In the celebrated paper by Jean Leray, published in JMPA journal in 1933, the invading domains method was proposed to construct D-solutions for the stationary Navier-Stokes flow around obstacle problem. In two dimensions, whether Leray's D-solution achieves the prescribed limiting velocity at spatial infinity became a major open problem since then. In this paper, we solve this problem at small Reynolds numbers. The proof builds on a novel blow-down argument which rescales the invading domains to the unit disc, and the ideas developed in a recent paper [Korobkov-Pileckas-Russo2020], where the nontriviality of Leray solutions in the general case was proved, and [Korobkov-Ren-2021], where the uniqueness result for small Reynolds number was established.

The paper is concerned with the problem of identifying the norm attaining operators in the von Neumann algebra generated by two orthogonal projections on a Hilbert space. In 1900, at the international congress of mathematicians, Hilbert claimed that the Riemann zeta function $\zeta(s)$ is not the solution of any algebraic ordinary differential equations on its region of analyticity. In 2015, Van Gorder considered the question of whether $\zeta(s)$ satisfies a non-algebraic differential equation and showed that it formally satisfies an infinite order linear differential equation. Recently, Prado and Klinger-Logan extended Van Gorder's result to show that the Hurwitz zeta function $\zeta(s,a)$ is also formally satisfies a similar differential equation \begin{equation*}\label{HurDE} T\left[\zeta (s,a) - \frac{1}{a^s}\right] = \frac{1}{(s-1)a^{s-1}}. \end{equation*} But unfortunately in the same paper they proved that the operator $T$ applied to Hurwitz zeta function $\zeta(s,a)$ does not converge at any point in the complex plane $\mathbb{C}$. In this paper, by defining $T_{p}^{a}$, a $p$-adic analogue of Van Gorder's operator $T,$ we establish an analogue of Prado and Klinger-Logan's differential equation satisfied by $\zeta_{p,E}(s,a)$ which is the $p$-adic analogue of the Hurwitz-type Euler zeta functions \begin{equation*}\label{HEZ} \zeta_E(s,a)=\sum_{n=0}^\infty\frac{(-1)^n}{(n+a)^s}. \end{equation*} In contrast with the complex case, due to the non-archimedean property, the operator $T_{p}^{a}$ applied to the $p$-adic Hurwitz-type Euler zeta function $\zeta_{p,E}(s,a)$ is convergent $p$-adically in the area of $s\in\mathbb{Z}_{p}$ with $s\neq 1$ and $a\in K$ with $|a|_{p}>1,$ where $K$ is any finite extension of $\mathbb{Q}_{p}$ with ramification index over $\mathbb{Q}_{p}$ less than $p-1.$, Comment: 18 pages. This paper presents some new propositions related to the fractional order $h$-difference operators, for the case of general quadratic forms and for the polynomial type, which allow proving the stability of fractional order $h$-difference systems, by means of the discrete fractional Lyapunov direct method, using general quadratic Lyapunov functions, and polynomial Lyapunov functions of any positive integer order, respectively. Some examples are given to illustrate these results., Comment: This paper proves the stability of fractional order h-difference systems using Lyapunov functions. This paper is devoted to a simple proof of the generalized Leibniz rule in bounded domains. The operators under consideration are the so-called spectral Laplacian and the restricted Laplacian. Equations involving such operators have lately been considered by Constantin and Ignatova in the framework of the SQG equation [P. Constantin and M. Ignatova, Critical SQG in bounded domains, Ann. PDE 2 2016, 2, Article ID 8] in bounded domains, and by two of the authors [Q.-H. Nguyen and J. L. Vázquez, Porous medium equation with nonlocal pressure in a bounded domain, Comm. Partial Differential Equations 43 2018, 10, 1502–1539] in the framework of the porous medium with nonlocal pressure in bounded domains. We will use the estimates in this work in a forthcoming paper on the study of porous medium equations with pressure given by Riesz-type potentials.

We investigate the time-asymptotically nonlinear stability of rarefaction waves to the Cauchy problem of an one-dimensional compressible Navier-Stokes type system for a viscous, compressible, radiative and reactive gas, where the constitutive relations for the pressure $p$, the specific internal energy $e$, the specific volume $v$, the absolute temperature $\theta$, and the specific entropy $s$ are given by $p=R\theta/v +a\theta^4/3$, $e=C_v\theta+av\theta^4$, and $s=C_v\ln \theta+ 4av\theta^3/3+R\ln v$ with $R>0$, $C_{v}>0$, and $a>0$ being the perfect gas constant, the specific heat and the radiation constant, respectively. For such a specific gas motion, a somewhat surprising fact is that, general speaking, the pressure $\widetilde{p}(v,s)$ is not a convex function of the specific volume $v$ and the specific entropy $s$. Even so, we show in this paper that the rarefaction waves are time-asymptotically stable for large initial perturbation provided that the radiation constant $a$ and the strength of the rarefaction waves are sufficiently small. The key point in our analysis is to deduce the positive lower and upper bounds on the specific volume and the absolute temperature, which are uniform with respect to the space and the time variables, but are independent of the radiation constant $a$., Comment: This paper has been accepted for publication in SCIENCE CHINA Mathematics

This paper is a very brief and gentle introduction to non-commutative geometry geared primarily towards physicists and geometers. It starts with a brief historical description of the motivation for non-commutative geometry and then goes on to motivate the subject from the point of view of the the understanding of local symmetries affordee by the theory of groupoids. We continue our study, initiated in our earlier paper, of Riemann surfaces with constant curvature and isolated conic singularities. Using the machinery developed in that earlier paper of extended configuration families of simple divisors, we study the existence and deformation theory for spherical conic metrics with some or all of the cone angles greater than $2\pi$. Deformations are obstructed precisely when the number $2$ lies in the spectrum of the Friedrichs extension of the Laplacian. Our main result is that, in this case, it is possible to find a smooth local moduli space of solutions by allowing the cone points to split. We study the compressible Euler equations in the isentropic nozzle flow. The global existence of an $L^{\infty}$ solution has been proved in (Tsuge in Nonlinear Anal. Real World Appl. 209: 217-238 (2017)) for large data and general nozzle. However, unfortunately, this solution does not possess finiteness of energy. Although the modified Godunov scheme is introduced in this paper, we cannot deduce the energy inequality for the approximate solutions. Therefore, our aim in the present paper is to derive the energy inequality for an $L^{\infty}$ solution. To do this, we introduce the modified Lax Friedrichs scheme, which has a recurrence formula consisting of discretized approximate solutions. We shall first deduce from the formula the energy inequality. Next, applying the compensated compactness method, the approximate solution converges to a weak solution. The energy inequality also holds for the solution as the limit. What can be said about the subalgebras of the polynomial ring, with minimal or maximal Hilbert function? This question was discussed in a recent paper by M. Boij and A. Conca. In this paper we study the subalgebras generated in degree two with minimal Hilbert function. The problem to determine the generators of these algebras transfers into a combinatorial problem on counting maximal north-east lattice paths inside a shifted Ferrers diagram. We conjecture that the subalgebras generated in degree two with minimal Hilbert function are generated by an initial Lex or RevLex segment., Comment: To appear in Mathematica Scandinavica

In this paper we completely classify the homogeneous two-spheres, especially, the minimal homogeneous ones in the quaternionic projective space $\textbf{HP}^n$. Suppose that $n\geq 1$ and that, for all $i$ and $j$ with $1\leq i,j\leq n$ and $i\neq j$, $z_{ij}\in{\mathbb T}$ are given such that $z_{ji}=\overline{z}_{ij}$ for all $i\neq j$. If $V_1,\dotsc, V_n$ are isometries on a Hilbert space such that $V_i^\ast V_j^{\phantom{\ast}}\!=\overline{z}_{ij} V_j^{\phantom{\ast}}\!V_i^\ast$ for all $i\neq j$, then $(V_1,\dotsc,V_n)$ is called an $n$-tuple of doubly non-commuting isometries. The generators of non-commutative tori are well-known examples. In this paper, we establish a simultaneous Wold decomposition for $(V_1,\dotsc,V_n)$. This decomposition enables us to classify such $n$-tuples up to unitary equivalence. We show that the joint listing of a unitary equivalence class of a representation of each of the $2^n$ non-commutative tori that are naturally associated with the structure constants is a classifying invariant. A dilation theorem is also established, showing that an $n$-tuple of doubly non-commuting isometries can be extended to an $n$-tuple of doubly non-commuting unitary operators on an enveloping Hilbert space., Comment: A remark on the relation between the dilation theorem in this paper and other dilation theorems for multiple operators in the literature has been added. In the paper, we construct conservative Markov processes corresponding to the martingale solutions to the stochastic heat equation on R + \mathbb {R}^+ or R \mathbb {R} with values in a general Riemannian manifold, which is only assumed to be complete and stochastic complete. This work is an extension of the previous paper of Röckner and the second, third, and fourth authors [SIAM J. Math. Anal. 52 (2020), pp. 2237–2274] on finite volume case. Moveover, we also obtain some functional inequalities associated to these Markov processes. This implies that on infinite volume case, the exponential ergodicity of the solution of the Ricci curvature is strictly positive and the non-ergodicity of the process if the sectional curvature is negative.

In this paper, we study the $H^s$-stability of the log-log blowup regime (which has been completely described in a series of recent works by Merle and Raphael) for the focusing mass-critical nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations $i\partial_tu+\Delta u+|u|^\frac4du=0$ in $\mathbb{R}^d$ with $d\geq3$. We aim to extend the result in [Colliander and Raphael, Rough blowup solutions to the $L^2$ critical NLS, Math. Adaptive regularization with cubics (ARC) is an algorithm for unconstrained, non-convex optimization. Akin to the popular trust-region method, its iterations can be thought of as approximate, safe-guarded Newton steps. For cost functions with Lipschitz continuous Hessian, ARC has optimal iteration complexity, in the sense that it produces an iterate with gradient smaller than $\varepsilon$ in $O(1/\varepsilon^{1.5})$ iterations. For the same price, it can also guarantee a Hessian with smallest eigenvalue larger than $-\varepsilon^{1/2}$. In this paper, we study a generalization of ARC to optimization on Riemannian manifolds. In particular, we generalize the iteration complexity results to this richer framework. Our central contribution lies in the identification of appropriate manifold-specific assumptions that allow us to secure these complexity guarantees both when using the exponential map and when using a general retraction. A substantial part of the paper is devoted to studying these assumptions---relevant beyond ARC---and providing user-friendly sufficient conditions for them. This paper is concerned with spherical harmonics, and two refinements thereof: complex harmonics and symplectic harmonics. The reproducing kernels of the spherical and complex harmonics are explicitly given in terms of Gegenbauer or Jacobi polynomials. In the first part of the paper we determine the reproducing kernel for the space of symplectic harmonics, which is again expressible as a Jacobi polynomial of a suitable argument. In the second part we find plane wave formulas for the reproducing kernels of the three types of harmonics, expressing them as suitable integrals over Stiefel manifolds. This is achieved using Pizzetti formulas that express the integrals in terms of differential operators.

In this paper we study curvature types of immersed surfaces in three-dimensional (normed or) Minkowski spaces. By endowing the surface with a normal vector field, which is a transversal vector field given by the ambient Birkhoff orthogonality, we get an analogue of the Gauss map. Then we can define concepts of principal, Gaussian, and mean curvatures in terms of the eigenvalues of the differential of this map. Considering planar sections containing the normal field, we also define normal curvatures at each point of the surface, and with respect to each tangent direction. We investigate the relations between these curvature types. Further on we prove that, under an additional hypothesis, a compact, connected surface without boundary whose Minkowski Gaussian curvature is constant must be a Minkowski sphere. Since existing literature on the subject of our paper is widely scattered, in the introductory part also a survey of related results is given.

When an upstream steady uniform supersonic flow impinges onto a symmetric straight-sided wedge, governed by the Euler equations, there are two possible steady oblique shock configurations if the wedge angle is less than the detachment angle -- the steady weak shock with supersonic or subsonic downstream flow (determined by the wedge angle that is less or larger than the sonic angle) and the steady strong shock with subsonic downstream flow, both of which satisfy the entropy condition. The fundamental issue -- whether one or both of the steady weak and strong shocks are physically admissible solutions -- has been vigorously debated over the past eight decades. In this paper, we survey some recent developments on the stability analysis of the steady shock solutions in both the steady and dynamic regimes. For the static stability, we first show how the stability problem can be formulated as an initial-boundary value type problem and then reformulate it into a free boundary problem when the perturbation of both the upstream steady supersonic flow and the wedge boundary are suitably regular and small, and we finally present some recent results on the static stability of the steady supersonic and transonic shocks. For the dynamic stability for potential flow, we first show how the stability problem can be formulated as an initial-boundary value problem and then use the self-similarity of the problem to reduce it into a boundary value problem and further reformulate it into a free boundary problem, and we finally survey some recent developments in solving this free boundary problem for the existence of the Prandtl-Meyer configurations that tend to the steady weak supersonic or transonic oblique shock solutions as time goes to infinity. It is an important problem in differential geometry to find non-naturally reductive homogeneous Einstein metrics on homogeneous manifolds. In this paper, we consider this problem for some coset spaces of compact simple Lie groups. A new method to construct invariant non-naturally reductive Einstein metrics on normal homogeneous Einstein manifolds is presented. In particular, we show that on the standard homogeneous Einstein manifolds, except for some special cases, there exist plenty of such metrics. A further interesting result of this paper is that on some compact semisimple Lie groups, there exist a large number of left invariant non-naturally reductive Einstein metrics which are not product metrics., Comment: 29 pages

The original formulae of Kuznetsov for $SL(2,\mathbb{Z})$ allowed one to study either a spectral average via Kloosterman sums or to study an average of Kloosterman sums via a spectral interpretation. In previous papers, we have developed the spectral Kuznetsov formulae at the minimal weights for $SL(3,\mathbb{Z}))$, and in these formulae, the big-cell Kloosterman sums occur with weight functions attached to four different integral kernels, according to the choice of signs of the indices. These correspond to the $J$- and $K$-Bessel functions in the case of $GL(2)$. In this paper, we demonstrate a linear combination of the spherical and weight one $SL(3,\mathbb{Z})$ Kuznetsov formulae that isolates one particular integral kernel, which is the spherical $GL(3)$ Whittaker function. Using the known inversion formula of Wallach, we give the first arithmetic Kuznetsov formula for $SL(3,\mathbb{Z})$ and use it to study smooth averages and the Kloosterman zeta function attached to this particular choice of signs., Comment: 12 pages, retracts the meromorphic continuation of the unweighted Kloosterman zeta function

It has been 40 years since Lawson and Osserman introduced the three minimal cones associated with Dirichlet problems in their 1977 Acta paper [13] . The first cone was shown area-minimizing by Harvey and Lawson in the celebrated paper [10] . In this paper, we confirm that the other two are also area-minimizing. In fact, we show that every Lawson–Osserman cone of type ( n , p , 2 ) constructed in [26] is area-minimizing.

This paper describes the analysis of Lagrange interpolation errors on tetrahedrons. In many textbooks, the error analysis of Lagrange interpolation is conducted under geometric assumptions such as shape regularity or the (generalized) maximum angle condition. In this paper, we present a new estimation in which the error is bounded in terms of the diameter and projected circumradius of the tetrahedron. Because we do not impose any geometric restrictions on the tetrahedron itself, our error estimation may be applied to any tetrahedralizations of domains including very thin tetrahedrons., Comment: To appear in Journal of Approximation Theory

Classical settings of discrete and continuous orthogonal expansions, like those of Laguerre, Bessel and Jacobi, are associated with second order differential operators playing the role of the Laplacian. These depend on certain type parameters that are usually restricted to a half-line, or a product of half-lines if higher dimensions are considered. Following earlier research done by Hajmirzaahmad, we deal in this paper with Laplacians in the above-mentioned contexts with no restrictions on the type parameters and bring to attention naturally associated orthogonal systems that in fact involve the classical ones, but are different. This reveals new frameworks related to classical orthogonal expansions and thus new potentially rich research areas, at least from the harmonic analysis perspective. To support the last claim we focus on maximal operators of multi-dimensional Laguerre, Bessel and Jacobi semigroups, with unrestricted type parameters, and prove that they satisfy weak type (1, 1) estimates with respect to the appropriate measures. Generally, these measures are not (locally) finite, which makes a contrast with the classical situations and generates new difficulties. A significant result of the paper is a new proof of the weak type (1, 1) estimate for the classical multi-dimensional Laguerre semigroup maximal operator.

In this paper we consider a new kind of inequality related to fractional integration, motivated by Gressman's paper. Based on it we investigate its multilinear analogue inequalities. Combining with the Gressman's work on multilinear integral, we establish this new kind of geometric inequalities with bilinear form and multilinear form in more general settings. Moreover, in some cases we also find the best constants and optimisers for these geometric inequalities on Euclidean spaces with Lebesgue measure settings with $L^p$ bounds.

This paper presents sufficient conditions for Hamiltonian paths and cycles in graphs. We study the behavior of zero-divisors of the double zeta-function $\zeta_2(s_1,s_2)$. In our former paper \cite{MatSho14} we studied the case $s_1=s_2$, but in the present paper we consider the more general two variable situation. We carry out numerical computations in order to trace the behavior of zero-divisors. We observe that some divisors approach the points with $s_2=0$, while other divisors approach the points which are solutions of $\zeta(s_2)=1$., Comment: 14 pages, 16 figures

This paper is concerned with the scattering problem for time-harmonic electromagnetic waves, due to the presence of scatterers and of inhomogeneities in the medium. We prove a sharp stability result for the solutions to the direct electromagnetic scattering problem, with respect to variations of the scatterer and of the inhomogeneity, under minimal regularity assumptions for both of them. The stability result leads to uniform bounds on solutions to the scattering problems for an extremely general class of admissible scatterers and inhomogeneities. The uniform bounds are a key step to tackle the challenging stability issue for the corresponding inverse electromagnetic scattering problem. In this paper we establish two optimal stability results of logarithmic type for the determination of polyhedral scatterers by a minimal number of electromagnetic scattering measurements. In order to prove the stability result for the direct electromagnetic scattering problem, we study two fundamental issues in the theory of Maxwell equations: Mosco convergence for H(curl) spaces and higher integrability properties of solutions to Maxwell equations in nonsmooth domains., Comment: 48 pages. Let v be a planar Lipschitz vector field. We prove that the r-th variation-norm Hilbert transform along v, composed with a standard Littlewood-Paley projection operator P_k, is bounded from L^2 to L^{2, \infty}, and from L^p to itself for all p>2. Here r>2 and the operator norm is independent of k\in \Z. This generalises Lacey and Li's result for the case of the Hilbert transform. However, their result only assumes measurability for vector fields. In contrast to that, we need to assume vector fields to be Lipschitz., To appear in the Proc. of the AMS. The aim of this paper is to derive and analyze a variational model for the joint estimation of motion and reconstruction of image sequences, which is based on a time-continuous Eulerian motion model. The model can be set up in terms of the continuity equation or the brightness constancy equation. The analysis in this paper focuses on the latter for robust motion estimation on sequences of twodimensional images. We rigorously prove the existence of a minimizer in a suitable function space setting. Moreover, we discuss the numerical solution of the model based on primal-dual algorithms and investigate several examples. This paper studies Riemannian manifolds of the form $M \setminus S$, where $M^4$ is a complete four dimensional Riemannian manifold with finite volume whose metric is modeled on the complex hyperbolic plane $\mathbb{C} \mathbb{H}^2$, and $S$ is a compact totally geodesic codimension two submanifold whose induced Riemannian metric is modeled on the real hyperbolic plane $\mathbb{H}^2$. In this paper we write the metric on $\mathbb{C} \mathbb{H}^2$ in polar coordinates about $S$, compute formulas for the components of the curvature tensor in terms of arbitrary warping functions (Theorem 7.1), and prove that there exist warping functions that yield a complete finite volume Riemannian metric on $M \setminus S$ whose sectional curvature is bounded above by a negative constant (Theorem 1.1(1)). The cases of $M \setminus S$ modeled on $\mathbb{H}^n \setminus \mathbb{H}^{n-2}$ and $\mathbb{C} \mathbb{H}^n \setminus \mathbb{C} \mathbb{H}^{n-1}$ were studied by Belegradek in [Bel12] and [Bel11], respectively. The Naruse hook-length formula is a recent general formula for the number of standard Young tableaux of skew shapes, given as a positive sum over excited diagrams of products of hook-lengths. In 2015 we gave two different $q$-analogues of Naruse's formula: for the skew Schur functions, and for counting reverse plane partitions of skew shapes. In this paper we give an elementary proof of Naruse's formula based on the case of border strips. For special border strips, we obtain curious new formulas for the Euler and $q$-Euler numbers in terms of certain Dyck path summations., Comment: 33 pages, 10 figures. In this paper, exact rate of approximation of functions by linear means of Fourier series and Fourier integrals and corresponding $K$-functionals are expressed via special moduli of smoothness. . Introduction is given in $\S 1$. In $\S2$ functions on the line $\mathbb{R}$ are studied. A typical (well-known) result is as follows: for each $2\pi$-periodic function in $L_p$ on the period, for any $p\in[1,+\infty]$ ($L_\infty=C$) and $r\in\mathbb{N}$, there is a trigonometric polynomial $\tau_{r,n}(f)$ of degree not greater than $n$ such that \big\|f-\tau_{r,n}(f)\big\|_p\asymp\omega_r\Big(f;\frac{1}{n}\Big)_p\asymp \inf\limits_{g}\Big\{\|f-g\|_p+\frac{1}{n^r}\big\|g^{(r)}\big\|_p\Big\}, where the positive constants in these bilateral inequalities depend only on $r$. In 1956, Tong established an asymptotic formula for the mean square of the error term in the summatory function of the Piltz divisor function $d_3(n).$ The aim of this paper is to generalize Tong's method to a class of Dirichlet series that satisfy a functional equation. As an application, we can establish the asymptotic formulas for the mean square of the error terms for a class of functions in the well-known Selberg class. The Tong-type identity and formula established in this paper can be viewed as an analogue of the well-known Vorono\"i's formula.

In this paper, we determine the bound of the valency of Cayley graphs of Frobenius groups with respect to normal Cayley subsets which guarantees to be Ramanujan. We see that if the ratio between the orders of the Frobenius kernel and complement is not so small, then this bound coincides with the trivial one coming from the trivial estimate of the largest non-trivial eigenvalue of the graphs. Moreover, in the cases of the dihedral groups of order twice odd primes, which are special cases of the Frobenius groups, we determine the same bound for the Cayley graphs of the groups with respect to not only normal but also all Cayley subsets. As is the case of abelian groups which we have treated in the previous papers, such a bound is equal to the trivial one in the above sense or, as exceptional cases, exceeds one from it. We then clarify that the latter occurs if and only if the corresponding prime is represented by a quadratic polynomial in a finite family., Comment: 12 pages

The {Farey fractions} $F_n$ of order $n$ consist of all fractions $\frac{h}{k}$ in lowest terms lying in the closed unit interval and having denominator at most $n$. This paper considers the products $F_n$ of all nonzero Farey fractions of order $n$. It studies their growth measured by $\log(F_n)$ and their divisibility properties by powers of a fixed prime, given by $ord_p(F_n)$, as a function of $n$. The growth of $\log(F_n)$ is related to the Riemann hypothesis. This paper theoretically and empirically studies the functions $ord_p(F_n)$ and formulates several unproved properties (P1)-(P4) they may have. It presents evidence raising the possibility that the Riemann hypothesis may also be encoded in $ord_p(F_n)$ for a single prime $p$. This encoding makes use of a relation of these products to the products $G_n$ of all reduced and unreduced Farey fractions of order $n$, which are connected by M\"obius inversion. It involves new arithmetic functions which mix the M\"obius function with functions of radix expansions to a fixed prime base $p$., Comment: 32 pages, 10 figures

In this paper we introduce a certain class of families of Hessenberg varieties arising from Springer theory for symmetric spaces. We study the geometry of those Hessenberg varieties and investigate their monodromy representations in detail using the geometry of complete intersections of quadrics. We obtain decompositions of these monodromy representations into irreducibles and compute the Fourier transforms of the IC complexes associated to these irreducible representations. In this paper, we consider a class of second-order evolution differential inclusions in Hilbert spaces. This paper deals with the approximate controllability for a class of second-order control systems. First, we establish a set of sufficient conditions for the approximate controllability for a class of second-order evolution differential inclusions in Hilbert spaces. We use Bohnenblust–Karlin’s fixed point theorem to prove our main results. Further, we extend the result to study the approximate controllability concept with nonlocal conditions and also extend the result to study the approximate controllability for impulsive control systems with nonlocal conditions. An example is also given to illustrate our main results.

In the first part of this paper, we consider nonlinear extension of frame theory by introducing bi-Lipschitz maps F between Banach spaces. Our linear model of bi-Lipschitz maps is the analysis operator associated with Hilbert frames, p-frames, Banach frames, g-frames and fusion frames. In general Banach space setting, stable algorithms to reconstruct a signal x from its noisy measurement $$F(x)+\epsilon $$ may not exist. In this paper, we establish exponential convergence of two iterative reconstruction algorithms when F is not too far from some bounded below linear operator with bounded pseudo-inverse, and when F is a well-localized map between two Banach spaces with dense Hilbert subspaces. The crucial step to prove the latter conclusion is a novel fixed point theorem for a well-localized map on a Banach space. In the second part of this paper, we consider stable reconstruction of sparse signals in a union $$\mathbf{A}$$ of closed linear subspaces of a Hilbert space $$\mathbf{H}$$ from their nonlinear measurements. We introduce an optimization framework called a sparse approximation triple $$(\mathbf{A}, \mathbf{M}, \mathbf{H})$$ , and show that the minimizer $$\begin{aligned} x^*=\mathrm{argmin}_{\hat{x}\in {\mathbf M}\ \mathrm{with} \ \Vert F(\hat{x})-F(x^0)\Vert \le \epsilon } \Vert \hat{x}\Vert _{\mathbf M} \end{aligned}$$ provides a suboptimal approximation to the original sparse signal $$x^0\in \mathbf{A}$$ when the measurement map F has the sparse Riesz property and the almost linear property on $${\mathbf A}$$ . The above two new properties are shown to be satisfied when F is not far away from a linear measurement operator T having the restricted isometry property.

We study intertwining operator algebras introduced and constructed by Huang. In the case that the intertwining operator algebras involve intertwining operators among irreducible modules for their vertex operator subalgebras, a number of results on intertwining operator algebras were given in [H9] but some of the proofs were postponed to an unpublished monograph. In this paper, we give the proofs of these results in [H9] and we formulate and prove results for general intertwining operator algebras without assuming that the modules involved are irreducible. In particular, we construct fusing and braiding isomorphisms for general intertwining operator algebras and prove that they satisfy the genus-zero Moore-Seiberg equations. We show that the Jacobi identity for intertwining operator algebras is equivalent to generalized rationality, commutativity and associativity properties of intertwining operator algebras. We introduce the locality for intertwining operator algebras and show that the Jacobi identity is equivalent to the locality, assuming that other axioms hold. Moreover, we establish that any two of the three properties, associativity, commutativity and skew-symmetry, imply the other (except that when deriving skew-symmetry from associativity and commutativity, more conditions are needed). The derivatives of Nash functions are Nash functions which are derived algebraically from their minimal polynomial equations. In this paper we show that, for any non-Nash analytic function, it is impossible to derive its derivatives algebraically, i.e., by using linearity and Leibniz rule finite times. In fact we prove the impossibility of such kind of algebraic computations, algebraically by using K{\" a}hler differentials. Then the notion of Leibniz complexity of a Nash function is introduced in this paper, as a computational complexity on its derivative, by the minimal number of usages of Leibniz rules to compute the total differential algebraically. We provide general observations and upper estimates on Leibniz complexity of Nash functions, related to the binary expansions, the addition chain complexity, the non-scalar complexity and the complexity of Nash functions in the sense of Ramanakoraisina., Comment: 19 pages, and we will submit this article for some mathematics journal

The paper recalls two of the regularity results for Burgers' equation, and discusses what happens in the case of genuinely nonlinear, strictly hyperbolic systems of conservation laws. The first regularity result which is considered is Oleinik-Ambroso-De Lellis SBV estimate: it provides bounds on the x-derivative of u when u is an entropy solution of the Cauchy problem for Burgers' equation with bounded initial data. Its extensions to the case of systems is then mentioned. The second regularity result of debate is Schaeffer's theorem: entropy solutions to Burgers' equation with smooth and generic, in a Baire category sense, initial data are piecewise smooth. The failure of the same regularity for general genuinely nonlinear systems is next described. The main focus of this paper is indeed including heuristically an original counterexample where a kind of stability of a shock pattern made by infinitely many shocks shows up, referring to [Caravenna-Spinolo] for the rigorous result., Comment: 10 pages, 1 figure

This is the first in a series of papers dedicated to the study of Poisson manifolds of compact types (PMCTs). This notion encompasses several classes of Poisson manifolds defined via properties of their symplectic integrations. In this first paper we establish some fundamental properties of PMCTs, which already show that they are the analogues of compact symplectic manifolds, thus placing them in a prominent position among all Poisson manifolds. For instance, their Poisson cohomology behaves very much like the de Rham cohomology of compact symplectic manifolds (Hodge decomposition, non-degenerate Poincar\'e duality pairing, etc.) and the Moser trick can be adapted to PMCTs. More important, we find unexpected connections between PMCTs and Symplectic Topology: PMCTs are related with the theory of Lagrangian fibrations and we exhibit a construction of a nontrivial PMCT related to a classical question on the topology of the orbits of a free symplectic circle action. In subsequent papers, we will establish deep connections between PMCTs and integral affine geometry, Hamiltonian $G$-spaces, foliation theory, Lie theory and symplectic gerbes., Comment: Some notations and conventions were changed to agree with PMCT 2. In recent years, researchers have discovered various large algebraic structures that have surprising finiteness properties, such as FI-modules and Delta-modules. In this paper, we add another example to the growing list: we show that certain degree two twisted commutative algebras are noetherian. This example appears to have some fundamental differences from previous examples, and is therefore especially interesting. Reflective of this, our proof introduces new methods for establishing noetherianity that are likely to be applicable in other situations. Generalized Zeckendorf decompositions are expansions of integers as sums of elements of solutions to recurrence relations. The simplest cases are base-$b$ expansions, and the standard Zeckendorf decomposition uses the Fibonacci sequence. The expansions are finite sequences of nonnegative integer coefficients (satisfying certain technical conditions to guarantee uniqueness of the decomposition) and which can be viewed as analogs of sequences of variable-length words made from some fixed alphabet. In this paper we present a new approach and construction for uniform measures on expansions, identifying them as the distribution of a Markov chain conditioned not to hit a set. This gives a unified approach that allows us to easily recover results on the expansions from analogous results for Markov chains, and in this paper we focus on laws of large numbers, central limit theorems for sums of digits, and statements on gaps (zeros) in expansions. In this paper, we prove that every confomal minimal immersion of an open Riemann surface into $\mathbb{R}^n$ for $n\ge 5$ can be approximated uniformly on compacts by conformal minimal embeddings. Furthermore, we show that every open Riemann surface carries a proper conformal minimal embedding into $\mathbb{R}^5$. One of our main tools is a Mergelyan approximation theorem for conformal minimal immersions to $\mathbb{R}^n$ for any $n\ge 3$ which is also proved in the paper., Comment: Math. Z., in press. In this paper we consider finite energy, \ell-equivariant wave maps from 1+3-dimensional Minkowski space exterior to the unit ball at the origin into the 3-sphere. We impose a Dirichlet boundary condition at r=1, which in this context means that the boundary of the unit ball in the domain gets mapped to the north pole. Each such \ell-equivariant wave map has a fixed integer-valued topological degree, and in each degree class there is a unique harmonic map, which minimizes the energy for maps of the same degree. We prove that an arbitrary \ell-equivariant exterior wave map with finite energy scatters to the unique harmonic map in its degree class, i.e., soliton resolution. This extends the recent results of the first, second, and fourth authors on the 1-equivariant equation to higher equivariance classes, and thus completely resolves a conjecture of Bizon, Chmaj and Maliborski, who observed this asymptotic behavior numerically. Given a probability space $(\Omega,\Sigma,\mu)$, the Hardy space $\mathrm{H}_1(\Omega)$ which is associated to the martingale square function does not admit a classical atomic decomposition when the underlying filtration is not regular. In this paper we construct a decomposition of $\mathrm{H}_1(\Omega)$ into "atomic blocks"${}$ in the spirit of Tolsa, which we will introduce for martingales. We provide three proofs of this result. Only the first one also applies to noncommutative martingales, the main target of this paper. The other proofs emphasize alternative approaches for commutative martingales. One might be well-known to experts, using a weaker notion of atom and approximation by atomic filtrations. The last one adapts Tolsa's argument replacing medians by conditional medians., Comment: A proof of our main result for classical martingales follows from a weak notion of atom which was known to experts long ago (sketched in the paper for completeness). The paper provides a complement to the classical results on Fourier multipliers on $L^p$ spaces. In particular, we prove that if $q\in (1,2)$ and a function $m:\mathbb{R} \rightarrow \mathbb{C}$ is of bounded $q$-variation uniformly on the dyadic intervals in $\mathbb{R}$, i.e. $m\in V_q(\mathcal{D})$, then $m$ is a Fourier multiplier on $L^p(\mathbb{R}, wdx)$ for every $p\geq q$ and every weight $w$ satisfying Muckenhoupt's $A_{p/q}$-condition. We also obtain a higher dimensional counterpart of this result as well as of a result by E. Berkson and T.A. Gillespie including the case of the $V_q(\mathcal{D})$ spaces with $q>2$. In this paper we prove existence of least energy nodal solutions for the Hamiltonian elliptic system with H\'enon-type weights \[ -\Delta u = |x|^{\beta} |v|^{q-1}v, \quad -\Delta v =|x|^{\alpha}|u|^{p-1}u\quad { in } \Omega, \qquad u=v=0 { on } \partial \Omega, \] where $\Omega$ is a bounded smooth domain in $\mathbb{R}^N$, $N\geq 1$, $\alpha, \beta \geq 0$ and the nonlinearities are superlinear and subcritical, namely \[ 1> \frac{1}{p+1}+\frac{1}{q+1}> \frac{N-2}{N}. \] When $\Omega$ is either a ball or an annulus centred at the origin and $N \geq 2$, we show that these solutions display the so-called foliated Schwarz symmetry. It is natural to conjecture that these solutions are not radially symmetric. We provide such a symmetry breaking in a range of parameters where the solutions of the system behave like the solutions of a single equation. Our results on the above system are new even in the case of the Lane-Emden system (i.e. without weights). As far as we know, this is the first paper that contains results about least energy nodal solutions for strongly coupled elliptic systems and their symmetry properties., Comment: This new version corrects a gap in the previous proof of Theorem 2.6.
