A research supporting the robust generalization that groups perform better than the average individual on a range of problem-solving tasks is presented. Results indicate that the superiority of groups over the average individual increases, as the task becomes increasingly intellective, from estimation, to vocabulary and world knowledge, to problem solving within a logical or quantitative conceptual system.

Abstract

The influence of farmers' neighbors on the use of new technology is investigated using an estimation model that allows neighbors to interact. Results show that the use of a tool by one farmer will likely influence the use of a neighbor of the sameimplement. Thus, it can be concluded that neighbors significantly influence a person's decision-making regarding technology and ignoring this factor may leadto biases in consumer behavior studies.

The effect of semantic information on episodic source decisions is examined. A robust schema-related response bias in source monitoring was demonstrated and it was further observed that when schemas were present only during retrieval, the response bias was more likely to occur.
