Here, we present a rare case of massive allergic dermatitis due to HA injections. We performed dermoscopy and color ultrasound, which clarified that this was an allergic dermatitis caused by fillers, and analyzed the possible causes of the allergy. Common treatments were compared, and the advantages of 5-FU-based treatment regimens and their associated mechanisms were noted. A low dose of 5-fluorouracil and triamcinolone acetonide was administered to the patient’s entire face and neck, and significant efficacy was achieved. We aimed to gather evidence on extensive dermatitis caused by HA injection, provide new perspectives and solutions for subsequent HA injections, and promote further research on the potential mechanisms of extensive skin inflammation and allergies caused by local HA injections.Keywords: hyaluronic acid, massive allergic dermatitis, 5-fluorouracil

We used a novel and practical IR indicator, the TyG index to explore its association with infertility.Patients and Methods: We calculated the TyG index using data from adult women who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2013 to 2018. Then, we used multivariate logistic regression, smooth curve fitting, and subgroup analysis to examine the association between the TyG index and infertility in women.Results: Logistic regression models showed a positive correlation between the TyG index and infertility, which remained significant even after adjusting for all confounders (OR=1.51,95% CI:1.14– 2.00, p=0.005). This association was consistent in all subgroups (age, education level, marital status, BMI, smoking, alcohol consumption, hypertension, diabetes, pelvic inflammatory disease/PID treatment, and menstrual regularity in the past 12 months) (p> 0.05 for all interactions). However, the diagnostic power of the TyG index for infertility was limited (AUC=0.56, 95% CI: 0.52– 0.61).Conclusion: The TyG index is positively correlated with infertility, but its diagnostic value is limited. The data were statistically analyzed by SPSS 26.0 and validated by AMOS 28.0. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was conducted to test the effects of problematic Internet use on adolescents’ loneliness and the mediating effects of perceptions of social support and family communication.Results: There was a significant positive effect of adolescents’ problematic Internet use on loneliness (B-0.471, P< 0.001), and the mediating effects of perceptual social support (0.003, 0.012) and family communication (0.008, 0.019) were found to play a chain effect between adolescents’ problematic Internet use and loneliness, respectively. Use and feelings of loneliness played a chain mediating role (0.002, 0.006).Conclusion: This study identified the effects of adolescent problematic Internet use on loneliness and its mechanism of action, emphasized the importance of social support and family communication, and provided practical insights for improving family parenting styles and preventing and intervening in adolescent loneliness problems.Keywords: problematic internet use, adolescents, loneliness, perceived social support, family communication

The purpose of this study was to construct an objective and easy-to-promote model based on common clinical biochemical indicators and demographic data for OSA screening.Methods: The study collected the clinical data of patients who were referred to the Sleep Medicine Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University from December 1, 2020, to July 31, 2023, including data for demographics, polysomnography (PSG), and 30 biochemical indicators. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to compare the differences between groups, and the Boruta method was used to analyze the importance of the predictors. We selected and compared 10 predictors using 4 machine learning algorithms which were “Gaussian Naive Bayes (GNB)”, “Support Vector Machine (SVM)”, “K Neighbors Classifier (KNN)”, and “Logistic Regression (LR)”. Finally, the optimal algorithm was selected to construct the final prediction model.Results: Among all the predictors of OSA, body mass index (BMI) showed the best predictive efficacy with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) = 0.699; among the predictors of biochemical indicators, triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index represented the best predictive performance (AUC = 0.656). The LR algorithm outperformed the 4 established machine learning (ML) algorithms, with an AUC (F1 score) of 0.794 (0.841), 0.777 (0.827), and 0.732 (0.788) in the training, validation, and testing cohorts, respectively.Conclusion: We have constructed an efficient OSA screening tool. The introduction of biochemical indicators in ML-based prediction models can provide a reference for clinicians in determining whether patients with suspected OSA need PSG. Chylothorax has a higher incidence in infancy, but its risk factors are not well understood.Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the risk factors of chylothorax after congenital heart surgery in infants.Methods: This retrospective study included 176 infants who underwent congenital heart disease surgery at the Guangdong Cardiovascular Institute, China, between 2016 and 2020. According to the occurrence of chylothorax, the patients were divided into a control group (n = 88) and a case group (n = 88). Univariate and multivariate logistic regression were performed to analyse the incidence and influencing factors of chylothorax after congenital heart surgery in infants.Results: Between 2016 and 2020, the annual incidence rate fluctuated between 1.55% and 3.17%, and the total incidence of chylothorax was 2.02%. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that postoperative albumin (p = 0.041; odds ratio [OR] = 0.095), preoperative mechanical ventilation (p = 0.001; OR = 1.053) and preterm birth (p = 0.002; OR = 5.783) were risk factors for postoperative chylothorax in infants with congenital heart disease.Conclusion: The total incidence of chylothorax was 2.02% and the annual incidence rate fluctuated between 1.55% and 3.17% between 2016 and 2020. Premature infants, longer preoperative mechanical ventilation and lower albumin after congenital heart surgery may be risk factors for chylothorax. In addition, infants with chylothorax are inclined to be infected, need more respiratory support, use a chest drainage tube for longer and remain longer in hospital.Keywords: congenital heart surgery, congenital heart disease, postoperative chylothorax, infant, risk factor

Plasma samples were collected either before administration of aescinate, upon the occurrence of phlebitis, or at the end of treatment. Non-targeted metabolomics and targeted amino acid metabolomics were carried out to analyze metabolic profiles and quantify the metabolites.Results: Untargeted metabolomics revealed six differential metabolites in baseline samples versus post-treatment samples and four differential metabolites in baseline samples from patients with or without phlebitis. Pathways of these differential metabolites were mainly enriched in amino acid metabolism. Ten differential amino acids with a VIP value of > 1 were identified in the baseline samples, enabling us to distinguish between patients with or without phlebitis. A logistic regression model was constructed (AUC 0.825) for early warning of phlebitis of grade 2 or higher.Conclusion: The occurrence of aescinate-induced phlebitis, which can be predicted early during onset, may be associated with perturbations of the endogenous metabolic profile, especially the metabolism of amino acids. In this study biology-eco microplate culture technology was used to study the differences in carbon source utilization of soil microorganisms in land use patterns along the Yellow River in China. At the same time, physical and chemical indices of soil such as soil organic carbon and alkali-hydrolyzable nitrogen contents, three soil enzyme activities and two secondary metabolites contents were measured to explore the relationship between soil microbial carbon source utilization and soil characteristics. The results showed that farmland was the best carbon source utilization land use pattern, followed by poplar forest land, Ligustrum lucidum land and grassland. The consumption of carbon sources by the soil microorganisms in the four land use patterns were mainly carbohydrates and amino acids. The farmland showed the highest diversity of microorganisms. Furthermore, redundancy analysis (RDA) analysis showed that the metabolic functions and activities of four land use patterns microbial were mostly affected by the contents of organic carbon, alkali-hydrolyzed nitrogen and sucrase activity. Significant differences were observed among the physicochemical properties and microbial carbon source utilization of the four land use patterns along the Yellow River. Organic carbon, phosphatase and sucrase activities were the main factors affecting microbial diversity. This study provided a theoretical basis for future research on planning land use and helping soil ecological restoration along the Yellow River. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: Although targeted biopsies (TBx) are associated with improved disease assessment, concerns have been raised regarding the risk of prostate cancer (PCa) overgrading due to more accurate biopsy core deployment in the index lesion. Methods: We identified 1672 patients treated with radical prostatectomy (RP) with a positive mpMRI and ISUP ≥ 2 PCa detected via systematic biopsy (SBx) plus TBx. We compared downgrading rates at RP (ISUP 4–5, 3, and 2 at biopsy, to a lower ISUP) for PCa detected via SBx only (group 1), via TBx only (group 2), and eventually for PCa detected with the same ISUP 2–5 at both SBx and TBx (group 3), using multivariable logistic regression models (MVA). Results: Overall, 12 vs 14 vs 6% (n = 176 vs 227 vs 96) downgrading rates were recorded in group 1 vs group 2 vs group 3, respectively (p < 0.001). At MVA, group 2 was more likely to be downgraded (OR 1.26, p = 0.04), as compared to group 1. Conversely, group 3 was less likely to be downgraded at RP (OR 0.42, p < 0.001). Conclusions: Downgrading rates are highest when PCa is present in TBx only and, especially when the highest grade PCa is diagnosed by TBx cores only. Conversely, downgrading rates are lowest when PCa is identified with the same ISUP through both SBx and TBx. The presence of clinically significant disease at SBx + TBx may indicate a more reliable assessment of the disease at the time of biopsy potentially reducing the risk of downgrading at final pathology. Abstract Background Researchers gradually focus on the relationship between phage and cancer. Objective To summarize the research hotspots and trends in the field of bacteriophage and cancer. Methods The downloaded articles were searched from the Web of Science Core Collection database from January 2008 to June 2023. Bibliometric analysis was carried out through CiteSpace, including the analysis of cooperative networks (country/region, institution, and author), co-citations of references, and key words.Visual analysis of three topics, including gut phage, phage and bacteria, and phage and tumor, was conducted. Results Overall, the United States and China have the most phage-related research. In terms of gut phage, the future research directions are “gut microbiome”, “database” and “microbiota”. The bursting citations explored the phage-dominated viral genome to discover its diversity and individual specificity and investigated associations among bacteriome, metabolome, and virome. In terms of phage and bacteria, “lipopolysaccharide” and “microbiota” are future research directions. Future research hotspots should mainly concentrate on the further exploration and application of phage properties. As for phages and tumors, the future research directions should be "colorectal cancer", "protein" and "phage therapy". Future directions are likely to focus on the research on phages in cancer mechanisms, cancer diagnosis, and cancer treatment combined with genetic engineering techniques. Conclusion Phage therapy would become a hot spot and research direction of tumor and phage research, and the relationship between phage and tumor, especially colorectal cancer (CRC), is expected to be further explored.

[Objective] Identification and characterization of the BRX family genes in tea plants, along with analysis of their expression patterns in various tissues and under stress conditions. The research lays the groundwork for investigation into the functions of the tea plant BRX genes. [Methods] Using the tea plant genome database and bioinformatics softwares such as TBtools, we identified and analyzed the BRX genes with the tea plant variety ‘Shuchazao’. Different treatments, including salt, drought, high temperature, and low temperature stress, as well as exogenous GA3 application, were applied for various durations. The relative transcript abundance of the BRX gene family in different tissues and under stress conditions was quantified using RT-qPCR. [Results] A total of 5 CsBRX genes was identified, encoding proteins composed of 313-370 amino acids. The structure of genes was similar and highly conserved. The promoter regions contained hormone and stress response elements. Based on evolutionary relationships, BRX proteins were divided into 4 subfamilies. CsBRX1, CsBRX3, and CsBRX5 were all expressed in young leaves, while CsBRX4 was exclusively expressed in old leaves. Under salt stress for 12 h, the transcriptional levels of CsBRX1, CsBRX2, and CsBRX4 were elevated to the greatest extend. CsBRX2 exhibited a swift response to low temperature stress, with its relative expression peaked at 1 h. CsBRX2 demonstrated a positive response to exogenous GA signaling, and its expression reached a peak at 24 h interval. [Conclusion] The CsBRX genes demonstrate tissue-specific expression patterns, responding variably to multiple stresses and GA signal, which offers insights into stress tolerance mechanisms of tea plants.

Abstract Background More than 90% of colorectal cancer (CRC) arises from advanced adenomas (AA) and gut microbes are closely associated with the initiation and progression of both AA and CRC. Objective To analyze the characteristic microbes in AA. Methods Fecal samples were collected from 92 AA and 184 negative control (NC). Illumina HiSeq X sequencing platform was used for high-throughput sequencing of microbial populations. The sequencing results were annotated and compared with NCBI RefSeq database to find the microbial characteristics of AA. R-vegan package was used to analyze α diversity and β diversity. α diversity included box diagram, and β diversity included Principal Component Analysis (PCA), principal co-ordinates analysis (PCoA), and non-metric multidimensional scaling (NMDS). The AA risk prediction models were constructed based on six kinds of machine learning algorithms. In addition, unsupervised clustering methods were used to classify bacteria and viruses. Finally, the characteristics of bacteria and viruses in different subtypes were analyzed. Results The abundance of Prevotella sp900557255, Alistipes putredinis, and Megamonas funiformis were higher in AA, while the abundance of Lilyvirus, Felixounavirus, and Drulisvirus were also higher in AA. The Catboost based model for predicting the risk of AA has the highest accuracy (bacteria test set: 87.27%; virus test set: 83.33%). In addition, 4 subtypes (B1V1, B1V2, B2V1, and B2V2) were distinguished based on the abundance of gut bacteria and enteroviruses (EVs). Escherichia coli D, Prevotella sp900557255, CAG-180 sp000432435, Phocaeicola plebeiuA, Teseptimavirus, Svunavirus, Felixounavirus, and Jiaodavirus are the characteristic bacteria and viruses of 4 subtypes. The results of Catboost model indicated that the accuracy of prediction improved after incorporating subtypes. The accuracy of discovery sets was 100%, 96.34%, 100%, and 98.46% in 4 subtypes, respectively. Conclusion Prevotella sp900557255 and Felixounavirus have high value in early warning of AA. As promising non-invasive biomarkers, gut microbes can become potential diagnostic targets for AA, and the accuracy of predicting AA can be improved by typing.

Abstract Escherichia coli (E. coli) is a ubiquitous symbiotic bacterium in the gut, and the diversity of E. coli genes determines the diversity of its functions. In this review, the two‐edged sword theory was innovatively proposed. For the question ‘how can we harness the ambivalent nature of E. coli to screen and treat CRC?’, in terms of CRC screening, the variations in the abundance and subtypes of E. coli across different populations present an opportunity to utilise it as a biomarker, while in terms of CRC treatment, the natural beneficial effect of E. coli on CRC may be limited, and engineered E. coli, particularly certain subtypes with probiotic potential, can indeed play a significant role in CRC treatment. It seems that the favourable role of E. coli as a genetic tool lies not in its direct impact on CRC but its potential as a research platform that can be integrated with various technologies such as nanoparticles, imaging methods, and synthetic biology modification. The relationship between gut microflora and CRC remains unclear due to the complex diversity and interaction of gut microflora. Therefore, the application of E. coli should be based on the ‘One Health’ view and take the interactions between E. coli and other microorganisms, host, and environmental factors, as well as its own changes into account. In this paper, the two‐edged sword role of E. coli in CRC is emphasised to realise the great potential of E. coli in CRC screening and treatment.

Abstract [Objective] The study aims to identify the NAC transcription factor genes CsNAC79 and Cs- NAC9 in tea plants and analyze their expression patterns under drought, salt, high temperature, and low temperature stresses as well as ABA and GA3 treatments in order to provide references for functional analysis of CsNAC79 and CsNAC9. [Methods] CsNAC79 and CsNAC9 were amplified by RT-PCR from tea plant ‘Longjing 43’ and analyzed by bioinformatics. The expression of CsNAC79 and CsNAC9 under abiotic stresses in tea plants was analyzed by qRT-PCR. [Results] (1) CsNAC79 and CsNAC9 encoded 409 and 282 amino acids, respectively, and contain the conserved NAM domain of the NAC family at 15-150 amino acids and 11-134 amino acids, respectively. (2) CsNAC79 protein was closely related to Actinidia chinensis, Diospyros kaki, and Cynara scolymus, while CsNAC9 protein was closely related to Amygdalus persica, Litchi chinensis, and Durio zibethinus. Both of the NAC transcription factors were hydrophilic proteins without signal peptides and transmembrane structures. The promoter regions of CsNAC79 and CsNAC9 contained abiotic stress- responsive elements. Protein structure analysis showed that Cs- NAC79 and CsNAC9 proteins were mainly composed of random coils and α-helixes. (3) Expression analysis showed that CsNAC79 and CsNAC9 genes were up-regulated under different abiotic stresses. [Conclusion] The CsNAC79 and CsNAC9 genes in tea plants responded to various abiotic stresses.

ObjectiveTo comprehensively analyze the impact of health literacy on fourth-grade students in a primary school in Changning District through the implementation of interactive interventions， providing a theoretical basis for the effective implementation of school health literacy initiatives.MethodsUsing a cluster random sampling method， the effects of a 6-month interactive intervention were assessed among all fourth-grade students through two rounds of health literacy questionnaires conducted before and after the intervention.ResultsFollowing the intervention， there was a significant increase in the overall rate of health literacy （86.80%）， knowledge of health beliefs （71.57%）， adherence to a healthy lifestyle （92.89%）， and basic health skills （76.14%） （P

Using data independent acquisition (DIA) proteomics, the composition and biological functions of differentially expressed proteins in raw milk during cold storage at 4 ℃ for up to 6 days were investigated. A total of 902 proteins were detected. Among them, 70 and 71 differentially expressed proteins were selected during the early (day 0 vs day 3) and late (day 3 vs day 6) stages of refrigeration, respectively. The differentially expressed proteins played an important role in the response to nerve growth factors and the regulation of cells and tissues at the early stage of refrigeration, and were mainly involved in the biological processes of cells. At the late stage of refrigeration, the differentially expressed proteins could regulate the metabolic processes of carbohydrate and RNA, and mainly participated in the sugar metabolic pathways. Protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis indicated that cell division control protein 42 homolog (CDC42) was the hub node protein for both refrigeration periods, which was closely related to phagocytosis. These findings revealed the compositional changes and functional diversity of functions in raw milk proteins during refrigeration, which will provide a theoretical basis for the cold storage of raw milk and be of great significance for the quality control of raw milk.

Abstract Background Pancreatic cancer (PCA) is an extremely aggressive malignant cancer with an increasing incidence and a low five‐year survival rate. The main reason for this high mortality is that most patients are diagnosed with PCA at an advanced stage, missing early treatment options and opportunities. As important nutrients of the human body, trace elements play an important role in maintaining normal physiological functions. Moreover, trace elements are closely related to many diseases, including PCA. Review This review systematically summarizes the latest research progress on selenium, copper, arsenic, and manganese in PCA, elucidates their application in PCA, and provides a new reference for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of PCA. Conclusion Trace elements such as selenium, copper, arsenic and manganese are playing an important role in the risk, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of PCA. Meanwhile, they have a certain inhibitory effect on PCA, the mechanism mainly includes: promoting ferroptosis, inducing apoptosis, inhibiting metastasis, and inhibiting excessive proliferation.

N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification in human tumor cells exerts considerable influence on crucial processes like tumorigenesis, invasion, metastasis, and immune response. This study aims to comprehensively analyze the impact of m6A-related genes on the prognosis and immune microenvironment (IME) of colonic adenocarcinoma (COAD). Public data sources, predictive algorithms identified m6A-related genes and differential gene expression in COAD. Subtype analysis and assessment of immune cell infiltration patterns were performed using consensus clustering and the CIBERSORT algorithm. The Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) regression analysis determined gene signatures. Independent prognostic factors were identified using univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards models. The findings indicate that 206 prognostic m6A-related DEGs contribute to the m6A regulatory network along with 8 m6A enzymes. Based on the expression levels of these genes, 438 COAD samples from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) were classified into 3 distinct subtypes, showing marked differences in survival prognosis, clinical characteristics, and immune cell infiltration profiles. Subtype 3 and 2 displayed reduced levels of infiltrating regulatory T cells and M0 macrophages, respectively. A six-gene signature, encompassing KLC3, SLC6A15, AQP7 JMJD7, HOXC6, and CLDN9, was identified and incorporated into a prognostic model. Validation across TCGA and GSE39582 datasets exhibited robust predictive specificity and sensitivity in determining the survival status of COAD patients. Additionally, independent prognostic factors were recognized, and a nomogram model was developed as a prognostic predictor for COAD. In conclusion, the six target genes governed by m6A mechanisms offer substantial potential in predicting COAD outcomes and provide insights into the unique IME profiles associated with various COAD subtypes.

ObjectiveTo analyze the prevalence of reduced visual acuity of young children in Changning district of Shanghai and to explore the influencing factors， so as to provide a reference basis for formulating prevention and control measures for children’s reduced visual acuity.MethodsVisual acuity examination and questionnaire survey were conducted on 5 772 middle class children in kindergartens and first grade children in primary schools who participated in the refractive screening in Changning District in 2019. χ2 test and logistic regression analysis were used to explore the influencing factors of reduced visual acuity.ResultsThe overall prevalence of reduced visual acuity among lower-aged children was 10.4% （596/5 772）. The prevalence of reduced visual acuity in the first grade children was 10.1% （284/2 822）， and that in the middle class children of kindergarten was 10.8% （312/2 900）. The prevalence of reduced visual acuity was 10.2% （298/2 933） in boys and 10.7% （298/2 789） in girls. 98.1% of young children had one or more bad habits when using eyes. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that frequent excessive head lowering （OR=1.713） and sometimes too close to the screen （OR=1.294） were independent risk factors for reduced visual acuity in young children； After stratification by age， frequent excessive head lowering （OR=1.997） increased the risk of reduced visual acuity of children in the first grade of primary school. Premature birth （OR=1.841）， sometimes excessive head lowering （OR=1.363） and frequent excessive head lowering （OR=2.002） increased the risk of reduced visual acuity of children in the middle class of kindergarten.ConclusionFor young children， we should pay more attention to their daily eye use distance， correct their bad behaviors for using eyes such as excessively lowering their head when using eyes and too close to the video screen when using electronic products， so as to prevent and delay the occurrence and development of reduced visual acuity.

Abstract Background Gut microbiota dysbiosis involved in the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer (CRC). The characteristics of enterotypes in CRC development have not been determined. Objective To characterize the gut microbiota of healthy, adenoma, and CRC subjects based on enterotype. Methods The 16 S rRNA sequencing data from 315 newly sequenced individuals and three previously published datasets were collected, providing total data for 367 healthy, 320 adenomas, and 415 CRC subjects. Enterotypes were analyzed for all samples, and differences in microbiota composition across subjects with different disease states in each enterotype were determined. The predictive values of a random forest classifier based on enterotype in distinguishing healthy, adenoma, and CRC subjects were evaluated and validated. Results Subjects were classified into one of three enterotypes, namely, Bacteroide- (BA_E), Blautia- (BL_E), and Streptococcus- (S_E) dominated clusters. The taxonomic profiles of these three enterotypes differed among the healthy, adenoma, and CRC cohorts. BA_E group was enriched with Bacteroides and Blautia; BL_E group was enriched by Blautia and Coprococcus; S_E was enriched by Streptococcus and Ruminococcus. Relative abundances of these genera varying among the three human cohorts. In training and validation sets, the S_E cluster showed better performance in distinguishing among CRC patients, adenoma patients, and healthy controls, as well as between CRC and non-CRC individuals, than the other two clusters. Conclusion This study provides the first evidence to indicate that changes in the microbial composition of enterotypes are associated with disease status, thereby highlighting the diagnostic potential of enterotypes in the treatment of adenoma and CRC.

ObjectiveTo analyze the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of confirmed cases of human monkeypox infection in Changning District， Shanghai， and to explore their clinical and epidemiological characteristics.MethodsClinical data from 10 reported cases of monkeypox in individuals residing in Changning District or identified by local medical institutions between July 20 and September 30， 2023， were collected. Epidemiological case investigations were conducted， and throat swabs， anal swabs， and rash swabs were collected by the treating medical institutions. Real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR was used for monkeypox virus nucleic acid testing， and descriptive epidemiological analysis was applied to analyze the epidemiological characteristics of the cases.ResultsAll 10 confirmed cases of human monkeypox infection were all young males with an average age of 35.4 years， all of whom belonged to the men who have sex with men （MSM） population， with no occupational clustering. The primary clinical symptoms included fever， rash， enlarged inguinal lymph nodes， and muscle soreness. Nine cases presented with a rash， and seven cases experienced fever symptoms. Among the 10 cases， one experienced fever， rash， enlarged lymph nodes， and muscle soreness； two had fever， rash， and enlarged lymph nodes； two had fever， rash， and systemic soreness； two had only a rash； one had fever or rash； and one was asymptomatic. Among the nine cases with a rash， the rash was mainly localized to the genital or anal area， with fewer cases presenting rashes on the limbs or trunk simultaneously. All cases reported a history of non-exclusive MSM behavior within 21 days before the onset of the disease. The interval between the last suspected high-risk exposure and the onset of symptoms was 4 to 10 days， with an average interval of 6.9 days. The time from the onset of fever to the appearance of a rash was 0 to 5 days， with an average of 1.87 days.ConclusionThe main clinical manifestations of human infection with monkeypox are fever， rash， and enlarged inguinal lymph nodes. The MSM population is a high-risk group for monkeypox infection， and its source of infection may be associated with MSM exposure. Early-stage symptoms are mild， leading to potential underdiagnosis. Additionally， patients may conceal information during the investigation process， which increases the difficulty of epidemic prevention and control.

As a key and weak point of continuous fiber-reinforced composites (CFRCs), the interface between the fiber and the matrix is vulnerable to failure under external loads, with its performance directly affecting the overall properties of CFRCs. Hence, a micro–macro coupling method that considered the microscopic properties of the interface was utilized to analyze and predict the mechanical properties of CFRCs more accurately. The microscopic mechanical parameters of the fiber–matrix interface, which were obtained using molecular dynamics, were transferred to the representative volume element (RVE). The stiffness matrix of the CFRC, required for the macroscopic finite element model, was then calculated using a unified periodic homogenization method based on the RVE and assigned to the finite element model for a macroscopic simulation. Nylon/continuous carbon fiber specimens were fabricated through additive manufacturing, with the tensile and bending strengths of the specimens obtained through tensile and three-point bending tests. The tensile strength of the experimental specimen was 200.1 MPa, while the result of the simulation containing the interface was 205.5 MPa, indicating a difference of less than 5% between the two. In contrast, the result of the simulation without an interface was 317.7 MPa, representing a high error of 58.7% compared with the experimental results. Moreover, the bending strength, Young’s modulus, and flexural modulus results with and without an interface showed the same trend as that for the tensile strength. This illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed micro–macro coupling method for analyzing and predicting the mechanical properties of CFRCs.

The aim of this study is to propose a damper based on magnetorheological (MR) fluid and elastomer for application in vehicle engine mounting systems to dissipate the vibration energy transferred from the engine to the vehicle body. The magnetic circuit structure of the damper has been precisely designed, and its reasonableness has been verified by static magnetic field simulation. After the principle prototype’s completion, the damper’s mechanical properties are tested by an electro–hydraulic servo fatigue machine. The results show that with the current increase, the damper’s in-phase stiffness increases by 20.6%. The equivalent damping improves by 81.6%, which indicates that the damper has a good MR effect. A new phenomenological model is proposed, and a genetic algorithm is used to identify the parameters of the model. Finally, a 1/4 vehicle engine vibration damping system model is established and a dynamics simulation is carried out. The simulation results show that the damper effectively reduces the vibration transmitted from the engine to the body, and the vibration-damping effect is even more obvious through sky-hook control. This proves that the damper proposed in this study has good vibration-damping performance.

Due to the overlap of initial traveling wave signals, the traveling wave propagation process in hybrid distribution lines is complicated to analyze. The most significant challenge posed by the traditional passive traveling wave-locating method for hybrid distribution lines lies in identifying the fault section and distinguishing the reflected wave from the fault point or the hybrid connection points. Based on this approach, with the application of the aerial-mode component of the pulse signal generated at the fault point, a fault-section-identification and fault-locating scheme for hybrid distribution feeders with active pulse injection is proposed. When power in a line is cut after a single-to-line ground (SLG) fault occurs, the same pulse is injected into the three phases from the neutral point of the coupling capacitor bank to construct the zero-mode component, which propagates to the SLG fault three-phase asymmetrical point, producing an aerial-mode component that is reflected back to the first end of the line. With the application of the arrival time of an aerial-mode wavefront, it is simple to locate the SLG fault for arbitrary forms of hybrid lines. The simulation results confirm the feasibility of the fault-locating scheme under different feeders, different fault locations, and fault resistances. The results of the experiments confirm the high practical value of the proposed method.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT), a minimally invasive and effective local treatment, heavily depends on photosensitizer (PS) performance and oxygen availability. Despite the use of PS-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) to address the solubility and aggregation issues of PSs, the inherent hypoxic intolerance of mainstream Type II PDT remains challenging. Herein, we report an electron transfer strategy for the fabrication of hypoxia-tolerant Type I MOFs by encapsulating thymoquinone (TQ) into existing Type II MOFs. With TQ serving as an effective electron transfer mediator, it facilitates the electron transfer process from the MOF ligand PS to oxygen, establishing the Type I pathway and attenuating the original Type II pathway. Four representative porphyrin-based MOFs are synthesized to demonstrate the proposed strategy. Our findings reveal that TQ@MOF-1 nanoparticles (NPs) exhibit enhanced anticancer activity under hypoxic conditions and superior in vivo antitumor efficacy compared to parent MOF-1 NPs. Amyloodinium ocellatum is a protozoan parasite that causes amyloodiniosis in marine and brackish water fish, threatening global aquaculture. The present study investigates the morphology and ultrastructure of the free-living stages of A. ocellatum (tomont and dinospore) using light microscopy (LM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Dinospores measured 13.03-19.66 μm in length, 12.32-18.71 μm in width, and were laterally flattened. Dinospores had a transverse flagellum for propulsion and a longitudinal flagellum for direction control. The cyst wall had three distinct layers and included cellulose. The outer wall was coated with numerous bacteria. The orange-red speckled eyespot was observed all tomont developmental stages and in the dinospore of A. ocellatum. Tomonts proliferation required successive nuclear division, the formation of new cyst walls, and cytoplasmic segregation. The cytoplasm comprises mainly the matrix, organelles, and inclusions. The matrix was grainy and evenly distributed. In addition to organelles, including mitochondria with tubular cristae, Golgi apparatus, and endoplasmic reticulum, the cytoplasm had starch grains and lipid droplets as inclusions. The A. ocellatum cells lacked chloroplasts. A chemoenzymatic synthesis access to resibufogenin and bufalin was developed in seven steps without protecting groups. Starting with androstenedione (AD), an α-OH was introduced directly at C14 by hydroxylase P-450 lun , which was further used as the directing group for hydrogenation to fully control the C17 configuration in the β-orientation after Suzuki cross-coupling. Dehydration of 14α-OH followed by an epoxidation delivered resibufogenin. Simultaneously, bufalin was also obtained via a challenging anaerobic Mukaiyama hydration.

Critical events in Alzheimer's disease (AD) involve an imbalance between the production and clearance of amyloid-β (Aβ) peptides from the brain. The ratio of Aβ42 to Aβ40 in plasma was useful for evaluating AD, but quantification is limited by factors including preanalytical analyte loss and insufficient sensitivity. The availability of a targeted UPLC-MS/MS method with adequate analytical sensitivity and accurate values traceable to the SI units is essential for implementing a strategy for assay standardization. A targeted UPLC-MS/MS method for plasma Aβ42 and Aβ40 quantification was developed based on selected characteristic peptides spiked by 15 N-labeled Aβ. The calibrator was assigned using an amino acid analysis reference method trace to SI units. UPLC-MS/MS conditions and sample preparation procedures were assessed. 59 plasma samples comparison were used to evaluate immunoassays. Additionally, two clinical cohorts were selected for diagnostic performance evaluation. The LOQ of Aβ42 and Aβ40 is 10 pg mL -1 and 20 pg mL -1 , respectively. The linear range was 10-500 pg mL -1 for Aβ42 and 20-1000 pg mL -1 for Aβ40, recoveries between 95.3 % and 108.2 % for Aβ42, 93.2 % and 104.1 % for Aβ40, imprecisions were <7 %. The accuracy of method was validated by analysis of a certified reference material. Clinical cohorts for diagnostic performance evaluation shown that the area under the curve (AUC) for plasma Aβ42 and Aβ42/Aβ40 to differentiate between AD and CN were 0.767 and 0.799, respectively. A robust UPLC-MS/MS method was developed and demonstrated that suitable for a wide range of plasma Aβ42 and Aβ40. Cellulose-based aerogels have emerged as highly promising materials for oil-water separation because of their highly porous nature, low bulk density, cost-effectiveness, and functional performance. In this study, a novel, robust, and hydrophobic bacterial cellulose aerogel (HBCA) was reported for highly efficient oil/water separation, which was formed by incorporating methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) into sulfonated nano-fibrillated bacterial cellulose (SNBC) matrix through freeze-drying method. The structural integrity of the SNBC/MTMS aerogel was ensured by its three-dimensional linked network structure. The resultant aerogel demonstrated superior hydrophobicity with a contact angle of 152.4°. As an oil-absorbing material, it selectively adsorbed different types of oils and organic solvents, with a saturation adsorption capacity ranging from 42.14 to 85.37 g·g -1 . Additionally, this composite aerogel demonstrated outstanding separation efficiency (98.48 %) in continuous oil-water mixture processes, suggesting promising potential applications in the treatment of industrial oil pollution and oil spill accidents. In this work, a series of cationic luminogens (designated as PSMP isomers) were developed based on the cyano positional isomerism strategy. The isomerism of the cyano substituent on the molecular skeleton can finely regulate the optical behaviour, the type of photoinduced reactive oxygen species (ROS), and mitochondria-targeted capability of isomers. Interestingly, PSMP-4, with the cyano group installed at an appropriate location, exhibits a special aggregation-induced emission effect and potent O 2 ˙ - generation efficacy through the type I photochemistry pathway. Notably, PSMP-4 can accumulate in mitochondria with high specificity. Taking advantage of its excellent photostability, PSMP-4 realizes in situ mitochondria imaging in a washing-free manner and sensitive response to the change of mitochondrial membrane potential. The integration of comprehensive photophysical properties and mitochondrial specificity enable PSMP-4 to successfully trigger the death of cancer cells through an efficient type I photodynamic therapy process both in vitro and in multicellular tumor spheroid models.

Escherichia coli O157:H7 ( E. coli O157:H7) is a prominent pathogenic bacterium that poses serious risks to food safety and public health. Rapid and accurate detection of live E. coli O157:H7 is of great importance in food quality monitoring and clinical diagnosis. Here, we report a propidium monoazide-assisted nonamplification digital CRISPR/Cas12a assay for sensitive and rapid detection of live E. coli O157:H7. The incorporation of propidium monoazide into the method enables the selective detection of live bacteria by eliminating 98% of interference from the dead bacterial nucleic acid. Implemented on microfluidic digital chips, this method can achieve absolute quantification of nonamplified nucleic acid. The entire detection process of live bacteria can be completed within 120 min without the need for establishing a standard curve, and the sensitivity of the method reaches 1.2 × 10 3 CFU/mL. The method was validated using various samples, yielding results consistent with the plate counting method (Pearson's r = 0.9490). Consequently, this method holds significant potential for applications in fields requiring live bacterial detection.
