The article focuses on the political realities in Europe while under the influence of the Cold War. Secretary of State Dean Rusk said that the U.S. will protect West Germany and West Berlin from aggression; however, he was countered by Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko who stressed on their determination to maintain their hold on Eastern Europe. Meanwhile, Yugoslavs are said preparing for the worst and planning to slow down enemy advances for six to seven days before using guerilla warfare.
