The study aims to determine the principal motives of inward foreign direct investment, by foreign multinational companies, in India. The study also seeks to ascertain if the motives of inward foreign investment of multinational firms differed between the manufacturing sector and the services sector. The paper employed a survey approach, to collect data about the motives and benefits of inward foreign direct investment, in India. Statistical tools, like confirmatory factor analysis, independent sample t-test, were used. The study identified that the market-seeking, resource-seeking, and efficiency-seeking motives differed significantly between the manufacturing sector and service sector firms. However, the study concluded that the strategic asset-seeking motive of foreign direct investment, in India, was not significant.

Retrospective analysis of deaths because of electric shock from the medico-legal death records our college i.e. J.N.M.C., A.M.U., Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. Most of the deaths were of men having the age in between 11–50 years. All deaths were inadvertent and most part of them were during the time of monsoon as compared to the deaths in western countries where, baths, warmers or hair dryers were the source of electric shocks. The death rate reported because of electric shock was 0.34 per lakhs (100000) of the population in the present study as against the figures of 0.94 and 0.14 from Bulgaria and Canada respectively. A large portion of the deaths were either prompt or quick. It implies that individuals living at home did not have basic knowledge of dangers of electric shock. In this way mindfulness about utilization of good quality electric machines is the need of great importance.

The present day marketing is consumer as well as society oriented. The basic task of needs and wants satisfaction is performed by marketing management of all the companies. To accomplish this task of marketing, the management has to aware, attract and retain consumers for its offerings. Sales Promotion is one such tool which is extensively used by marketers to attract and retain consumers. It is used as an incentive or motivation for the consumers to try/buy the product being promoted. A lot of time, money and other resources are employed in this regard. It is thus very important to analyze the impact of different Sales Promotion techniques on Consumer Behavioral variables. The present study uses Structural Equation Modeling to analyze this impact. Discount and Buy-one Get-one (BOGO) have been taken for Sales Promotion (SP) while Product Trial (PT), Brand Loyalty (BL) and Spending More (SM) are the variables considered for Consumer Behavior. Moreover, the differences between garment and footwear segment have been explored. The data has been collected through self administered questionnaire using mall intercept method in Delhi-NCR.

History of electricity is not more than 300 years old as also the mortality related to it. With time, the inventions dependent on electricity made humans depend on it. Ever increasing dependency on industry and domestic needs on electricity is also exposing man to the injury by electric current and equipments running on it. The other source of such injury is lightning, which is very much life threatening due to the very high voltage content. An injury due to high voltage is often very morbid in nature due to instantaneous high energy production upon the contact with the surface of the body. Here we present a case of burn injury due to high voltage transmission wire coming in direct contact with abdominal wall a child leading to burning of the abdomen, scrotum and penis.

Person identification is the first and foremost aim to any crime scene investigator. Researchers have indicated that foot impression can provide more valuable information than fingerprints. Foot outline is the line tracing the outer margins of the fleshed foot and also represents the boundaries of the foot's impression in soft surfaces that produce a three-dimensional (3D) foot impression. Body weight is also an important parameter to obtain valuable information in crime investigation. It is shown that there is correlation between foot impression (3D) and human body weight. Literature review shows that very limited studies were conducted to determine body weight from foot outline measurements. The present study aimed to determine body weight from foot outline length measurements among Lun Bawang population in Malaysia. The result of the investigation provided regression equations to determine body weight from foot outline length anthropometry.

The primary objective of the forensic anthropologist is to provide information for human identification. Footprint forms a valuable physical evidence to solve crime. Literature review shows that limited studies were conducted to determine body weight for forensic work. Body weight information may not only assist in creating a more complete biological profile but may also provide insight into other forensic considerations. Body weight involves a variety of cultural and physical variables. The purpose of this study is to assess the utility of footprint measurements in weight estimation among Bidayuh population, mostly residing in east Malaysia. Stature estimation from foot impression plays a vital role in forensic investigation. The present study aimed to estimate stature from bilateral foot outlines collected from 230 consented Lun Bawangs ethnics (115 males, 115 females) residing in East Malaysia, Borneo Island and to generate population-specific regression equations. Ten outline length measurements were taken viz. five from left and five from right foot. The results show significant positive correlation between height and foot outline lengths. The correlation coefficient (R) in pooled sample (0.858–0.879) is found to be comparatively higher than those of individual male (0.693–0.754), and female foot outlines (0.712–0.792). Linear regression analysis presents smaller error of estimate. Thus, population specific regression equations were derived for stature estimation from foot outlines lengths among Lun Bawangs population of East Malaysia even when sex remains unknown.

Background: Decreased physical activity, sedentary lifestyle, changes in food habits have led to significant rise in the number of obese children. With an increase in number of children preferring fast food products over a balanced diet, the condition has become more prevalent. Food items such as soft drinks, refined breads are generally of low nutritive quality but have high cariogenic potential. Aim: To determine a correlation between the caries status and Body Mass Index (BMI) in school children aged 6-10 years in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Settings and Design: A total of 468 children were examined from 4 primary schools which were selected by simple random sampling method. Materials & Method: Prior to the dental and medical examination, informed consents were obtained from the parent’s/ guardian’s of the children. Dental caries was assessed using df-t and DF-T index. The height of the children was measured by a stadiometer and weight was measured by a portable digital weighing machine. BMI was classified according to World Health organization classification. Statistical Analysis used: Student t-test and Chi-square test were used and all statistical tests were conducted using IBM SPSS software (ver.20.0; IBM, Chicago, IL, USA). Results: 79.4% children were in normal range, 7.6% in underweight, 10.20% and 2.8% in overweight and obese range respectively. Caries free dentition was found in 52% of underweight children, 47.4% in normal weight children, 41.6% and 38.5% in overweight and obese children respectively. Mean df-t/DF-T score of the study population was 2.32. Conclusion: The present study showed a significant correlation between caries status and obesity, and it forces the challenge that is forced on preventive public health programs for more focus towards nutrition and physical activity. This study examines the usage of collection development and services in Women's College Libraries affiliated to Karnataka State Women's University, Vij ayapuruse, Karnataka, India. Here 85 questionnaires were distributed to the suitably selected librarians from the women's college libraries. Out of these, 58 (68.24%) questionnaires were returned and used for this study. The present study demonstrates and elaborates the various aspects of collection development and its services by women colleges libraries, statement showing the document collections, i.e., books, journals and journals subscription, non-book materials, opinion considered by the college while purchase of books, gifted books to the libraries, library automation software, and its services, and library and information networks. The article also highlights user's awareness about different types of services. Findings and suggestions of the study are given at the end of the article.

Among the various methods of identification, cheiloscopy is one of the most interesting emerging techniques. It is a method to establish the identity of a person based on the presence of grooves on the red part of human lips as various studies have revealed the unique nature of lip prints just like finger or footprints. Edmond Locard of France was the first to recommend the use of lip prints for individual identification. Since 1950, the Japanese has carried out extensive research in the matter. Lip prints at a scene of crime, apart from identification, may help to point as to the nature of crime, sex of the person involved, type of cosmetics used, habits or any pathological changes of lips. Credibility of lip prints as a human identification tool for evidential purposes is yet to be accepted by courts in India as literature reveals very little research done in this field. There is a need to review the various methods of recording and collection of the lip prints at the crime scene and also the means to develop the latent lip prints. This paper reviews in detail all the important aspects of cheiloscopy like its scope in crime investigation, limitations and current research carried out in this field.

Background : Research has demonstrated the possible therapeutic values of tetracycline hydrochloride (TTC-HCl) conditioning of the root surfaces with the use of membranes for G.T.R. to enhance new connective tissue attachment on the root surface. Objective : To evaluate the clinical outcomes of utilizing the bioresorbable membrane in the intrabony defects with and without the use of TTC-HCl root conditioning Study design: A case-control study. Setting : Department of Periodontics, Subharti Dental College, Meerut Uttar Pradesh, India.. Participants : 20 patients Sampling : Random sampling. Statistical Analysis : Data entry and statistical analysis were carried out using SPSS 10. Unpaired student "t" test was applied Results : On comparing the values of pocket depth(PD) and clinical attachment levels (CAL) of Group A and Group B patients at baseline, 3 and 6 months, a decrease in the PD and gains in CAL after the treatment were observed. Intergroup comparison of the treatment outcomes on PD and CAL revealed no statistically significant difference between the two groups. Conclusion : It was concluded that combining GTR technique with the TTC-HCl root conditioning does not improve the results in terms of clinical outcomes.

The availability of poisons and the deficiency of health services in the developing world is leading to a great economic and social set back. It has been found that easy access to large number of pesticides, rodenticides and other daily use chemicals and their ignorant use is leading to hazardous outcome in form of increased number of cases of poisoning related deaths. Recent industrialization and over use of insecticides has lead to a extensive proliferation of toxic chemicals. There is urgent need to devise mechanisms soon for strict regulation of availability and use of these chemicals. Other forms of poisoning includes over dose of prescription drugs such as hypnotics and anti-anxiety agents. Therefore there is need to put emphasis on regulation of dispensing these drugs over the counter and also developing newer antidotes for drug overdoses. With the above considerations there is need for further deepening our thought on prevention and regulation of drugs and chemicals.

Papillary serous carcinoma of the uterine cervix is a very rare tumour, and is a recently described variant of cervical adenocarcinoma. It is an aggressive tumour with unpredictable course and poor prognosis. The incidence of cervical adenocarcinoma is 5–15%. This variant accounts for less than 50 cases in literature, has bimodal age distribution with one peak occurring less than 40 years and other occurring greater than 65 years age groups. Here, we present a 53 year-old woman presented with severe low backache and lump abdomen of 4 months duration. Per vaginal examination showed endophytic growth high up in the cervix. Pap smear and cervical biopsy done. Histopathological examination of cervical biopsy revealed papillary serous adenocarcinoma. Later, we received hysterectomy specimen with regional lymph nodes, which showed tumour limited to endocervix.

The present paper attempts in examining cultural constraints by identifying the deprivation of girl child in terms of health and nutrition, which begins from her family and continues at the community level at large. India in general and Uttar Pradesh in particular is conspicuous for gender bias practices till date including in the areas of health and nutrition. Birth of a girl child is either not celebrated or if at all celebrated than with minimum rituals. Harmful traditional practices perpetuate deprivation of girl child in getting proper nutrition and health care. In this study, the indicators taken into consideration are initiation of breast feeding, exclusive breastfeeding throughout the first 6 months, clothing and birth ceremony for examining denial of girl child's right to health and nutrition as cultural constraint.

Degloving of the penis is reported rarely in forensic medicine as it has often been a topic of discussion in the surgical discipline. The first clause of Sec 320 IPC stands for emasculation discussed in legal medicine. Degloving of the penis may occur as a result of road traffic accidents, or direct injuries from assault, violent sexual activity specially sexual asphyxia; the ill effect of the tools in agricultural and and other machines which a person closely handles.

On 10 May 2002, the United Nations General Assembly urged all governments of the world to ‘put children first’, to leave no child behind and to ensure for every child a nurturing and safe environment that enables their physical health, mental alertness and emotional security. Every child has the right to be known, to be respected, to be safeguarded against suffering or fear and to be confident of a safe, peaceful and happy childhood, with caring attention an assurance, not a despairing doubt. India is among the countries that have declared their commitment to these rights. Unfortunately, the reality for millions of Indian children is neither safe nor peaceful nor happy. In this background, the Aligarh Model for child survival may be considered by different agencies for ensuring children's right to life.
