conducts follow-up surveys on the rehabilitation process of patients. In addition, this paper compares nursing effects through data comparison and histogram comparison. From the research results, various parameters of the patient's recovery process and the user satisfaction of the rapid rehabilitation can be seen. The aim of the current systematic review and meta-analysis was to examine the prevalence and incidence of somatoform symptoms and disorders (also referred to as medically unexplained symptoms, psychosomatic symptoms, functional syndromes, somatization disorder, or somatic symptom disorder) in childhood and adolescence. The PRISMA guidelines were followed, and the review was registered prior to initiation (PROSPERO CRD42022339735). Fitting search terms were entered in Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed in June, 2022. Included were articles, reports, book chapters, and conference papers that reported on the prevalence or incidence rates of somatoform symptoms and disorder in under-18-year-olds with empirical primary data; these needed to be published in English or German. Publications were excluded if they focused on abuse, trauma, serious illness, or hypochondria, as well as if they had a qualitative or experimental (intervention) study design. To be included in the meta-analysis, studies needed to report values suitable to calculate a pooled prevalence or incidence rate. After the full-text screening, 33 articles remained, of which 29 were used for the meta-analysis. The quality evaluation criteria proposed by Loney and colleagues (1998) were utilized for quality assessment. The pooled global prevalence rate was 31.0% for somatoform symptoms and 3.3% for somatoform disorders, yet heterogeneity remained high. Aim: This paper aimed to investigate the relationship between social support and quality of life for nurses in infectious disease departments in China, as well as the function of psychological resilience in mediating this relationship. Background: Nurses in infectious disease departments play a critical role in the prevention and control of infectious diseases and in public health care services in general, and their quality of life can affect the quality of clinical nursing work they do. However, there are few studies on the relationship between nurses' social support networks and their quality of life. Methods: A cross‐sectional study was conducted using a sample of 866 clinical nurses from the infectious disease departments of 10 general hospitals in China. Data were collected using a questionnaire survey from January to May 2021. The mediating influence of psychological resilience on social support and quality of life was investigated using structural equation modelling. Results: The score of quality of life was (36.36 ± 7.64). Quality of life was positively correlated with social support and psychological resilience (r1 = 0.521, r2 = 0.583; p <.01), and psychological resilience was positively correlated with social support (r = 0.426; p <.01) as well. The mediating effect of psychological resilience between social support and quality of life was 0.233, accounting for 37% of the total effect. Conclusion: The quality of life of nurses working in infectious disease departments is in the middle level. Psychological resilience is a mediating variable between social support and quality of life. Implications for Nursing Management: Managers can improve the quality of life of nurses by both increasing social support and strengthening psychological resilience. Managers should pay attention to the degree of social support provided to nurses and take proactive measures to build psychological resilience so that nurses can effectively manage stress and negative emotions from work and life in order improve their quality of life. Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the leading cause of death worldwide and they disproportionally affect people living in disadvantaged communities. Nurse‐led behaviour change interventions have shown great promise in preventing CVD. However, knowledge regarding the impact and nature of such interventions in disadvantaged communities is limited. This review aimed to address this knowledge gap. A six‐stage scoping review framework developed by Arksey and O'Malley, with revisions by Levac et al., was used. The search process was guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses‐Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA‐ScR). Three electronic databases were searched (PUBMED/MEDLINE, CINAHL Plus, and Cochrane CENTRAL), and included studies were analysed using Braun and Clarke's 'Thematic Analysis' approach. Initial searches yielded 952 papers and 30 studies were included in the review following duplicate, title/abstract, and full‐text screening. The included studies indicate that nurse‐led behaviour change primary prevention interventions in disadvantaged areas are largely effective; albeit the considerable variety of intervention approaches, study populations and outcome measures used to date make it difficult to ascertain this. Other identified key areas in the promotion of nurse‐led behaviour change included tailoring interventions to specific populations, providing adequate training for nurses, overcoming patient access difficulties and encouraging patient engagement. Overall, the findings indicate that nurse‐led behaviour change interventions for high‐risk CVD patients in disadvantaged areas show much promise, although there is considerable variety in the interventions employed and studied to date. Aim: We aimed to discuss the importance of the integration of nursing theories in advanced nursing to meet future demands. Background: Nursing studies reporting a lack of professional care have increased in recent years and indicate a global complex socioecological problem. The lack of a clear theoretical understanding in education, research and practice makes Advanced Practice Nursing invisible and vulnerable. Design: A theoretical paper was selected to stimulate vital reflexion and debate about the importance of theory integration. Methods: The selection of nursing theories represents the position of some theorists based on our experiences with national and international research and personal leadership in a master's degree program. Implications for nurses: For nurses to continue to make a difference in the lives of their patients, practitioners, and researchers need to practice and expand theoretical understanding within their fields. This would enable them to be visible and at the forefront of the wider changes in health care owing to their central position and connection to health organizations. Conclusion: Nursing theories are essential to the continuing evolution of the discipline of nursing. Postgraduate programs in nursing and research must be encouraged to use and further develop nursing theories to facilitate the advancement of nursing care in education, research, and practice. Aim: We aim to investigate the interplay between moral distress and moral injury among nurses working in palliative and oncology wards and to assess its impact on nursing leadership. Background: The past 2 years have been particularly challenging for nurses and nursing leaders in Croatia. The coronavirus disease pandemic and the subsequent earthquakes in the country significantly impacted the work of nurses. Moral distress has been well‐known to nursing professionals, but recent studies warn about cofounding it with moral injury and their possible intercorrelation, deserving more attention from an empirical perspective. Methods: We conducted quantitative cross‐sectional research in palliative and oncology wards in 11 Croatian health care facilities on 162 nurses, using a questionnaire and paper/pencil method over 6 months (1 January 2021 to 1 July 2021). The questionnaire consisted of three parts: sociodemographic data, a Measure of moral distress for health care professionals and Moral injury symptoms scale for health care professionals. The research protocol was approved by the Ethics committee of the Catholic University of Croatia under no. 1‐21‐04. Results: The findings of our study demonstrated that the current average levels of moral distress might be characterized as low, but the moral injury symptoms are severe. The results of our study bring interesting novel insights, such as the strong correlation between moral distress and moral injury, but also in terms of nurses' decision to leave or consider leaving their position. The nurses who experience higher levels of moral distress experience severe symptoms of moral injury, while nurses who score higher in moral distress and moral injury have left, considered or consider leaving their positions. Conclusions: This study highlighted the need to pay attention to the emerging phenomenon of moral injury that has been unaddressed and overshadowed by moral distress, their intercorrelation, and the importance of addressing them timely and adequately within health care organizations with their leadership and management. Implications for Nursing Management: These findings provide a significant insight that may assist nursing managers and leaders to act and respond in time to develop various prevention and mitigation measures and help resolve situations leading to moral distress or moral injury. Purpose: The study aims to develop a measurement tool that will determine the innovative leadership levels of nurses. Methods: This methodological paper was conducted with 615 nurses. The content validity, factor analyses, and Cronbach's alpha test were used for psychometric assessment. Findings: As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, the scale consists of 43 items and five subscales. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the innovative leadership scale (ILS) is a valid model. Practical Implications: There is a need for innovative leading nurses in the healthcare field. Aim: To identify the factors that are associated with missed nursing care and the nurses' intention to leave. Background: Errors and mistakes are an inevitable part of work, but there is increased evidence that missed care is a concerning issue affecting nurses' ability to effectively coordinate, provide and evaluate care interventions delivered to patients globally. Evaluation: An integrative review of qualitative and quantitative studies examining the consequences of missed nursing care, including intention to leave. Key issues: Eight papers met the inclusion criteria. Thematic analysis generated three themes: Prevalence of missed nursing care, Factors associated with missed nursing care, Factors that impact on missed care and influence the intention to leave. Conclusion: The outcomes of this review demonstrate the need for critical interventions to address the factors that can impact the provision of high‐quality nursing care. Implications for Practice: Missed nursing care is not only a patient safety issue but may also contribute to the inadequate staffing levels. And, better understanding of the factors that affect the intention to leave by nurse managers can stimulate the development of appropriate leadership styles in combination with adjustment of workplace to prevent intention to leave. Aim: To identify predictors and consequences of violence or aggression events against nurses and nursing students in different work contexts. Background: Workplace violence against nurses and nursing students is a very common and widespread phenomenon. Actions to manage or prevent violent events could be implemented knowing the risk factors and consequences. However, there is a lack of systematic reviews that summarize knowledge on the predictors and consequences of workplace violence. Evaluation: A scoping review was conducted using electronic databases including APA PsycInfo, CINAHL, Cochrane, Ovid Medline, PubMed and Scopus. Key issues: After full text analysis, 87 papers were included in the current scoping review. Risk factors of horizontal violence were grouped into 'personal' and 'Environmental and organizational', and for violence perpetrated by patients into 'personal', 'Environmental and organizational' and 'Characteristics of the perpetrators'. Conclusions: The results of this scoping review uncover problems that often remain unaddressed, especially where these episodes are very frequent. Workplace violence prevention and management programmes are essential to counter it. Implications for Nursing Management: The predictors and the consequents identified constitute the body of knowledge necessary for nurse managers to develop and implement policy and system actions to effectively manage or prevent violent events. Shortly after the COVID‐19 pandemic reached Aotearoa New Zealand, stringent lockdown measures lasting 7 weeks were introduced to manage community spread of the virus. This paper reports the findings of a qualitative study examining how lockdown measures impacted upon the lives of nurses, midwives and personal care assistants caring for community‐based patients during this time. The study involved nationwide surveys and in‐depth interviews with 15 registered nurses employed in community settings, two community midwives and five personal care assistants. During the lockdown, nurses, midwives and personal care assistants working in the community showed considerable courage in answering their 'call to duty' by taking on heightened care responsibilities and going 'the extra mile' to help others. They faced significant risks to personal and professional relationships when they were required to take on additional and complex responsibilities for community‐based patients. Despite the hypervigilant monitoring of their personal protective equipment (PPE), the need to safeguard family and community members generated considerable stress and anxiety. Many also faced personal isolation and loneliness as a result of lockdown restrictions. Moreover, the negative impacts of experiences during lockdown often continued to be felt once restrictions had been lifted, inflecting life during periods in which community transmission of COVID‐19 was not occurring. This article makes five core service delivery and policy recommendations for supporting community‐based nurses, midwives and personal care assistants in respiratory disease pandemics: acknowledging the crucial role played by community‐based carers and the associated stress and anxiety they endured by championing respect and compassion; demystifying the 'heroism' or 'self‐sacrifice' projected onto care workers; the timely provision of adequate protective equipment; improving remuneration, with adequate provision for time off; and regular counselling, peer support groups and education on work‐life balance delivered by support workers in recognition of stressors arising from these complex and isolated working conditions. Nurses who work with children have the opportunity to make a difference by identifying and responding to child abuse and neglect. Little is known about the ways that nurses define, assess and respond to child abuse and neglect and how this subsequently affects children. This paper reports one of four themes identified through inductive analysis of a qualitative study exploring nurses' perceptions and experiences of keeping children safe from abuse and neglect. The aim of this paper was to report on how nurses understand and interpret child abuse, is found to be shaped by their own sociocultural contexts. A qualitative research design underpinned by social constructionism framed the study. Data were collected in 2016 and 2017 through 21 in‐depth, semi‐structured interviews with nurses who work with children in Australia. Key findings showed that nurses working with children had difficulty defining child abuse and drew upon multiple sources to construct a working definition. In addition to drawing from official legislation and guidelines, nurses compared and contrasted the level of abuse with their own personal and professional experiences of parenting. Nurses described the challenges of making assessments when faced with cultural practices different from their own. Nurses' descriptions of how they defined abuse showed that their assessments of child abuse and neglect were inextricably linked to their personal values and beliefs. As such, nurses were often working from their own value systems rather than consistently taking a child‐focussed approach. There was an absence of consistent and explicit critical reflection on ways that values and beliefs might shape practice at individual and system levels. We propose this is a missing aspect of child safe practice. Reflection on how personal and professional values and beliefs interact with the implementation of evidence‐informed approaches will increase nurses' capacity to maintain a child‐focus. With the advancement of technology, medical imaging technology has been greatly improved. This article mainly studies the nursing before and after coronary angiography in cardiovascular medicine based on medical imaging technology. This paper proposes a multimodal medical image fusion algorithm based on multiscale decomposition and convolution sparse representation. The algorithm first decomposes the preregistered source medical image by NSST, takes the subimages of different scales as training images, and optimizes the subdictionaries of different scales; then convolution and sparse the subimages on each scale encoding to obtain the sparse coefficients of different subimages; secondly, the combination of improved L1 norm and improved spatial frequency (novel sum-modified SF (NMSF)) is used for high-frequency subimage coefficients, and the fusion of low-frequency subimages improved the rule of combining the L1 norm and the regional energy; finally, the final fused image is obtained by inverse NSST of the fused low-frequency subband and high-frequency subband. Experimental analysis found that the bifurcation angle has nothing to do with the damage of the branch vessels after the main branch stent is placed. The bifurcation angle greater than 50° is an independent predictor of MACE after stent extrusion for bifurcation lesions. Experimental results show that the proposed method has good performance in contrast enhancement, detail extraction, and information retention, and it improves the quality of the fusion image. Aim: This study aimed to analyse the treatment cost of a patient, depending on the number of patients treated, patient waiting times, and the number of nurses and doctors employed in an emergency department of a private hospital. Background: Within health systems, changes in health care resources can be very costly, especially if these changes are long‐term. The discrete‐event simulation method described in this paper allows for the monitoring and analysis of complicated changes in real systems by using computer‐based modelling. Method: The discrete event simulation model was derived from nine scenarios according to the number of nurses and doctors, and a comparison was made between the results of the scenarios and the actual results. Results: Among the scenarios, scenario 6 provided the lowest treatment cost for a patient by employing three doctors and two nurses with the best performance. The cost of treatment for a patient varies between ŧ9.00 and ŧ11.00 depending on the value of δ, and the daily cost of these resources to the hospital is ŧ1300.77. Conclusions: This study provides a clear picture of a cost analysis comparison based on changes made about the actual health system in the computer‐based simulated environment. Implications for Nursing Management: The workforce data of nurses and doctors offers enough detail for cost analysis in health care settings to calculate the cost of treatment for a patient. The paper aims to build a nursing information platform (NIP) for general surgery (GS) patients and explore its clinical application effect based on cloud computing (CC) technology. Specifically, the present work first analyzes and expounds on the characteristics of GS patients, the CC concept, the three-tier service mode of CC, and the cloud data center (CDC). Secondly, based on the principle of the overall system design, the evaluation indexes of medical care end, patient end, family end, and management end are constructed using Visual Studio 2010. Thirdly, the expert evaluation and user evaluation methods are selected to analyze the clinical application effect of the proposed system. Finally, SPSS is used to analyze the effect of the proposed system. The results of the first and second rounds of the expert evaluation show that the authority coefficient of experts is greater than 0.7, which indicates that the degree of expert authority is good. The proposed CC-based GS patient-oriented NIP system is universal. The evaluation results of 20 users have shown 15 doctors and nurses, 14 patients, and 18 family members, who mostly still support applying the proposed CC-based GS patient-oriented NIP system and believe that the system brings convenience and improves work efficiency. Aims: This study aims to explore a proposed translational research continuum for nurse practitioners. Background: Nurse practitioners are acknowledged as clinical leaders responsible for transforming health care delivery. It is important that nurse practitioners contribute to health care knowledge using scientific processes for the implementation of evidence‐based practice and evaluation of outcomes of interventions for their patient groups. Evaluation: This paper provides a review of translational research literature including implementation science to align nurse practitioner activities to a modified translational research framework. Key Issues: A translational research framework has the potential to strengthen nursing research in the nurse practitioner role. Adapting an accepted translational research continuum for nurse practitioners places the clinical nursing leaders in an equitable research position with all health care professionals. Implications for Nursing Management: The translational research continuum provides nursing management with a structure to benchmark nursing research. Due to the recent advancement in technology specifically mobile phones, these devices can be used in the hospital to monitor or speed up various activities, which are related to doctors and nurses. In literature, various mechanisms have been presented to resolve this issue, but none of these approaches have considered effectiveness of this technology in the development of a proper mobile nursing system, which is specifically designed for pregnant women. Therefore, in this paper, we have explored the effect of the intervention model based on the mobile nursing system on the pregnancy outcome of pregnant women. In this study, an Android-based mobile nursing monitoring system was adopted to monitor and transmit the human physiological data through physiological parameter monitoring equipment and continuously monitor the physiological parameter data of pregnant women. If the physiological health data of the pregnant woman was abnormal, it had to implement timely nursing intervention. In this study, 266 pregnant women in the electronic records (E-records) were selected as the research objects and divided into two groups according to the intervention method. Pregnant women in group A received routine physical examination during pregnancy, while those in group B received nursing intervention based on mobile nursing system. The results showed that the incidence of each indicator of pregnancy outcome in group B was significantly lower than that in group A, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The nursing intervention model based on the mobile nursing system can effectively improve the pregnancy outcome. The mobile nursing system can help nursing staff find the abnormalities of pregnant women during pregnancy and give effective nursing measures in time, which helped improve the pregnancy outcomes, reduce the probability of adverse pregnancy outcomes, ensure the safety of puerperae and newborns, and lessen the delivery risk factors. While nursing courses provide a convenient and quick way to learn, they can also be overloaded with resources that can cause learners to become cognitively disoriented or have difficulty choosing nursing course. This paper proposes to fully explore learners' interests in the case of sparse data by fusing knowledge graph technology and deep recommendation models and adopt knowledge graph to model nursing courses at the semantic level so as to correspond the set of nursing courses to the knowledge graph and solve the problem of lack of logical knowledge relationships. Due to the specificity of its positions, the nursing profession must accurately position the nursing professional curriculum standards in the process of determining the talent cultivation model based on the nursing professional positions and the admission requirements for nursing practice qualification. Through linear feature mining based on the knowledge graph, entities and relationships are used to intuitively display the interest paths of nursing professional learners and enhance the interpretability of recommendations. In order to improve the nursing effect of respiratory critical illness, this paper combines the refined nursing method to explore the nursing plan of respiratory critical illness. Moreover, this paper uses the variable control method to explore the effects of nursing management, combines the hospital patient samples to conduct a controlled trial analysis, and conducts sample grouping according to the random grouping method. The patients in the control group are managed by traditional nursing management methods, the patients in the test group are managed by refined nursing management methods, and other conditions are basically the same. In addition, the experiment process variable control is carried out according to the mathematical statistics method, and the reasonable statistics and data processing are carried out. Despite the widespread use of Health Care Support Workers (HCSWs) in providing palliative and end-of-life care, there is little information available about their contributions towards supporting patients who want to be cared for at home or to die at home. Between January and April 2011, a systematic review was conducted to address two questions: (i) What particular tasks/roles do HCSWs perform when caring for people at the end of life and their families to comply with their desire to remain at home?; (ii) What are the challenges and supporting factors that influence HCSWs' ability to provide palliative and end-of-life care in the community? Databases searched for relevant articles published between 1990 until April 2011 included CINAHL, EMBASE, PsychINFO, British Nursing Index, Web of Science, Medline and ASSIA. In total, 1695 papers were identified and their titles and abstracts were read. Ten papers met the eligibility criteria of the study. After the methodological quality of the studies was appraised, nine papers were included in the review. Judgements regarding eligibility and quality were undertaken independently by the authors. The findings indicate that HCSWs invest a great deal of their time on emotional and social support as well as on assisting in the provision of personal care. They are also involved in providing care for the dying, respite care for family members and offer domestic support. Although it is important to acknowledge the many positive aspects that HCSWs provide, the findings suggest three challenges in the HCSWs role: emotional attachment, role ambiguity and inadequate training. Support factors such as informal peer grief-support groups, sense of cohesiveness among HCSWs and task orientation enabled HCSWs to overcome these challenges. To conclude, induction and training programmes, a defined period of preceptorship, appropriate support, supervision and clearly defined role boundaries may be helpful in reducing the challenges identified in HCSWs' roles. Aim: To identify organisational characteristics and practices that promote or inhibit the recognition of sexuality in the care of older people in health and aged care settings. Background: Sexuality in old age is poorly understood by health professionals and rarely addressed in care planning and delivery. Nurse managers are ideally placed to lead organisations in promoting a culture of acceptance that enables the expression of sexuality. Evaluation: A search for research/expert opinion papers published from January 2004 to February 2017 was undertaken. Two reviewers performed data extraction and appraisal of 34 included studies using Joanna Briggs Institute tools. The primarily qualitative research was analysed to identify 152 findings that were organised into 22 categories and combined into four syntheses. Key issue(s): An organisation's philosophies frame the way older people's sexuality is perceived. Cultivating a culture and environment of acceptance, engagement and knowledge and delivering care in a way that promotes opportunity for safe and private expression of sexuality are key enabling factors. Conclusion(s): Organisations and nurse leaders can support and facilitate older adults' expression of their sexuality through the review and development of philosophies, policies, procedures, staff attitudes and knowledge and the creation of a conducive environment. Implications for Nursing Management: Nurse managers play a pivotal role in developing a sexuality‐positive organisational ethos by ensuring policies, care practices, the environment and amenities are supportive of the expression of sexuality and by role modelling attitudes of respect and inclusivity. Aims: The purposes of this article are (a) to review briefly the current literature on shift nurses' sleep patterns, sleep quality, and the existing interventions implemented in nursing settings; and (b) to propose solutions that target individual nurses, nurse managers, and health care organisations to improve sleep health in shift nurses. Background: Sleep problems among shift nurses have been recognized increasingly as a significant issue at both the individual and organisational levels. However, the solutions are not well known. Design: Narrative review. Methods: A literature search was conducted using the following databases: CINAHL, PubMed, Embase, and Google Scholar from 1986 to 2016, to include original papers that reported studies on shift nurses' sleep problems and interventions. Results: Thirteen papers were included in this review, which all indicated associations between shift nurses' sleep problems and current intervention practices. Despite the higher prevalence of sleep problems in shift nurses compared to the general population, current interventional practices only focus on bright‐light exposure, nap breaks, shift schedule rearrangement, and behavioural interventions. Conclusions: To address shift nurses' poor sleep quality, we proposed two levels of approach for consideration—the individual level and the management/institutional level. The recommendations include: improving sleep hygiene; providing a low‐stimulation sleep environment; conducting rigorous intervention studies to evaluate the effectiveness of a variety of therapies to deal with shift nurses' sleep disturbances; increasing awareness of sleep health of shift nurses; establishing a flexible rotating work schedule; and putting in place policies such as a 15–30 min nap break, social support, and a suitable working environment. Implications for Nursing Management: With better awareness and understanding of shift nurses' sleep behaviours, effective interventions can be employed to improve shift nurses' sleep patterns and sleep quality to promote better emotional and health outcomes. Aim The aim of this commentary is to raise awareness about the apparent lack of formal activities and the paucity of published papers in nursing leadership development at the board level in the United Kingdom (UK). The paper suggests a way forward. Background The author has been serving at a board level, within and outside of nursing, locally, nationally and internationally since 1988. His current experience as an active board member and honorary treasurer of a leading charity organization in the Southeast of England and participation on a Board Leadership Development programme in the United States of America (USA) led to the need to write this commentary. Evaluation Leadership at the board level is different because the board is the governing body of an organization. The board has overall responsibility for running the organization. The overall duty is to manage less and LEAD more. The need for this type of leadership is on the increase because these are turbulent days in the healthcare industry. This growing trend witnesses increasing and greater demand from key stakeholders for nursing and healthcare services: rising exposure to liability and litigation; a demand for stronger accountability and questioning of the nature and delivery of nursing and healthcare services. Effective and successful leadership judgment is made based on both numbers [efficient resources utilization (RU)] and stories [effective client/patient satisfaction (CS)]. Conclusions Nurses and others in the healthcare industry need to guide against the leadership myths that: ‘everyone can be a leader’; ‘leaders deliver business (service) results’; ‘people who get to the top are leaders’; and ‘that leaders are great coaches’. This commentary demonstrates these myths could be converted to become realities through developing and possessing most if not all the knowledge, skills and attitudes implicated in the Effective Board Leadership Capabilities Development Profile presented in this paper. Implications for nursing management and leadership Possessing board level leadership capabilities is significant to nursing management and leadership from three key perspectives: the need for nurses to become ‘recognized’ leaders of the healthcare industry; possessing the knowledge, skills and attitudes relevant for effective board leadership; and the need to use the technology of the 21st century to aspire to an essentially intentionally global nursing community. Many good ideas are not communicated to the community of mental health practitioners because advanced practice psychiatric nurses (APPNs) are not being well informed about writing for public dissemination. PURPOSE. This study aims to support APPNs through the various stages of manuscript preparation so they can enlarge the scope of their written contributions to the mental health field. CONCLUSIONS. An appreciation for the skills, mechanics, and attitudes that support the authoring enterprise can result in APPNs enjoying the multiple benefits that accrue to those who write about their professional activities for clinical, administrative, advocacy, fund-raising, and other purposes. By applying the PDCA model to the care of children with Henoch-Schonlein purpura, the nursing process can be divided into four stages: planning, execution, inspection, and treatment. According to the age characteristics and disease progression of pediatric patients, a complete nursing plan is formulated to efficiently implement the nursing content and improve the nursing effect. This paper studies the application of the PDCA nursing model in the nursing of children with Henoch-Schonlein purpura and statistically analyzes the disappearance of skin rash, joint pain relief, disappearance of urine protein, disappearance of gastrointestinal symptoms, etc. Finally, this paper combines the experiment to evaluate the intervention effect of this nursing model and provides reference for the follow-up care of children with Henoch-Schonlein purpura. From the results of experimental research, it can be known that PDCA nursing can improve the comfort of children with Henoch-Schonlein purpura, shorten the time for symptom disappearance, and speed up the recovery process.
