There is a tremendous variety of hardware that is available for forms for concrete construction, and making a selection is confusing. This paper classifies form hardware by its use and by its load carrying capacity. The use and function, as well as a com-plete description of each tie, is given. Advantages and disadvantages of the various form ties are dis-cussed, and the applications of the ties compared. A variety of fastening systems are used when anchoring to concrete. The object of this study was to determine some of the loading characteristics in tension and shear of several types of grouted anchor bolts. The load capacities of the bolts in this study are compared to published test results of two types of mechanical fasteners. Three types of grout and two sizes of bolts were investigated. The section of "Textile Machinery," focuses on various types of weaving machines. It traces the growth of such machines and states that earlier these machines used to have cast-iron box-frame structure with holes for the purpose of fastening and festooning the frame. However, the new looms witnessed increased speed and accurately positioned brackets and fixings. It also explains the mechanisms of various machines like that of loom dobbies, pirn looms, gripper-shuttle looms and rapier looms. It states that the gripper shutter loom was introduced by A. Saurer of Arbon, Switzerland.
