The morphology-dependent antibacterial activity of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles with three different morphologies, nanowall (NW), nanosphere (NS), and, nanorod (NR) was rigorously investigated to elucidate the influence of shape and size on their performance. Their morphological, surface, and structural characteristics were meticulously analyzed using SEM, BET, and XRD techniques. The antibacterial activity of synthesized ZnO samples was initially investigated and validated through in silico docking studies against nine bacterial strains, specifically targeting 1GCI, 2DCJ, 6KMM and 3T07, 6KVQ, 1MWT from gram-positive Bacillus sp. and Staphylococcus sp. respectively, 6N38, 6CRT, 6GRH from gram-negative E. coli. The docking simulations were performed using Autodock 4.2 software, yielding promising results characterized by negative binding energies, indicative of favorable interactions. The invitro studies were assessed against three same bacteria mentioned above using the disk diffusion method. The results demonstrated a pronounced dependency of antibacterial activity on the surface area, average crystallite size, and surface roughness of ZnO samples. ZnO (NW) exhibited markedly superior antibacterial properties. This enhanced efficacy is attributed to their higher surface area to volume ratio, smaller average crystallite size and increased surface roughness facilitating more efficient interactions with bacterial cell membranes. In this research, we fabricated a functional conductive nanocomposite with valuable properties through a chitin (CH) and cellulose (CE) polymerization process, incorporating ZnO/(0.1, 0.2, 0.3 mol.%) CuO bioactive nanoparticles. These bioactive nanoparticles, synthesized through sol-gel and polymerization interactions, greatly enhanced the structural, dielectric, and antimicrobial characteristics of CH-CE@ZnO/CuO conductive nanocomposites. The morphological analysis revealed that these nanoparticles, with diameters ranging from 11-25 nm, formed covalent bonds with the membrane matrix, bolstering the conductive nanocomposites ' structural integrity and dielectric performance. The dielectric properties of the conductive nanocomposites were significantly enhanced by the even distribution of ZnO/CuO nanoparticles within the CH-CE composite. ZnO nanoparticles and Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) tend to agglomerate when used individually, and high Ag + concentrations can cause cytotoxicity. To address these issues, we synthesized carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC)-based antimicrobial mimetic peptides (AMPMs) by introducing amphiphilic cations on the surface of CMC using a chemical grafting method. Bis-formaldehyde-formylated AMPMs were prepared through the directional oxidation of AMPMs with periodate and used as the reducing agent to synthesize AgNPs on the surface of pectin in situ for the preparation of a pectin/AgNPs/ZnO composite film. The physical and chemical properties of the films were characterized and analyzed by SEM (EDS), TEM, XRD, and UV spectroscopy. The results showed that the film's surface was smooth and flat, with small, well-stabilized AgNPs and uniformly dispersed ZnO. The film retained the original crystalline form of pectin, but exhibited altered crystallinity, indicating that the method employed was very mild. A systematic evaluation of the film's antimicrobial performance using the dynamic growth curve, inhibition zone, and colony counting methods showed that AgNPs and ZnO imparted excellent, long-lasting antimicrobial activity to the film (98 %). Additionally, the films exhibited good flexibility, excellent ultraviolet protection (99.9 %), biocompatibility, and biodegradability. Notably, the film was sensitive to humidity, as demonstrated by its humidity-responsive bionic application. An edible composite film was developed and applied for ready-to-eat sea cucumber storage to improve the product quality. The PAC film base is first prepared by mixing 0.5 % glycerin (GL) with 4 % polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and 1 % arginine-modified chitosan (Arg-CTS) in the same volume. After the addition of nano-ZnO (ZnO) and thymol (Thy) to the PAC film base, the mechanical properties and functions were tested. Compared to the PAC film, the PAC-ZnO-ThyH composite film showed a 1.34-fold increase in the DPPH scavenging rate and a 2.19-fold increase in the ABTS scavenging rate. Contrary to the PAC film, the inhibition zone diameter of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus significantly increased by 2.35 and 4.08 folds in the PAC-Zno-ThyH film, respectively. After applying the PAC-ZnO-ThyH film to store ready-to-eat sea cucumber for 10 days, there was a significant reduction in weight loss, total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N), and lipid oxidation levels to 1.47 and 1.26 folds to the Ctrl group. After preservation, the hardness and chewiness of ready-to-eat sea cucumber were maintained at 1079.62 ± 138.86 N and 913.73 ± 175.79 N, respectively. Allium mongolicum Regel is prone to rapid senescence and quality deterioration during postharvest storage. Herein, polyvinyl alcohol/pullulan/ZnO nanoparticles (PVA/PUL/ZnO-Nps) composite films were prepared via solution casting and studied to analyze the effects of ZnO-Nps on the PVA/PUL film matrix. Results revealed that the incorporation of suitable ZnO-Nps effectively reduced the light transmittance, improved water contact angle, water vapor permeability, and mechanical properties of the composite films, as well as enhanced their antimicrobial activity. The composite films were used for the postharvest preservation of A. mongolicum Regel. Results revealed that the PVA/PUL/ZnO-Nps film effectively reduced malondialdehyde accumulation content, superoxide radical generation rate, hydrogen peroxide content, improve the activity of related enzymes, and extend the storage time compared with that of polyethylene films. Wound infection resulting in delayed wound healing and wound deterioration remains a clinical challenge. Recently, multifunctional hydrogel dressing was a promising strategy which has attracted wide attention in preventing wound infection and promoting wound healing. In this study, a hybrid hydrogel made of gelatin (GL), tannic acid (TA), oxidized sodium alginate (OSA), and zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) was prepared mainly by double network cross-linking approach, named tannic acid-gelatin/oxidized sodium alginate/zinc oxide (TA-GL/OSA/ZnO). The composite hydrogels exhibited improved mechanical properties, which provided by TA modified the structure of GL network, Schiff base reaction between GL and OSA, and the strengthening effect of ZnO NPs. Meanwhile, the composite hydrogel showed high antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) (97.8 % ± 0.9 %) and Escherichia coli (E. coli) (96.6 % ± 1.2 %), attributed to the synergistic effect of TA and ZnO NPs. Electrospun nanofibrous membranes, with their unique structural features, can potentially enhance wound healing through controlled delivery of active agents. Here, an innovative porous nanofibrous membrane was developed as a dressing patch with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory functionalities for cutaneous wound healing. Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) and Salvia abrotanoides essential oil (SAEO) were incorporated into sodium alginate, which served as the shell. Poly(ε-caprolactone) was used as the core of coaxial electrospun wound dressing nanofibers (PCL/SA@ZnO/SAEO). With the addition of ZnO NPs and SAEO, the average diameter of nanofibers was 187 ± 51 nm, with improved tensile strength (4.7 ± 0.4 MPa), elongation at break (32.9 ± 2.1), and elastic modulus (21.4 ± 2.0). Concurrent application of ZnO NPs and SAEO increased antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli and promoted the proliferation, attachment, and viability (>90 %) of L929 cells. The PCL/SA@ZnO/SAEO scaffold accelerated the healing time with total wound healing over 14 days in mouse models carrying full-thickness wounds compared to the nanofibrous scaffold without additives. Histopathological examinations demonstrated better tissue regeneration, i.e., enhanced collagen deposition, improved re-epithelialization, and neovascularization, and increased quantity of hair follicles. Moreover, the chicken chorioallantoic membrane assay confirmed the synergistic angiogenic effects of SAEO and ZnO NPs. Industrial and academic chemical pollutants such as Eriochrome Black-T (EBT) and murexide dyes are widely used in academic institution as well as industries, when eluted into rivers, delineate the ill effect on human and aquatic life. Herein, green and ecofriendly synthesis of silver doped-Zinc oxide nanoparticles (Ag/ZnO NPs) and chitosan coated Ag/ZnO nanoparticles (CS/Ag/ZnO NPs) using Bergera koenigii extract to solve environmental issues have been reported for the first time. Spherical and agglomerated particles with crystalline flakes like morphology of Ag/ZnO NPs and CS/Ag/ZnO NPs respectively have been ascertained by Scanning electron morphology (SEM) analyses and XRD. XRD analysis revealed the average crystallite size of 42.16 nm and 48.45 nm for Ag/ZnO NPs with 5 % and 10 % Ag concentration respectively, lesser than crystallite size of 47.394 nm and 52.38 nm for CS-5 % Ag/ZnO NC and CS-10 % Ag/ZnO NC respectively. All the synthesized NPs and NC demonstrated remarkable antibacterial potential against both gram +ve and gram -ve bacteria. Additionally, all the materials showed very high time-dependent photocatalytic degradation activity (>98 %) of EBT and murexide in 12 min. Remarkably, all active nano-catalysts exhibit high durability, and displayed recyclability for >8 cycles. The adsorption of Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) using nanoparticles is gaining significant attention due to the rapid removal or treatment rates. In this study, Silicon Dioxide-Zinc Oxide nanoparticles (SiO 2 -ZnO NPs) were synthesized to adsorb pyrene. Physicochemical characterization of SiO 2 -ZnO NPs showed plasmon resonance at 323 nm, agglomeration, irregular dispersion, and diameters of 90-100 nm. FT-IR analysis identified major functional groups on SiO 2 -ZnO NPs, including alkyne, amine, and isothiocyanate. SiO 2 -ZnO NPs demonstrated significant pyrene adsorption at pH 5, with 10 μg/mL of SiO 2 -ZnO NPs and 2 μg/mL of PAHs, performing better under UV irradiation. Two isotherm models, adsorption isotherm and kinetics adsorption, were used to analyze the PAHs adsorption by SiO 2 -ZnO NPs. Additionally, SiO 2 -ZnO NPs were tested for antibacterial and antibiofilm activities against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. At a concentration of 150 μg/mL, SiO 2 -ZnO NPs produced inhibition zones of 21.57 mm, 20.30 mm, 19.30 mm, and 11.30 mm against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, and Klebsiella pneumoniae, respectively. They also inhibited and disrupted biofilms of Micrococcus luteus and Acinetobacter baumannii. Furthermore, SiO 2 -ZnO NPs exhibited photocatalytic degradation of lead, achieving 68.24% degradation within 5 h of treatment. In this research, a novel active food packaging material was developed by blending starch, chitosan, and plant-based mucilage with zinc oxide nanoparticles. The polymeric nanocomposite film, created by incorporating zinc oxide nanoparticles into the mixture using a straightforward approach, was analyzed for its structural and functional attributes using FTIR, XRD, SEM, and TGA/DSC. These analyses revealed a robust interaction between the polymers' functional groups and the nanoparticles, forming a stable film. The film's mechanical properties, including tensile strength and Young's modulus, were high. It also showed reduced wettability and water solubility, enhancing water resistance. The biodegradability rate was 100 %. Antibacterial tests against Bacillus sp. and Pseudomonas sp. showed significant inhibition zones of 26 mm and 30 mm, respectively, demonstrating strong antibacterial effectiveness. The film's non-target toxicity was assessed through phytotoxicity experiments on Vigna angularis and soil nutrient evaluations, with no negative impact on plant growth or soil health observed. This study employed a precipitation method to synthesize zinc oxide@quaternised chitosan nanoparticles (ZnO@QAC NPs) containing different concentrations of zinc oxide, namely ZnO@QAC-2, ZnO@QAC-4, and ZnO@QAC-6. Subsequently, these nanoparticles were incorporated into matrices consisting of gelatine (Gn) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) separately, which were prepared by casting to form a biodegradable film. We assessed the physicochemical properties of ZnO@QAC NPs and physicochemical characteristics, antioxidant properties, antimicrobial activity and grape preservation efficacy of the film. Compared to the control group, the films showed a reduction in water vapor permeability by >9.38 %, an increase in tensile strength by over 51.95 %, over 70 % scavenging of ABTS free radicals, and good biocompatibility. Additionally, the antimicrobial activity of the films containing ZnO@QAC-6 increased by 37.6 %. In the grape preservation experiment, the weight loss of grapes wrapped in ZnO@QAC-2 film was reduced by 40.13 % on day 15 compared to unwrapped grapes. This study synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) using a novel green approach, with Sida acuta leaf extract as a capping and reducing agent to initiate nucleation and structure formation. The innovation of this study lies in demonstrating the originality of utilizing zinc oxide nanoparticles for antibacterial action, antioxidant potential, and catalytic degradation of Congo red dye. This unique approach harnesses eco-friendly methods to initiate nucleation and structure formation. The synthesized nanoparticles' structure and conformation were characterized using UV-vis (λ max  = 280 nm), X-ray, atomic force microscopy, SEM, HR-TEM and FTIR. The antibacterial activity of the Nps was tested against Pseudomonas sp, Klebsiella sp, Staphylococcus aureus, and E. coli, demonstrating efficacy. The nanoparticles exhibited unique properties, with a crystallite size of 20 nm (XRD), a surface roughness of 2.5 nm (AFM), and a specific surface area of 60 m 2 /g (SEM). A Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) was effectively employed to accurately classify and analyze microscopic images of green-synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles. This research revealed their exceptional antioxidant potential, with an average DPPH scavenging rate of 80% at a concentration of 0.05 mg/mL. Additionally, zeta potential measurements indicated a stable net negative surface charge of approximately -12.2 mV. These quantitative findings highlight the promising applications of green-synthesized ZnO NPs in healthcare, materials science, and environmental remediation. The ZnO nanoparticles exhibited catalytic capabilities for dye degradation, and the degradation rate was determined using UV spectroscopy. In the study, Poly Vinyl Alcohol (PVA) films engineered with the nanoparticles and essential oils have been developed as efficient alternative to the currently used food packaging materials. For this, impact of cinnamon essential oil (CEO), on the metabolomic profile of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Aspergillus flavus was analysed. Subsequently, PVA based nanocomposite films CEO, zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs), and nanocellulose (NC) were synthesised and characterized by FT-IR analysis. By the GC-MS analysis. The presence of ZnONPs enhanced the release of cinnamaldehyde from 31.16 to 44.23 and further enhancement to 71.82 was seen the presence of nanocellulose. The incorporation of NPs was found to enhance the hydrodynamic and mechanical properties of the prepared films. The final developed films, PZNCCEO, showed the least values for WHC and MC which were 56.31 ± 2.12 % and 13.30 ± 0 % respectively. Antimicrobial efficacy could also be demonstrated through the observation on changes in the morphological features of treated S. aureus and E. coli by the FE-SEM. The fruit Pyrus communis, owing to its presence of phenolics and flavonoids, was chosen for its nanoparticle's reducing and stabilizing properties. Furthermore, the zinc metal may be nano-absorbed by the human body. As a result, the study involves synthesizing zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) from P. communis fruit extract using the green method. The synthesized nanoparticle was examined with a UV-visible spectrophotometer, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS). When absorption studies were performed with a UV-visible spectrophotometer, the nanoparticle exhibited a blue shift. The FTIR spectrum revealed the molecular groups present in both the fruit extract and metal. In the SEM analysis, the ZnO NPs appeared as spherical particles, agglomerated together, and of nano-size. The larger size of the ZnO NPs in DLS can be attributed to their ability to absorb water. After characterization, nanoparticles were tested for anti-diabetic (α-amylase and yeast glucose uptake activity) and anti-microbial properties. The α-amylase inhibition percentage was 46.46 ± 0.15% for 100 μg/mL, which was comparable to the acarbose inhibition percentage of 50.58 ± 0.67% at the same concentration. The yeast glucose uptake activity was 64.24 ± 0.80% at 20 mM glucose concentration, which was comparable to the standard of 78.03 ± 0.80. The design and fabrication of synergistic hybrid antibacterial materials is a promising approach for achieving effective sterilization while compensating for the deficiency of a single component. Despite being highly effective biocidal components, the poor UV light stability of some N-halamines limits their applications. This study was conducted to address this issue by the rational integration of cyclic N-halamine precursor (PGHAPA) with microwaved zinc oxide (MWPPy-ZnO) nanoparticles via covalent bonds and the preparation of cellulose nanofibrils based antibacterial composite films after chlorination (CNF/MWPPy-ZnO-PGHAPA-Cl). The proposed films offered tight lamellar structure, considerable thermal stability and better mechanical properties. The results from the FT-IR and XPS experiments provided the evidence of chemical reactions among the PGHAPA, MWPPy-ZnO, and CNF film. Notably, the CNF/MWPPy-ZnO-PGHAPA-Cl films showed improved UV stability with a chlorine content of up to 0.16 % after 24 h of irradiation, which was much greater than that of the CNF/PGHAPA-Cl films. To mitigate environmental impacts in food preservation, the development of a multifunctional membrane for packaging is of importance. In this study, we have successfully fabricated a nanofibrous membrane using an eco-friendly electrospinning technique, comprising polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), chitosan (CS), and tannic acid (TA). The resulting nanofibrous membranes were crosslinked with glutaraldehyde (GA) and surface modified with ZnO. Our findings demonstrate that the crosslinking process enhances water resistance, reduces water vapor permeability, improves tensile strength (from 3 to 18 MPa), and enhances thermal stability (increasing decomposition temperature from 225 °C to 310 °C). Furthermore, the incorporation of TA and ZnO provides antioxidant properties to the membrane, effectively preventing food decomposition caused by UV-induced oxidation. Additionally, CS, TA, and ZnO synergistically exhibit a remarkable antibacterial effect with a bacteriostasis rate exceeding 99.9 %. The strawberry fresh-keeping experiment further confirms that our developed membrane significantly extends shelf life by up to 6 days. Moreover, cytotoxicity assays confirm the non-toxic nature of these membranes. The innovative significance of this study lies in proposing a robust GA-PVA/CS/TA@ZnO nanofibrous membrane with excellent mechanical properties, biocompatibility, and multiple functionalities including antibacterial, anti-ultraviolet, and anti-oxidation capabilities. The interaction of green zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) with bacterial strains are still scarcely reported. This work was conducted to study the green-one-pot-synthesized ZnO NPs from the Aloe Vulgarize (AV) leaf peel extract assisted with different sonication techniques followed by the physicochemical, biological activities and molecular docking studies. The NPs structure was analyzed using FTIR, UV-vis and EDX. The morphology, particle size and crystallinity of ZnO NPs were identified using FESEM and XRD. It was found that the formed flower-like structure with sharp edge and fine size of particulates in ZnO NPs/AV could enhance the bacterial inhibition. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for all the tested bacterial strains is at 3.125 µg/ml and the bacterial growth curve are dependent on the ZnO NPs dosage. The results of disc diffusion revealed that the ZnO NPs/AV possess better antibacterial effect with bigger ZOI due to the presence of AV active ingredient. The molecular docking between active ingredients of AV in the NPs with the protein of IFCM and 1MWU revealed that low binding energy (E bind  = -6.56 kcal/mol and -8.99 kcal/mol, respectively) attributes to the excessive hydrogen bond from AV that highly influenced their interaction with the amino acid of the selected proteins. Finally, the cytotoxicity test on the biosynthesized ZnO NPs with concentration below 20 µg/ml are found nontoxic on the HDF cell. A strategy for cancer treatment was implemented, based on chemo-photodynamic therapy, utilizing a novel formulation, low-cost system called Cas-ZnONPs. This system consisted of the incorporation of Casiopeina III-ia (CasIII-ia), a hydrophilic copper coordination compound with well-documented anti-neoplastic activity, on Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) with apoptotic activity and lipophilicity, allowing them to permeate biological barriers. Additionally, ZnONPs exhibited fluorescence, with emission at different wavelengths depending on their agglomeration and enabling real-time tracking biodistribution. Also, ZnONPs served as a sensitizer, generating reactive oxygen species (ROS) in situ. In in vitro studies on HeLa and MDA-MB-231 cell lines, a synergistic effect was observed with the impregnated CasIII-ia on ZnONPs. The anticancer activity had an increase in cellular inhibition, depending on the dose of exposure to UV-vis irradiation. In in vivo studies utilized zebrafish models for xenotransplanting stained MDA-MB-231 cells and testing the effectiveness of Cas-ZnONPs treatment. The treatment successfully eliminated cancer cells, both when combined with Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) and when used alone. Listeria monocytogenes is a concerning foodborne pathogen incriminated in soft cheese and meat-related outbreaks, highlighting the significance of applying alternative techniques to control its growth in food. In the current study, eco-friendly zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) were synthesized using Rosmarinus officinalis, Punica granatum, and Origanum marjoram extracts individually. The antimicrobial efficacy of the prepared ZnO-NPs against L. monocytogenes was assessed using the agar well diffusion technique. Data indicated that ZnO-NPs prepared using Origanum marjoram were the most effective; therefore, they were used for the preparation of gelatin-based bionanocomposite coatings. Furthermore, the antimicrobial efficacy of the prepared gelatin-based bionanocomposite coatings containing eco-friendly ZnO-NPs was evaluated against L. monocytogenes in Talaga cheese (an Egyptian soft cheese) and camel meat during refrigerated storage at 4 ± 1 o C. Talaga cheese and camel meat were inoculated with L. monocytogenes, then coated with gelatin (G), gelatin with ZnO-NPs 1% (G/ZnO-NPs 1%), and gelatin with ZnO-NPs 2% (G/ZnO-NPs 2%). Microbiological examination showed that the G/ZnO-NPs 2% coating reduced L. monocytogenes count in the coated Talaga cheese and camel meat by 2.76 ± 0.19 and 2.36 ± 0.51 log CFU/g, respectively, by the end of the storage period. Moreover, G/ZnO-NPs coatings controlled pH changes, reduced water losses, and improved the sensory characteristics of Talaga cheese and camel meat, thereby extending their shelf life. The skin is the outermost part of the body. Although susceptible to damage, the skin is in direct contact with the external environment. Wound dressing is a clinical method that plays a vital role in wound healing. Herein, we developed an antibacterial wound dressing using alginate as the basic material. The dressing was prepared using the solvent casting method, which was used to analyze the effects of adding CaP and ZnO on its structural, optical, and antibacterial properties. Adding CaP exhibited strong but stiff mechanical properties, unlike the CaP/ZnO, which possessed high strength and elasticity. The optical properties of sample S2 did not have a considerable impact. By contrast, the addition of ZnO to sample S3 notably increases the wavelength and absorption value. The diameter of the inhibition zone for S. aureus bacteria exhibited a successive increase in its antibacterial properties, and sample S3 exhibited the highest value. Thus, sample S3 is the most promising wound dressing concerning speeding up the wound healing process because it possesses the most optimal mechanical, optical, and antibacterial properties. This research aimed to produce and analyze zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZNPs) loaded with linalool (LZNPs), and to evaluate their in vitro and in vivo efficacy through targeting the inflammation and oxidative stress. LZNPs were synthesized using an ethanolic solution of polyvinyl alcohol. The Malstat technique was used to evaluate the effectiveness of LZNPs against both sensitive and resistant strains of Plasmosium falciparum. In vivo effects of ZNPs and LZNPs on parasite growth suppression, survival rate, oxidative stress markers, antioxidant genes, and gene and protein levels of inflammatory cytokines were evaluated by Real-time PCR and Western blot techniques. The results indicated that LZNPs demonstrated noteworthy (P < 0.001) antiplasmodial activity against both susceptible and resistant strains of P. falciparum. P. berghei NK65 strain-infected mice treated with the ZNPs and LZNPs at doses of 5-15 mg/kg notably (p < 0.001) increased the survival rates and parasite growth suppression. LZNPs at 5-15 mg/kg demonstrated a significant (p < 0.001) decrease in oxidative stress markers, increased the expression level of antioxidant genes, and reduced the gene and protein expression level of inflammatory cytokines. The current experimental study demonstrated the potent in vitro antiplasmodial activity of LZNPs against chloroquine-resistant and sensitive strains of P. falciparum compared to ZNPs alone. Additionally, the study identified the potential benefits of this nanocomposite in suppressing the parasite and extending the survival rate in mice infected with P. berghei by targeting inflammation and oxidative stress. It also showed minimal toxicity in liver and kidney function in healthy mice. This study explored the structure and performance of starch-based antibacterial films reinforced with black tea cellulose nanocrystals (BT-CNCs). The optimal addition amount of BT-CNCs is 5 % (w/w Starch). This nanocrystal-infused film, incorporating chitosan (CS), ε-polylysine (ε-PL), and zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONP) as antibacterial agents, exhibited a smooth, continuous surface. The addition of BT-CNCs and antibacterial agents did not change the group characteristic peaks of the film, but changed the crystallinity slightly. The films, namely St, St/CNCs, St/CNCs/CS, and St/CNCs/ε-P, maintained high light transmittance (above 80 %), except for the St/CNCs/ZnONP film, which effectively shielded UV radiation. The combined use of antibacterial agents and BT-CNCs enhanced the water and oxygen barrier properties of the film. Notably, the St/CNCs/CS film exhibited the lowest solubility (17.74 % ± 0.36) and the highest tensile strength (14.23 ± 0.16 MPa). The antibacterial efficacy of the films decreased in the order of St/CNCs/ZnONP, St/CNCs/ε-PL, and St/CNCs/CS, with a more pronounced inhibitory effect on E. coli compared to S. aureus. Background: Despite cisplatin's long history as a cornerstone in cancer therapy, both acquired chemoresistance and significant impacts on healthy tissues limit its use. Hepatotoxicity is one of its side effects. Adjunct therapies have shown promise in not only attenuating liver damage caused by cisplatin but also in enhancing the efficacy of chemotherapy. In this context, a new quaternary ammonium chitosan Schiff base (QACSB) was synthesized and applied as an encapsulating agent for the in-situ synthesis of QACSB-ZnO nanocomposite., Material and Methods: Thirty male albino rats were classified into Group 1 (control) distilled water, Group 2 (Cisplatin-treated) (12 mg/kg, i.p), and Group 3 (QACSB-ZnO NCs/cisplatin-treated) (150 mg/kg/day QACSB-ZnO NCs, i.p) for 14 days + a single dose of cisplatin. Liver functions, tissue TNF-α, MDA, and GSH were measured as well as histopathological and immunohistochemical studies were performed., Results: The QACSB-ZnO NCs significantly restore liver functions, tissue TNF-α, MDA, and GSH levels (p < 0.001). Histopathological examination showed patchy necrosis in the cisplatin-treated group versus other groups. Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) have garnered significant attention in biological applications due to their known antioxidant properties. However, their potential impact on assisted reproduction techniques remains largely unexplored, particularly in the context of oocyte quality maintenance within in vitro culture systems, where free radicals can exert detrimental effects. This study investigated the effects of incorporating ZnO-NPs to in vitro maturation (IVM) media on the developmental, cryosurvival, and metabolic profiles of bovine embryos. Three concentrations of ZnO-NPs (0, 1.0, and 1.5 μg/mL) were evaluated. We observed, for the first time, that the inclusion of ZnO-NPs at a concentration of 1.0 μg/mL led to a significant increase in the number of embryonic cells (p < 0.05) accompanied by a reduction in reactive oxygen species production (p < 0.05). Notably, ZnO-NPs did not alter embryonic development, cryosurvival rates, or mitochondrial viability. These findings suggested that ZnO-NPs has antioxidant properties and are compatible with bovine oocytes. Herein, innovative biocides are designed for the treatment of Trichinella spiralis muscle larvae (ML) and adult worms. Samarium-doped ZnO nanorods (Sm-doped ZnO) are stabilized onto the laminar structure of cuttlefish bone (CB) matrix and adorned by either Ag NPs or cobalt phthalocyanine (CoPc) species. Physicochemical characteristics of such nanocomposites are scrutinised. Adorning of Sm-doped ZnO/CB with Ag NPs shortens rod-like shaped Sm-doped ZnO nanoparticles and accrues them, developing large-sized detached patches over CB moiety. Meanwhile, adorning of Sm-doped ZnO/CB by CoPc species degenerates CB lamellae forming semi-rounded platelets and encourages invading of Sm-doped ZnO nanorods deeply inside gallery spacings of CB. Both nanocomposites possess advanced parasiticidal activity, displaying quite intoxication for ML and adult worms (≥88% mortality) within an incubation period of <48 h at concentrations around 200 μg/ml. CoPc@Sm-doped ZnO/CB nanocomposite exhibits faster killing efficiency of adult worms than that of Ag@Sm-doped ZnO/CB at a concentration of ∼75 μg/ml showing entire destruction of parasite after 24 h incubation with the former nanocomposite and just 60% worm mortality after 36 h exposure to the later one. Morphological studies of the treated ML and adult worms show that CoPc@Sm-doped ZnO/CB exhibits a destructive impact on the parasite body, creating featureless and sloughed fragments enriched with intensive vacuoles. Hydrogels with novel antimicrobial properties and accelerated wound healing are of great interest in the field of wound dressings because they not only prevent bacterial infections but also fulfill the essential needs of wound healing. In this study, multifunctional hydrogel dressings consisting of black phosphorus nanosheets(BPNS) surface-modified Zinc oxide (BP@ZnO heterojunction) based on gelatin (Gel), sodium alginate (SA), glutamine transferase (mTG), and calcium ions with a three-dimensional crosslinked network were prepared. The BP@ZnO-Gel/SA hydrogel has excellent mechanical properties, hemocompatibility (hemolysis rate: 3.29 %), swelling rate(832.8 ± 19.2 %), cytocompatibility, photothermal and photodynamic antibacterial properties(Sterilization rate: 96.4 ± 3.3 %). When PBAT used as film, stability deteriorates under sunlight exposure, the poor barrier and antibacterial properties are also limiting its application. In this work, lignin-ZnO nanoparticles were prepared by hydrothermal method, as additives to fill the PBAT matrix. In addition, PBAT-lignin-ZnO composite films were successfully prepared by melting and hot-pressing method. It is found that lignin could well dispersed the ZnO when its implantation into PBAT films, and lignin-ZnO not only maintaining tensile strength and thermal stability, but also could prompt PBAT's crystallinity. Especially, P-L-ZnO-2 composite films have good photostability. After 60 h aging, it can still maintain good molecular weight, chemical structure and mechanical properties. Besides, these composite films have improved hydrophobicity, barrier and antibacterial properties, could prevent mildew and significantly reduce the weight loss rate, color difference and hardness changes of strawberries during storage. The development of intelligently released and environmentally safe nanocarriers not only aligns with the sustainable agricultural strategy but also offers a potential solution for controlling severe soil-borne bacterial diseases. Herein, the core-shell structured nanocarrier loaded with honokiol bactericide (honokiol@ZnO-ZIF-8) was synthesized via a one-pot method for the targeted control of Ralstonia solanacearum, the causative agent of tobacco bacterial wilt disease. Results indicated that honokiol@ZnO-ZIF-8 nanoparticles induced bacterial cell membrane and DNA damage through the production of excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS), thereby reducing bacterial cell viability and ultimately leading to bacterial death. Additionally, the dissociation mechanism of the nanocarriers was elucidated for the first time through thermodynamic computational simulation. The nanocarriers dissociate primarily due to H + attacking the N atom on imidazole, causing the rupture of the Zn-N bond under acidic conditions and at room temperature. Furthermore, honokiol@ZnO-ZIF-8 exhibited potent inhibitory effects against other prominent Solanaceae pathogenic bacteria (Pseudomonas syringae pv. tabaci), demonstrating its broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. Biosafety assessment results indicated that honokiol@ZnO-ZIF-8 exhibited non-phytotoxicity towards tobacco and tomato plants, with its predominant accumulation in the roots and no translocation to aboveground tissues within a short period. This study provides potential application value for the intelligent release of green pesticides. Considering these pleiotropic effects, we hypothesized that ZON modulates multiple cellular pathways associated with necroptosis, inflammation, and renal fibrosis, which are involved in progressive loss of renal function., Aim: This study evaluated the effect of ZON on renal function, leading to the alleviation of DN in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced type 1 diabetic Wistar rats and proposed a probable mechanism for its activity., Methods: Wistar rats (n = 6/group) were used as healthy controls, diabetic controls, diabetic rats treated with ZON (1, 3, and 10 mg/kg), and insulin controls. Development of renewable and biodegradable plastics with good properties, such as the gas barrier, UV-shielding, solvent resistance, and antibacterial activity, remains a challenge. Herein, cellulose/ZnO based bioplastics were fabricated by dissolving cellulose carbamate in an aqueous solution of NaOH/Zn(OH) 4 2- , followed by coagulation in aqueous Na 2 SO 4 solution, and subsequent hot-pressing. The carbamate groups detached from cellulose, and ZnO which transformed from cosolvent to nanofiller was uniformly immobilized in the cellulose matrix during the dissolution/regeneration process. The appropriate addition of ZnO (below 10.67 wt%) not only improved the mechanical properties but also enhanced the water and oxygen barrier properties of the material. Additionally, our cellulose/ZnO based bioplastic demonstrated excellent UV-blocking capabilities, increased water contact angle, and enhanced antibacterial activity against S. aureus and E. coli, deriving from the incorporation of ZnO nanoparticles. Furthermore, the material exhibited resistance to organic solvents such as acetone, THF, and toluene. Biodegradable polylactic acid (PLA)/nano‑zinc oxide (ZnO)/additives non-woven slices were prepared by melt blending method. The effects of antibacterial agent nano-ZnO, antioxidant pentaerythrityl tetrakis-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-propionate (1010), and chain extender multi-functional epoxy (ADR), on the melt flow rate, mechanical properties, thermal stabilities and micromorphology of the slices were investigated. The melt flow rate decreased from 26.94 g/10 min to 17.76 g/10 min, and the tensile strength increased from 10.518 MPa to 30.427 MPa with the increase of nano-ZnO and additives content. The slices were further spunbonded. The wettability and antibacterial properties of PLA/nano-ZnO/additives antibacterial non-wovens were studied, and the antibacterial action mechanism was clarified. The results showed that the biodegradable PLA/nano-ZnO/additives antibacterial non-wovens were prepared continuously successfully. The prepared non-woven fabrics exhibited good hydrophobicity and antibacterial properties. The mechanism study shows that zinc ion produced by nano-ZnO and photocatalytic reaction make the fabrics have good antibacterial activity at low nano-ZnO content. A dynamic chitosan-based ZnO nanocomposite (NC) was fabricated via a cost-effective formulation and an eco-friendly procedure utilizing Cissus quadrangularis (CQ) plant extract. This study investigates the antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, together with the cytocompatibility aspects of chitosan-incorporated ZnO nanocomposite (CS-ZnO/CQE). The formation and structural morphology of the nanocomposites were examined using FTIR, UV-Vis, XRD, XPS, BET, TGA, SEM, and TEM techniques. The antibacterial test results demonstrated the greatest inhibitory zone diameter against S. aureus (19 ± 1.00 mm) and E. coli (17 ± 1.05 mm), assessed through agar well diffusion method. Also, the composite exhibited a DPPH inhibition rate of 78.7 ± 0.34 %, indicating its high effectiveness in neutralizing free radicals. In addition, the nanocomposite exhibited less toxicity towards human erythrocytes, HDF and HEK-293 cells as a result of the biocompatibility exhibited by CS, ZnO, and CQ plant extract. Likewise, it has exceptional cell migratory capacity and possesses biodegradability factors. Chitosan-based nanocomposites (CS NCs) are gaining considerable attention as multifaceted antifungal agents. This study investigated the antifungal activity of NCs against two phytopathogenic strains: Fusarium solani (F. solani) and Alternaria solani (A. solani). Dynamic and electrophoretic light scattering techniques revealed their size range (60-170 nm) and cationic nature, as indicated by the positive zeta potential values (from +16 to +22 mV). Transmission electron microscopy revealed the morphology of the NCs as agglomerates formed between the chitosan and oxide components. X-ray diffraction patterns confirmed crystalline structures with specific peaks indicating their constituents. Antifungal assessments using the agar diffusion technique demonstrated significant inhibitory effects of the NCs on both fungal strains (1.5 to 4-fold), surpassing the performance of the positive control, nystatin. Notably, the NCs exhibited superior antifungal potency, with CS-ZnO NCs being the most effective. A. solani was the most sensitive strain to the studied agents. Furthermore, the tested NCs induced oxidative stress in fungal cells, which elevated stress biomarker levels, such as superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and protein carbonyl content (PCC), 2.5 and 6-fold for the most active CS-CuO in F. solani respectively. Additionally, they triggered membrane lipid peroxidation up to 3-fold higher compared to control, a process that potentially compromises membrane integrity. Laurdan fluorescence spectroscopy highlighted alterations in the molecular organization of fungal cell membranes induced by the NCs. CS-CuO NCs induced a membrane rigidifying effect, while CS-SiO 2 and CS-ZnO could rigidify membranes in A. solani and fluidize them in F. solani. In summary, this study provides an in-depth understanding of the interactions of CS-based NCs with two fungal strains, showing their antifungal activity and offering insights into their mechanisms of action. This study aims to develop pH-sensitive and controlled release of ciprofloxacin from ciprofloxacin-loaded grafted chitosan-coated zinc oxide nanoparticles (Cip@Gchit/Zn-NPs) for the treatment of bacterial infections in the human colon. For this aim, first, the chitosan-g-poly(itaconic acid) [Chit-g-poly (Itac)] was synthesized via grafting of itaconic acid onto chitosan in the presence of cerium ammonium nitrate (CAN) under an inert atmosphere using conventional methods, while zinc oxide nanoparticles (Zn-NPs) were prepared via sol-gel technique. Characterization of the synthesized Cip@Gchit/Zn-NPs was analyzed using XRD, FT-IR, SEM, TGA, and zeta potential analysis. The antibacterial efficacy of Cip@Gchit/Zn-NPs against three pathogenic bacteria, namely Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus, was superior to that of tetracycline reference drugs, as evidenced by larger inhibition zones. Cytotoxicity assessment of Cip@Gchit/Zn-NPs on the human chondrocyte cell line C28/I2 via MTT assay revealed 100 % cell viability at a concentration of 500 μg/mL. The loading efficiency of ciprofloxacin into Gchit/Zn-NPs was evaluated at various ratios, demonstrating lower loading efficiency; however, sustained release of ciprofloxacin from Cip@Gchit/Zn-NPs was excellent, with 98.13 % release observed at pH 7.2 over 10 h. Here, we reported the process for the production of Pd/CuO/ZnO nanocomposite utilizing alkaline protease from Phalaris minor seed extract, which is a unique, effective biogenic approach. Alkaline protease performed a crucial part in the reduction, capping and stabilization of Pd/CuO/ZnO nanocomposites. A series of physicochemical techniques were used to inquire the formation, size, shape and crystalline nature of Pd/CuO/ZnO nanocomposites. The notable performance of the synthesized nanocomposite as a photocatalyst and an antibacterial disinfectant was astonishing. The Pd/CuO/ZnO nanocrystals showed considerable photocatalytic activity by eliminating 99 % of the methylene blue (MB) in <30 min of exposure. After three test cycles, the nanocatalyst demonstrated exceptional reliability as a photocatalyst. The nanocomposite was also discovered to be an effective antibacterial agent, with zones of inhibitory activity for Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria of 30(±0.2), 27(±0.3), 22(±0.2), and 21(±0.3) mm, respectively, in both light and dark conditions. Moreover, the Pd/CuO/ZnO nanocomposites showed strong antioxidant activity by efficiently scavenging 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals. The photocatalytic, antibacterial and antioxidative performance of Pd, CuO, ZnO, and CuO/ZnO were also assessed for the sake of comparison. Herein, carvacrol (CRV) and modified cellulose nanocrystal-zinc oxide (CNC-ZnO) were incorporated into a poly (lactic acid) (PLA) matrix to prepare a PLA-based composite film using a simple solution casting method to achieve antimicrobial effects for application in antimicrobial food packaging. Compared with films obtained from neat PLA, the PLA@CRV 20% @CNC-ZnO 3% composite film shows better performance in terms of mechanical properties, ultraviolet (UV) blocking, and antimicrobial effects. The PLA composites containing CRV and 3 wt% CNC-ZnO blends exhibit improved tensile strength (21.8 MPa) and elongation at break (403.1 %) as well as excellent UV resistance. In particular, CRV and the CNC-ZnO hybrid endow the obtained PLA composite films with a synergistic antibacterial effect, resulting in good antibacterial properties for microbes, such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Aspergillus niger. The diameters of the inhibition zone of the PLA@CRV 20% @CNC-ZnO 3% composite films against E. coli, S. aureus, and A. niger were 4.9, 5.0, and 3.4 cm, respectively. Appling the PLA@CRV 20% @CNC-ZnO 3% composite film as an antibacterial food packaging material, the storage period for strawberries was considerably extended. Chronic wounds represent silent epidemic affecting a large portion of the world population, especially the elders; in this context, the development of advanced bioactive dressings is imperative to accelerate wound healing process, while contrasting or preventing infections. The aim of the present work was to provide a deep characterization of the functional and biopharmaceutical properties of a sustainable thin and flexible films, composed of whey proteins alone (WPI) and added with nanostructured zinc oxide (WPZ) and intended for the management of chronic wounds. The potential of whey proteins-based films as wound dressings has been confirmed by their wettability, hydration properties, elastic behavior upon hydration, biodegradation propensity and, when added with nanostructured zinc oxide, antibacterial efficacy against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, i.e. Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. In-vitro experiments, performed on normal human dermal fibroblasts, confirmed film cytocompatibility, also revealing the possible role of Zn 2+ ions in promoting fibroblast proliferation. Finally, in-vivo studies on rat model confirmed film suitability to act as wound dressing, since able to ensure a regular healing process while providing effective protection from infections. Phase change microcapsules are known for their latent heat storage capability. However, the efficient absorption and utilization of solar energy by these microcapsules remains a significant challenge. In this study, we successfully prepared composite phase change microcapsules containing ZnO-Ag nanospheres, chitosan, and paraffin. These microcapsules demonstrated remarkable photothermal conversion efficiency. ZnO was found to effectively absorb ultraviolet light, while the plasmonic resonance of Ag was utilized to absorb and make use of light energy in the visible region. Moreover, due to the synergistic absorption and reflection of electromagnetic waves by ZnO-Ag nanoparticles and graphene, the well-dispersed chitosan/ZnO-Ag composite microcapsules and graphene in the fabric coating demonstrated exceptional electromagnetic shielding performance. In addition, the coated fabric based on composite microcapsules exhibited excellent antibacterial properties, effectively inhibiting the growth of bacteria such as S. aureus and E. coli. This antibacterial performance adds to their potential applications in various fields. This study aimed to produce linalool loaded zinc oxide nanocomposite (LZNPs) and assess its in vitro and in vivo antileishmanial effects against Leishmania major. LZNPs was produced through the synthesis of an ethanolic solution containing polyvinyl alcohol. The average size of LZNPs was determined to be 105 nm. The findings indicated that LZNPs displayed significant (p < 0.01) antileishmanial effects on promastigotes and amastigotes. Following exposure of promastigotes to LZNPs, there was a notable rise in the percentage of early and late apoptotic cells from 9.0 to 57.2 %. The gene expression levels of iNOS, IFN-γ, and TNF-α in macrophages were upregulated in a dose-dependent approach following exposure to LZNPs. LZNPs alone and in conjunction with glucantime (Glu) resulted in a reduction in the diameter and parasite load of CL lesions in infected mice. Treatment of the CL-infected mice with LZNPs at 25 and 50 mg/kg mainly in combination with Glu-reduced the tissue level of malondialdehyde (MDA), increased both gene and protein expression of the antioxidant enzymes as well as raised the expression level of IFN-γ and IL-12 cytokines, whereas caused a significant reduction in the expression level of IL-4. The present study shows that LZNPs has potent antileishmanial effects and controls CL in a mice model through its antioxidant and immunomodulatory properties. Zinc oxide (ZnO) has attracted a substantial interest in cancer research owing to their promising utility in cancer imaging and therapy. This study aimed to synthesized ZnO nanoflowers coated with albumin to actively target and the inhibit skin melanoma cells. We synthesized bovine serum albumin (BSA)-coated ZnO nanoflowers (BSA@ZnO NFs) and evaluated it's in vitro and in vivo therapeutic efficacy for skin cancer cells. BSA@ZnO NFs were prepared via single-step reduction method in the presence of plant extract (Heliotropium indicum) act as a capping agent, and further the successful fabrication was established by various physico-chemical characterizations, such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infra-red (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and x-rays diffraction (XRD) analysis. The fabricated BSA@ZnO NFs appeared flower like with multiple cone-shaped wings and average hydration size of 220.8 ± 12.6 nm. Further, BSA@ZnO NFs showed enhanced cellular uptake and cytocidal effects against skin cancer cells by inhibiting their growth via oxidative stress compared uncoated ZnO NFs. Moreover, BSA@ZnO NFs showed enhance biosafety, blood circulation time, tumor accumulation and in vivo tumor growth inhibition compared to ZnO NFs. In this study, a double network (DN) hydrogel was synthesized using poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA) and sodium alginate (SA), incorporating copper-doped mesoporous silica nanospheres (Cu-MSNs) and zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs). The blending of PEGDA and SA (PS) facilitates the double network and improves the less porous microstructure of pure PEGDA hydrogel. Furthermore, the incorporation of ZnO NPs and Cu-MSNs into the hydrogel network (PS@ZnO/Cu-MSNs) improved the mechanical properties of the hydrogel (Compressive strength = ⁓153 kPa and Young's modulus = ⁓ 1.66 kPa) when compared to PS hydrogel alone (Compressive strength = ⁓ 103 kPa and Young's modulus = ⁓ 0.95 kPa). In addition, the PS@ZnO/Cu-MSNs composite hydrogel showed antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Importantly, the PS@ZnO/Cu-MSNs hydrogel demonstrated excellent biocompatibility, enhanced MC3T3-E1 cell adhesion, proliferation, and significant early-stage osteoblastic differentiation, as evidenced by increased alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and improved calcium mineralization, as evidenced by increased alizarin red staining (ARS) activities. Calcium silicate-based cement (CSC) is a commonly used material in endodontic treatment. However, it has limited antibacterial activity, especially for cases involving primary infections. Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) are recognized for their potential in biomedical applications due to their antibacterial properties and ability to reduce inflammation. This study aims to optimize CSC by incorporating ZnO-NPs to maintain its physical properties, enhance its antibacterial activity, and reduce the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. ZnO-NPs were integrated into a commercial CSC (Endocem MTA) at 1 wt% (CSZ1) or 3 wt% (CSZ3). Setting time, compressive strength, and X-ray diffraction were then measured. In addition, pH, calcium ion release, and zinc ion release were measured for 7 days. Antibacterial activity against Enterococcus faecalis and viability of murine macrophages (RAW264.7) were determined using colorimetric assays. Gene expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in lipopolysaccharide induced RAW264.7 were evaluated using quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Results were compared to an unmodified CSC group. In the CSZ3 group, there was a significant increase of approximately 12% in setting time and a reduction of about 36.4% in compressive strength compared to the control and CSZ1 groups. The presence of ZnO-NPs was detected in both CSZ1 and CSZ3. Both CSC and CSZ1 groups maintained an alkaline pH and released calcium ions, while zinc ions were significantly released in the CSZ1 group. Additionally, CSZ1 showed a 1.8-fold reduction of bacterial activity and exhibited around 85% reduction in colony-forming units compared to the CSC group. Furthermore, the CSZ1 group showed a more than 39% reduction in pro-inflammatory cytokine levels compared to the CSC group. This study aims to develop polylactic acid (PLA)-based packaging films with imparted antimicrobial properties and enhanced physical characteristics by evaluating the likely interaction among multiple film components. For this purpose; epoxidized soybean oil (ES) (20 %) serves as a plasticizer, spruce resin (SR) (15 %) functions as both a plasticizer and antimicrobial agent, ZnO (0.1 %) acts as a nanofiller and antimicrobial, and finally thyme and clove essential oil mixture (5 % and 10 %) serves as an antimicrobial agent were incorporated to PLA film formulation. Composite materials were prepared by the solvent casting method using methylene chloride as the solvent. The developed films were characterized in terms of physical, mechanical, thermal, and antimicrobial properties. Tensile strength (59 MPa) and elastic modulus (2625 MPa) of the neat PLA film gradually decreased to 8.99 MPa and 725.4 MPa, respectively, with the sequential addition of all components, indicating enhanced flexibility. SR, ZnO, and EOs significantly imparted antimicrobial property to the PLA film as demonstrated by the inhibition zone of 13.83 mm and 15.67 mm observed for E. coli and S. aureus, respectively. The barrier properties of the films were enhanced by the addition of SR and ZnO; however, EOs increased the water vapor permeability from 0.080 to 0.090 g.mm/m 2 .day.kPa compared to the neat PLA film. Principal component and hierarchical cluster analysis enabled the successful discrimination of the films, demonstrating how the film properties are affected by the film components. In this work, a multifunctional preservative film of ZnO/carboxymethyl starch/chitosan (ZnO/CMS/CS) with the unique "Steel Wire Mesh" structure is fabricated by the chemical crosslinked of ZnO NPs, CMS and CS. Unlike traditional nano-filled polymer film, the formation of the "Steel Wire Mesh" structure of ZnO/CMS/CS film is based on the synergistic effect of ZnO NPs filled CMS/CS and the coordination crosslinked between CMS/CS and Zn 2+ derived from ZnO NPs. Thanks to the "Steel Wire Mesh" structure, the tensile strength and water vapor barrier of 2.5ZnO/10CMS/CS film are 2.47 and 1.73 times than that of CS film, respectively. Furthermore, the transmittance of 2.5ZnO/10CMS/CS film during antifogging test is close to 89 %, confirming its excellent antifogging effects. And the 2.5ZnO/10CMS/CS film also exhibits excellent long-acting antibacterial activity (up to 202 h), so it can maintain the freshness and appearance of strawberries at least 5 days. More importantly, the 2.5ZnO/10CMS/CS film is sensitive to humidity changes, which achieves real-time humidity monitoring of the fruit storage environment. Conventional Ti-based implants are vulnerable to postsurgical infection and improving the antibacterial efficiency without compromising the osteogenic ability is one of the key issues in bone implant design. Although zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods grown on Ti substrates hydrothermally can improve the antibacterial properties, but cannot meet the stringent requirements of bone implants, as rapid degradation of ZnO and uncontrolled leaching of Zn 2+ are detrimental to peri-implant cells and tissues. To solve these problems, a lattice-damage-free method is adopted to modify the ZnO nanorods with thin calcium phosphate (CaP) shells. The Ca and P ions from the CaP shells diffuse thermally into the ZnO lattice to prevent the ZnO nanorods from rapid degradation and ensure the sustained release of Zn 2+ ions as well. Furthermore, the designed heterostructural nanorods not only induce the osteogenic performances of MC3T3-E1 cells but also exhibit excellent antibacterial ability against S. aureus and E. coli bacteria via physical penetration. In vivo studies also reveal that hybrid Ti-ZnO@CaP5 can not only eradicates bacteria in contact, but also provides sufficient biocompatibility without causing excessive inflammation response. Our study provides insights into the design of multifunctional biomaterials for bone implants. The target of the study is to modify the efficiency of Molnupiravir-drug (MOL) for COVID-19 therapy via the rearrangement of the building engineering of MOL-drug by loading it with self-assembly biomolecules nanoparticles (NPs) of pycnogenol (Pyc) and cellulose (CNC) which are decorated by zinc oxide nanoparticles. The synthesis and characterization of the modified drug are performing successfully, the loading and release process of the MOL drug on a nano surface is measured by UV-Vis spectroscopy under room temperature and different pH. The release efficiency of the MOL drug is calculated to be 65% (pH 6.8) and 69% (pH 7.4). The modified MOL drug displays 71% (pH 6.8) and 78% (pH 7.4) for CNC@Pyc.MOL nanocomposite, while CNC@Pyc.MOL.ZnO nanocomposite gave values at 76% (pH 6.8) and 78% (pH 7.4), the efficiency recorded after 19 h. The biological activity of the MOL-drug and modified MOL-drug is measured, and the cytotoxicity is performed by SRB technique, where the self-assembly (CNC@Pyc) appears to be a safe healthy, and high viability against the examined cell line. The antioxidant activity and anti-inflammatory are evaluated, where the nanocomposite that has ZnO NPs (CNC@Pyc.MOL.ZnO) gave high efficiency compared to the composite without ZnO NPs. The CPE-inhibition assay is used to identify potential antivirals against CVID-19 (229E virus), the viral inhibition (%) was reported at 37.6 % (for 800 µg/ml) and 18.02 % (for 400 µg/ml) of CNC@Pyc.MOL.ZnO. Breast cancer is the second most prevalent cancer affecting both males and females, comprising nearly 30 % of all cancer cases. While chemotherapeutic agents, such as cisplatin (Cis), have proven successful in cancer treatment, concerns persist regarding their efficacy and the potentially dangerous side effects. Consequently, there is a crucial and ongoing need to develop approaches that minimize side effects associated with chemotherapy. In the present work, various types of nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized and loaded with Cis. Cis was conjugated with nanocarriers such as zinc oxide (ZnO), ZnO modified with mandelic acid and graphene oxide (GO), chitosan (CS), and CS modified with ZnO and GO to enhance the selectivity of Cis towards cancer cells. Zeta potentials and particles size were assessed using electrophoretic light scattering and dynamic light scattering. NPs were characterized using transmission electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The impact of standalone Cis as well as its nanoconjugated form on the behavior of MCF-7 cell line was investigated using WST-1 cell proliferation and apoptosis/necrosis assays. Experimental findings revealed that among the various NPs tested, ZnO, and CS NPs exhibited the highest loading percentage of Cis, surpassing the loading percentages achieved with other NPs. Cytotoxicity assay showed the enhanced effect of Cis when conjugated with ZnO and CS NPs. Flow cytometry-based assays and confocal microscopy confirmed that ZnO/Cis and CS/Cis induced apoptosis. The cisplatin-nanocomplex exhibited a descending order of early apoptosis and late apoptosis in the following order: ZnO, Cis, CS, ZnO-M, CS-GO, ZnO-GO, CS-ZnO, and CS-ZnO, Cis, CS, CS-GO, ZnO-M, ZnO, ZnO-GO, respectively. Effective treatment for full-thickness burn wounds has remained challenging for clinicians. Among various strategies, extracellular gel-based dressing materials have gained attention to promote effective and rapid wound healing. These gel-based materials are porous and have antioxidant, antibacterial, hydrophilic, biodegradation, and biocompatible properties and hence can be used to alleviate burn wound healing. In concurrence with these findings, the present study evaluates thermo-responsive and self-assembled decellularized extracellular matrix (ECM) of caprine small intestine submucosa (DG-SIS) gel-based dressing material for burn wound healing. To expedite healing and efficiently tackle excessive free radicals and bioburden at the burn wound site, DG-SIS gel is fortified with antibacterial components (zinc oxide nanoparticles; ZnO) and a potent antioxidant agent (Vitamin-C;Vt-C). ZnO- and Vt-C-enriched DG-SIS (DG-SIS/ZnO/Vt-C) gels significantly increased the antioxidant and antibacterial activity of the therapeutic hydrogel. Additionally, the fabricated DG-SIS/ZnO/Vt-C bioactive gel resulted in significant full-thickness burn wound contraction (97.75 % in 14 days), a lower inflammatory effect, and enhanced angiogenesis with the highest collagen synthesis (1.22 μg/mg in 14 days) at the wound site. In this research, a novel double-layer film based on polycaprolactone and cress seed mucilage containing zinc oxide nanoparticles (0.5-2 %) was synthesized using solution casting technique, as an interactive multi-functional wound dressing. The bilayer films were characterized by measuring moisture content, contact angle parameter, porosity, water vapor transmission rate (WVTR), color attributes and opacity, swelling, degradation, mechanical properties, cell viability, and antimicrobial activity, as well as using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results indicated that the film containing 1.5 % zinc oxide nanoparticles had the best performance, with high swelling ability (3600 %) and 25 % degradation within 24 h of placement in a wound simulator solution. Its mechanical properties, including tensile strength and elongation at break, were 9 MPa and 5.53 %, respectively. In investigating the antimicrobial activity of the optimal film against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, the diameter of the inhibition zone was observed to be 39.33 and 42 mm, respectively. Incorporating two different nanoparticles in nanocomposite films is promising as their synergistic effects could significantly enhance polymer performance. Our previous work conferred the remarkable antimicrobial (AM) properties of the polylactic acid (PLA)-based film using optimal formulations of synergistic graphene oxide (GO)/zinc oxide (ZnO) nanocomposites. This study further explores the release profile of GO/ZnO nanocomposite and their impact on the antimicrobial properties. A fixed 1.11 wt% GO and different ZnO concentrations were well dispersed in the PLA matrix. Increasing ZnO concentrations tended to increase agglomeration, as evident in rougher surfaces. Agglomeration inhibited water penetration, leading to a significant reduction in water permeability (46.3 %), moisture content (31.6 %) but an improvement in Young's Modulus (52.6 %). The overall and specific migration of GO/ZnO nanocomposites was found to be within acceptable limits. It is inferred that the release of Zn 2+ ions followed pseudo-Fickian behavior with an initial burst effect. AM film with the highest concentration of ZnO (1.25 wt%) exhibited the highest inhibition rate against Escherichia coli (68.0 %), Bacillus cereus (66.5 %), Saccharomyces cerevisiae (70.9 %).
