As part of a project to assess art and cultural assets of the City of Leipzig, a total of 35,000 index cards of the Leipzig public libraries have been digitized and transferred to the library management system using the metadata format MARC-XML. Preceded by a comprehensive test phase, the retrospective conversion project ran smoothly and efficiently to succeed in creating an online inventory of the music-specific historic library stock. Specialists from the music library and special collections branches, from cataloguing and digitizing units and the IT department worked in close collaboration with service providers from Leipzig and Vietnam to achieve this goal. This article seeks to provide an example of a scalable and achievable born digital ingest workflow for cultural heritage institutions of any size, including those with limited funding. Like many small archives, the University of Idaho (U of I) Library Special Collections and Archives (SPEC) has accepted born digital material when it arrives as part of analog collections for the last 20 years. However, the Library has faced numerous challenges similar to those of other small institutions when developing workflows for born digital preservation and ingest. These include lack of funding, systems, and policies. Despite a growing number of resources that support digital preservation work, among current best practices it is difficult to find scalable workflows for institutions with limited staff and funds. By implementing accessible open-source software and prioritizing preservation tasks, U of I Library has developed a low-cost way to implement systems for digital preservation with responsibilities that can be spread out among librarians and archivists with varying technical expertise. In April 2016, the Israel State Archives announced the most recent stage of an ambitious project to digitize all of their holdings (potentially 400 million pages of material): the new archival website was ready online (Aderet). With the new website came the ability to request digital copies of documents, which would be available on the website within two weeks of the request (Aderet). However, researchers would now at the very least be discouraged from requesting access to the paper documents (Lozowick), or, in the worst-case scenario, be refused access to anything except the website (Baron and Newhall). Local scholars (including a prominent professor of history at Tel Aviv University), the Akevot Institute for Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Research, and the Middle East Studies Association of North America (which publishes the prestigious International Journal of Middle East Studies) registered concern with the restriction of physical access to the archive and issued public calls for a reversal of the decision (Akevot Institute). The conflict was between perceived best practices of digitization and of archival stewardship (represented by the State Archivist Dr. Yaacov Lozowick) on the one hand, and standards and expectations for scholarly research on the Middle East, which largely depends on archival and rare book collections, on the other. Libraries today face the same challenges that they always have faced, but with the additional dimension that the world of computers engenders. Policies and practices have been developed for deterring theft and for recovering stolen library materials in the analog world, but we are in an incunabula period for doing the same for digital documents-images and pictorial and sound materials. One means of protection for both kinds of materials is marking them indelibly. This can be done in a variety of ways for physical materials, but there is a new world of electronic marking that is in its infancy. This practice, called Steganography, creates digital watermarks that can be hidden, but they may also be detected and erased. The article discusses the singling out of a book in July 2011 at the library of the Psychologyische Institut (Psychology Institue) of the Frei Universität Berlin (Free University Berlin) in Berlin, Germany during a collection integration project, by Wilhelm Wundt, who is considered the founder of Psychology as an independent academic discipline. The book belonged to a German Jewish pharmacist named Leopold Scheyer who was dispossessed of the book during the rule of the National Socialist party in Germany.

Dance is an ephemeral art in that it is primarily a visual and auditory medium that occurs in real-time within a performance. However, there is a wealth of extant primary sources in both print and non-print formats that are steadily being collected, stored and preserved in archives dedicated to the discipline of dance around the world in an attempt to provide some permanence to that ephemerality. There has been a growing movement over the past few decades to document materials belonging to this discipline, chiefly in the modern dance and ballet arenas; these movements sprang up not only to preserve the historical and organizational aspects for both posterity and the educational benefit of others inside and outside of the discipline, but also to capture the art form's essence and spirit. An examination of several dance archives and special collections in Great Britain, Australia, and America, as well as dance repository-related articles demonstrates how these small but thriving collections are capturing the essence of dance through typical archival activities such as acquisitions, processing, preservation, and providing access while dealing with the same logistical and budgetary limitations that archives of more general size and scope face. Information gleaned from this paper may be of use to researchers interested in the organizational, acquisition, collection development and preservation activities of such archives, as well as a general modern history of ballet and modern dance archives. The article focuses on the digital archive and website project of Harvard University's College Library that will highlight the literary works on the contributions of women during the Qajar dynasty in Iran from 1785-1925. It states that the title of the library's project is Women's Worlds in Qajar Iran (WWQI) which includes several writings and even paintings from women during the significant era. It also notes that the project will be the first to use the digital technology to emphasize the lives of women during the Qajar dynasty. At first, some characteristics of old stock indexing are presented, followed by an overview of the indexing situation in a number of libraries with important collections of early printed books. Afterwards, the results of an evaluation analysing the current situation of subject indexing of early printed books are reported, covering several union and library catalogues. The article focuses on the digitalization program of the Southern Methodist University's (SMU) Central University Libraries (CUL) on its unique special collections. It notes that the program aims to provide access to the collections through their CUL Digital Collections website. It mentions the nine collections that CUL's Norwick Center for Digital Services has uploaded in June-December 2008 including the student researches in text format, World War II photographs, and video archive series. The article focuses on the University of Florida's project, called the Retrospective Dissertation Scanning Project (RDSP). The project aims to make the entire university dissertation corpus available in full text on the Internet. The article focuses on the Plowshares Project which aims to improve the peace studies resources and expertise for undergraduate peace studies education at institutions. The project was made possible through a multi-million dollar grant from the Lily Foundation. The grand funded a collaboration between Earlham, Goshen and Manchester colleges. The library projects include a collection analysis if titles pertaining to peace studies in nine libraries and compilation of webliographies on peace studies education and peace studies topics.

The project's creation is important for understanding the process, challenges and success of the project. Many of them involve materials, from and collaboration with curators from SCUA. It is also important to understand the multifaceted role of sports at several universities in the U.S. specifically for universities with a long program history and, or successful sports history, sports play financial, societal, marketing and athletic roles.
