Molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2) as cathodes for aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) typically undergoes sluggish kinetics and irreversible structure distortion because of the strong interaction between intensely electronegative sulfur and intercalated Zn2+, especially for thick electrodes. Herein, we propose a new oxygen-mediated interlayer chemical bonding strategy to achieve high-performance MoS 2 cathode in thick electrode (5–15 mg cm−2). The oxygen-mediated interlayer chemical bonding is facilely formed by intercalating oxygen-rich β-cyclodextrin into MoS 2 nanosheets (denoted as MoS 2 -β-CD), which not only expands the interlayer spacing (from 6.4 to 9.6 Å) but also effectively weakens the electrostatic interaction between Zn2+ and host frameworks, endowing it with fast electron/ion transport and robust structural stability. Consequently, even with 10 mg cm−2 loading, the MoS 2 -β-CD cathode delivers an impressive specific capacity of 228.0 mA h g−1 (2.3 mA h cm−2) at 4 mA cm−2, superior to most advanced MoS 2 -based electrodes. Additionally, the MoS 2 -β-CD electrode also possesses significantly enhanced durability (85.3 % vs. 28.6 % capacity retention after 5000 cycles). This study aimed to investigate the long-term scar hypertrophy in the rabbit transplanted oral mucosa and scrotal skin with changed matrix environment, as well as the scar location expression, quantitative analysis of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-2 (TIMP-2) and biomechanical changes in the transplanted tissues. The split-thickness skin grafts were collected from the oral mucosas and scrotal skins of 30 male rabbits, and prepared into reelpipes for autologous transplantation into the rabbit back muscular tissues. Samples were collected to carry out elastic tensile mechanical detection and histological observation. The maximum longitudinal tensile displacement of scrotal skin before 8 weeks of transplantation was greater than that after 8 weeks of transplantation (P < 0.05). The expression intensities of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in the oral mucosa and in scrotal skin at 2 W time point were higher than those at T o time point (P < 0.05). The expression quantities of TIMP-2 in oral mucosa and scrotal skin during 8–24 W were higher than those of MMP-2 (P < 0.05). At 8 W time point, the TIMP-2/MMP-2 ratio in scrotal skin was higher than that in oral mucosa (P < 0.05). MMP-2 and TIMP-2 expression in normal oral mucosa and scrotal skin is weak, but their expression is remarkably up-regulated after 2 weeks of transplantation, revealing that scar formation was related to the high expression of MMP-2 and TIMP-2. At the 8th–24th weeks, the AOD values of TIMP-2 in oral mucosa and scrotal skin are apparently higher than those of MMP-2; moreover, the TIMP-2/MMP-2 ratio in scrotal skin at the 8th week was higher than that in oral mucosa, which can well explain the earlier scar formation in scrotal skin than in oral mucosa, and it also suggests that the different expression levels between TIMP-2 and MMP-2 may account for the important cause of scar formation. Molten salt hydrate (MSH) is unique in cellulose dissolution and in one-pot conversion of crystalline cellulose into 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF). However, low yield of 5-HMF was obtained using raw biomass substrate in MSHs. Herein, we investigated conversion of raw biomass towards HMF using MSHs. We showed that the release of acetic acid from hemicellulose degradation in MSH is a key to influence the yield of 5-HMF. Thus, an autohydrolysis pretreatment method was proposed to remove hemicellulose before conversion of cellulose into 5-HMF. After being pretreated at 180 °C for 40 min, hemicellulose was removed from biomass with 91.8% yield of cellulose remained in solid part. By eliminating the negative effect of acetic acid, 5-HMF yield was significantly improved from 40.9% to 64.6%, together with 9.3% yield of glucose for cellulose conversion in MSH/acetone at 180 °C for 20 min. Antimony (Sb) with stripping/plating behavior is attractive as anode material for aqueous energy storage. However, it suffers from unfavorable ion diffusion and de-solvation issues due to special coordination environment of Sb(III), resulting in poor rate capability. Herein, we regulate the coordination environment by introducing high-affinity Cl− ligands to achieve high-kinetic and reversible Sb stripping/plating. It enables faster diffusion kinetics and lower de-solvation energy barrier to promote the manageable nucleation and deposition of Sb even at ultrahigh current densities on various of collectors (carbon felt, Ti foil and F-doped tin oxide, etc). Notably, the Sb anode on carbon felt substrate delivers coulombic efficiency of 97.0%, high-rate capability (98.4% capacity retention from 20 to 500 mA cm−2 or 250 C) and satisfactory stability. A series of rare earth metals supported on carbon nanotube (CNT) were tested for the catalytic depolymerization of lignin. The supported cerium (Ce) and lanthanum (La) on CNT were firstly characterized by TEM and N 2 -BET, respectively. The as-prepared catalysts were efficient to depolymerize lignin, whereas 86.1% liquefied fuel yield was obtained at the conditions of 260 °C, 1 h with Ce/CNT catalyst. The catalyst presented high activity even after four times recycle and the yield of liquefied fuel still kept 82.0%. The liquefied fuel were evaluated to be a premium fuel with high contents of C and H and low content of O, together with high calorific value. The basic premise of anammox-technical application reliability in municipal wastewater treatment is substantially enriched anammox bacteria. To enrich the anammox, the special interaction mechanism between the suspended sludge (SS) and anoxic biofilm was investigated over three months in a partial denitrification/anammox biosystem subjected to dynamic changes in SS (absence→ presence→ absence). Results show that the introduction of SS significantly decreased the anammox nitrogen removal efficiency (83.8 ± 6.5%→ 48.7 ± 17.0%). With the presence or absence of SS, the spatial distribution of anammox bacteria within the anoxic biofilm gradually changed between the inner and outer layers, as detected by CLSM-FISH. qPCR and metagenomic sequencing show that changes in the presence and absence status of SS significantly reduced the abundance of the NO reducing functional gene, while the NO supply capacity (NO 3 −→NO) was improved, further favoring the anammox process. Batch tests and typical cycles further demonstrated that the anammox bacteria can stably acquire NO 2 −, and anammox bacteria in the anoxic biofilm competed far more NO 2 − than denitrifying bacteria according to the typical pH curve. Accordingly, the abundance of Candidatus Brocadia, as detected by high throughput sequencing, decreased in the anoxic biofilms with the introduction of SS, but greatly increased (0.82%→2.22%) after SS discharge. A two-stage pretreatment process is proposed in this research in order to improve sugar recovery from corn stover. In the proposed process, corn stover is hydrolyzed by dilute hydrochloric acid to recover xylose, which is followed by a Fenton reagent oxidation to remove lignin. 0.7 wt% dilute hydrochloric acid is applied in the first stage pretreatment at 120 °C for 40 min, resulting in 81.0% xylose removal. Fenton reagent oxidation (1 g/L FeSO 4 ·7H 2 O and 30 g/L H 2 O 2 ) is performed at room temperature (about 20 °C) for 12 has a second stage which resulted in 32.9% lignin removal. The glucose yield in the subsequent enzymatic hydrolysis was 71.3% with a very low cellulase dosage (3 FPU/g). This two-stage pretreatment is effective due to the hydrolysis of hemicelluloses in the first stage and the removal of lignin in the second stage, resulting in a very high sugar recovery with a low enzyme loading. Effluent quality deterioration caused by seasonal temperature reductions in wastewater treatment systems using partial anammox technology is a challenge that cannot be ignored. Here, relationships of denitrification and anammox under decreasing temperature were investigated in an anoxic moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR). Compared with stable partial-denitrification (NO 3 – → NO 2 –), the NO 2 – reduction to N 2 was considerably inhibited when the temperature decreased, conversely helping to the competition of NO 2 – for anammox. Namely, this transformation provided sufficient substrates for anammox bacteria. Although the TIN removal decreased slightly, anammox contribution was robustly maintained at 91.3 ± 6.6 %, even increased. High-throughput sequencing results revealed that anammox bacteria were enriched (0.56 % to 1.22 %). Moreover, qPCR results showed that increased ratio of hzsB /(nirK + nirS) further supported anammox gained an enhancement. This study demonstrated partial-denitrification/anammox process using anoxic MBBR could maintain stable autotrophic nitrogen removal contribution when encountering temperature decrease, providing a new perspective on the application of mainstream anammox. A two-stage process was evaluated to increase sugar recovery. Firstly, corn stover was treated with dilute hydrochloric acid to recover the xylose, and then the residue was subjected to a wet-milling pretreatment. Dilute hydrochloric acid showed a high xylose recovery during the first stage. The optimal condition was 120 °C and 40 min for 0.7 wt% dilute hydrochloric acid pretreatment followed by wet-milling pretreatment for 15 min. The xylose and glucose yield were 81.0% and 64.0%, respectively, with a cellulase dosage at 3 FPU/g of substrate. This two-stage process was effective on account of the removal of hemicelluloses in the first stage and the delamination of cell wall in the second stage, increasing the possibility of adsorption of cellulose to enzymes, and resulting in a high sugar recovery with a very low enzyme loading. The rapid growth of data and the requirement of designers to track massive data to obtain design stimuli have posed challenges to conceptual design, thereby promoting the development of data-driven design. Concept networks precisely capture design information from a large volume of unstructured and heterogeneous textual data and saliently decrease time and labor cost for designers to read texts, which creates new opportunities for developing a smart product design system. To advance data-driven design, this study proposes the novel function-structure concept network (FSCN) construction method, which combines sentence parsing and word/phrase extraction to integrate functional and structural information. Furthermore, a network analysis method is proposed to explore design information associations that contain both explicit and implicit associations together and thereby recommend them simultaneously to designers as inspirational stimuli to support design ideation. This approach can enhance designers' capabilities to build associations between design information, conceive new design ideas during conceptual design, and increase creativity for solving design problems. The proposed FSCN construction and analysis method can be used as an auxiliary tool to visualize associations among design information so as to inspire idea generation in the early stage of conceptual design. This study examines the hepatoprotective activity of naringin loaded solid nanoparticles (NRG-SLNs) and compared with free naringin (FNRG) against aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) induced hepatocellular carcinoma. The liver's self-healing ability was studied using a self-recovery group that received no therapy. Following AFB1 therapy, rats were given NRG-SLNs produced using the ion-gelation technique. Histology, serum injury indicators, oxidative stress biomarkers, a pro-inflammatory response biomarker, and tumor indicators were used to evaluate the liver tumor and its responsiveness to therapy. At a dosage of 6.18 mg/kg BW, NRG-SLNs (128 ± 4 nm) provided substantially greater hepatoprotection than free NRG. The actions of NRG-SLNs were equivalent to those of silymarin (SILY), which was given at a dosage of 20 mg/kg BW. The lack of regeneration potential of liver tissue after the damage was verified by the self-recovery group. NRG's efficiency in treating hepatic cancer was increased by using SLN's approach. The increased impact is most likely due to: a) enhanced oral bioavailability, b) the regulated and sustained action of enclosed NRG, and c) a decrease in discomfort and toxicity if any after orally administered. Molten salt hydrates (MSHs) are remarkable in breaking through the recalcitrant structure of microcrystalline cellulose and raw biomass. After being pretreated in 60 wt% LiBr at 130 °C for 2 h, cellulose crystallinity as well as degree of polymerization (DP) decreased. It was found that 91.3% yield of pretreated cellulose was removed from MSHs by filteration followed by being hydrolyzed into glucose with a high yield of 75.3% by dilute acid under mild reaction conditions. The pretreatment process also works on raw corn stover hydrolysis. After being pretreated at 100 °C for 5 h, 88.4% yield of cellulose in biomass was recovered and can be hydrolyzed into 54.9% yield of glucose with dilute acid. It was found that the cellulose in corn stover can be easier degraded compared with microcrystalline cellulose during MSHs pretreatment, which dues to the formation of acetic acid from hemicellulose hydrolysis. The proposed pretreatment technique presents a promising potential for glucose production from biomass in a commercial way. Abstract Two-stage dilute hydrochloric acid (DA)/aqueous ammonia wet oxidation (AWO) pretreatment was used to recover the sugars of corn stover. The morphology characterizations of samples were detected by SEM, BET and SXT. The results showed that DA-AWO process demonstrated a positive effect on sugar recovery compared to AWO-DA. 82.8% of xylan was recovered in the first stage of DA-AWO process at 120 °C for 40 min with 1 wt% HCl. The second stage was performed under relative mild reaction conditions (130 °C, 12.6 wt% ammonium hydroxide, 3.0 MPa O 2 , 40 min), and 86.1% lignin could be removed. 71.5% of glucan was achieved with a low enzyme dosage (3 FPU·g−1) in the following enzymatic hydrolysis. Recently, partial-denitrification/anammox (PD/A) has attracted increasing interest as a new avenue in mainstream. This study investigated the in situ start-up of PD/A process in a traditional A2/O process. The PD/A system was rapidly started up within 60 days by adding virgin carriers into the anoxic zone and then run stably for the next 90 days. The in situ anammox activity reached 1.0 ± 0.1 mg NH 4 +-N/L/h contributing 37.9 ± 6.2% of total nitrogen removal. As a result, the nitrogen removal efficiency of the system increased by 16.9%. The anammox bacteria (AnAOB) on the anoxic biofilms were enriched with a doubling time of 14.53d, and the relative abundance reached 2.49% on day 150. Phylogenetic analysis showed the dominant AnAOB was related to Ca. Brocadia sp. 40, which was the only detected anammox genus in the anoxic biofilm from start-up to stable operation. Batch tests and qPCR results revealed that compared with the floc sludge, the anoxic biofilms exhibited NO 2 − accumulation driven by PD and performed a better coordination between denitrifiers and AnAOB. Production of 5-HMF from cellulose is a promising approach for advanced bio-fuels preparation, but the degradation of active 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) is a critical challenge affecting 5-HMF selectivity. To address this issue, biphasic reaction system consisting of water and organic solvent is generally used to in-situ extract 5-HMF into organic phase to inhibit product degradation. Despite the high 5-HMF selectivity achieved in biphasic system, low product concentration and difficulty in separation restrict its industrial applications. Molten salt hydrate (MSH) is unique in cellulose conversion and 5-HMF preservation. In this work, MSH of LiBr was used as monophasic solvent for cellulose conversion and an acidity tunable solid acid AlSiO-x was used as the catalyst. It was found that a relatively high 5-HMF yield of 44.5% together with carbon balance of 75.0% were obtained at 170 °C for 20 min, which is higher than the results ever reported. Importantly, this work proved that the ratio of total Brønsted to Lewis acid sites on solid acid is the key issue affected 5-HMF yield. After reaction, solid acid can be recycled for more than 5 times without catalytic performance decline, and the dissolved 5-HMF can be sufficiently separated from MSH via hyper cross-linked polymer (HCP) adsorption. With the aim to enhance the direct conversion of raw corn stover into furfural, a promising approach was proposed employing a novel heterogeneous strong acid catalyst (SC-CaC t -700) in different solvents. The novel catalyst was characterized by elemental analysis, N 2 adsorption-desorption, FT-IR, XPS, TEM and SEM. The developed catalytic system demonstrated superior efficacy for furfural production from raw corn stover. The effects of reaction temperature, residence time, catalyst loading, substrate concentration and solvent were investigated and optimized. 93% furfural yield was obtained from 150 mg corn stover at 200 °C in 100 min using 45 mg catalyst in γ-valerolactone (GVL). In comparison, 51.5% furfural yield was achieved in aqueous media under the same conditions (200 °C, 5 h, and 45 mg catalyst), which is of great industrial interest. A novel carbon solid acid catalyst was synthesized by the sulfonation of carbonaceous material which was prepared by carbonization of sucrose using 4-BDS as a sulfonating agent. TEM, N 2 adsorption–desorption, elemental analysis, XPS and FT-IR were used to characterize the catalyst. Then, the catalyst was applied for the conversion of xylose and corn stalk into furfural in GVL. The influence of the reaction time, temperature and dosage of catalyst on xylose dehydration were also investigated. The Brønsted acid catalyst exhibited high activity in the dehydration of xylose, with a high furfural yield of 78.5% at 170 °C in 30 min. What’s more, a 60.6% furfural yield from corn stalk was achieved in 100 min at 200 °C. Selective hydrolysis of crystalline cellulose to cello-oligosaccharides in molten salt hydrates (MSHs) is a promising method for valorization of lignocellulose. However, the by-products derived from cellulose hydrolysis can facilitate cello-oligosaccharide degradation and decrease its selectivity. To address this issue, lignin-based hyper cross-linked polymers (LHCPs) were prepared to in situ adsorb by-products during hydrolysis and thus prevent cello-oligosaccharides from degradation. The synthesized LHCP‐33%, with a high lignin content of 33%, showed a remarkable surface area of 708.7 m2 g−1 and good hydrophilicity, exhibiting a promising adsorption capacity of 340 mg g−1 towards 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF), which is supposed to be the major cellulose-derived by-product. We showed that 5-HMF adsorption was driven by the formation of CH-π bonds between 5-HMF and aromatic rings on LHCP. When LHCP‐33% was employed in cellulose hydrolysis, the yield of cello-oligosaccharide can be efficiently enhanced from 39.5% to 78.2%. A modified anaerobic-anoxic-oxic (A2/O) process run for 500 days with actual municipal wastewater. Microbial analysis revealed that anoxic-carrier biofilms had a significantly higher abundance of anammox (qPCR: 0.74% – 4.34%) than suspended sludge (P< 0.001). Batch tests showed that anammox within anoxic-carrier biofilms contributed to significant nitrogen removal, coupled with partial-denitrification (NO 3 − → NO 2 −). The anammox genus, Ca. Brocadia, was highly enriched when suspended sludge was accidentally lost. Further batch tests found that reducing suspended biomass helped anammox enrichment in anoxic-carrier biofilms, because the suspended sludge had strong NO 2 − competition (NO 2 − → N 2) with anammox (increased nirK). Brocadia dominates in the anoxic-carrier biofilms, and is the most important narG contributor to NO 3 − → NO 2 −, which could have promoted the competition of NO 2 − with heterotrophic bacteria. For this A2/O process, the low effluent total nitrogen (8.9 mg ± 1.0 mg N/L) was attributed to partial-denitrification coupling with anammox, demonstrating that this process is applicable to the general influent N-concentration range (30 mg – 50 mg NH 4 +-N/L) of municipal wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). Based on the special competitive preference of anammox for NO 2 −, this study provides a promising and practical alternative for enriching anammox bacteria in municipal WWTPs. P-toluene sulfonic acid (PTSA) was utilized to pretreat corn stover. Changes in morphology and structure of untreated and pretreated samples were analyzed by ESEM, TEM, BET, XRD and SXT. The characterization results demonstrated that PTSA pretreatment could markedly improve cellulase accessibility to cellulose because of the removal of lignin and hemicellulose simultaneously. The maximum glucose yield (67.2%) with an enzyme loading of 5FPU•g−1 substrate was achieved after the sample was the pretreated at 80 °C for 10 min with 71.0 wt% PTSA. P-toluene sulfonic acid pretreatment was a valid method to improve the enzymatic hydrolysis performance of cellulose in corn stover at low reaction temperature with a short reaction time. • PTSA pretreatment can remove lignin and hemicellulose simultaneously under mild condition. • P-toluene sulfonic acid pretreatment was an effective pretreatment process. • 67.2% of glucose yield was achieved at a low enzyme loading of 5FPU·g−1 substrate.
