This study utilizes density functional theory (DFT) to investigate the adsorption of iron oxide clusters on the surface of coronene nanocages. The study explores five different adsorption geometries (P1–P5) using the B3PW91/6-311G (d, p) approach, comparing them to pure coronene. Electronic properties, including energy (hf), HOMO, LUMO, Fermi level, HOMO–LUMO gap, vertical ionization potential, electron affinity, chemical hardness, softness, and chemical potential, were analyzed compared to native coronene nanocages. The calculations revealed strong chemisorption in P1, attributed to significant charge transfer from coronene to the metal atom, resulting in altered positions of HOMOs and LUMOs and a reduced HOMO–LUMO gap (Egap). Across all geometries (P1–P5), electronic densities in HOMOs were concentrated on iron oxides, while in LUMOs, the electronic cloud was distributed throughout the structure. The diffusion of d-electrons from iron contributed to a more diffuse structure and a lower HOMO–LUMO gap (Egap), indicating N-type conduction. This study focusses on the synthesis of carboxymethyl guar gum (CMG) via monochloroacetic acid under alkaline conditions. The reaction conditions were also optimized during the course of experiment. Guar derivative with variable degree of substitution (DS) were prepared and were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The DS was determined quantitatively by titration method for each derivative. The synthesized guar gum derivatives, being the natural thickners, have been used in textile printing technology. Substituted guar gum has been proved environmental friendly thickener as compared to synthetic thickeners. Penetration properties, fixation ability, colour fastness, levelness and fabric handling was compared with alginate thickener (commercially available). Guar gum thickeners showed enhanced properties versus alginate thickener and can be used as an alternative to synthetic thickeners in view of its green, non-hazardous and economical derivatives. Guar gum is the outstanding natural thickener, stabilizer, gelling agent and could possibly be used in various industrial units including food, cosmetic, textile, oil fracturing and mining.

Currently, the green route for synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) using plants leaf extract is an emerging research area in nanotechnology. The present study was explored for synthesis, characterization and catalytic application of Ag NPs using Diospyros lotus fresh leaf extracts. Factors affecting the synthesis were optimized and optimum conditions were pH of 8.6, silver nitrate (AgNO3) concentration of 1.5 mM and 10 mL leaf extract. Formation of Ag NPs was observed by change in color of reaction mixture from pale yellow to reddish brown. The synthesized Ag NPs were characterized using UV-Vis spectrophotometer, EDX, XRD and SEM analyses. UV-Vis spectrophotometer showed maximum absorbance peak in the range of 407 nm at different time intervals indicating formation of Ag NPs. SEM and XRD analysis confirmed face centered cubic structure and crystalline nature of biologically synthesized Ag NPs with average particle size of 27 nm. The purity of synthesized Ag NPs was revealed by EDX. Finally, photo catalytic activity (PCA) of Ag NPs was studied and 72.91% decolorization of industrial waste water was obtained at 54 h. Some important parameters like pH, turbidity, conductance; TSS, TDS, sulphide, sulphates, etc. were also monitored before and after treatment with Ag NPs.

In this study, gamma/H2O2 and UV/H2O2 treatment procedures were used for the degradation of five dyes including reactive red PB (R-24), reactive orange P3LN (O-13), reactive turquoise blue PG (B-21), reactive golden yellow H2R (O-12) and reactive lemon yellow C4G L (Y-15). The dye samples of 50 or 100 ppm concentration were treated with either gamma (0–10 kGy) or UV radiations in the presence/absence of H2O2. This treatment resulted in the elimination of chromophoric groups and degradation of dye molecule into low molecular weight fragments. The H2O2 treatment caused the generation of hydroxyl radicals which degraded the pollutants non-selectively by means of chain oxidation process. The treatment effectiveness was increased when H2O2, which was used in conjunction with UV or gamma radiation and the treated water quality, improved significantly. However, the gamma/H2O2 treatment was found to be the more effective and efficient method as compared to the UV/H2O2 treatment for the removal of dyes from the water. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Considering the ecofriendly aspects of green synthesis, copper nanoparticles (Cu NPs) were produced using leaves extract of Citrullus colocynthis (Desert Gourd) as a reducing agent and CuSO4 as a Cu precursor. The characterization of synthesized Cu NPs was performed using various techniques including UV-Visible spectroscopy (UVS), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Energy dispersive X-ray (EDX). The tested NPs (face centered cubic) were determined to possess an average size of 17 ± 4.2 nm with spherical shape which exhibited highest absorption (λmax) at 560 nm. These NPs were assessed for their potential to function as a photocatalyst in degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye under UV light and a significant degradation (65 %) of MB dye was observed within irradiation period of 160 min. The Cu NPs displayed a promising antibacterial activity (ABA) against various bacterial cultures such as P. multocida, Botryococcus subtilis, S. aureus and Escherichia coli. While, appreciable antioxidant potential (AP) of tested nanoparticles was also revealed by various invitro antioxidant assays including total phenolic contents (TPC), total flavonoids contents (TFC) and diphenyl picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assays. The fabrication of Cu NPs through green route, the use of C. colocynthis extract is recommended as an effective antimicrobial, antioxidant and photocatalytic agent as green route offers various advantages over chemical synthesis. In view of ecobenign nature of green synthesis, iron oxide (Fe3O4) nanoflakes are synthesized via a green route. Three different vegetables (spinach, broccoli and pumpkin) extracts were used for the synthesis of Fe3O4 nanoflakes. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses confirm the formation of face centered cubic Fe3O4, while SEM analysis revealed the formation of nanoflakes. FTIR also confirm the Fe–O bands at 478 and 590 (cm−1) and the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) was observed at 280 nm. The magnetic properties were also investigated and Fe3O4 prepared using spinach extract shows relatively low saturation magnetization (Ms) of ∼66 emu/g as compared to pumpkin (105 emu/g) and broccoli (130 emu/g) with ∼25Oe coercivity value. The antibacterial activity of Fe3O4 nanoflakes was studied against Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and a highly promising antibacterial activity was observed. The selective fluorescence sensors are used for the analysis of toxic pollutants in the environment. In this study, phenol dansyl amide (PDA) was prepared as highly stable fluorescence ligand by using nucleophilic substitution reaction. Its interaction with eighteen different cations including Hg2+ and series of anions were investigated by using UV-visible and fluorescent spectrophotometry. However, PDA significantly indicated high sensitivity and selective quenching effect towards mercury ion. Furthermore, Density Functional Theory (DFT) along with the B3LYP method was implemented to explore minimum energy complex and fluorescence mechanism. The computed results revealed that among four possible optimized complexes of PDA and Hg+ ion, the first complex (PDA-Hg2+–I) was observed to be the most stable complex with the estimated energy difference of 8.91 kcal/mol and intermolecular charge transfer mechanism was observed in the same complex by HOMO and LUMO computation. The present work outlines the successful synthesis of selenium nanoparticles (Se NPs) stabilized with gum shellac (GS) and their use as photocatalyst for the enhanced degradation of dyes. Se NPs were synthesized by a simple and cost effective chemical reduction method using selenious acid, GS and sodium borohydride. Gum shellac was used as stabilizing agent. The orange red gum shellac-selenium nanoparticles (GS–Se NPs) were characterized by UV–Vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infra-red (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The morphology of these particles appeared to be uniform and spherical as observed in SEM images. Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopic profile showed the presence of elemental selenium, carbon and oxygen. The synthesized GS–Se NPs were investigated for their photo-catalytic efficiency towards degradation of methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) dye in aqueous media. Absorbance was measured at λmax 665 nm and 455 nm for MB and MO, respectively. Maximum degradation of MB in-comparison with MO obtained at 50 mg/L were 81.72 % and 71.42 % respectively. A very slow degradation rate was observed for the MO and MB in the absence of synthesized photocatalyst whereas greater percentage degradation was observed for the GS–Se NPs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Coal is one of the important sources of energies and its combustion produce sulfur dioxide in the atmosphere, which needs desulphurization to avoids the pollution issue. Coal desulfurization was performed using SnO2/TiO2 nanocomposite under solar light irradiation. The SnO2/TiO2 was synthesized by co-precipitation method and deposited on glass beads. The prepared SnO2/TiO2 was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transfer infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) techniques. The SnO2/TiO2 nanocomposite desulfurization efficiency was performed under solar light irradiation and process variables, i.e., irradiation time, H2O2 and pH were optimized for maximum desulfurization of coal. The SnO2/TiO2 nanocomposite showed promising efficiency and 60 % sulfur removal was achieved under optimum conditions. Based on efficiency, the SnO2/TiO2 nanocomposite has potential for the desulphurization of coal under solar light exposure, which will make the process highly economical feasible. Heavy metals presence in the potable water is a terrible dilemma notably for emergent countries and could be carcinogenic. Currently, interfacial polymerization (IP) was applied for the production of thin film nanocomposite forward osmosis (TFN-FO) membrane using polyacrylonitrile support. For this purpose, Zn (II)-imidazole metal Organic framework (MOF) was employed as a nanofiller into polymeric membranes this modification was found useful for the removal of heavy metals. Different characterization techniques like scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses were used for the assessment of morphology, elemental arrangement, functional groups and crystalline nature of the prepared FO membrane. It was observed that synthesized Zn-MOF based FO membrane displays high water flux by increasing the number of pores in the membrane. Additionally, this particular FO membrane was custom-made for lower reverse solute flux and concentration polarization. This ensures minimum withdrawal of salt from the draw solution (DS) to the feed solution (FS). So, the prepared Zn-MOF based FO membrane produce synergistic outcomes for the removal of metals and this strategy could possibly be used as novel way for removal of toxic pollutants. This study focuses on the synthesis of silver/copper bimetallic nanoparticles (Ag/Cu BMNPs) using Seidlitzia stocksii stem aqueous extract. The synthesized product was characterized by powder X-rays diffraction techniques (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Energy dispersive X-rays spectroscopy (EDX), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The bimetallic nature of the particles was confirmed by XRD whereas the elemental composition was verified by EDX analysis. FTIR and SEM were used to determine the presence of different functionalities and morphology of the prepared BMNPs respectively. The photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue was analyzed using solar light. Nearly 44 % degradation was observed for 70 min of irradiation with excellent rate constant. Results revealed that the synthesized material is a potential candidate in the field of photocatalysis. Moreover, this may be contributed to presence of BMNPs. The study focusses on the ecofriendly synthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) using aqueous extract of Chenopodium album leaves. The prepared NPs were characterized using techniques such as Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). UV–Vis spectroscopy exhibited absorption maximum (λmax) at 271 nm for CuO NPs. The average size of crystallite was observed as 17 ± 3 nm using XRD. SEM illustrated that the shape of fabricated NPs was spherical. Elemental composition was further supported by EDX. The photocatalytic nature of prepared NPs was assessed by degradation of atrazine and abamectin. Maximum degradation 53.61 % and 57 % of abamectin and atrazine was observed in presence of these particles after the 180 min exposure time. The pesticides removal followed the zero-order kinetics. Graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) are two-dimensional material of carbon having unique optical, electrical, mechanical and thermal properties, which could form composite material with different materials. In this work, we fabricated the nanocomposite of GO and rGO with silver (Ag). Modified Hummer method was adopted for the production of GO from graphite powder. This GO was reduced into rGO using ascorbic acid. On the reduction of GO into rGO, inter-planar distance increases which enhanced the properties of rGO as compared to GO. Turkevich method was adopted to produce the nanocomposite of GO and rGO with Ag. FTIR was performed to confirm the different functional group in the desired product. XRD spectra of rGO have broad hump shaped peak which reflects the amorphous structure or lattice and proposed rGO composite as a better membrane material than GO composite for water purification. Similarly, the Raman spectra shows the lower value of D and G band for rGO than GO. Results revealed that methylene blue dye was degraded up to 79.36 % using rGO-Ag composite. Nanoparticles synthesised using natural resources is a cost-effective and ecofriendly technique with a number of advantages. In current work, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have been synthesized using the extract of Fragaria ananassa seeds. The extract was used as a source of phytochemicals that can act as reducing and stabilizing agents. The characteristics of AgNPs were determined by UV/Visible, FTIR, SEM, XRD and Dynamic light scattering (DLS) techniques. The appearance of the distinctive absorption peak in UV-visible spectra at 430 nm confirmed the formation of AgNPs. The involvement of different bioactive functional groups with AgNPs was authenticated by FTIR studies. Particle size and morphology was confirmed by DLS, SEM and XRD analysis. The catalytic potential of AgNPs for the removal of poisonous organic dyes, brilliant green (BG) and methyl orange (MO) was also tested. Effect of different parameters including the catalyst concentration, dyes concentration and presence of different salts on the degradation of dyes was investigated. Nano-size and well-distributed nature of AgNPs, BG and MO dyes were degraded rapidly individually as well as simultaneously. The degradation process obeyed pseudo first order kinetics. Authors concluded that AgNPs synthesized using environment friendly and cost-effective method, can be used as a new tool to combat pollution caused by carcinogenic organic dyes. The coal is an imperative source of energy, which on combustion, it emits sulphur dioxide, which cause air pollution. In the present study, microwave mediated desulphurization of coal was investigated and input variables were optimized by response surface methodology (RSM). The proximate analysis and ultimate analysis report indicate the sample belongs to subbituminous having sulphur (6.96%), volatile matter (34.5%) and calorific value (5099 kcal/kg). Under microwave irradiation, up to 68% of sulphur was leached in alkaline medium. The particle size of coal, concentration of potassium hydroxide (KOH), microwave exposure time and power of microwave radiation were systematically optimized for maximum desulphurization of the coal. Under optimum conditions of the process variables, 63.06% desulphurization of coal was achieved. The optimum levels of process variables are as, particle size 500 µm, irradiation time 8.54 min, radiation power 720 W and concentration of KOH 15% (w/v). This study focusses on the adsorption efficiency of cotton pod (Gossypium arboreum) for biosorption of direct red (DR) 80 dye. The effect of dye concentration, pH, shaking time, adsorbent dose and temperature was considered to evaluate the adsorption efficiency of the cheapest raw material on the removal of dye. Various concentrations (10–50 ppm) were examined and maximum percentage removal of the adsorbent was obtained at pH 1 with adsorbent dose of 0.9 g and shaking time of 60 min. To enhance the adsorption efficiency of the adsorbent, the cotton calyx was treated with FeSO4.7H2O and investigated the removal of the raw adsorbent and the composite. It was examined that the removal efficiency of the composite is more than that of raw adsorbent. The composite was more efficient as dye removal reached up to 97%. FTIR of the composite shows an additional peak at 650 cm−1 for presence of Fe-O group and confirmation of composite formation. SEM micrograph showed that the particles in composite are more packed compared to the raw adsorbent. Mathematical models were applied and kinetic studies also have been done to provide better results regarding to the experimental data. A facile and green approach to extract silica from the coal fly-ash waste is extremely critical for environmental sustainability and economically suitable. In this study, we have used acid-alkali coupled approach to improvised the proficiency of the extraction process. The sodium hydroxide (NaOH) soaking results the formation of the sodium silicate (Na2SiO3) solution then pure silica was obtained by heating at high temperature; this coupled route-way results better yield of silica (SiO2) which is ∼ 40 g. The efficiency of pure silica is not enough to remove toxic effluents from the aqueous media. A highly versatile approach of composite formation was adopted to fabricate silica-clay composite using kaolinite-clay and extracted silica. Both materials, extracted silica and its silica-clay composite were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) method, X-ray diffraction technique (XRD) and Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy (FTIR). The silica-clay composite showed plate-tubular like morphology with enormous binding sites available for the sorption pollutants like organic dyes. It has shown excellent sorption of methylene blue (MB) efficiency of 131.5 mg/g, while silica furnished the sorption of 70.5 mg/g. Sol-gel auto combustion method was adopted to fabricate magnesium ferrite (MgFe2O4) nanoparticles. The structural and morphological properties was studied by XRD, FTIR, and SEM analysis. The average particle sizes of MgFe2O4 was in the range of 35–55 nm. The octahedral & Tetrahedral bond lengths, RAE (tetrahedral edge length), RBE (shared octahedral edge length) and RBEU (individual octahedral edge length), cationic radii (tetra and octa-sites) were also determined. The magnetic strength also showed direct reliance on bond angle and indirect to bond length. Hoping length La and Lb and bond angles are also measured. The frequency dependent conductivity and dielectric properties of MgFe2O4 were investigated by Impedance analyzer. The photocatalytic activity (PCA) is appraised against MB (methylene blue) dye and MgFe2O4 calcined at 800 °C showed promising degradation (78%) under visible light irradiation. Environmental pollution is the major issue of 21st century. The toxic industrial effluents are crucially damaging aquatic environment, in the form of heavy metals, dyes and acids. The heavy metals are toxic, carcinogenic, non-degradable and therefore must be removed to save natural environment and human health. Batch sorption efficiency of Momordica Charantia L. stem and root (MCS and MCR) was studied for Cr(VI) metal ions removal under controlled adsorption parameters. The adsorbed and residual concentration of Cr(VI) was determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). The adsorbent surface morphology was determined by FTIR, BET, SEM and elemental analysis by EDX. The Freundlich and Langmuir equilibrium isotherm and pseudo 1st and 2nd order kinetic models were studied to understand bio-sorption mechanism. The Freundlich isotherm and pseudo 2nd order kinetic was best fitted model for MCS and MCR bio-sorption process. The maximum Langmuir adsorption capacity (qmax) was 312.50 and 400 (mg/g) for MCS and MCR respectively. The trend of removal efficiency (%) and metal uptake (qe) was in order as MCS > MCR. All data was statistically analyzed using mean values ± standard deviation (SD). This study focusses on the synthesis of polyaniline (PANI) and polyaniline base adsorbent utilizing Citrus limon leaves (CL) powder. The polyaniline base adsorbent with C. limon was synthesized using the same process as polyaniline synthesis, but with the addition of leaves powder. PANI and PANI based adsorbent with C. limon leaves powder (PANI/CL) were characterized by Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR), UV-Visible spectroscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). This synthesized material was employed for the removal of congo red (CR) dye from industrial wastewater. Furthermore, the Langmuir, Temkin and Freundlich isotherms were also applied to evaluate experimental results. PANI is an efficient adsorbent for CR removal with 71.9 mg/g, while PANI/CL is an efficient adsorbent with 80 mg/g removal of dye according to a comparison of maximal adsorption capabilities. The data concludes that the prepared adsorbents could possibly be employed for the removal of toxic dyes from industrial effluents at large scale and ultimately could help in improving the environment. In the present study, biological method was opted to synthesize ZnO NPs from Rumex dentatus plant. 0.1 M solution of zinc nitrate hexahydrate is mixed with the aqueous solution of R. dentatus plant leaves extract. The proportion of each solution was 1:1. Extract of plant leaves act as reducing agent. Firstly, the color changed from dark green to brown was observed and precipitates of light brown color appeared. Characterization of produced ZnO NPs was done using UV–Visible spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-rays (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectroscopy. The prepared ZnO NPS shows maximum absorption at 373 nm, in UV–Visible range. The shape of synthesized ZnO NPs is displayed by SEM. XRD analysis explains the average size of NPs is 6.19 nm. EDX tells about the percentage composition of synthesized ZnO NPs. Antibacterial analysis declared the NPs as good antibacterial agents. Cobalt doped nickel ferrites were fabricated by sol gel route and the dielectric constant, tangent loss and AC conductivity were investigated as a function of Co doping. The X-ray diffractometer characterization confirmed that the CoxNi1−xFe2O4 with doping concentration (x = 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5) have cubic spinel structure. In the XRD spectrum there appear extra peaks of Fe2O3 as an impurity that is gradually disappear by increasing doping ratio of cobalt ions, which is an indication of high crystallinity. The structural parameters (lattice constant, grain size, dislocation density, X-rays density and packing factor) are greatly influenced by the doping of cobalt atoms i.e., lattice constant increases. The crystal size increases from 30 to 42.26 nm by cobalt substitution in the pure nickel ferrites. The Fourier Transform IR Spectroscopy indicate shift in peaks to lower frequency region because cobalt doping reduced binding energy between metal ion and oxygen ions. Atomic structure of cobalt doped nickel ferrites examined by the Raman spectroscopy. CoxNi1−x Fe2O4 shows Raman mode at ∼285, ∼477, ∼563, ∼624 and ∼704 cm−1. This study reports green synthesis and characterization of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) from Sophora mollis leaf extract. The use of S. mollis extract for preparation of Ag NPs was investigated using different techniques. Dark brown color indicates formation of nanoparticles. Fourier transform infra-red (FTIR) analysis revealed that plant extract act as a reducing and capping agent. Morphological aspects of Ag NPs were ascertained by means of SEM studies. Energy dispersive and FTIR spectroscopy results showed chemical composition and plant extract functionality respectively. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed particle size of 70 nm. Antibacterial activity of NPs was investigated by disc diffusion and minimum inhibitory concentration method. Antioxidant activity of NPs was shown by DPPH assay. The photo catalytic efficiency of synthesized Ag NPs was evaluated by degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye under UV irradiation. Ag NPs degraded MB dye up to 88% in 160 min. It is concluded that these NPs could be employed for degradation of toxic industrial effluents. This study focusses on the production of biodiesel by reacting the heterogeneous based nano-catalysts with used cooking oil in the presence of methanol. The CZO nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized by co-precipitation method and characterized by different techniques. Biodiesel was characterized by the gas chromatograph (GC) and Fourier Transform Infra-red Spectroscopy (FTIR). Optimum conditions for the maximum biodiesel yield (90%) were 0.2% (w/w) catalyst dose, 3:1 methanol to oil ratio, 50 °C reaction temperature, 150 min reaction time and 136 rpm stirring speed. The kinetic modeling and the thermodynamic factors like enthalpy (ΔH), activation energy (Ea), entropy (ΔS) and free energy (ΔG) were operated on all the data. Mean and standard deviation was used for analysis of data. The results indicate the maximum biodiesel yield under the optimum reaction conditions, which is promising to reduce the pollution such as air pollution and greenhouse effect for sustainable environmetal development. A series of cobalt ferrite nanoparticles were prepared using hydrothermal process by varying the reaction temperature. The structural, magnetic and dielectric properties have been studied with the help of X-ray diffractometer (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and impedance analyzer respectively. XRD spectra of all samples confirmed the formation of cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4) nanoparticles (NPs). The lattice constant 'a' for temperature series samples is averaged around 8.4023 Å. Crystallite size of temperature series is calculated by Debye–Scherer formula that lies in the range of 15.04–20.49 nm. Its values increase because the chance of coalescence increases by increasing temperature. The maximum packing factor is obtained for the sample with highest reaction temperature. From VSM data, we get the M–H hysteresis curves for complete temperature series which confirms the magnetic nature. The maximum saturation magnetization 150.67 emu/g is obtained for the sample prepared at highest temperature. Different magnetic parameter such as saturation magnetization, coercivity, retentivity, squareness ratio, anisotropy constant and magneton number has been calculated from VSM data. AC response of all prepared ferrites was studied with impedance analyzer of frequency range 20 Hz to 20 MHz. Ferrites are the insulating materials, so, eddy current does not induce in transformer cores made of ferrite materials. This paper focusses on the synthesis of cobalt vanadate (CoVO4) nanoparticles (NPs) by precipitation method. This was further augmented by assistance from microwave. Nanotechnology has been a wonderful tool with the promising application in different fields of life. The CoVO4 NPs synthesized by microwave assisted precipitation method was characterized by advanced techniques such as X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Ultraviolet visible spectroscopy (UV–vis) techniques. Rhodamine B (RhB) dye was used to evaluate the photo catalytic activity (PCA) of NPs by degradation of dye. The conditions were optimized for maximum degradation of dye. The NPs were in the nano flowers form and the size was ≤100 nm. The results regarding degradation of RhB was through PCA were promising; 83% dye was degraded at pH 10, reaction time 160 min and catalyst dose 1 g. In the present investigation, ZnO, CuO and Fe2O3 were prepared via green route and utilized for the sequestration of DGY (Direct Golden Yellow) dye. Affecting variables i.e., temperature, contact time, adsorbent dose and pH were optimized for maximum sequestration of dye from aqueous medium. The pH 2, adsorbent dose 0.1 g/50 mL dye solution, temperature 30 °C and 50 mg/L dye initial concentration were best levels for efficient dye adsorption and equilibrium was attained in 30 min reaction time. The dye sequestration on to ZnO, CuO and Fe2O3 was an exothermic process. Freundlich and Temkin adsorption isotherms explained well the dye adsorption onto nanoadsorbents and dye adsorption followed pseudo first order kinetic model. Effect of electrolytes and heavy metal ions was also investigated and both affected the adsorption process significantly. In the presences of surfactant/detergent, the removal of dye was reduced and 0.5 N NaOH efficiently desorbed the dye from nanoadsorbents. This study focuses on evaluation of degradation aptitude of white rot fungus (Coriolus versicolor) against Indosol Turquoise FBL dye. The outcome of numerous parameters including pH, temperature, carbon sources, nitrogen sources, C/N ratio and effect of dye concentration were studied. Maximum decolorization (99.896%) of Indosol Turquoise FBL was obtained by C. versicolor under optimized conditions. After three days, the maximum dye degradation (98%) was observed at pH 4 and 30 °C. Six carbon sources fructose, glucose, maltose, sucrose, rice bran and wheat bran were used and 96.66% degradation was observed by maltose at its optimum growth concentration (0.1 g/100 mL). Various nitrogen sources were employed for decolorization but ammonium nitrate decolorized dye up to 98.05%. The activity of three different enzymes laccase, Lignin peroxidase (LiP) and Manganese peroxidase (MnP) were calculated. The dead biomass of White rot fungus (WRF) was used for biosorption experiments. Maximum q (36 mg/g) was obtained at pH 2, at 30 °C using 0.05 g biosorbent. An increase in the q value was observed with increase in dye concentration. Freundlich adsorption isotherm and pseudo second order kinetics were followed by the data. Wastewater treatment coagulation is one of the most important physicochemical operations used in industry. The adsorption capability of marigold leaf powder, tea waste and ferrous sulfate was investigated for domestic and tannery effluents. These adsorbents significantly affected the pH, electrical conductivity (EC) and turbidity of wastewater. Maximum decrease in all the attributes was observed for 10 g of adsorbents application. All the adsorbents significantly affected the physiochemical attributes of both wastewaters. Similarly, maximum adsorption potential was observed in case of tea waste powder. Maximum decrease in all physiochemical attributes such as pH (15%), EC (21%), turbidity (54%), total dissolved solids (TDS; 36%), total suspended solids (TSS; 43%), total hardness (TH; 52%), chloride contents (59%) and phosphate contents (60%) was observed with the application of 10 g of tea waste. Regarding the heavy metals, maximum decrease for cadmium (Cd; 47%), lead (Pb; 81%), arsenic (As; 44%), copper (Cu; 75%), iron (Fe; 49%), chromium (Cr; 68%) and zinc (Zn; 64%) was observed in same treatment. The decreasing order in terms of their adsorption potential for coagulants was tea waste > marigold leaf powder > ferrous sulfate. However, for the wastewater, the maximum effect of adsorbents was observed in case of domestic wastewater as compared to the tannery water. Water gets polluted by industrial effluents, mainly composed of heavy metals and organic materials. Water soluble heavy metals can be taken up by living organisms. Chromium mainly occurs in the form of chromate and cationic hydroxo complexes in water. Apart from conventional methods of heavy metal removal, there are some novel approaches such as using dendrimers for removal of heavy metal. Dendrimers are extremely branched nano sized polymers with a three-dimensional symmetry around a core that imparts poly functionality. PAMAM (poly amido amine) dendrimers having ethylene diamine as core and methyl acrylate as repeating unit was divergently synthesized. Characterization of PAMAM dendrimers was evaluated by UV–Vis spectroscopy, zeta sizer, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. Zero generation dendrimers have amine terminal groups, showed intense amide group peak at 1596.76 cm−1. The λmax value was 278 nm. SEM exhibited spherical shape for full generation while needle like structure for −0.5 generation. Evaluation of chromium removal from wastewater has been done by atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). The data revealed that optimal removal of Cr occurs at dendrimer concentration of 5 mL, Cr concentration of 300 ppm, contact time of 2 min and pH 7. A nanocomposite electrode, obtained by combining two high performance perovskite materials, such as lanthanum strontium cobalt ferrite, La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3−δ (LSCF) and gadolinium doped ceria, Ce0.85Gd0.15O1.5 (GDC), were investigated as a promising cathode for moderate temperature solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). The synthesized material has good conductivity and catalytic performance. The purpose of this synthesis was to prepare a stable and highly performing nanocomposite cathode material. In this research work, LSCF and GDC were separately synthesized by co-precipitation and solid-state reaction method to gain a homogeneous perovskite phase. Varying concentrations of LSCF–GDC composite with GDC (10 wt.%, 20 wt.% and 30 wt.%) were synthesized followed by calcination at 600 °C to remove water content and to achieve an adequate porous structure for oxygen absorption and desorption. These fabricated LSCF, GDC, and the nanocomposite specimens were characterized for microstructure, particle size etc. via. X-ray diffraction method (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the laser particle size analyzer. In this study, different organic (moringa and neem leaf powder) and inorganic (alum) coagulants were used for the wastewater treatment. Results revealed that all the coagulants at various doses significantly affected the pH, electrical conductivity (EC) and turbidity of wastewater. The maximum decrease in all the attributes was observed when 10 g of coagulants were used. Similarly, maximum adsorption potential was observed in case of moringa leaf powder. Maximum decrease in all physiochemical attributes such as pH (13%), EC (65%), turbidity (75%), total dissolved solids (TDS; 51%), total suspended solids (TSS; 48%), total hardness (TH; 29%), chloride contents (66%) and phosphate contents (44%) was observed. Regarding the heavy metals, maximum decrease for Cadmium (Cd; 96%), Lead (Pb; 88%), Arsenic (As; 23%), Iron (Fe; 90%), Manganese (Mn; 96%) and Zinc (Zn; 48%) was observed in same treatment. The decreasing order in terms of their adsorption potential for coagulants was moringa leaf powder > Alum > neem leaf powder. However, the maximum effect of coagulants was observed in case of textile wastewater as compared to the hospital wastewater. Biosorption is one of the effective technique for removal of metals from aqueous solutions/industrial effluents. Present work is aimed to use low cost and ecofriendly material to remove the iron metal from aqueous solution which could possibly be used at industrial level. For this purpose, Bougainvillea spectabilis leaves were used for the production of charcoal. This charcoal was activated using HCl and HNO3. The AC shows promising efficiency for the adsorption of Fe II as a function of medium pH, contact time, adsorbent dose and temperature. Maximum adsorption was observed with 0.5–0.9 g adsorbent dose, 30 min contact time and at pH 3. Adsorption showed independence of temperature in the range of 30–70 °C. Among, Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms, the adsorbate followed Langmuir isothermal model. Among kinetics models, adsorbate followed pseudo second order kinetic model with R2 values of 0.9985 and 0.9996 for HCl treated and HNO3 treated AC, respectively. This study focuses on application of advanced oxidation (Photo-Fenton) processes to decolorize Basic Turquise Blue (BTB) X-GB 250% and Basic Blue (BB) X-GRRL 250% dyes. The percent decolorization was studied in terms of effect of variation in intensity of UV light at optimum conditions of all the parameters (pH = 3.0, H2O2 = 4.8 mM, FeSO4 = 1.6 mM, temperature = 50 °C, time = 80 min for BTB X-GB, and pH = 5.0, H2O2 = 5.6 mM, FeSO4 = 2.0 mM, temperature = 40 °C, time = 60 min for BB X-GRRL). Maximum decolorization was obtained at maximum intensity (15660 counts/min) of UV light as 96.17% for BTB X-GB and 88.48% for BB X-GRRL. First order, 2nd order and BMG kinetic models were used to analyze the data obtained for intensity of UV light. BMG model gives us the higher values of correlation coefficients for all data of both the dyes. This study focuses on the synthesis of iron molybdate [Fe2(MoO4)3] nanoparticles (NPs) using simple co-precipitation process. The catalyst synthesized was characterized by advanced instrumental techniques such as XRD, SEM, EDX, TGA and FTIR, which confirmed the successful synthesis of NPs. Organic compound Rhodamine B (Rh. B) dye was selected for photo-degradation due to its complex structure and carcinogenic nature. Results exhibited that at neutral pH, the synthesized catalyst is highly effective for the degradation of Rh. B. For 20 mg/L initial concentration with an initial pH of 6.7, the degradation efficiency of Rh. B reaches 98 % within 180 min. Furthermore, the solution pH (1 to 11) affects the catalytic activity. This indicates that at neutral and/or alkaline pH, the usage of iron molybdate overwhelms the efficiency of Fenton-like reaction. It has been observed that Fe2(MoO4)3 showed excellent stability as after recycling it for 9 times its performance remained effective. The potential of an economically cheap raw material (rice husk) was evaluated in the present study to remove dyes including reactive yellow 15 (RY15) and reactive red 241 (RR241) in single and multi-component systems. The adsorbent was modified and functionalized chemically using glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane, sulfur and silane to enhance the removal efficiency of pollutants. The modified rice husk was evaluated by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Fourier transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Batch adsorption study showed that the modified rice husk with silane graft (RHSi) had highest removal efficiency of both dyes with 20% more removal compared to raw rice husk. The sorption correlated well with Langmuir, Freundlich, SIPS and Redlich-Peterson models for adsorption. Highest sorption was obtained at 10 mg L−1 of dye, 50 °C, 200 mg g−1 of adsorbent dose and pH 4. The mixture of two dyes poorly fit to the original Langmuir but fit best to the Langmuir-like model. This indicates that competitive Langmuir-like model considers that the capacities of adsorbents are equal. Results showed that the components compete for the available binding sites on adsorbent surface. It was also indicated that silane grafting can offer comparatively more binding sites compared to the raw rice husk and single-solute isotherm parameters cannot used for multi-component solute system. Present study deals with use of agricultural based waste material Loquat (Eriobotrya japonica) seeds for removal of toxic Acid orange 7 (AO7) dye from aqueous streams. Batch mode experiments were conducted as function of pH, initial dye concentration, contact time and dosage of adsorbent. Biomass was used in native, pretreated and immobilized forms. Maximum removal was observed at pH 2. Desorption studies were done in order to determine degree of stability and regeneration of immobilized biomass. For equilibrium studies, Langmuir and Freundlich models were applied. Pseudo 1st & 2nd order models were applied on experimental data for reaction kinetics evaluation. Pseudo 2nd order model was best fit for present experiments. Nanoparticles (NPs) of Gd1−xMxCrO3 (M = La, Co, Bi) were synthesized by microemulsion techniques, involving simultaneous single ion substitution philosophy. Structural, magnetic, dielectric properties, morphology, elemental analysis and distribution size of fabricated nano-crystalline were determined. The techniques employed for investigation are X-ray diffraction (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), dielectric measurement and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), photoluminescence (PL) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), respectively. XRD pattern confirm that all the as-synthesized NPs have orthorhombic structure and successfully substituted of different metal ions into the regular crystal structure of GdCrO3. The lattice parameters X-ray density, bulk density, porosity and grain size were calculated from XRD pattern of Gd1−xMxCrO3 (M = La, Co, Bi) substituted and un-substituted GdCrO3. The magnetic hysteresis loop of fabricated product confirmed that the entire sample exhibits ferromagnetic behavior at room temperature. Textile industries use dyes to color their products and release waste water containing dyes, causing water pollution which is a serious problem for survival of human life on earth. The decolorization of basic turquise blue X-GB (BTB X-GB) 250% and basic blue X-GRRL (BB X GRRL) 250% dyes was examined by advanced (Fenton process) oxidation process. The effects of different parameters (initial dye concentration, pH, concentrations of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and reaction time) have been examined and optimum conditions were determined. It has been noted that percentage decolorization of both dyes (50 mg/L) increases with increase in concentration of H2O2. At optimum conditions (pH=3.0, H2O2=4.8 mM, temperature=50°C, time=80 min of BTB X-GB, and pH=5.0, H2O2=5.6 mM, temperature=40°C, time=60 min of BB X-GRRL) the decolorization obtained by Fenton process was 85.83% of BTB X-GB and 74.98% for BB X-GRRL. 1st order, 2nd order and BMG kinetic models were used to analyze the data. BMG model gives us the higher values of correlation coefficients for all data.
