The National Developmental Project on Rhetoric sponsored by the Speech Communication Association and the National Endowment for the Humanities recently called for broadening the scope of rhetorical criticism to include subjects which have not traditionally fallen within the critic's purview. Some of the income of the journal is obtained from advertising but more than half of funds are derived from membership in the Western Speech Association.
