In order to solve the abnormal fermentation problems caused by the slow and difficult temperature rise in the saccharification piling during the fermentation of sauce-flavor baijiu under low temperatures in winter. A special oxygen dissolving device made of stainless steel was applied in the second sorghum input of sauce-flavor baijiu, as well as the 1th and 2th rounds of saccharification piling fermentation in this study. In addition, its effects on the saccharification piling temperature, the 1th and 2th rounds of physical and chemical indicators, microbial population, and flavor components are analyzed. The results indicate that the use of a stainless steel oxygen dissolver significantly increased the "piling core" temperature of a saccharification piling and that this improvement was highly correlated with the oxygen dissolver. Additionally, it decreased the water content, sugar concentration, and acidity of the "piling core" of the saccharification piling, all of which were negatively correlated with the height of the dissolved oxygen reactor. Furthermore, the stainless steel special dissolved oxygen device also facilitated the growth and reproduction of saccharification piling microorganisms, particularly yeast. The use of the stainless steel special dissolved oxygen device, therefore, resulted in an increase in the concentration of acetaldehyde, ethyl acetate, propanol, isoamyl alcohol, ß-phenylethanol, ethyl palmitate, and other flavoring compounds. Accordingly, the stainless steel special oxygen dissolving device demonstrates a significant application potential in the 1th and 2th rounds of saccharification piling fermentation of sauce-flavor baijiu. Sour rot (SR) is one of the major diseases affecting grapevine berries, causing severe yield losses and deterioration of wine quality. SR is caused by an etiologic complex of microorganisms, including yeasts, bacteria, and filamentous fungi. This systematic review focuses on the etiology, epidemiology, and control of SR. A total of 74 papers published between 1986 and 2023 were assessed in this review. Description of disease symptoms was quite consistent across the papers, including oxidation of the grape skin, disaggregation of the internal tissues, and detachment of the rotten berries from the pedicel. The affected bunches are characterized by the smell of acetic acid and ethyl acetate that attracts fruit flies (Drosophila spp.). However, several knowledge gaps and/or inconsistencies were identified with respect to SR etiology, epidemiology, and control. Overall, 146 microorganisms were isolated from the affected berries (44.5% yeasts, 34.3% bacteria, and 21.2% filamentous fungi); however, the selected papers could not definitively clarify which species are primarily involved in the etiology of the disease. A general inconsistency was also observed in the methods used to assess the incidence and severity of SR in vineyards, making inter-study comparisons extremely challenging. Inconsistencies were also found in the methods used for pathogenicity assessment in artificial inoculation studies. Furthermore, gaps were detected in terms of SR epidemiology, with a focus on environmental conditions affecting the disease development. The SR management options are limited, and efficacy trials often result in poor, variable, and inconsistent levels of control, which might be attributed to the lack of knowledge on disease epidemiology. The fruit and bark of Broussonetia × hanjiana M. Kim (Kkujidaknamu, Korean paper mulberry) have been used as a resource for medicine and paper in Korea and Korean traditional paper (Hanji), made from extract of the B. × hanjiana bark, has been used to package dry foods. The present study was carried out to evaluate the in vitro antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of B.× hanjiana extract. The antimicrobial activity of four fractions of ethanol extract of the plant collected in July was evaluated through disc diffusion and minimal inhibition concentration (MIC) method against three Gram-positive strains, two Gram-negative strains, and one yeast. The ether and ethyl acetate fraction of ethanol extract from B. × hanjiana bark exhibited the highest antimicrobial activity with the lowest MIC value against the tested Gram-positive bacteria. The MIC of the hexane and ether fraction against Gram-negative bacteria was not detected in any sample extracts and the MIC was not observed against Saccharomyces cerevisiae in any fractions. The antioxidant activity of ethanol and hot water extract of the plant was evaluated by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2′-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) radical scavenging assay. The ethanol extract showed relatively higher DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activity than the hot water extract, regardless of the samples. The results of total phenolic and flavonoid contents were not consistent with the results of antioxidant activity and it shows antioxidant activity is not only affected by the polyphenol content but also can occur by some other phytochemicals. The antimicrobial and antioxidant activity was influenced by plant organ or extract solvent. These findings may confirm the potential of this plant as an antimicrobial and antioxidant agent. Aim: The bonding between acrylic resin to silicone liners in maxillofacial devices is vital for the maintenance of prosthetic parts. This study aims to provide insights into the effectiveness of different surface treatments in enhancing the bond between materials used in maxillofacial prosthetics, which is crucial to ensure both quality and durability in prosthetic applications. Materials and Methods: This in vitro study involves the fabrication of 30 specimens, with each specimen involving an acrylic part bonded to a silicone part. Each specimen measures 75 mm in length, 10 mm in width, and 6 mm in thickness. These dimensions are controlled and standardized for consistency. The study includes a total of 30 specimens, which represent the sample size, and it is divided into three groups (ethyl acetate, aluminum oxide sandblasting, and silicon carbide [SiC] paper), with each group having 10. Subsequently, the peel bonding strength was tested using a universal testing machine. All data were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance and Tukey's post hoc tests at a level of a = 0.05. Results: Surface-treated specimens with ethyl acetate had the highest peel strength (PS) values (3.4138) followed by those treated with aluminum oxide sandblasting (2.3204) and SiC paper (1.8153), respectively. Conclusions: Surface treatment showed a varying impact on the PS of different materials. The ethyl acetate group benefited the most from the treatment, the sandblasting group experienced a moderate improvement, and the SiC group had the least improvement in peel bond strength. Aims: Fungi species received much attention due to their numerical ability to manufacture various enzymes that can be used to break down cellulose, starch and lipids. However, the conventional way of mycelial incorporation in lignocellulolytic agriculture materials shows less quantity for the degradation of organic compounds. Therefore, fungal metabolites extract received much attention for large amounts of degradation. On the other hand, the effectiveness of fungal metabolite extracts depends on the solvent reaction process. Thus, this study compared degrading organic compounds such as lignin and cellulose in a plate assay experiment using Trichoderma reesei UMK04 secondary metabolites extract using ethyl acetate and hexene solvents. Methodology and results: The T. reesei UMK04 was cultured in potato dextrose broth (PDB) media. Secondary metabolites from the broth culture of T. reseei were extracted using two different solvents of ethyl acetate and hexene separately. The degradation of organic compounds was determined in a plate assay experiment using Jensen media and Tannic acid media. Metabolite extract of T. reesei was used in concentrations of 5 mg/mL, 10 mg/mL, 15 mg/mL and 20 mg/mL. The hollow zone method was used to determine the degradation range. The ethyl acetate solvent extract showed the highest cellulose degradation-like pigmentation formation, which appeared at 6.6 cm on the plate, compared to lignin, which was 3.6 cm. Conclusion, significance and impact of study: The secondary metabolites of T. reesei using ethyl acetate extracts showed higher cellulose degradation, which showed that solvents play the role of more effective compound extraction. To evaluate the suitability of an analytical instrument, essential figures of merit such as the limit of detection (LOD) and the limit of quantification (LOQ) can be employed. However, as the definitions k nown in the literature are mostly applicable to one signal per sample, estimating the LOD for substances with instruments yielding multidimensional results like electronic noses (eNoses) is still challenging. In this paper, we will compare and present different approaches to estimate the LOD for eNoses by employing commonly used multivariate data analysis and regression techniques, including principal component analysis (PCA), principal component regression (PCR), as well as partial least squares regression (PLSR). These methods could subsequently be used to assess the suitability of eNoses to help control and steer processes where volatiles are key process parameters. As a use case, we determined the LODs for key compounds involved in beer maturation, namely acetaldehyde, diacetyl, dimethyl sulfide, ethyl acetate, isobutanol, and 2-phenylethanol, and discussed the suitability of our eNose for that dertermination process. The results of the methods performed demonstrated differences of up to a factor of eight. For diacetyl, the LOD and the LOQ were sufficiently low to suggest potential for monitoring via eNose. • The species profile of VOCs from abundant sources were presented. • The potential tracers of VOCs in different sources were identified. • Abundant α-pinene were found in solid wood furniture manufacturing. • T/X ratio can distinguish painting (<2) from printing (>2) sources. A survey was conducted of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released from sources of solvent use, industry activities and vehicle emissions in Guiyang, a capital city of China. Samples were collected by canisters and analyzed by GC-MS-FID. The species profiles of VOCs emitted from sources were obtained. Results showed that xylenes, ethylbenzene, acetone and dichloromethane were the characteristics species for painting, 2-propanol and ethyl acetate for printing, α-pinene for solid wood furniture manufacturing, and 2-butanone for biscuit baking. These characteristics species could be as tracers for the sources respectively. In most of samples from the solvent use, the benzene/toluene (B/T) ratio was less than 0.3, indicating that the ratio could be as the indicator for tracing the solvent use related sources. The results also suggested that the toluene/xylene (T/X) ratio be as the indicator to distinguish the VOCs sources of painting (<2) from the printing (>2). Aromatics contributed the most to ozone formation potential (OFP) of most painting and non-paper printing sources, and oxygen-containing VOCs (OVOCs) were major species contributing to OFP of the sources from food production and paper printing. The OFP of the VOCs emissions from vehicle in tunnels and from other manufactures were dominated by both aromatics and alkenes. The α-pinene could explain 56.94% and 32.54% of total OFP of the VOCs sources from filing cabinet and solid wood furniture manufacturing, which was rarely been involved in previous studies of VOCs source profiles, indicating that the species of concern for VOCs sources are still insufficient at present. Metastable zone width (MSZW) and induction time data for isonicotinamide (INA) in various solvents, including methanol, acetone, acetonitrile, and ethyl acetate, were experimentally measured using a turbidity probe. For the MSZW data, the interfacial energy and pre-exponential factor were determined and compared based on classical nucleation theory (CNT) using the integral model, the linearized integral model, and the classical 3D nucleation theory approach, respectively. For the induction time data, the interfacial energy and pre-exponential factor were determined based on CNT using the conventional method. The nucleation criteria at the nucleation point in derivation of various models were examined in detail. Selective oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes/ketones is an important reaction in the fine and bulk chemicals fields. However, the classical alcohol oxidation methods are often performed under unfriendly conditions or use stoichiometric oxidants. Herein, we report an ingenious system that enables high selectivity (up to 99%) and high conversion (up to 97%) with high reaction rates in the aerobic oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes/ketones for a broad range of alcohols, proceeding smoothly via mixing the solvent ethyl acetate and HBr under ambient conditions with visible light irradiation. Experimental characterization and theoretical calculations reveal that solvated dispersion intermediates are formed spontaneously in situ through noncovalent interactions among the molecules in the reaction system, which is proposed to be the origin of the high selectivity and high activity of this reaction. The dispersion system provides a feasible activation approach for aerobic oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes/ketones with high performance under visible light. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, Fe−Mn oxide catalysts were prepared by the co‐precipitation method. (Fe2O3)‐(Mn3O4)‐3 : 1 showed the best catalytic activity in the degradation of toluene and ethyl acetate, with the removal rate reaching 90 % at 166 °C and 156 °C respectively. The XRD, SEM, TEM, and XPS characterizations revealed that the interaction between Fe and Mn and the higher surface adsorption of oxygen in the (Fe2O3)‐(Mn3O4)‐3 : 1 catalyst may be the main factors promoting the catalytic oxidation. (Fe2O3)‐(Mn3O4)‐3 : 1 exhibited a better removal rate in ethyl acetate than toluene at different space velocities, concentrations and water contents. Under the same conditions, the degradation rate of (Fe2O3)‐(Mn3O4)‐3 : 1 in ethyl acetate was also greater than that in xylene and butyl acetate, which was related to their oxidation processes. FT‐IR and GC‐MS characterizations of fresh and used (Fe2O3)‐(Mn3O4)‐3 : 1 catalysts revealed intermediates in the oxidation of volatile organic compounds, and the reaction mechanisms were analyzed: Firstly, VOCs molecules were adsorbed on the catalyst surface, then decomposed into organic intermediates and oxidized to CO2 and H2O finally. The flowers of Edgeworthia gardneri are used as herbal tea and medicine to treat various metabolic diseases including hyperglycemia, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. This paper investigate the chemical constituents and biological activities of ethanolic extract and its different fractions from E. gardneri flowers. Firstly, the E. gardneri flowers was extracted by ethanol-aqueous solution to obtain crude extract (CE), which was subsequently fractionated by different polar organic solution to yield precipitated crystal (PC), dichloromethane (DCF), ethyl acetate (EAF), n-butanol (n-BuF), and residue water (RWF) fractions. UHPLC-ESI-HRMS/MS analysis resulted in the identification of 25 compounds, and the main compounds were flavonoids and coumarins. The precipitated crystal fraction showed the highest phenolic and flavonoid contents with 344.4 ± 3.38 mg GAE/g extract and 305.86 ± 0.87 mg RE/g extract. The EAF had the strongest antioxidant capacity and inhibitory effect on α-glucosidase and pancreatic lipase with IC50 values of 126.459 ± 7.82 and 23.16 ± 0.79 µg/mL. Besides, both PC and EAF significantly regulated the glucose and lipid metabolism disorders by increasing glucose consumption and reducing TG levels in HepG2 cells. Molecular docking results suggested that kaempferol-3-O-glucoside and tiliroside had good binding ability with enzymes, indicating that they may be potential α-glucosidase and pancreatic lipase inhibitors. Hongqu rice wine was brewed with glutinous rice as raw material and Hongqu as starter. Monascus and Sac-charomyces cerevisiae were the core microorganisms in the brewing system. In this paper, using glutinous rice as the fermentation substrate, Monascus purpureus, Monascus ruber and Monascus kaoliang were combined with S. cerevisiae to study the effects of different combinations and fermentation modes (simultaneous fermentation and sequential fermentation) on the production of volatile components. A total of 89 volatile flavor compounds were identified from fermented rice wine based on headspace solid phase microextraction-gas chromatography mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS). Heat map analysis showed that the combined fermentation of Monascus and S. cerevisiae produced more aroma substances than the pure fermentation of Monascus, and the sequential fermentation produced more aroma substances than the simultaneous fermentation, especially the sequential fermentation of M. purpureus, M. ruber and S. cerevisiae. According to the principal component analysis of volatile flavor components of different Monascus and S. cerevisiae combined fermentation, M. purpureus and M. ruber and S. cerevisiae will produce more volatile flavor components under the sequential fermentation mode, and their flavor compositions were close to each other. Through the analysis of the content difference of volatile flavor components, isobutanol, 1-heptanol, (3Z)-3-nonene-1-ol, 2-tetradecanol, (Z)-5-octene-1-ol, decanal, ethyl caproate, ethyl decanoate, 9 -decenoate, ethyl phenylacetate, ethyl acetate, 1,2 -dimethoxy -4 -vinyl benzene, acridine were the characteristic volatile flavor substances in the combined fermentation products of Monascus and S. cerevisiae. Limonene is a cheap and easily available substrate for obtaining valuable compounds. Limonene epoxides are used as monomers to obtain polymers used in various industries. Development of an environmentally friendly and cheap process of chemoenzymatic epoxidation of limonene is important due to the need to replace petroleum-derived polymers. The lyophilized mycelium of psychrophilic Cladosporium cladosporioides 01 has been found to be an efficient biocatalyst for green chemoenzymatic epoxidation of (R)-(+)-limonene in ethyl acetate. The mathematical optimization of the main process variables with RSM methods is described herein. Modelling of the reaction parameters (temperature, H2O2, biocatalyst, substrate concentration and stirring speed) contributed to an approximately 5-fold increase in the efficiency of epoxidation, compared to that of the non-optimized process. After 4 hours at 55 °C without stirring, 99.8% oxidation of limonene to limonene 1,2-epoxide (56.3%), limonene 8,9-epoxide (0.3%) and diepoxide (43.2%) was achieved using 232.7 μl of H2O2, 88 μl of acetic acid, 284 mg of a biocatalyst and 57.6 μl of limonene. Modelling of epoxidation depending on the limonene : biocatalyst ratio was also performed. The time of achievement of the maximum yield of 1,2-epoxide and limonene diepoxide was determined, which makes it possible to design the process rationally to obtain the desired product. For the first time, the profitability of the green biotechnological method of obtaining limonene epoxides with the use of a new biocatalyst was calculated. Using 2.45 grams of (R)-(+)-limonene, the predicted gain for 20 hours of epoxidation is about 223.5 USD, making this process very advantageous for use on an industrial scale. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

High impact polystyrene (HIPS) is a two-phase polymeric material that consists of a free polystyrene (PS) matrix and rubber particles. HIPS occupies a substantial portion of plastic waste. Even though HIPS waste could potentially be employed as an efficient feedstock for the recovery of the styrene monomer via pyrolysis, several challenges must be overcome first, like the low styrene yield (<50%) and the generation of char due to the presence of rubber. To tackle these challenges, a green fractionation process using ethyl acetate (EtOAc) as an efficient solvent to separate rubber from the free PS matrix in HIPS is envisioned, which is carried out under mild conditions. The subsequent pyrolysis of the fractionated sample at 300 °C led to a 20% increase in styrene selectivity compared to the pyrolysis of untreated HIPS. Moreover, the revalorization of the rubber particles was accomplished by ethenolysis metathesis, in which after 4 h at 100 °C, polybutadiene was split to produce 1,5-hexadiene as a major product (60% yield) and isolated PS, which was further thermally degraded, achieving a styrene selectivity of 70%. The separation of ternary azeotropes with a high content of one component using extractive distillation is energy intensive, and the introduction of preconcentration can significantly improve process economy. In this paper, the conventional three-column extractive distillation (TCED), four-column extractive distillation (FCED) with preconcentration, and three-column extractive distillation with integrated distillation column (TCED-IDC) are established and economically optimized to minimize the total annual cost (TAC) for recovering ethyl-acetate (EAc) and ethanol (EtOH) from wastewater containing a large amount of water. The preconcentration and solvent recovery functions can be integrated in IDC. Following that, the vapor recompression heat pump (VRHP) is introduced to further reduce energy consumption for the TCED-IDC process. The two VRHP-TCED-IDC processes are correspondingly designed. Simultaneously, the processes proposed are evaluated in terms of economy, energy consumption, environment and exergy destruction (4E analysis). The environmental analysis is performed via calculating Global Warming Potential (GWP) index using Life Cycle Assessment method. The two VRHP-TCED-IDC processes demonstrate superior performances with regard to 4E analysis. The most efficient VRHP-TCED-IDC process reduce over 32.0 %/16.0 %/6.8 % of TAC, 53.4 %/42.4 %/33.7 % of energy consumption, 62.0 %/53.0 %/45.9 % of GWP, and 49.7 %/35.7 %/29.3 % of exergy destruction compared to the TCED/FCED/TCED-IDC processes, respectively. • The separation of ternary azeotropes with one high-content component is studied. • The integration of preconcentration and solvent recovery functions is investigated. • Vapor recompressions heat pumps are introduced to reduce energy consumption. • Processes are evaluated using economic, energy, environmental, and exergy analyses. • The environmental analysis is preformed via Life Cycle Assessment method. Vinyl acetate (VAc) is an important chemical raw material for the production of polyvinyl alcohol and polyvinyl acetate, among others. The preparation of vinyl acetate over PdAu catalysts using ethylene, oxygen and acetic acid as raw materials is one of the mainstream processes for the production of vinyl acetate in the world. The by-product ethyl acetate in this process is more difficult to be completely removed, and it is an impurity component in vinyl acetate products that needs to be strictly controlled in content. However, studies on the mechanism of ethyl acetate generation have not been reported, which limits the improvement of the purity of vinyl acetate products and the optimization of the ethyl acetate separation process. In this paper, the mechanism of ethyl acetate generation during ethylene vinyl acetate reaction on PdAu catalysts was systematically investigated using a combination of density functional theory (DFT) and kinetic Monte Carlo (kMC) simulations. The results show that the species tend to adsorb to the Pd-Au bridge sites, diagonal Pd-Pd vacancies, and diagonal Pd-Au vacancies of PdAu(100), and the Pd on the catalyst surface interacts more strongly with the adsorbed species. The dominant pathway for the generation of ethyl acetate on PdAu(100) is CH 2 CH 2 * + O *→ CH 2 CH* + H * → CH 3 CH* + CH 3 COO* → CH 3 COOCHCH 3 * + H * → CH 3 COOCH 2 CH 3 *, where the hydrogenation of CH 2 CH* to CH 3 CH* is the rate-control step in the dominant pathway for the generation of ethyl acetate. This step has an energy barrier of 1.09 eV and a reaction heat of 0.90 eV. The study of the generation mechanism of the by-product ethyl acetate in this paper is hoped to provide more targeted guidance and suggestions for the modification of Pd-Au catalysts, so as to reduce the generation of ethyl acetate as a by-product, to reduce the energy consumption required for the separation, and to enhance the purity of vinyl acetate products. Flexible Perovskite Solar Cells (f-PSCs) are made on an ITO-coated PET substrate. Sn O 2 has been used as a transparent inorganic electron transporting layer (ETL), PEDOT: PSS as an organic hole transporting layer (HTL), and C H 3 N H 3 Pb I 3 as a perovskite absorbing layer. Two configurations of the device structure have been formed, one is normal structure ITO/PET/ Sn O 2 /C H 3 N H 3 Pb I 3 /PEDOT: PSS/Ag (n-i-p) and the other is inverted structure ITO/PET/PEDOT: PSS/C H 3 N H 3 Pb I 3 / Sn O 2 /Ag (p-i-n). An antisolvent (i.e. ethyl acetate) has been used to control the surface morphology of the perovskite layers during fabrication of f-PSCs. Applying antisolvent in perovskite improves carrier mobility, transport properties, and higher power conversion efficiency (PCE) achieved. This study focuses on the effects of series (R s) and shunt resistance (R s h ) of f-PSCs on photovoltaic parameters while controlling the surface morphology of perovskite films applied on both structures. The study examines the behaviour of f-PSCs with and without the use of an antisolvent. For normal structure, PCE is found at 11.34 % for f-PSCs with antisolvent and 7.96 % for f-PSCs without antisolvent. On the other hand, inverted structures show PCE 10.36 % and 7.46 % for f-PSCs with and without antisolvent, respectively. PCE has been calculated for the f-PSCs by bending the samples about 3 0 o angle and about 20 % decrease in PCE has been found. The oddity of this work is to estimate the series and shunt resistant for f-PSCs and find the cost-effective control of these parameters by controlling interfacial defects. In counter-current chromatography (CCC), linear scale-up is an ideal amplification strategy. However, when transferring from analytical to predictable preparative processes with high throughput, linear scale-up would be challenging due to limitations imposed by differences in instrument parameters, such as gravitational forces, tubing cross-section area, tubing length, column volume and flow rate. Some effective scale-up strategies have been studied for different instrument parameters, but so far, these scale-up works have only been tested on standard circular (SC) tubing. The previous research of our group found that rectangular horizontal (RH) tubing can double the separation efficiency compared with conventional SC tubing, and has industrial production potential. This paper used the separation of tilianin from Dracocephalum moldavica L. as an example to demonstrate how to scale up the optimized process from analytical SC tubing to preparative RH tubing. After systematic optimization of solvent systems, sample concentration and flow rate on the analytical CCC, the optimized parameters obtained were successfully transferred to the preparative CCC. The results showed that a crude sample of 2.07 g was successfully separated using a solvent system of n -hexane - ethyl acetate - ethanol - water (1:4:1:5, v/v/v/v) in reversed phase mode, and the three consecutive separations produced a total of 380 mg tilianin in 75 min with high purities of 98.3%, as analyzed by HPLC. The total throughput achieved from the analytical to semi-preparative scale was improved by 138 times (from 12 mg/h to 1.66 g/h), while the column volume was increased by only 46.5 times (from 15.5 mL to 720 mL). This is the successful application of CCC for the separation and purification of tilianin. Given that SC tubing is the traditional configuration for CCC columns, this study is a necessary step to prove the applicability of RH tubing columns for routine use and potential large-scale industrial applications. This study successfully synthesized a series of Mn(OH)F hollow structures doped with rare earth elements (Sm, Nd, Ce, and Tb) using a hydrothermal method. A comprehensive analysis was conducted on the influence of these dopant elements on the morphology and gas-sensitive properties of Mn(OH)F. The gas-sensing performance of Mn(OH)F nanomaterials doped with Sm, Nd, Ce, and Tb was extensively investigated at 150℃ for methyl acetate, ethyl acetate, propyl acetate, and butyl acetate. The results demonstrated good gas-sensing capabilities, with responses reaching 2.0, 2.0, 2.0, and 2.5, respectively. Compared to undoped Mn(OH)F nanomaterials, the operating temperature of these sensors was reduced by about 100℃, and the response values were nearly tripled. Exceptional selectivity and stability were also observed. In addition, an in-depth exploration was conducted into the underlying mechanisms behind the enhanced gas response due to rare earth element doping. Medicinal plants provide a significant supply of natural compounds that can be used to develop new therapeutic medicines for treating severe illnesses including microbial infections. The genus Bambusa, which belongs to the Poaceae family, encompasses a vast and widely distributed collection of plants that possess a wide range of traditional uses in the treatment of various diseases. This study examined the ethanolic extracts of Bambusa tulda, along with its fractions such as ethyl acetate, petroleum ether, n-butanol, and water, to investigate their qualitative and quantitative phytochemical, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties. FTIR analysis of ethanolic powdered shoot extracts shows, presence of different functional groups including C-H, C-O, O-H and aromatic groups by showing stretching’s in different wavelengths. The extracts underwent testing to evaluate their antimicrobial activity against various strains of bacteria by using agar disc diffusion method and micro-dilution techniques to determine the minimum inhibitory and bactericidal concentrations. Additionally, the antioxidant activity of the extracts was assessed using the scavenging activity of DPPH radical methods. The extracts exhibited a robust positive connection between their antioxidant activity and the combined amounts of phenolics and flavonoids. The IC50 values of n-butanol, ethanol, water, petroleum ether, and ethyl acetate fraction show in ascending order 10.77+0.24 μg/ml, 11.35+0.13 μg/ml, 13.36+0.11 μg/ml,13.93+0.71 μg/ml and14.25+ 0.27 μg/ml respectively. The extracts have been shown effective efficacy against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. However, it did not show any responses against Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Antibiotic misuse has led to the development and spread of multidrug-resistant (MDR) microorganisms. This study evaluated the antibacterial activity of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and aqueous extracts of the marine sponge Amphimidon chloros. The antibacterial activity of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and aqueous extracts was evaluated using broth microdilution and disc diffusion. The chemical composition of the extracts was analysed using Liquid Chromatography-Mass spectrometry (LC-MS). The antibacterial potency of the extracts was in the following order: aqueous > n-hexane > ethyl acetate extracts. The most significant inhibitory activity of the aqueous extract was against Shigella flexneri, with an inhibition zone of 20.6 mm. Klebsiella pneumonia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Listeria monocytogenes were utterly resistant to ampicillin and chloramphenicol; however, the aqueous extract efficiently inhibited these bacteria. The extract MIC ranged from 0.0195-2.5 mg/mL. With maximal inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus (0.0195 mg/mL), Bacillus cereus (0.0390 mg/mL), Shigella flexneri (0.0390 mg/mL), and Salmonella enterica (0.0781 mg/mL). While L. monocytogenes (0.3125 mg/mL) and S. aureus (0.625 mg/mL) were the only Gram-positive bacteria inhibited, the ethyl acetate extract was equally effective (MIC of 0.3125 mg/mL) against Gram-negative bacteria, including K. pneumonia, S. typhi, S. enterica, Enterobacter aerogenes, and E. coli. The n-hexane extract inhibited S. aureus, S. flexneri, and S. enterica with a MIC value of 0.1562/mL. The most prevalent phytochemicals in the aqueous and n-hexane extracts from the LC-MS study were nakinadine and kermaphidine. The discovery of lupeol, a triterpenoid compound (C30H50O), in the ethyl acetate leaf extract of Justicia secunda (Blood root), has opened doors to extensive research and development opportunities in natural product-based pharmaceuticals. Lupeol’s versatile pharmacological properties, including anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antidiabetic, and antiviral effects, make it a compelling candidate for drug development. To fully harness its potential, a comprehensive understanding of lupeol’s structural and chemical attributes is crucial. Through quantum chemical calculations using the GAUSSIAN 09 suite of programs, we determined the optimized geometry, IR frequencies, bond distances (R), bond angles (A), dipole moments, HOMO-LUMO and other molecular parameters for this solitary molecule. The remarkable accuracy and reliability of computational techniques in predicting the properties of systems and reactants are evident in the consistently favorable results. A strong concordance and consistency between the experimental and computational outcomes further reinforces the credibility of our findings. Golden buckwheat, also called Fagopyrum dibotrys (D. Don) H. Hara, is a plant of the genus Buckwheat in the buckwheat family. The aim of this study was to screen the bioactive ingredients of golden buckwheat extract and investigate the protective effect on acute lung injury (ALI). The ethyl acetate extract (EAE) was identified as the active fraction in LPS‐induced RAW264.7 cells, with gallic acid, proanthocyanidin B2, and epicatechin at 0.0563%, 0.3707%, and 0.3868%, respectively. At the same time, 20 compounds (mainly flavonoids and organic acids) were identified by UPLC‐Q‐Exactive Orbitrap‐HRMS in EAE. Furthermore, the EAE reduced lung histopathology scores in mice with ALI, decreased the dry‐to‐wet weight ratio of lung tissue, and significantly inhibited the concentrations of IL‐1β, TNFα, and IL‐6 in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF). It also reduced the number of leukocytes, decreased the activity of MPO in lung tissue, and inhibited the levels of TLR4/NLRP3 pathway mRNA and protein in lung tissue. Our study indicated that golden buckwheat as a source of functional food prevents or treats associated lung diseases by modulating the activation of the TLR4/NLRP3 signaling pathway. Eleutherococcus divaricatus (Siebold and Zucc.) S. Y. Hu. has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) due to its anticancer, immunostimulant, and anti-inflammatory activities. However, its mechanism of action and chemical composition are still insufficiently understood and require more advanced research, especially for cases in which anti-inflammatory properties are beneficial. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of E. divaricatus root extracts and fractions on proinflammatory serum hyaluronidase and tyrosinase in children diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Antioxidant and anti-melanoma activities were also examined and correlated with metabolomic data. For the first time, we discovered that the ethyl acetate fraction significantly inhibits hyaluronidase activity, with mean group values of 55.82% and 63.8% for aescin used as a control. However, interestingly, the fraction showed no activity against human tyrosinase, and in A375 melanoma cells treated with a doxorubicin fraction, doxorubicin activity decreased. This fraction exhibited the most potent antioxidant activity, which can be attributed to high contents of polyphenols, especially caffeic acid (24 mg/g). The findings suggest an important role of the ethyl acetate fraction in hyaluronidase inhibition, which may additionally indicate its anti-inflammatory property. Cuban wine is a traditional alcoholic beverage elaborated with a wide variety of raw materials, such as native grapes, tropical fruits, and rice, and different winemaking processes. Research on Cuban wines is almost nonexistent, and therefore, a study of these wines is necessary to improve their quality. Dynamic headspace (DHS)‐TD‐gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) analysis was carried out to establish the different aroma fingerprints of different Cuban wines. A total of 42 volatile aroma metabolites (VAMs) were identified, including esters, alcohols, aldehydes, acids, volatile phenols, terpenes, and lactones. The odorant activity values (OAV) of each VAM were obtained, and the esters were the most relevant group due to their highest OAV. Ethyl octanoate, hexanoate, and butanoate stand out and are considered key odorants in the aromatic fingerprint. The VAMs were grouped into seven aromatic series. Fruity series showed the highest OAVs due to the contribution of ethyl esters and acetates. Principal component analysis was used to identify the specific parameters most accurately reflecting the differences between the wines. Showing that fruity, spicy, and chemical aromatic series allow distinguishing the wines into three aroma types. These results may provide useful information for the selection of raw materials and optimization of the traditional winemaking processes of Cuban wines. Practical Application: This research contributes to knowledge of the aroma and the oenological parameters of traditional and selected Cuban wines (rice wine, tropical fruit wine, and native grape varieties). Background: Antimicrobial resistance among pathogens is an emerging problem, gaining significant importance recently. Pharmaceutical scientists are constantly exploring innovative and effective antibacterial agents. Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) is a bacterium primarily responsible for pneumonia and infections in the liver, kidneys, and other body parts. It is a Gram-negative bacterium that can be controlled by antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin and levofloxacin. However, this pathogen sometimes exhibits resistance to these antibacterial agents. Methods: Recognizing the well-known potential of plants as sources of medicinal compounds, our study focused on the ethyl acetate, acetone and methanol extract of the leaves of Bridelia stipularis and its impact on the growth of P. aeruginosa using well diffusion method. To gain insight into the composition of the extract, we conducted GC–MS analysis. After identifying the components present in the extract, we assessed the drug-likeness, absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) and conducted docking studies of the molecules with the selected structural receptors of P. aeruginosa to find out the active component present in the extract. Results: Remarkably, only methanol extract of Bridelia stipularis demonstrated significant antibacterial activity against this pathogen. In silico investigations revealed that two compounds, namely ethyl iso-allocholate and toluene sulfonylhydrazone derivative, exhibited high inhibition potencies. All structural receptors of the pathogen taken for this study were well inhibited by ethyl iso-allocholate while the receptors such as laconizing lipase and penicillin-binding protein of the bacterium were bound well with the 4-phenyl-3-penten-2-one p-toluene sulfonylhydrazone. Conclusions: Observations of this study clearly establish that the two phytochemicals present in the methanolic extract, i.e., ethyl iso-allocholate and toluene sulfonylhydrazone derivative of Bridelia stipularis leaves are highly active against the growth of the opportunistic pathogen P. aeruginosa. Arthrobotrys oligospora is a nematode-trapping fungus belonging to the family Orbiliaceae and one of the main antagonists of nematodes in soil, including plant and animal parasitic nematodes and free-living nematodes. This species develops three-dimensional adhesive nets in which nematodes are trapped, destroyed and consumed by the fungus. It also possesses other strategies to immobilise, kill and degrade nematodes, i.e. nematode-attractant substances, cuticle adhesion polymers and a number of nematocidal metabolites. The objective of this study was to assess the in vitro nematocidal activity of a strain of A. oligospora through its predatory activity and its liquid culture filtrates (LCF) against the ruminant parasite Haemonchus contortus (HcL3) and to investigate the presence of myco-compounds with potential nematocidal activity. Predatory activity (PA) was assessed in agar plates; 200 HcL3 were placed on agar plates with the fungus and a control group and incubated for 10 days. The LCF confrontation with nematodes was performed in microtiter plates. Two media, Czapek-Dox Broth (Cz-DB) and potato dextrose broth, were assessed. Three concentrations (25, 50 and 100 mg/mL) were assessed at 48 and 72 h (n = 4, per concentration). The experiment was performed in triplicate. The results showed 73.6 ± 2.7% PA and the highest mortality (83%) with the LCF in Cz-DB after 72 h. Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) analysis revealed that the A. oligospora ethyl acetate phase was composed of 1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid, bis (2-methylpropyl) ester, (M) 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid, bis (2-methylpropyl) ester and (M) decanedioic acid (2-ethylexyl) ester. Exploring stable and robust catalysts to replace the current toxic CuCr based catalysts for dehydrogenative coupling of ethanol to ethyl acetate is a challenging but promising task. Herein, novel NiIn based catalysts were developed by tailoring Ni catalysts with Indium (In) for this reaction. Over the optimal Ni0.1Zn0.7Al0.3InOx catalyst, the ethyl acetate selectivity reached 90.1% at 46.2% ethanol conversion under the conditions of 548 K and a weight hourly space velocity of 1.9 h-1 in the 370 h time on stream. Moreover, the ethyl acetate productivity surpassed 1.1 gethyl acetate gcatalyst-1 h-1, one of the best performance in current works. According to catalyst characterizations and conditional experiments, the active sites for dehydrogenative coupling of ethanol to ethyl acetate were proved to be Ni4In alloys. The presence of In tailored the chemical properties of Ni, and subsequently inhibited the C–C cracking and/or condensation reactions during ethanol conversions. Over Ni4In alloy sites, ethanol was dehydrogenated into acetaldehyde, and then transformed into acetyl species with the removal of H atoms. Finally, the coupling between acetyl species and surface-abundant ethoxyde species into ethyl acetate was achieved, affording a high ethyl acetate selectivity and catalyst stability. Boswellia carterii (BC) resins plants have a long historical background as a treatment for inflammation, as indicated by information originating from multiple countries. Twenty-seven diterpenoids have been identified in ethyl acetate and total methanol BC, comprising seventeen boscartins of the cembrane-type diterpenoids and ten boscartols of the prenylaromadendrane-type diterpenoids. Moreover, twenty-one known triterpenoids have also been found, encompassing nine tirucallane-type, six ursane-type, four oleanane-type, and two lupane-type. The cembrane-type diterpenoids hold a significant position in pharmaceutical chemistry and related industries due to their captivating biological characteristics and promising pharmacological potentials. Extraction of BC, creation and assessment of nano sponges loaded with either B. carterii plant extract or DEX, are the subjects of our current investigation. With the use of ultrasound-assisted synthesis, nano sponges were produced. The entrapment efficiency (EE%) of medications in nano sponges was examined using spectrophotometry. Nano sponges were characterized using a number of methods. Within nano sponges, the EE% of medicines varied between 98.52 ± 0.07 and 99.64 ± 1.40%. The nano sponges' particle sizes varied from 105.9 ± 15.9 to 166.8 ± 26.3 nm. Drugs released from nano sponges using the Korsmeyer-Peppas concept. In respiratory distressed rats, the effects of BC plant extract, DEX salt and their nano formulations (D1, D5, P1 and P1), were tested. Treatment significantly reduced ICAM-1, LTB4, and ILβ 4 levels and improved histopathologic profiles, when compared to the positive control group. Boswellia extract and its nano sponge formulation P1 showed promising therapeutic effects. The effect of P1 may be due to synergism between both the extract and the formulation. Clematis graveolens Lindl., an indigenous climbing plant found in the Himalayan areas, is used by local communities for the treatment of neck tumors. The objective of this work is to examine the comprehensive metabolomic profile, antioxidant capability, in vitro and in silico anti-glioma effects on U-87 human glioma cell lines of the crude extract and fractions from C. graveolens. Liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectroscopy (LC–MS/MS) was used to establish detailed metabolite profiling of C. graveolens. The assessment of cell cytotoxicity was conducted using MTT cell viability assay on U-87 and BHK-21. Through molecular docking studies, the mode of inhibition and binding interaction between identified compounds and target proteins were also determined to evaluate the in vitro results. The use of LC–MS/MS-based global natural products social (GNPS) molecular networking analysis resulted in the identification of 27 compounds. The crude extract, ethyl acetate fraction, and chloroform fraction exhibited significant inhibitory activity against the U-87 cell lines, with IC50 values of 112.0, 138.1, and 142.7 µg/mL, respectively. The ethyl acetate fraction exhibited significant inhibitory concentration for 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) activity, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) activity and the metal chelation activity with IC50 value of 39.50 µg/mL, 32.27 µg/mL, and 53.46 µg/mL, respectively. The crude extract showed maximum total phenolic, and total flavonoid concentration measuring 338.7 µg GAE/mg, and 177.04 µg QE/mg, respectively. Azadirachta excelsa is a plant belonging to the same genus as the Indian neem (Azadirachta indica) which is expected to have similar biological activities. However, its active components and pharmacological effects are limited. The composition and quantity of these metabolites in A. excelsa may differ due to different polarities of extracting solvents, so selecting an effective extractive solvent with a high level of biological activity is important. Therefore, in this study, we examined differences in the metabolite finger printing using FTIR-based metabolomics, as well as evaluated their antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 6538) and Escherichia coli (ATCC 8739). A. excelsa was extracted using chloroform, ethyl acetate, ethanol p.a., 70% and 50% ethanol. Extracts obtained were analyzed using FTIR and the inhibition zones were then determined. The results showed that principal component analysis (PCA) could distinguish each sample based on the extraction solvent. In this study, we found 50% and 70% ethanol extracts had similar metabolite compositions and concentrations based on their respective FTIR spectrum. The inhibition zone of A. excelsa extracts ranged from 12.37-17.20 mm and 13.88-15.89 mm against S. aureus and E.coli, respectively. The chloroform extract was more effective against both bacteria. Duncan's further test showed that chloroform extract reduced E. coli similarly to ethyl acetate but not S. aureus. While 50%, 70%, and ethanol p.a. extracts inhibited S. aureus and E. coli equally. Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the causes of death in men worldwide. Although treatment strategies have been developed, the recurrence of the disease and consequential side effects remain an essential concern. Diospyros rhodocalyx Kurz, a traditional Thai medicine, exhibits diverse therapeutic properties, including anti-cancer activity. However, its anti-cancer activity against prostate cancer has not been thoroughly explored. This study aims to evaluate the anti-cancer activity and underlying mechanisms of the ethyl acetate extract of D. rhodocalyx Kurz (EADR) related to apoptosis induction in the LNCaP human prostate cancer cell line. Methods: Ethyl acetate was employed to extract the dried bark of D. rhodocalyx Kurz. The cytotoxicity of EADR on both LNCaP and WPMY-1 cells (normal human prostatic myofibroblast cell line) was evaluated using MTS assay. The effect of EADR on the cell cycle, apoptosis induction, and alteration in mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) was assessed by the staining with propidium iodide (PI), Annexin V-FITC/PI, and JC-1 dye, respectively. Subsequent analysis was conducted using flow cytometry. The expression of cleaved caspase-3, BAX, and Bcl-2 was examined by Western blotting. The phytochemical profiling of the EADR was performed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Results: EADR exhibited a dose-dependent manner cytotoxic effect on LNCaP cells, with IC50 values of 15.43 and 12.35 µg/mL after 24 and 48 h, respectively. Although it also exhibited a cytotoxic effect on WPMY-1 cells, the effect was comparatively lower, with the IC50 values of 34.61 and 19.93 µg/mL after 24 and 48 h of exposure, respectively. Cell cycle analysis demonstrated that EADR did not induce cell cycle arrest in either LNCaP or WPMY-1 cells. However, it significantly increased the sub-G1 population in LNCaP cells, indicating a potential induction of apoptosis. The Annexin V-FITC/PI staining indicated that EADR significantly induced apoptosis in LNCaP cells. Subsequent investigation into the underlying mechanism of EADR-induced apoptosis revealed a reduction in MMP as evidenced by JC-1 staining. Moreover, Western blotting demonstrated that EADR treatment resulted in the upregulation of BAX, downregulation of BCL-2, and elevation of caspase-3 cleavage in LNCaP cells. Notably, the epilupeol was a prominent compound in EADR as identified by GC-MS. Conclusion: The EADR exhibits anti-cancer activity against the LNCaP human prostate cancer cell line by inducing cytotoxicity and apoptosis. Our findings suggest that EADR promotes apoptosis by upregulating pro-apoptotic BAX, whereas downregulation of anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 results in the reduction of MMP and the activation of caspase-3. Of particular interest is the presence of epilupeol, a major compound identified in EADR, which may hold promise as a candidate for the development of therapeutic agents for prostate cancer. Juniperus oxycedrus is prevalent in the arid and semi-arid regions of the Mediterranean and Near East and, is traditionally employed for both culinary and medicinal applications. This research evaluates the potential health benefits of ethyl acetate (EAJO) and n-butanol (NBJO) fractions derived from leaves. Quantitative analysis revealed enhanced concentrations of phenolic and flavonoid compounds in the EAJO fraction at 252.56 ± 3.91 mg GAE/g DW and 47.70 ± 2.21 mg QE/g DW, respectively. UPLC-ESI-MS/MS identified a rich array of twelve phenolic acids and flavonoids, with rutin and chrysin identified as the predominant compounds in both fractions. Comprehensive antioxidant assessments through seven distinct assays demonstrated strong properties, with most activities displaying an IC50 values under 30 μg/mL. Additionally, in vitro anti-inflammatory activity showed that the EAJO and NBJO fractions effectively inhibited albumin denaturation at different concentrations, indicating a moderate effect compared to the standard drug diclofenac sodium. EAJO fraction surpassed NBJO in inhibiting key enzymes associated with Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, hyperpigmentation, dermatological disorders, and select bacterial infections, evidenced by IC50 values for acetylcholinesterase, alpha-amylase, tyrosinase, and urease with IC50 values of 14.60 ± 0.98 μg/mL, 639.48 ± 7.43 μg/mL, 206.44 ± 18.48 μg/mL, and 245.77 ± 3.75 μg/mL, respectively. Both fractions also displayed promising photoprotective properties, with SPF ratings of 31.71 ± 0.31 for NBJO and 22.62 ± 1.52 for EAJO. The study aims to explore the viability of ethyl acetate as a solvent for cellulose acetylation and assess the feasibility of producing films from the acetylated cellulose. Methodologically, the research focused on limited variations in reaction temperature and catalyst amount, specifically two temperatures and four catalyst quantities, while maintaining consistent quantities of EtoAc and acetic anhydride, reaction time, solution concentration, and other factors. The structure and properties of acetylated cellulose were investigated by titration (heterogeneous saponification), viscosity, chemical resistance (solubility), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Surprisingly, efficient acetylation in ethyl acetate was achieved with a small catalyst quantity. As the catalyst amount increased, degree of substitution decreased from 2.32 to 0.76. Further investigation involved the production of thin acetate films using the casting method, and evaluating film properties such as ultraviolet (UV) light absorbance, water vapor permeability, tensile strength, and cross-sectional characteristics via scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The films exhibited impressive tensile strengths, reaching up to 76.98 MPa, and demonstrated exceptional transparency. The findings suggest that EtoAc is a suitable solvent for synthesizing cellulose acetate, and adjustments to reaction variables hold the potential to enhance product qualities. To evaluate the phytochemical composition, antibacterial, and antioxidant activity of successive extracts of Centaurea calcitrapa L. (C. calcitrapa) aerial flowering parts, they were assessed in vitro. Using a spectrophotometer, the sample absorbance at 517 nm was used to quantify the scavenging activity. The negative control was DPPH. In the current study, the diffusion using agar wells technique was adapted to measure antimicrobial activity. Phytochemical analysis was performed using the recommended standard procedures. The methanol extract of C. calcitrapa exhibited high levels of total phenolic acids expressed as gallic acid (GA), measured as (97.25 ± 0.73 mg GAE/g) content compared to the chloroform, acetyl acetate, and aqueous extracts (27.42 ± 0.29, 64.25 ± 0.96, and 17.25 ± 0.73 mg GAE/g), respectively. Additionally, the methanol extract had a higher total tannin (27.52 ± 0.53 mg TAE/g) content compared to the chloroform, ethyl acetate, and aqueous extracts (12.02 ± 0.55, 26.01 ± 0.81, and 7.35 ± 0.56 mg TAE/g), respectively, while the aqueous extract contains a lower percentage of flavonoids (141.10 ± 1.31 mg RTE/g) compared to the higher content achieved by the methanol extract (425.93 ± 1.27 mg RTE/g). The hydroxyl groups of the flavonoid and the phenolic compounds found in C. calcitrapa are essentially scavenging free radicals. Radical scavenging activity was highest in the methanol extract (IC50 = 2.82 μg/mL), aqueous extract (IC50 = 8.03 μg/mL), ethyl acetate extract (IC50 = 4.79 μg/mL), and chloroform extract (IC50 = 6.33 μg/mL), as compared to the standard scavenging activity (IC50 = 2.52 μg/mL). The antibacterial properties of C. calcitrapa against Gram-negative bacterial strains Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, and Acinetobacter baumanii, in addition to Gram-positive strains Staphylococcus haemolyticus, Enterococcus faecalis, and Staphylococcus aureus, revealed inhibition zone diameter. The findings of this investigation establish that the aerial flowering parts of C. calcitrapa have substantial antibacterial action against human infections, and the plant can serve as a significant antioxidant that can be employed to prevent and treat severe degenerative diseases brought on by oxidative stress. qPCR showed that C. calcitrapa extracts elevate both SOD1 and SOD2 (cellular oxidation markers) with remarkable folds (1.8-fold for SOD1 and SOD2) with ethyl acetate plant extract against ascorbic acid as a control. Our results have clearly indicated that the Ethyl acetate extract of Aerva lanata shows better results than Methanolic extract and it was quite promising for further studies in this regard. In the present investigation, phytochemical screening of different extracts of Wrightia tinctoria has been tested by using standard procedures. The findings showed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, steroids, terpenoids and glucosides. Among the four solvents tested (aqueous, ethanol, N-hexane and ethyl acetate) ethanol extract of leaf showed the best result. The free radical scavenging activity of both the extract was measured by using the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay. The aqueous and ethanol extracts of Wrightia tinctoria leaf shows slightly different antioxidant activity. The remarkable activity showed by the plant is due to the synergic effect of active compounds present in it. The composition controller is applied to precisely control the feed ratio of EO and water, thereby ensuring the qualified products when facing ± 10 % feed flowrate disturbances and ± 5 % feed composition disturbances. Today, image segmentation methods are widely used for various applications, including object detection. Multilevel Thresholding Image Segmentation (MTIS) methods are among the efficient methods for image segmentation. In MTIS methods, it is very important to find the thresholds that gives the best performance for the MTIS and better separate and detect the objects on the image from the image background. Meta-Heuristic (MH) algorithms are among the strategies that can achieve good results in obtaining optimal thresholds to solve this problem. In this paper, we use the combination of Arithmetic Optimization Algorithm (AOA) and Harris Hawks Optimizer (HHO) to improve AOA in exploitation phase, and achieve an optimal threshold vector for MTIS. Therefore, our new hybrid AOA-HHO algorithm solves the MTIS problem with better quality than both AOA and HHO algorithms and some other MH algorithms, and can obtain better thresholds that increase the performance of the MTIS system than AOA and HHO. AOA is powerful in the exploration, and HHO in exploitation phase is powerful. Therefore, AOA-HHO uses the features of both algorithms to search the entire search space locally and globally to find the best find the solution, the high power of the AOA exploration phase, and the high power of the HHO exploitation phase. Also, we use a mathematical equation as the fitness function, that is obtained by using image features. A series of experiments were performed using seven different threshold levels on the test images. Experiments show that AOA-HHO method is better than the compared algorithms and even HHO and AOA in terms of image segmentation accuracy, fitness function value, Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM), and execution time. Covalent organic framework (COF)-based membranes are burgeoning candidates for separation technologies owing to their well-ordered channel structures. However, it is still a significant challenge to obtain high-quality COF membranes with a mild and convenient preparation strategy. In this paper, we adopted a simple liquid-liquid interfacial polymerization method to manufacture a self-standing COF membrane with decent crystallinity at room temperature. Aldehyde monomer and catalyst were dissolved in water as the bottom layer and the amine monomer was dissolved in ethyl acetate as the top layer, and new COF membranes were subsequently obtained by interfacial polymerization in the two-phase interface. The synthetic conditions including precursor and catalyst dosage were further optimized, and thus-synthesized PDA-TAPB-ABC membrane displayed a stable rejection to MB of 97.57% with a high water permeance of up to 101. 32 L m−2h−1bar−1. Its dyes separation performance was much better than their AA-stacking counterpart. Moreover, the prepared membrane endowed favorable chemical stability and long-term durability. Metabolites exploration of the ethyl acetate extract of Fusarium solani culture broth that was isolated from Euphorbia tirucalli root afforded five compounds; 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde (1), 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (2), tyrosol (3), azelaic acid (4), malic acid (5), and fusaric acid (6). Fungal extract as well as its metabolites were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory and anti-hyperpigmentation potential via in vitro cyclooxygenases and tyrosinase inhibition assays, respectively. Azelaic acid (4) exhibited powerful and selective COX-2 inhibition followed by fusaric acid (6) with IC50 values (2.21 ± 0.06 and 4.81 ± 0.14 μM, respectively). As well, azelaic acid (4) had the most impressive tyrosinase inhibitory effect with IC50 value of 8.75 ± 0.18 μM compared to kojic acid (IC50 = 9.27 ± 0.19 μM). Exclusive computational studies of azelaic acid and fusaric acid with COX-2 were in good accord with the in vitro results. Interestingly, this is the first time to investigate and report the potential of compounds 3–6 to inhibit cyclooxygenase enzymes. Wild chimpanzees consume a variety of plants to meet their dietary needs and maintain wellbeing. While some plants have obvious value, others are nutritionally poor and/or contain bioactive toxins which make ingestion costly. In some cases, these nutrient-poor resources are speculated to be medicinal, thought to help individuals combat illness. In this study, we observed two habituated chimpanzee communities living in the Budongo Forest, Uganda, and collected 17 botanical samples associated with putative self-medication behaviors (e.g., bark feeding, dead wood eating, and pith-stripping) or events (e.g., when consumer had elevated parasite load, abnormal urinalysis, or injury). In total, we selected plant parts from 13 species (nine trees and four herbaceous plants). Three extracts of different polarities were produced from each sample using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol/water (9/1, v/v) and introduced to antibacterial and anti-inflammatory in vitro models. Extracts were evaluated for growth inhibition against a panel of multidrug-resistant clinical isolates of bacteria, including ESKAPE strains and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibition activity. Pharmacological results suggest that Budongo chimpanzees consume several species with potent medicinal properties. In the antibacterial library screen, 45 out of 53 extracts (88%) exhibited ≥40% inhibition at a concentration of 256 μg/mL. Of these active extracts, 41 (91%) showed activity at ≤256μg/mL in subsequent dose-response antibacterial experiments. The strongest antibacterial activity was achieved by the n-hexane extract of Alstonia boonei dead wood against Staphylococcus aureus (IC50: 16 μg/mL; MIC: 32 μg/mL) and Enterococcus faecium (IC50: 16 μg/mL; MIC: >256 μg/mL) and by the methanol-water extract of Khaya anthotheca bark and resin against E. faecium (IC50: 16 μg/mL; MIC: 32 μg/mL) and pathogenic Escherichia coli (IC50: 16 μg/mL; MIC: 256 μg/mL). We observed ingestion of both these species by highly parasitized individuals. K. anthotheca bark and resin were also targeted by individuals with indicators of infection and injuries. All plant species negatively affected growth of E. coli. In the anti-inflammatory COX-2 inhibition library screen, 17 out of 51 tested extracts (33%) showed ≥50% COX-2 inhibition at a concentration of 5 μg/mL. Several extracts also exhibited anti-inflammatory effects in COX-2 dose-response experiments. The K. anthotheca bark and resin methanol-water extract showed the most potent effects (IC50: 0.55 μg/mL), followed by the fern Christella parasitica methanol-water extract (IC50: 0.81 μg/mL). This fern species was consumed by an injured individual, a feeding behavior documented only once before in this population. These results, integrated with associated observations from eight months of behavioral data, provide further evidence for the presence of self-medicative resources in wild chimpanzee diets. This study addresses the challenge of distinguishing preventative medicinal food consumption from therapeutic self-medication by integrating pharmacological, observational, and health monitoring data—an essential interdisciplinary approach for advancing the field of zoopharmacognosy. Secondary metabolites, bioactive compounds produced by living organisms, can unveil symbiotic relationships in nature. In this study, soilborne entomopathogenic nematodes associated with symbiotic bacteria (Xenorhabdus stockiae and Photorhabdus luminescens) were extracted from solvent supernatant containing secondary metabolites, demonstrating significant inhibitory effects against E. coli, S. aureus, B. subtilus, P. mirabilis, E. faecalis, and P. stutzeri. The characterization of these secondary metabolites by Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy revealed amine groups of proteins, hydroxyl and carboxyl groups of polyphenols, hydroxyl groups of polysaccharides, and carboxyl groups of organic acids. Furthermore, the obtained crude extracts were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography for the basic identification of potential bioactive peptides. Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry analysis of ethyl acetate extracts from Xenorhabdus stockiae identified major compounds including nonanoic acid derivatives, proline, paromycin, octodecanal derivatives, trioxa-5-aza-1-silabicyclo, 4-octadecenal, methyl ester, oleic acid, and 1,2-benzenedicarboxylicacid. Additional extraction from Photorhabdus luminescens yielded functional compounds such as indole-3-acetic acid, phthalic acid, 1-tetradecanol, nemorosonol, 1-eicosanol, and unsaturated fatty acids. Oil-Gan is the fruit of the genus Phyllanthus emblica L. The fruits have excellent effects on health care and development values. There are many methods for the management of diabetic nephropathy (DN). However, there is a lack of effective drugs for treating DN throughout the disease course. The primary aim of this study was to examine the protective effects (including analyses of urine and blood, and inflammatory cytokine levels) and mechanisms of the ethyl acetate extract of P. emblica (EPE) on db/db mice, an animal model of diabetic nephropathy; the secondary aim was to examine the expression levels of p- protein kinase Cα (PKCα)/t-PKCα in the kidney and its downregulation of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and fibrosis gene transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) by Western blot analyses. Eight db/m mice were used as the control group. Forty db/db mice were randomly divided into five groups. Treatments included a vehicle, EPE1, EPE2, EPE3 (at doses of 100, 200, or 400 mg/kg EPE), or the comparative drug aminoguanidine for 8 weeks. After 8 weeks of treatment, the administration of EPE to db/db mice effectively controlled hyperglycemia and hyperinsulinemia by markedly lowering blood glucose, insulin, and glycosylated HbA1c levels. The administration of EPE to db/db mice decreased the levels of BUN and creatinine both in blood and urine and reduced urinary albumin excretion and the albumin creatine ratio (UACR) in urine. Moreover, EPE treatment decreased the blood levels of inflammatory cytokines, including kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1), C-reactive protein (CRP), and NLR family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3). Our findings showed that EPE not only had antihyperglycemic effects but also improved renal function in db/db mice. A histological examination of the kidney by immunohistochemistry indicated that EPE can improve kidney function by ameliorating glomerular morphological damage following glomerular injury; alleviating proteinuria by upregulating the expression of nephrin, a biomarker of early glomerular damage; and inhibiting glomerular expansion and tubular fibrosis. Moreover, the administration of EPE to db/db mice increased the expression levels of p- PKCα/t-PKCα but decreased the expression levels of VEGF and renal fibrosis biomarkers (TGF-β1, collagen IV, p-Smad2, p-Smad3, and Smad4), as shown by Western blot analyses. These results implied that EPE as a supplement has a protective effect against renal dysfunction through the amelioration of insulin resistance as well as the suppression of nephritis and fibrosis in a DN model.
