Introduction: It has long been known that highly arousing emotional single items are better recollected than low arousing neutral items. Despite the robustness of this memory advantage, emotional arousing events may not always promote the retrieval of source details (i.e., source memory) or associated neutral information. Methods: To shed more light on these effects, we pooled data from seven different studies (N = 333) to investigate the role of emotion on item-context binding in episodic memory, as well as potential interacting factors (e.g., encoding instructions, type of retrieval task, or acute stress). In all studies, participants incidentally encoded common neutral objects (i.e., items), overlaid on different pleasant, neutral, or unpleasant background scenes (i.e., contexts). One week later, the encoded objects were presented intermixed with new ones and memory for item and source contextual details was tested, also considering the contribution of recollection and familiarity-based processes. Results: Linear mixed models revealed a recollection-based retrieval advantage for unpleasant and pleasant source contextual details compared to neutral ones. Bayes hypothesis-testing analysis further indicated decisive evidence in favor of a relevant role of emotional arousal and recollection in source contextual memory. Regarding item memory, linear mixed models revealed enhanced recollection-based memory for items encoded in pleasant contexts compared to their neutral and unpleasant counterparts. However, Bayes analysis revealed strong to moderate evidence for models without affective category (or its interactions), indicating that the affective category of contexts in which objects were paired during encoding had little influence on item memory performance. Discussion: The present results are discussed in relation to existing evidence and current neurobiological models of emotional episodic memory by also emphasizing the role of predictive processing as a useful conceptual framework to understand the effects of emotion on memory for source details and associated neutral information. Background: This study aimed to gather information about parental practices, knowledge, and attitudes regarding infant sleep habits and environments, among families who practice non-recommended sleep practices. Methods: We conducted one-on-one phone interviews with parents who had practiced non-recommended sleep methods with their infant and had or had not experienced an undesirable sleep event such as a fall. Interviews were recorded and coded with MAXQDA software. Intercoder reliability was assessed for consistency. Results: Thirty-one parents consented, and 21 interviews were conducted. Parents were aware of current American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) sleep recommendations for infants, knew about the sleep risks of non-recommended practices and had access to a recommended sleep environment. Parents reported developing modifications to the sleep environment which they perceived made their infant's sleep safer. Many parents felt that they could not be honest with their primary care provider about utilizing a non-recommended sleep environment; many had not had a detailed conversation with their primary care provider about safe sleep. Conclusions: Our data are consistent with previous studies which demonstrate that lack of access to a recommended sleep space or lack of knowledge about AAP sleep guidelines are not the primary reasons for practicing non-recommended sleep habits. Our data highlights the disconnect between the current AAP safe sleep recommendations and what parents feel is feasible to do on a daily basis. Evaluating the impact of a risk elimination strategy which is used in the US compared with a risk mitigation strategy which is used in other countries on parental practice and ability to communicate honestly with primary care providers is a future area of research. In response to dominant discourses of quality and an over-reliance on humancentric practice, the Learning with Place framework emerges as an innovative way to rethink practices, structures, and policies within education and beyond. 'Learning with Place' views the local Place as agentic, recognising Place as inclusive of local First Nations knowledges and stories, histories and the more-than-human (for example, landforms, waterways, animals, insects, flora, and fauna). Through 'Learning with Place', deep relationships with the local Place are generated and these relationships become the catalyst for actions and decision-making regarding caring for/with local Place. This article offers an example of 'Learning with Place' in action through an early childhood teacher education program and shares ways in which the framework can be utilised in multiple contexts and disciplines. Background: Studies have demonstrated that standardizing labor induction (IOL), often with the use of protocols, may reduce racial inequities in obstetrics. IOL protocols are complex, multi-component interventions. To target identified implementation barriers, audit and feedback (A&F) was selected as an implementation strategy. Here, we aimed to understand the acceptability and effect of A&F on fidelity to this complex intervention through quantitative and qualitative approaches. Methods: This secondary analysis of a type I hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial (10/2018–12/2022) compared 2 years before (PRE) to 2 years after (POST) implementation of an IOL protocol at two sites. Fidelity to each of 8 specific protocol components was collected via chart review. During the POST period, unit-aggregated A&F reports were distributed via email every 3 months to site clinicians. Reports tracked fidelity to protocol components over time. For this analysis, we compared component fidelity PRE to POST-implementation. Additionally, during the POST period, we compared fidelity by month after each A&F (Month#1 v. Month#2/3) to evaluate the effect of A&F over time. Acceptability of A&F reports was evaluated using qualitative interviews. Results: 8509 labor inductions were included (PRE = 4214, POST = 4295). A&F reports were successfully distributed every 3 months for the 2-year POST period. PRE to POST-implementation, fidelity to 4 of the 8 components increased significantly (cervical Foley utilization, latent labor examination frequency, amniotomy timing, and intrauterine pressure catheter utilization), without change in the other 4 components. For 2 of those 4 components where improvement was noted, there was no difference in fidelity by month after A&F report; rather, there was sustained improvement across the POST-implementation period. On the other hand, for the remaining 2 components, fidelity peaked in the first month after each A&F report, with some decline in the following 2 months prior to the next A&F report. Qualitative analysis (n = 24) supported A&F acceptability, with A&F described as "motivating" and "helpful." Conclusions: A&F was an effective implementation strategy to promote fidelity to certain components of this labor induction protocol. With some decline in effect after the first month POST-A&F report, increased A&F frequency should be considered in future work targeting obstetric outcomes, as well as health inequities. The coronavirus pandemic increased the role played by scientific advisers in counselling governments and citizens on issues around public health. This raises questions about how citizens evaluate scientists, and in particular the grounds on which they trust them. Previous studies have identified various factors associated with trust in scientists, although few have systematically explored a range of judgements and their relative effects. This study takes advantage of scientific advisers' heightened public profile during the pandemic to explore how people's trust in scientists is shaped by perceptions of their features and traits, along with evaluations of their behaviour and role within the decision-making process. The study also considers people's trust in politicians, thereby enabling us to identify whether trust in scientists reflects similar or distinctive considerations to trust in partisan actors. Although trust is widely recognized as key to effective public administration, little is known about trust dynamics, especially in typical governance relationships. We conducted an intensive longitudinal experience sampling study via a weekly survey of Florida residents' (N = 97) trust in and perceptions of the trustworthiness of the (US) National Hurricane Center over a 25-week hurricane season. We estimated two-level time series models to examine reciprocal relationships among four constructs: trust, ability, benevolence, and integrity. All four exhibited significant intraindividual variability such that participants demonstrated change in their ratings of the agency over time. Ability perceptions showed the greatest variability over the study duration. In line with classic models of trust, previous-week trustworthiness perceptions were significant predictors of subsequent trust. Our results also provide some support for self-reinforcing accounts of trust by demonstrating that previous-week trust predicted subsequent trustworthiness. Several of the one-week lagged relationships weakened substantially when tested with two-week lags, suggesting that trustworthiness is the stronger driver of trust. Overall, our results demonstrate that trust is not static, even in business-as-usual governance relationships. Results position perceptions of ability, benevolence, and integrity as partially responsible for changes in trust over time. Further, an exploratory analysis suggested that people who reported higher average integrity perceptions tended to have more stable trust. Thus, all the dimensions of trustworthiness serve as short-term levers for administrators seeking to positively manage relationships with the public, and integrity may be most critical for supporting steady levels of trust. Co-occurring substance use disorders are common in medical settings, yet limited literature exists on concomitant pharmacological management. We present a case where low-dose buprenorphine induction (LDBI) and rapid phenobarbital taper were performed concurrently in a hospital setting to manage co-occurring opioid dependence (on chronic methadone maintenance therapy) and benzodiazepine dependence (prescribed alprazolam). The simultaneous management was well-tolerated and completed with minimal complications, successfully enabling candidacy for the patient’s preferred disposition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Porokeratosis is a condition characterized by abnormal epidermal keratinization with a unique morphology of papules or plaques surrounded by a thread-like border of scale corresponding to the cornoid lamella on histology. Many established subtypes have been described; however, genitogluteal porokeratosis is a rare entity. We present the case of a 58-year-old male with pruritic reddish lesions affecting the genitals and thighs, diagnosed with genital porokeratosis. This case highlights features of this rare and diagnostically challenging subtype of porokeratosis.

Summary: Background: Cesarean delivery remains the most common obstetrical procedure with more than 250,000 patients in the US undergoing cesarean following labor induction annually. Here, we evaluated the impact of prospectively implementing a standardized labor induction protocol on cesarean delivery rates. Methods: This multi-site type I hybrid effectiveness-implementation study compared 2 years before (PRE) and 2 years after (POST) implementation of a standardized labor induction protocol at two hospitals within the University of Pennsylvania Health System (2018–2022). The protocol included multiple components and recommended active management of labor induction, including frequent cervical examinations, amniotomy if cervical exam ≥4 cm, and interventions for labor dystocia. The primary effectiveness outcome was cesarean delivery. Secondary effectiveness outcomes included labor length, chorioamnionitis, and maternal and neonatal morbidity. The primary implementation outcome was fidelity, defined as adherence to ≥75% of the protocol components among 8 individual components that could be evaluated discretely. All data was collected via individual chart review. Findings: 8509 patients were included (PRE: n = 4214, POST: n = 4295). Our population was of median age of 31 years interquartile range (IQR) [26–35], and 44.6% identified as Black, 40.1% as white, 6.9% as Asian, and 8.4% as other or unknown; 7.4% of the population identified as Latinx. There was no significant difference in cesarean delivery rate between the two time periods overall (PRE: 21.6% vs. POST: 21.8%, p = 0.85; adjusted relative risk (aRR) 0.99 95% confidence interval (CI) [0.90–1.09]).
