Abstract

The section of "Textile Machinery," focuses on various types of weaving machines. It traces the growth of such machines and states that earlier these machines used to have cast-iron box-frame structure with holes for the purpose of fastening and festooning the frame. However, the new looms witnessed increased speed and accurately positioned brackets and fixings. It also explains the mechanisms of various machines like that of loom dobbies, pirn looms, gripper-shuttle looms and rapier looms. It states that the gripper shutter loom was introduced by A. Saurer of Arbon, Switzerland.
