Budizm; tarihi, edebiyatı, uygulamaları, ekolleri, gelenek ve mefhumlarıyla Hindistan kökenli felsefi inanış sistemleri arasında önemli bir yere sahiptir. Ortaya çıkmasını takip eden süre boyunca Hindistan’daki siyasi oluşumlar tarafından uzun bir süre desteklenmiş olan Budizm, yazınsal kaynaklarını oluşturmaya başlamış ve böylece inanırları tarafından Buddha öğretisinin temelleri kayda geçirilmiştir. Milat sıralarına yaklaşıldıkça siyasi oluşumlardan beklediği desteği bulamayan Budizm, Asya’nın içlerine, doğusuna ve güneyine doğru yayılmıştır. Bunlar arasında Orta Asya ve İpek Yolu güzergâhı Budizm için önemli bir yayılma alanı olmuştur. Budizm, bu bölgedeki yerel inanışların etkisi altında yeni felsefi yorumlar geliştirmiş ve zamanla Budizm içerisindeki mevcut ekollere ilaveten yeni alt ekoller de ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu alt ekollerin bir kısmı yalnızca yazınsal kaynaklar itibarıyla Sanskritçe temellere dayanmaktadır. Bunlar daha evvelki ekollerden bir bakıma farklılık arz eden dinî kabulleri, ruhani liderleri, kozmolojisi ve mitolojisiyle Budizm’in tarihsel gelişim sürecinde taraftar bulmuştur. Tarihî ve efsanevi kişiliklerle örülü Budizm, Uygurlar arasında da kendine inanır bulmuş ve Budizm’in kutsal metinleri bu dile çevrilmiştir. Bu bağlamda yazı, konusunu muhtelif Budist kişiliklerden alan, bugüne kadar neşredilmemiş ve hangi metne ait olduğu belirlenememiş Eski Uygurca dokuz fragmanın filolojik neşri üzerinedir. Çalışmada ele alınan fragmanlar bugün Berlin Turfan Koleksiyonu’nda saklanmaktadır ve arşiv numaraları şöyledir: Mainz 261 (T III M 239/501), Mainz 267 (T II 852), Mainz 366 (T III M 239/505), Mainz 856 (T II D 29), U 2502 (T II S / T II 634), U 3525 (o. F.), U 5074 (T III M 131; T III M 131.501), U 5113 (o. F.) ve U 5158 (o. F.). Bu yazı, bahsi geçen fragmanların yazı çevirimini, harf çevirisini, aktarımını, açıklamalarını, dizin ve sözlüğünü içermektedir.

Old Uyghur language emerged as a result of translating religious texts. Additionally, there are also written works and fragments that are categorized as non-religious. The collection of texts and fragments includes letters, legal documents, celebration records, calendars, and medical texts. Medical texts are based on ancient medical traditions from different cultures, such as folk medicine, Assyrian, Indian, and Chinese. These texts include the names of plants, animals, minerals, drugs, diseases, treatments, and medical interventions. The earliest research on Old Uyghur medical texts involved the editing of texts. Subsequent to this, there were studies focused on lexicon, encompassing plant names, drug compositions, and related subjects. Furthermore, studies in the field of medical history were conducted to examine the development of these texts in Central Asian Turkish medicine. It is worth noting that Old Uyghur medical texts have largely been published and analyzed for lexical and medical history up to this day. This article presents four previously unpublished fragments on Old Uyghur medicine. The fragments, known as Mainz 353 (T II D 177-1), U 116 (T II K x 12), U 238 (T II D 177; Glas: T II D 177 g), and U 239 (T II D 177; Glas: T II D 177 X), are now part of the Berlin Turfan Collection. 4. The Instruction of a Man for His Son in Finland (O. SES 23).

This short article is the publication of a hieratic ostracon (O. SES 23) from the Ramesside Period in the collection of the Finnish Egyptological Society that preserves parts of the title, the exordium, and the first paragraph of The Instruction of a Man for His Son. The provenance and the exact acquisition history of the ostracon are unknown, but indirect evidence suggests that it derives from Deir el-Medina and was acquired in Luxor by the late Professor of Egyptology in Finland, Rostislav Holthoer, in the early 1970s. A textual variant in line three, also attested in another ostracon from Deir el-Medina, suggests that the first paragraph of the composition does not juxtapose the life of a scribe with that of a farmer, as is commonly believed, but instead with that of a soldier. - Abstract
In the treasure of Persian manuscripts, there are many epic and religious verses on the subject of the biography, beneficences, and battles of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Imam Ali (AS). Saqib's Masnavi (Hamleyeh Heydari) attributed to Mohammad Hossein Saqib Isfahani, is an epic and religious epopee, a unique copy of which is kept in the National Library of Iran by number 15752. The manuscript of this unknown epopee was composed in 1255 AH; however, due to the loss of the first pages and its preface, the name of the composer, the title of the poem, the date, and the reason for its composition are not known precisely. The current research, while introducing this manuscript, seeks to answer two research questions: What is the significance of Saqib's Masnavi from the point of view of literature, rhetoric, and terminology? How can its attribution to the composer be proven? The edition and examination of this manuscript show that Saqib's Masnavi is one of the most significant and precious religious poems, which, in addition to its religious worth, deserves attention in terms of literature, language, and the inclusion of rare ancient words of Persian texts. Sanskritçe Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra Mahāyāna Budizmi’nin önemli sūtralarından biridir. Metnin Sanskritçesi yanında Çince, Tibetçe, Moğolca, Soğdca, Hoten Sakacası ve Eski Uygurca versiyonları da mevcuttur. Eski Uygurca Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra bugün Berlin, Kyōto ve İstanbul’da bulunan fragmanlardan oluşan bir metindir. Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra kadar bu metin üzerine yazılmış tefsirler de oldukça önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bunlar içerisinde özellikle Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra tefsirinin Eski Uygurca tercümesine ait fragmanlar bugün Berlin Turfan Koleksiyonu’nda korunmaktadır. Eski Uygurca Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra tefsiri 48 fragman üzerine tesis edilmiştir ve 811 satır hacmindedir. Bu çalışmanın konusunu ise Eski Uygurca Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra tefsirine ait şimdiye kadar neşredilmemiş fragmanlar oluşturmaktadır. Tıpkı diğer fragmanlar gibi bu çalışmada ele alınan fragmanlar da Berlin Turfan Koleksiyonu’nda korunmaktadır. Çalışmaya esas alınan fragmanların Eski Uygurca Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra tefsirine ait olduğunun tespiti ve bununla birlikte ayrıntılı ve kapsamlı katalog bilgileri Simone-Christiane Raschmann tarafından yapılmıştır. Raschmann tarafından tespit edilen ve bu çalışmaya dâhil edilen fragmanların sayısı beştir ve arşiv numaraları sırasıyla şöyledir: U 2641 (T II 1080), U 3180 (T III B T.V. 51), U 3181 (T III B T.V. 51), U 3182 (T III B T.V. 51) ve U 3183 (T III B T.V. 51). Bu yazıda Eski Uygurca Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra tefsirine ait ve bahsi geçen arşiv numaralarına sahip fragmanların yazı çevirimi ve harf çevirisi, Türkiye Türkçesine aktarımı, dizininin/sözlüğünün hazırlanması amaçlanmıştır.

We present ALMA, a new research project aimed at investigating the interaction between language and knowledge practices from AD 1100 to 1500. Our primary question is how Medieval Italian, French, Occitan, Catalan, and Spanish developed into languages of knowledge and scholarship (German Wissen(schafts)sprachen) in permanent opposition to and exchange with the predominant Latin (but also with Arab, Greek, and Hebrew). Focusing on two domains, medicine and law, the project combines linguistics, text philology, and the history of science with the Digital Humanities and ontology engineering. ALMA will create two multi-lingual, domain-specific text corpora by integrating text editions of hitherto unedited manuscripts and incunabula, and digitized printed editions. Our corpus-linguistic exploration of the ALMA corpora will provide the basis for lexical-semantic studies that analyze emerging knowledge networks and the depth of their linguistic representations. We hypothesize that language evolution and the development of more complex linguistic structures will allow for measuring the impact of knowledge practices on medieval vernacular languages. We will trace the dissemination of lexical material across languages, language varieties, cultural spaces, and periods. This will enable us to follow specific vernacular communication channels. We will use cutting-edge technologies to compile, publish, and share our findings, and to model them in the form of historicized ontologies and Linked Data. Our onomasiological, ontology-driven approach will result in the creation of domain models that can be re-used within the Semantic Web. Old Uyghur Buddhist literature contains many works in different genres and subjects. Among them, the texts of confession have an important place. According to Buddhist belief, confession texts were produced to purify non-clerical people from the sins they had committed in their current and previous lives. There are several confession texts in the Old Uyghur literature, such as Ksanti kılguluk nom bitig [The Book on How One Should Practice Confessions], is associated with the Buddhist corpus. In addition, there are also fragments on confession in Old Uyghur that cannot be determined due to the lack of context, which the text is a part of today. In this regard, this paper focuses on Old Uyghur fragments that have not been published before and whose main subject is the confession of sins. All the fragments included in the article are preserved in the Berlin Turfan Collection with the following archival numbers: U 2236 (T 1527; T I), U 2315 (T 1504; T I), U 2425 (T II537), U 3009 (T II Toyoq; T). II T 501), U 313 (T IIY 59; TIIY 59.500), U 4866 (T ID 638), U 5350 (T I). Old Uyghur developed on the basis of religious and non-religious literature. While non-religious literature constitutes civil documents related to daily life, religious literature mainly constitutes the translation of literary sources related to circles such as Buddhism, Manichaeism and Nestorian Christianity. Among these, Buddhism has the largest place when it comes to the translation of religious literature. In fact, Buddhism does not take place among the Uyghurs with a single school. Northern Buddhism, or Mahāyāna school, in other words, and many schools, whether they originated in India or not, are traced in Buddhist Uyghur literature. Tibetan Buddhism is also a school that has a place in the Buddhist Uyghur literature, whose existence was witnessed especially in the last period of the Qocho Uyghur Khanate [850-1250] with its literary sources. Tibetan Buddhism, which is essentially based on Vajrayāna or Tantric Buddhism and blended with the Tibetan local religion Bön, has found its place in Tibet and Mongolia today. At this point, Sitatapatrādhāra?ī, which is also the subject of this paper, is a text written in this tradition. In this paper, three fragments identified as belonging to the Old Uyghur Sitātapatrādhāra?ī and preserved today in the Berlin Turfan Collection with archival numbers U 2250 (T I [544]), U 2251 (T I [545]) and U 2252 (T I [546]) will be examined. 19. Lestár Gyulaffi’s Manuscripts and the Fragmentation of a Magnum Opus

Lestár Gyulaffi (1556–1606?) was a secretary of the Greater Chancery of the Transylvanian Principality. Today, he is best-known as a writer of historical notes and commentaries. These records are considered an excellent source and therefore used by scholars researching the age. As the texts have not been recently published, researchers usually use the 19th-century text edition. However, looking at the original documents preserved in the ELTE University Library in Budapest, one realizes that Gyulaffi’s writings do not form a compact work, the 19th-century edition is largely a constructed text. In the present paper I will present what additional information can be obtained from the examination of the manuscripts.

How does Digital Mappa, a browser-based annotation tool, fit into the current landscape of Virtual Research Environments? How is an intuitive WYSIWYG graphical user interface suited for simple (scholarly) editions and image-text representations? What about involving different users via crowdsourcing? For this review, we took three distinct perspectives (user, teacher, and backend admin) and tested the tool for text annotation but furthermore for linking images with text. Digital Mappa proves to be a stable, not-so-easy-to-set-up tool that covers a lot of ground concerning annotation and image linking. Subsuming, we describe a mature system that allows for easy editing, suitable in the classroom. Critically, it has been assessed that the tool refrains from standards (such as TEI XML) and lacks capabilities to involve larger groups (e.g. for crowdsourcing).

Nozhat-Nameh Alaie is one of the most important ancient encyclopedias in the history of Persian literature that, due to its specific nature, is considered a multi-competent text and exposes the reader to a diverse number of genera. This text is composed of the knowledge of zoology, mineralogy, agriculture, astrology, history, geography, mythology and epic, talisman, insight, and so forth, which have been mixed with different popular customs and beliefs giving it a close resemblance to the Persian fantasy literature. Contrary to its significance, this text has been edited by Farhang Jahanpour and has been published without any endnote section. Despite using original and reliable manuscripts, this edition suffers from a lot of shortcomings. The present study takes a descriptive-analytical approach to edit and report a number of words, idioms, and phrases of Nozhat-Nameh Alaie. The main objective of the study is to edit a number of positions from the book on the basis of the original editor’s referred manuscripts, in order to further explain and analyze them with reference to other similar and corresponding texts. The results of the study show that although the original editor had access to dependable copies of manuscripts, lacking a definite methodology and criteria in editing the text, on one hand, and paying scares attention to the various knowledge of the text and its cultural backbone on the other hand, have led to many errors and shortcomings in Nozhat-Nameh Alaie. However, by reflecting on the manuscripts and referring to parallel and proper similar resources, these failures are rectifiable. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Samuel Reuss, a precursor of modern Slovak ethnography from the first half of the 19th c., collected numerous Slovak folk tales on which he wrote detailed commentaries in German. They include numerous quotations from various sources, e.g. Classics, historiographical and geographical works etc. thus proving Reuss’ tremendous encyclopedic knowledge. Both folk tales and commentaries are contained in three hitherto unpublished manuscripts known as Codexy revúcke. The present article examines Reuss’ quotations from the point of view of their critical edition and differentiates between three categories: 1) quotations whose sources are correctly mentioned; 2) correct quotations but with incorrect reference to their sources: 3) paraphrases of sources. The article discusses possibilities of identifying the sources from which Reuss quoted and suggests possible solutions to presenting the quotations in a critical edition.

Lestár Gyulaffi (1556-1606?) was a secretary of the Greater Chancery of the Transylvanian Principality. Today, he is best-known as a writer of historical notes and commentaries. These records are considered an excellent source and, therefore, used by scholars researching the 16th century. As the texts have not been recently published, researchers usually use the 19th-century text editions. However, looking at the original documents preserved at the ELTE University Library in Budapest, one realizes that Gyulaffi's writings do not form a compact work, the 19th -century edition is largely a constructed text. The paper presents the author's ongoing doctoral thesis: it is a philological edition of an old Romanian manuscript dictionary of the Transylvanian School, while it, also, provides a sample of the transcription. It briefly discusses the history of the manuscript and its contents, and it argues that, albeit difficult for a number of technical reasons, the paternity of the dictionary is certain. It, also, describes the dictionary in lexicographical terms, and discusses in footnotes each peculiarity encountered in the sampled manuscript. The paper provides a solution to an enigma in the Romanian philology: the name of the dictionary, which is nowhere explicitly given, yet, the analysis of the word-list supports the hypothesis that Ștefan Crișan himself might have opted for the wording Cuvântariu. Old Uyghur literature is comprised of religious works on Buddhism, Manichaeism and Nestorianism. Buddhism consists in the biggest part among these religious works. The works on many schools of Buddhism have been translated into Old Uyghur. One of them is Buddhāvataṁsaka-sūtra, which is the main literary source of Huayan school. Huayan is a school that made significant progress in the Sui (581-618) and Tang Dynasty (618-907) periods in China and has no equivalence in Indian Buddhism. This school not only stayed within the borders of China but also expanded towards Korea and Japan. Huayan school is known as Hwaŏm in Korean and Kegon in Japanese. This paper is about the edition of the four fragments from Buddhāvataṁsaka-sūtra's commentary in Old Uyghur. These fragments are protected at the Turfan Collection in Berlin Brandenburg Sciences and Humanities, with the archive numbers U 1308 ([T I] 3), U 1372 ([T I] 4), Mainz 821-1 (fragment a) (T I D) and U 1381 ([T I L] 11). Buddhāvatasaka-sūtra's commentary in Old Uyghur constitutes the 20th chapter of a compilation of the texts belonging to the Faxiang school of Buddhism, and the fragments edited in this paper constitute the 32nd, 33rd, 34th and 49th sheets of the same chapter. In this study, a short introduction to the perception of Huayan school outside China will be given first, then the transcription and transliteration of aforementioned Old Uyghur fragments, translations into Turkish, notes related to the text and glossary with an analytical index will be presented. Old Uyghur literature is comprised of translations of the religious text of the Silk Road religions such as Buddhism, Manichaeism and East Syriac Christianity. Faxiang school (法相宗) developed on the basis of Mahāyāna school, which is one of the two basic concepts of Buddhism, is the subject of this paper. Faxiang school was founded by Xuanzang (玄奘), who lived between the dates 602-664, and the main principles of this school are based on the work of Xuanzang's Cheng weishi lun (成 唯識 論) 'Discourse on the Theory of Consciousness Only'. This paper is about the edition of a fragment preserved with the archive number Mainz 785 (T II Y 52) at the Turfan Collection of the Berlin Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities. The fragment in question constitutes the 19th leaf of the third leaf of the work, which contains texts related to the Faxiang school of Buddhism. While the front page of Mainz 785 (T II Y 52) has 24 lines, the back page of this fragment contains 25 Old Uyghur lines. This study contains the transcription and transliteration of the aforementioned Old Uyghur fragment, translations into Turkish, notes and a glossary with an analytical index. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Tale of Yusof and Zoleykhā appears as part of a religious epic poem, the Bereshit-nāma (Book of Genesis), by the fourteenth-century Judæo-Persian poet Shāhin. Composed in 1358–59, in classical Persian with an admixture of Hebraisms and written in Hebrew characters, this tale was enormously popular within Persian-speaking Jewish communities and was frequently copied on its own. The paper focuses on two episodes from this story: Yusof's marriages to Zoleykhā and to Osnat (Asenath). Shāhin was active in the late Il-khanid and early post-Mongol periods, when new forms of patronage of literary and artistic production emerged seeking to blend different cultural worlds. The poet indeed fashioned unique amalgams of Jewish and Perso-Islamic traditions, both in form and content. The two episodes constitute small case studies for exploring Shāhin's diverse array of sources and for determining the thematic and structural ramifications of this fusion. The paper pinpoints how Shāhin accommodated and adapted Jewish and Islamic materials and demonstrates that, though Jewish, the poet firmly ensconces himself in a Persianate cultural sphere. In terms of containing both religious and non-religious works, Old Uyghur represents an important branch of historical Turkic languages. Its religious works are translations of texts related to deverse religous environments such as Buddhism, Manihaism and Nestorian Christianity. The largest share in terms of literary sources among these religions belongs to Buddhism. Buddhism has an important place in Old Uyghur literature with its many schools and many works related to Buddhist literature. This paper is about the edition of three fragments related to Old Uyghur of a commentary of Cheng weishi lun. Fragments edited here are preserved at the Turfan Collection, in the Berlin Brandenburg Academy of Sciences under the archive numbers Mainz 802-1 (fragment b) (T I D 1), Mainz 802-2 (fragment b) (T I D 2) and U 1342. These fragments form the 2nd and 3rd leaves of Old Uighur translation of a commentary of Cheng weishi lun, which is the 21st chapter of an Old Uyghur handwritten manuscript consisting of at least thirty chapters in the Berlin Turfan Collection. The manuscript The Hague, Koninklijke Bibliotheek, 75 H 57 is a one-column paper manuscript, which was probably made in Holland and, based on watermark research, must be dated around 1442. The content includes thirteen rhymed texts very different in nature and content. The previous editor of the text collection, Eelco Verwijs, characterized it as a whole with the title Van vrouwen ende van minne (Of women and love), but this designation only covers part of the contents. Indeed, some texts deal with courtly love and manners, others, on the other hand, are notable for comical anecdotes or sharp satire, such as a mockery of peasants and the quasi-by-laws for a guild of unsocials called the Blauwe Schuit (Blue Barge). We also find texts with a didactic tendency, and a cluster of rhyming maxims. The language differs from text to text. In addition to Dutch, a certain German coloring also regularly occurs, to varying degrees per text. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, this collection of texts was found as loose quires in the archives of the Egmond monastery by former state archivist Van Wijn. In 1821 he had it bound at his own expense. The manuscript is written in a littera cursiva by two collaborating copyists, A (f. 1r1-f. 27r1) and B (f. 27r2-f. 67v20). It consists of 6 quires, of which the first quire, originally a quintern, has lost its first leaf. Of the other quires, all sexterns, the last quire is missing the outer double leaf. In addition to these defects, the manuscript has numerous textual faults. Apart from obvious text corruption, whole sections are missing at the beginning or end of some texts. It is remarkable that copyist A, who in all likelihood was responsible for the final editing, signaled the breaking off of a text in several places by writing down closing formula’s like ‘Amen dico vobis’, ‘Amen sit laus’ or similar words. The Vanden Stock Manuscript (Brussels, KBR, II 116) is a small fifteenth-century manuscript counting 39 leaves made of paper with eight different watermarks, and can be divided in three codicological units, all written by the same scribe in an idiosyncratic hand. An examination of this hand and its corrections in the margins suggests that all units were copied for private use. The first unit (f. 1-22) – which lacks the first and eighth leaves of the first quire, and therefore the beginning of the first text – contains three clusters of texts: first three lists (questions and answers, advice on table manners and an excerpt from Seghelijn van Jherusalem); second three texts on the final judgement (memento mori) and the apocalyptic events surrounding it (a.o. an excerpt from Lucidarius); third several groups of sayings in which religious topics are present but not the main focus. Another text about the finality of life (Van tijtverlies) closes this unit. The second unit (one bifolio: f. 23-24) contains another group of sayings. The third unit (f. 25-37) contains a verse translation of the seven penitentiary psalms. Only after it was decided that the three units should be bound together, the final bifolio (f. 38-39), containing a single text, was added to the codex. This text, a so-called abc-darium, is the only prescriptive text in the codex, stressing its overall function: a collection of texts containing useful information concerning everyday life and the afterlife. The name giver of this codex, Olivier vanden Stock, was a sixteenth-century owner of the manuscript who wrote his name in de lower margin of f. 5r.

The paper codex handschrift-Serrure (Brussels KBR, II 144) codicologically and substantively consists of a number of parts: the first part (f. 1r–165v) is written by the hands A, B and C; the hands w, x, y and z each added a small text. The second part (f. 166r–169v) was copied by hand D. All hands are from the sixteenth century, only hands y and z are from the seventeenth century. Most of the codex is by hand A (f. 1r–113v), who possibly wrote around 1555 in the Dutch-German border area between Sittard, Maastricht and Aachen. The copyist used written sources for his collection of texts; he partly determined the systematic division of the text groups and chose clearly contemporary secular and spiritual texts with themes such as love and friendship, honor and happiness, wealth and poverty, death and life. Some Latin inscriptions and pseudo-Latin texts could indicate student use. The part of hand A mainly contains rhymed sayings and epigrams, sacred and secular songs, proverbs, love questions with answers, cisioiani, farcical sermons and parodies of prescriptions. Many texts are intended to be didactic or moralistic. After the texts of hand A a few leaves were originally left blank (f. 114r–121r). Then hand B (f. 121v–148r) wrote a large number of High German riddles, which are also known from the Straßburger Rätselbuch. After that hand C wrote on the leaves left blank (f. 114r–120r) love songs and spells. This hand C also wrote a collection of prescriptions after the riddles of hand B (f. 149v–165v). Finally hand D (f. 166r–169v) wrote a smaller collection of prescriptions for horses. It is unclear if this last quire was added to the codex when it was bound. Hands B, C and D all wrote at the end of the sixteenth century in a Dutch-German border dialect that can be found somewhat more northerly than the dialect of hand A.

The Heber-Serrure manuscript (Ghent, University Library, Ms. 1374) is a miscellany containing Middle Dutch rhyming texts, mostly ethical and didactic in content. Although the manuscript is not explicitly dated or localized, there is ample reason to assume that the codex was compiled near the end of the fourteenth century in the Carthusian monastery of Herne (about 18 miles southwest of Brussels). For a variety of reasons, this codex deserves our attention (and a new, modern edition), as it continues to fascinate both philologists and book historians. Until now, the Heber-Serrure manuscript has been primarily valued because of the many unique texts which it contains, including sizable excerpts from the Spiegel historiael (the Middle Dutch adaption of Vincent of Beauvais’ Speculum historiale) as well as a number of rare strophic poems by Jacob van Maerlant, but also the Rinclus. All of these works have already been edited in the past, based on the Heber-Serrure codex. These historic editions, however, were often heavily critical in orientation and appeared in isolation from one another, thus hindering our view on the joint survival of these works, as well as the original context in which this book was produced and meant to function. The present diplomatic edition aims to correct this situation. From the point of book history too, the Heber-Serrure manuscript present us with a remarkable object for scholarly study: the manuscript only contains rhyming texts, but these have been copied as continuous prose, most likely to save space (and time). Moreover, the available evidence suggests that the text collection wasn’t copied from a prior witness: in this manuscript, we can almost literally peak over the scribe’s shoulder, because we are dealing with a ‘growth miscellany’ that was composed in distinct phases, even though these phases were not meticulously planned beforehand. Based on the author's own translation of Foucault's masterpiece into Hungarian, it aims to show and to analyze some technical and philological difficulties, problems and/or questions regarding the French edition of the text as well as their reappearance in the English, German and Italian translation of Le courage de la vérité.

In meiner Dissertation behandle ich das geographische Traktat in der Weltgeschichte des Giyorgis Wäldä Amid, die in der Äthiopischen Literatur unter dem Namen Tarikä Wäldä ʾAmid bekannt ist und im Arabischen unter dem Namen seines Autors Ǧirǧis al-Makīn Ibn al-ʿAmīd oder als al-Maǧmūʿ al-mubārak "Die Gesegnete Sammlung". In meiner Teiledition habe ich alle verfügbaren Handschriften kollationiert, welche das geographische Traktat enthalten sowie eine Übersetzung ins Deutsche und ein Kommentar zu seinem geographischen Inhalt sowie auch zu seinen sprachlichen Eigenheiten. Ǧirǧis al-Makīn Ibn al-ʿAmīd, der Ältere wurde 1206 n. u. Z. in Kairo in eine anerkannte christliche Familie geboren. Wie einige seiner Vorfahren war Ǧirǧis Mitglied im Diwan des Heeres und hatte somit in der Zeit der letzten Ayyubiden-Sultane eine wichtige Funktion in der Militäradministration inne. Seine Position brachte ihm nicht nur Anerkennung sondern auch Schwierigkeiten. Er fiel in der darauffolgenden Phase der Mameluckenherrschaft in Ungnade und wurde mehrfach eingesperrt und des Hochverrats angeklagt, wie einige spätere Quellen berichten, welche auch von einem 15-jährigen Arrest in der Zeit des Mamlucken-Sultan Baybars erzählen. Eventuell schrieb al-Makīn seine Universalgeschichte während oder nach der Zeit seiner Inhaftierung. Ob al-Makīn für sein Werk ein hohes Maß an Originalität zuerkannt werden kann oder ob er vielmehr in weiten Teilen die Werke seiner Zeitgenossen Abu Šākir ibn al-Rāhib und Ibn al-Wāsil kopierte, ist weiterhin Gegenstand von Diskussionen. Die spätere Forschung tendiert zu der Annahme einer weitgehenden Übernahme der genannten beiden Quellen. Allein die hinteren Abschnitte seines Werkes, welche al-Makīns eigene Lebensspanne betreffen, stellen seine eigenen Ansichten dar. Der geographische Abschnitt ist im vorderen Teil der Weltgeschichte, der die vorislamische Geschichte behandelt, integriert - konkret an jener Stelle, die die Turmbau zu Babel und die Verwirrung der Sprachen und Zerstreuung der Völker bespricht. Jene Legende veranlasste den Autor eine Abhandlung über die behaupteten 72 Völkerschaften einzuschieben, die sich nach christlicher Überlieferung fortan über die bewohnte Welt entsprechend ihrer Herkunft in Semiten, Hamiten und Japhetiten aufteilten. Nach der Darstellung dieser überlieferten Völkerliste, die auf das Alte Testament, Genesis 10 zurückgeht, wird der/die Leser*in über vier Randzonen der Erde im Norden, Süden, Osten und Westen aufgeklärt, in denen lebensfeindliche Bedingungen mit entweder zu großer Kälte, Hitze, Trockenheit oder Nässe herrschten, während allein die Mitte davon bewohnbar sei. Die Beschreibung dieser mittleren, gemäßigten Zone geht sogleich in eine Beschreibung des Laufes der Sonne und des Mondes über, bevor dann die gemäßigte Zone weiter in sieben gleich große Klimazone aufgeteilt wird und die Zeit der maximalen Sonnenscheindauer angegeben wird. Diese Klimata werden in einem weiteren Textabschnitt ausführlicher mit Nennung zahlreicher Orte und Eigenarten ausgeführt, nachdem zuvor ihre Ausdehnung in Meilen, Parasangen, Grad und Tagesreisen berechnet wurde. Das geographische Traktat wird mit einer Beschreibung von zwei großen Weltozeanen - dem Indischen Meer und dem Atlantischen Ozean, abgeschlossen. Alle sieben Textabschnitte repräsentieren somit bestimmte Aspekte und distinkte Text-Genres der Historischen Geography, welche viele Jahrhunderte überdauerte und bis in vorchristliche Zeit zurückreichen. Das geographische Traktat enthält natürlicherweise eine große Zahl von Toponymen und Ethnonymen. Einige davon waren zur Zeit der Abfassung oder ihrer Übersetzung in das Äthiopische bereits veraltet und nicht mehr verständlich. Aufgrund verbreiteter Ambivalenzen in der arabischen und in der äthiopischen Schrift, sind diese zahlreichen Eigennamen häufig verfälscht oder komplett entstellt, so dass ihre Identifikation viel Mühe und einen wichtigen Teil der Arbeit ausmacht. Aufgrund von Divergenzen, die bei der Übertragung einer arabischen Textvorlage durch eine abweichende Setzung diakritischer Zeichen entstanden sind, konnte ich nachweisen, dass die Weltgeschichte des Ibn al-ʿAmīd in zwei unabhängigen Übersetzungen in das Äthiopische gekommen ist. Nach Hinweisen im Incipit und im Desinit einiger Handschriften, gelang es mir die Übersetzung der ersten Rezension (α-Rezension) in die Regierungszeit von König Zärʾa Yaʿqob (1434 bis 1468 n. u. Z.) zu datieren. Für die zweite Übersetzung konnte ich mit ähnlich großer Wahrscheinlichkeit eine Zeitspanne zwischen 1525 und 1540 während der Regierungszeit des Königs Ləbnä Dəngəl ermitteln. Im sprachwissenschaftlichen Teil meiner Dissertation beschäftige ich mich mit der eben angesprochenen großen Vielfalt und ambivalenten Orthographie der enthaltenen Eigennamen und bemühe mich um eine Systematisierung und Unterscheidung zwischen Entstellungen und Missverständnissen einerseits und divergierende, multiple Standart-Formen andererseits. Weiterhin konnte ich eine Reihe von arabisierenden Phänomenen im Übersetzungstext kenntlich machen. Dazu gehören arabisierende Namensformen, Adjektive mit der Nisbe-Endung auf -i, einige Fälle von spezifischer geographischer Terminologie, ideomatische Phraseologie sowie weitere Begriffe sowie auch die Konstruktion mit l-omu anstatt des im Gəʿəz sonst üblichen b-omu zur Bezeichnung von Besitz oder Zugehörigkeit in Entsprechung zum arabischen la-hum. Weitere Elemente sind die Konstruktion von wä- ... wä- ... als Entsprechung des arabischen wa-ʾammā ... fa ..., die Erscheinung von asyndetischen Attributivsätzen, Ordinalzahlen in Postposition sowie ein früher Beleg für die Verwendung des Schriftzeichens ሻ.

Eski Uygurca; dinî ve din dışı bir yazınsal geleneğe dayanmaktadır. Din dışı Eski Uygurca edebiyat; manzum ve mensur olarak ekseriyetle astronomi, takvim, tıp, hukuk konulu ve gündelik hayata ilişkin muhtelif meseleleri ilgilendiren vesikalardan oluşmaktadır. Dinî edebiyat ise başta Budizm olmak üzere İpek Yolu dinlerinin tesirinde gelişen bir tercüme faaliyetinin neticesidir. Budizm’in farklı ekollerinde kaleme alınmış başta sūtralar, abhidharmalar ve vinayalar olmak üzere muhtelif türlerdeki eserler Budist Uygur edebiyatını şekillendirmiştir. Bunların yanı sıra yine bu çerçevede hazırlanan muhtelif konulara ilişkin hacmi farklılık arz eden, ancak Sanskritçe Budist külliyattan hangi metnin parçası olduğu tespit edilemeyen fragmanlar da mevcuttur. Bu yazıda şimdiye kadar neşredilmemiş ve Sanskritçe Budist külliyattan hangi eserin parçası olduğu henüz belirlenememiş fragmanlar konu edilmiştir. Çalışmaya dâhil edilen fragmanların birkaçının konusunu Buddha Śākyamuni’nin taraftarları, Buddha’nın öğrencisi Śāriputra ve Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara oluşturmaktadır. Bu yazıyla Berlin Turfan Koleksiyonu’nda korunan 102 satır hacmindeki altı fragmanın neşri gerçekleştirilecektir. Bu altı fragmanın arşiv numaraları şöyledir: U 1422 (T I), U 1470 (o. F.), U 1471 (T I 185), U 1498 (T I α), U 3122 (T II Y 59) ve U 3159 (T III 218.500 / T III 218). Bu yazıda mezkûr fragmanların çeviri yazısı, harf çevirisi, Türkiye Türkçesine aktarımı, metne dair açıklamaları ve sözlük/dizini sunulacaktır., Old Uyghur is based on a religious and non-religious literary tradition. Non-religious Old Uyghur literature mostly consists of documents on astronomy, calendar, medicine, law and various issues related to daily life in verse and prose. Religious literature, on the other hand, is the result of a translation activity developed under the influence of Silk Road religions, especially Buddhism. The works written in different schools of Buddhism in various genres such as sūtras, abhidharmas and vinayas, formed the Buddhist Uyghur literature. In addition to these, there are also fragments from the Sanskrit Buddhist corpus, which differ in volume, on various topics prepared within this framework, but which text cannot be determined. In this paper, unpublished fragments from the Sanskrit Buddhist and which work has not yet been determined as a part are discussed. The subjects of some of the fragments included in the study are the followers of Buddha Śākyamuni, Buddha’s disciple Śāriputra, and the Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara. With this article, six fragments with a volume of 102 lines preserved in the Berlin Turfan Collection will be published. Archival numbers of these six fragments are as follows: U 1422 (T I), U 1470 (o. F.), U 1471 (T I 185), U 1498 (T I α), U 3122 (T II Y 59) and U 3159 (T III 218,500 / T III 218). In this paper, the transcription of the aforementioned fragments, transliteration, translation into Turkish, explanations of the text and the glossary/index will be presented.

Samuel Reuss, a precursor of modern Slovak ethnography from the first half of the 19th c., collected numerous Slovak folk tales on which he wrote detailed commentaries in German. His commentaries include numerous quotations from various sources, e.g. Classics, historiographical and geographical works etc. thus proving Reuss' tremendous encyclopedic knowledge. Both folk tales and commentaries are contained in three hitherto unpublished manuscripts known as Codexy revúcke. The present article examines Reus' quotations from the point of view of their critical edition and differentiates between three categories: 1) quotations whose sources are correctly mentioned; 2) correct quotations but with incorrect reference to their sources: 3) paraphrases of sources. The article discusses possibilities of identifying the sources from which Reuss quoted and suggests possible solutions to presenting the quotations in a critical edition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Old Uyghur developed on the basis of religious and non-religious literature. While non-religious literature constitutes civil documents related to daily life, religious literature mainly constitutes the translation of literary sources related to circles such as Buddhism, Manichaeism and Nestorian Christianity. Among these, Buddhism has the largest place when it comes to the translation of religious literature. In fact, Buddhism does not take place among the Uyghurs with a single school. Northern Buddhism, or Mahāyāna school, in other words, and many schools, whether they originated in India or not, are traced in Buddhist Uyghur literature. Tibetan Buddhism is also a school that has a place in the Buddhist Uyghur literature, whose existence was witnessed especially in the last period of the Qocho Uyghur Khanate [850-1250] with its literary sources. Tibetan Buddhism, which is essentially based on Vajrayāna or Tantric Buddhism and blended with the Tibetan local religion Bön, has found its place in Tibet and Mongolia today. At this point, Sitatapatrādhāraṇī, which is also the subject of this paper, is a text written in this tradition. In this paper, three fragments identified as belonging to the Old Uyghur Sitātapatrādhāraṇī and preserved today in the Berlin Turfan Collection with archival numbers U 2250 (T I [544]), U 2251 (T I [545]) and U 2252 (T I [546]) will be examined. The philological edition of these fragments, which have not been published until now, will be carried out., Eski Uygurca; dinî ve din dışı bir yazın temelinde gelişmiştir. Din dışı yazını gündelik yaşama ilişkin sivil belgeler oluştururken, dinî yazını esasen Budizm, Manihaizm ve Nasturi Hristiyanlık gibi muhitlere ilişkin yazınsal kaynakların tercümesi oluşturmaktadır. Dinî yazınsal kaynakların tercümesi söz konusu olduğunda, bunlar arasında da en büyük pay Budizm’e aittir. Esasen Budizm, Uygurlar arasında tek bir ekolüyle yer almaz. Kuzey Budizmi yahut bir diğer adıyla Mahāyāna ekolü başta olmak üzere Hindistan menşeli olsun olmasın birçok ekolün Budist Uygur edebiyatında izleri görülmektedir. Tibet Budizmi de Hoço Uygur Hanlığı’nın [850-1250] özellikle son döneminde yazınsal kaynaklarıyla varlığı tanıklanan ve Budist Uygur edebiyatında kendine yer edinen bir ekoldür. The text (with traces of archaic archetype) is a unique copy of the compilation. The history of the manuscript is very interesting, because it belonged to the A. Hilferding collection in the past. The aim of the author is to propose a preliminary analysis of the text, its origin and chronology, as well as its context in the Slavic tradition.

This article presents the project of an on-line atlas of Old Italian based on the corpus of the Opera del Vocabolario Italiano. The «points» on the atlas are the places which have testi significativi («significant texts», i.e. those which better represent the local variety). The forms are provided with different types of information: lexical (belonging to a lexical item of the corpus), morphosyntactic (inflexional categories) and historical-phonological (e.g. relationship of legno with Latin L‑, tonic Ǐ, -GN‑, -U). The atlas will help both the editor and the linguist: the first will find a grid which will assist him in localizing texts, the latter will have a tool to observe geolinguistic patterns or to reconstruct the system he is studying. International audience; An overview of recent editions of Greek texts from Christian Antiquity is provided, with particular attention to the question of theories and methods of edition. First, we recall the main methods involved: the Lachmannian method, corrected or not by historical approaches, New Philology, etc. In a second step, we go through some large collections of editions of patristic texts, in order to identify their specificities and study their main recent productions; these are successively examined: Athanasius Werke; Gregorii Nysseni Opera; Die griechischen christlichen Schriftsteller der ersten Jahrhunderte; Patristische Texte und Studien; Corpus christianorum, series graeca; Sources chrétiennes. Some special cases are then considered: single-witness texts; treatment of overabundant traditions and phylogenetic methods; partial editions; anthologies, exegetical catenae and compilations. Finally, we propose a general reflection on the changes introduced in the editing process by the introduction of digital technologies, up to and including electronic edition itself.; On propose un panorama des éditions récentes de textes grecs de l’Antiquité chrétienne, en prêtant une attention particulière à la question des théories et des méthodes d’édition. Sanskritçe Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra Mahāyāna Budizmi’nin önemli sūtralarından biridir. Metnin Sanskritçesi yanında Çince, Tibetçe, Moğolca, Soğdca, Hoten Sakacası ve Eski Uygurca versiyonları da mevcuttur. Eski Uygurca Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra bugün Berlin, Kyōto ve İstanbul’da bulunan fragmanlardan oluşan bir metindir. Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra kadar bu metin üzerine yazılmış tefsirler de oldukça önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bunlar içerisinde özellikle Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra tefsirinin Eski Uygurca tercümesine ait fragmanlar bugün Berlin Turfan Koleksiyonu’nda korunmaktadır. Eski Uygurca Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra tefsiri 48 fragman üzerine tesis edilmiştir ve 811 satır hacmindedir. Bu çalışmanın konusunu ise Eski Uygurca Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra tefsirine ait şimdiye kadar neşredilmemiş fragmanlar oluşturmaktadır. Tıpkı diğer fragmanlar gibi bu çalışmada ele alınan fragmanlar da Berlin Turfan Koleksiyonu’nda korunmaktadır. Çalışmaya esas alınan fragmanların Eski Uygurca Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra tefsirine ait olduğunun tespiti ve bununla birlikte ayrıntılı ve kapsamlı katalog bilgileri Simone-Christiane Raschmann tarafından yapılmıştır. Raschmann tarafından tespit edilen ve bu çalışmaya dâhil edilen fragmanların sayısı beştir ve arşiv numaraları sırasıyla şöyledir: U 2641 (T II 1080), U 3180 (T III B T.V. 51), U 3181 (T III B T.V. 51), U 3182 (T III B T.V. 51) ve U 3183 (T III B T.V. 51). Bu yazıda Eski Uygurca Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra tefsirine ait ve bahsi geçen arşiv numaralarına sahip fragmanların yazı çevirimi ve harf çevirisi, Türkiye Türkçesine aktarımı, dizininin/sözlüğünün hazırlanması amaçlanmıştır., Sanskrit Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra is one of the important sūtras of Mahāyāna Buddhism. In addition to Sanskrit, Chinese, Tibetan, Mongolian, Sogdian, Khotanese and Old Uyghur versions of the text are also available. Old Uyghur Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra is a text composed of fragments preserved today in Berlin, Kyōto, and Istanbul. Commentaries on this text are as important as the Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra. Among these, fragments of the Old Uyghur commentary on the Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra are preserved in the Berlin Turfan Collection today. Old Uyghur commentary on the Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra is based on 48 fragments and has 811 lines. The subject of this paper is the fragments of the Old Uyghur commentary on the Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra that have not been published until now. Just like other fragments, the fragments edited in this paper are also preserved in the Berlin Turfan Collection. The identification that the fragments based on the paper belong to the Old Uyghur commentary on the Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra and comprehensive catalog information are presented by Simone-Christiane Raschmann. The number of fragments identified by Raschmann and included in this paper is five, and their archive numbers are as follows: U 2641 (T II 1080), U 3180 (T III B T.V. 51), U 3181 (T III B T.V. 51), U 3182 (T III B T.V. 51) and U 3183 (T III B T.V. 51). In this paper, it is aimed to transcribe and transliterate the fragments of the Old Uyghur commentary on the Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra with the aforementioned archive numbers, to translate them to Turkish, and to prepare the index / glossary.
