In this study, a bilayer zigzag graphyne nanoribbon with RKKY interaction is described using a ferrimagnetic mixed-spin (2, 5/2) Ising model. The compensation behaviors and hysteresis characteristics of the system generated by various physical parameters, such as crystal fields of sublattices, interlayer exchange coupling and the intralayer exchange coupling are explored using Monte Carlo simulation. In the research results, we found that among the 30 possible spin configurations that may occur in the ground state of the system, only 21 spin configurations are stable. At the same time, under certain parameters, the system exhibit interesting behaviors such as compensation phenomena and multi-loop hysteresis. • YFeO 3 have been studied with GGA and GGA+U reveal a semi-conductor and an Antiferromagnetic type-G behavior. • Magnetic anisotropy results for both approximations show that easy axis magnetization for YFeO 3 is along the c-axis. • Evaluation of the electric polarization and the magnetic transition temperature of the orthorhombic YFeO 3 has done. In this study, we have thoroughly investigated the electronic, magnetic, and electrical properties of yttrium orthoferrite using density functional theory (DFT) within the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) and the (GGA + U) approach, which incorporates the Hubbard term (U). Both approximations consistently reveal a semiconductor behavior and an antiferromagnetic behavior of type-G between the iron (Fe) ions. To delve deeper into the magnetic interactions within YFeO 3 , we have proposed a physical model. This model allows us to calculate the magnetic exchange coupling and magnetic anisotropy parameters through DFT calculations. Additionally, we have conducted computations to determine the electric polarization. Our results have shown that the electric polarization in YFeO 3 is exclusively derived from electronic polarization. We have also explored the relationship between the direction of electric polarization and the easy-axis magnetization. In our investigation, we found that both the electric polarization and easy-axis magnetization align along the c-axis in both approximations. Furthermore, we have examined the influence of the Hubbard term on the direction of polarization. To assess the magnetic temperature transition, we employed Monte Carlo simulations using the Ising model. The critical temperature, denoted as T N , obtained with the GGA approximation is found to be 726.66 K. We studied the compensation behavior, the reentrant phenomena characterizing first order phase transitions, and the exchange bias effect manifested by asymmetric hysteresis loops for a core–shell nanotube with mixed spin (1 , 3 / 2) by combining both the effective field theory and the probability distribution technique. Since our system is intended to be disordered on the shell, a uniform distribution for the exchange anisotropy proposed. Among the interesting results are the compensation behavior in the ideal and disordered cases, where we noticed a critical behavior manifested by total magnetization persistence, the compensation behavior accompanied by the reentrant phenomena, as well as the multi-loops behavior, exchange bias effect, and magnetic susceptibility. A mixed-spin (5/2, 3/2) Ising model is established to describe the antiferroelectric/ferroelectric (AFE/FE) BiFeO 3 /Co bilayer structure. We study the effects of the crystal field, exchange coupling and external longitudinal electric field on the dielectric properties of the bilayer based on Monte Carlo simulation. We illustrate the temperature dependence of polarization, susceptibility, internal energy and specific heat of the system in detail. As well, we depict the phase diagram and point out the rule of the blocking temperature with various parameters. In particular, we find rich and interesting multi-cycle electric hysteresis behaviors. In this work, the Effective Field Theory (EFT) based on the probability distribution method is used to study the phase diagrams of an antiferroelectric nanowire with core/shell morphology, in the presence of a random transverse field. We have investigated the effects of the temperature, the concentration c , the surface and the interfacial couplings on the critical and the compensation behaviors (T c and T comp) of the system. The polarization, the susceptibility and the pyroelectric coefficient as a function of the temperature are examined. In addition, the phase diagrams of the nanowire are investigated in detail by modifying the system parameters. We proposed a ferrimagnetic mixed-spin (1, 3/2) Ising model to study the magnetic behaviors of a graphene ladder-type chain structure by means of Monte Carlo simulation. Abstract Based on the Ising model, the magnetic and thermodynamic properties of a ferrimagnetic mixed-spin (1/2, 1, 3/2) nanoisland with a double-layer quadrangle core-shell structure has been investigated by Monte Carlo simulation. The magnetization of the total system and three sublattices, susceptibility, blocking temperature, internal energy and hysteresis loops have been discussed in detail. The phase diagrams of the T B under the influence of various parameters have been given. We have obtained the critical exponents β and γ for the system. A mixed spin-1 and spin-2 Ising ferrimagnetic system is investigated on a square lattice of spins S = ± 2 , ± 1 , 0 and Q = ± 1 , 0 in the presence of an h ′ external magnetic field, such that S and Q are nearest-neighbors antiferromagnetically coupled. Using Monte Carlo simulations we calculate the finite temperature phase diagrams of the magnetization and the specific heat. We consider ferromagnetic interactions between next-nearest neighbors, S spins ( J 2 ′ ), as well as between the Q spins ( J 3 ′ ), and crystal field and external magnetic field interactions at each point of the lattice. Under these conditions the system exhibits spin compensation temperatures and a first-order reentrant behavior in a certain range of the parameters of the Hamiltonian. We analyze the behavior of the critical and compensation temperatures, as well as the first order phase transition temperatures, with the external magnetic and crystal fields, and the next-nearest neighbors interaction between S spins. The magnetic properties of the mixed spin-1 and spin-5/2 Ising ferrimagnetic model on a hexagonal lattice have been studied using the Monte Carlo simulations. Monte Carlo simulation is used to study the magnetic properties of mixed spin (3/2, 1) disordered binary alloys on simple cubic, hexagonal and amorphous magnetic ultra-thin films with 18 × 18 × 2 atoms. To this end, at the first approximation, the exchange coupling interaction between the spins is considered as a constant value and at the second one, the Ruderman–Kittel–Kasuya–Yosida (RKKY) model is used. Effects of concentration, structure, exchange interaction, single ion-anisotropy and the film size on the magnetic properties of disordered ferromagnetic and ferrimagnetic binary alloys are investigated. Our results indicate that the spontaneous magnetization and critical temperatures of rare earth-3 d transition binary alloys are affected by these parameters. Thermodynamic and magnetic properties of a trilayer nanostructure of hexagonal lattices described by the spin-1/2 Ising model are investigated by the use of the effective-field theory (EFT) with correlations. The results for the magnetization, the free energy, the internal energy, the entropy, the specific heat and the critical frontiers were obtained. The critical temperature and the compensation temperature are investigated with a negative interlayer coupling, in order to clarify the distinction between the ferromagnetic and ferrimagnetic behaviors. Magnetic properties of mixed spin (3/2, 1, 1/2) ferro-ferrimagnetic ternary alloys of the type A y ( B x C 1 − x ) 1 − y are investigated, by means of the Monte Carlo simulation. For this purpose, the influence of concentration, temperature and an external magnetic field on magnetization, magnetic hysteresis loop, magnetic susceptibility and specific heat of ternary alloys with amorphous structures are examined. We study the thermodynamic and magnetic properties of an Ising bilayer ferrimagnet. The system is composed of two interacting non-equivalent planes in which the intralayer couplings are ferromagnetic while the interlayer interactions are antiferromagnetic. Moreover, one of the planes is randomly diluted. The study is carried out within a Monte Carlo approach employing the multiple histogram reweighting method and finite-size scaling tools. The occurrence of a compensation phenomenon is verified and the compensation temperature, as well as the critical temperature for the model, are obtained as functions of the Hamiltonian parameters. We present a detailed discussion of the regions of the parameter space where the compensation effect is present or absent. Our results are then compared to a mean-field-like approximation applied to the same model by Balcerzak and Szałowski (2014). By using the effective field theory (EFT), the mixed spin-1/2 and spin-3/2 Ising ferrimagnetic model adapted to a double perovskite structure has been studied. The EFT calculations have been carried out from Ising Hamiltonian by taking into account first and second nearest-neighbors interactions and the crystal and external magnetic fields. Both first- and second-order phase transitions have been found in phase diagrams of interest. Depending on crystal-field values, the thermodynamic behavior of total magnetization indicated the compensation phenomenon existence. A hexagonal nanowire consisting of a ferromagnetic spin– 1 2 core and spin– 3 2 outer shell coupled with ferrimagnetic interlayer coupling has been studied by the use of the Monte Carlo simulation based on the heat bath algorithm. The phase diagrams and magnetizations of Ising nanowires with simple core–shell structure are investigated by the use of the effective field theory with correlations. The probability distribution technique, exploited within the framework of effective field theory and the Ising model, was used to study the magnetic and thermal properties of a nanowire assimilated to a hexagonal shaped system of a core–shell structure and with mixed spins (3 / 2 , 2) , respectively. The coupling between core and shell is ferrimagnetic. Under certain physical parameter values, the nanowire exhibits the compensation behavior. The hysteresis behavior was investigated in the presence of an external magnetic field by magnetizing and demagnetizing the nanowire, as well as the effects of single ion anisotropy, ferrimagnetic exchange interactions and temperature on hysteresis loops. The dependence of the shapes of loops on the physical parameters of the system has been elucidated. At low temperatures, the nanowire exhibits triple, quadruple, quintuple, sextuple, septuple and nonuple hysteresis loop behaviors, which have important technological applications. • The mixed spin Ising model is generally used as a modeling tool to study ferrimagnetism. • Monte Carlo simulation to study the critical and the compensation behaviors of a cubic lattice considering a mixed spin- 3/2 and spin-1 Ising ferrimagnetic model. • The presence of crystal and external magnetic fields is not sufficient to generate the compensation phenomenon in a mixed spins. The magnetic properties of ferrimagnetic spin-2 and 3/2 Ising-typed thin films are studied by Monte Carlo simulation. The critical temperature is obtained for different values of thickness of the thin film and for different exchange interactions. We study the mixed spin-1 and spin-3/2 ferrimagnetic Ising system under the effect of different random crystal-fields within the mean-field theory based on the Bogoliubov inequality for the Gibbs free energy. The phase diagrams are obtained in the plane of critical temperature versus random crystal-field, showing a tricritical behavior with second-order transition lines separating the first-order transition lines by tricritical points. We performed the Monte Carlo simulation (MCs) in order to study the magnetic properties and the critical behavior of Sr 2 CrMoO 6 . Within this magnetic oxide, the Cr 3+ and Mo 5+ ions form two interpenetrating ferromagnetic sublattices with opposite spins directions (Cr 3 + up and Mo 5+ down). The exchange interaction between these sublattices is assumed to be ferrimagnetic. The effects of the system parameters on critical temperatures and as a result on the phase diagrams are shown by using reduced values of parameters. The phase transitions and the magnetic stability are investigated in the framework of Ising model. For specific values of the system parameters, the existence of a compensation point is shown. Furthermore, to investigate the critical behavior, the critical exponents are calculated, they indicate that the compound belongs to a three dimensional Ising universality class. In this study we used the path probability method (PPM) to calculate the dynamic phase diagrams of a ferrimagnetic mixed spin-(1/2, 1) Ising system under an oscillating magnetic field. One of the main advantages of the PPM over the mean-field approximation and the effective-field theory based on Glauber-type stochastic dynamics is that it contains two rate constants which are very important for studying dynamic behaviors. We present the dynamic phase diagrams in the reduced magnetic field amplitude and reduced temperature plane and the twelve main different topological types of the phase diagrams are obtained. The phase diagrams contain paramagnetic (p), ferrimagnetic (i) and i + p mixed phases. They also exhibit a dynamic tricritical and reentrant behavior as well as the dynamic double critical end point (B), critical end point (E), quadruple point (QP) and triple point (TP). The dynamic phase diagrams are compared and discussed with the phase diagrams obtained in previous works within the mean-field approximation and the effective-field theory based on Glauber-type stochastic dynamics. Nonequilibrium phase transition properties of a mixed Ising ferrimagnetic model consisting of spin-1/2 and spin-3/2 on a square lattice under the existence of a time dependent oscillating magnetic field have been investigated by making use of Monte Carlo simulations with a single-spin flip Metropolis algorithm. A complete picture of dynamic phase boundary and magnetization profiles have been illustrated and the conditions of a dynamic compensation behavior have been discussed in detail. According to our simulation results, the considered system does not point out a dynamic compensation behavior, when it only includes the nearest-neighbor interaction, single-ion anisotropy and an oscillating magnetic field source. As the next-nearest-neighbor interaction between the spins-1/2 takes into account and exceeds a characteristic value which sensitively depends upon values of single-ion anisotropy and only of amplitude of external magnetic field, a dynamic compensation behavior occurs in the system. Finally, it is reported that it has not been found any evidence of dynamically first-order phase transition between dynamically ordered and disordered phases, which conflicts with the recently published molecular field investigation, for a wide range of selected system parameters. The effective-field theory with correlations based on Glauber-type stochastic dynamic is used to study the dynamic compensation behavior of the mixed spin-1 and spin-3/2 ferrimagnetic Ising model. The system is a layered honeycomb structure in which two kinds of spins (spin-1 and spin-3/2) occupy sites alternately. This is related to the experimental works of a molecular-based magnetic multilayer film, AM II Fe II ( C 2 O 4 ) 3 ( A = N ( n − C n H 2 n + 1 ) 4 , M II = Mn,Fe ) . The system is in the presence of a sinusoidal oscillating magnetic field and the Glauber dynamic is used to describe the time evolution of the system. Besides second-order phase transition, lines of first-order phase transition, the dynamic tricritical point, the dynamic zero-temperature critical point and the multicritical point are found. Monte Carlo simulation has been used to study the magnetic properties of a mixed spin-1 and spin-3/2 ferrimagnetic through Ising model on a honeycomb lattice. The mixed spin-1/2 Ising model and spin-1 Blume–Capel model in an hexagonal nanowire structure under the presence of crystal field is considered. The free energy is obtained through the transfer matrix technique, which is solved numerically. Our main result lies in the presence of pseudo-transition in low temperature region near the ferrimagnetic/ferromagnetic boundary, due to the influence of a crystal field. The evidence of a pseudo-transition is observed in several quantities. Free energy first derivative quantities like entropy and internal energy show an abrupt but continuous jump, whereas quantities associated with second derivatives of the free energy like the specific heat exhibit a strong sharp peak, quite similar to a second order phase transition. We also investigate magnetization patterns and do not find evidence of spontaneous magnetization. Using the effective field theory with a probability distribution technique that accounts for the self-spin correlation function, the thermal and the magnetic properties of a single Ising nanoparticle consisting of a ferromagnetic core, a ferromagnetic surface shell and a ferrimagnetic interface coupling are examined. The effect of the transverse field in the surface shell, the exchange interactions between core/shell and in surface shell on the free energy, thermal magnetization, specific heat and susceptibility are studied. A number of interesting phenomena have been found such as the existence of the compensation phenomenon and the magnetization profiles exhibit P-type, N-type and Q-type behaviors. An effective field method has been employed to study the magnetic properties of a ferrimagnetic mixed-spin Ising trilayer nanographene structure. The system is formed by alternate layers of two different spins atoms A (spin-1) and B (spin-½) arranged in a particular fashion A – B – A for which the nearest-neighbor spins of each layer are coupled ferromagnetically (J A and J B), whereas the cross atom interaction A - B (interlayer) is antiferromagnetic (J AB). We examined the effects of interlayer (or intra-layer) exchange coupling and single-ion anisotropy on the magnetization curves of the system. We found that the antiferromagnetic inter-layers (J AB < 0) coupling and the single-ion anisotropy have a dominant factor in the occurrence of the single or the double compensation temperature. We also deeply examined the occurrence of hysteresis loops and their various unusual forms. The results obtained are discussed in detail as a function of the main parameters of the magnetic Hamiltonian. Abstract: In this work, we have used Monte Carlo Simulation technique (MCS) and effective field theory (EFT) to study the critical and the compensation behaviors of a ferrimagnetic cylindrical nanowire. The system consists of a ferromagnetic spin S A =1/2 core and a ferromagnetic spin S B =1 surface shell coupled with an antiferromagnetic interlayer coupling J 1 to the core. Abstract: A Monte Carlo Simulation has been used to study the critical behavior of the magnetic spin-1 Ising nanowire on an hexagonal lattice structure. Our system consists of a ferromagnetic core with two shells, coupled antiferromagnetically with a surface shell. The effects of the crystal field, the shell and the core/shell interactions on the behavior of the system are examined. We found that the system exhibits one or two compensation points, the first and the second order transitions. Moreover, we have obtained that the critical point depends on the shell coupling. Abstract: We study the effect of two different single-ion anisotropies in the phase diagram and in the compensation temperature of mixed spin-2 and spin- Ising ferrimagnetic system. We employed the mean-field theory based on the Bogoliubov inequality for Gibbs free energy. We use the Landau expansion of free energy in the order parameter to describe the phase diagram. In the temperature versus single-ion anisotropy plane the phase diagram displays tricritical behavior. Monte Carlo simulation has been employed to investigate the magnetic properties and phase diagrams of ferrimagnetic mixed-spin (1 / 2 , 1) triangular Ising nanotube with core–shell structure. In particular, the effect of the exchange couplings and the temperature on the magnetic and thermodynamic properties, hysteresis loops, and the compensation temperature have been discussed in detail. Moreover, the effects of the single-ion anisotropy and external magnetic field have been examined. The threshold values of the exchange couplings and single-ion anisotropy have been found, determining whether the system exhibits a compensation temperature. We have found that the appearance of the compensation temperature is strongly linked with the system parameters. In this paper, we have examined in detail the behavior of magnetic properties, hysteresis loops, and compensation phenomenon of a ferrimagnetic mixed spin- (3 ∕ 2 , 2) hexagonal Ising nanowire with alternate layers within the Monte Carlo method based on the Metropolis algorithm. We applied Monte Carlo simulation to investigate the thermodynamic properties and hysteresis loops of the hexagonal core-shell nanoparticle described by a ferrimagnetic mixed-spin (3/2, 5/2) Ising model. In this work, we discussed the dynamic magnetic behaviors of a ferrimagnetic mixed spin-1 and spin-3/2 Ising ladder-type graphene nanoribbon in a time-dependent magnetic field by utilizing Monte Carlo simulation. The influence of exchange couplings, crystal-field, time-dependent oscillating magnetic field as well as temperature on the magnetic properties and hysteresis behaviors of the system was studied in detail. Various curves of the dynamic order parameter, susceptibility and internal energy of the system and hysteresis loops were obtained for different Hamiltonian parameters. What is striking is that the system may display double-loop hysteresis behavior under certain parameters. We studied stationary solutions of dynamic average magnetizations and obtained phases and then we investigated thermal behaviors of dynamic magnetizations to designate the nature of the DPTs and find the DPT temperatures. We also constructed the dynamic phase diagrams (DPDs) in two different planes. DPDs exhibit the paramagnetic (p), ferrimagnetic (i), and mixed phases (i + p), and one or two dynamic tricritical points and dynamic double critical end points. The reentrant behavior is also seen. Magnetic properties of a trilayer nanostructure of hexagonal lattices described by the spin-1/2 Ising model are investigated via the effective-field theory (EFT) with correlations. In order to clarify the distinction between the ferromagnetic and ferrimagnetic behaviors, the total magnetization, total susceptibility, total inverse susceptibility and critical boundaries have been obtained for positive and negative interlayers couplings. • We study a frustrated general spin-S Ising antiferromagnet on a kagome lattice. • We explore possibility of long-range ordering for any finite or infinite values of S. • Character of the spin-correlation function is studied by Monte Carlo simulations. • It is found that system remains disordered for any spin S and any finite temperature. The possibility of the emergence of some kind of long-range ordering (LRO) due to the increase of multiplicity of the local degrees of freedom (spin value S) is studied in an Ising antiferromagnet on a kagome lattice (IAKL) by Monte Carlo simulation. In particular, the critical exponent of the spin correlation function, obtained from a finite-size scaling analysis, is evaluated for various values of S , including S = ∞ , with the goal to determine whether there exists some threshold value of the spin S C above which the system would show true or quasi-LRO, similar to a related model on a triangular lattice (IATL). The double perovskite Ba 2 FeMnO 6 is studied by using density functional theory calculations and Monte Carlo simulation within the framework of the Ising model. Based on the minimum energy, the structure was optimized and the stable configuration of spins in Ba 2 FeMnO 6 double perovskite was determined. The magnetic moments, the band structure and the electronic density of states (DOS) were analyzed in details. The oxide Ba 2 FeMnO 6 exhibits a half-metallic behavior with a band gap close to the value 0.3 (eV). The stable spin configuration is considered for the Monte Carlo simulation. Abstract: Geometric frustration in magnetic systems is a key ingredient for magnetodielectric coupling. Ca3Co2O6 system is a model of triangular Ising lattice and presenting exotic magnetic properties. With a partially disordered antiferromagnetic ground state and two steps in magnetisation to a ferrimagnetic state and to a ferromagnetic state, this oxide is a good system for studying the effect of frustration in magnetodielectric coupling. A spin-1/2 Ising model, defined in the body centered cubic lattice, is used to describe some of the thermodynamic properties of Fe p - Al q alloys, with p + q = 1. The model assumes, besides the nearest-neighbor exchange coupling, the existence of further next-nearest-neighbor superexchange interactions, where the latter ones depend on the aluminum atoms cluster size. The Ising system so considered is studied by employing Monte Carlo simulations, using a hybrid algorithm consisting of one single-spin Metropolis move together with one single-cluster Wolff algorithm allied, in addition, with single histograms procedures and finite-size scaling techniques. Quite good fits to the experimental results of the ordering critical temperature, as a function of Al concentration in the range 0 ⩽ q < 0.7 , are obtained and compared to more recent theoretical approaches done on the same alloys. Magnetic and thermodynamic characteristics of Ising ferrimagnetic core-shell graphene nanoribbon with core spin −2 and shell spin 5/2 were investigated by using the effective field theory with correlations. Some characteristic phenomena have been found in the system. Different saturation magnetization and P-type and Q-type curves were found on the magnetization curves. At low temperature, the magnetization has obvious magnetization platform. Due to the results of exchange coupling, anisotropy and external magnetic field competition, the m 5 -m 7 sublattice magnetization platform presents a concave shape. A ferrimagnetic mixed spin square Blume-Capel Ising nanowire system on spin-1 core and spin-3/2 outer shell have been investigated. The general formula for the temperature dependence of the equilibrium magnetization of the system is presented. The ferrimagnetic core-shell nanosystem shows a compensation point when the exchange interactions are changed for different values of the single-ion anisotropies of shell sublattices and core ones, respectively. In this paper, we proposed a ferrimagnetic mixed-spin (1, 3/2) Ising model to describe the ladder-like graphene nanoribbon. Magnetic and thermodynamic properties of the zigzag graphene nanoribbon described by Ising model have been studied within Monte Carlo simulation. The system exhibited interesting and rich magnetization plateaus behaviors at low temperature, which is sensitive to the exchange coupling and the anisotropy. In certain parameters, the depressed saturation magnetization, spin-flip or spin-flop has been found on the magnetization curves. The peaks on the susceptibility and specific heat curves originate from competition among the magnetic field, the exchange couplings and anisotropies. The spin configurations of the zigzag graphene nanoribbon can be modulated by the anisotropies.
