The invention pertains to an antifriction alloy on a base of aluminum, applied in tractor machine building. The proposed alloy is intended for the production of bushings of internal combustion bearings, covered by a break-in plating.

An investigation was made into the transparency of high resistance specimens and the electro optical effect in them in connection with the feasibility of using GaAs crystals for modulating laser emission with a wavelength of 10.6 Mu. The results show that an IR modulator can be developed on the basis of GaAs crystals which operate at high layer power levels, in particular when cooling is used (the authors used a thermoelectric cooler). This invention pertains to aluminum-base antifriction alloys used in motor and tractor mechanical engineering. The proposed metal is specifically designed for the manufacture of internal combustion bearing inserts coated with a bread-in coating. Heavily loaded internal combustion engines with a specific pressure up to 600 kg/sq cm impose increased requirements on the strength of the antifriction aluminum alloy. These increased strength features are achieved by selecting an alloy with the following composition, in %: Lead 4-6; tin 1-3; copper 0.5-1; silicon 1.5-2.5; nickel 0.1-4; aluminum remaining.

Energy conditions were investigated which determined the generation of plasma on account of graphite anode erosion in an Ar atm. Arc current was 500-540 amp. The existing photoelectric telescope guidance systems developed in the SSSR and abroad cannot fully satisfy the demands for weak astronomical object tracking. An analysis of the sensitivity of various instruments in operation shows that the automation of medium sized telescopes with optical guides having 150-200 mm apertures demands a reduction in sensitivity threshold of photoguides by 2 to 3 stellar magnitudes. This may be achieved either by developing more sensitive photomultipliers or by applying the method of accumulation of weak electric signals in photosensors. An experimental study was made of the operation of an FEU-64 photomultiplier under conditions close to those found in automatic guide photosensors using half-disk modulators of light flux. The telescope controlled was an AZT-7 device with a 200 mm aperture and a focal length of 10 m. This article presents the theoretical basis for the photomultiplier operation, the design of the setup, and the results of tests showing that the sensitivity threshold can be lowered to the 2.5-3 level of stellar magnitude by the application of the accumulation method. The AZT-15 and AZT-16 telescopes, their optical systems, photoelectric guiding system, and associated high voltage electronic equipment are discussed in detail. In particular the photoelectric guiding system and photomultipliers are treated to special attention. The systems were designed for the purpose of tracking stars of the 8th and 9th magnitude. The automatic interferometer control system has 3 principal subsystems which also specify its performance: an automatic guiding subsystem which points the instrument, mounted on an azimuthal platform, toward any point in the sky which is given in equatorial coordinates; a coarse tracking subsystem; a photoelectric guiding subsystem. After the desired equatorial coordinates of the star (direct ascent and declination) and the proper stellar times are selected on the control panel, the guiding subsystem guides the interferometer tube toward the star at a velocity of 200 rev/24 hrs and with an accuracy of plus or minus 10 seconds of arc. Then the astronomer readjusts the pointing accuracy visually and by manual controls. After this the coarse tracking subsystem is switched in and the photoelectric guiding subsystem whose field of view is 2 sec. of arc, is also turned on. The stellar time variable is supplied continuously to the system and the tracking proceeds according to the motion of the earth. The guiding and coarse tracking subsystems use the same basic components with few additional signals being switched in and out for each operation. The tracking system (for both A and H axes) consists of an electronic amplifier, an amplidyne, driving motor, tachometer, reduction gear and angular error signal sources. The operational principle and basic equipment of a centralized system for the assembly and processing of information are described in detail. The system consists of a memory core device, a control device, several input arrangements, an output arrangement and extension testing panels. The technical characteristics of the system are as follows: 2048 channels; channel volume, 2 to the 16th power; there are 8 input devices; interrogation period, 5 microsec; registration time of the number, 82 microsec; maximum registration frequency, 12,000 pulses/sec; data output speed with digital printout, 20 lines per sec; and the output speed on the perforator, 20 octal signs per second.
