Background and Objectives: Today, the increased number of Internet-connected smart devices require powerful computer processing servers such as cloud and fog and necessitate fulfilling requests and services more than ever before. The geographical distance of IoT devices to fog and cloud servers have turned issues such as delay and energy consumption into major challenges. However, fog computing technology has emerged as a promising technology in this field. Methods: In this paper, service/energy management approaches are generally surveyed. Then, we explain our motivation for the systematic literature review procedure (SLR) and how to select the related works. Results: This paper introduces four domains of service management and energy management, including Architecture, Resource Management, Scheduling management, and Service Management. Scheduling management has been used in 38% of the papers. Therefore, they have the highest service management and energy management. Also, Resource Management is the second domain that has been able to attract about 26% of the papers in service management and energy management. Conclusion: About 81% of the fog computing papers simulated their approaches, and the others implemented their schemes using a testbed in the real environment. Furthermore, 30% of the papers presented an architecture or framework for their research, along with their research. In this systematic literature review, papers have been extracted from five valid databases, including IEEE Xplore, Wiley, Science Direct (Elsevier), Springer Link, and Taylor & Francis, from 2013 to 2022. We obtained 1596 papers related to the discussed subject. We filtered them and achieved 47 distinct studies. In the following, we analyze and discuss these studies; then we review the parameters of service quality in the papers, and ultimately, we present the benefits, drawbacks, and innovations of each study. Despite the tightening of energy performance standards for buildings in various countries and the increased use of efficient and renewable energy technologies, it is clear that the sector needs to change more rapidly to meet the Net Zero Emissions (NZE) scenario by 2050. One of the problems that have been analyzed intensively in recent years is that buildings in operation use much more energy than they were designed to. This problem, known as the energy performance gap, is found in many countries and buildings and is often attributed to the poor management of building energy systems. The application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) has untapped potential to address this problem and lead to more sustainable buildings. This paper reviews different AI-based models that have been proposed for different applications and different buildings with the intention to reduce energy consumption. It compares the performance of the different AI-based models evaluated in the reviewed papers by presenting the accuracy and error rates of model performance and identifies where the greatest potential for energy savings could be achieved, and to what extent. The review showed that offices have the greatest potential for energy savings (up to 37%) when they employ AI models for HVAC control and optimization. In the wake of increasing global emphasis on sustainable environmental practices, South African organisations strive to integrate green business principles into their strategies. The paper's objective was to evaluate the importance and implementation of an energy policy within the financial services sector in line with ISO50001. The paper presents findings from a quantitative non-experimental study within the South African financial services sector through a structured questionnaire. The findings showed that although the implementation of an energy policy is important, there is still a gap in the adoption of an energy policy within the financial services sector. The study further found that a notable percentage (29.5%) of respondents indicated that the energy policy did not provide sufficient guidance on energy targets and objectives. Setting an energy policy is the starting point and driving force for implementing energy management. It should be the priority of managers who have not yet done so. As new energy technologies mature and become more widely available, hybrid vehicles are increasingly being adopted by consumers. However, the existence of at least two power modes and energy management methods has had a significant impact on their related operating costs. This paper proposes an energy management algorithm for this type of vehicles based on an improved deep Q-Learning neural network. This way the energy consumption for hybrid vehicles could be reduced, the efficiency of their energy utilisation could be improved, and their related cost advantages could be enhanced in comparison with traditional fuel-powered vehicles. By using a mixture of multiple representative operating conditions for testing purposes, the conducted experiment confirmed that the fuel consumption per 100 kilometers for the algorithm based on double deep Q-networks under random operating conditions 1 and 2 was 4.05L/100km and 3.64L/100km, respectively. Moreover, the average fuel consumption per 100 seconds for this algorithm was 43ml/100s, which was significantly lower than that of the other three employed automotive powertrain energy management algorithms. The obtained experimental results proved that the energy management algorithm for the hybrid electric vehicle powertrain presented in this paper featured excellent energy control and management capabilities. With the rapid development of renewable energy and the increasing maturity of energy storage technology, microgrids are quickly becoming popular worldwide. The stochastic scheduling problem of microgrids can increase operational costs and resource wastage. In order to reduce operational costs and optimize resource utilization efficiency, the real-time scheduling of microgrids becomes particularly important. After collecting extensive data, reinforcement learning (RL) can provide good strategies. However, it cannot make quick and rational decisions in different environments. As a method with generalization ability, meta-learning can compensate for this deficiency. Therefore, this paper introduces a microgrid scheduling strategy based on RL and meta-learning. This method can quickly adapt to different environments with a small amount of training data, enabling rapid energy scheduling policy generation in the early stages of microgrid operation. This paper first establishes a microgrid model, including components such as energy storage, load, and distributed generation (DG). Then, we use a meta-reinforcement learning framework to train the initial scheduling strategy, considering the various operational constraints of the microgrid. The experimental results show that the MAML-based RL strategy has advantages in improving energy utilization and reducing operational costs in the early stages of microgrid operation. The Internet of things (IoT) has a variety of application domains including smart homes. A smart home is an automated intelligent home where IoT technologies are used to remotely control home appliances, manage home energy, enhance home security, and increase the comfort of home residents. On the other hand, renewable energy resources are highly speared to cover huge electricity demand. To save more energy and maximize energy efficiency, smart homes are engaged with energy management systems. Energy management and optimization solutions can help in decreasing the overall cost of energy while optimizing all operational performance. This paper presents an IoT-based optimal energy management approach depending on the Harmony Search optimization technique to save energy usage in smart homes. PV and wind renewable energy systems are used to feed the home with electricity. These on-site energy sources help smart homes to decrease their dependence on power from the electricity grid. Energy storage systems are used to maintain energy system reliability due to the inherent randomness and intermittence of solar radiation and wind speed. The proposed algorithm depends on-demand response to the price variations in the electric energy over time and applies the Time-of-Use pricing principle for controlling household appliances. IoT technology is applied to exchange data between household appliances and the control center, in addition, to communicating both energy management systems and security systems with the control center. In this paper, the IoT system is based on ZigBee wireless technology which is described as the lowest power consumed wireless technology. The algorithm is applied to a proposed building consisting of five floors, each floor contains two apartments with a total area of 200 meters for one apartment. The obtained results prove the efficacy of the proposed Harmony Search-based optimization method in saving energy and reducing electricity bills in smart homes while satisfying the required constraints. Additionally, the performance of the proposed algorithm is validated against four AI algorithms including Genetic Algorithm, Artificial Immune System, Ant Lion Optimization, and Bat Algorithm. In addition to its simplicity in programming and formulation, the conducted comparison demonstrates a similarity in the results with an advantage in the proposed algorithm in improving both the electricity cost-saving and elapsed runtime. The current paper presents a comprehensive review analysis of Multi-agent control methodologies for Integrated Building Energy Management Systems (IBEMSs), considering combinations of multi-diverse equipment such as Heating, Ventilation, and Air conditioning (HVAC), domestic hot water (DHW), lighting systems (LS), renewable energy sources (RES), energy storage systems (ESS) as well as electric vehicles (EVs), integrated at the building level. Grounded in the evaluation of key control methodologies—such as Model Predictive Control (MPC) and reinforcement learning (RL) along with their synergistic hybrid integration—the current study integrates a large number of impactful applications of the last decade and evaluates their contribution to the field of energy management in buildings. To this end, over seventy key scholarly papers from the 2014–2024 period have been integrated and analyzed to provide a holistic evaluation on different areas of interest, including the utilized algorithms, agent interactions, energy system types, building typologies, application types and simulation tools. The combination of different energy vectors like electrical energy, hydrogen, methane, and water is a crucial aspect to deal with in integrated local energy communities (ILECs). The ILEC stands for a set of active energy users that maximise benefits and minimise costs using optimisation procedures in producing and sharing energy. In particular, the proper management of different energy vectors is fundamental for achieving the best operating conditions of ILECs in terms of both energy and economic perspectives. To this end, different solutions have been developed, including advanced control and monitoring systems, distributed energy resources, and storage. Energy management planning software plays a pivotal role in developing ILECs in terms of performance evaluation and optimisation within a multi-carrier concept. In this paper, the state-of-the-art of ILECs is further enhanced by providing important details on the critical aspects related to the overall value chain for constituting an ILEC (e.g., conceptualisation, connecting technologies, barriers/limitations, control, and monitoring systems, and modelling tools for planning phases). By providing a clear understanding of the technical solutions and energy planning software, this paper can support the energy system transition towards cleaner systems by identifying the most suitable solutions and fostering the advancement of ILECs. A genetically optimized fuzzy control algorithm is used to realize the parallel hybrid system's real-time energy distribution between the engine and the electric motor. This paper first adopts fuzzy control to improve the robustness and real-time performance of the entire system. Then, a membership function optimization method based on a genetic algorithm is proposed by simulating the working state of CYCUDDS. Simulation experiments show that compared with unoptimized fuzzy control, the improved fuzzy controller can improve the vehicle's fuel economy and prevent continuous battery discharge, thereby improving battery endurance. Hydrogen energy represents an ideal medium for energy storage. By integrating hydrogen power conversion, utilization, and storage technologies with distributed wind and photovoltaic power generation techniques, it is possible to achieve complementary utilization and synergistic operation of multiple energy sources in the form of microgrids. However, the diverse operational mechanisms, varying capacities, and distinct forms of distributed energy sources within hydrogen-coupled microgrids complicate their operational conditions, making fine-tuned scheduling management and economic operation challenging. In response, this paper proposes an energy management method for hydrogen-coupled microgrids based on the deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG). This method leverages predictive information on photovoltaic power generation, load power, and other factors to simulate energy management strategies for hydrogen-coupled microgrids using deep neural networks and obtains the optimal strategy through reinforcement learning, ultimately achieving optimized operation of hydrogen-coupled microgrids under complex conditions and uncertainties. The multi-degree-of-freedom characteristics of the planetary gear electronic continuously variable transmission (ECVT) configuration in series-parallel hybrid tractors impose more complex requirements for energy management strategies under variable load conditions. For a high-power hybrid tractor, this paper takes the hybrid tractor output-split (OS)-ECVT configuration as the research object and describes the principles of stepless transmission and power-splitting within the configuration. In order to improve the fuel economy of high-power hybrid tractors and the running status of power components, an energy management strategy focused on ploughing conditions based on the Bellman minimum dynamic programming (DP) algorithm is proposed in this paper. Second, equivalent fuel consumption is selected as the performance index for energy-saving control, and the solving principle of the energy management strategy based on the dynamic programming algorithm is established to facilitate the resolution process of the energy management strategy. Finally, the energy-saving control simulation is completed under ploughing conditions. The results show that compared with the energy management strategy based on the optimal operating line (OOL), the energy management strategy based on DP fully utilizes the benefits of low-cost electric energy and enables the hybrid power system to have a wider range of stepless transmission performance. In addition, the hybrid power system has the advantages of enhanced decoupling of speed and torque, higher efficiency, and more economical secondary energy conversion. As a result, the whole machine has enhanced power-split performance, greatly improving the running conditions of the power components. The equivalent fuel consumption values of the energy management strategies based on DP and OOL are about 3.1238 L and 4.2713 L, respectively. Fuel cell hybrid systems, due to their combination of the high energy density of fuel cells and the rapid response capability of power batteries, have become an important category of new energy vehicles. This paper discusses energy management strategies in hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Firstly, a detailed comparative analysis of existing PID control strategies and Adaptive Equivalent Consumption Minimization Strategies (A-ECMSs) is conducted. It was found that although A-ECMS can balance the energy utilization of the fuel cell and power battery well, the power fluctuations of the fuel cell are significant, leading to increased hydrogen consumption. Therefore, this paper proposes an improved Adaptive Low-Pass Filter Equivalent Consumption Minimization Strategy (A-LPF-ECMS). By introducing low-pass filtering technology, transient changes in fuel cell power are smoothed, effectively reducing fuel consumption. Simulation results show that under the 6*FTP75 cycle, the energy loss of A-LPF-ECMS is reduced by 10.89% (compared to the PID strategy) and the equivalent hydrogen consumption is reduced by 7.1%; under the 5*WLTC cycle, energy loss is reduced by 5.58% and equivalent hydrogen consumption is reduced by 3.18%. The research results indicate that A-LPF-ECMS performs excellently in suppressing fuel cell power fluctuations under idling conditions, significantly enhancing the operational efficiency of the fuel cell and showing high application value. Their integration is vital for achieving energy sustainability among all clean energy sources, including wind, solar, and hydropower. This review paper provides a thoughtful analysis of the current status of the smart grid, focusing on integrating various RES, such as wind and solar, into the smart grid. This review highlights the significant role of RES in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reducing traditional fossil fuel reliability, thereby contributing to environmental sustainability and empowering energy security. Moreover, key advancements in smart grid technologies, such as Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, are explored to clarify the related topics to the smart grid. The usage of various technologies enhances grid reliability, efficiency, and resilience are introduced. This paper also investigates the application of Machine Learning (ML) techniques in energy management optimization within smart grids with the usage of various optimization techniques. The findings emphasize the transformative impact of integrating RES and advanced smart grid technologies alongside the need for continued innovation and supportive policy frameworks to achieve a sustainable energy future. The research on energy storage resource management is an important measure to cope with the present problem of uncertainty in the use of renewable energy, in order to explore the evolution of the research focus and future trend of energy storage resource management under the uncertainty of renewable energy, this paper adopts the method of bibliometric analysis, and conducts a visual analysis of the relevant 800 documents in the core collection of the Web of Science by using the CiteSpace to draw co-occurrence maps and analyze the collaborative networks of different countries/regions, institutions and authors in this field, and further conducted journal co-citation analysis, literature co-citation analysis and author co-citation analysis. The keyword co-occurrence, emergent analysis, and cluster co-occurrence analysis reveal the current research focus and trend in this field, and summarize and propose four future key focus directions: energy storage technology improvement, energy storage system integration, expansion of business models for energy storage resource management, and intelligent control of energy storage system, which provide new research paths for solving the problem of renewable energy uncertainty in the future. With the increasing penetration of distributed energy in power systems, the optimal power flow (OPF) analysis-based distribution network energy management system faces challenges such as high data dimensionality, long solution time, and large computational load. In response to these challenges, this paper aims to use the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) to solve the OPF problem of active distribution systems in a fully distributed fashion. Considering the impact of distribution system partitioning on the performance of distributed algorithms, a data-driven network partitioning method based on measurement data is proposed to accelerate the convergence rate of the optimization algorithm. Moreover, different from traditional ADMM algorithms that rely more or less on certain global information, this paper integrates a consensus-based method to coordinate the balance problem at the interface between regions, thereby achieving a fully distributed solution to the OPF problem. In addition, this paper employs the LinDistFlow AC power flow approximation model to resolve the non-convexity challenges of the OPF problem. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through tests on IEEE distribution network cases of different sizes, and its performance in terms of error accuracy and computation time of the optimization algorithm is superior in comparison to other partitioning methods. This systematic review paper examines the current integration of artificial intelligence into energy management systems for electric vehicles. Using the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) methodology, 46 highly relevant articles were systematically identified from extensive literature research. Recent advancements in artificial intelligence, including machine learning, deep learning, and genetic algorithms, have been analyzed for their impact on improving electric vehicle performance, energy efficiency, and range. This study highlights significant advancements in energy management optimization, route planning, energy demand forecasting, and real-time adaptation to driving conditions through advanced control algorithms. Additionally, this paper explores artificial intelligence's role in diagnosing faults, predictive maintenance of electric propulsion systems and batteries, and personalized driving experiences based on driver preferences and environmental factors. Furthermore, the integration of artificial intelligence into addressing security and cybersecurity threats in electric vehicles' energy management systems is discussed. The findings underscore artificial intelligence's potential to foster innovation and efficiency in sustainable mobility, emphasizing the need for further research to overcome current challenges and optimize practical applications. Microgrids have increased in popularity thanks to both the integration of renewable energy resources and their energy distribution capability for remote locations. Moreover, the microgrids, mainly using multiple generators connected in parallel, acquire additional advantages by using both Hot-Swap and Current-Sharing techniques. This paper presents the development of a Hardware in the Loop platform to test Current-Sharing algorithms. It is reinforced that the use of a real-time simulation based on Hardware in the Loop is a viable and cost-effective alternative in the validation of controllers. The platform was developed in a graphical programming environment (LabVIEW 2015) and implemented with NI MyRIO 1900 (National Instruments Corp., Austin, TX, USA) development boards for easier reproducibility. The entire code project is openly available and provided in this paper. A system of photovoltaic energy generators was used to evaluate the performance of the HIL platform. As a result, the platform was able to reproduce a similar behavior to the photovoltaic generator, presenting average mean errors of 0.4 V and 0.2 A in its voltage and current, respectively. Additionally, the platform showed its capability to test Current-Sharing algorithms in the occurrence of Hot-Swap events. The development and use of single‐phase electric energy router (SPEER) makes the household power system operate more reliably and bring economic income at the same time. This paper presents an economic energy optimization management method of SPEER with historical data of previous day and real‐time data in the grid‐connected mode of SPEER, which can be realized by DSP. First, based on the exchange power between the SPEER and the grid, the optimal charging and discharging power of the battery to make up for the energy difference between the previous day and the real time is obtained through the particle swarm intelligence algorithm, and the optimal economic model of SPEER operation is established. Then, on the hardware experimental platform, DSP is used to realize the real‐time optimization, and the optimal economic optimization algorithm proposed in this paper is implemented and verified on hardware experimental platform. Energy management controllers (EMCs) are pivotal for optimizing energy consumption and ensuring operational efficiency across diverse systems. This review paper delves into the various control strategies utilized by energy management controllers and explores their coordination mechanisms. Additionally, it examines the architectures of energy management controllers and their real-world implementations. The paper surveys a spectrum of EMCs, including conventional-based, rule-based, optimization-based, hybrid methods, and commercial software-based approaches, highlighting their respective advantages and drawbacks. It investigates how these controllers are coordinated within complex energy systems to achieve optimal performance and adaptability. Furthermore, the review outlines different architectures of energy management controllers, ranging from centralized to decentralized designs, discussing their suitability for various applications and their impact on system performance. Real-world applications of energy management controllers in sectors such as smart grids, buildings, industrial processes, and transportation systems are examined. Case studies and examples demonstrate the efficacy of different control strategies and architectures in addressing specific energy management challenges and achieving desired outcomes. Overall, this review provides valuable insights into the current landscape of energy management controller design and implementation, offering direction for future research and development in the pursuit of energy optimization and sustainability. The energy management (EM) solution of the multi-microgrids (MMGs) is a crucial task to provide more flexibility, reliability, and economic benefits. However, the energy management (EM) of the MMGs became a complex and strenuous task with high penetration of renewable energy resources due to the stochastic nature of these resources along with the load fluctuations. In this regard, this paper aims to solve the EM problem of the MMGs with the optimal inclusion of photovoltaic (PV) systems, wind turbines (WTs), and biomass systems. In this regard, this paper proposed an enhanced Jellyfish Search Optimizer (EJSO) for solving the EM of MMGs for the 85-bus MMGS system to minimize the total cost, and the system performance improvement concurrently. The proposed algorithm is based on the Weibull Flight Motion (WFM) and the Fitness Distance Balance (FDB) mechanisms to tackle the stagnation problem of the conventional JSO technique. The performance of the EJSO is tested on standard and CEC 2019 benchmark functions and the obtained results are compared to optimization techniques. As per the obtained results, EJSO is a powerful method for solving the EM compared to other optimization method like Sand Cat Swarm Optimization (SCSO), Dandelion Optimizer (DO), Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO), Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA), and the standard Jellyfish Search Optimizer (JSO). The obtained results reveal that the EM solution by the suggested EJSO can reduce the cost by 44.75% while the system voltage profile and stability are enhanced by 40.8% and 10.56%, respectively. With the increase in the integration of renewable sources, the home energy management system (HEMS) has become a promising approach to improve grid energy efficiency and relieve network stress. In this context, this paper proposes an optimization dispatching strategy for HEMS to reduce total cost with full consideration of uncertainties, while ensuring the users' comfort. Firstly, a HEMS dispatching model is constructed to reasonably schedule the start/stop time of the dispatchable appliances and energy storage system to minimize the total cost for home users. Besides, this dispatching strategy also controls the switching time of temperature-controlled load such as air conditioning to reduce the energy consumption while maintaining the indoor temperature in a comfortable level. Then, the optimal dispatching problem of HEMS is modeled as a Markov decision process (MDP) and solved by a deep reinforcement learning algorithm called deep deterministic policy gradient. The example results verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method. This paper proposes a new approach to the design of smart charging systems. It aims to separate the role of the Smart Charging Service Provider (SCSP) from the role of the Charge Point Operator (CPO) to provide real flexibility and efficiency of mass deployment. As interoperability is required for this purpose, the challenge is to use standard equipment and protocols in the design of the smart charging Energy Management System (EMS). The use of an Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI) is crucial for an interface between the EMS and the Charge Point Operator. The smart charging EMS developed has been implemented and successfully tested with two CPOs, with different use cases: (1) EV charging infrastructure at office buildings, and (2) EV charging infrastructure installed at a public car park facility. For a developing country like India, one of the main challenges faced while integrating an energy management system and renewable energy technology is the migration cost faced by the user from the existing system. The existing energy policy of the nation or the community should be reformed in such a way that the user who is willing to adapt to an energy management system should be properly rewarded. Smart appliances and IoT-enabled devices reduce wiring complexity in any conventional home and the smart metering facility aids in the bidirectional communication between consumers and utility companies. But how does it take care of user privacy? What are the reasons behind the user's negligence on-demand response schemes in India? Through a case study, it was observed that the power consumption of domestic consumers in India increased over the years. It was also observed through an energy survey of 200 low-tension domestic consumers that a simple reengineering of lighting loads can save up to 4.68 Megawatt-hour of energy in a year. Thermal management is one of the key factors affecting the performance of hybrid vehicles. However, most traditional energy management strategies lack the consideration of thermal constraints under harsh operating conditions. In this paper, taking a specific type of diesel-electric hybrid system as the research object, a strategy for energy redistribution under thermal management constraints is proposed. The diesel-electric hybrid system model is built and verified. Based on the model, the cooling capacity indexes are selected, and the weight coefficient of each cooling capacity index is determined by neighborhood component analysis. Then a comprehensive thermal evaluation system is obtained. Combined with the thermal evaluation system, the energy redistribution strategy based on the momentum gradient descent method is proposed. Two typical working conditions of high altitude and battery cooling system deterioration are selected, and the energy redistribution strategy is simulated and analyzed in real-time under both working conditions. The results show that the energy redistribution strategy can significantly improve the thermal state of the system at the expense of less overall energy consumption, take into account the economy and thermal balance, and ensure the reliable operation of the vehicle. A lithium-ion battery–ultracapacitor hybrid energy storage system (HESS) has been recognized as a viable solution to address the limitations of single battery energy sources in electric vehicles (EVs), especially in urban driving conditions, owing to its complementary energy features. However, an energy management strategy (EMS) is required for the optimal performance of the HESS. In this paper, an EMS based on the particle swarm optimization (PSO) of the fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is proposed. It aims to minimize battery current and power peak fluctuations, thereby enhancing its capacity and lifespan, by optimizing the weights of formulated FLC rules using the PSO algorithm. This paper utilizes the battery temperature as the cost function in the optimization problem of the PSO due to the sensitivity of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) to operating temperature variations compared to ultracapacitors (UCs). An evaluation of optimized FLC using PSO and a developed EV model is conducted under the Urban Dynamometer Driving Schedule (UDDS) and compared with the unoptimized FLC. Photovoltaic (PV) power generation is one of most promising means to prevent global warming in the present Japan. Since solar panels mounted on building façades are expected to come into wide use in urban areas, accurate estimation of PV potential of building façades is necessary for urban energy management planning. Accordingly, we have developed a system to estimate PV potential of urban buildings using a 3D city model. The system has two significant features: rapid estimation of hourly solar irradiance of points densely distributed on a building surface, and more flexible estimation of PV potential considering an arrangement of solar panels on a building surface. The paper reports our newly developed method to estimate PV potential of urban buildings considering an arrangement of solar panels using dense solar irradiance distribution on a building surface. The rapid estimation of dense solar irradiance distribution on a building surface enables the system to handle more flexible arrangement of solar panels with providing width and height of a solar panel, and clearance around solar panels. Considering some restrictions such as minimum solar irradiance of a solar panel makes PV potential estimated by the system become more realistic. The paper reports experiments conducted in seven urban districts in Japan to investigate the flexibility of the method by using various settings of panel installing conditions. In recent times, there has been a growing focus on multi-micro-grids (MMGs) system, owing to its well-suited structures for efficiently accommodating large-scale integration of distributed energy resources (DER). The construction of modern power system is key to achieving dual carbon goals, where non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) plays a vital role in enhancing energy utilization efficiency and energy management. For example, to enable prosumers to better understand the extent of their flexible loads for demand response and peer-to-peer trading, it is essential to be aware of the types and states of loads using the method of NILM. To improve the predictive accuracy and implementation effectiveness of NILM technology, this paper proposes a novel NILM method integrating meteorological and calendar features. It delves deeply into the close connection between external factors such as temperature, precipitation, wind speed, and holidays, and the energy consumption of electrical appliances, constructing additional associative mappings in the training of the Denoising Autoencoder (DAE) model. Test results on the UK-DALE public dataset show that the NILM method proposed in this paper has significant advantages over traditional NILM methods that consider only single-dimensional electrical data features, in terms of load pattern recognition and accuracy in load energy consumption monitoring. The integration of distributed energy resources and smart grid technologies has increased the vulnerability and complexity of modern power systems, especially in the face of extreme events. Enhancing the resilience of power systems is crucial to ensure continuous and reliable electricity supply during and after such events. This paper proposes a preventive framework to enhance the resilience of networked microgrids (NMGs) during extreme events. The framework integrates optimal energy management strategies and preventive resilience enhancement measures, focusing on the coordination and utilization of hydrogen (H2) energy systems and controllable distributed generators (CDGs). The framework leverages capacity‐based signals to prompt H2 system owners and CDG operators to prepare for disruptions by fully charging H2 storage tanks and pre‐scheduling CDG commitments. By utilizing this proactive energy scheduling, critical loads can be supplied through stationary fuel cells and CDGs, improving overall network resilience. The proposed resilient energy management approach combines optimization techniques to improve the resilience of NMGs and reduce their dependence on the main grid. Numerical simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed linear model in enhancing the resilience of NMGs and improving their operational performance during extreme events. This paper presents a methodology for jointly optimizing the sizing and operation of AC microgrids. The methodology is applied to the CAMPUSGRID microgrid, which is currently being developed at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Brazil. The distributed energy resources (DERs) considered in the study include a battery energy storage system (BESS), a dispatchable gas generator, and photovoltaic (PV) generation. The proposed energy management system (EMS) minimizes the costs associated with day-ahead operation of the DERs in an unbalanced three-phase AC microgrid. To develop the EMS as a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model, the MATLAB Link module of HOMER Pro and the AMPL API are used. Heuristic rules are also developed for contingency and post-contingency operations in case of unintentional disconnection from the main grid. The sizing simulations combine tariff regimes, contingencies, and dispatch strategies. The results demonstrate the influence of the tariff on the net present cost (NPC) and the importance of resilience in sizing DERs. Additionally, the proposed model is capable of assessing the impact of DERs on the electrical grid. Finally, the joint strategy proposed in this paper leads to a reduction in microgrid investment cost, improvement in voltage magnitude profile, and reduction in active power losses when compared to the default dispatch strategies of HOMER Pro. This paper presents an energy management strategy using a Stateflow controller related to DC microgrids with the important penetration of renewable energy. The increase in world electricity demand is one of the principal drivers of the exhaustion of fossil fuels and increased greenhouse gas emissions. To solve these problems, several countries have adopted actions for widespread renewable energy deployment, which includes wind energy, solar power, biomass power, tidal, and hydropower. These sources are considered as significant in delivering clean energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions for sustainable improvement. As these sources play an increasingly vital role in the global energy landscape, the efficient management of these intermittent sources is essential for grid stability and sustainability. This paper aimed to develop an energy management strategy for DC microgrids to supply power to a DC microgrid system. The main objective of this paper was to implement an energy management system to ensure the proper operation of DC microgrid systems utilizing Simulink blocks available in MATLAB/Simulink 2020b software. The simulation results demonstrated that the developed energy management algorithm was unconditionally reliable, ensuring the proper operation of the microgrid systems. Additionally, the results demonstrated that the energy management strategy exhibited robust performance across different scenarios, effectively balancing energy generation and consumption while ensuring the reliable operation of the microgrid system. Moreover, the developed algorithm model presents another advantage, as it enables users to access and to change any control parameters within the DC microgrid. Surging electricity demand, its limited supply, and the pandemic crisis are just some of the key factors that resulted in changes in electricity prices on the power exchanges. This topic brings about a notable economic influence on both producers and consumers. The main purpose of this paper is to explore power price volatility during the four-year period from 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2021, in 28 power exchanges in Europe, measured using daily velocity data. In addition, based on the fixed and chain base index numbers, as well as their relative merits, this paper was designed to measure the gap and convergence in trends. Considering that the price volatility varies depending on the observation period, this paper performs a comparative analysis of electricity price volatility on a daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual level for all examined countries. The obtained results indicate that electricity price volatility is higher on a daily basis. Related to this, convergent trends are demonstrated on all 28 observed markets, and there is a growing trend of hourly spot prices in the analyzed four-year period. Energy management strategies (EMSs) are one of the key technologies for the development of plug-in hybrid electric buses (PHEBs). This paper addresses the issue of optimal energy distribution for PHEBs under significant variations in passenger load at different bus stations, which cannot be solved by a single equivalent factor equivalent fuel consumption minimization energy management strategy (ECMS). An adaptive equivalent factor equivalent fuel consumption minimization energy management strategy (A-ECMS) considering passenger load is proposed. First, the powertrain system of the PHEB is modeled, and the accuracy of the model is verified in a simulation environment. Then, the reference SOC descent trajectory of the battery is obtained using a dynamic programming (DP) algorithm, the recursive least squares (RLS) method is employed to identify the passenger load, and the influence of different loads on the state of charge (SOC) trajectory under a single equivalent factor is analyzed. Finally, a genetic algorithm (GA) is used to establish the correspondence between passenger load, bus station, and equivalent factor, enabling the actual SOC to follow the reference SOC descent trajectory, thereby achieving optimal energy distribution. Simulation results demonstrate that the A-ECMS reduces fuel consumption of the PHEB per 100 km by 2.59% and 10.10% compared to the ECMS and rule-based EMS, respectively, validating the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.
