Die schon zu Lebzeiten durch Anhänger und Unterstützer begonnene Mythisierung Friedrichs II. und seines Enkels Konradin hat sich im Laufe der Zeit nicht nur in Deutschland, sondern auch in Süditalien mit überraschenden Folgen lebendig erhalten. So war nämlich die Erinnerung an Konradin in dem kleinen Ort Aliano in der Provinz Matera (Basilikata) selbst zu Zeiten Carlo Levis, der dort während des Faschismus im Exil lebte, fassbar - man sprach vom letzten Staufer wie von einem Nationalhelden und betrauerte noch immer seinen Tod. Abgesehen vom menschlichen Mitgefühl, das der Tod eines Jünglings in besonderem Maße weckt, gibt der unglückliche Versuch Konradins, seine Erbansprüche auf das Königreich Sizilien geltend zu machen, immer wieder Anlass zu historiografischer Debatte. Denn er ermöglicht einen Einblick in die politischen Prozesse, die zu diesem Zeitpunkt nicht nur im Gebiet des Heiligen Römischen Reiches, zu dem Mittel- und Norditalien gehörten, vonstattengingen, sondern auch in den mit dem Reich interagierenden politischen Formationen, darunter das Königreich Sizilien. Der Band ist das Resultat einer Konferenz, die anlässlich des 750. Jahrestages der Hinrichtung Konradins und seiner adligen Gefährten 2018 an der Universität Neapel Federico II gehalten wurde.

Background Bariatric surgery provides excellent results in term of weight loss and improve associated metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). There is low evidence in literature about changes in body composition in relation to different bariatric procedures and the presence of T2DM. Aim of this study is to evaluate changes in body composition in diabetic obese patients vs. non-diabetic obese patients who underwent different bariatric procedures, Gastric bypass (LRYGB) or Sleeve Gastrectomy (SG). Methods the Body composition of obese patients eligible to surgery was evaluated by bioelectrical impedence analysis (Tanita BC 418-MA) before and 1-year after surgery. A variation test was used to analyze results (BMI and body composition). Results 46 patients underwent bariatric procedures: 20 patients LRYGB and 26 patients SG. 21 patients preoperatively suffered from T2DM and 25 did not. Data concerning BMI and body composition were collected at baseline and 1- year follow-up in four subgroups of patients: obese non-diabetic patients (group 1) and obese diabetic patients (group 2) who underwent LRYGB, obese non-diabetic patients (group 3) and obese diabetic patients (group 4) who underwent Sleeve gastrectomy. At 1-year follow-up, fat mass and fat-free mass differences in percentage were statistically significant in each subgroup. There were no statistically significant differences as regards BMI, fat mass and fat-free mass percentages between subgroups 1 and 2 as there were, in contrast, between group 3 and 4. Conclusions bariatric surgery can induce good results in term of weight loss, reduction of fat mass as well as fat-free mass improvement. Obese diabetic patients submitted to Sleeve Gastrectomy have a worse improvement of fat mass and free-fat mass compared to non diabetic patients submitted to the same procedure.

Bariatric surgery (BS) is able to positively influence fasting lipid profile in obese type 2 diabetic patients (T2DM), but no data is available on the impact of BS on postprandial lipid metabolism neither on its relation with incretin hormones. We evaluated the short-term (2 weeks) effects of BS on fasting and postprandial lipid metabolism in obese T2DM patients and the contribution of changes in active GLP-1. We studied 25 obese T2DM patients (age = 46 ± 8 years, BMI = 44 ± 7 kg/m2), of which 15 underwent sleeve gastrectomy and 10 underwent gastric bypass. BACKGROUND: Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) and sleeve gastrectomy (SG) are performed in patients with obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The aim of this study is to evaluate retrospectively the clinical efficacy of RYGB and SG in two groups of obese T2DM patients. METHODS: From the hospital database, we extracted the clinical records of 31 obese T2DM patients, of whom 15 (7 F/8 M) had undergone laparoscopic SG (LSG) and 16 (7 F/9 M) laparoscopic RYGB (LRYGB) in the period 2005-2008. The groups were comparable for age (range 33-59 years) and BMI (range 38-57 kg/m(2)). LRYGB alimentary limb was 150 cm, and biliopancreatic limb was 150 cm from the Treitz ligament. LSG vertical transection was calibrated on a 40-Fr orogastric bougie. Data were analysed at 6, 12 and 18-24 months with reference to weight loss and remission of comorbidities. RESULTS: The reduction in body weight was comparable in the two groups. At 18-24 months the percent BMI reduction was 29 ± 8 and 33 ± 11 % in LSG and LRYGB, respectively. Percent excess weight loss was 53 ± 16 and 52 ± 19 % in LSG and LRYGB, respectively. Thirteen patients in LSG and 14 patients in LRYGB discontinued their hypoglycaemic medications. Five (55 %) patients in LSG and eight (89 %) in LRYGB discontinued antihypertensive drugs. Three out of five patients in LSG and one out of two patients in LRYGB withdrew lipid-lowering agents. CONCLUSIONS: LSG and LRYGB are equally effective in terms of weight loss and remission of obesity-related comorbidities. Controlled long-term comparisons are needed to establish the optimal procedure in relation to patients' characteristics.

This study was undertaken to assess medium-term effects of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) on body weight and glucose homeostasis in severely obese type 2 diabetic (T2DM) subjects. Twenty-five obese T2DM subjects (10 M/15 F, age45±9years, BMI48±8 kg/m2, M ± SD) underwent evaluation of anthropometric/clinical parameters and glucose homeostasis before, 3 and 9–15 months after LSG. Mean BMI decreased from48±8 kg/m2to40±9 kg/m2(P<.001) at 3 months and34±6 kg/m2(P<.001) at 9–15 months after surgery. Remission of T2DM (fasting plasma glucose < 126 mg/dL andHbA1c<6.5% in the absence of hypoglycemic treatment) occurred in all patients but one. There was a remarkable reduction in the percentage of patients requiring antihypertensive and hypolipidemic drugs. Our study shows that LSG is effective in producing a significant and sustained weight loss and improving glucose homeostasis in severely obese T2DM patients.

L’intervento repertoria, sulla base di fonti edite ed inedite, le cerimonie pubbliche di Capua tra XV e XVI secolo, distinguendole in: 1. Cerimonie reali in Capua; 2. Cerimonie capuane che affermano il legame tra la città e la Corona, tra la città e lo Stato; 3. Cerimonie ordinarie della città. Se la ritualità è, nelle società di antico regime, non solo il linguaggio del potere ma anche l’espressione di un universo culturale condiviso dall’intera popolazione, è evidente, a giudizio di chi scrive, che anche le cerimonie del secondo tipo (“misto” per così dire), sono a tutti gli effetti cerimonie della città, manifestazione della sua religione civica. Ciò è tanto più vero nel caso di Capua, una popolosa città demaniale di Terra di Lavoro che, per ragioni geografiche e politiche e per la frequentazione continua da parte dei sovrani aragonesi, può essere considerata come una delle poche residenze reali al di fuori di Napoli. Anche in epoca spagnola le élites cittadine beneficiarono della contiguità personale, politica ed istituzionale con il centro del regno (viceré e Consiglio Collaterale).
