For about one third of drugs in their production process, solubility is a big concern. Liquisolid technology is one of the most effective and promising strategy for enhancing the solubility and dissolution. This technique is used for upgrading the disintegration of inadequately water-soluble drugs by converting the liquid drug into powder form that is suitable for tableting. It is obtained by blending the suspension of the API with excipients known as carrier and covering agents. This technique increases dissolvability and absorption of API by suspending in its molecularly scattered form that leads to its increased bioavailability, free-flowing property and results in compactable powder mixtures. As improving the bioavailability of such drugs stays a difficult task for formulators, this liquisolid technology serves as a promising technique to overcome the poor solubility and dissolvability concerns. Purpose: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is caused due to higher levels of blood sugar in the body which is due to deficiency of the hormone; insulin and its impaired function. Among the complications associated with DM, wound healing is a prominent issue. Healing of wounds occurs by replacement of the damaged cells and tissue layers through coordination of cell migration and proliferation, deposition of the extracellular matrix, and remodeling of tissues. The presence of Diabetes mellitus makes the condition even worse by inhibiting or delaying the healing cascade and often results in untimely and inefficient wound recovery. In the present scenario, a wide range of biomaterials is being exploited to form an effective strategy for the management of diabetic wounds. The review was carried out to explore the potentiality of novel biopolymers, metal nanoparticle impregnated biomaterials, and fabricated dressings to alleviate the condition. Methods: This article outlines the employment of diverse natural biopolymers, their use and applications of the biopolymers in the fabrication of wound dressings that aid the management of diabetic wounds. Results/Outcome: On review of various published research literature, the natural biopolymers used to manufacture the wound dressings showed promising results in the successful management of diabetic wounds. Conclusion: On the assessment of various therapeutic outcomes of the fabricated wound dressings, the natural biomolecule sources were found effective for managing diabetic wounds. Purpose: Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a disease that depends on various causes and its progression is not properly elucidated, hence one treatment may not be effective. It has remained undiagnosed due to the absence of any prominent symptoms and the only way to diagnose NASH is by liver biopsy. At present, the treatments that are available act indirectly by either targeting liver functions or obesity. Many drugs like selonsertib, elafibranor are being explored and are still in clinical trials. In this article, we are focusing on the treatment of NASH through the herbal approach as they have no known adverse effects and contain several components that may be helpful to treat the disease. Methods: This paper summarizes the methods to separate the chemical components of flaxseed, its application in the treatment of NASH, and the challenges in designing an herbal product. Results/Outcome: On reviewing few published articles, it was shown to possess health benefits like decreasing blood pressure, preventing the risk of cardiovascular diseases, reducing cholesterol, hepatoprotective, antidiabetic, antisteatotic, and antioxidant activities. After separation of the chemical constituents, they are further used to formulate edible film, microcapsules, and so on. Conclusion: Some current researches on Herbal medicines have shown the potential to make the currently existing conventional medicine more efficient when these two systems of medicine are merged together. Nano sponges (NS) were formulated using ß-cyclodextrin as polymer and DMC as cross-linker following the hot melt method. For optimizing NS, the Box-Behnken design was adopted. The drug was loaded into Nano sponge by stirring method. The hydrogel was formulated using Carbopol. To know the compatibility between drug and polymer FTIR, DSC, HNMR studies were conducted. NS formulations were characterized by Particle Size, Entrapment efficiency, SEM, XRD studies. NS loaded hydrogel was evaluated by pH, in-vitro release, and spreadability studies. All prepared NS loaded with Terbinafine hydrochloride were assessed for particle size, physical properties, surface morphology, the yield of production, and entrapment efficiency. The Nano spongeloaded gel formulation was clear, viscous, homogeneous and white-colored. Nano sponges loaded in a plain Carbopol gel base were assessed for drug content, pH, ability to spread, in-vitro release, antifungal activity and stability. Hence it can be concluded that Terbinafine HCl loaded Nano sponges as the topical gel is suitable for the treatment of dermatophytosis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present study aimed to develop fibers of Diclofenac sodium (DS) by electrospinning technique and compressed into an orodispersible tablet by direct compression. The DS was compatible with the added excipients confirmed by the FTIR and DSC studies. There are no peaks of crystalline Diclofenac sodium visible in the XRD patterns of Diclofenac sodium loaded Eudragit L100 fibers which imply that the drug-loaded in the fibers was no longer present as crystalline, but fully converted into an amorphous state. The 1H NMR spectrum shows separate peaks for Diclofenac sodium and Eudragit L100 thereby indicating that there is intramolecular interaction between Diclofenac sodium and Eudragit L100, suggesting good compatibility. All formulations showed significant improvement in the rate of dissolution as compared to the crystalline active pharmaceutical ingredient. The results showed that the developed Diclofenac sodium loaded orodispersible tablet formulation was stable and can be potentially used in rheumatoid arthritis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: The aim of the present study was to formulate the self-micro emulsifying dispersible tablets of Ibuprofen (IB) and promote the dissolution and bioavailability of ibuprofen. Methods: Badam Gum (BG) was added as a adsorbent into optimized liquid self-micro emulsifying drug delivery system (SMEDDS) of ibuprofen to prepare Solid self-micro emulsifying dispersible tablets dispersible tablets by wet granulation method. Results: The composition of optimized liquid IB SMEDDS contains 17 % of Labrafil M was oil state, 28% of Cremophor EL as surfactant and 9.34% of PEG 400 as Co surfactant based on the result of Solubility test, selfemulsifying grading test, droplet size analysis, and ternary phase diagrams. Badam gum was added as a adsorbent into the optimized liquid IB-SMEDDS formulation to prepare the dispersible tablets by wet granulation compression method. The absorption capacity of silica (insoluble material) was higher (2.9g/g) than that of BG (0.9 g/g) (soluble material). Percent of IB released from silica within 45 min was less than 78%, while the percent of IB released from BG was 97.12%. In vitro reconstitution study confirmed the IB SMEDDS dispersible tablets had good quality. SEM images exhibited that the prepared IB-SMEDDS dispersible tablet had no effect on the morphology of the emulsion droplet of the SMEDDS system. Conclusion: In conclusion, this study would help to the application of the solid self-micro emulsifying technology to enhance solubility and dissolution of poorly water-soluble drug like Ibuprofen.
