Abstract Granulomatous lobular mastitis (GLM) is a chronic idiopathic granulomatous mastitis of the mammary gland characterized by significant pain and a high propensity for recurrence, the incidence rate has gradually increased, and has become a serious breast disease that should not be ignored. GLM is highly suspected relative to microbial infections, especially those of Corynebacterium species; however, the mechanisms involved are unclear, and prevention and treatment are difficult. In this study, we demonstrated the pathogenicity of Corynebacterium parakroppenstedtii in GLM using Koch’s postulates. Based on the drug sensitization results of C. parakroppenstedtii, and utilizing a retrospective study in conjunction with a comprehensive literature review, we suggested an efficacious, targeted antibiotic treatment strategy for GLM. Subsequently, we identified the pathogenic factor as a new type of glycolipid (named corynekropbactins) secreted by C. parakroppenstedtii. Corynekropbactins may chelate iron, cause the death of mammary cells and other mammary -gland-colonizing bacteria, and increase the levels of inflammatory cytokines. We further analyzed the prevalence of C. parakroppenstedtii infection in patients with GLM. Finally, we suggested that the lipophilicity of C. parakroppenstedtii may be associated with its infection route and proposed a possible model for the development of GLM. This research holds significant implications for the clinical diagnosis and therapeutic management of GLM, offering new insights into targeted treatment approaches.

Abstract Cas12 and Cas13 are extensively utilized in molecular diagnostics for their trans-cleavage activities, yet their activation characteristics remain partially understood. Here, we conduct an in-depth investigation of Cas12a, Cas12f1, and Cas13a, uncovering the characteristics of their trans-DNase and trans-RNase activities with noncanonical activators. Our findings reveal that DNA can serve as a direct target for CRISPR-Cas13a, markedly increasing the detection sensitivity for single-base mismatches. Moreover, the trans-cleavage activities of Cas12a and Cas13a can be activated by diverse RNA:DNA and RNA:RNA duplexes, respectively, indicating that the presence of stem–loop structures in crRNAs is not essential for their activation. Notably, Cas12f1, unlike Cas12a, exhibits intrinsic RNase activity independently of activation. Leveraging these insights, we have improved the accuracy of a dual-gene target detection approach that employs the CRISPR-Cas12f1 and Cas13a systems. Our research advances the understanding of the noncanonical activation characteristics of Cas12 and Cas13a, contributing to the field of CRISPR-based diagnostics.

To determine the promoting effects of enzyme hydrolysis products of Larimichthys polyactis on the proliferation of Streptococcus thermophilus FUA329. The in vitro antioxidant activity of the enzymatic hydrolysis with different molecular weights were determined. Papain was selected for the enzymatic hydrolysis of its by-products on the basis of selecting different enzymes to hydrolyze the processing by-products of Larimichthys polyactis. Taking the proliferative effect of enzymatic degradation products on Streptococcus thermophilus as an indicator of evaluation. The enzymatic hydrolysis conditions were optimized through single factor and response surface methodology. The in vitro antioxidant activity of the hydrolysis products of the by-products of Larimichthys polyactis (HPBL) were determined. The results showed that the best enzymatic hydrolysis conditions included the hydrolysis time, material-liquid ratio and enzyme loading were 5 h, 1:5.1 (w/v) and 2.8% (w/v), respectively. Abstract Background Our research endeavored to develop a robust predictive signature grounded in super-enhancer-related genes (SERGs), with the dual objectives of forecasting survival outcomes and evaluating the tumor immune microenvironment (TiME) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods HCC RNA-sequencing data were retrieved from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), and 365 patients were randomly assigned to training or testing sets in 1:1 ratio. SERGs of HCC were downloaded from Super-Enhancer Database (SEdb). On the basis of training set, a SERGs signature was identified, and its prognostic value was confirmed by internal and external validation (GSE14520) sets. We subsequently examined the model for potential functional enrichment and the degree of tumor immune infiltration. Additionally, we carried out in vitro experiments to delve into the biological functions of CBX2 gene. Results An SE-related prognostic model including CBX2, TPX2, EFNA3, DNASE1L3 and SOCS2 was established and validated. According to this risk model, patients in the high-risk group had a significantly worse prognosis, and their immune cell infiltration was significantly different from that of low-risk group. Moreover, the high-risk group exhibited a significant enrichment of tumor-associated pathological pathways. The SERGs signature can generally be utilized to screen HCC patients who are likely to respond to immunotherapy, as there is a positive correlation between the risk score and the Tumor Immune Dysfunction and Exclusion (TIDE) score. Furthermore, the downregulation of the CBX2 gene expression was found to inhibit HCC cell viability, migration, and cell cycle progression, while simultaneously promoting apoptosis. Conclusions We developed a novel HCC prognostic model utilizing SERGs, indicating that patients with high-risk score not only face a poorer prognosis but also may exhibit a diminished therapeutic response to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). This model is designed to tailor personalized treatment strategies to the individual needs of each patient, thereby improving the overall clinical outcomes for HCC patients. Furthermore, CBX2 is a promising candidate for therapeutic intervention in HCC.

Abstract Histone H3-mutant gliomas are deadly brain tumors characterized by a dysregulated epigenome and stalled differentiation. In contrast to the extensive datasets available on tumor cells, limited information exists on their tumor microenvironment (TME), particularly the immune infiltrate. Here, we characterize the immune TME of H3.3K27M and G34R/V-mutant gliomas, and multiple H3.3K27M mouse models, using transcriptomic, proteomic and spatial single-cell approaches. Resolution of immune lineages indicates high infiltration of H3-mutant gliomas with diverse myeloid populations, high-level expression of immune checkpoint markers, and scarce lymphoid cells, findings uniformly reproduced in all H3.3K27M mouse models tested. We show these myeloid populations communicate with H3-mutant cells, mediating immunosuppression and sustaining tumor formation and maintenance. Dual inhibition of myeloid cells and immune checkpoint pathways show significant therapeutic benefits in pre-clinical syngeneic mouse models. Our findings provide a valuable characterization of the TME of oncohistone-mutant gliomas, and insight into the means for modulating the myeloid infiltrate for the benefit of patients.

Abstract Aspect-level sentiment analysis plays a pivotal role in fine-grained sentiment categorization, especially given the rapid expansion of online information. Traditional methods often struggle with accurately determining sentiment polarity when faced with implicit or ambiguous data, leading to limited accuracy and context-awareness. To address these challenges, we propose the Deep Context-Aware Sentiment Analysis Model (DCASAM). This model integrates the capabilities of Deep Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory Network (DBiLSTM) and Densely Connected Graph Convolutional Network (DGCN), enhancing the ability to capture long-distance dependencies and subtle contextual variations.The DBiLSTM component effectively captures sequential dependencies, while the DGCN component leverages densely connected structures to model intricate relationships within the data. This combination allows DCASAM to maintain a high level of contextual understanding and sentiment detection accuracy.Experimental evaluations on well-known public datasets, including Restaurant14, Laptop14, and Twitter, demonstrate the superior performance of DCASAM over existing models. Our model achieves an average improvement in accuracy by 1.07% and F1 score by 1.68%, showcasing its robustness and efficacy in handling complex sentiment analysis tasks.These results highlight the potential of DCASAM for real-world applications, offering a solid foundation for future research in aspect-level sentiment analysis. By providing a more nuanced understanding of sentiment, our model contributes significantly to the advancement of fine-grained sentiment analysis techniques.

Abstract Colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM) is challenging in the clinical treatment of colorectal cancer. Limited research has been conducted on how CRLM develops. RNA sequencing data were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Four machine learning algorithms were used to screen the hub CRLM-specific genes, including Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (Lasso), Random forest, SVM-RFE, and XGboost. The model for identifying CRLM was developed using stepwise logistic regression and was validated using internal and independent datasets. The prognostic value of hub CRLM-specific genes was assessed using the Lasso-Cox method. The in vitro experiments were performed using SW620 cells. The CRLM identification model was developed based on four CRLM-specific genes (SPP1, ZG16, P2RY14, and PRKAR2B), and the model efficacy was validated using GSE41258 and three external cohorts. Five CRLM-specific prognostic hub genes, SPP1, ZG16, P2RY14, CYP2E1, and C5, were identified using the Lasso-Cox algorithm, and a risk score was constructed. The risk score was validated using the GSE39582 cohort. Three genes have both efficacy in identifying CRLM and prognostic value: ZG16, P2RY14, and SPP1. Immune infiltration and enrichment analyses demonstrated that SPP1 was associated with M2 macrophage polarization and extracellular matrix remodeling. In vitro experiments indicated that SPP1 may act as a cancer-promoting factor. The hub CRLM-specific gene SPP1 can help determine the diagnosis, prognosis, and immune infiltration of patients with CRLM.

Abstract Infectious keratitis is among the major causes of global blindness. Anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) images allow the characterizing of cross-sectional structures in the cornea with keratitis thus revealing the severity of inflammation, and can also provide 360-degree information on anterior chambers. The development of image analysis methods for such cases, particularly deep learning methods, requires a large number of annotated images, but to date, there is no such open-access AS-OCT image repository. For this reason, this work provides a dataset containing a total of 1168 AS-OCT images of patients with keratitis, including 768 full-frame images (6 patients). Each image has associated segmentation labels for lesions and cornea, and also labels of iris for full-frame images. This study provides a great opportunity to advance the field of image analysis on AS-OCT images in both two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) and would aid in the development of artificial intelligence-based keratitis management.

Abstract Background Quorum sensing (QS) is a cell density-based intercellular communication system that controls virulence gene expression and biofilm formation. In Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa), the LasR system sits at the top of the QS hierarchy and coordinates the expression of a series of important traits. However, the role of lasR in phage infection remains unclear. This study aims to investigate the role of lasR QS in phage infection. Methods The P. aeruginosa phage was isolated from sewage, and its biological characteristics and whole genome were analyzed. The adsorption receptor was identified via a phage adsorption assay. Following lasR gene knockout, the adsorption rate and bactericidal activity of phage were analyzed. Finally, real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) was conducted to explore how lasR promoting phage infection. Results The lytic phage vB_Pae_PLY was isolated and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was identified as its adsorption receptor. The adsorption rate and bactericidal activity of vB_Pae_PLY were reduced after lasR knockout. RT-qPCR results showed that the expression of galU, a key gene involved in LPS synthesis, was down-regulated, and several genes related to type IV pili (T4P) were also down-regulated in the lasR mutant PaΔlasR. Conclusions The study showed that QS lasR may promote phage vB_Pae_PLY infection by involving in the synthesis of LPS and T4P. This study provides an example of QS in promoting phage infection and deepens the understanding of phage-bacteria interactions.

Abstract Traditional light‐driven metal‐organic‐frameworks (MOFs)‐based micromotors (MOFtors) are typically constrained to two‐dimensional (2D) motion under ultraviolet or near‐infrared light and often demonstrate instability and susceptibility to ions in high‐saline environments. This limitation is particularly relevant to employing micromotors in water purification, as real wastewater is frequently coupled with high salinity. In response to these challenges, ultrastable MOFtors capable of three‐dimensional (3D) motion under a broad spectrum of light through thermophoresis and electrophoresis are successfully synthesized. The MOFtors integrated photocatalytic porphyrin MOFs (PCN‐224) with a photothermal component made of polypyrrole (PPy) by three distinct methodologies, resulting in micromotors with different motion behavior and catalytic performance. Impressively, the optimized MOFtors display exceptional maximum velocity of 1305 ± 327 µm s−1 under blue light and 2357 ± 453 µm s−1 under UV light. In harsh saline environments, these MOFtors are not only maintain high motility but also exhibit superior tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) removal efficiency of 3578 ± 510 mg g−1, coupling with sulfate radical‐based advanced oxidation processes and peroxymonosulfate. This research underscores the significant potential of highly efficient MOFtors with robust photocatalytic activity in effectively removing TCH in challenging saline conditions, representing a substantial advancement in applying MOFtors within real‐world water treatment technologies.

We report the experimental observation of soliton molecules in a dispersion-managed thulium-doped (Tm-doped) fiber laser utilizing a black phosphorus saturable absorber (BP-SA). A variety of soliton molecules can be detected with the increase of pump power and the adjustment of cavity polarization state. Additionally, we use numerical simulation to investigate the soliton dynamics and further explore soliton molecules with variable and controllable properties. Stable separation-changeable soliton molecule has been numerically observed through changing small signal gain G in the cavity. These results enhance research into multi-soliton complexes as well as its practical application.

Background The correlation between hearing loss (HL) and physical performance in patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) remains poorly investigated. This study explored the association between HL and physical performance in patients on MHD. Methods This multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted between July 2020 and April 2021 in seven hemodialysis centers in Shanghai and Suzhou, China. The hearing assessment was performed using pure-tone average (PTA). Physical performance was assessed using the Timed Up and Go Test (TUGT), handgrip strength, and gait speed. Results Finally, 838 adult patients (male, 516 [61.6%]; 61.2 ± 2.6 years) were enrolled. Among them, 423 (50.5%) had mild to profound HL (male, 48.6% and female, 53.4%). Patients with HL had poorer physical performance than patients without HL (p < 0.001). TUGT was positively correlated with PTA (r = 0.265, p < 0.001), while handgrip strength and gait speed were negatively correlated with PTA (r = –0.356, p < 0.001 and r = –0.342, p < 0.001, respectively). BackgroundThe burden of chronic kidney diseases (CKD) is continuously increasing in the globe. Environmental factors are one of the trigger factors for chronic kidney diseases of unknown etiology (CKDu). However, the current toxicological evidence on the renal effects induced by environmental high concentrations of multiple ions in drinking water and high temperature exposure is very limited. ObjectiveTo preliminary investigate the renal effects of exposure to drinking water with environmental high concentrations of fluoride, calcium, sodium, and bromide ions alone or in combination with high temperature in mice. MethodsA mouse drinking water exposure model was established using ICR male mouse (8 weeks old) with exposure to 3 mg·L−1 fluoride ions, 250 mg·L−1 calcium ions, 400 mg·L−1 sodium ions, and 1 mg·L−1 bromide ions (to mimic the high concentration of ions in the groundwater in the areas with a high prevalence rate of CKDu in Sri Lanka) and high temperature of 32 ℃. ICR male mice were randomly divided into a mixed fluoride-calcium-sodium-bromide ion and high temperature exposure group, exposure groups of each ion and high temperature alone, a fluoride-calcium-sodium ion exposure group, and a fluoride-calcium-sodium-bromide ion exposure group. In the control group, the animals were given normal purified water at room temperature of (23±2) ℃. After 12 consecutive weeks of exposure, body weights and liver (kidney) organ coefficients were determined. Assessment of renal histopathologic damage was performed by hematoxylin-eosin staining and pathology scoring. At the end of the 12-week exposure period, 24 h urine samples were collected for the measurements of creatinine (UCr), albumin (ALB), neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), and β2-microglobulin (β2-MG) levels. Cell apoptosis was assessed by TUNEL assay. ResultsThe mice in the mixed exposure group showed a significant decrease in body weight and marked increases in the scores of renal histopathological injuries and the urinary levels of β2-MG compared to those of the control mice (P0.05), but the renal histopathological injury scores were significantly increased (P0.05). Furthermore, the renal histopathological injury score showed no significant differences between the fluoride-calcium-sodium ion exposure group and the fluoride-calcium-sodium-bromide ion exposure group (P>0.05). The interaction between bromide ions and fluoride-calcium-sodium ions on renal tissue pathological damage was not statistically significant (P>0.05). Abstract Background The SARS CoV-2 pandemic has resulted in more than 1.1 million deaths in the USA alone. Therapeutic options for critically ill patients with COVID-19 are limited. Prior studies showed that post-infection treatment of influenza A virus-infected mice with the liponucleotide CDP-choline, which is an essential precursor for de novo phosphatidylcholine synthesis, improved gas exchange and reduced pulmonary inflammation without altering viral replication. In unpublished studies, we found that treatment of SARS CoV-2-infected K18-hACE2-transgenic mice with CDP-choline prevented development of hypoxemia. We hypothesize that administration of citicoline (the pharmaceutical form of CDP-choline) will be safe in hospitalized SARS CoV-2-infected patients with hypoxemic acute respiratory failure (HARF) and that we will obtain preliminary evidence of clinical benefit to support a larger Phase 3 trial using one or more citicoline doses. Methods We will conduct a single-site, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, and randomized Phase 1/2 dose-ranging and safety study of Somazina® citicoline solution for injection in consented adults of any sex, gender, age, or ethnicity hospitalized for SARS CoV-2-associated HARF. The trial is named “SCARLET” (Supplemental Citicoline Administration to Reduce Lung injury Efficacy Trial). We hypothesize that SCARLET will show that i.v. citicoline is safe at one or more of three doses (0.5, 2.5, or 5 mg/kg, every 12 h for 5 days) in hospitalized SARS CoV-2-infected patients with HARF (20 per dose) and provide preliminary evidence that i.v. citicoline improves pulmonary outcomes in this population. The primary efficacy outcome will be the SpO2:FiO2 ratio on study day 3. Exploratory outcomes include Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) scores, dead space ventilation index, and lung compliance. Citicoline effects on a panel of COVID-relevant lung and blood biomarkers will also be determined. Discussion Citicoline has many characteristics that would be advantageous to any candidate COVID-19 therapeutic, including safety, low-cost, favorable chemical characteristics, and potentially pathogen-agnostic efficacy. Successful demonstration that citicoline is beneficial in severely ill patients with SARS CoV-2-induced HARF could transform management of severely ill COVID patients. Abstract Background Crizotinib, an oral first-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), is superior to systemic chemotherapy for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with positive rearrangement of anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK). However, an increased incidence of renal and hepatic cysts has been reported in the patients on crizotinib treatment. Case presentation Here, we describe a case of a 71-year-old Chinese women developed multiple cystic lesions in kidney and liver during crizotinib treatment for the primary and metastatic NSCLC. The renal and hepatic cysts were noted by CT scan 3 months after crizotinib treatment, which were spontaneously and significantly regressed after stopping crizotinib. Conclusions Based on literature review and our experience in this case report, we concluded that crizotinib-associated renal cyst (CARCs) has features of malignancy and abscess in radiographic imaging, and thus, pathological confirmation is necessary to avoid inappropriate treatment decision. In addition, to benefit the patients with progress-free survival (PFS), switching from crizotinib to alectinib is recommended for the treatment of NSCLC patients who developed CARCs.

Chimeric antigen receptor T cell denoted as CAR-T therapy has realized incredible therapeutic advancements for B cell malignancy treatment. However, its therapeutic validity has yet to be successfully achieved in solid tumors. Different from hematological cancers, solid tumors are characterized by dysregulated blood vessels, dense extracellular matrix, and filled with immunosuppressive signals, which together result in CAR-T cells’ insufficient infiltration and rapid dysfunction. The insufficient recognition of tumor cells and tumor heterogeneity eventually causes cancer reoccurrences. In addition, CAR-T therapy also raises safety concerns, including potential cytokine release storm, on-target/off-tumor toxicities, and neuro-system side effects. Here we comprehensively review various targeting aspects, including CAR-T cell design, tumor modulation, and delivery strategy. We believe it is essential to rationally design a combinatory CAR-T therapy via constructing optimized CAR-T cells, directly manipulating tumor tissue microenvironments, and selecting the most suitable delivery strategy to achieve the optimal outcome in both safety and efficacy.

Ion exchange is a promising synthetic method for alleviating severe cation mixing in traditional layered oxide materials for lithium-ion batteries, leading to enhanced structural stability. However, the underlying mechanisms of ion exchange are still not fully understood. Such a fundamental study of the ion-exchange mechanism is needed for achieving the controllable synthesis of layered oxides with a stable structure. Herein, we thoroughly unearth the underlying mechanism that triggers the ion exchange of Ni-rich materials in aqueous solutions by examining time-resolved structural evolution combined with theoretical calculations. Our results reveal that the reaction pathway of ion exchange can be divided into two steps: protonation and lithiation. The proton is the key to achieving charge balance in the ion exchange process, as revealed by X-ray adsorption spectroscopy and inductive coupled plasma analysis. In addition, the intermediate product shows high lattice distortion during ion exchange, but it ends up with a most stable product with high lattice energy. Such apparent discrepancies in lattice energy between materials before and after ion exchange emphasize the importance of synthetic design in structural stability. This work provides new insights into the ion-exchange synthesis of Ni-rich oxide materials, which advances the development of cathode materials for high-performance lithium-ion batteries.

IntroductionMild cognitive impairment (MCI) is an important stage in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) research, focusing on early pathogenic factors and mechanisms. Examining MCI patient subtypes and identifying their cognitive and neuropathological patterns as the disease progresses can enhance our understanding of the heterogeneous disease progression in the early stages of AD. However, few studies have thoroughly analyzed the subtypes of MCI, such as the cortical atrophy, and disease development characteristics of each subtype.MethodsIn this study, 396 individuals with MCI, 228 cognitive normal (CN) participants, and 192 AD patients were selected from ADNI database, and a semi-supervised mixture expert algorithm (MOE) with multiple classification boundaries was constructed to define AD subtypes. Moreover, the subtypes of MCI were obtained by using the multivariate linear boundary mapping of support vector machine (SVM). Then, the gray matter atrophy regions and severity of each MCI subtype were analyzed and the features of each subtype in demography, pathology, cognition, and disease progression were explored combining the longitudinal data collected for 2 years and analyzed important factors that cause conversion of MCI were analyzed.ResultsThree MCI subtypes were defined by MOE algorithm, and the three subtypes exhibited their own features in cortical atrophy. Nearly one-third of patients diagnosed with MCI have almost no significant difference in cerebral cortex from the normal aging population, and their conversion rate to AD are the lowest. The subtype characterized by severe atrophy in temporal lobe and frontal lobe have a faster decline rate in many cognitive manifestations than the subtype featured with diffuse atrophy in the whole cortex. APOE ε4 is an important factor that cause the conversion of MCI to AD.ConclusionIt was proved through the data-driven method that MCI collected by ADNI baseline presented different subtype features. The characteristics and disease development trajectories among subtypes can help to improve the prediction of clinical progress in the future and also provide necessary clues to solve the classification accuracy of MCI.

Currently, commercial cellular public networks such as 4G/5G have been widely deployed in China. In addition to serving general public customers, they are extensively used in the electric power industry for electricity information acquisition and distribution automation telemetry, as well as other non-control-related businesses. Simultaneously, power grid companies are actively studying and deploying electric power wireless private networks for bearing high-security control-related businesses such as distribution grid dispatching and distributed energy control. Electric power wireless private networks utilize dedicated spectrum resources, which operate on narrow individual carrier channels with numerous carriers in a discrete manner. These spectral characteristics indicate that electric power wireless private networks require unique system designs that are different from those of commercial cellular networks. Although some proposals have been proposed in relevant research, a unified and mature technical specification for electric power wireless private networks has not yet been established. This paper introduces the development history of electric power wireless private networks and power grid business requirements, with a specific emphasis on system design and key technologies, including frame structure and numerology, massive discrete carrier aggregation, spectrum sensing, security and isolation. We presented a comprehensive analysis and suggestions for these key technologies. Finally, we discuss future research on technological evolution. This study offers indications for an electric power wireless private network ecosystem.

Abstract Background Currently, there remains insufficient focus on non-severe community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) patients who are at risk of clinical deterioration, and there is also a dearth of research on the related risk factors. Early recognition of hospitalized patients at risk of clinical deterioration will be beneficial for their clinical management. Method A retrospective study was conducted in The First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University, China, spanning from January 1, 2018 to April 30, 2022, and involving a total of 1,632 non-severe CAP patients. Based on whether their condition worsened within 72 h of admission, patients were divided into a clinical deterioration group and a non-clinical deterioration group. Additionally, all patients were randomly assigned to a training set containing 75% of patients and a validation set containing 25% of patients. In the training set, risk factors for clinical deterioration in patients with non-severe CAP were identified by using LASSO regression analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis. A nomogram was developed based on identified risk factors. The effectiveness of the nomogram in both the training and validation sets was assessed using Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curves, calibration curves, and decision curve analysis (DCA). Results Age, body mass index (BMI), body temperature, cardiovascular comorbidity, respiratory rate, LDH level, lymphocyte count and D-dimer level were identified as risk factors associated with the clinical deterioration of non-severe CAP within 72 h of admission. The area under curve (AUC) value of the nomogram was 0.78 (95% CI: 0.74–0.82) in the training set and 0.75 (95% CI: 0.67–0.83) in the validation set. Furthermore, the calibration curves for both the training and validation sets indicated that the predicted probability of clinical deterioration aligned with the actual probability. Additionally, DCA revealed clinical utility for the nomogram at a specific threshold probability. Conclusion The study successfully identified the risk factors linked to the clinical deterioration of non-severe CAP and constructed a nomogram for predicting the probability of deterioration. The nomogram demonstrated favorable predictive performance and has the potential to aid in the early identification and management of non-severe CAP patients at elevated risk of deterioration.

Summary: Cardiac dysfunction, an early complication of endotoxemia, is the major cause of death in intensive care units. No specific therapy is available at present for this cardiac dysfunction. Here, we show that the N-terminal gasdermin D (GSDMD-N) initiates mitochondrial apoptotic pore and cardiac dysfunction by directly interacting with cardiolipin oxidized by complex II-generated reactive oxygen species (ROS) during endotoxemia. Caspase-4/11 initiates GSDMD-N pores that are subsequently amplified by the upregulation and activation of NLRP3 inflammation through further generation of ROS. GSDMD-N pores form prior to BAX and VDAC1 apoptotic pores and further incorporate into BAX and VDAC1 oligomers within mitochondria membranes to exacerbate the apoptotic process. Our findings identify oxidized cardiolipin as the definitive target of GSDMD-N in mitochondria of cardiomyocytes during endotoxin-induced myocardial dysfunction (EIMD), and modulation of cardiolipin oxidation could be a therapeutic target early in the disease process to prevent EIMD.

Isorhamnetin (ISO) is a phenolic compound belonging to flavonoid family, showcasing important in vitro pharmacological activities such as antitumor, anti-inflammation, and organ protection. ISO is predominantly extracted from Hippophae rhamnoides L. This plant is well-known in China and abroad because of its “medicinal and food homologous” characteristics. As a noteworthy natural drug candidate, ISO has received considerable attention in recent years owing to its low cost, wide availability, high efficacy, low toxicity, and minimal side effects. To comprehensively elucidate the multiple biological functions of ISO, particularly its antitumor activities and other pharmacological potentials, a literature search was conducted using electronic databases including Web of Science, PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus. This review primarily focuses on ISO’s ethnopharmacology. By synthesizing the advancements made in existing research, it is found that the general effects of ISO involve a series of in vitro potentials, such as antitumor, protection of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular, anti-inflammation, antioxidant, and more. This review illustrates ISO’s antitumor and other pharmacological potentials, providing a theoretical basis for further research and new drug development of ISO.

Yaodi Pao Zhuang (Monk Yaodi Distills the Essence of the Zhuangzi, 藥地炮莊), written by Ming dynasty scholar Fang Yizhi (1611–1671), was one of the greatest annotations of Zhuangzi 庄子 in the late Ming dynasty. However, the Buddhist thought in Yaodi Pao Zhuang has scarcely been examined. Drawing on the revival of the consciousness-only (vijñaptimātratā, 唯識) theory during the Ming dynasty, this study discussed how Fang Yizhi transformed the theory to annotate Zhuangzi in Yaodi Pao Zhuang through literature comparison and logical analysis. Meanwhile, from a speculative viewpoint drawing on Yi studies (studies of the Yi Jing, 易學), Fang Yizhi demonstrated that “storehouse consciousness” (alaya-vijnana, 阿賴耶識) could have contrasting properties of defilement (samklesa, 染) and purity (suddha, 淨). Moreover, he proposed “consciousness is wisdom” to replace the consciousness-only view of “transforming consciousness into wisdom” prevailing in the Tang dynasty, thus providing the conditions for the interpenetration of the consciousness-only doctrine into Zhuangzi. This study’s results highlight the positive implications of Fang Yizhi’s mutually supportive interaction model of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Daoism for addressing contemporary cultural conflicts.

The development of branching plays a pivotal role in the cultivation of ornamental chrysanthemums, as it dictates the ultimate morphology and quality of the plants. Strigolactones (SLs) are associated with apical dominance to indirectly inhibit shoot branching. Chrysanthemum morifolium ‘Baltasar’ in this study was subjected to treatment with three hormones: auxin (IAA), 6-BA, and GR24. Following the exogenous application of GR24 and IAA, a significant reduction in both the length and quantity of lateral buds on chrysanthemums was observed. Additionally, there was a notable down-regulation in the expression levels of CmPIN1 (associated with auxin transport) and CmIPT3, which is involved in cytokinin (CK) synthesis. After the application of 6-BA, there was a significant increase in both the length and quantity of lateral buds on chrysanthemums. Subsequently, the separate application of IAA and 6-BA to C. morifolium ‘Baltasar’ notably induced the expression of CmMAX1, a gene involved in the biosynthesis of strigolactones, and CmSMXL6, a gene associated with the signaling pathway of SLs, suggesting a negative regulatory role for SLs and auxin in chrysanthemum lateral buds, while CK demonstrated positive regulation. Cloning and expression analysis of CmSMXL6, a member of the D53/SMXL gene family in chrysanthemum, revealed its up-regulation following GR24 treatment, peaking at 9 h. The overexpression of CmSMXL6 in Arabidopsis thaliana promoted increased numbers of primary and secondary branches. In transgenic lines, genes associated with SLs synthesis (AtMAX1, AtMAX2, and AtMAX3) exhibited varying degrees of down-regulation, while the branching-inhibitory gene AtBRC1 also displayed decreased expression levels. These findings suggest that CmSMXL6 plays a role in promoting branching.

Chrysanthemums are among the world’s most popular cut flowers, with their color being a key ornamental feature. The formation of these colors can be influenced by high temperatures. However, the regulatory mechanisms that control the fading of chrysanthemum flower color under high-temperature stress remain unclear. This study investigates the impact of high temperatures on the color and biochemical responses of purple chrysanthemums. Four purple chrysanthemum varieties were exposed to both normal and elevated temperature conditions. High-temperature stress elicited distinct responses among the purple chrysanthemum varieties. ‘Zi Feng Che’ and ‘Chrystal Regal’ maintained color stability, whereas ‘Zi Hong Tuo Gui’ and ‘Zi lian’ exhibited significant color fading, particularly during early bloom stages. This fading was associated with decreased enzymatic activities, specifically of chalcone isomerase (CHI), dihydroflavonol 4-reductase (DFR), and anthocyanidin synthase (ANS), indicating a critical period of color development under heat stress. Additionally, the color fading of ‘Zi Lian’ was closely related to the increased activity of the peroxidase (POD) and polyphenol oxidase (PPO). Conversely, a reduction in β-glucosidase (βG) activity may contribute significantly to the color steadfastness of ‘Zi Feng Che’. The genes Cse_sc027584.1_g010.1 (PPO) and Cse_sc031727.1_g010.1 (POD) might contribute to the degradation of anthocyanins in the petals of ‘Zi Hong Tuo Gui’ and ‘Zi Lian’ under high-temperature conditions, while simultaneously maintaining the stability of anthocyanins in ‘Zi Feng Che’ and ‘Chrystal Regal’ at the early bloom floral stage. The findings of this research provide new insights into the physiological and biochemical mechanisms by which chrysanthemum flower color responds to high-temperature stress.

The adhesion of dust particles on the surface of the dust collector tends to cause great resistance to the dust collector and affects the operating efficiency. In order to visualize particles in the filtration process and to grasp the mechanism of particle viscosity and sphericity on filtration performance, a numerical simulation study was conducted to investigate the deposition behavior of particles during filtration, employing FLUENT-EDEM coupling technology. By examining the deposition process, the role of particle characteristics on dust behavior within the entire filtration system was elucidated. The effects of varying particle surface energy and particle sphericity on filtration pressure drop and cake porosity were analyzed. The findings reveal that under the force of the air, particles on the surface of the filter membrane experience compaction, leading to a reduction in the porosity of the formed cake layer. The diminution of porosity serves to impede the air, consequently augmenting the pressure drop across the filtration system and hindering the operational efficacy of the dust collector. As the surface energy of the particles increases, the adhesive forces between particles are intensified, leading to an elevation in the porosity of the cake layer and a subsequent decrease in the pressure drop. When the surface energy of the particles is increased from 0.01 J/m2 to 0.04 J/m2, the porosity experiences a modest increase of only 9.1%, yet the pressure drop is significantly reduced by half, amounting to a decrease of 1594 Pa. Under high particle surface energy, as filtration air velocity increases, particles are compressed, resulting in a decrease in cake porosity and an increase in pressure drop. Concurrently, our findings indicate that as the sphericity of particles increases, their surfaces become increasingly smooth which in turn results in a decreased porosity of the cake layer and, consequently, an elevation in the filtration pressure drop.

ABSTRACT The bacteriophage is an effective adjunct to existing antibiotic therapy; however, in the course of bacteriophage therapy, host bacteria will develop resistance to bacteriophages, thus affecting the efficacy. Therefore, it is important to describe how bacteria evade bacteriophage attack and the consequences of the biological changes that accompany the development of bacteriophage resistance before the bacteriophage is applied. The specific bacteriophage vB3530 of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) has stable biological characteristics, short incubation period, strong in vitro cleavage ability, and absence of virulence or resistance genes. Ten bacteriophage-resistant strains (TL3780-R) were induced using the secondary infection approach, and the plaque assay showed that vB3530 was less sensitive to TL3780-R. Identification of bacteriophage adsorption receptors showed that the bacterial surface polysaccharide was probably the adsorption receptor of vB3530. In contrast to the TL3780 parental strain, TL3780-R is characterized by the absence of long lipopolysaccharide chains, which may be caused by base insertion of wzy or deletion of galU. It is also intriguing to observe that, in comparison to the parent strain, the bacteriophage-resistant strains TL3780-R mostly exhibited a large cost of fitness (growth rate, biofilm formation, motility, and ability to produce enhanced pyocyanin). In addition, TL3780-R9 showed increased susceptibility to aminoglycosides and chlorhexidine, which may be connected to the loss and down-regulation of mexX expression. Consequently, these findings fully depicted the resistance mechanism of P. aeruginosa to vB3530 and the fitness cost of bacteriophage resistance, laying a foundation for further application of bacteriophage therapy.IMPORTANCEThe bacteriophage is an effective adjunct to existing antibiotic therapy; However, bacteria also develop defensive mechanisms against bacteriophage attack. Thus, there is an urgent need to deeply understand the resistance mechanism of bacteria to bacteriophages and the fitness cost of bacteriophage resistance so as to lay the foundation for subsequent application of the phage. In this study, a specific bacteriophage vB3530 of P. aeruginosa had stable biological characteristics, short incubation period, strong in vitro cleavage ability, and absence of virulence or resistance genes. In addition, we found that P. aeruginosa may lead to phage resistance due to the deletion of galU and the base insertion of wzy, involved in the synthesis of lipopolysaccharides. Simultaneously, we showed the association with the biological state of the bacteria after bacteria acquire bacteriophage resistance, which is extremely relevant to guide the future application of therapeutic bacteriophages.

Recent studies suggest a shared genetic architecture between muscle and bone, yet the underlying molecular mechanisms remain elusive. This study aims to identify the functionally annotated genes with shared genetic architecture between muscle and bone using the most up-to-date genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary statistics from bone mineral density (BMD) and fracture-related genetic variants. We employed an advanced statistical functional mapping method to investigate shared genetic architecture between muscle and bone, focusing on genes highly expressed in muscle tissue. Our analysis identified three genes, EPDR1, PKDCC, and SPTBN1, which are highly expressed in muscle tissue and previously unlinked to bone metabolism. About 90% and 85% of filtered Single-Nucleotide Polymorphisms were in the intronic and intergenic regions for the threshold at P≤5×10-8 and P≤5×10-100, respectively. EPDR1 was highly expressed in multiple tissues, including muscles, adrenal glands, blood vessels, and the thyroid. SPTBN1 was highly expressed in all 30 tissue types except blood, while PKDCC was highly expressed in all 30 tissue types except the brain, pancreas, and skin. Our study provides a framework for using GWAS findings to highlight functional evidence of crosstalk between multiple tissues based on shared genetic architecture between muscle and bone. Further research should focus on functional validation, multi-omics data integration, gene-environment interactions, and clinical relevance in musculoskeletal disorders.

Artificial Intelligence (AI), encompassing Machine Learning and Deep Learning, has increasingly been applied to fracture detection using diverse imaging modalities and data types. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the efficacy of AI in detecting fractures through various imaging modalities and data types (image, tabular, or both) and to synthesize the existing evidence related to AI-based fracture detection. Peer-reviewed studies developing and validating AI for fracture detection were identified through searches in multiple electronic databases without time limitations. A hierarchical meta-analysis model was used to calculate pooled sensitivity and specificity. A diagnostic accuracy quality assessment was performed to evaluate bias and applicability. Of the 66 eligible studies, 54 identified fractures using imaging-related data, nine using tabular data, and three using both. Vertebral fractures were the most common outcome (n = 20), followed by hip fractures (n = 18). Hip fractures exhibited the highest pooled sensitivity (92%; 95% CI: 87-96, p< 0.01) and specificity (90%; 95% CI: 85-93, p< 0.01). Pooled sensitivity and specificity using image data (92%; 95% CI: 90-94, p< 0.01; and 91%; 95% CI: 88-93, p < 0.01) were higher than those using tabular data (81%; 95% CI: 77-85, p< 0.01; and 83%; 95% CI: 76-88, p < 0.01), respectively. Radiographs demonstrated the highest pooled sensitivity (94%; 95% CI: 90-96, p < 0.01) and specificity (92%; 95% CI: 89-94, p< 0.01). Patient selection and reference standards were major concerns in assessing diagnostic accuracy for bias and applicability. AI displays high diagnostic accuracy for various fracture outcomes, indicating potential utility in healthcare systems for fracture diagnosis. However, enhanced transparency in reporting and adherence to standardized guidelines are necessary to improve the clinical applicability of AI. Review Registration: PROSPERO (CRD42021240359).

The plant homeodomain finger (PHD finger) protein, a type of zinc finger protein extensively distributed in eukaryotes, plays diverse roles in regulating plant growth and development. While PHD finger proteins have been identified in various species, their functions remain largely unexplored in pea (Pisum sativum). In this study, we identified 84 members of the PHD finger gene family in pea, which displayed an uneven distribution across seven chromosomes. Through a comprehensive analysis using data from Arabidopsis thaliana and Medicago truncatula, we categorized the PHD finger proteins into 20 subfamilies via phylogenetic tree analysis. Each subfamily exhibited distinct variations in terms of quantity, genetic structure, conserved domains, and physical and chemical properties. Collinearity analysis revealed conserved evolutionary relationships among the PHD finger genes across the three different species. Furthermore, we identified the conserved and important roles of the subfamily M members in anther development. RT-qPCR and in situ hybridization revealed high expression of the pea subfamily M members PsPHD11 and PsPHD16 in microspores and the tapetum layer. In conclusion, this analysis of the PHD finger family in pea provides valuable guidance for future research on the biological roles of PHD finger proteins in pea and other leguminous plants.

In this paper, a new type of assembling rivet-fastened rectangular hollow flange beams (ARHFBs) is proposed. The cross-section of the ARHFB consists of two U-shaped and C-shaped components connected by self-locking rivets to form two rectangular hollow flanges. To study the performance and strength of the ARHFB as a flexural member, eight four-point bending tests and more than 40 simulation studies were carried out. The details, results, and comparison of the four-point bending tests, especially the characteristics of the test bench and the lateral support, are presented in this paper. ARHFB sections with varied rivet spacing, web depth, and flange width were experimentally studied. Additionally, a parametric study of ARHFB was conducted using finite element models verified by test results. The influence of span on the loading capacity of ARHFB was discussed. ARHFB can be used in large-span buildings. A more economical ARHFB component selection method was given. The depth of the flange, the strength of the web, and the thickness of the web are important parameters of ARHFB. The loading capacity obtained from the test was compared with the predicted values of the design formulas in the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) and the Chinese design standard for cold-rolled steel (GB50018). The calculation and verification of ARHFB flange buckling and lateral torsional buckling were also considered. It is recommended that GB50018 be used to predict the flexural capacity of ARHFBs.

Pipe bursts in water distribution networks (WDNs) pose significant threats to the safety of distribution networks, driving attention to deep learning-based burst detection and localization. However, the applicability of different pressure features still needs to be compared and verified. A large number of nodes challenges deep learning with the excessive number of classification categories and low recognition accuracy. To address these problems, this paper extracts different burst pressure features, including pressure value, pressure difference, and pressure fluctuation ratio, and inputs one of these features into a Burst Diagnosis Multi-Stage Model (BDMM) based on three CS-LSTMs (a combination of the Cuckoo Search algorithm and a long short-term memory network). The first model addresses a binary classification problem, outputting labels indicating whether a pipe burst has occurred. The second one solves a multi-classification problem, outputting the label of the burst partition, and the third model also solves a multi-classification problem, outputting the ID of the bursting junction. The model is tested on a real network and outperforms ELM. For basic burst identification tasks using CS-LSTM, differences among the three features are minimal, while pressure difference and pressure fluctuation ratio exhibit superior performance to pressure value when resolving more complex problems like burst junction localization.

Background: Environmental conditions, such as photoperiod, affect the developmental response of plants; thus, plants have evolved molecular mechanisms to adapt to changes in photoperiod. In Bougainvillea spp., the mechanism of flower formation underlying flowering control techniques remains poorly understood, and the physiological changes that occur during flower bud formation and the expression of related genes are not yet fully understood. Methods: In this study, we induced flowering of potted Bougainvillea glabra ‘Sao Paulo’ plants under light-control treatments and analyzed their effects on flowering time, number of flower buds, flowering quality, as well as quality of flower formation, which was analyzed using transcriptome sequencing. Results: Light-control treatment effectively induced the rapid formation of flower buds and early flowering in B. glabra ‘Sao Paulo’, with the time of flower bud formation being 119 days earlier and the flowering period extended six days longer than those of the control plants. The light-control treatment caused the bracts to become smaller and lighter in color, while the number of flowers increased, and the neatness of flowering improved. Transcriptome sequencing of the apical buds identified 1235 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) related to the pathways of environmental adaptation, biosynthesis of other secondary metabolites, glycan biosynthesis and metabolism, and energy metabolism. DEGs related to gibberellin metabolism were analyzed, wherein five DEGs were identified between the control and treatment groups. Transcriptomic analysis revealed that the gibberellin regulatory pathway is linked to flowering. Specifically, GA and GID1 levels increased during this process, enhancing DELLA protein degradation. However, decreasing this protein’s binding to CO did not halt FT upregulation, thereby advancing the flowering of B. glabra ‘Sao Paulo’. Conclusions: The findings of our study have implications for future research on photoperiod and its role in controlling flowering timing of Bougainvillea spp.

In order to investigate the effect of a synthetic jet arranged at the suction surface on the aerodynamic performance of an axial flow compressor, a high-speed subsonic axial flow compressor rotor was numerically simulated in this paper. The results showed that after being excited by the synthetic jet, the flow margin of the compressor decreased by 1.3%, but the peak efficiency increased by 0.47%. After analyzing the internal flow field, it was found that although the alternating blowing and suction effect of the synthetic jet can reduce the separation loss of the suction surface, the radial velocity of the flow is higher when stimulated and converges towards the blade tip, resulting in more severe blockage at the blade tip than in the prototype compressor, leading to a slight decrease in stability margin. To balance the stability margin of the compressor, a coupled flow control numerical simulation combining passive control of the casing treatment and active control of the suction surface synthetic jet was subsequently carried out. The results showed that the coupled flow control could exert their respective advantages, resulting in an increase of 17.84% in the compressor flow margin and a decrease of only 0.2% in peak efficiency.

Tetranychus urticae is a highly polyphagous and global pest. Spider mites primarily feed on the underside of leaves, resulting in decreased photosynthesis, nutritional loss, and the development of chlorotic patches. We investigated the life tables of the two-spotted spider mite T. urticae on fungal endophyte Beauveria bassiana colonized and untreated plants of the common Phaseolus vulgaris L., a bean plant. Based on the age-stage, two-sex life table theory, data were evaluated. The mites raised on untreated plants had protonymphs, deutonymphs, and total pre-adult stage durations that were considerably shorter (1.76, 2.14, and 9.77 d, respectively) than the mites raised on plants that had been colonized (2.02, 2.45, and 10.49 d, respectively). The fecundity (F) varied from 28.01 eggs per female of colonized plants to 57.67 eggs per female of endophyte-untreated plants. The net reproductive rate (R0) in the plants with and without endophytes was 19.26 and 42.53 brood, respectively. The untreated plants had an intrinsic rate of increase (rm) of 0.245 days as opposed to the colonized plants, which had an r of 0.196 days and a finite rate of increase (λ) (1.27 and 1.21, respectively). Population forecasts based on a two-sex, age-stage life table demonstrated the dynamism and variability of the stage structure. Furthermore, the colonization of B. bassiana had a negative impact on the growth and development of T. urticae. It lowered the adult mite life span, female fecundity, net reproduction rate, and intrinsic growth rate. We propose that future research should better use entomopathogenic fungal endophytes to understand host plant resistance strategies in integrated pest management.

This research is the first application of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) equipped with Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) servers to offshore wind farms, providing a new task offloading solution to address the challenge of scarce edge servers in offshore wind farms. The proposed strategy is to offload the computational tasks in this scenario to other MEC servers and compute them proportionally, which effectively reduces the computational pressure on local MEC servers when wind turbine data are abnormal. Finally, the task offloading problem is modeled as a multi-intelligent deep reinforcement learning problem, and a task offloading model based on Multi-Agent Deep Reinforcement Learning (MADRL) is established. The Adaptive Genetic Algorithm (AGA) is used to explore the action space of the Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG), which effectively solves the problem of slow convergence of the DDPG algorithm in the high-dimensional action space. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm, AGA-DDPG, saves approximately 61.8%, 55%, 21%, and 33% of the overall overhead compared to local MEC, random offloading, TD3, and DDPG, respectively. The proposed strategy is potentially important for improving real-time monitoring, big data analysis, and predictive maintenance of offshore wind farm operation and maintenance systems. Green credit financing is closely related to corporate credit rating, so conducting in-depth research on the differentiation of green credit has practical significance. For the three-stage supply chain system composed of risk avoidance suppliers, retailers and banks, suppliers face a capital gap to produce green products to meet market demand. Based on Stackelberg game theory, this paper establishes a bank green credit and mixed financing model to study the best financing strategy of suppliers under differentiated green credit. Research shows that credit rating is not always positively correlated with product greenness, and it is important for enterprises to improve their own credit rating; the higher the degree of suppliers' risk avoidance, the lower their utility profit; only when the green sensitivity coefficient is low, the conclusion that retailers are more willing to choose to cooperate with suppliers with high credit rating is inevitable; banks providing loans to suppliers with middle credit rating can maximize their profits, and providing loans to suppliers with high credit rating can better stimulate green production. Background: Breast cancer lung metastasis occurs at a high rate and at an early stage, and is the leading cause of death in breast cancer patients. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Ru'ai Shuhou Recipe (RSR) intervention on the occurrence of recurrent metastases, especially lung metastases, in postoperative patients with breast cancer. Materials and Methods: A retrospective cohort study was implemented at Shuguang Hospital of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China between January 2014 to January 2019. Female patients were included according to the propensity scorematching (PSM) method and balanced on the basis of general and clinical information such as age, body mass index, neoadjuvant therapy, and surgical approach. Patients with pathological diagnosis of breast cancer were included in this study. Breast cancer patients were divided into exposed and non-exposed groups according to whether they took RSRbased botanical drugs after surgery. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and Cox survival analysis to explore the relationship between RSR and 5-year diseasefree survival and incidence of lung metastases in breast cancer patients after surgery. Results: 360 female patients were assessed and 190 patients were included in the study after PSM (95 in each of the exposed and non-exposed groups). Of the 190 patients after PSM, 55.79% were over 50 years of age. The mean follow-up time was 60.55 ± 14.82 months in the exposed group and 57.12 ± 16.37 months in the non-exposed group. There was no significant baseline characteristics difference between two groups. Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that the 5-year incidence of lung metastases was significantly lower in the exposed group, and the disease-free survival of patients was significantly longer. Cox univariate and multivariate analysis showed that neoadjuvant chemotherapy and lymph node metastasis were independent risk factors for the development of breast cancer lung metastasis, with risk ratios of 17.188 and 5.812, while RSR treatment was an independent protective factor against the development of breast cancer lung metastasis, with a risk ratio of 0.290. Conclusion: Standard biomedical treatment combined with RSR intervention can better prevent breast cancer recurrence and metastasis, reduce the incidence of lung metastasis in patients, and improve long-term prognosis. Objective: To explore the effect of targeted psychological nursing, combined with physical activity, on self-management efficacy and compliance in patients with ovarian cancer undergoing chemotherapy, with a specific focus on athletes or physically active individuals. Methods: A total of 90 patients, including athletes and physically active individuals, diagnosed with ovarian cancer and receiving chemotherapy at our hospital from May 2019 to May 2021, were selected for this study. They were randomly divided into a control group and a study group, with 45 cases in each group. The control group received routine nursing care, while the study group was given targeted psychological nursing interventions in conjunction with structured physical activity programs. Selfmanagement efficacy, compliance, mental state, and quality of life were observed and compared between the two groups. Results: After 2 weeks and 3 months of intervention, the level of self-management efficacy in both groups was higher than before the intervention, with the study group showing significantly higher levels than the control group (P <0.05). The complete compliance rate in the study group was 75.55%, significantly higher than the control group's 44.44% (P<0.05). Post-intervention scores for the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), and Cancer-Related Fatigue (CRF) were lower in both groups compared to pre-intervention, with the study group showing significantly greater improvements than the control group (P <0.05). Furthermore, the life quality scores, particularly in physical status, emotional status, social and family interactions, and ovarian cancer-specific modules, were significantly higher in the study group compared to the control group (P <0.05). Conclusion: The implementation of targeted psychological nursing measures, coupled with structured physical activity, significantly improves self-management efficacy, treatment compliance, and quality of life in ovarian cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, particularly among athletes and physically active individuals.
