No Time for Delusion.

The article assesses the capability of Western nations to meet and counter a Soviet attack on Europe. A meeting was held by the defense chiefs of eleven Atlantic pact nations in The Hague in the Netherlands in 1950 to examine military readiness. The main U.S. effort at the meeting was to assure that the U.S. would help European allies in thwarting a Soviet attack. An evaluation of the present military strength in Europe, whose worst part lies in Germany and France, is presented.
