Single-frame infrared small target detection is affected by the low image resolution and small target size, and is prone to the problems of small target feature loss and positional offset during continuous downsampling; at the same time, the sparse features of the small targets do not correlate well with the global-local linkage of the background features. To solve the above problems, this paper proposes an efficient infrared small target detection method. First, this paper incorporates BlurPool in the feature extraction part, which reduces the loss and positional offset of small target features in the process of convolution and pooling. Second, this paper designs an interactive attention deep feature fusion module, which acquires the correlation information between the target and the background from a global perspective, and designs a compression mechanism based on deep a priori knowledge, which reduces the computational difficulty of the self-attention mechanism. Then, this paper designs the context local feature enhancement and fusion module, which uses deep semantic features to dynamically guide shallow local features to realize enhancement and fusion. Finally, this paper proposes an edge feature extraction module for shallow features, which utilizes the complete texture and location information in the shallow features to assist the network to initially locate the target position and edge shape. The Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Location-Based Service is receiving more and more attention due to its high ranging accuracy and good time resolution. However, the None-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) propagation may reduce the ranging accuracy for UWB localization system in indoor environment. So it is important to identify LOS and NLOS propagations before taking proper measures to improve the UWB localization accuracy. In this paper, a deep learning-based UWB NLOS/LOS classification algorithm called FCN-Attention is proposed. The proposed FCN-Attention algorithm utilizes a Fully Convolution Network (FCN) for improving feature extraction ability and a self-attention mechanism for enhancing feature description from the data to improve the classification accuracy. The proposed algorithm is evaluated using an open-source dataset, a local collected dataset and a mixed dataset created from these two datasets. The experiment result shows that the proposed FCN-Attention algorithm achieves classification accuracy of 88.24% on the open-source dataset, 100% on the local collected dataset and 92.01% on the mixed dataset, which is better than the results from other evaluated NLOS/LOS classification algorithms in most scenarios in this paper. Defect detection constitutes one of the most crucial processes in industrial production. With a continuous increase in the number of defect categories and samples, the defect detection model underpinned by deep learning finds it challenging to expand to new categories, and the accuracy and real-time performance of product defect detection are also confronted with severe challenges. This paper addresses the problem of insufficient detection accuracy of existing lightweight models on resource-constrained edge devices by presenting a new lightweight YoloV5 model, which integrates four modules, SCDown, GhostConv, RepNCSPELAN4, and ScalSeq. Here, this paper abbreviates it as SGRS-YoloV5n. Through the incorporation of these modules, the model notably enhances feature extraction and computational efficiency while reducing the model size and computational load, making it more conducive for deployment on edge devices. Furthermore, a cloud-edge collaborative defect detection system is constructed to improve detection accuracy and efficiency through initial detection by edge devices, followed by additional inspection by cloud servers. An incremental learning mechanism is also introduced, enabling the model to adapt promptly to new defect categories and update its parameters accordingly. Experimental results reveal that the SGRS-YoloV5n model exhibits superior detection accuracy and real-time performance, validating its value and stability for deployment in resource-constrained environments. Manuscript binarization is used to convert each pixel in the script image into text and background. Many manuscript binarization methods have been proposed, such as the Otsu, Bernsen, Sauvola, Niblack, Phansalkar and Singh methods. These methods only focus on one problem of a degraded manuscript. In this research, a deep learning approach based on the U-Net method is applied for binarization of degraded ancient manuscripts. Adding layers to the U-Net architecture can cause more parameters and excessive computational calculations. Residual U-Net (ResUNet) is a development of the U-Net method. ResUNet, with its residual blocks, enables efficient and effective feature extraction, capturing fine details of degraded documents. This is important for identifying and distinguishing text from various artifacts and noise in the document. ResUNet can handle various types of image degradation thanks to its residual blocks that prevent gradient loss and strengthen features over the network. Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory (ConvLSTM) is a variant of LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory) designed for spatial data such as images. ConvLSTM combines the ability of LSTM to learn long-term dependencies with the power of CNN in processing spatial data. The combination of ResUNet and ConvLSTM for binarization of degraded documents is a powerful strategy that leverages the power of both architectures to improve quality and accuracy in separating text from degraded background. The aim of this research is to determine the performance evaluation results of the combination of ResUNet and ConvLSTM architectures on the binarization of degraded ancient Javanese manuscripts. The trial was conducted using datasets taken from several museums. The dataset consists of 1200 images of Javanese ancient manuscripts that were damaged in the form of perforated paper, ink bleed through from the previous page, and red or brownish spots. Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) attacks are causing a lot of damage to critical organizations and institutions. Therefore, early detection and warning of APT attack campaigns are very necessary today. In this paper, we propose a new approach for APT attack detection based on the combination of Feature Intelligent Extraction (FIE) and Representation Learning (RL) techniques. In particular, the proposed FIE technique is a combination of the Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM) deep learning network and the Attention network. The FIE combined model has the function of aggregating and extracting unusual behaviors of APT IPs in network traffic. The RL method proposed in this study aims to optimize classifying APT IPs and normal IPs based on two main techniques: rebalancing data and contrastive learning. Specifically, the rebalancing data method supports the training process by rebalancing the experimental dataset. And the contrastive learning method learns APT IP's important features based on finding and pulling similar features together as well as pushing contrasting data points away. In this paper, a method based on transfer learning is proposed to recover the three-dimensional shape of cultural relics faces from a single old photo. It can simultaneously reconstruct the three-dimensional facial structure and align the texture of the cultural relics with fewer training samples. The UV position map is used to represent the three-dimensional shape in space and act as the output of the network. A convolutional neural network is used to reconstruct the UV position map from a single 2D image. In the training process, the human face data is used for pre-training, and then a small amount of artifact data is used for fine-tuning. A deep learning model with strong generalization ability is trained with fewer artifact data, and a three-dimensional model of the cultural relic face can be reconstructed from a single old photograph. The methods can train more complex deep networks without a large amount of cultural relic data, and no over-fitting phenomenon occurs, which effectively solves the problem of fewer cultural relic samples. The method is verified by restoring a Chinese Terracotta Warrior with facial cracks and a Buddha with a broken nose. Other applications can be used in the fields such as texture recovery, facial feature extraction, and three-dimensional model estimation of the damaged cultural relics or sculptures in the photos. Because of the difficulty in fault detection for and diagnosing the adjustment hydraulic servomotor, this paper uses feature extraction technology to extract the time domain and frequency domain features of the pressure signal of the adjustment hydraulic servomotor and splice the features of multiple pressure signals through the Multi-source Information Fusion (MSIF) method. The comprehensive expression of device status information is obtained. After that, this paper proposes a fault detection Algorithm GA-SVDD-neg, which uses Genetic Algorithm (GA) to optimize Support Vector Data Description with negative examples (SVDD-neg). Through joint optimization with the Mutual Information (MI) feature selection algorithm, the features that are most sensitive to the state deterioration of the adjustment hydraulic servomotor are selected. Experiments show that the MI algorithm has a better performance than other feature dimensionality reduction algorithms in the field of the abnormal detection of adjustment hydraulic servomotors, and the GA-SVDD-neg algorithm has a stronger robustness and generality than other anomaly detection algorithms. In addition, to make full use of the advantages of deep learning in automatic feature extraction and classification, this paper realizes the fault diagnosis of the adjustment hydraulic servomotor based on 1D Convolutional Neural Network (1DCNN). The experimental results show that this algorithm has the same superior performance as the traditional algorithm in feature extraction and can accurately diagnose the known faults of the adjustment hydraulic servomotor. The fire heat release rate (HRR) is a crucial parameter for describing the combustion process and its thermal effects. In recent years, some studies have employed fire scene images and deep learning algorithms to predict real-time fire HRR, which has led to the advancement of HRR prediction in terms of both lightweightness and real-time monitoring. Nevertheless, the development of an early-stage monitoring system for fires and the ability to predict future HRR based on current moment data represents a crucial foundation for evaluating the scale of indoor fires and enhancing the capacity to prevent and control such incidents. This paper proposes a deep learning model based on continuous fire scene images (containing both flame and smoke features) and their time-series information to predict the future transient fire HRR. The model (Att-BiLSTM) comprises three bi-directional long- and short-term memory (Bi-LSTM) layers and one attention layer. The model employs a bidirectional feature extraction approach, followed by the introduction of an attention mechanism to highlight the image features that have a critical impact on the prediction results. In this paper, a large-scale dataset is constructed by collecting 27,231 fire scene images with instantaneous HRR annotations from 40 different fire trials from the NIST database. The experimental results demonstrate that Att-BiLSTM is capable of effectively utilizing fire scene image features and temporal information to accurately predict future transient HRR, including those in high-brightness fire environments and complex fire source situations. Target detection algorithms can greatly improve the efficiency of tomato leaf disease detection and play an important technical role in intelligent tomato cultivation. However, there are some challenges in the detection process, such as the diversity of complex backgrounds and the loss of leaf symmetry due to leaf shadowing, and existing disease detection methods have some disadvantages in terms of deteriorating generalization ability and insufficient accuracy. Aiming at the above issues, a target detection model for tomato leaf disease based on deep learning with a global attention mechanism, TDGA, is proposed in this paper. The main idea of TDGA includes three aspects. Firstly, TDGA adds a global attention mechanism (GAM) after up-sampling and down-sampling, as well as in the SPPF module, to improve the feature extraction ability of the target object, effectively reducing the interference of invalid targets. Secondly, TDGA uses a switchable atrous convolution (SAConv) in the C3 module to improve the model's ability to detect. Thirdly, TDGA adopts the efficient IoU loss (EIoU) instead of complete IoU loss (CIoU) to solve the ambiguous definition of aspect ratio and sample imbalance. In addition, the influences of different environmental factors such as single leaf, multiple leaves, and shadows on the performance of tomato disease detection are extensively experimented with and analyzed in this paper, which also verified the robustness of TDGA. The experimental results show that the average accuracy of TDGA reaches 91.40%, which is 2.93% higher than that of the original YOLOv5 network, which is higher than YOLOv5, YOLOv7, YOLOHC, YOLOv8, SSD, Faster R-CNN, RetinaNet and other target detection networks, so that TDGA can be utilized for the detection of tomato leaf disease more efficiently and accurately, even in complex environments. Malicious encrypted traffic detection is a critical component of network security management. Previous detection methods can be categorized into two classes as follows: one is to use the feature engineering method to construct traffic features for classification and the other is to use the end‐to‐end method that directly inputs the original traffic to obtain traffic features for classification. Both of the abovementioned two methods have the problem that the obtained features cannot fully characterize the traffic. To this end, this paper proposes a hierarchical multimodal deep learning model (HMMED) for malicious encrypted traffic detection. This model adopts the abovementioned two feature generation methods to learn the features of payload and header, respectively, then fuses the features to get the final traffic features, and finally inputs the final traffic features into the softmax classifier for classification. In addition, since traditional deep learning is highly dependent on the training set size and data distribution, resulting in a model that is not very generalizable and difficult to adapt to unseen encrypted traffic, the model proposed in this paper uses a large amount of unlabeled encrypted traffic in the pretraining layer to pretrain a submodel used to obtain a generic packet payload representation. The test results on the USTC‐TFC2016 dataset show that the proposed model can effectively solve the problem of insufficient feature extraction of traditional detection methods and improve the ACC of malicious encrypted traffic detection. The model network based on YOLOv8 for detecting race cones and buckets in the Formula Unmanned Competition for Chinese university students needs help with problems with complex structure, redundant number of parameters, and computation, significantly affecting detection efficiency. A lightweight detection model based on YOLOv8 is proposed to address these problems. The model includes improving the backbone network, neck network, and detection head, as well as introducing knowledge distillation and other techniques to construct a lightweight model. The specific improvements are as follows: firstly, the backbone network for extracting features is improved by introducing the ADown module in YOLOv9 to replace the convolution module used for downsampling in the YOLOv8 network, and secondly, the FasterBlock in FasterNet network was introduced to replace the fusion module in YOLOv8 C2f, and then the self-developed lightweight detection head was introduced to improve the detection performance while achieving lightweight. Finally, the detection performance was further improved by knowledge distillation. The experimental results on the public dataset FSACOCO show that the improved model's accuracy, recall, and average precision are 92.7%, 84.6%, and 91%, respectively. Compared with the original YOLOv8n detection model, the recall and average precision increase by 2.7 and 1.2 percentage points, the memory is half the original, and the model computation is 51%. The model significantly reduces the misdetection and leakage of conical buckets in real-vehicle tests and, at the same time, ensures the detection speed to satisfy the deployment requirements on tiny devices. Satisfies all the requirements for deployment of tiny devices in the race car of the China University Student Driverless Formula Competition. In order to address the challenge of the small-scale, small-target, and complex scenes often encountered in offshore remote sensing image datasets, this paper employs an interpolation method to achieve super-resolution-assisted target detection. This approach aligns with the logic of popular GANs and generative diffusion networks in terms of super-resolution but is more lightweight. Additionally, the image count is expanded fivefold by supplementing the dataset with DOTA and data augmentation techniques. Framework-wise, based on the Faster R-CNN model, the combination of a residual backbone network and pyramid balancing structure enables our model to adapt to the characteristics of small-target scenarios. Moreover, the attention mechanism, random anchor re-selection strategy, and the strategy of replacing quantization operations with bilinear interpolation further enhance the model's detection capability at a low cost. Ablation experiments and comparative experiments show that, with a simple backbone, the algorithm in this paper achieves a mAP of 71.2% on the dataset, an improvement in accuracy of about 10% compared to the Faster R-CNN algorithm. With the development of image feature matching technology, feature matching algorithms based on deep learning have achieved excellent results, but in scenarios with low texture or extreme perspective changes, the matching accuracy is still difficult to guarantee. In this paper, a superresolution reconstruction method based on a Residual-ESPCN (efficient subpixel convolutional neural network) approach is proposed based on LoFTR (local feature matching with transformers). The superresolution method is used to improve the interpolation method used in ASFF (adaptive spatial feature fusion) to increase the image resolution, enhance the detailed information of the image, and make the extracted features richer. Then, ASFF is introduced into the local feature extraction module of LoFTR, which can alleviate the inconsistency problem of information transmission between different scale features of the feature pyramid and lessen the amount of information lost during transmission from low- to high-resolution levels. Moreover, to improve the adaptability of the algorithm to different scenarios, OTSU is introduced to adaptively calculate the threshold of feature matching. The experimental results show that in different indoor or outdoor scenarios, our proposed algorithm for matching features can effectively improve the adaptability of feature matching and can achieve good results in terms of the area under the curve (AUC), accuracy and recall. Many government institutions in developing countries such as the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) keep a variety of paper-based records that are available in printed or handwritten format. The need for technology that turns handwritten writing into digital text is therefore highly demanded. E-government in developed and developing countries is a crucial facilitator for the provision of such services. This paper aims to develop a deep learning model based on the mask region convolutional neural network (mask-RCNN) to effectively digitize kurdish handwritten text recognition (KHTR). In this research, typical datasets, which includes the isolated handwritten Central Kurdish character images, an extensive database of 40,410 images, and 390 native writers have been produced to determine the developed approach's performance in terms of identification rates. This approach achieves adequate outcomes in terms of training time and accuracy. The proposed model gives higher performance for detection, localization, and recognition when using a dataset containing many challenges, the results were 80%, 96%, and 87.6 for precision, recall, and F-score respectively. Focusing on the problem of identifying and classifying aero-engine models, this paper measures the infrared spectrum data of aero-engine hot jets using a telemetry Fourier transform infrared spectrometer. Simultaneously, infrared spectral data sets with the six different types of aero-engines were created. For the purpose of classifying and identifying infrared spectral data, a CNN architecture based on the continuous wavelet transform peak-seeking attention mechanism (CWT-AM-CNN) is suggested. This method calculates the peak value of middle wave band by continuous wavelet transform, and the peak data are extracted by the statistics of the wave number locations with high frequency. The attention mechanism was used for the peak data, and the attention mechanism was weighted to the feature map of the feature extraction block. The training set, validation set and prediction set were divided in the ratio of 8:1:1 for the infrared spectral data sets. For three different data sets, the CWT-AM-CNN proposed in this paper was compared with the classical classifier algorithm based on CO2 feature vector and the popular AE, RNN and LSTM spectral processing networks. The prediction accuracy of the proposed algorithm in the three data sets was as high as 97%, and the lightweight network structure design not only guarantees high precision, but also has a fast running speed, which can realize the rapid and high-precision classification of the infrared spectral data of the aero-engine hot jets. Distracted driving is one of the major factors leading drivers to ignore potential road hazards. In response to the challenges of high computational complexity, limited generalization capacity, and suboptimal detection accuracy in existing deep learning-based detection algorithms, this paper introduces a novel approach called StarDL-YOLO (StarNet-detectlscd-yolo), which leverages an enhanced version of YOLOv8n. Initially, the StarNet integrated into the backbone of YOLOv8n significantly improves the feature extraction capability of the model with remarkable reduction in computational complexity. Subsequently, the Star Block is incorporated into the neck network, forming a C2f-Star module that offers lower computational cost. Additionally, shared convolution is introduced in the detection head to further reduce computational burden and parameter size. Finally, the Wise-Focaler-MPDIoU loss function is proposed to strengthen detection accuracy. The experimental results demonstrate that StarDL-YOLO significantly improves the efficiency of the distracted driving behavior detection, achieving an accuracy of 99.6% on the StateFarm dataset. Moreover, the parameter count of the model is minimized by 56.4%, and its computational load is decreased by 45.1%. Additionally, generalization experiments are performed on the 100-Driver dataset, revealing that the proposed scheme enhances generalization effectiveness compared to YOLOv8n. The maturity grading of walnuts during harvesting relies on experience. In this paper, walnut images in a natural environment were collected to construct a dataset, and deep learning algorithms were utilized to combine walnut internal physical and chemical indicators to carry out research on walnut maturity detection methods and further research on walnut oil content prediction by combining walnut images with walnut oil content indicators. The main contents of this paper include collecting walnut images in a natural environment, constructing datasets, and using deep learning algorithms combined with internal physical and chemical indexes of walnuts to study walnut maturity detection and oil content prediction methods. First, two walnut image acquisition schemes were designed, and a total of 9504 images were collected from 23 August to 21 September 2021. The dataset was expanded to 18,504 images through data preprocessing and image enhancement. A self-supervised Gaussian attention network (GATCluster) walnut ripeness detection method based on image clustering is proposed to develop ripeness criteria through unsupervised clustering, and the accuracy of the criteria is verified by analysis of variance (ANOVA). The maturity detection accuracy of the test set of 1500 images is 88.33%. Secondly, a walnut oil content prediction method based on improved ResNet34 is proposed. The feature extraction capability is improved by introducing the Squeeze-and-Excitation Networks (SENet) channel attention mechanism and the convolutional self-attention module. The prediction results on 50 images show that the root mean square error, average absolute percentage error, and regression coefficient are 2.96, 0.103, and 0.8822, respectively. High-quality agricultural multi-view stereo reconstruction technology is the key to precision and informatization in agriculture. Multi-view stereo reconstruction methods are an important part of 3D vision technology. In the multi-view stereo 3D reconstruction method based on deep learning, the effect of feature extraction directly affects the accuracy of reconstruction. Aiming at the actual problems in orchard fruit tree reconstruction, this paper designs an improved multi-view stereo structure based on the combination of remote sensing and artificial intelligence to realize the accurate reconstruction of jujube tree trunks. Firstly, an automatic key frame extraction method is proposed for the DSST target tracking algorithm to quickly recognize and extract high-quality data. Secondly, a composite U-Net feature extraction network is designed to enhance the reconstruction accuracy, while the DRE-Net feature extraction enhancement network improved by the parallel self-attention mechanism enhances the reconstruction completeness. Comparison tests show different levels of improvement on the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) dataset compared to other deep learning-based methods. Ablation test on the self-constructed dataset, the MVSNet + Co U-Net + DRE-Net_SA method proposed in this paper improves 20.4% in Accuracy, 12.8% in Completion, and 16.8% in Overall compared to the base model, which verifies the real effectiveness of the scheme. Human action recognition based on optical and infrared video data is greatly affected by the environment, and feature extraction in traditional machine learning classification methods is complex; therefore, this paper proposes a method for human action recognition using Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar based on an asymmetric convolutional residual network. First, the radar echo data are analyzed and processed to extract the micro-Doppler time domain spectrograms of different actions. Second, a strategy combining asymmetric convolution and the Mish activation function is adopted in the residual block of the ResNet18 network to address the limitations of linear and nonlinear transformations in the residual block for micro-Doppler spectrum recognition. This approach aims to enhance the network's ability to learn features effectively. Finally, the Improved Convolutional Block Attention Module (ICBAM) is integrated into the residual block to enhance the model's attention and comprehension of input data. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a high accuracy of 98.28% in action recognition and classification within complex scenes, surpassing classic deep learning approaches. With the continuous advancement of the economy and technology, the number of cars continues to increase, and the traffic congestion problem on some key roads is becoming increasingly serious. This paper proposes a new vehicle information feature map (VIFM) method and a multi-branch convolutional neural network (MBCNN) model and applies it to the problem of traffic congestion detection based on camera image data. The aim of this study is to build a deep learning model with traffic images as input and congestion detection results as output. It aims to provide a new method for automatic detection of traffic congestion. The deep learning-based method in this article can effectively utilize the existing massive camera network in the transportation system without requiring too much investment in hardware. This study first uses an object detection model to identify vehicles in images. Then, a method for extracting a VIFM is proposed. Finally, a traffic congestion detection model based on MBCNN is constructed. This paper verifies the application effect of this method in the Chinese City Traffic Image Database (CCTRIB). Compared to other convolutional neural networks, other deep learning models, and baseline models, the method proposed in this paper yields superior results. The method in this article obtained an F1 score of 98.61% and an accuracy of 98.62%. Fruit fly species classification is a fine-grained task as there is a small gap between species. In order to effectively identify and improve the recognition of fruit flies, a fine-grained image-recognition method based on a multi-channel self-attention mechanism was studied and a network framework for fine-grained image recognition based on deep learning was designed in this paper. In this framework, long-term and short-term memory networks are used to extract the underlying features in fruit fly fine-grained images. By inputting the underlying features in the multi-channel self-attention mechanism module, the global and local attention feature maps can be obtained.The weighted attention feature map can also be obtained by multiplying the weight of each channel and the attention feature map. The fine-grained image features of fruit flies were obtained by summing the weighted attention feature map. A softmax classifier was used to process the features and complete the recognition of the fruit fly fine-grained images. Two fine-grained image datasets of fruit flies were applied as experimental objects. Dataset 1 and Dataset 2 contain 11,778 images and 20,580 images from 46 different categories of fruit flies, respectively. The Kappa coefficient was used as the evaluation index to identify fruit fly images with different targets using the method proposed herein. The experimental results showed that, as the number of attention channels increased, the Kappa coefficient gradually increased, suggesting an improvement in the accuracy of fine-grained image recognition. The fine-grained image features extracted by introducing a multi-channel self-attention mechanism exhibited more distinct boundaries with a small amount of overlap, demonstrating strong feature extraction capabilities. When dealing with fine-grained images with either simple or complex backgrounds, the method proposed in this paper has good performance and generalization ability. Scene text detection is an important research field in computer vision, playing a crucial role in various application scenarios. However, existing scene text detection methods often fail to achieve satisfactory results when faced with text instances of different sizes, shapes, and complex backgrounds. To address the challenge of detecting diverse texts in natural scenes, this paper proposes a multi-scale natural scene text detection method based on attention feature extraction and cascaded feature fusion. This method combines global and local attention through an improved attention feature fusion module (DSAF) to capture text features of different scales, enhancing the network's perception of text regions and improving its feature extraction capabilities. Simultaneously, an improved cascaded feature fusion module (PFFM) is used to fully integrate the extracted feature maps, expanding the receptive field of features and enriching the expressive ability of the feature maps. Finally, to address the cascaded feature maps, a lightweight subspace attention module (SAM) is introduced to partition the concatenated feature maps into several sub-space feature maps, facilitating spatial information interaction among features of different scales. In this paper, comparative experiments are conducted on the ICDAR2015, Total-Text, and MSRA-TD500 datasets, and comparisons are made with some existing scene text detection methods. Background: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) emerge in various organisms, ranging from viruses to humans, and play crucial regulatory roles within cells, participating in a variety of biological processes. In numerous prediction methods for miRNA-disease associations, the issue of over-dependence on both similarity measurement data and the association matrix still hasn't been improved. In this paper, a miRNA-Disease association prediction model (called TP-MDA) based on tree path global feature extraction and fully connected artificial neural network (FANN) with multi-head self-attention mechanism is proposed. The TP-MDA model utilizes an association tree structure to represent the data relationships, multi-head self-attention mechanism for extracting feature vectors, and fully connected artificial neural network with 5-fold cross-validation for model training. Results: The experimental results indicate that the TP-MDA model outperforms the other comparative models, AUC is 0.9714. In the case studies of miRNAs associated with colorectal cancer and lung cancer, among the top 15 miRNAs predicted by the model, 12 in colorectal cancer and 15 in lung cancer were validated respectively, the accuracy is as high as 0.9227. Conclusions: The model proposed in this paper can accurately predict the miRNA-disease association, and can serve as a valuable reference for data mining and association prediction in the fields of life sciences, biology, and disease genetics, among others. Due to the characteristics of different forms and small bird droppings-related defects in photovoltaic modules, problems of missing detection, wrong detection, and low detection accuracy often exist in the bird droppings covering the detection of photovoltaic modules. In this paper, a defect identification method based on the improved Coordinate Attention—You Only Look Once (CA-YOLOv5) network is proposed. Firstly, a layer of the Coordinate Attention module is added between the Backbone and Neck network, which takes into account channel and location information to enhance the feature extraction ability of the network model. Secondly, the small target detection layer is added to fuse different feature information from shallow networks and deep networks so as to improve the multi-scale feature detection ability of the network structure and effectively improve the detection effect of small targets. Finally, the experimental results show that, compared with the original algorithm, the proposed improved algorithm based on YOLOv5s has a mean average precision (mAP) value of 92%, an increase of 5.2%, and the model volume is also reduced in different degrees compared with other mainstream algorithms, achieving a good balance between detection accuracy and model volume. The results show that the model has a more accurate detection result for the bird droppings-related defect detection of photovoltaic modules and can provide a reference for the detection of photovoltaic modules in real life. Traditional DeepLabV3+ image semantic segmentation methods face challenges in pitaya orchard environments characterized by multiple interference factors, complex image backgrounds, high computational complexity, and extensive memory consumption. This paper introduces an improved visual navigation path recognition method for pitaya orchards. Initially, DeepLabV3+ utilizes a lightweight MobileNetV2 as its primary feature extraction backbone, which is augmented with a Pyramid Split Attention (PSA) module placed after the Atrous Spatial Pyramid Pooling (ASPP) module. This improvement enhances the spatial feature representation of feature maps, thereby sharpening the segmentation boundaries. Additionally, an Efficient Channel Attention Network (ECANet) mechanism is integrated with the lower-level features of MobileNetV2 to reduce computational complexity and refine the clarity of target boundaries. The paper also designs a navigation path extraction algorithm, which fits the road mask regions segmented by the model to achieve precise navigation path recognition. Experimental findings show that the enhanced DeepLabV3+ model achieved a Mean Intersection over Union (MIoU) and average pixel accuracy of 95.79% and 97.81%, respectively. These figures represent increases of 0.59 and 0.41 percentage points when contrasted with the original model. Furthermore, the model's memory consumption is reduced by 85.64%, 84.70%, and 85.06% when contrasted with the Pyramid Scene Parsing Network (PSPNet), U-Net, and Fully Convolutional Network (FCN) models, respectively. This reduction makes the proposed model more efficient while maintaining high segmentation accuracy, thus supporting enhanced operational efficiency in practical applications. The test results for navigation path recognition accuracy reveal that the angle error between the navigation centerline extracted using the least squares method and the manually fitted centerline is less than 5°. Additionally, the average deviation between the road centerlines extracted under three different lighting conditions and the actual road centerline is only 2.66 pixels, with an average image recognition time of 0.10 s. With the increasing complexity of the grid meter dial, precise feature extraction is becoming more and more difficult. Many automatic recognition solutions have been proposed for grid meter readings. However, traditional inspection methods cannot guarantee detection accuracy in complex environments. So, deep-learning methods are combined with grid meter recognition. Existing recognition systems that utilize segmentation models exhibit very high computation. It is challenging to ensure high real-time performance in edge computing devices. Therefore, an improved meter recognition model based on YOLOv7 is proposed in this paper. Partial convolution (PConv) is introduced into YOLOv7 to create a lighter network. Different PConv introduction locations on the base module have been used in order to find the optimal approach for reducing the parameters and floating point of operations (FLOPs). Meanwhile, the dynamic head (DyHead) module is utilized to enhance the attention mechanism for the YOLOv7 model. It can improve the detection accuracy of striped objects. As a result, this paper achieves mAP 50 v a l of 97.87% and mAP 50 : 90 v a l of 62.4% with only 5.37 M parameters. The improved model's inference speed can reach 108 frames per second (FPS). Current low-light image enhancement techniques prioritize increasing image luminance but fail to address issues including loss of intricate distortion of colors and image details. In order to address these issues that has been overlooked by all parties, this paper suggests a multi-module optimization network for enhancing low-light images by integrating deep learning with Retinex theory. First, we create a decomposition network to separate the lighting components and reflections from the low-light image. We incorporated an enhanced global spatial attention (GSA) module into the decomposition network to boost its flexibility and adaptability. This module enhances the extraction of comprehensive information from the image and safeguards against information loss. To increase the illumination component's luminosity, we subsequently constructed an enhancement network. The Multiscale Guidance Block (MSGB) has been integrated into the improvement network, together with multilayer extended convolution to expand the sensing field and enhance the network's capability for feature extraction. In the process of fabric production, various types of defects affect the quality of a fabric. However, due to the wide variety of fabric defects, the complexity of fabric textures, and the concealment of small target defects, current fabric defect detection algorithms suffer from issues such as having a slow detection speed, low detection accuracy, and a low recognition rate of small target defects. Therefore, developing an efficient and accurate fabric defect detection system has become an urgent problem that needs to be addressed in the textile industry. Addressing the aforementioned issues, this paper proposes an improved YOLOv8n-LAW algorithm based on the YOLOv8n algorithm. First, LSKNet attention mechanisms are added to both ends of the C2f module in the backbone network to provide a broader context area, enhancing the algorithm's feature extraction capability. Next, the PAN-FPN structure of the backbone network is replaced by the AFPN structure, so that the different levels of features of the defects are closer to the semantic information in the progressive fusion. Finally, the CIoU loss is replaced with the WIoU v3 loss, allowing the model to dynamically adjust gradient gains based on the features of fabric defects, effectively focusing on distinguishing between defective and non-defective regions. With the increasing applications of traffic scene image classification in intelligent transportation systems, there is a growing demand for improved accuracy and robustness in this classification task. However, due to weather conditions, time, lighting variations, and annotation costs, traditional deep learning methods still have limitations in extracting complex traffic scene features and achieving higher recognition accuracy. The previous classification methods for traffic scene images had gaps in multi-scale feature extraction and the combination of frequency domain, spatial, and channel attention. To address these issues, this paper proposes a multi-scale and multi-attention model based on Res2Net. Our proposed framework introduces an Adaptive Feature Refinement Pyramid Module (AFRPM) to enhance multi-scale feature extraction, thus improving the accuracy of traffic scene image classification. Additionally, we integrate frequency domain and spatial-channel attention mechanisms to develop recognition capabilities for complex backgrounds, objects of different scales, and local details in traffic scene images. Pixel‐level labeling of regions of interest in an image is a key step in building a labeled training dataset for supervised deep learning networks of images. However, traditional manual labeling of cancerous regions in digital pathological images by doctors is time‐consuming and inefficient. To address this issue, this paper proposes an automatic labeling method for whole slide images, which combines clustering and edge detection techniques. The proposed method utilizes the multi‐level feature fusion model and the Long‐Short Term Memory network to discriminate the cancerous nature of the whole slide images, thereby improving the classification accuracy of the whole slide images. Subsequently, the automatic labeling of cancerous regions is achieved by integrating a density‐based clustering algorithm and an edge point extraction algorithm, both based on the discriminated results of the cancerous properties of whole slide images. Accurately assessing the state of health (SOH) of lithium batteries is of great significance for improving battery safety performance. However, the current assessment for SOH suffers from the difficulty of selecting health features and the lack of uncertainty using data-driven methods. To this end, this paper proposes a health state assessment method for lithium-ion batteries based on health feature extraction and an improved Informer model. First, multiple features that can reflect the SOH of lithium-ion batteries were extracted from the charging and discharging time, the peak value of incremental capacity curve (ICC), and the inflection point value of differential voltage curve, etc., and the correlation between multiple health features and the health state was evaluated by gray correlation analysis. Then, an improved Informer model is proposed to establish a health state estimation method for lithium-ion batteries. Finally, the proposed algorithm is tested and validated using publicly available battery charge/discharge datasets and compared with other algorithms. The results show that the method in this paper can realize high-precision SOH prediction with a root-mean-square error (RMSE) of 0.011, and the model fit reaches more than 98%. In the feature identification of maritime VHF radio communication signals, shipborne VHF communication technology follows the same international technical standards formulated by IMO, uses analog communication technology and uses the same communication channel in the same area, and cannot effectively achieve signal feature identification by adding feature elements in the process of signal modulation. How to effectively identify the ship using VHF radio has always been a technical difficulty in the field of ship perception. In this paper, based on the convolutional neural network, combined with the feasibility of CAM feature extraction and BiLSTM feature extraction in non-cooperative signal recognition, a deep learning recognition model of shipborne VHF radio communication signals is established, and the deep learning approach is employed to discern the features of VHF signals, thereby accomplishing the identification and classification of transmitting VHF radio stations. Several experiments are designed according to the characteristics of ship communication scenes at sea. Simple Summary: In the sorting process of Chinese softshell turtles, it is necessary to classify them based on their weight and accurately identify their plastron and carapace. This process requires heavy manual labor and complex mechanical processing methods. To improve processing efficiency and reduce costs, this article introduces machine vision technology, and a new image processing method is proposed. This method can estimate the weight of Chinese softshell turtles and accurately locate the positions of their plastron and carapace. The automation level of aquaculture can be greatly enhanced, and hardware costs can be reduced through software optimization through this approach. With the rapid development of the turtle breeding industry in China, the demand for automated turtle sorting is increasing. The automatic sorting of Chinese softshell turtles mainly consists of three parts: visual recognition, weight prediction, and individual sorting. This paper focuses on two aspects, i.e., visual recognition and weight prediction, and a novel method for the object detection and weight prediction of Chinese softshell turtles is proposed. In the individual sorting process, computer vision technology is used to estimate the weight of Chinese softshell turtles and classify them by weight. For the visual recognition of the body parts of Chinese softshell turtles, a color space model is proposed in this paper to separate the turtles from the background effectively. By applying multiple linear regression analysis for modeling, the relationship between the weight and morphological parameters of Chinese softshell turtles is obtained, which can be used to estimate the weight of turtles well. An improved deep learning object detection network is used to extract the features of the plastron and carapace of the Chinese softshell turtles, achieving excellent detection results. An ultra-short-term multivariate load forecasting method under a microscopic perspective is proposed to address the characteristics of user-level integrated energy systems (UIES), which are small in scale and have large load fluctuations. Firstly, the spatio-temporal correlation of users' energy use behavior within the UIES is analyzed, and a multivariate load input feature set in the form of a class image is constructed based on the various types of load units. Secondly, in order to maintain the feature independence and temporal integrity of each load during the feature extraction process, a deep neural network architecture with spatiotemporal coupling characteristics is designed. Among them, the multi-channel parallel convolutional neural network (MCNN) performs independent spatial feature extraction of the 2D load component pixel images at each moment in time, and feature fusion of various types of load features in high dimensional space. A bidirectional long short-term memory network (BiLSTM) is used as a feature sharing layer to perform temporal feature extraction on the fused load sequences. In addition, a spatial attention layer and a temporal attention layer are designed in this paper for the original input load pixel images and the fused load sequences, respectively, so that the model can better capture the important information. Finally, a multi-task learning approach based on the hard sharing mechanism achieves joint prediction of each load. To enhance the accuracy of theft detection for electricity consumers, this paper introduces a novel strategy based on the fusion of the dual-time feature and deep learning methods. Initially, considering electricity-consumption features at dual temporal scales, the paper employs temporal convolutional networks (TCN) with a long short-term memory (LSTM) multi-level feature extraction module (LSTM-TCN) and deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) to parallelly extract features at these scales. Subsequently, the extracted features are coupled and input into a fully connected (FC) layer for classification, enabling the precise detection of theft users. To validate the method's effectiveness, real electricity-consumption data from the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) is used for testing. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a remarkable detection accuracy of up to 94.7% during testing, showcasing excellent performance across various evaluation metrics. Specifically, it attained values of 0.932, 0.964, 0.948, and 0.986 for precision, recall, F1 score, and AUC, respectively. Gamma spectrum denoising can reduce the adverse effects of statistical fluctuations of radioactivity, gamma ray scattering, and electronic noise on the measured gamma spectrum. Traditional denoising methods are intricate and require analytical expertise in gamma spectrum analysis. This paper proposes a segmentation‐enhanced Convolutional Neural Network‐Stacked Denoising Autoencoder (CNN‐SDAE) method based on convolutional feature extraction network and stacked denoising autoencoder to achieve gamma spectrum denoising, which adopts the idea of data segmentation to enhance the learning ability of the neural network. By dividing the complete gamma spectrum into multiple segments and then using the segmentation‐enhanced CNN‐SDAE method for denoising, the method can achieve adaptive denoising without manually setting the threshold. The experimental results show that our method can effectively achieve gamma spectrum denoising while retaining the characteristics of the gamma spectrum. Compared with traditional methods, the denoising speed and effectiveness have been significantly improved, and the proposed method demonstrates an approximately 1.72‐fold enhancement in smoothing performance than the empirical mode decomposition method. Furthermore, in terms of retaining gamma spectrum characteristics, it also achieves a performance improvement of approximately three orders of magnitude than the wavelet method. Monitoring aircraft using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images is a very important task. Given its coherent imaging characteristics, there is a large amount of speckle interference in the image. This phenomenon leads to the scattering information of aircraft targets being masked in SAR images, which is easily confused with background scattering points. Therefore, automatic detection of aircraft targets in SAR images remains a challenging task. For this task, this paper proposes a framework for speckle reduction preprocessing of SAR images, followed by the use of an improved deep learning method to detect aircraft in SAR images. Firstly, to improve the problem of introducing artifacts or excessive smoothing in speckle reduction using total variation (TV) methods, this paper proposes a new nonconvex total variation (NTV) method. This method aims to ensure the effectiveness of speckle reduction while preserving the original scattering information as much as possible. Next, we present a framework for aircraft detection based on You Only Look Once v8 (YOLOv8) for SAR images. Therefore, the complete framework is called SAR-NTV-YOLOv8. Meanwhile, a high-resolution small target feature head is proposed to mitigate the impact of scale changes and loss of depth feature details on detection accuracy. Then, an efficient multi-scale attention module was proposed, aimed at effectively establishing short-term and long-term dependencies between feature grouping and multi-scale structures. In addition, the progressive feature pyramid network was chosen to avoid information loss or degradation in multi-level transmission during the bottom-up feature extraction process in Backbone. Sufficient comparative experiments, speckle reduction experiments, and ablation experiments are conducted on the SAR-Aircraft-1.0 and SADD datasets. With the widespread application of information technology in education, the real-time detection of student behavior in the classroom has become a key issue in improving teaching quality. This paper proposes a Student Behavior Detection (SBD) model that combines YOLOv5, the Contextual Attention (CA) mechanism and OpenPose, aiming to achieve efficient and accurate behavior recognition in complex classroom environments. By integrating YOLOv5 with the CA attention mechanism to enhance feature extraction capabilities, the model's recognition performance in complex backgrounds, such as those with occlusion, is significantly improved. In addition, the feature map generated by the improved YOLOv5 is used to replace VGG-19 in OpenPose, which effectively improves the accuracy of student posture recognition. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model achieves a maximum mAP of 82.1% in complex classroom environments, surpassing Faster R-CNN by 5.2 percentage points and YOLOv5 by 4.6 percentage points. Additionally, the F1 score and R value of this model exhibit clear advantages over the other two traditional methods. Currently, a large number of pornographic images on the Internet severely affect the growth of adolescents. In order to create a healthy and benign online environment, it is necessary to recognize and detect these sensitive images. Current techniques for detecting pornographic content are still in an immature stage, with the key issue being low detection accuracy. To address this problem, this paper proposes a method for detecting pornographic content based on an improved YOLOv8 model. Firstly, InceptionNeXt is introduced into the backbone network to enhance the model's adaptability to images of different scales and complexities by optimizing feature extraction through parallel branches and deep convolution. Simultaneously, the SPPF module is simplified into the SimCSPSPPF module, which further enhances the effectiveness and diversity of features through improved spatial pyramid pooling and cross-layer feature fusion. Secondly, switchable dilated convolutions are incorporated to improve the adaptability of the C2f enhancement model and enhance the model's detection capability. Finally, SEAattention is introduced to enhance the model's ability to capture spatial details. The experiments demonstrate that the model achieves an mAP@0.5 of 79.7% on our self-made sensitive image dataset, which is a significant improvement of 5.9% compared to the previous YOLOv8n network. In this paper, we propose a representation of the visual information about Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) video games using an adapted unsupervised deep learning architecture called Convolutional Accordion Auto-Encoder (Conv_A2E). Our study includes a presentation of current representations of MOBA video game information and why our proposal offers a novel and useful solution to this task. This approach aims to achieve dimensional reduction and refined feature extraction of the visual data. To enhance the model's performance, we tested several attention mechanisms for computer vision, evaluating algorithms from the channel attention and spatial attention families, and their combination. Through experimentation, we found that the best reconstruction of the visual information with the Conv_A2E was achieved when using a spatial attention mechanism, deformable convolution, as its mean squared error (MSE) during testing was the lowest, reaching a value of 0.003893, which means that its dimensional reduction is the most generalist and representative for this case study. This paper proposes an advanced deep learning model that integrates the Diffusion-Transformer structure and parallel attention mechanism for the tasks of growth estimation and disease detection in jujube forests. Existing methods in forestry monitoring often fall short in meeting the practical needs of large-scale and highly complex forest areas due to limitations in data processing capabilities and feature extraction precision. In response to this challenge, this paper designs and conducts a series of benchmark tests and ablation experiments to systematically evaluate and verify the performance of the proposed model across key performance metrics such as precision, recall, accuracy, and F1-score. Experimental results demonstrate that compared to traditional machine learning models like Support Vector Machines and Random Forests, as well as common deep learning models such as AlexNet and ResNet, the model proposed in this paper achieves a precision of 95%, a recall of 92%, an accuracy of 93%, and an F1-score of 94% in the task of disease detection in jujube forests, showing similarly superior performance in growth estimation tasks as well. With the development of the power system, power users begin to use their own power supply in order to improve the power economy, but this also leads to the occurrence of the risk of self-provided power supply. The actual distribution network has few samples of power supply risk and it is difficult to identify the power supply risk by using conventional deep learning methods. In order to achieve high accuracy of self-provided power supply risk identification with small samples, this paper proposes a combination of transfer learning, convolutional block attention module (CBAM), and convolutional neural network (CNN) to identify the risk of self-provided power supply in an active distribution network. Firstly, in order to be able to further identify whether or not a risk will be caused based on completing the identification of the faulty line, we propose that it is necessary to identify whether or not the captive power supply on the faulty line is in operation. Second, in order to achieve high-precision identification and high-efficiency feature extraction, we propose to embed the CBAM into a CNN to form a CBAM-CNN model, so as to achieve high-efficiency feature extraction and high-precision risk identification. Finally, the use of transfer learning is proposed to solve the problem of low risk identification accuracy due to the small number of actual fault samples. Simulation experiments show that compared with other methods, the proposed method has the highest recognition accuracy and the best effect, and the risk recognition accuracy of active distribution network backup power is high in the case of fewer samples. The security of Internet of Things (IoT) networks has become a integral problem in view of the exponential growth of IoT devices. Intrusion detection and prevention is an approach, used to identify, analyze, and block cyber threats to protect IoT from unauthorized access or attacks. This paper introduces an adaptive and incremental intrusion detection and prevention system based on RNNs, to the ever changing field of IoT security. IoT networks require advanced intrusion detection systems that can identify emerging threats because of their various and dynamic data sources. The complexity of IoT network data makes it difficult for traditional intrusion detection techniques to detect potential threats. Using the capabilities of RNNs, a model for creating and deploying an intrusion detection and prevention system (IDPS) is proposed in this paper. RNNs work particularly well for sequential data processing, which makes them an appropriate choice for IoT network traffic monitoring. NSL-KDD dataset is taken, pre-processed, features are extracted, and RNN-based model is built as a part of the proposed work. The experimental findings illustrate how effective the suggested approach is at identifying and blocking intrusions in Internet of Things networks. This paper not only demonstrates the effectiveness of RNNs in enhancing IoT network security but also opens avenues for further exploration in this burgeoning field. During the molybdenite mining process, conveyor belts stretching for miles are used to transport ore between the blasting sites, crushing stations, and the concentrator plant. In order to ensure the safety and stability of the industrial production process, this paper introduces a foreign matter detection method based on deep learning for the belt conveyor. Aiming at the problems of insufficient feature extraction capabilities in existing machine vision-based foreign body detection methods and poor detection accuracy due to imbalanced positive and negative samples, an improved foreign body detection method for anchorless frame-type metal mine belt conveyors is proposed. This method introduces atrous convolution in the pooling layer to increase the receptive field of feature extraction and improve the ability of extracting feature details of foreign objects. By optimizing the ratio of positive and negative samples in the training process, the overall loss function value of the algorithm is reduced to ensure the accuracy of foreign body recognition. Finally, the improved model is trained after enhancing and labeling the sample dataset. The experimental results show that the average mean accuracy of foreign body detection (MAP) is 90.9%, better than existing methods. Large field-of-view images are increasingly used in various environments today, and image stitching technology can make up for the limited field of view caused by hardware design. However, previous methods are constrained in various environments. In this paper, we propose a method that combines the powerful feature extraction capabilities of the Superpoint algorithm and the exact feature matching capabilities of the Lightglue algorithm with the image fusion algorithm of Unsupervised Deep Image Stitching (UDIS). Our proposed method effectively improves the situation where the linear structure is distorted and the resolution is low in the stitching results of the UDIS algorithm. On this basis, we make up for the shortcomings of the UDIS fusion algorithm. For stitching fractures of UDIS in some complex situations, we optimize the loss function of UDIS. We use a second-order differential Laplacian operator to replace the difference in the horizontal and vertical directions to emphasize the continuity of the structural edges during training. Combined with the above improvements, the Super Unsupervised Deep Image Stitching (SuperUDIS) algorithm is finally formed. SuperUDIS has better performance in both qualitative and quantitative evaluations compared to the UDIS algorithm, with the PSNR index increasing by 0.5 on average and the SSIM index increasing by 0.02 on average. In today's digital world, Android phones play a vital part in a variety of facets of both professionals and individuals' personal and professional lives. Android phones are great for getting things done faster and more organized. The proportionate increase in the number of malicious applications has also been seen to be expanding. Since the play store offers millions of apps, detection of malware apps is challenging task. In this paper, a methodology is introduced for detecting malware in Android applications through the utilization of global image shape transform (GIST) features extracted from grayscale images of the applications. The dataset comprises samples of both malware and benign apps collected from the virus share website. After converting the apps into grayscale images, GIST features are extracted to capture their global spatial layout. Various machine learning (ML) algorithms, such as logistic regression (LR), k-nearest neighbour (KNN), AdaBoost, decision tree (DT), Naïve Bayes (NB), random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), extra tree classifier (ETC), and gradient boosting (GB), are employed to classify the applications according to their GIST features. Furthermore, a feed forward neural network (FFNN) is utilized as a deep learning (DL) technique to further improve the accuracy of classification. The performance of each algorithm is evaluated using metrics such as accuracy, precision and recall. With a significant number of mechanical products approaching the retirement phase, the batch recycling of discarded mechanical parts necessitates a preliminary assessment of their surface condition. However, the presence of surface rust poses a challenge to defect identification. Therefore, this paper proposes a method for detecting heavily rusted surface defects based on an improved YOLOv8n network. In the Backbone, the C2f-DBB module of re-parameterized deep feature extraction was introduced, and the attention module was designed to improve the accuracy of information extraction. In the Neck part, a Bi-Afpn multiscale feature fusion strategy is designed to facilitate information exchange between features at different scales. Finally, Focal-CIoU is employed as the bounding box loss function to enhance the network's localization performance and accuracy for defects. Experimentally, it is proved that the improved network in this paper improves the Recall, Precision, and mAP0.5 by 1.2%, 2.1%, and 1.9%, respectively, on the original basis, which is better than other network models. With the exponential growth of data, extracting actionable insights becomes resource-intensive. In many organizations, normalized relational databases store a significant portion of this data, where tables are interconnected through some relations. This paper explores relational learning, which involves joining and merging database tables, often normalized in the third normal form. The subsequent processing includes extracting features and utilizing them in machine learning (ML) models. In this paper, we experiment with the propositionalization algorithm (i.e., Wordification) for feature engineering. Next, we compare the algorithms PropDRM and PropStar, which are designed explicitly for multi-relational data mining, to traditional machine learning algorithms. Based on the performed experiments, we concluded that Gradient Boost, compared to PropDRM, achieves similar performance (F1 score, accuracy, and AUC) on multiple datasets. PropStar consistently underperformed on some datasets while being comparable to the other algorithms on others. In summary, the propositionalization algorithm for feature extraction makes it feasible to apply traditional ML algorithms for relational learning directly. In contrast, approaches tailored specifically for relational learning still face challenges in scalability, interpretability, and efficiency. These findings have a practical impact that can help speed up the adoption of machine learning in business contexts where data is stored in relational format without requiring domain-specific feature extraction. Defect pattern analysis of wafer bin maps (WBMs) is an important means of identifying process problems. Recently, automated analysis methods using machine learning or deep learning have been studied as alternatives to manual classification by engineers. In this paper, we propose a method to improve the feature extraction performance of defect patterns by transforming the polar coordinate system instead of the existing WBM image input. To reduce the variability of the location representation, defect patterns in the Cartesian coordinate system, where the location of the distributed defect die is not constant, were converted to a polar coordinate system. The CNN classifier, which uses polar coordinate transformed input, achieved a classification accuracy of 91.3%, which is 4.8% better than the existing WBM image-based CNN classifier. Additionally, a tree-structured classifier model that sequentially connects binary classifiers achieved a classification accuracy of 94%. The method proposed in this paper is also applicable to the defect pattern classification of WBMs consisting of different die sizes than the training data. Finally, the paper proposes an automated pattern classification method that uses individual classifiers to learn defect types and then applies ensemble techniques for multiple defect pattern classification.
