Search

Power Density Spectrum (PDS) is one of the powerful tools to study light curves of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). We show the average PDS and individual PDS analysis with {\it Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope} (also named \insighthxmt) GRBs data. The values of power-law index of average PDS ($\alpha_{\bar{P}}$) for long GRBs (LGRBs) vary from 1.58-1.29 (for 100-245, 245-600, and 600-2000 keV). The \insighthxmt\ data allow us to extend the energy of the LGRBs up to 2000 keV, and a relation between $\alpha_{\bar{P}}$ and energy $E$, $\alpha_{\bar{P}}\propto E^{-0.09}$ (8-2000 keV) is obtained. We first systematically investigate the average PDS and individual PDS for short GRBs (SGRBs), and obtain $\alpha_{\bar{P}}\propto E^{-0.07}$ (8-1000 keV), where the values of $\alpha_{\bar{P}}$ vary from 1.86 to 1.34. The distribution of power-law index of individual PDS ($\alpha$) of SGRB, is consistent with that of LGRB, and the $\alpha$ value for the dominant timescale group (the bent power-law, BPL) is higher than that for the no-dominant timescale group (the single power-law, PL). Both LGRBs and SGRBs show similar $\alpha$ and $\alpha_{\bar{P}}$, which indicates that they may be the result of similar stochastic processes. The typical value of dominant timescale $\tau$ for LGRBs and SGRBs is 1.58 s and 0.02 s, respectively. It seems that the $\tau$ in proportion to the duration of GRBs $T_{90}$, with a relation $\tau \propto T_{90}^{0.86}$. The GRB light curve may result from superposing a number of pulses with different timescales. No periodic and quasi-periodical signal above the 3$\sigma$ significance threshold is found in our sample.

Kagome superconductors AV3Sb5 (A = K, Rb, and Cs) have attracted considerable attention due to their intriguing combination of unique electron correlations and nontrivial band topology. The interplay of these fundamental aspects gives rise to a diverse array of exotic electronic phenomena, including superconductivity and charge density wave (CDW) states. In this review, we present recent advancements in the study of the electronic band structure of AV3Sb5 using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), including the identification of the multiple van Hove singularities near the Fermi level and their close relationship with the CDW transition, spectroscopic features related to CDW-induced symmetry breakings, as well as direct observations of nodeless superconducting gaps and moderate electron-phonon couplings through ultrahigh-resolution ARPES, providing critical insights into the origins of CDW order and electron pairing symmetry. Here we review scanning tunneling microscopy research on the surface determination for various types of kagome materials, including 11-type (CoSn, FeSn, FeGe), 32-type (Fe3Sn2), 13-type (Mn3Sn), 135-type (AV3Sb5, A = K, Rb, Cs), 166-type (TbMn6Sn6, YMn6Sn6 and ScV6Sn6), and 322-type (Co3Sn2S2 and Ni3In2Se2). We first demonstrate that the measured step height between different surfaces typically deviates from the expected value of +-0.4~0.8A, which is owing to the tunneling convolution effect with electronic states and becomes a serious issue for Co3Sn2S2 where the expected Sn-S interlayer distance is 0.6A. Hence, we put forward a general methodology for surface determination as atomic step geometry imaging, which is fundamental but also experimentally challenging to locate the step and to image with atomic precision. We discuss how this method can be used to resolve the surface termination puzzle in Co3Sn2S2. This method provides a natural explanation for the existence of adatoms and vacancies, and beyond using unknown impurity states, we propose and use designer layer-selective substitutional chemical markers to confirm the validity of this method. Finally, we apply this method to determine the surface of a new kagome material Ni3In2Se2, as a cousin of Co3Sn2S2, and we image the underlying kagome geometry on the determined Se surface above the kagome layer, which directly visualizes the p-d hybridization physics. We emphasize that this general method does not rely on theory, but the determined surface identity can provide guidelines for first-principles calculations with adjustable parameters on the surface-dependent local density of states and quasi-particle interference patterns.

We analyze the clean cusp, seen in the $\eta \pi$ mass distribution with high precision of the $\chi_{c1} \to \eta \pi^+ \pi^-$ reaction in the BESIII experiment, with the aim of making a precise determination of the scattering length $a$ and effective range $r_0$ of $K^+ \bar{K}^{0}$. For that, we follow a previous theoretical work that gave a good reproduction of these data using the chiral unitary approach for the meson-meson interaction, and allow some flexibility in the input to carry a better fit to the data. The important task of determining the uncertainties in the scattering parameters is done using the resampling method and an accuracy in $a$ and $r_0$ is obtained better than $20\%$. The pairing mechanism in an antiferromagnetic (AFM) bosonic $t$-$J$ model is investigated via large-scale density matrix renormalization group calculations. In contrast to the competing orders in the fermionic $t$-$J$ model, we discover that a pair density wave (PDW) of tightly bound hole pairs coexists with the AFM order forming a ``supersolid'' at small doping in the bosonic model. The pairing order collapses at larger doping to a superfluid of single-boson condensation with the spin background polarized to a ferromagnetic (FM) order simultaneously. This pairing phase will disappear once a hidden quantum many-body Berry phase in the model is artificially switched off. Such a Berry phase, termed the phase string, introduces the sole ``sign problem'' in this bosonic model and imposes quantum phase frustration in the interference pattern between spin and charge degrees of freedom. Only via tightly pairing of doped holes, can such quantum frustration be most effectively erased in an AFM background. By contrast, the pairing vanishes as such a Berry phase trivializes in an FM background or is switched off by a sign-problem-free model (the Bose-Hubbard model at large $U$). The pairing mechanism proposed here is inherently quantum and many-body, stemming from exotic interference patterns caused by strong correlation effects, which is distinct from the semi-classical mechanisms based on bosonic fluctuations. Experimental schemes have been recently proposed to realize the bosonic $t$-$J$ model on ultracold Rydberg atom arrays, offering a useful platform to test the present unconventional pairing mechanism, which is also relevant to the fermionic case associated with high-temperature superconductors., Comment: 28 pages, 4+11 figures

Large language models have achieved notable success across various domains, yet efficient inference is still limited by the quadratic computation complexity of the attention mechanism. The inference consists of prefilling and decoding phases. Although several attempts have been made to accelerate decoding, the inefficiency of the prefilling phase, especially for long-context tasks, remains a challenge. In this paper, we observe a locality in query criticality during the prefilling phase of long-context processing: adjacent query tokens tend to focus on similar subsets of the past Key-Value (KV) cache. Based on this observation, we propose CritiPrefill, a criticality-based segment-wise prefilling method. This method partitions the input sequence's queries and KV cache into segments and blocks, utilizing a segment-wise algorithm to estimate the query criticality. By pruning non-critical computations between query segments and cache blocks in the self-attention mechanism, the prefilling process can be significantly accelerated. Extensive evaluations on multiple long-context datasets show up to 2.7x speedup on Llama3-8B and 3.0x speedup on Yi-9B for 128K context length on a single A100 GPU, with minimal quality degradation.

The original compass state, created by superposing four coherent states, yields anisotropic sub-Planck structures and demonstrates enhanced sensitivity to perturbations, offering advantages for quantum sensing. We propose two variants of this compass state by simultaneously applying photon addition and subtraction in different orders: one with addition first and one with subtraction first to the state. Our variants display sub-Planck structures and improved sensitivity to displacements, with photon addition and subtraction influencing these characteristics. In our cases, adding photons increases the average photon number, while photon subtraction lowers it in the first case and has no effect in the second. Furthermore, an increment in the added number of photons uniformly reduces the size of sub-Planck structures, whereas increasing the number of photons subtracted from the state causes these sub-Planck structures to expand in size; higher photon addition improves sensitivity, while photon subtraction decreases it. Remarkably, under optimal parameters, our specific variants achieve isotropic sub-Planck structures and provide isotropic enhanced sensitivity across all directions, surpassing compass states., Comment: 14 pages, and 9 figures

We report a layered transition-metal-ordered oxypnictide Sr$_{2}$CrCoAsO$_{3}$. The new material was synthesized by solid-state reactions under vacuum. It has an intergrowth structure with a perovskite-like Sr$_3$Cr$_2$O$_6$ unit and ThCr$_2$Si$_2$-type SrCo$_2$As$_2$ block stacking coherently along the crystallographic $c$ axis. The measurements of electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, and specific heat indicate metallic conductivity from the CoAs layers and short-range antiferromagnetic ordering in the CrO$_{2}$ planes. No itinerant-electron ferromagnetism expected in CoAs layers is observed. This result, combined with the first-principles calculations and the previous reports of other CoAs-layer-based materials, suggests that the Co$-$Co bondlength plays a crucial role in the emergence of itinerant ferromagnetism., Comment: 9 pages, 7 figures

The non-Hermitian skin effect (NHSE) is a distinctive topological phenomenon observed in nonHermitian systems. Recently, there has been considerable interest in exploring higher-order NHSE occurrences in two and three dimensions. In such systems, topological edge states collapse into a corner while bulk states remain delocalized. Through a Hermitian-non-Hermitian correspondence, this study predicts and experimentally observes the higher-order NHSE in an acoustic Kagome lattice possessing nonreciprocal hoppings. By rotating the frequency spectrum and employing complexfrequency excitation techniques, we observe the localization of acoustic energy towards a corner of the lattice in the topologically nontrivial phase, even when the source is located far from that corner. In contrast, the acoustic energy spreads out when excited at the frequencies hosting the bulk states. These observations are unequivocal evidence of the higher-order NHSE.

We propose a scheme to generate low driving threshold quantum correlations in Brillouin optomechanical system based on synthetic magnetism. Our proposal consists of a mechanical (acoustic) resonator coupled to two optical modes through the standard optomechanical radiation pressure (an electrostrictive force). The electrostrictive force that couples the acoustic mode to the optical ones striggers Backward Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (BSBS) process in the system. Moreover, the mechanical and acoustic resonators are mechanically coupled through the coupling rate $J_m$, which is $\theta$-phase modulated. Without a mechanical coupling, the generated quantum correlations require a strong driving field. By accounting phonon hopping coupling, the synthetic magnetism is induced and the quantum correlations are generated for low coupling strengths. The generated quantum correlations display sudden death and revival phenonmena, and are robust against thermal noise. Our results suggest a way for low threshold quantum correlations generation, and are useful for quantum communications, quantum sensors, and quantum computational tasks., Comment: 10 pages, 7 figures. The interplay of topology, magnetism, and correlations gives rise to intriguing phases of matter. In this study, through state-of-the-art angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, density functional theory and dynamical mean-field theory calculations, we visualize a fourfold degenerate Dirac nodal line at the boundary of the bulk Brillouin zone in the antiferromagnet YMn2Ge2. We further demonstrate that this gapless, antiferromagnetic Dirac nodal line is enforced by the combination of magnetism, space-time inversion symmetry and nonsymmorphic lattice symmetry. The corresponding drumhead surface states traverse the whole surface Brillouin zone. YMn2Ge2 thus serves as a platform to exhibit the interplay of multiple degenerate nodal physics and antiferromagnetism. Interestingly, the magnetic nodal line displays a d-orbital dependent renormalization along its trajectory in momentum space, thereby manifesting Hund coupling. Our findings offer insights into the effect of electronic correlations on magnetic Dirac nodal lines, leading to an antiferromagnetic Hund nodal line.

Recent studies have found that all three materials within the vanadium-based kagome superconductors ($\textit{A}$V$_{3}$Sb$_{5}$, $\textit{A}$ = K, Cs, Rb) exhibit time-reversal symmetry-breaking behaviors in the superconducting states. Among the three, the Josephson junctions structured Nb/K$_{1-x}$V$_{3}$Sb$_{5}$/Nb and RbV$_{3}$Sb$_{5}$ show magnetic hysteresis below the superconducting transition temperature. CsV$_{3}$Sb$_{5}$ exhibits a zero-field superconducting diode effect, meaning the magnitude of the positive and negative superconducting critical currents are different. We first discuss the similarities and differences among the three above-mentioned experiments. Then, we discuss the possible mechanisms responsible for the unconventional superconducting transport phenomena: such as a chiral superconducting order parameter, and chiral pair density waves arising from the intertwining of the chiral charge order with superconductivity.

Pair density wave (PDW) is an intriguing quantum matter proposed in the frontier of condensed matter physics. However, the existence of PDW in microscopic models has been rare. In this work, we obtain, by Ginzburg-Landau arguments and self-consistent mean field theory, novel $2a_0\times2a_0$ PDW on the kagome lattice arising from attractive on-bond pairing interactions and the distinct Bloch wave functions near the p-type van Hove singularity. The PDW state carrying three independent wave-vectors, the so-called 3Q PDW, is nodeless and falls into two topological classes characterized by the Chern number $C = 0$ or $C = \pm2$. The chiral ($C=\pm2$) PDW state presents a rare case of interaction driven topological quantum state without the requirement of spin-orbit coupling. Finally, we analyze the stabilities and properties of these PDWs intertwining with charge orders, and discuss the relevance of our minimal model to recent experimental observations in kagome superconductors. Our theory not only elucidates the driving force of the chiral PDW, but also predicts strongly anisotropic superconducting gap structure in the momentum space and quantized transverse thermal conductivity that can be tested in future experiments., Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures

Superconductivity and magnetism are antagonistic quantum matter, while their intertwining has long been considered in frustrated-lattice systems1-3. In this work, we utilize scanning tunneling microscopy and muon spin resonance to discover time-reversal symmetry-breaking superconductivity in kagome metal Cs(V,Ta)3Sb5, where the Cooper pairing exhibits magnetism and is modulated by it. In the magnetic channel, we observe spontaneous internal magnetism in a full-gap superconducting state. Under perturbations of inverse magnetic fields, we detect a time-reversal asymmetrical interference of Bogoliubov quasi-particles at a circular vector. At this vector, the pairing gap spontaneously modulates, which is distinct from pair density waves occurring at a point vector and consistent with the theoretical proposal of unusual interference effect under time-reversal symmetry-breaking. The correlation between internal magnetism, Bogoliubov quasi-particles, and pairing modulation provides a chain of experimental clues for time-reversal symmetry-breaking kagome superconductivity., Comment: To appear in Nature Materials (2024)

Superconductivity involving finite momentum pairing can lead to spatial gap and pair density modulations, as well as Bogoliubov Fermi states within the superconducting gap. However, the experimental realization of their intertwined relations has been challenging. Here, we detect chiral kagome superconductivity modulations with residual Fermi arcs in KV3Sb5 and CsV3Sb5 by normal and Josephson scanning tunneling microscopy down to 30mK with resolved electronic energy difference at microelectronvolt level. We observe a U-shaped superconducting gap with flat residual in-gap states. This gap exhibits chiral 2 by 2 spatial modulations with magnetic field tunable chirality, which align with the chiral 2 by 2 pair density modulations observed through Josephson tunneling. These findings demonstrate a chiral pair density wave (PDW) that breaks time-reversal symmetry. Quasiparticle interference imaging of the in-gap zero-energy states reveals segmented arcs, with high-temperature data linking them to parts of the reconstructed V d-orbital states within the charge order. The detected residual Fermi arcs can be explained by the partial suppression of these d-orbital states through an interorbital 2 by 2 PDW and thus serve as candidate Bogoliubov Fermi states. Additionally, we differentiate the observed PDW order from impurity-induced gap modulations. Our observations not only uncover a chiral PDW order with orbital-selectivity, but also illuminate the fundamental space-momentum correspondence inherent in finite momentum paired superconductivity., Comment: To appear in Nature (2024)

The kagome spin ice can host frustrated magnetic excitations by flipping its local spin. Under an inelastic tunneling condition, the tip in a scanning tunneling microscope can flip the local spin, and we apply this technique to kagome metal HoAgGe with a long-range ordered spin ice ground state. Away from defects, we discover a pair of pronounced dips in the local tunneling spectrum at symmetrical bias voltages with negative intensity values, serving as a striking inelastic tunneling signal. This signal disappears above the spin ice formation temperature and has a dependence on the magnetic fields, demonstrating its intimate relation with the spin ice magnetism. We provide a two-level spin-flip model to explain the tunneling dips considering the spin ice magnetism under spin-orbit coupling. Our results uncover a local emergent excitation of spin ice magnetism in a kagome metal, suggesting that local electrical field induced spin flip climbs over a barrier caused by spin-orbital locking.

In his seminal work published in Acta Physica Sinica in 1965, Yu Lu pointed out that the superconducting gap exhibits weak modulations near the pair-breaking magnetic impurity in a superconductor. In the past ten years, a series of high-resolution scanning tunneling microscopy works reported weak superconducting gap modulations in certain superconductors and explained these phenomena as pair density waves. In line with Yu's discovery, Lee DH et al. pointed out that in many cases, the interference effect of pair-breaking scattering can also lead to superconducting gap modulations in space. We will discuss the distinction and unification of these two kinds of mechanisms, as well as their relevance to recent experimental observations.

The chiral 2 by 2 charge order has been reported and confirmed in the kagome superconductor RbV3Sb5, while its interplay with superconductivity remains elusive owing to its lowest superconducting transition temperature Tc of about 0.85K among the AV3Sb5 family (A=K, Rb, Cs) that severely challenges electronic spectroscopic probes. Here, utilizing dilution-refrigerator-based scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) down to 30mK, we observe chiral 2 by 2 pair density waves with residual Fermi arcs in RbV3Sb5. We find a superconducting gap of 150{\mu}eV with substantial residual in-gap states. The spatial distribution of this gap exhibits chiral 2 by 2 modulations, signaling a chiral pair density wave (PDW). Our quasi-particle interference imaging of the zero-energy residual states further reveals arc-like patterns. We discuss the relation of the gap modulations with the residual Fermi arcs under the space-momentum correspondence between PDW and Bogoliubov Fermi states., Comment: To appear in Chinese Physics Letters

Ordinary band structure calculations of quantum materials often incorrectly predicted metallic, instead of insulating electronic structure, motivating Mott-Hubbard strong electron correlation as a gapping mechanism. More recently, allowing the formation of local structural symmetry breaking motifs in otherwise ordinary band theory was shown to lower the total energy while predicting insulating gaps when they are observed. An important counter example was recently pointed out whereby the flat band formed in Nb3Cl8 by symmetry breaking is by itself partially occupied, thus failing to account for the observed insulating state. It is shown here that a generalized symmetry breaking involving the cooperative structural and magnetic effects produces in mean-field-like density functional theory an energy lowering insulating phase., Comment: 3 figures

Understanding electrochemical interfaces at a microscopic level is essential for elucidating important electrochemical processes in electrocatalysis, batteries and corrosion. While \textit{ab initio} simulations have provided valuable insights into model systems, the high computational cost limits their use in tackling complex systems of relevance to practical applications. Machine learning potentials offer a solution, but their application in electrochemistry remains challenging due to the difficulty in treating the dielectric response of electronic conductors and insulators simultaneously. In this work, we propose a hybrid framework of machine learning potentials that is capable of simulating metal/electrolyte interfaces by unifying the interfacial dielectric response accounting for local electronic polarisation in electrolytes and non-local charge transfer in metal electrodes. We validate our method by reproducing the bell-shaped differential Helmholtz capacitance at the Pt(111)/electrolyte interface. Furthermore, we apply the machine learning potential to calculate the dielectric profile at the interface, providing new insights into electronic polarisation effects. Our work lays the foundation for atomistic modelling of complex, realistic electrochemical interfaces using machine learning potential at \textit{ab initio} accuracy.

As many Kagome metals, the topological superconductor AV$_3$Sb$_5$ with (A = K,Rb,Cs) hosts a charge density wave . A related chiral flux phase that breaks the time-reversal symmetry has been further theoretically predicted in these materials. The flux phase is associated with loop currents that produce ordered orbital magnetic moments, which would occur at the momentum points, $\bf M$, characterizing the charge-density wave state. Polarized neutron-diffraction experiments have been performed on an assembly of single crystals of ${\rm CsV_3Sb_5}$ to search for such orbital magnetic moments. No evidence for the existence of a three-dimensionally ordered moment is found at any temperature at the first ${\bf M_1}$=(1/2,0,0) point in the Brillouin zone within an excellent experimental uncertainty, ${\it i.e.}$ ${\bf m}=0 \pm 0.01\mu_B$ per vanadium atom. However, a hint to a magnetic orbital moment is found in the second Brillouin zone at {\bf M$_2$}=(1/2,1/2,0) at the detection limit of the experiment. Some loop currents patterns flowing ${\it only}$ on vanadium triangles are able to account for this finding suggesting an ordered orbital magnetic moment of, at most, $\sim 0.02 \pm 0.01\mu_B$ per vanadium triangle., Comment: 11 figures

Parametric array loudspeakers (PALs) are known for producing highly directional audio beams, a feat more challenging to achieve with conventional electro-dynamic loudspeakers (EDLs). Due to their intrinsic physical mechanisms, PALs hold promising potential for spatial audio applications such as virtual reality (VR). However, the feasibility of using an array of PALs for sound zone control (SZC) has remained unexplored, mainly due to the complexity of the nonlinear demodulation process inherent in PALs. Leveraging recent advancements in PAL modeling, this work proposes an optimization algorithm to achieve the acoustic contrast control (ACC) between two target areas using a PAL array. The performance and robustness of the proposed ACC-based SZC using PAL arrays are investigated through simulations, and the results are compared with those obtained using EDL arrays. The results show that the PAL array outperforms the EDL array in SZC performance and robustness at higher frequencies and lower signal-to-noise ratio, while being comparable under other conditions. This work paves the way for high-contrast acoustic control using PAL arrays.

We present optical photometry for the afterglow of GRB 221009A, in some respects the most extraordinary gamma-ray burst (GRB) ever observed. Good quality in the R-band light curve is obtained, covering 0.32-19.57 days since the Fermi-GBM trigger. We find that a weak bump emerges fromthe declining afterglow at $t \approx 11$ days; a supernova (SN) may be responsible. We use a smooth broken power-law and $^{56}\mathrm{Ni}$ model to fit the light curve. The best-fitting results reveal that the SN ejected a total mass of $M_\mathrm{ej} = 3.70 M_\odot$, a $^{56}\mathrm{Ni}$ mass of $M_\mathrm{Ni} = 0.23 M_\odot$, and a kinetic energy of $E_\mathrm{SN,K} = 2.35 \times 10^{52} \mathrm{erg}$. We also compare GRB 221009A with other GRB-SN events based on a GRB-associated SN sample, and find that only SN 2003lw and SN 2011kl can be obviously revealed in the afterglow of GRB 221009A by setting these objects at its distance. This suggests that a supernova (SN 2022xiw) is possibly obscured by the brighter afterglow emission from GRB 221009A.

Due to the rapid advancements in multimodal large language models, evaluating their multimodal mathematical capabilities continues to receive wide attention. Despite the datasets like MathVista proposed benchmarks for assessing mathematical capabilities in multimodal scenarios, there is still a lack of corresponding evaluation tools and datasets for fine-grained assessment in the context of K12 education in Chinese language. To systematically evaluate the capability of multimodal large models in solving Chinese multimodal mathematical problems, we propose a Chinese Multi-modal Math Skill Evaluation Benchmark, named CMMaTH, contraining 23k multimodal K12 math related questions, forming the largest Chinese multimodal mathematical problem benchmark to date. CMMaTH questions from elementary to high school levels, provide increased diversity in problem types, solution objectives, visual elements, detailed knowledge points, and standard solution annotations. We have constructed an open-source tool GradeGPT integrated with the CMMaTH dataset, facilitating stable, rapid, and cost-free model evaluation. Our data and code are available.

The electric resistivity is examined in the constrained Hilbert space of a doped Mott insulator, which is dictated by a non-Ioffe-Larkin composition rule due to the underlying mutual Chern-Simons topological gauge structure. In the low-temperature pseudogap phase, where holons remain condensed while spinons proliferate, the charge transport is governed by a chiral spinon excitation, comprising a bosonic spin-$1/2$ at the core of a supercurrent vortex. It leads to a vanishing resistivity with the "confinement" of the spinons in the superconducting phase but a low-$T$ divergence of the resistivity once the spinon confinement is disrupted by external magnetic fields. In the latter, the chiral spinons will generate a Hall number $n_H =$ doping concentration $\delta$ and a Nernst effect to signal an underlying long-range entanglement between the charge and spin degrees of freedom. Their presence is further reflected in thermodynamic quantities such as specific heat and spin susceptibility. Novel states of matter arise in quantum materials due to strong interactions among electrons. A nematic phase breaks the point group symmetry of the crystal lattice and is known to emerge in correlated materials. Here we report the observation of an intra-unit-cell nematic order and signatures of Pomeranchuk instability in the Kagome metal ScV6Sn6. Using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy, we reveal a stripe-like nematic order breaking the crystal rotational symmetry within the Kagome lattice itself. Moreover, we identify a set of van Hove singularities adhering to the Kagome layer electrons, which appear along one direction of the Brillouin zone while being annihilated along other high-symmetry directions, revealing a rotational symmetry breaking. Via detailed spectroscopic maps, we further observe an elliptical deformation of Fermi surface, which provides direct evidence for an electronically mediated nematic order. Our work not only bridges the gap between electronic nematicity and Kagome physics, but also sheds light on the potential mechanism for realizing symmetry-broken phases in correlated electron systems., Comment: 19 pages, 5 figures

We compute the structure of flux $h/(2e)$ vortices in a $d$-wave superconductor using a continuum SU(2) gauge theory of 2 flavors of charge $e$, SU(2)-fundamental Higgs bosons. Period-2 charge order is present near the vortex center. Upon coupling the electrons to the superconducting and charge order parameters, we find that the electronic local density of states does not have a zero-bias peak, in contrast to BCS theory. But there are sub-gap peaks at positive and negative bias, and these exhibit anti-phase periodic spatial modulations, as observed in scanning tunneling microscopy experiments in the underdoped cuprates (K. Matsuba et al., J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. 76, 063704 (2007))., Comment: 30 pages, 10 figures

The present work concerns the detailed construction of a holographic model for a type-II s-wave superconductor defined on a 5-dimensional anisotropic rotating black hole. We examine the role of rotation and anisotropy on the properties of the superconductor model focusing on the condensate and the AC conductivity, for which we obtain closed formulas, using both analytical and numerical methods. The results reveal that the rotation is responsible for the appearance of a peak and for introducing an exponentially vanishing behavior in the high-frequency limit of the real component of the AC conductivity. Such a behavior aligns with that observed in high-temperature superconductor models and experiments, where the peak and vanishing behavior result from quasiparticle damping, suggesting a plausible relation between the rotation of a black hole and quasiparticle damping effects in a superconducting material. In addition, we provide a detailed construction of the vortex lattice presented in arXiv:2208.05988 and study its behavior as a function of an external uniform magnetic field. Once again, it is shown that the vortex lattice can be continuously deformed along with a change in the vortex population by virtue of the magnetic field, providing a promising avenue for holographically modeling the vortex lattice deformations observed in experimental superconducting materials. As an observed experimental effect, we describe both the vortex lattice deformation and the vortex population increment under the action of an external magnetic field in the LiFeAs type-II superconductor. In the recently discovered kagome superconductor AV3Sb5 (A = K, Rb, and Cs), the superconductivity is intertwined with an unconventional charge density wave order. Its pairing symmetry remains elusive owing to the lack of direct measurement of the superconducting gap in the momentum space. In this letter, utilizing laser-based ultra-high-resolution and low-temperature angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, we observe anisotropic Cooper pairing in kagome superconductor CsV3Sb5. We detect a highly anisotropic superconducting gap structure with an anisotropy over 80% and the gap maximum along the V-V bond direction on a Fermi surface originated from the 3d-orbital electrons of the V kagome lattice. It is in stark contrast to the isotropic superconducting gap structure on the other Fermi surface that is occupied by Sb 5p-orbital electrons. Our observation of the anisotropic Cooper pairing in pristine CsV3Sb5 is fundamental for understanding intertwined orders in the ground state of kagome superconductors.

The detrimental impact of noise on sensing performance in quantum metrology has been widely recognized by researchers in the field. However, there are no explicit fundamental laws of physics stating that noise invariably weakens quantum metrology. We reveal that phase-covariant (PC) noise either degrades or remains neutral to sensing precision, whereas non-phase-covariant (NPC) noise can potentially enhance parameter estimation, surpassing even the ultimate precision limit achievable in the absence of noise. This implies that a non-Hermitian quantum sensor may outperform its Hermitian counterpart in terms of sensing performance. Strongly correlated electron systems with a kagome lattice can host abundant exotic quantum states such as superconductivity and spin/charge density waves (CDW) due to the complicated interactions between different degrees of freedoms in the framework of a unique two-dimensional geometrically frustrated lattice structure. Recently, successive orders of A-type antiferromagnetism (AFM), $2\times2\times2$ CDW and canted double-cone AFM have been manifested upon cooling in magnetic kagome FeGe. However, the mechanism of the CDW order and its interaction with magnetism are presently enigmatic at best. Here we investigate the evolution of CDW order with temperature across the spin canting transition in FeGe by single-crystal x-ray diffraction. Refinements of its modulated structure are presented using the superspace approach. Interestingly, the superlattice reflections originating from CDW-induced long-range structural modulation become extremely weak after the system enters the canted AFM while a $2\times2$ CDW in the $ab$ plane persists as a long-range order demonstrated by strong electronic modulation in the d$I$/d$V$ map of scanning tunneling spectroscopy. We discovered a novel CDW order without long-range structural modulation in FeGe probably because of the competition between CDW and canted AFM in determining the underlying crystal structure. In addition, occupational modulations of Ge1 atoms located in the kagome plane and displacive modulations of all the atoms were extracted from the refinements, confirming the existence of Ge atom dimerization along the $c$ axis as the major distortion and indicating a dynamic transformation between different CDW domains., Comment: 22 pages, 6 figures. A hallmark of unconventional superconductors is their complex electronic phase diagrams where "intertwined orders" of charge-spin-lattice degrees of freedom compete and coexist as in copper oxides and iron pnictides. While the electronic phase diagram of kagome lattice superconductor such as CsV3Sb5 also exhibits complex behavior involving coexisting and competing charge density wave order and superconductivity, much is unclear about the microscopic origin of superconductivity. Here, we study the vortex lattice (VL) in superconducting state of Cs(V0.86Ta0.14)3Sb5, where the Ta-doping suppresses charge order and enhances superconductivity. Using small-angle neutron scattering, a strictly bulk probe, we show that the VL exhibits a strikingly conventional behavior. This includes a triangular VL with a period consistent with 2e-pairing, a field dependent scattering intensity that follows a London model, and a temperature dependence consistent with a uniform superconducting gap expected for s-wave pairing. These results suggest that optimal bulk superconductivity in Cs(V1-xTax)3Sb5 arises from a conventional Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer electron-lattice coupling, different from spin fluctuation mediated unconventional copper and iron based superconductors., Comment: Multiple revisions

Mrk 501 is a prototypical high-synchrotron-peaked blazar (HBL) and serves as one of the primary targets for the {\it Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer} ({\it IXPE}). In this study, we report X-ray polarization measurements of Mrk 501 based on six {\it IXPE} observations. The detection of X-ray polarization at a confidence level exceeding 99\% is achieved in four out of the six observations conducted across the entire energy range (2--8 keV) of {\it IXPE}. The maximum polarization degree ($\Pi_{\rm X}$) is measured to be $15.8\%\pm2.8\%$, accompanied by a polarization angle ($\psi_{\rm X}$) of $98.0\deg\pm5.1\deg$ at a confidence level of $5.6 \sigma$. During the remaining two observations, only an upper limit of $\Pi_{\rm X}<$12\% could be derived at the 99\% confidence level. No temporal variability in polarization is observed throughout all six {\it IXPE} observations for Mrk 501. A discernible trend of energy-dependent variation in the polarization degree is detected in optical spectropolarimetry; however, no analogous indication is observed in $\Pi_{\rm X}$. The chromatic behavior of $\Pi$ and the consistent values of $\psi$ across different frequencies from X-rays to radio waves, along with the agreement between $\psi$ and jet position angle, strongly support the interpretation of the energy-stratified model with shock-accelerated particles in the jet of Mrk 501. Superposed photon-added and photon-subtracted squeezed-vacuum states exhibit sub-Planck phase-space structures and metrological potential similar to the original compass states (superposition of four coherent states), but are more closely tied to modern experiments. Here, we observe that these compasslike states are highly susceptible to loss of quantum coherence when placed in contact with a thermal reservoir; that is, the interaction with the thermal reservoir causes decoherence, which progressively suppresses the capacity of these states to exhibit interference traits. We focus on the sub-Planck structures of these states and find that decoherence effects on these features are stronger with increasing the average thermal photon number of the reservoir, the squeezing parameter, or the quantity of added (or subtracted) photons to the squeezed-vacuum states. Furthermore, we observe that the sub-Planck structures of the photon-subtracted case survive comparatively longer in the thermal reservoir than their counterparts in the photon-added case, and prolonged contact with the thermal reservoir converts these compasslike states into a classical state., Comment: 14 pages, and 4 figures
