There is a lack of standardized measurement tools globally to assess knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions of expecting women toward prenatal screening. The purpose of this systematic review was to identify reasons women pursue or decline prenatal screening and compare the strengths and limitations of available measurement tools used to assess pregnant women's perceptions, knowledge, and attitudes toward prenatal screening. This review followed the five-step York methodology by Arksey and O'Malley and incorporated recommendations from the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis checklist for the extraction, analysis, and presentation of results. The five steps consisted of: (1) identification of the research questions; (2) searching for relevant studies; (3) selection of studies relevant to the research questions; (4) data charting; and (5) collation, summarization, and reporting of results. Four online databases (PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library) were selected after the librarian's development of a detailed search strategy. The Rayyan platform was used between June 2023 and August 2023 to epitomize the articles produced from our search. A total of 68 eligible studies were included in the analysis. The top five major reasons for declining prenatal screening uptake included (1) being unsure of the risk of prenatal screening and harm to the baby or miscarriage (n = 15), (2) not considering action such as termination of pregnancy for prenatal screening to be considered as necessary (n = 14), (3) high cost (n = 12), (4) lack of knowledge about testing procedures and being anxious about the test (n = 10), and (5) being worried about probability of false negative or false positive results (n = 6). Only 32 studies utilized scientifically validated instruments. Difficulties in capturing representative, adequately sized samples inclusive of diverse ethnicities and demographics were pervasive. Findings highlight the need for rigorous validation of research measurement methodologies to ensure the accuracy and applicability of resulting data regarding the assessment of prenatal screening perceptions, knowledge, and attitudes across diverse female populations. Apert syndrome is an inherited condition with autosomal dominant transmission. It is also known as acrocephalosyndactyly type I, being characterized by a syndrome of craniosynostosis with abnormal head shape, facial anomalies (median hypoplasia), and limb deformities (syndactyly, rhizomelic shortening). The association can suspect the prenatal diagnosis of these types of anomalies. The methodology consisted of revising the literature, by searching the PubMed/Medline database in which 27 articles were selected and analyzed, comprising 32 cases regarding the prenatal diagnosis of Apert syndrome. A series of ultrasound parameters, the anatomopathological abnormalities found, the obstetric results, and the genetic tests were followed. The distribution of imaging results (US, MRI) identified in the analyzed cases was as follows: skull-shaped abnormalities were evident in 96.8% of cases, facial abnormalities (hypertelorism 43.7%, midface hypoplasia 25%, proptosis 21.8%), syndactyly in 87.5%, and cardiovascular abnormalities in 9.3%. The anomalies detected by the ultrasound examination of the fetus were confirmed postnatally by clinical or gross evaluation or imaging. Background: Antenatal depression is a significant public health issue affecting pregnant women both globally and in China. Using data from a mobile app-based screening programme, this study explored the prevalence and factors associated with antenatal depressive symptoms across different trimesters in Shenzhen. Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted on pregnant women who gave birth in any hospital in Shenzhen between July 2021 and May 2022 and underwent depression screening using an official maternal and infant health mobile app at least once during pregnancy. Depressive symptoms were evaluated using the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), with cut-off scores of 5 and 10 for mild and high level of symptoms, respectively. The prevalence for each trimester was determined by calculating the proportion of women scoring 5 or higher. A variety of sociodemographic, obstetric, psychological, and lifestyle factors were assessed for their association with depressive symptoms. Chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression were performed to identify significant predictors. Results: A total of 110,584 pregnant women were included in the study, with an overall prevalence of depressive symptoms of 18.0% and a prevalence of high-level symptoms of 4.2%. Depressive symptoms were most prevalent in the first trimester (10.9%) and decreased in the second (6.2%) and third trimesters (6.3%). Only a small proportion (0.4%) of women showed persistent depressive symptoms across all trimesters. Anxiety symptoms in early pregnancy emerged as the most significant predictor of depressive symptoms. Other factors linked to an increased risk throughout pregnancy include lower marital satisfaction, living with parents-in-law, experience of negative life events, as well as drinking before and during pregnancy. Factors associated with a reduced risk throughout pregnancy include multiparity and daily physical activity. Conclusions: This large-scale study provides valuable insights into the prevalence and factors associated with antenatal depressive symptoms in Shenzhen. The findings underscore the need for targeted interventions for high-risk groups and the integration of mental health care into routine antenatal services. Continuous, dynamic monitoring of depressive symptoms for pregnant women and ensuring at-risk women receive comprehensive follow-up and appropriate psychological or psychiatric care are crucial for effectively addressing antenatal depression and improving maternal and infant health outcomes. Genetic disorders represent a high-impact diagnosis for both patients and their families. Prenatal screening methods and, when recommended, genetic testing allow parents to make informed decisions about the course a pregnancy is going to take. Although offering certainty about the potential evolution and prognosis of the pregnancy, and then the newborn, is usually not possible, genetic counseling can offer valuable insights into genetic disorders. Chromosomal mosaicisms are genetic anomalies that affect only some cell lines in either the fetus or the placenta or both. They can affect autosomal or heterosomal chromosomes, and they can be either numerical or structural. The prognosis seems to be more severe if the genetic alterations are accompanied by malformations visible in ultrasounds. Several genetic techniques can be used to diagnose certain mosaicisms, depending on their nature. A novel approach in prenatal care is non-invasive prenatal screening (NIPS), also known as non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT), which, although it does not always have diagnostic value, can provide valuable information about potential genetic anomalies, especially numerical, with high sensitivity (Se). Introduction: Vasa previa (VP), defined as unprotected fetal vessels traversing the membranes over the cervix, is associated with a high perinatal mortality when undiagnosed prenatally. Conversely, prenatal diagnosis with ultrasound and cesarean delivery before the membranes rupture is associated with excellent outcomes. However, controversy exists regarding screening for VP. In the UK, routine screening for VP is not recommended. The objective of this study was to report the incidence of VP and our experience in the detection of VP with a universal screening protocol at the time of the second‐trimester fetal anomaly scan with third‐trimester confirmation in an unselected population of pregnancies. Material and methods: We performed a single‐center historical cohort study of all pregnant women who underwent routine second‐trimester anomaly screening scans at West Middlesex University Hospital, London, UK, between 2012 and 2016. Over 5 years, every patient undergoing routine anomaly screening was evaluated for VP using a systematic protocol during their 20‐week anomaly scan. Suspected cases of VP were rescanned in the third trimester by specialist sonographers with an interest in VP. The primary outcomes were the incidence and detection of VP. Results: During the study period, 24 690 anatomy scans were performed. A total of 64 patients were identified as having potential VP at the second‐trimester anomaly screening scan, of which 19 were confirmed by the specialist sonographer in the third trimester and at delivery. The screen positive rate was 0.26% (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.20%–0.32%). VP at birth was found in 19/24690 births (1:1299 [95% CI: 1:832–1:2030] births). Universal screening for VP using our protocol had a sensitivity of 100% and a specificity of 99.78% (95% CI: 99.72%–99.84%). The false‐positive rate of the second‐trimester screen was 0.18% (95% CI: 0.13–0.24). There were no false positives or false negatives at delivery. Of the 19 patients with confirmed VP, 17 had scheduled cesarean deliveries, and two required emergency deliveries due to antepartum hemorrhage. One baby died, giving a perinatal mortality of 5%. Conclusions: VP complicates approximately 1:1300 pregnancies. Routine screening for VP yielded a 100% detection rate. Objectives: To assess the diagnostic accuracy of two‐dimensional ultrasound at 11–14 weeks' gestation as a screening test for individual fetal anomalies and to identify factors impacting on screening performance. Methods: This was a systematic review and meta‐analysis that was developed and registered with PROSPERO (CRD42018111781). MEDLINE, EMBASE, Web of Science Core Collection and the Cochrane Library were searched for studies evaluating the diagnostic accuracy of screening for 16 predefined, non‐cardiac, congenital anomalies considered to be of interest to the early anomaly scan. We included prospective and retrospective studies from any healthcare setting conducted in low‐risk, mixed‐risk and unselected populations. The reference standard was the detection of an anomaly on postnatal or postmortem examination. Data were extracted to populate 2 × 2 tables and a random‐effects model was used to determine the diagnostic accuracy of screening for the predefined anomalies (individually and as a composite). Secondary analyses were performed to determine the impact on detection rates of imaging protocol, type of ultrasound modality, publication year and index of sonographer suspicion at the time of scanning. Post‐hoc secondary analysis was conducted to assess performance among studies published during or after 2010. Risk of bias assessment and quality assessment were undertaken for included studies using the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies‐2 tool. Results: From 5684 citations, 202 papers underwent full‐text review, resulting in the inclusion of 52 studies comprising 527 837 fetuses, of which 2399 were affected by one or more of the 16 predefined anomalies. Individual anomalies were not equally amenable to detection on first‐trimester ultrasound: a high (> 80%) detection rate was reported for severe conditions, including acrania (98%), gastroschisis (96%), exomphalos (95%) and holoprosencephaly (88%); the detection rate was lower for open spina bifida (69%), lower urinary tract obstruction (66%), lethal skeletal dysplasias (57%) and limb‐reduction defects (50%); and the detection rate was below 50% for facial clefts (43%), polydactyly (40%) and congenital diaphragmatic hernia (38%). Conditions with a low (< 30%) detection rate included bilateral renal agenesis (25%), closed spina bifida (21%), isolated cleft lip (14%) and talipes (11%). Specificity was > 99% for all anomalies. Secondary analysis showed that detection improved with advancing publication year, and that the use of imaging protocols had a statistically significant impact on screening performance (P < 0.0001). Conclusions: The accurate detection of congenital anomalies using first‐trimester ultrasound is feasible, although detection rates and false‐positive rates depend on the type of anomaly. The use of a standardized protocol allows for diagnostic performance to be maximized, particularly for the detection of spina bifida, facial clefts and limb‐reduction defects. Highlighting the types of anomalies amenable to diagnosis and determining factors enhancing screening performance can support the development of first‐trimester anomaly screening programs. © 2024 The Authors. Background: Deep learning (DL) is a new technology that can assist prenatal ultrasound (US) in the detection of congenital heart disease (CHD) at the prenatal stage. Hence, an economic-epidemiologic evaluation (aka Cost-Utility Analysis) is required to assist policymakers in deciding whether to adopt the new technology. Methods: The incremental cost-utility ratios (CUR), of adding DL assisted ultrasound (DL-US) to the current provision of US plus pulse oximetry (POX), was calculated by building a spreadsheet model that integrated demographic, economic epidemiological, health service utilization, screening performance, survival and lifetime quality of life data based on the standard formula: CUR = Increase in Intervention Costs - Decrease in Treatment costs Averted QALY losses of adding DL to US & POX US screening data were based on real-world operational routine reports (as opposed to research studies). The DL screening cost of 145 USD was based on Israeli US costs plus 20.54 USD for reading and recording screens. Results: The addition of DL assisted US, which is associated with increased sensitivity (95% vs 58.1%), resulted in far fewer undiagnosed infants (16 vs 102 [or 2.9% vs 15.4%] of the 560 and 659 births, respectively). Adoption of DL-US will add 1,204 QALYs. with increased screening costs 22.5 million USD largely offset by decreased treatment costs (20.4 million USD). Therefore, the new DL-US technology is considered "very cost-effective", costing only 1,720 USD per QALY. For most performance combinations (sensitivity > 80%, specificity > 90%), the adoption of DL-US is either cost effective or very cost effective. For specificities greater than 98% (with sensitivities above 94%), DL-US (& POX) is said to "dominate" US (& POX) by providing more QALYs at a lower cost. Background: Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) is a widely adopted maternal blood test that analyses foetal originating DNA to screen for foetal chromosomal conditions, including Down's syndrome (DS). The introduction of this test, which may have implications for important decisions made during pregnancy, requires continual monitoring and evaluation. This systematic review aims to assess the extent of NIPT introduction into national screening programmes for DS worldwide, its uptake, and impact on pregnancy outcomes. Methods and findings: The study protocol was published in PROSPERO (CRD42022306167). We systematically searched MEDLINE, CINAHL, Scopus, and Embase for population-based studies, government guidelines, and Public Health documents from 2010 onwards. Results summarised the national policies for NIPT implementation into screening programmes geographically, along with population uptake. Meta-analyses estimated the pooled proportions of women choosing invasive prenatal diagnosis (IPD) following a high chance biochemical screening result, before and after NIPT was introduced. Additionally, we meta-analysed outcomes (termination of pregnancy and live births) amongst high chance pregnancies identified by NIPT. Results demonstrated NIPT implementation in at least 27 countries. Uptake of second line NIPT varied, from 20.4% to 93.2% (n = 6). Following NIPT implementation, the proportion of women choosing IPD after high chance biochemical screening decreased from 75% (95% CI 53%, 88%, n = 5) to 43% (95%CI 31%, 56%, n = 5), an absolute risk reduction of 38%. A pooled estimate of 69% (95% CI 52%, 82%, n = 7) of high chance pregnancies after NIPT resulted in termination, whilst 8% (95% CI 3%, 21%, n = 7) had live births of babies with DS. Conclusions: NIPT has rapidly gained global acceptance, but population uptake is influenced by healthcare structures, historical screening practices, and cultural factors. Our findings indicate a reduction in IPD tests following NIPT implementation, but limited pre-NIPT data hinder comprehensive impact assessment. Background: Noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) is widely used to screen for fetal aneuploidies. However, there are few reports of using NIPT for screening chromosomal microduplications and microdeletions. This study aimed to investigate the application efficiency of NIPT for detecting chromosomal microduplications. Methods: Four cases of copy number gains on the long arm of chromosome 17 (17q12) were detected using NIPT and further confirmed using copy number variation (CNV) analysis based on chromosome microarray analysis (CMA). Results: The prenatal diagnosis CMA results of the three cases showed that the microduplications in 17q12 (ranging from 1.5 to 1.9 Mb) were consistent with the NIPT results. The karyotypic analysis excluded other possible unbalanced rearrangements. The positive predictive value of NIPT for detecting chromosomal 17q12 microduplication was 75.0%. Conclusions: NIPT has a good screening effect on 17q12 syndrome through prenatal diagnosis, therefore it could be considered for screening fetal CNV during the second trimester. With the clinical application of NIPT, invasive prenatal diagnoses could be effectively reduced while also improving the detection rate of fetal CNV. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Contemporary diagnostic methods aimed at assessing neonatal outcomes predominantly rely on the medical history of pregnant women. Ideally, universal biomarkers indicating an increased risk of delivering infants in poor clinical condition, with a heightened likelihood of requiring hospitalization in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), would be beneficial for appropriately stratifying pregnant women into a high-risk category. Our study evaluated whether biochemical and ultrasonographical markers universally used in first-trimester screenings for non-heritable chromosomal aberrations could serve this purpose. Methods: This study encompassed 1164 patients who underwent first-trimester screening, including patient history, ultrasound examinations, and biochemical tests for pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A) and the free beta-HCG subunit (fbHCG), from January 2019 to December 2021. The research concentrated on the correlation between these prenatal test results and neonatal outcomes, particularly Apgar scores, umbilical blood pH levels, and the necessity for NICU admission. Results: In our cohort, neonates scoring lower than 8 on the Apgar scale at birth exhibited lower concentrations of PAPP-A in the first trimester, both in raw and normalized values (PAPP-A MoM 0.93 vs. 1.027, p = 0.032). We also observed a higher pulsatility index in the venous duct in the first trimester in full-term neonates born with <8 points on the Apgar scale. Additionally, newborns born with an umbilical blood pH < 7.2 had lower normalized first-trimester PAPP-A concentrations (0.69 vs. 1.01 MoM, p = 0.04). We also noted that neonates requiring NICU hospitalization post-delivery had lower first-trimester bHCG concentrations (0.93 MoM vs. 1.11 MoM, p = 0.03). However, none of the correlations in our study translated into a robust prognostic ability for predicting dichotomous outcomes. All areas under the curve achieved a value < 0.7. Conclusions: Low concentrations of PAPP-A and free bHCG subunit in the first trimester may be associated with poorer clinical and biochemical conditions in neonates post-delivery. However, the relationship is weak and has limited predictive capability. Background: To explore the clinical application value of pre‐conception expanded carrier screening (PECS) in the Chinese Han ethnicity population of childbearing age. Methods: The results of genetic testing of infertile parents who underwent PECS in the Reproductive Medicine Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, China, from September 2019 to December 2021, were retrospectively analyzed. The carrier rate of single gene disease, the detection rate of high‐risk parents, and the clinical outcome of high‐risk parents were statistically analyzed. Results: A total of 1372 Chinese Han ethnicity patients underwent PECS, among which 458 patients underwent the extended 108‐gene test, their overall carrier rate was 31.7%, and the detection rate of high‐risk parents was 0.3%. The highest carrier rates were SLC22A (2.4%), ATP7B (2.4%), MMACHC (2.2%), PAH (1.8%), GALC (1.8%), MLC1 (1.3%), UNC13D (1.1%), CAPN3 (1.1%), and PKHD1 (1.1%). There were 488 women with fragile X syndrome—FMR1 gene detection, and 6 patients (1.2%) had FMR1 gene mutation. A total of 426 patients were screened for spinal muscular atrophy—SMN1, and the carrier rate was 3.5%, and the detection rate of parents' co‐carrier was 0.5%. Conclusion: Monogenic recessive hereditary diseases had a high carrier rate in the population. Pre‐pregnancy screening could provide good prenatal and postnatal care guidance for patients and preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic/single gene disorders (PGT‐M) and prenatal diagnosis could provide more precise reproductive choices for high‐risk parents. This study was to evaluate the performance of noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) in detecting fetal chromosome disorders in pregnant women. Methods: From October 1st, 2017, to December 31th, 2022, a total of 15,304 plasma cell free DNA-NIPT samples were collected for fetal chromosome disorders screening. The results of NIPT were validated by confirmatory invasive testing or clinical outcome follow-up. Further, NIPT performance between low-risk and high-risk groups, as well as singleton pregnancy and twin pregnancy groups was compared. Besides, analysis of 111 false-positive cases was performed. Results: Totally, NIPT was performed on 15,086 eligible venous blood samples, of which 179 (1.19%) showed positive NIPT results and 68 were further validated to be true positive samples via confirmatory invasive testing or follow-up of clinical outcomes. For common chromosome aneuploidies, sex chromosome abnormalities (SCA) and other chromosomal aneuploidies, the detection sensitivities of NIPT were all 100%, the specificities were 99.87%, 99.70%, and 99.68% and the positive predictive values (PPVs) were 65.45%, 31.82%, and 10.91%, respectively. No statistically significant variance in detection performance was observed among 2987 high-risk and 12,099 low-risk subjects, as well as singleton and twin pregnancy subjects. The concentration of cell-free fetal DNA of 111 false-positive cases ranged from 5.5% to 33.7%, which was higher than the minimum requirement of NIPT. Conclusion: With stringent protocol, NIPT shows high sensitivity and specificity for detecting fetal chromosome disorders in a large-scale clinical service, helping improving overall pregnancy management. Background: Prenatal detection of critical congenital heart disease (CCHD) optimises perinatal decision-making and neonatal outcomes. The objective of this study was to determine the prenatal screening performance, care pathways and perinatal outcomes for prenatally and postnatally diagnosed cases of CCHD over a four-year period. Study design: This retrospective cohort study in a tertiary centre and its two affiliated secondary sites examined all cases of CCHD, including cases of pregnancy termination and in-utero fetal death, neonatal death and liveborn babies that underwent cardiac catheterization or surgery in the first six weeks of life. Prenatal and postnatal data were ascertained from the first trimester assessment for all patients diagnosed prenatally. Cases requiring intervention that were first identified in the postnatal period were included to determine prenatal detection rates. Follow-up for all cases of CCHD continued to one year of age. Results: In a consecutive cohort of 49,950 pregnancies in a 4-year period 01/2019 to 12/2022, a prenatal diagnosis of CCHD was made in 96 cases, yielding a prevalence of 1.9 per 1000 births. The prenatal detection for right duct-dependant heart pathology and congenital heart block was 100%, 85% for left duct-dependant pathology and 93% for transposition of the great arteries (TGA). In the prenatally diagnosed group, 37% of cases were complicated by extracardiac structural abnormalities, a genetic diagnosis or both. All cases of prenatal detection were identified in the context of routine anatomy screening rather than specialist Fetal Cardiac screening services. Almost half of all pregnancies complicated by CCHD did not undergo neonatal cardiac intervention, by virtue of parental choice determined either prenatally or after birth. An additional eight babies were diagnosed with CCHD in the neonatal period, such that the prenatal detection rate for CCHD was 92% (96/104, 95% CI = 84%-96%). Survival at 1-year for infants deemed suitable for CCHD surgery was 85%. Conclusion: In a large unselected population, optimal rates of prenatal detection of critical congenital heart disease can be achieved by a protocolised approach to mid-trimester fetal anatomy ultrasound, underpinned by a programme of sonographer education and training. Objective: To evaluate the clinical value of positive copy number variations (CNVs) results by non‐invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) without fetal ultrasonography‐identified structural anomalies, especially with several known CNVs results. Methods: A total of 135,981 results of NIPT performed between April 1, 2017, and March 31, 2020, enrolled in the free NIPT service program implemented by the local government were retrospectively analyzed. Of these, 87 cases with positive NIPT screens for CNVs and no fetal ultrasonography‐identified anomalies were recalled and provided genetic counseling. After obtaining full informed consent, these cases were provided invasive prenatal diagnosis by karyotyping and chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA)/copy number variation sequencing (CNV‐seq) with follow‐up. One case was lost, while 86 cases were successfully followed up. Results: A total of 44 (50.6%) cases underwent invasive prenatal diagnosis, of which six cases were detected with abnormal karyotype. CMA/CNV‐Seq revealed 11 fetuses with positive results for CNVs, among whom eight were consistent with NIPT results, two were partially consistent, one was inconsistent, and positive predictive value (PPV) was 22.7% (10/44). For known CNVs, PPVs were 20% (15q11.2‐q13 microdeletion) and 33.3% (5p end deletions). Among 11 pregnant women with positive prenatal diagnosis, seven were confirmed to have pathogenic CNVs in their fetuses; four had CNVs of unknown clinical significance. Conclusions: Even in pregnancies without ultrasonography‐identified anomalies, a positive NIPT screen for CNVs must be interpreted with caution and validated by additional diagnostic study. Objective: Pre‐eclampsia (PE) is a pregnancy complication associated with premature cardiovascular disease morbidity and mortality (i.e. before 60 years of age or in the first year postpartum). PE is associated with adverse left ventricular (LV) remodeling in the peri‐ and postpartum periods, an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease. This study aimed to compare LV geometry by LV mass (LVM) and LVM index (LVMI) between participants with a high vs low screening risk for preterm PE in the first trimester. Methods: This was a prospective cohort study of singleton pregnancies between 11 + 0 and 13 + 6 weeks' gestation that underwent screening for preterm PE as part of their routine first‐trimester ultrasound assessment at a tertiary center in London, UK, from February 2019 until March 2020. Screening for preterm PE was performed using the Fetal Medicine Foundation algorithm. Participants with a screening risk of ≥ 1 in 50 for preterm PE were classified as high risk and those with a screening risk of ≤ 1 in 500 were classified as low risk. All participants underwent two‐dimensional and M‐mode transthoracic echocardiography. Results: A total of 128 participants in the first trimester of pregnancy were included in the analysis, with 57 (44.5%) participants screened as low risk and 71 (55.5%) participants as high risk for PE. The risk groups did not vary in maternal age and gestational age at assessment. Maternal body surface area and body mass index were significantly higher in the high‐risk group (all P < 0.05). The high‐risk participants were significantly more likely to be Afro‐Caribbean, nulliparous and have a family history of hypertensive disease in pregnancy as well as other cardiovascular disease (all P < 0.05). In addition, mean arterial blood pressure (P < 0.001), mean heart rate (P < 0.001), median LVM (130.06 (interquartile range, 113.62–150.50) g vs 97.44 (81.68–114.16) g; P < 0.001) and mean LVMI (72.87 ± 12.2 g/m2vs 57.54 ± 12.72 g/m2; P < 0.001) were significantly higher in the high‐risk group. Consequently, those in the high‐risk group were more likely to have abnormal LV geometry (37.1% vs 7.0%; P < 0.001). Conclusions: Early echocardiographic assessment in participants at high risk of preterm PE may unmask clinically healthy individuals who are at increased risk for future cardiovascular disease. Adverse cardiac remodeling in the first trimester of pregnancy may be an indicator of decreased cardiovascular reserve and subsequent dysfunctional cardiovascular adaptation in pregnancy. © 2023 The Authors. This article discusses a cost-effectiveness study of a prenatal screening algorithm for the detection of trisomies in a middle-income country. A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of routine ultrasound screening for vasa previa (VP), a condition where fetal blood vessels cross the cervix. The study analyzed 16 eligible studies and found that when routine screening was performed, 98% of cases of VP were detected prior to delivery. Perinatal survival rates ranged between 87.5% and 100% when VP was diagnosed prenatally. Every year, 7.9 million infants (6% of worldwide births) are born with serious birth defects, and 3.2 million of these children are disabled for life. This impacts the health and quality of life, which needs the importance of timely detection and preventative measures. The newer advancements include amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling to noninvasive maternal blood sample and DIP-STR marker, ultrasonography, MRI, fetal echocardiography, along with preconception counseling about potential risk assessment to understand the child's likelihood of inheriting a genetic conditions. This poster emphasizes to update all the professional providing pediatric health care about indications, various techniques and its advancement used for prenatal diagnosis and the status of maternal screenings for detection of fetal abnormalities. Together with the genetic consultants assistance in the appropriate use and interpretation of the diagnostic tests that are available, may help us to achieve a better treatment plan and outcome in special care children.
