Cellulosic paper-based electrode materials have attracted increasing attention in the field of flexible supercapacitor. As a conductive polymer, polyaniline exhibits high theoretical pseudocapacitive capacitance and has been applied in paper-based electrode materials along with cellulose fibers. However, the stacking of polyaniline usually leads to poor performance of electrodes. In this study, metal-organic coordination polymers of zirconium-alizarin red S and zirconium-phytic acid are applied to modulate the polyaniline layer to obtain high-performance cellulosic paper-based electrode materials. Zirconium hydroxide is firstly loaded on cellulose fibers while alizarin red S and phytic acid are introduced to regulate the morphology of polyaniline through doping and coordination processes. The results show that the introduction of dual coordination polymers is effective to regulate the morphology of polyaniline on cellulose fibers. The performances of the paper-based electrode materials, including electrical conductivity and electrochemistry, are apparently improved. Long-term excessive uptake of fluoride through potable water will cause adverse effects on human health. Therefore, it is of great significance to detect and remove excessive fluoride in potable water. Here, we reported a multi-functional Zr-based coordination polymer namely CP-1, which could realize the visual detection and effectively selective adsorption of fluoride. The investigation of fluoride adsorption manifested that the maximum fluoride adsorption capacity of CP-1 could reach 48.78 mg g−1 and selective adsorption capacity kept stable in a wide range of pH. By fluorometric approaches, the detection of limit of F− could achieve 1.55 × 10–6 mol L−1 based on CP-1. This paper investigates the synthesis, crystal structure, thermal properties, and energetic performance of two 1D coordination polymers (CPs). The CPs, namely, [Zn(atrz)(DNBA)2(H2O)2]n (1) and [Cd(atrz)(DNBA)2(H2O)2]n (2), were designed and synthesized based on the nitrogen-rich ligand 4,4′-azobis-1,2,4-triazole (atrz) and 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid (HDNBA) via a mixed ligand strategy using a simple and environment-friendly method. The CPs were characterized by various spectroscopic and analytical techniques along with single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD). SCXRD analysis reveals a distorted octahedral geometry around the metal ions (Zn/Cd), leading to the formation of a 1D coordination polymer while constructing a 2D structural framework through intermolecular hydrogen bonding. Both the CPs exhibit similar thermal stability but considerably differ in their heat of formation values (1 = −894.43, 2 = 1635.93 kJ mol−1). CP 2 has higher detonation velocity (7.24 km s−1) and pressure (23.67 GPa) compared to 1 (detonation velocity: 6.28 km s−1, detonation pressure: 17.57 GPa) owing to its higher heat of formation and density. Both the CPs exhibit ideal insensitivity to friction and impact stimuli, ensuring their safety during transportation and processing. The value of average activation energy obtained from isoconversion ASTM E698 for 1 and 2 was reported to be 143.8 and 168.0 kJ mol−1, respectively. This study explores the development of energetic CPs through the mixed ligand strategy based on the atrz ligand and incorporating HDNBA as the co-ligand to reduce the sensitivity while maintaining the comparable energetic performance of previously reported atrz-based complexes. The micro-occurrence characterization of shale oil is a key geological issue that restricts the effective development of continental shale oil in China. In order to make up for the lack of research in this area, this paper carries out a series of experiments on the shale oil of the Lucaogou Formation using a multi-step extraction method, with the aim of exploring the micro-occurrence types and mechanisms of shale oil in the Lucaogou Formation, as well as exploring its direct connection with production and development. In this paper, shale oil in the reservoir is divided into two categories: free oil and residual oil. The polar substances and OSN compounds are the key factors determining the occurrence state of shale oil. Abundant polar substances and OSN compounds can preferentially react with mineral surfaces (including coordination, complexation, ionic exchange, and so on) to form a stable adsorption layer, making it difficult to extract residual oil in actual exploitation. Free oil is mainly composed of aliphatic hydrocarbons, and its adsorption capacity is related to the length of the carbon chain, i.e. long carbon chain, strong adsorption capacity, and poor movability. Free oil is widely stored in pores and cracks, and that with high mobility can be the most easily extracted, making it the main target at present exploitation. In the current state of drilling and fracturing technology, research should prioritize understanding the adsorption and desorption mechanisms of crude oil, particularly residual oil. Broadening the absorption region to near-infrared (NIR) light is critical for the photocatalysis due to the larger proportion and stronger penetration of NIR light in solar energy. In the present paper, one-dimensional (1D) MWO 4 (M = Mn, Co, and Cd) materials synthesized by electrospinning technique, were studied by combining the density functional theory (DFT) with experiment results, which possessed the enhanced light absorption capability within the range of 200–2000 nm. It was proved that in the ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) region, the absorption bands of CoWO 4 and MnWO 4 samples were attributed to the metal-to-metal charge transfer mechanism, while the absorption of CdWO 4 sample may be referable to the ligand-to-metal charge transfer mechanism. In the near-infrared (NIR) region, the absorption of CoWO 4 and MnWO 4 primarily originated from the d-d orbital transitions of Mn2+ and Co2+. The photocatalytic experimental results showed that the degradation rates for bisphenol A (BPA) over CoWO 4 , MnWO 4 , and CdWO 4 photocatalysts under UV–Vis/NIR light irradiation for 140 min/12 h were 78.8 %/75.9 %, 23.8 %/21.3 %, 12.8 %/8.7 %, respectively. This research offers the novel insights into the precise construction of tungstate catalytic systems and contributes to the advancement of UV–Vis–NIR full spectrum photocatalytic technology, and lays a foundation for a cleaner and more environmental-friendly future. In this paper we report the microwave assisted synthesis and characterization of a family of Na−Ln coordination polymers (CPs) of formula [NaDy2(MeCOO)2(SALOH)5(chpH)2] (1Ln, Ln=Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Y). In this paper, we report a two-dimensional (2D) Hofmann-type spin-crossover coordination polymer [FeII(o-NTrz)2PtII(CN)4]·H2O (o-NTrz = 4-(o-nitrobenzyl)imino-1,2,4-triazole). Due to the remarkable configurational flexibility of triazole-based ligand, the porous structure of this compound can be reversibly regulated by the loss of guest water molecules as a consequence of rotation of o-NTrz. The 180° reorientation of the o-nitrobenzyl moiety not only induces a response of gate-closing/opening of the porous framework but also significantly modulates the spin transition temperature. Polar cyano fragments and their isomeric isocyano counterparts have attracted great attention as stimuli-responsive luminescent materials in a wide range of fields including organic light-emitting diode devices, chemical fluorescent sensors, photoelectric semiconductors, anti-counterfeit products, etc., mainly because of their typical electron-deficient activity, noncovalent recognition ability, and variable coordination capacity. The electron-deficient and polar nature of these blocks have significant effects on the properties of the cyano/isocyano-based luminophore materials, especially concerning their condensed state-dependent electronic structures. Among them, donor–acceptor (D–A) derived unimolecular and co-assembled luminophores have attracted more attention because their large delocalized structures and noncovalent interaction recognition sites can rebuild the electronic transfer character in the aggregative state, thus endowing them with outstanding stimuli-responsive luminescent behavior via intermolecular and intramolecular charge transfer in polytropic morphologies. In this perspective paper, we give a brief introduction on stimuli-responsive organic and coordinated luminophores and the documented typical design concepts and applications in recent years. Among four MWCNT-APP-s, MWCNT-APP-Fe has the characteristics of moderate micropore/mesopore, significant hydrophobicity, redox property and functional groups. Interestingly, the redox reaction of Fe3+/Fe2+ and -C N-/-C N- transformation give MWCNT-APP-Fe an energy storage basis of pseudocapacitance, while MWCNTs and the micro/mesopore structure in MWCNT-APP-Fe provide a double-layer energy storage platform. As expected, on base of the dual energy storage mechanism, the symmetric supercapacitor assembled with MWCNT-APP-Fe has a higher specific capacity (Cs, 421 F g−1 at 1 mV s−1) as well as a long-lasting stability of 94.8% capacity retention with 99% Coulombic efficiency after 10,000 cycles at 20 mV s−1. More notably, the relevant aqueous Zn2+ hybrid supercapacitor provides a high capacity (Cm) of 191 mAh g−1 at 0.5 A g−1 and a long duration of over 2000 cycles at 50 A g−1, with a capacity retention of 92.4%. Urease may rapidly hydrolyze urea, causing a significant amount of ammonia to be released and decreasing the efficacy of urea fertilizers. However, urease inhibitors (UIs) can prevent the interaction between urease and urea, allowing crops to absorb ammonium nitrogen for an extended period of time. In this paper, by using different O-donor second auxiliary ligands, we have designed and synthesized two Cu-based coordination polymers (Cu-CPs) to operate as UIs by combining two aromatic carboxylic acids and a bis-pyridine-bis-amide ligand, which show excellent urease inhibitory activity. Cu-CP-1 has an obvious inhibitory effect on the inhibitory activity against jack bean urease, with the IC50 of 1 being 0.83 ± 0.01 μM while the IC50 value for Cu-CP-2 was 2.53 ± 0.01 μM, respectively. Furthermore, inhibitory activity against urease, kinetics, molecular docking, and comparisons of the title Cu-CPs and other complex-based materials have been comprehensively investigated. More importantly, the bridging atoms of μ2-OH and μ2-Cl play important roles in urease inhibition activity. Organic electrode materials are gaining increased attention in energy storage applications, but often encounter challenges such as low capacity and poor cycling stability. This paper explores the utilization of a 1‐D coordination polymer, copper(II)‐2,5‐dihydroxy‐1,4‐benzoquinone (Cu‐DHBQ), as a cathode material for Li‐ion batteries for the first time. Cu‐DHBQ is air‐stable, devoid of coordinated water molecules, and possesses a high theoretical capacity of 266 mAh g−1. With an optimal sodium alginate (SA) binder content of 25 wt%, the Cu‐DHBQ cathode demonstrates a notable initial capacity of 214 mAh g−1 and outstanding cycling stability, retaining 210 mAh g−1 (98% capacity retention) after 200 cycles at a current rate of 100 mA g−1. A comprehensive investigation into the capacity fading mechanisms, the bonding capability of the SA binder, and the interactions between Cu‐DHBQ and SA is conducted using scanning electron microscope (SEM), peel tests, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), respectively. Additionally, the electrochemical reaction mechanisms of Cu‐DHBQ are examined using ex situ X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and FTIR. These findings offer valuable insights into understanding the electrochemical properties of coordination polymers and metal‐organic frameworks based on DHBQ, shedding light on their potential as materials for battery electrodes. In this paper, a new three-dimensional network coordination polymer {[Co(TPTC)(HBPDPE)2·2H2O]·3H2O}n [[[(1:1′:4′,1″-terphenyl)-3,3″,5,5″-tetracarboxylic cobalt (II)] dipyridine dihydrate] trihydrate] (Complex 1) was generated under solvothermal synthesis by rigid conjugated ligand H4TPTC ([1:1′:4′,1″-terphengl]-3,3″,5,5″-tetracarboxylic), V-shaped BPDPE (4,4′-bis (pyridyl) diphenyl ether) and Co(II) ion. In complex 1, the neighboring Co(II) ions are linked by deprotonated TPTC4- to achieve a 1D zigzag chain [Co(TPTC)(HBPDPE)2]n, then the adjacent [Co(TPTC)(HBPDPE)2]n chains linked each other by various H-bondings to extend the structure from 1D chain to 3D network. Complex 1 has excellent fluorescence sensing performance and exhibits high sensitivity and selectivity for detecting 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP), the quenching constant Ksv is up to 2.08 × 105 M−1 along with the correlation coefficient R2 of 0.993. Furthermore, the quench mechanisms of this Co-MOF as a sensor to detect nitro- aromatic explosives were studied as well. In this paper, carbon-matrix-supported copper (Cu) and cobaltous oxide (CoO) nanoparticles were obtained by using coordination polymers (CPs) as a precursor. The aqueous solutions of copper methacrylate (CuMA) and cobalt methacrylate (CoMA) were preferentially prepared, which were then mixed with anhydrous ethanol to fabricate dual metal ion coordination polymers (CuMA/CoMA). After calcination under an argon atmosphere, the Cu-CoO/C nanocomposite was obtained. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) showed that the material has banded morphology, and the dual functional nanoparticles were highly dispersed in the carbon matrix. The prepared material was used in a heterogeneous Fenton-like reaction, with the aim of replacing traditional ferric catalysts to solve pH constraints and the mass production of ferric slime. The obtained nanocomposite showed excellent catalytic performance on the degradation of methylene blue (MB) at near-neutral conditions; the discoloration efficiency is about 98.5% within 50 min in the presence of 0.15 mmol/mL H2O2 and 0.5 mg/mL catalyst. The key to obtain supercapacitors with high energy density is rational design and synthesis of negative electrode materials. Herein, a new type of polyoxometalate‐based coordination polymer was prepared by one‐step hydrothermal method. Polymer 1 with honeycomb two‐dimensional network structure is beneficial to improve electrical conductivity and storage capacity because of its π‐π stacking interaction. Ti3C2Tx, an MXene material with excellent electrical conductivity, was mixed with compound 1, which has rich redox reactions. As expected, 1@Ti3C2Tx exhibited outstanding specific capacitance (768.7 F g−1 at 8 A g−1), which is superior to many materials. In addition, the hybrid material also showed good cycle stability (88.1 % capacity retention after 1000 cycles). This work provides an effective way to develop hybrid electrode materials based on polyoxometalate‐based coordination polymers as supercapacitors. In addition, using 1@Ti3C2Tx as the negative electrode material and celery leaf carbon paper as the positive electrode material, the asymmetric supercapacitor device is fabricated. The title complexes were characterized by IR spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 is a 1D ladder-like structure. Complex 2 is a 3D NaCl type framework. Complexes 3 and 4 are 63 and 44 connected 2D structures. The different structural details of the title complexes directed by caroxylates and the central metals were compared. The complexes 1 – 4 can be used as excellent fluorescent sensors toward nitrophenol (NOP) and nitroaniline (NA) with a low limit of detection and a high quenching constant, and have good anti-interference and recyclable characteristics. The feasibility of actual sample detection was verified by tap water, river water and wastewater samples. The abnormal concentration of anthrax spore biomarker 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid (2,6-DPA) will seriously affect public health. Therefore, a sensitive and rapid assay for 2,6-DPA monitoring is of vital importance. In this work, novel nano-sized amorphous Eu-NH 2 BDC (amEu-NH 2 BDC) and amorphous Tb-NH 2 BDC (amTb-NH 2 BDC) metal organic frameworks are prepared by adjusting the ratio of metal and ligand, respectively. Both of them exhibit highly sensitive and selective ratiometric fluorescence detection for 2,6-DPA with wider linear range and lower detection limit in aqueous solutions and human serum. Attributed to the coordination effect of 2,6-DPA in triggering the characteristic fluorescence emissions of Eu3+or Tb3+ by replacing coordinated solvent molecules, as evidenced by ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy, the fluorescence lifetimes analysis, thermal gravimetric analysis, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, density functional theory (DFT) simulations and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Urease inhibitors (UIs) can improve soil nutrients, reduce soil nitrogen loss, increase nitrate nitrogen content, and help soil maintain nutrients. Because the already available inhibitors were harmful and inefficient, it was critical to develop and manufacture a new family of UIs with high efficiency. In this paper, two copper-based coordination polymers (Cu-CPs) were prepared and served as UIs, which showed that the Cu-CPs had good inhibitory effects on urease and the inhibitory rates were 0.83 ± 0.01 μM and 4.22 ± 0.51 μM. The kinetics of the UIs were determined that the Cu-CPs were anti-competitive inhibition modes with corresponding dissociation constants K i of 1.52 μM and 5.32 μM. The results of molecular docking show that the two series of active compounds have obvious binding effect on the active site of urease. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been widely used in filed of electrochemistry. Compared with traditional inorganic porous materials, the polyvalent pyridinecarboxylic acid ligands have many advantages which contains more active sites, flexible coordination mode, adjustable structure. Therefore, it becomes good choice for constructing MOFs materials with excellent performance. In this paper, a novel MOF was synthesized by pyridine polycarboxylic acid ligand and CoCl 2 ·6H 2 O using solvothermal method. The physicochemical properties were characterized by FT-IR, powder diffraction and thermogravimetry. Single crystal X-ray diffraction reveal that MOF-1 crystallizes in monoclinic system with P 2 1 / C space group. The central Co2+ ions have a dual core structure with 5 and 6 coordination, respectively. The carboxyl groups show two kinds of coordination modes μ 2 : η1: η1 and μ 2 : η1: η2, and the pyridine N atoms also coordinate to form a three-dimensional network structure. Electrochemical experiments show that MOF-1 has a lower overpotential (339.4 mV) and Tafel slope (65.3 mV·dec−1) with higher ECSA and better OER kinetics. A large number of exposed active sites indicate that the MOF has higher potential as catalyst for oxygen evolution reaction. The paper considers the effect of the modifier (nitric and sulfuric acids) on the physicochemical properties of aluminum oxide as a component (carrier) of cracking catalysts. The modifier was introduced during pre-treatment of the thermochemical activation product of gibbsite (TCA product). The article describes the influence of the amount of acids introduced during the TCA product pre-treatment stages (hydration and hydrothermal treatment (HTT)) on the acidic and textural properties of the resulting product. The activity of the obtained aluminum oxide samples during catalytic cracking of n-hexadecane, a model feedstock, was evaluated. All obtained samples were compared with aluminum oxide produced by the sulfate redeposition method. Based on the Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) and dynamic quenching detection mechanism, the emission spectrum of Cu-phen-PEDA overlaps with the absorption spectrum of riboflavin. As an energy donor in this case, Cu-phen-PEDA significantly increases the fluorescence intensity of riboflavin (energy acceptor), while simultaneously decreasing its own fluorescence intensity, which is an effective proportional-building strategy. In the lower concentration range, riboflavin can be specifically recognized by ratiometric fluorescence with a good linear relationship, and the detection limit is as low as 23 nM. Luminescent coordination polymers (LCPs) have garnered significant attention from researchers as promising materials for detecting contaminants. In this paper, three new LCPs ([Zn(tib)(opda)] n ⋅H 2 O (1), [Zn 3 (tib) 2 (mpda) 3 ] n ⋅5H 2 O (2), [Zn (tib)(ppda)] n ⋅H 2 O (3)) with different structures (LCP 1 – 3 : 1D, 2D, 1D) using phenylenediacetic acid isomers and 1,3,5-tris (1-imidazolyl) benzene (tib) are synthesized. The specific surface areas (BET) of LCP 1 – 3 are 4 m2/g, 19 m2/g, and 13 m2/g respectively. LCP 1 – 3 exhibit excellent fluorescence properties and can serve as fluorescent probe for the detection of inorganic contaminants and organic contaminants. Due to the large BET of LCP 2 , the detection limits for trace analytes surpass those of LCP 1 and 3. The detection limits of LCP 2 for Fe3+, nitrobenzene (NB), chloramphenicol (CAP), and pyrimethanil (PTH) are 8.3 nM, 0.016 μM, 0.19 μM, and 0.032 μM, respectively, and the fluorescence quenching rates are 98.6 %, 98.8 %, 92.3 %, and 98.8 %, respectively. These values outperform most reported in the literature. The quantum yields of LCP 1 – 3 are 11.84 %, 25.22 %, 22.00 % respectively. Real sample testing of LCP 1 – 3 reveals favorable performance, where spiked recoveries of LCP 2 for the detection of pyrimethanil in grape skins ranged from 99.62 % to 119.3 % with a relative standard deviation (RSD) of 0.627 % to 4.56 % (n = 3). The fluorescence quenching mechanism was attributed to a combination of photoelectron transfer (PET), resonance energy transfer (RET), and competitive absorption (CA). Urease may rapidly hydrolyze urea, causing a significant amount of ammonia to be released and decreasing the efficacy of urea fertilizers. However, urease inhibitors (UIs) can inhibit the interaction between urease and urea so that ammonium nitrogen can be absorbed by crops for a long time. In this paper, we developed and fabricated two Cu-based coordination polymers (Cu-CPs) to function as UIs by combining two aromatic carboxylic acids and a bis-pyridine-bis-amide ligand, which demonstrate outstanding urease inhibitory efficacy. Cu-CP-1 exhibits a pronounced inhibitory effect on the inhibitory activity of jack bean urease while the semi-inhibitory concentration (IC 50) value was 0.74 ± 0.01 μM, whereas the IC 50 value of Cu-CP-2 was 4.77 ± 0.51 μM. Furthermore, inhibitory activity against urease, kinetic, molecular docking, and comparisons of the title Cu-CPs and other complex-based materials have been comprehensively investigated. More importantly, the oxygen atoms of μ 2 -OH and –COO play important roles in urease inhibition activity. The structure–function relationship were further discussed which indicates that Cu-CPs can be used as a kind of UIs. • The pyridine polymers with cationic skeleton were obtained utilizing conjugation ring. • The cationic framework of pyridine polymers endows them with Au(III) selectivity. • The single point contact improved the pyridine polymer adsorption capacity for gold. • The cationic pyridine polymers perform well in practical solutions with significantly varying ionic concentrations. Recovering gold from rich waste printed circuit boards (WPCBs) resource are of great significance to gold development and utilization. In this paper, cationic pyridine polymers with different configurations were designed and synthesised for highly selective and efficient recovery of gold from a WPCB leaching solution. The structures and performances of the cationic pyridine polymers were analysed using a 4–aminopyridine polychloromethylstyrene (4–AP/PCMS). The results indicate that the 4–AP/PCMS performed well in an acidic environment, including in the 5 % aqua regia solution. Gold adsorption on the 4–AP/PCMS followed pseudo–second–order kinetics and Langmuir isotherm models, suggesting that chemisorption occurred via a single–layer mechanism with a maximum loading capacity of 437.68 mg/g. Further, Au(III) adsorption on the 4–AP/PCMS involved electrostatic interactions and reduction between pyridine and AuCl 4 −. After five adsorption–desorption cycles, the adsorption rate remained above 99 %, whereas in actual leaching solutions it reached 92.24 %. All five pyridine polymers demonstrated outstanding Au(III) selectivity over binary and multicomponent solutions containing Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Zn(II), Fe(III), Cd(II), and Mg(II), benefitting from the cationic pyridine skeleton. Contact patterns between the cationic pyridine polymers and AuCl 4 − considerably affected the gold loading capacity, and a single–point contact was found to be favourable for gold adsorption. To search for more high-performance crystalline proton conducting materials and to accelerate the related research progress, in this paper, a one-dimensional coordination polymer (CP), [Co(BBOT) 2 (H 2 O) 3 ·2H 2 O] n (1) (H 2 BBOT = N-benzoyl-N′-(4-benzoxy)thiourea) was firstly prepared by solvent volatilization approach. Subsequently, the thermal, H 2 O and chemical stabilities of the CP were tested and its high structural stability was confirmed. Furthermore, in 1 , a stable solid three-dimensional framework can be constructed by intermolecular H-bonds and stacking interactions between phenyl units. Then, utilizing the AC impedance determination, the dependence of the proton conductivity of this CP on temperature and humidity in the water vapor environment was explored and the positive correlation was verified. Excitingly, the optimized proton conductivity of this compound under specific test conditions (100 °C/98 % relative humidity) can be as high as 10−4 S/cm, being in the forefront of similar crystalline solid materials. Finally, according to the value of activation energy and the characteristics of crystal structure, we speculate on the proton conduction mechanism. Proton conductivity of a CP under variable humidity and temperatures was explored. Its highest proton conductivity can attain up to 10−4 S/cm, and its proton-conduction mechanism was speculated. Recirculation of hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) process water (PW) has been revealed as an effective strategy to promote the recovery of lost dissolved organics in the spent solvent. However, the role of operating parameters such as temperature, time and solid load during recirculation needs to be clarified and better investigated in order to achieve a successful PW valorization. In this paper, the effects of different reaction conditions during HTC with PW recirculation were studied by using orange peel waste as feedstock. The results showed that strong synergistic interactions occurred between the biomass and the recycled solvent, leading to a hydrochar mass yield increase between 0.5 and 11 wt% on a dry basis (d.b.), according to the reaction conditions. PW recirculation, especially at low conversion severity and solid load, increased hydrochar carbon content while drastically reduced the oxygen fraction. The reason was probably related to promoted dehydration and decarboxylation. As result, carbon and energy yields were respectively increased by 26.1 % and 27.0 %, on average. The energy balance outcomes showed that the energy recovery rose up to 8 times by recycling PW compared to phases with deionized water as HTC solvent. This paper provides a new avenue for the development of cellular structures. By mimicking the chemical structural formula of the TpPB-Fe coordination polymer, a new self-similar hierarchical honeycomb was proposed. With respect to the existing self-similar hierarchical honeycomb in the literature which was constructed by replacing every three-edge vertex of the regular hexagonal honeycomb with a smaller hexagon, the new one is created by setting the fractal position at the midpoint of the cell walls of the regular hexagonal honeycomb. What I am really curious about is the difference in mechanical properties between the two self-similar hierarchical honeycombs. Finite element (FE) model was first built and validated by comparing against the existing theoretical data. Subsequently, the in-plane crushing behaviors of the honeycombs under different impact velocities were fully investigated by FE simulations. The deformation modes, plateau stress as well as the energy absorption capability of the honeycombs were studied. Different macroscopic and microscopic deformation patterns between the two hierarchical honeycombs were observed. The plateau stress of the new hierarchical honeycomb is higher than that of both the existing counterpart and the basic regular hexagonal one. Under low- and medium-velocity impact loading, the new honeycomb with low fractal ratio (α) has superior energy absorption capability with respect to the existing counterpart and the basic regular hexagonal one. The single crystal structure of the complex was analyzed by X-ray single crystal diffraction, indicating that complex 1 was stacked into a 3D crystal structure through intermolecular π···π and C-H···π weak interaction. The complex was characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, PXRD and TGA. Additionally, fluorescence experiments showed that complex 1 could be used as a fluorescent probe for detecting Fe(III), Cr(VI), and Metronidazole (MDZ), Ornidazole (ODZ), Dimetridazole (DTZ) in aqueous solutions. Detection limits were obtained for ions (3.2×10−7 M for Cr 2 O 7 2−, 5.4×10−7 M for CrO 4 2− and 3.6 × 10−7 M for Fe3+) and nitroimidazole antibiotics (1.3×10−7 M for MDZ, 9.7×10−8 M for ODZ and 4.4×10−8 M for DTZ). The possible fluorescence quenching mechanism has been studied in the paper. Co(II) based coordination polymer nanoparticles (Co-CP NPs) constructed by using hand grinding process stimulates the nanozymatic action due to increased surface area and exposure of catalytically active sites. The fabricated Co-CP NPs were characterized using various sophisticated analytical techniques such as SCXRD, HRTEM, FESEM, PXRD etc. The NPs thus formed were about 27 nm in size and pertain porous sites. The Co-CP NPs exhibited peroxido-reductase mimicking activity for TMB(3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine) oxidation. The catalytic action of the Co-CP NPs was utilized to detect Fe(II) ion selectively with a detection limit of 0.66 µM. The kinetics for the study were described using Michaelis-Menten curve. The K m and V max values for H 2 O 2 and Co-CP NPs were analyzed further to access the catalytic action of Co-CP NPs. XPS and zeta potential analysis were evidenced to elucidate the detection mechanism. The compatibility and practicality of the present method was also assured by actual water samples from different sources that showed good recovery percentage. [Display omitted] • The iron-based catalyst Fe-N/O@C with Fe-N 2 O 2 coordination was prepared by a simple pyrolysis process. • The Fe-N/O@C + PMS system achieves the degradation of BPA primarily through non-radical pathways dominated by 1O 2 and high-valent iron species. • The doping of O causes a change in the charge distribution of Fe-N. • DFT calculations were used for further analysis to understand the reasons behind the differences in the degradation pathways of Fe-N/O@C and Fe-N@C. Iron-nitrogen co-doped carbon materials as heterogeneous catalysts have attracted much attention in advanced oxidation processes involving peroxymonosulfate (PMS) due to their unique structure and enormous catalytic potential. However, there is limited research on the influence of different coordination structures on the central iron atoms. Through simple pyrolysis, we introduced oxygen atoms into the Fe-N coordination structure, constructing Fe-N/O@C catalysts with Fe-N 2 O 2 coordination structure, and achieved efficient degradation of bisphenol A (BPA). Quenching experiments, electron paramagnetic resonance, and electrochemical analysis indicate that compared to the free radical activation pathway of Fe-N@C, high-valent iron-oxo species (≡Fe(Ⅳ) = O) are the main reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the Fe-N/O@C/PMS system. Meanwhile, we compared the differences in the oxidation states of Fe atoms and electron density in different coordination structures, revealing the formation of high-valent iron-oxo species and the mechanism of interfacial electron transfer. Therefore, this study provides new insights into the design and development of Fe-N co-doped catalysts for resource-efficient and environmentally friendly catalytic oxidation systems.
