Background: The safety of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy for pancreatic stones (P-ESWL) and adverse events were not evaluated and classified within large sample population. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and classify the adverse events of P-ESWL based on a large sample cohort., Methods: This is an observational study based on the large prospective chronic pancreatitis (CP) cohort. Patients with painful pancreatic stones over 5 mm who underwent P-ESWL between March 2011 and June 2018 at Shanghai Changhai Hospital were included. Adverse events after P-ESWL including complications and transient adverse events (TAEs) were recorded. Risk factors of adverse events were analyzed through univariable and multivariable logistics regression analysis. Sensitivity analysis was conducted to test the stability of the study., Results: Totally 2,071 patients underwent 5,002 sessions of P-ESWL were included. The overall complication rate and TAEs rate after all P-ESWL procedures were 5.2% and 20.9%. The complications and TAEs rate decreased obviously within the first 6 sessions. Several independent risk factors for adverse events after P-ESWL were identified. Sensitivity analysis suggested the stability of the results., Conclusions: P-ESWL is a safe treatment for pancreatic stones. Multiple P-ESWL sessions did not increase the complications and TAEs rate. Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) cells have a high p53 mutation rate, but there were rare reported about the p53 gain of function through the prion-like aggregated form in p53 mutated HNSCC cells. Thioflavin T (ThT) is used to stain prion-like proteins in cells. Previously, we found that ThT and p53 staining were co-localized in HNSCC cells (Detroit 562 cells) with homozygous p53 R175H mutation. NAMPT inhibitor can repress ThT staining in Detroit 562 cells. In our previous study, co-treatment with p73 activator NSC59984 and NAMPT inhibitor FK886 synergistically repressed Detroit 562 cell proliferation. In this study, we found that two heterozygous p53-R280T mutation HNSCC cell lines, TW01 and HONE-1, also have the ThT staining signal. Treatment with chlorophyllides and p73 activator or NAMPT inhibitor did not synergistically repress cell proliferation in either Detroit 562 or HONE-1 cells. Chlorophyllides reduced the ThT aggregation signal in both Detroit 562 and HONE-1 cells. Chlorophyllides also induced p73 and caspase 3/7 expression and repressed NAMPT expression in both Detroit 562 and HONE-1 cells. Chlorophyllides reduced tumor size in vivo in Detroit 562 cells injected into a xenograft nude mice model, but this in vivo tumor repression effect was not found in p73 knockdown Detroit 562 cells. Moreover, NAMPT was repressed by chlorophyllides independent of p73 status in vivo. Background: Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) refers to a clinical condition characterized by gastric content reflux into the esophagus, causing symptoms like acid regurgitation and heartburn. While patient education is essential for GERD treatment, traditional educational models often struggle to effectively improve treatment outcomes., Methods: Between January 2021 and April 2022, we enrolled 257 patients and assessed their GERD knowledge. The patients were randomly assigned to either the WeChat group (60 participants) for health education via WeChat platform or the control group (60 participants) for conventional education only. GERD-Q scores were collected at 1, 3, and 6 months post-intervention, with compliance and satisfaction assessed at the study's conclusion., Results: The overall awareness rate of GERD among patients was approximately 22.3 %. The WeChat group showed better compliance than the control group in terms of adhering to a proper diet, taking medication on time, and engaging in moderate exercise (P < 0.05 for all). Furthermore, the WeChat group demonstrated significantly higher treatment effectiveness and satisfaction than the control group (P < 0.05 for all)., Conclusion: Patients have a relatively low level of knowledge regarding GERD. Background: Scrub typhus is underdiagnosed and underreported but emerging as a global public health problem. To inform future burden and prediction studies we examined through a systematic review the potential effect of environmental covariates on scrub typhus occurrence and the methods which have been used for its prediction., Methods: In this systematic review, we searched PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure and other databases, with no language and publication time restrictions, for studies that investigated environmental covariates or utilized methods to predict the spatial or temporal human. Data were manually extracted following a set of queries and systematic analysis was conducted., Results: We included 68 articles published in 1978-2024 with relevant data from 7 countries/regions. Significant environmental risk factors for scrub typhus include temperature (showing positive or inverted-U relationships), precipitation (with positive or inverted-U patterns), humidity (exhibiting complex positive, inverted-U, or W-shaped associations), sunshine duration (with positive, inverted-U associations), elevation, the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), and the proportion of cropland. Socioeconomic and biological factors were rarely explored. Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) (n = 8) and ecological niche modelling (ENM) approach (n = 11) were the most popular methods for predicting temporal trends and spatial distribution of scrub typhus, respectively., Conclusions: Our findings summarized the evidence on environmental covariates affecting scrub typhus occurrence and the methodologies used for predictive modelling. Alginate, mainly produced by brown algae, is an important polysaccharide that supports the growth of marine bacteria. Vreelandella sp. F11 is a Gram-negative and aerobic marine bacterium, which was isolated from the brown algae sample collected from the Weihai coast, the Yellow Sea, China. Here, we present the complete genome of strain F11 and its genomic characteristics to utilize alginate. The genome of strain F11 comprises one circular chromosome with 4,840,724 bp and a GC content of 55.04 %. Strain F11 could grow with alginate as the sole carbon source. Genomic analysis revealed that strain F11 contains a gene cluster, encoding the enzymes, transporters and a regulator protein involved in utilizing alginate. Gene annotations suggested that the alginate utilization system of strain F11 is similar to those in Vibrio strains. However, strain F11 does not contain homologs of known KdgF (a key enzyme involved in the metabolism of alginate monomer) and inner membrane transporters of alginate oligomer uptake. The result indicated that strain F11 contains novel KdgF and inner membrane transporter system, which warrants further investigation. We assessed the association between a genome-wide polygenic risk score (PRS) developed for lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) risk and mutation on the EGFR gene in 998 East Asian never-smoking female LUAD cases (518 EGFR-positive; 480 EGFR-negative) and 4544 never-smoking controls using case-case and multinomial regression analyses. We found that the PRS was more strongly associated with EGFR-positive LUAD compared with EGFR-negative LUAD, where the association between the fourth quartile of the PRS and EGFR-positive LUAD (odds ratio = 8.63, 95% confidence interval: 5.67-13.14) was significantly higher than the association between the fourth quartile of the PRS with EGFR-negative LUAD (odds ratio = 3.50, 95% confidence interval: 2.44-5.00) (p-heterogeneity = 3.66 × 10 -3 ). Background and Purpose: Scientists have been exploring anti-angiogenic strategies to inhibit angiogenesis and prevent tumor growth. Vasculogenic mimicry (VM) in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) poses a challenge, complicating anti-angiogenesis therapy. A novel drug, GN25 (3-[{1,4-dihydro-5,8-dimethoxy-1,4-dioxo-2-naphthalenyl}thio]-propanoic acid), can inhibit tumor formation. This study aims to investigate the microenvironmental effects and molecular mechanisms of GN25 in anti-angiogenesis and anti-VM., Experimental Approach: MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazolyl-2)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) assay was used to evaluate the cell viability of different concentrations of GN25 in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) and Uppsala 87 malignant glioma (U87MG) cells. Functional assays were used to investigate the effects of GN25 on angiogenesis-related processes, whereas gelatin zymography, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, and Western blotting were utilized to assess the influence on matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) secretion and related signaling pathways., Key Results: GN25 suppressed migration, wound healing, and tube formation in HUVECs and disrupted angiogenesis in a rat aorta ring and zebrafish embryo model. GN25 dose-dependently reduced phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/AKT and inhibited MMP-2/VEGF secretion in HUVECs. In U87MG cells, GN25 inhibited migration, wound healing, and VM, accompanied by a decrease in MMP-2 and VEGF secretion. The results indicate that GN25 effectively inhibits angiogenesis and VM formation in HUVECs and U87MG cells without affecting preexisting vascular structures., Conclusion and Implications: This study elaborated GN25's potential as an anti-angiogenic agent by elucidating its inhibitory effects on classical angiogenesis. Membrane-less single-medium sediment microbial fuel cells (single-SMFC) can remove Cu 2+ from sediment through electromigration. However, the high mass transfer resistance of the sediment and amount of oxygen at the cathode of the SMFC limit its Cu 2+ removal ability. Therefore, this study used an oxygen-releasing bead (ORB) for slow oxygen release to increase oxygen at the SMFC cathode and improve the mass transfer property of the sediment. Resultantly, the copper removal efficiency of SMFC increased significantly. Response surface methodology was used to optimize the nano zero-valent iron (nZVI)-modified biochar as the catalyst to enhance the ability of the modified ORB (ORB m ) to remove Cu 2+ and slow release of O 2 . The maximum Cu 2+ removal (95 %) and the slowest O 2 release rate (0.41 mg O 2 /d·g ORB m ) were obtained when the CaO 2 content and ratio of nZVI-modified biochar to unmodified biochar were 0.99 g and 4.95, respectively. When the optimized ORB m was placed at the single-SMFC cathode, the voltage output and copper removal increased by 4.6 and 2.1 times, respectively, compared with the system without ORB m . Background: Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is the most prevalent biliary tract tumor characterized by a high incidence of recurrence, even after curative-intent surgery. The object of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to investigate the risk factors related to early recurrence (ER)., Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science to identify published articles up to February 2024. Data on risk factors associated with ER reported by two or more studies were collected. Selection of different effect models based on data heterogeneity., Results: Out of 6497 initially identified articles based on our search strategies, only 5 were eligible and included in this meta-analysis and 12 ER-related factors were collected. The overall recurrence rate was reported between 32.3% and 61.0 %, and the ER rate ranged from 19.6% to 26.5 %. Concentrations of CA19-9 (OR 3.03 95 % CI 2.20-4.17) and CEA (OR 1.85 95 % CI 1.24-2.77), tumor differentiation (OR 2.79, 95 % CI 1.86-4.20), AJCC T stage (OR 7.64, 95%CI 3.40-17.18), lymphovascular invasion (OR 2.71, 95 % CI 1.83-4.03), perineural invasion (OR 2.71, 95 % CI 1.79-4.12), liver involvement (OR 5.69, 95%CI 3.78-8.56) and adjuvant therapy (OR 2.19, 95 % CI 1.06-4.55) were identified as the risk factors of ER., Conclusion: This study may provide valuable insights for early identification of increased ER risk and making informed decisions regarding the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of patients with GBC. The psychological effects of staged nasal reconstruction with a forehead flap were prospectively investigated. Thirty-three patients underwent nasal reconstruction with forehead flaps between March 2017 and July 2020. Three questionnaires were used to assess psychosocial functioning before surgery (time 1), 1 week after forehead flap transfer (time 2), 1 week after forehead flap division (time 3), and after refinement procedures (time 4). The patients were categorized into three groups according to the severity of nasal defects. Between- and within-group comparisons were conducted. All patients reported increased satisfaction with their appearance during nasal reconstruction. For most patients, levels of distress and social avoidance were highest before reconstruction (time 1). Both levels decreased as reconstruction advanced, and were significantly improved by times 3 and 4. The stage of reconstruction had a greater effect on these levels than did severity of nasal defect. Nasal reconstruction with forehead flap is beneficial physically and psychologically. Due to the inappropriate disposal of waste materials containing lead (Pb) and irrigation with sewage containing Pb, the migration of Pb 2+ within the soil profile has been extensively investigated. The conventional Pb 2+ block method is challenging to implement due to its complex operational procedures and high construction costs. To address this issue, this study introduces the microbial-induced carbonate precipitation (MICP) technique as a novel approach to impede the migration of Pb 2+ in the soil profile. Soil acclimatization with urea resulted in an increased proportion of urease-producing microorganisms, including Bacillus, Paenibacillus, and Planococcaceae, along with heightened expression of urea-hydrolyzing genes (UreA, UreB, UreC, and UreG). This indicates that urea-acclimatized soil (Soil-MICP) possesses the potential to induce carbonate precipitation. Batch Pb 2+ fixation experiments confirmed that the fixation efficiency of Soil-MICP on Pb 2+ exceeded that of soil without MICP, attributed to the MICP process within the Soil-MICP group. Dynamic migration experiments revealed that the MICP reaction transformed exchangeable lead into carbonate-bound Pb, effectively impeding Pb 2+ migration in the soil profile. Additionally, the migration rate of Pb 2+ in Soil-MICP was influenced by varying urea amounts, pH levels, and pore flow rates, leading to a slowdown in migration. The Two-site sorption model aptly described the Pb 2+ migration process in the Soil-MICP column. Derivative spectroscopy is used to separate the small absorption peaks superimposed on the main absorption band, which is widely adopted in modern spectral analysis to increase both the valid spectral information and the identification accuracy. In this study, a method based on attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) with first-order derivative (FD) processing combined with chemometrics is proposed for rapid qualitative and quantitative analysis of Panax ginseng polysaccharides (PGP), Panax notoginseng polysaccharides (PNP), and Panax quinquefolius polysaccharides (PQP). First, ATR-FTIR with FD processing was used to establish the discriminant model combined with principal component analysis (PCA), partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) and linear discriminant analysis (LDA). After that, two-dimensional ATR-FTIR based on single-characteristic temperature as external interference (2D-sATR-FTIR) was established using ATR-FTIR with FD processing. Then, ATR-FTIR with FD processing was combined with PLS to establish and optimize the quantitative regression model. Finally, the established discriminant model and 2D-sATR-FTIR successfully distinguished PGP, PNP and PQP, and the optimal PLS regression model had a good prediction ability for the Panax polysaccharide extracts content. Heavy metal migration in soil poses a serious threat to the soil and groundwater. Understanding the migration pattern of heavy metals (HMs) under different factors could provide a more reasonable position for pollution evaluation and targetoriented treatment of soil heavy metal. In this study, the migration behavior of Pb and Cd in co-contaminated soil under different pH and ionic strength (NaCl concentration) was simulated using convective dispersion equation (CDE). We predicted the migration trends of Pb and Cd in soils after 5, 10, and 20 years via PHREEQC. The results showed that the migration time of Cd in the soil column experiment was about 60 days faster than that of Pb, and the migration trend was much steeper. The CDE was proved to describe the migration behavior of Pb and Cd (R 2 > 0.75) in soil. The predicted results showed that Cd migrated to 15-20 cm of soil within 7 years and Pb stayed mainly in the top 0-6 cm of soil within 5 years as the duration of irrigation increased. Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is a worldwide common plasticizer. Nevertheless, DEHP is easily leached out to the environment due to the lack of covalent bonds with plastic. High dose of DEHP exposure is often observed in hemodialysis patients because of the continual usage of plastic medical devices. Although the liver is the major organ that catabolizes DEHP, the impact of long-term DEHP exposure on the sensitivity of liver cancer to chemotherapy remains unclear. In this study, we established long-term DEHP-exposed hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells and two NOD/SCID mice models to investigate the effects and the underlying mechanisms of long-term DEHP exposure on chemosensitivity of HCC. The results showed long-term DEHP exposure potentially increased epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in HCC cells. Next generation sequencing showed that long-term DEHP exposure increased cell adhesion/migratory related genes expression and blunted sorafenib treatment induced genes alterations. Long-term exposure to DEHP reduced the sensitivity of HCC cells to sorafenib-induced anti-migratory effect by enhancing the EMT transcription factors (slug, twist, and ZEB1) and mesenchymal protein (vimentin) expression. In NOD/SCID mice model, we showed that long-term DEHP-exposed HCC cells exhibited higher growth rate. Regarding the anti-HCC effects of sorafenib, subcutaneous HuH7 tumor grew slowly in sorafenib-treated mice. Nonetheless, the anti-tumor growth effect of sorafenib was not observed in long-term DEHP-exposed mice. Higher mesenchymal markers and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) expression were found in sorafenib-treated long-term DEHP-exposed mice. African swine fever (ASF) is a severe viral disease with a high mortality rate in domestic and wild pigs, for which no effective vaccine and antiviral drugs are available. The great infectivity of the ASF virus highlights the need for sensitive, simple, and on-site detection assays of ASF. We herein developed a colorimetric sensing strategy for the detection of an ASF-associated miRNA, based on isothermal rolling circle amplification (RCA) and salt-induced gold nanoparticle aggregation. Ssc-miR-451 was selected as the target ASF biomarker due to its high expression in ASF virus-infected pigs. With a red-purple-blue color shifting, this biosensing platform offers convenient detection of ssc-miR-451 with a UV-Vis spectrometer or the naked eye. The proposed assay exhibits a dose-response relationship between the optical absorbance ratio (A525/A640) and the amounts of ssc-miR-451, with a detection limit calculated as 3.56 fmol (equivalent to 11.86 pM in 300 μL reaction mixture). This assay's coefficient of variation (CV%) was determined to be less than 5.95%, revealing its reproducibility is satisfactory. In addition, the newly developed method was successfully applied in the detection of spiked ssc-miR-451 in pig serum samples. Introduction: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common chronic liver disease, often accompanied by obesity, diabetes, and increased risks of depression and anxiety. Currently, there are no FDA-approved drugs to treat NAFLD and its related systemic symptoms. Previously, we identified a new barbituric acid derivative (BA-5) that expressed effectiveness against fibrosis and drug-resistant hepatocellular carcinoma., Aims: This study investigated the potential of BA-5 against high-fat diet (HFD)-induced NAFLD and mood disorders in mice., Main Methods: Six-weeks-old male C57BL/6 mice were fed with a 45 % HFD for 8 weeks to induce NAFLD and associated metabolic disorders. Mice were treated with a BA-5 and the therapeutic effects and the underlying molecular mechanisms were investigated., Key Findings: Administration of BA-5 significantly reduced serum levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), fatty acids (FA), and triglycerides (TG) in HFD-fed mice. BA-5 treatment decreased expressions of hepatic lipogenesis-related markers (acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC), fatty acid synthase (FAS), and ATP-citrate lyase (ACLY)), increased fatty acid oxidation markers (carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1A (CPT1A) and acyl-CoA oxidase 1 (ACOX1)), and attenuated hepatic fat accumulation in HFD-fed mice. Moreover, HFD-induced adipocyte size enlargement and activation of lipolysis markers such as phosphorylated (p)-hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) 565, p-HSL 660, and perilipin were inhibited in BA-5-treated mice. Background: Combined hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma (CHCC-CC) is a rare subtype of primary liver malignancy and has been treated equally as intra-hepatic cholangiocarcinoma (IHCC) according to the 8th AJCC staging system. Owing to its rarity, its prognostic factors have been rarely explored and defined., Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library and Web of Science were searched up till January 1st, 2023 and eligible studies were restricted to studies reported prognostic factors of resected CHCC-CC. Standard Parmar modifications were used to determine pooled univariable hazard ratios (HRs)., Results: A total of eleven studies with 1286 patients with resected classical CHCC-CC were finally included. Pooled results indicated that serum tumor biomarkers, including AFP, CA199, and CEA, were prognostic factors for postoperative overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS). Moreover, liver cirrhosis (P = 0.010), HBV infection (P = 0.030), and HCV infection (P < 0.001) were prognostic factors for OS. Age (HR = 1.03, P = 0.005) was a prognostic factor for DFS. Tumor size (OS: HR = 2, P < 0.001, DFS: HR = 2.15, P < 0.001), tumor number (OS: HR = 2.05, P < 0.001; DFS: HR = 1.96, P = 0.006), surgical margin (OS: HR = 2.33, <0.001001; DFS: HR = 2.35, P < 0.001), node metastasis (OS: HR = 2.96, P < 0.001; DFS: HR = 2.1, P < 0.001), vascular invasion (OS: HR = 2.17, P < 0.001; DFS: HR = 2.64, P < 0.001), and postoperative prophylactic trans-arterial chemotherapy embolization (PPTACE) (OS: HR = 1.67, P = 0.04; DFS: HR = 2.31, P < 0.001) were common prognostic factors for OS and DFS., Conclusion: Various risk factors unmentioned in the 8th AJCC staging system were identified. Chinese giant salamander skin collagen (CGSSC) was successfully conjugated with glucose (Glu)/xylose (Xy) by ultrasound Maillard reaction (MR) in nature deep eutectic solvents (NADES). The effects of ultrasound and reducing sugar types on the degree graft (DG) of MR products (MRPs), as well as the influence of DG on the structure and functional properties of MRPs were investigated. The results indicated that the ultrasound assisted could markedly enhance the MR of CGSSC, and low molecular weight reducing sugars were more reactive in MR. The ultrasound MR significantly changed the microstructure, secondary and tertiary structures of CGSSC. Moreover, the free sulfhydryl content of MRPs were increased, thus enhancing the surface hydrophobicity, emulsifying properties and antioxidant activity, which were positively correlated with DG. Improper use of antibiotics has led to the global rise of drug-resistant biofilm bacteria. Thus, researchers have been increasingly interested in green materials that are highly biocompatible and have low toxicity. Here, nanogels (NGs) with imine bonds were synthesized by crosslinking kiwifruit-derived DNA's primary amine and aromatic aldehydes (cuminaldehyde, p-anisaldehyde, or vanillin) under water-in-hexane emulsion processes. Transmission electron microscope showed that the NGs had spherical geometry with an average particle size ranging from 40 to 140 nm and that the zeta potential indicated a negative charge. Additionally, the DNA-aromatic aldehyde NGs showed low cytotoxicity toward normal cell organoids and human RBCs in cell viability tests. These NGs were also tested against four pathogenic bacteria for various assays. DNA-vanillin (DNA-VA) NGs exhibited significant antibacterial effects against bacteria with very low inhibitory concentrations as seen in a minimum inhibitory concentration assay. Scanning electron microscope observation revealed that the bacteria were deformed, and immunoblotting detected intracellular groEL protein expression. In agreement with these results, DNA-aromatic aldehyde NGs successfully protected C. elegans from P. aeruginosa-induced lethality. These DNA NGs provided a multivalent 3D space for antibacterial aromatic aldehydes to tether, enhancing their interaction with the bacterial wall. Background: The significance of peri-neural invasion (PNI) in resected patients with hilar cholangiocarcinoma (HCCA) has been rarely explored. Our study was performed to evaluate the significance of PNI in resected HCCA patients in terms of tumor biological features and long-term survival., Methods: We retrospectively reviewed surgically-treated HCCA patients between June, 2000 and June 2018. SPSS 25.0 software was used for statistical analysis., Results: A total of 239 resected HCCA patients were included (No. PNI: 138). PNI indicated more aggressive tumor biological features. Major vascular reconstruction was more frequently performed in patients with PNI (34.8% vs 24.8%, P = 0.064). Patients with PNI shared a significantly higher percentage of surgical margin width <5 mm (29.0% vs 16.8%, P = 0.02). The proportion of patients with T1-2 disease (31.2% vs 40.6%, P = 0.085) or I-II disease (21% vs 34.7%, P = 0.014) was significantly lower in patients with PNI. The overall morbidity rate was significantly higher in patients with PNI (P = 0.042). A much worse overall survival (OS) (P = 0.0003) or disease-free survival (DFS) (P = 0.0011) in patients with PNI. Even after matching vital prognostic factors, a significantly worse OS (P = 0.0003) or DFS (P = 0.0002) was still observed in patients with PNI. PNI was an independent prognostic factor in both OS (P = 0.011) and DFS (P = 0.024)., Conclusion: PNI indicated more aggressive tumor biological features and more advanced tumor stage in patients with resected HCCA. PNI can be an independent prognostic factor in both OS and DFS. Phosphate (P) resources are expected to be depleted within a century. Therefore, promoting balanced phosphorus fertilizer use and understanding phosphorus dynamics in soils containing iron (III), organic acids, and iron (III)-organic molecule particulates is crucial. This study investigated the sorption of citric acid onto humic acid-iron hydr(o)xide coprecipitate (HAFHCP) and the reciprocal effects of citric acid and P sorption on HAFHCP with different C/Fe ratios. The results showed that the maximum sorption capacity (MSC) of citric acid on HAFHCP decreased with increasing C/Fe ratios in the HAFHCP. The P sorption on HAFHCP pre-sorbed with citric acids (denoted as C-P) decreased by 50% compared with that of the MSC on FH. However, citric acids could only reduce P sorption by 20% when P was pre-sorbed on HAFHCP (denoted as P-C). The results suggested that upon the formation of HAFHCP, citric acids might increase P availability, especially in the C-P system. Although citric acids initially inhibited P sorption on HAFHCP in the P-C system, P sorption increased with prolonged reaction time. The exposures of new sorption sites upon dissolution of Fe from HAFHCP by citric acids or/and the formations of Fe bridge between P and organic domains of HAFHCP might contribute to these results. Additionally, a number of large HAFHCP aggregates became smaller while sorbing P due to the increasing electric repulsion on the surfaces of FH, enabling the subsequent dissolutions of more Fe by citric acids from HAFHCP in the P-C system. By integrating these innovative and sustainable strategies, the recycling and reuse of P can be optimized, thereby minimizing the reliance on synthetic fertilizers and mitigating environmental impacts. Nuclear transporter importin- β 1 is emerging as an attractive target by virtue of its prevalence in many cancers. However, the lack of druggable inhibitors restricts its therapeutic proof of concept. In the present work, we optimized a natural importin- β 1 inhibitor DD1 to afford an improved analog DD1 -Br with better tolerability (>25 folds) and oral bioavailability. DD1 -Br inhibited the survival of castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) cells with sub-nanomolar potency and completely prevented tumor growth in resistant CRPC models both in monotherapy (0.5 mg/kg) and in enzalutamide-combination therapy. Mechanistic study revealed that by targeting importin- β 1, DD1 -Br markedly inhibited the nuclear accumulation of multiple CRPC drivers, particularly AR-V7, a main contributor to enzalutamide resistance, leading to the integral suppression of downstream oncogenic signaling. Background and Aims: The microbial spectrum and antimicrobial resistance patterns change over time and vary across regions in patients with spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP). There is an urgent need to clarify the factors associated with in-hospital mortality in these patients., Methods: In this study, 377 patients with SBP and 794 patients with bacterascites were analyzed for the microbial spectrum, antimicrobial resistance profiles, and laboratory findings., Results: The most common pathogens were Escherichia coli (96, 25.5%), Staphylococcus epidermidis (55, 14.6%), and Enterococcus faecium (42, 11.1%). Multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria comprised 49.7% of gram-positive bacteria (GPB) and 48.8% of gram-negative bacteria (GNB). The most sensitive antibiotics were amikacin (91.5%), meropenem (89.8%) and piperacillin/tazobactam (87.6%). Extensively drug-resistant (XDR) (OR=51.457, p < 0.001), neutrophil count (OR=1.088, p < 0.001), and the model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) score (OR=1.124, p < 0.001) were independent predictive factors of in-hospital mortality in patients with SBP., Conclusion: MDR represented nearly half of the bacteria isolated from patients with SBP, of which the high prevalence of extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing and Carbapenem-resistant bacteria is concerning. Microdroplet mass spectrometry (MMS), achieving ultra-fast enzyme digestion in the ionization source, holds great promises for innovating protein analysis. Here, in-depth protein characterization is demonstrated by direct injection of intact protein mixtures via on-line coupling MMS with capillary C4 liquid chromatography (LC) containing UV windows (UVLC-MMS) through an enzyme introduction tee. We showed complete sets of peptides of individual proteins (hemoglobin, bovine serum albumin, and ribonuclease A) in a mixture could be obtained in one injection. Such full (100%) sequence coverage, however, could not be achieved by conventional nanoLC-MS method using bottom-up approach with single enzyme. Moreover, direct injection of a chaperone α-crystalline (α-Cry) complex yielded identification of post-translational modifications including novel sites and semi-quantitative characterization including 3:1 stoichiometry ratio of αA- and αB-Cry sub-units and ∼1.4 phosphorylation/subunit on S45 (novel site) and S122 (main site) of αA-Cry, ∼0.7 phosphorylation/subunit on S19 (main site) and S45 of αB-Cry, as well as 100% acetylation on both N-termini of each subunits by matching the mass and retention time of the intact and its digested peptides. Furthermore, trifluoroacetic acid was able to be used in the mobile phase with UVLC-MMS to improve the separation of differentially reduced intact species and detectability of the droplet-digested products. This allowed us to completely map four disulfide linkages of ribonuclease A based on collision-induced dissociation of disulfide clusters, some of which would otherwise not be detected, preventing scrambling or shuffling errors arising from lengthy bulk solution digestion by the bottom-up approach. Background: To achieve improved functional outcomes in subtotal tongue reconstruction, a flap design with sufficient volume and appropriate shape is necessary. In this study, we introduce an "Individualized and Convenient Tongue Model" (ICTM) for flap design in subtotal tongue reconstruction., Methods: By studying the anatomical morphology of the tongue, we found a similar geometry within the dorsum and body of the tongue as well as the mouth floor. This can be used to create an ICTM through folding and splicing. We can simulate tongue defects in the ICTM and transform defect shapes into guide plates for flap design. In this study, fifty-eight patients requiring subtotal tongue reconstruction were randomly divided into two groups: an ICTM group (35 patients) and a conventional group (31 patients). In the ICTM group, we individually designed profunda artery perforator flaps (PAPFs) or anterolateral thigh flaps (ALTFs) using the ICTM method. In the conventional group, the flap was designed according to the surgeon's clinical experience. Patient demographics, operative and follow-up data were recorded. Swallowing, speech intelligibility, and cosmetic results were assessed using appropriate scales., Results: All flaps survived, although there were no significant differences in tumor size, operation time, flap size, and complication rate compared to the conventional group. Evidence regarding the optical surgical extent for Bismuth type I/II HCCA is lacking. we aims to evaluate the optimal surgical methods for Bismuth type I/II HCCA. Studies comparing bile duct resection (BDR) and BDR combined with liver resection (BDR + LR) for all types of HCCA patients were searched for analyses, and 14 studies were finally included. The main outcomes were the R0 resection rate and overall survival (OS). For all types of HCCA patents, BDR + LR resulted with higher R0 resection rates when comparing with BDR only (RR = 0.70, 95%CI, 0.63-0.78), and patients with R0 resections had eight times longer median survival and more long-time survival outcomes (3 and 5 year OS) comparing to those with non-R0 resections. Bismuth I/II HCCA patients also showed longer median survival and 3-year OS after R0 resections (P = 0.04). Moreover, there was no significant difference in 3-year OS between BDR and BDR + LR (P = 0.89) and we additionally found BDR resulted in less mortality or morbidity rates. In Europe and US, they resulted the R0 resection rates could be comparable between BDR and BDR + LR (P = 0.18), and Bismuth type I HCCA accounted for 75.8%, while in Asia, BDR + LR still resulted with higher R0 resection rates (P < 0.0001) and the Bismuth type I HCCA accounted for only 40.3%. The role and mechanisms of integrated stress response inhibitor (ISRIB) on silicosis are still not well defined. In the present study, the effects of ISRIB on cellular senescence and pulmonary fibrosis in silicosis were evaluated by RNA sequencing, micro-computed tomography, pulmonary function assessment, histological examination, and Western blot analysis. The results showed that ISRIB significantly reduced the degree of pulmonary fibrosis in mice with silicosis and reduced the expression of type I collagen, fibronectin, α-smooth muscle actin, and transforming growth factor-β1. Both in vivo and in vitro results showed that ISRIB reversed the expression of senescence-related factors β-galactosidase, phosphor-ataxia telangiectasia mutated, phosphor-ataxia telangiectasia and Rad3-related protein, p-p53, p21, p16, and plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1. The aforementioned results were consistent with the sequencing results. Background: Most patients with resected bile tract cancers (BTCs) survive for less than 5 years; however, some achieve better prognosis. The tumor microbiome can improve survival by regulating the tumor immune microenvironment. However, whether the tumor microbiome promotes immune cell infiltration in BTCs is unknown. This study aimed to determine the association between CD8 + T lymphocyte infiltration and the tumor microbiome in patients with resected BTCs., Methods: Archived formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tumor specimens were collected from patients with resected BTCs and analyzed using 16S rRNA gene sequencing to identify that prognosis-related and significantly differentially enriched taxa. Gene ontology (GO) analysis of the differentially enriched taxa was used to assess how CD8 + T lymphocyte infiltration is affected by the tumor microbiome of BTCs., Results: We enrolled 32 patients with resected BTCs. The high CD8 + lymphocyte-infiltration (CD8 hi ) group had four significantly enriched taxa, and in the low CD8 + lymphocyte-infiltration (CD8 low ) group comprised one significantly enriched taxon. Patients with higher Clostridia abundance (enriched in the CD8 hi group) experienced longer overall survival than those with lower abundance. The enrichment of Clostridia in the CD8 hi group corresponded with lower CCL2 expression and downregulation of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase activity, which might decrease myeloid-derived suppressor cell recruitment to the tumor milieu, thus increasing CD8 + lymphocyte infiltration in BTCs., Conclusions: The tumor microbiome is related to CD8 + T lymphocyte infiltration in patients with resected BTCs. Introduction: We have previously demonstrated that auxiliary metformin therapy promotes healing of apical periodontitis. Here we aimed to investigate the effects of metformin on osteoblast differentiation and osteoclast formation in cultured cells and rat apical periodontitis., Methods: Murine pre-osteoblasts MC3T3-E1 and macrophages RAW264.7 were cultured under hypoxia (2% oxygen) or normoxia (21% oxygen) and stimulated with receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL) when indicated. Metformin was added to the cultures to evaluate its anti-hypoxic effects. Expressions of osteoblast differentiation regulator runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2), RANKL, and osteoclast marker tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) were assessed by Western blot. Apical periodontitis was induced in mandibular first molars of 10 Sprague-Dawley rats. Root canal therapy with or without metformin supplement was performed. Periapical bone resorption was measured by micro-computed tomography. Immunohistochemistry was used to examine RUNX2, RANKL, and TRAP expressions., Results: Hypoxia suppressed RUNX2 expression and enhanced RANKL synthesis in pre-osteoblasts. TRAP production increased in macrophages after hypoxia and/or RANKL stimulation. Metformin reversed hypoxia-induced RUNX2 suppression and RANKL synthesis in pre-osteoblasts. Metformin also inhibited hypoxia and RANKL-enhanced TRAP synthesis in macrophages. Intracanal metformin diminished bone loss in rat apical periodontitis. Comparing with vehicle control, cells lining bone surfaces in metformin-treated lesions had significantly stronger expression of RUNX2 and decreased synthesis of RANKL and TRAP., Conclusions: Alleviation of bone resorption by intracanal metformin was associated with enhanced osteoblast differentiation and diminished osteoclast formation in rat apical periodontitis. The purpose of this study was to introduce a novel individualized flap design method for large anterior floor of the mouth (AFOM) defect reconstruction, review experience with the use of this flap design method for large AFOM defect reconstruction, and assess its functional results. A retrospective study of patients who received large AFOM defect reconstruction with free flaps was conducted. There was a cohort of patients who were treated using the novel individualized flap design method and a cohort without flap design. Functional outcomes were evaluated with appropriate scales. Outcomes were analyzed, and a p-value <0.05 was considered significant. 22 patients received the individualized flap design, while 21 patients were treated without a special flap design. All flaps survived. All free flaps harvested with the novel individualized flap design method better matched AFOM defects. Relative to patients without flap design, patients in the novel individualized flap design group showed significant improvement in speech intelligibility (p = 0.036) and swallowing function (p = 0.019). Within the limitation of the study it seems that large AFOM defect reconstruction with the novel individualized flap design method can not only cover and close the wound to avoid oral-neck fistulae, but also maintains tongue mobility to achieve better functional outcomes than in patients without flap design., (Copyright © 2023 European Association for Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery. Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) in adult patients with congenital heart disease (ACHD) may appear early, depending on individual characteristics., Objectives: The goals of this study were to investigate the epidemiological spectrum of AF in the entire cohort of ACHD and compare it with that in the general population., Methods: A retrospective study was performed in the nationwide cohort 2000-2014 with AF onset during 2003-2014., Results: In the cohort of ACHD, 2350 patients had AF; the incidence increased with age, plateauing around age 70. In patients aged 25-29, 45-49, 65-69, 75-79, and ≥80 years, the annual incidence was 1.3, 7.9, 20.6, 23.7, and 21.4/1000 per year, respectively. In the general population without CHD, 347,979 patients had AF; the annual incidence was <1/1000 per year in those aged <55 years but increased steadily with age (3.6, 8.6, and 14.2/1000 per year in aged 65-69, 75-79, and ≥80 years, respectively). Compared with individuals without ACHD, ACHD patients aged <50 years and those aged both 50-54 and 55-59 years exhibited a 20-fold and 10-fold higher incidence of AF, respectively. Patients with complex congenital heart disease and Ebstein's anomaly had the highest risk of AF (cumulative risk >10% by age 50 and >20% by age 60), followed by those with tetralogy of Fallot, tricuspid atresia, endocardial cushion defect, and secundum atrial septal defect (cumulative risk >5% by age 50 and >10% by age 60)., Conclusion: Compared with individuals without ACHD, AF in patients with ACHD likely appeared 30 years earlier, with a 10- to 20-fold higher incidence plateauing around age 70. In this study, we comprehensively investigated the concentrations, distribution, and sources of seven PTEs in a dustfall-soil-crop system (424 samples in total) near a typical non-ferrous mining area, using absolute principal component score/multiple linear regression (APCS/MLR) combined with X-ray diffraction (XRD) and microscopy techniques. Our results showed that the mean values of As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Zn in the soils were 211, 14, 105, 91, 65, 232, and 325 mg/kg, respectively. These values were significantly higher than the background soil values in Yunnan. Except for Ni and Cr, all elements in the soil were significantly higher than the screening values of agricultural lands in China. The spatial distribution of PTE concentrations was similar among the three media. The ACPS/MLR, XRD, and microscopy analyses further indicated that soil PTEs mainly originated from industrial activities (37 %), vehicle emissions and agricultural activities (29 %), respectively. Dustfall PTEs mainly originated from vehicle emissions and industrial activities, accounting for 40 % and 37 %, respectively. Crop PTEs mainly originated from vehicle emissions and soil (57 %), and agricultural activities (11 %), respectively. PTEs seriously threaten the safety of agricultural products and the ecological environment once they settle from the atmosphere to soil and crop leaves, further accumulate in crops, and spread through the food chain. Objective: The beneficial effects of multidisciplinary disease management programs have been demonstrated. The present study investigated the effects of a policy-driven, health insurance-reimbursed, heart failure (HF) post-acute care (PAC) program on mortality, health care service utilization, and readmission expenses for patients following hospitalization for HF., Design: This was a retrospective propensity score-matched cohort study using the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database., Setting and Participants: In total, 4346 patients (2173 receiving HF-PAC and 2173 controls) with left ventricular ejection fraction of ≤40% who were discharged following hospitalization for HF were included for analysis., Methods: All patients were followed up after discharge for all-cause mortality, emergency visits within 30 days, and length of stay and medical expenses for readmission within 180 days after discharge., Results: After propensity score matching, baseline characteristics of the HF-PAC and control groups were similar. During a mean follow-up period of 1.59 ± 0.92 years, according to the Cox multivariable analysis, HF-PAC reduced mortality by 48% compared with the control group, independent of traditional risk factors (hazard ratio = 0.520, 95% CI = 0.452-0.597, P < .001). Kaplan-Meier curves revealed that HF-PAC was associated with a higher cumulative survival rate (log-rank = 96.43, P < .001). HF-PAC also decreased the frequency of emergency visits after discharge by 23% in the 30 days post discharge and decreased length of stay and medical expenses related to readmission by 61% and 63%, respectively, in the 180 days post discharge (all P < .001)., Conclusions and Implications: HF-PAC reduces short-term all-cause emergency visits, length of stay, and medical expenses for all-cause readmission and all-cause mortality in patients discharged following hospitalization for HF. There are common immunogenicity-related side effects such as fever, myalgia, lethargy, and headache; however, rare report on the neuropsychiatric problems (Ramasamy et al., 2021). Background: Peri-neural invasion (PNI) in gallbladder carcinoma (GBC) has been demonstrated as a vital prognostic factor. However, whether PNI in patients with GBC can be regarded as a surgical indication of bile duct resection (BDR) remains controversial., Methods: GBC patients with pathologically-confirmed PNI between September 2010 and September 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. Comparative analyses were performed in patients with PNI according to the performance of BDR. SPSS 25.0 software and Graph pad PRISMA 7.0 software were used for statistical analyses., Results: A total of 70 patients GBC patients with PNI were incorporated. The results of comparative analyses indicated that patients who received BDR were generally in a more advanced stage and often required a more extended radical cholecystectomy. Higher incidences of preoperative jaundice (48.6% vs 2.9%, P < 0.0001), major hepatectomy (25.7% vs 8.6%, P = 0.055), combined multi-visceral resections (48.6% vs 5.7%, P < 0.0001), combined major vascular reconstruction (22.9% vs 2.9%, P = 0.014), and a lower R0 rate (68.6% vs 88.6%, P = 0.039) were detected in patients who received BDR. Even after propensity score matching (PSM), BDR still had no significant survival advantage but only increased the length of postoperative stay and the frequency of postoperative morbidities., Conclusion: BDR seemed to have no significant survival advantage in GBC patients with PNI and was only correlated with a longer postoperative hospital stay and a higher rate of morbidities. Soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) serves as a potential target in inflammation-related diseases. Based on the bioactivity-guided separation, a new sesquiterpenoid inulajaponoid A (1) was isolated from Inula japonica with a sEH inhibitory effect, together with five known compounds, such as 1-O-acetyl-6-O-isobutyrylbritannilactone (2), 6β-hydroxytomentosin (3), 1β,8β-dihydroxyeudesma-4(15),11(13)-dien-12,6α-olide (4), (4S,6S,7S,8R)-1-O-acetyl-6-O-(3-methylvaleryloxy)-britannilactone (5), and 1-acetoxy-6α-(2-methylbutyryl)eriolanolide (6). Among them, compounds 1 and 6 were assigned as mixed and uncompetitive inhibitors, respectively. The result of immunoprecipitation (IP)-MS demonstrated the specific binding of compound 6 to sEH in the complex system, which was further confirmed by the fluorescence-based binding assay showing its equilibrium dissociation constant (K d  = 2.43 μM). The detail molecular stimulation revealed the mechanism of action of compound 6 with sEH through the hydrogen bond of amino acid residue Gln384. Furthermore, this natural sEH inhibitor (6) could suppress the MAPK/NF-κB activation to regulate inflammatory mediators, such as NO, TNF-α, and IL-6, which confirmed the anti-inflammatory effect of inhibition of sEH by 6. Chromatographic fractionation of the 95% EtOH extract of the roots of Stellera chamaejasme yielded 20 sesquiterpenoids of four different types, guaiane-, carotane-, sesquicarane-, and alpiniane-types. Among them, sesquistrachanoids A-F were previously undescribed ones, whose structures including absolute configurations were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, the Mo 2 (OAc) 4 -induced ECD experiment, and analysis of experimental and calculated 1D NMR and ECD data. Sesquistrachanoid A is a 2,3-seco-guaiane-type sesquiterpenoid with a α-pyrone core and sesquistrachanoid B is the first example of 8,9-seco-guaiane-type sesquiterpenoid featured with an 1,8-δ-lactone core. Sesquistrachanoid C is a guaiane sesquiterpenoid characterized by a peroxide bridge between C-8 and C-10. All sesquiterpenoids were evaluated for their neuroprotective effects on cell damage induced by sodium nitroprusside in PC-12 cells. The bioassay results showed that six compounds at 10 μM could restore the cell viability, being comparable to that of the positive control edaravone. Although iron-based metal-organic frameworks (Fe-MOFs) have displayed the photocatalytic activity, there is still abundant room for improving their photocatalytic performance through tuning the structures. In this work, four novel iron-based metal-organic frameworks (Fe-MOFs) were successfully synthesized via ligand modulation for better photocatalytic Cr(VI) reduction, in which MTBDC-TPT-Fe had the highest catalytic activity (MTBDC = 2,5-bis(methylthio)terephthalic acid, TPT = 2,4,6-tri(4-pyridyl)- 1,3,5-triazine). The boosted photocatalytic reduction may be mainly ascribed to the enhanced electron push-pull effect between iron-oxygen clusters and organic ligands. The introduction of -SCH 3 groups can enhance the light absorption and donate electrons to iron center under visible-light irradiation, meanwhile the separation and transfer of photogenerated charge carriers can be enhanced resulting from the electron-pulling effect when introducing TPT. Moreover, enhanced specific surface areas and positive skeleton charge due to the introduction of TPT may improve active sites exposure and Cr(VI) adsorption, thereby enhancing photocatalytic Cr(VI) reduction activity without the presence of any assisted scavengers. In addition, the photocatalytic mechanism (i.e. active species) were also studied and presented. Background: Gallbladder mucinous adenocarcinoma (GBMAC) is a rare type of gallbladder malignant tumor, whereas little is known regarding the clinicopathological features and surgical outcomes of GBMAC., Methods: From January 2000 till December 2015, 54 GBMAC patients who underwent curative-intent surgical resection at our institution were retrospectively reviewed. We compared the clinicopathological features and surgical outcomes of these GBMAC patients with a relatively large cohort of surgically resected conventional gallbladder adenocarcinoma (GBAC) patients without existence of mucinous components., Results: The clinicopathological features of GBMAC were significantly different from conventional GBAC, including poorer tumor differentiation (P < 0.001), higher CA19-9 levels (P < 0.001), larger tumor sizes (P = 0.020), advanced AJCC tumor stage (P = 0.002), higher frequency of liver parenchyma invasion (P = 0.020), portal vein invasion (P = 0.003), lymph node metastasis (P = 0.016), lympho-vascular invasion (P < 0.001) and perineural invasion (P = 0.025). Relative to conventional GBAC patients, GBMAC patients showed significantly worse overall survival (OS) (29.0 vs 15.0 months; P < 0.001). Multivariate analysis confirmed the surgical margin (P = 0.046), tumor differentiation grade (P = 0.018), lymph node metastasis (P = 0.024), and presence of signet-ring cell component (P = 0.005) as independent prognostic factors influencing OS of patients with GBMAC., Conclusion: GBMAC always had more aggressive biological behaviors and poor survival outcomes even after curative surgery. Objective: We present molecular cytogenetic characterization of de novo concomitant distal 8p deletion of 8p23.3p23.1 and Xp and Xq deletion of Xp22.13q28 due to an unbalanced X;8 translocation detected by amniocentesis., Case Report: A 33-year-old primigravid woman underwent amniocentesis at 18 weeks of gestation because of a Down syndrome risk of 1/52 at the first-trimester maternal serum screening calculated from 0.29 multiples of the median (MoM) of pregnancy associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A), 1.14 MoM of free β-hCG and 0.46 MoM of placental growth factor (PlGF). Amniocentesis revealed a karyotype of 45,X,add(8)(p23.1). The parental karyotypes were normal. Array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) analysis on the DNA extracted from cultured amniocytes revealed a 137-Mb deletion of Xp22.13q28 and a 10.53-Mb deletion of 8p23.3p23.1. The karyotype thus was 45,X,der(8)t(X;8)(p22.13;p23.1). Prenatal ultrasound revealed pericardial effusion and skin edema. The pregnancy was subsequently terminated, and a 568-g malformed fetus was delivered with hypertelorism and low-set ears. Deoxynivalenol (DON) is universally detected trichothecene in most cereal commodities, which is considered as a major hazardous material for human and animal health. Intestine is the most vulnerable organ with higher concentration of DON than other organs, owing to the first defense barrier function to exogenous substances. However, the underling mechanisms about DON-induced intestinal toxicity remain poorly understood. Here, DON poisoning models of IPEC-J2 cells was established to explore adverse effect and the potential mechanism of DON-induced enterotoxicity. Results showed that DON exposure destroyed IPEC-J2 cells morphology. Results showed that DON exposure destroyed IPEC-J2 cells morphology. Intestinal epithelial barrier injury was caused by DON with increasing LDH release, decreasing cell viability as well decreasing tight junction protein expressions (Occludin, N-Cad, ZO-1, Claudin-1 and Claudin-3). Moreover, DON caused mitochondrial dysfunction by opening mitochondrial permeability transition pore and eliminating mitochondrial membrane potential. DON exposure upregulated protein and mRNA expression of mitochondrial fission factors (Drp1, Fis1, MIEF1 and MFF) and mitophagy factors (PINK1, Parkin and LC3), downregulated mitochondrial fusion factors (Mfn1, Mfn2, except OPA1), resulting in mitochondrial dynamics imbalance and mitophagy.
