Purpose: Up to now, there is no generally accepted biomarker to indicate the clinical response of immunotherapy. This study mainly analyzed the correlation between eosinophil cationic protein-myeloperoxidase (ECP-MPO) test papers and other immunotherapy indices in subcutaneous immunotherapy of dust mites and to explore whether the test paper can be used as an auxiliary index to quickly evaluate the efficacy of immunotherapy. Patients and methods: This study included 53 participants who received subcutaneous immunotherapy at the allergy clinic of Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University and 28 control participants. Six visits were conducted during a prospective study over one year. The results of the ECP-MPO test paper, nasal secretion eosinophil smear and count, nasal secretion ECP concentration, and clinical symptom scores were collected during five follow-up visits after the start of subcutaneous immunotherapy. Th1/Th2/Th17 cytokines, chemokines, IgE, IgG4 against dust mite components, and ECP concentrations were detected in the serum of participants at baseline, six months, and one year after subcutaneous immunotherapy. Results: The ECP test paper is not only easy to operate, but also can effectively and quickly detect the concentrations of ECP in the nasal secretion and diagnose allergic rhinitis. Symptom score is an important index for evaluating clinical immune efficacy, during subcutaneous immunotherapy, the ECP test paper showed a positive correlation with the symptom score. Simultaneously, during immunotherapy, the changes in the chromogenic grading of the test paper were synchronized with the changes in inflammatory cytokines and eosinophilic chemokines in Th2 cells of serum dust mite IgE. The sIgG4 against dust mites weakly negatively correlated with the concentration of ECP in nasal secretions and the color classification of the ECP test paper. Conclusion: The ECP-MPO test paper has a certain correlation with subcutaneous immunotherapy markers of allergic rhinitis, indicating that the ECP test paper may become an auxiliary biomarker to replace other complex laboratory tests. In the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA), dry eye disease (DED) is often misdiagnosed or overlooked. This review summarizes a series of conversations with ophthalmologists in the region around a variety of climatic, lifestyle, and iatrogenic factors that contribute to specific features of DED in the MENA region. These considerations are further classified by patient lifestyle and surgical choices. All statements are based on discussions and formal voting to achieve consensus over three meetings. Overall, a deeper understanding of the disease characteristics of DED specific to MENA can better guide local eyecare practitioners on appropriate management and follow-up care. Additionally, population-based studies and patient and physician education on ocular surface diseases, together with the use of culturally appropriate and language-specific questionnaires can help ease the public health burden of DED in this region. The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes the right of individuals with dementia and their family caregivers to access interventions that enhance their participation in society. Reablement is an approach that enables older people to participate in meaningful daily and social activities. Over the past decade, a growing body of evidence has underscored reablement as a promising approach within dementia care, including positive outcomes for people with dementia and their family caregivers, and cost-effectiveness. However, the dissemination of knowledge about and practical implementation of reablement remain slow. This position paper, authored by the ReableDEM research network, aims to address key issues related to implementing reablement in dementia care. To expedite the adoption of reablement within dementia care, we propose five critical areas of focus: 1) Changing the attitudes and expectations of stakeholders (eg health and social care staff, policy makers, funders) – encouraging people to think about dementia as a disability from a biopsychosocial perspective; 2) Disrupting health and social care - A radical change is needed in the way services are organized so that they are more holistic, personalized and resource-oriented; 3) Investing in capacity-building and creating a supportive environment – the workforce needs to be trained and supported to implement reablement in dementia care; 4) Involving, educating and supporting family caregivers - services and staff that are equipped to provide reablement will be better able to involve family caregivers and the person's social network; 5) Providing robust evidence about reablement in dementia care by conducting high-quality research with long-term follow-up. Purpose: To develop and evaluate the effectiveness/clinical application of an eosinophil cationic protein-myeloperoxidase (ECP-MPO) test paper before and after treatment in patients with allergic rhinitis (AR). Patients and Methods: We included 40 controls and 106 AR patients who were enrolled in the Allergy Clinic of Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University. Total IgE, specific IgE and skin prick test (SPT) were detected in all participants. AR patients were treated with oral cetirizine hydrochloride for 14 days. The ECP-MPO test paper results, nasal secretion smear and eosinophil counts, rhinoconjunctivitis total nasal symptom score (TNSS), quality of life questionnaire (RQLQ), visual analogue scale (VAS), serum Th1/Th2/Th17 cytokine, and chemokine data were collected pre- and post-treatment. ECP concentrations in nasal secretions were assessed by ELISA. Pearson correlation test and Kappa consistency test were used for statistical analysis. Results: The post-treatment colour grade of the ECP-MPO test paper was lower in AR patients than the pre-treatment grade. The chromogenic grade correlated positively with the ECP concentration and the eosinophil count in nasal secretions both before and after treatment. Positive ECP-MPO test paper results were consistent with positive SPT, Der p-IgE and Der f-IgE result (Kappa values, 0.843, 0.810, 0.795, respectively). The pre- and post-treatment chromogenic grades correlated positively with the TNSS (r1=0· 691; r2=0· 539), RQLQ (r1=0· 783; r2=0· 625), and VAS (r1=0· 703; r2=0· 682) scores in AR patients. Conclusion: The ECP-MPO test paper can effectively detect ECP in nasal secretions, and its results are consistent with those from the SPT, Der p-IgE and Der f-IgE result. The aim of this mixed methods systematic review was to synthesize contemporary evidence on effectiveness of community-based allied health (AH) services on acute care utilizations and views from relevant stakeholders. An a priori protocol was registered with PROSPERO [CRD42023437013]. Inclusion criteria were: (a) stand-alone interventions led by practitioners/graduates from one or more target AH professions (audiology, exercise physiology, diabetes educator, nutrition and dietetics, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, podiatry, psychology, social work, and speech pathology); (b) examined acute care utilization-related outcomes with/without perceptions of relevant stakeholders; and (c) published after 2010 and in English. Eligible studies were identified from: (a) bibliographic databases (MEDLINE, Embase, EmCare, PsycINFO, CINAHL complete, and the Cochrane Library) (September 19, 2023); (b) online databases (ProQuest Central and ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global) and theses repository (Trove) (September 20, 2023); (c) Google and Google Scholar (October 17– 18, 2023); and (d) citation searching. A modified version of McMaster Critical Appraisal Tools and McGill Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool were used to assess methodological quality. Data synthesis was through convergent segregated approach. Certainty of evidence was assessed using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation. There were 67 included papers. The integrated quantitative and qualitative findings demonstrated mixed evidence, likely influenced by the heterogeneity of the evidence base, for the effectiveness of AH services on acute care utilizations. Patients and their carers were largely positive about these services, highlighting opportunities to build on these experiences. The certainty of evidence for patient-important outcomes was however "very low", emphasizing cautious interpretation. The findings of this review shed light on the breadth and scope of AH in the community sector, and its potential impact on the acute sector. Background: In recent years, the incidence of herpes zoster has risen steeply, the exact pathogenesis of the acute pain and the transformation into postherpetic neuralgia are still obscure, and the absence of effective management remains a major therapeutic challenge. The purpose of this study was to perform a qualitative and quantitative bibliometric analysis of the 100 most cited papers on herpes zoster. Materials and methods: Related literature were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. Excel and VOSviewer software were applied to quantitatively analyze, and construct the bibliometric network charts. Results: The Top 100 most-cited papers published between 2000 and 2018 showed a fluctuating downward trend. The most studies were published in the year of 2000 (n = 12). The article entitled "A vaccine to prevent herpes zoster and postherpetic neuralgia in older adults" from Oxman MN, was the most-cited publication. The United States was the most contributing country, followed by the United Kingdom, and Italy. Finland occupied the highest citations per publication (CPP). The University of Colorado topped the list of institutions with the most publications with 18 articles and also had the most citations (average citations: 281.78 per article). Myron J Levin from the University of Colorado School of Medicine is the most published and most cited researcher overall, whereas Duke University's John W Gnann tops the list in terms of average CPP. Conclusion: In terms of the quantity of T100 articles, researchers, and organizations, the US is the predominant country. The most T100 papers were published in the special journal Clinical Infectious Diseases. The concept of intrinsic capacity (IC) revolves around healthy aging and active aging. Since the Introduction of the concept by the World Health Organization in 2015, a series of studies have been conducted by scholars from multiple fields. However, no bibliometric analysis has systematically investigated this issue. We aim to identify the current landscape and frontier trends of scientific achievements on IC in older adults through bibliometric approaches. Methods: Quantitative analysis of publications relating to IC in older adults from 2015 to 2023 was interpreted and graphed through the Web of Science Core Collection database on December 5, 2023. A variety of quantitative variables was analyzed, including publication and citation counts, H-index, and journal citation reports. Co-authorship, citation, co-citation, and co-occurrence analyses were performed for countries/regions, institutions, authors, and keywords using the VOSviewer and CiteSpace. Results: A total of 952 original and review articles in English were identified. The European countries possessed an absolute advantage in this field. The most contributive institution was the University of São Paulo. The most productive author is Cesari Matteo from France, followed by Qaisar Rizwan from the United Arab Emirates. However, a relatively low level of research cooperation existed between institutions and authors. Important topics mainly include the connotations, theoretical framework models, evaluation, screening tools, and application scenarios of IC. Among the promising hotspots, "biological aging", "ICOPE", "Covid-19", "prevention", "inflammation", "caf22", "prevalence", and "randomized controlled trial" displayed relatively latest average appearing year. Conclusion: Global trends indicate a growing scientific output on IC in older adults, and developed countries are leading the way. There is still room for improvement in research team collaboration. The focus gradually shifts from theoretical research to empirical research. Purpose: To analyze the top 100 most-cited papers on pars intravitreal injections. Methods: Literature search using the bibliographic databases of the ISI Web of Knowledge for all types of publications on intravitreal injections published between 1965 and 2019 in peer-reviewed journals. Results: Eighty-three of the top 100 papers on intravitreal injections were published in ophthalmology journals, their majority in the top five Q1 leading journals in the field. They originated from 16 different countries, predominantly from the USA (n=52), and were all published in English. These manuscripts cover a wide spectrum of topics but were mostly focused on retinal diseases (n=60) and the use of anti-VEGF or steroid agents (n=75). Discussion: This bibliographic study provides a unique perspective on the evolution and assimilation of intravitreal injections, from their introduction, through their present role as the most common therapeutic procedure in ophthalmology, to future developments. Purpose: Smartphone-based questionnaires have advantages compared with their paper versions, but there is a lack of consistent research on depressive disorder questionnaires. This study aimed to assess the equivalence between the paper and smartphone versions of the Quick Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology-Self-Report (QIDS-SR16) and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) for patients with depressive disorders in psychiatric hospitals in China. Patients and Methods: This was a randomized crossover study of 110 depressed patients recruited from the outpatient department of Beijing Anding Hospital from March 2016 to September 2018. Group 1 completed both the QIDS-SR16 and PHQ-9 in paper format and then completed the smartphone version 1– 2 h later. Group 2 completed the scales in the reverse order. Reliability was evaluated using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) with 95% confidence intervals (CI). The expected ICC was 0.9 (α=0.05). Results: The overall ICC score of the QIDS-SR16 paper and smartphone versions was 0.904 (95% CI: 0.861– 0.934), and the ICCs of each item ranged from 0.769 to 0.923. The overall ICC score of the PHQ-9 paper and smartphone versions was 0.951 (95% CI: 0.929– 0.967), and the ICCs of each item ranged from 0.779 to 0.914. This article is a response to a previous paper on the influence of pre-operative parameters on laser refractive surgery outcomes. The author agrees with the findings of the previous paper and suggests that examining epithelial thickness data would further enhance the analysis. The author also criticizes the use of a fixed Gullstrand model in understanding errors in laser refractive surgery outcomes and argues for the acceptance of biological variables that cannot be easily accounted for. Purpose: To validate a paper-based visual acuity (PBVA) questionnaire. Methods: In 2015, a cross-sectional survey was conducted among 301 young and middle-aged, mostly male, Japanese subjects. The participants were asked to self-rate their visual acuity (VA) on a scale from 1 to 5. Self-ratings of VA were categorized into three groups: good (1 and 2), normal (3), and poor (4 and 5). For objective validation, we performed a functional VA (FVA) assessment in the same subjects. Results: A total of 301 subjects answered the PBVA and completed the FVA test including initial VA. We found out that the result of PBVA was significantly correlated with FVA test and initial VA (r=0.33, P<0.0001, r=0.273, P,0.0001). The trend test analysis between PBVA and FVA also showed statistically significant (P<0.0001). Conclusion: There was a significant statistical correlation between the PBVA and the FVA, as well as the initial VA. This short questionnaire on VA might be a sensitive tool that is easy to implement and utilized in large epidemiological and clinical researches. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to examine the global scientific output of research on patient delay and explore the hotspots and frontiers from 2000 to 2023 through bibliometric analysis. Methods: Publications regarding patient delay published from 2000 to 2023 were extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC). Subsequently, CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Bibliometrix Online Analysis Platform were used to analyze publications, countries, institutions, authors, journals, and keywords. Results: A total of 721 papers were included in the study. The publication output increased from 20 papers in 2000 to 64 papers in 2023, a remarkable 220.00% growth. The USA (138 papers) and University of California San Francisco (21 papers) were identified as the most productive country and institution, respectively. Moser (10 papers), and Dracup (10 papers) are the most productive authors. "BMC Public Health" (24 publications) is the most productive journal. "Patient Delay" was the most cited keyword, with high-frequency keywords such as "Prehospital Delay", "Symptoms", "Time", "Care", "Diagnosis", "Acute Myocardial-infarction", and "Mortality" signaling hot topics in Patient Delay. Conclusion: There are increasingly many papers on patient delay. However, there has been limited development of cooperation between countries and institutions. In the future, collaboration between countries and institutions should be strengthened. Purpose: To evaluate the new Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) Aurum database, we estimated 'correctness' (ie accuracy, validity) and 'completeness' (ie presence, missingness) of malignant breast cancer diagnoses recorded in CPRD Aurum compared to external linked data sources: Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) Admitted Patient Care (APC), HES Outpatient (OP), and Cancer Registry (CR), and to the previously validated CPRD GOLD.Methods: Linkage-eligible, female patients with incident malignant breast cancer diagnosis recorded in at least one study data source were selected. Correctness was the proportion of malignant breast cancer cases recorded in CPRD Aurum or GOLD who also had a diagnosis recorded in HES APC/OP (2004– 2019) or CR (2004– 2016). Completeness was estimated by identifying all malignant breast cancer diagnoses in HES APC/OP or CR and calculating the proportion with a concordant diagnosis in CPRD Aurum or GOLD.Results: Compared to HES APC/OP, there were 85,659 and 31,452 eligible patients in CPRD Aurum and GOLD, respectively. Correctness estimates were high (CPRD Aurum 83.5%, GOLD 81.7%). Compared to CR, there were 70,190 and 29,597 eligible patients in CPRD Aurum and GOLD, respectively: correctness was 89.1% for CPRD Aurum and 88.2% for GOLD. Completeness estimates for CPRD Aurum and GOLD were high (> 90%). Diagnoses were recorded in CPRD Aurum within − 7 to 74 days of those in the linked sources. Reasons for discordant diagnostic coding included presence of treatment or other clinical codes only, diagnosis coded after end of follow-up, non-malignant breast cancer in linked data, and administrative codes in lieu of diagnostic codes.Conclusion: These results indicate that correctness and completeness of malignant breast cancer diagnoses in CPRD Aurum were high and similar to CPRD GOLD. Purpose: To report distribution of codes associated with a rheumatoid arthritis (RA) diagnosis recorded in Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) Aurum compared to the previously validated CPRD GOLD database as a critical step toward making decisions about CPRD Aurum's suitability for medical research.Patients and Methods: We analyzed the distribution of codes for RA diagnoses, labs, and treatments in the new CPRD Aurum database, compared to the CPRD GOLD database by selecting relevant indicators of RA diagnosis, treatment, and clinical care. We included all patients in England in CPRD Aurum and CPRD GOLD with an incident diagnosis code for RA on or after 1 January 2005 and at least two years recorded data before first RA diagnosis.Results: We found 53,083 and 18,167 patients with a new diagnosis code for RA in CPRD Aurum and CPRD GOLD, respectively. In both databases approximately 67% were female with similar mean ages at first diagnosis. There were few differences in RA-related recording patterns between the two data sources. Before first RA diagnosis, CPRD Aurum patients had more RA-specific labs and other supporting clinical codes. After diagnosis, CPRD Aurum patients had more RA diagnoses coded and more often had 10+ general RA labs than patients in CPRD GOLD. More CPRD GOLD patients had 10+ prescriptions for conventional disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (cDMARD) compared to CPRD Aurum. Otherwise, the distribution of drugs used to treat RA was similar between databases. The standardized incidence of RA was similar between databases.Conclusion: Overall, among patients with a diagnosis code for RA, recording of diagnoses, prescription drugs, and labs were similar between CPRD Aurum and CPRD GOLD. Slight differences were found for a few variables, but overall, we found consistency between the databases. In addition, standardized incidence of RA was similar between databases. Purpose: To evaluate the presence of data elements related to diagnosis and treatment of malignant breast cancer in CPRD Aurum compared to those in the previously validated CPRD GOLD.Methods: Females in CPRD Aurum or GOLD with a first-time code for malignant breast cancer, mastectomy, or ≥ 1 prescription for tamoxifen or aromatase inhibitors (2004– 2019) were selected. We compared the presence of the codes for breast cancer diagnosis, surgeries (mastectomy, lumpectomy), tamoxifen and aromatase inhibitor prescriptions, radiation, chemotherapy, and supporting clinical codes (suspected breast cancer, lump symptoms, biopsy, lumpectomy, cancer care, referral/visit to specialist, palliative care). Age standardized incidence rates of breast cancer diagnosis in CPRD Aurum and GOLD were calculated.Results: There were 131,936 eligible patients in CPRD Aurum and 69,102 patients in GOLD. A similar proportion of patients in CPRD Aurum and GOLD had codes for breast cancer diagnosis, mastectomy, drug prescriptions, lump, biopsy, lumpectomy, chemotherapy, and cancer and palliative care coded in their electronic record during follow-up. However, suspected breast cancer, radiation, and referral/visits to specialists were coded more frequently in patients in CPRD Aurum compared to GOLD. Age-standardized incidence rates were similar for CPRD Aurum and GOLD.Conclusion: Overall, there was consistency between data elements related to malignant breast cancer recorded in CPRD Aurum and GOLD, particularly for the most informative clinical details. These findings provide reassurance that breast cancer information recorded in CPRD Aurum is generally comparable to that recorded in the previously validated CPRD GOLD and support the use of CPRD Aurum for breast cancer research. This document is a response to a letter to the editor regarding a paper on variable biologic-based factors in determining laser refractive surgery outcomes. The authors thank the respondent for their insights and agree with some of the points made. They acknowledge that epithelial thickness changes can affect corneal response to refractive surgeries and mention this in their paper. They also agree that not all sources of error can be quantified in the context of refractive surgery. The authors outline correlations between preoperative characteristics and changes in keratometry and spherical equivalent, but do not incorporate these correlations into specific nomograms. They disagree with using a fixed Gullstrand model as the sole metric for understanding error in refractive surgery and acknowledge that there are other factors that influence outcomes. In the last decade, there has been a significant advancement in the area of regional anesthesia (RA). Continuous evaluation of research in any developing field using modern technologies and available software is critical to identify future trends, hot spots, and intellectual dynamics. The current study was designed to bibliometrically evaluate the global research in RA using VOSviewer, MS Excel, and CVS-Scopus bibliographic data (2012– 2021). Knowledge structure and intellectual dynamics were analyzed using clustering of keyword co-occurrence. Literature screening in the last decade found 6092 original articles (96.1%) and conference papers (3.9%). The top four countries producing articles were the United States (n = 30.57%), India (7.51), the United Kingdom (7.22%), and Canada (6.06%). A significant positive correlation was found in global publication productivity (R2 = 0.9161). The most productive organizations were Harvard University, the University of Toronto, and the Hospital for Special Surgery – New York. A tremendous collaboration was spotted nationally and internationally, especially in pediatric RA. This comprehensive study, which summarizes and evaluates 6902 original research materials on regional anesthesia, may serve as a resource for anesthesiologists, physicians, researchers, and students. Purpose: The present study aimed to investigate how prior research of TTRPG revealed the benefits of TTRPG as a psychological intervention and how further studies can overcome the challenges and limitations of TTRPG in those previous studies. Methods: The study used Scoping Review to explore the potential benefits of TTRPG. Three research questions were identified (1) the extent to which empirical research has been conducted regarding TTRPG as intervention, (2) the potential of TTRPG mentioned, and (3) the suggestions for future research. The study investigated the last 10 years (ie, 2013 to 2023) of research publications with all research methods included. The search focused on key terms of "Tabletop Role-playing Game", "TTRPG", "Dungeons and Dragons", and terms related to intervention. The databases used were in English and Indonesian and resulted in 109 papers but later eliminated due to various reasons until it became 51 papers to be reviewed. Results: Of the 51 papers included for final analysis, majority are of exploratory approach (n = 35; eg, literature review and qualitative design studies), indicating that research in TTRPG is still at the emerging stage. Quantitative design studies (n = 12) and mixed-method design studies (n = 4) on TTRPG are the minority. Majority papers (n = 30) are published in the United States, only three papers published in the Asian context, indicating that TTRPG research in the Asian context is scarce. Conclusion: From existing literature, TTRPG provides benefits to promote cognitive and psychosocial skills, to prevent negative effects and stress, as well as to intervene in psychological problems such as social anxiety, depressive symptoms, and autism spectrum disorders. Further studies can explore the use of TTRPG in Asia-representing collectivistic culture, to employ different systems of TTRPG and to examine the effects of TTRPG using experimental design to overcome the limitations of prior studies. Introduction: The recently developed DOT-MGA (direct-on-target microdroplet growth assay) has shown the desirability of direct application of this approach in positive blood cultures and its good performance in detection. This study selected 44 Enterobacteriaceae strains and implemented a DOT-MGA assay on blood cultures to detect their resistance to seven antibiotics. The results of DOT-MGA were compared with the other two antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) methods to analyze the detection performance of DOT-MGA. Methods: We adopted the differential centrifugation to process positive blood-culture (BC). Processed BC broth was directly used for rapid AST using DOT-MGA. Droplets of 6 μL with and without antibiotics at the EUCAST breakpoint concentration were spotted in triplicates onto the surface of a MALDI target. The plates were incubated in a wet box for 4 h before the broth was removed with filter paper. Bruker Biotyper software was used to analyze the test results compared with standard database, and the scores were used to quantify and determine the results. Results: DOT-MGA results were compared with the direct-from-BC disk-diffusion method and results were reported by broth microdilution method, respectively. The comparison demonstrated a 100% growth efficiency in DOT-MGA, a 100% classification consistency for ampicillin, ceftriaxone, and gentamicin, and > 93% classification consistency for tobramycin, aztreonam, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX), and ceftazidime. Discussion: These study results have shown that DOT-MGA is suitable for directly identifying bacterial resistance to positive blood cultures in clinical microbiology laboratories. Furthermore, it is conducive for early diagnosis and treatment of patients with bloodstream infection due to its convenience, time efficiency, and good performance in identifying multiple antibiotic-insensitive bacteria. The aim is to inform clinicians, patients, and health-care policy makers about strategies of survivorship care for cured cancer patients and consequences impacting patient lives, spurring public health authorities and research organizations to implement resources to the purpose. Two identifiable, measurable, and reproducible indicators of cancer cure are presented. Cure fraction (CF) is > 60% for breast and prostate cancer patients, > 50% for colorectal cancer patients, and > 70% for patients with melanoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, and cancers of corpus uteri, testis (> 90%), and thyroid. CF was > 65% for patients diagnosed at ages 15– 44 years and 30% for those aged 65– 74 years. Time-to-cure was consistently < 1 year for thyroid and testicular cancer patients and < 10 years for patients with colorectal and cervical cancers, melanoma, and Hodgkin lymphoma. The working group agrees that the evidence allows risk stratification of cancer patients and implementation of personalized care models for timely diagnosis, as well as treatment of possible cancer relapses or related long-term complications, and preventive measures aimed at maintaining health status of cured patients. These aspects should be integrated to produce an appropriate follow-up program and survivorship care plan(s), avoiding stigma and supporting return to work, to a reproductive life, and full rehabilitation. Background: Subjects with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D) experience abdominal cramping, bloating, pressure, and pain. Due to an absence of clinical biomarkers for IBS-D severity, evaluation of clinical therapy benefits depends on valid and reliable symptom assessments. A patient-reported outcome (PRO) instrument has been developed, comprising of two questionnaires - the IBS-D Daily Symptom Diary and IBS-D Symptom Event Log - suitable for clinical trials and real-world settings. This program aimed to support instrument conversion from pen-and-paper to electronic format., Materials and Methods: Digital technology (Android/iOS) and a traditional mode of administration study in the target population were used to migrate or convert the validated PRO IBS-D pen-and-paper measure to an electronic format. Equivalence interviews, conducted in three waves, each had three parts: 1) conceptual equivalence testing between formats, 2) electronic-version report-history cognitive debriefing, and 3) electronic version usability evaluation. After each inter-view wave, preliminary analyses were conducted and modifications made to the electronic version, before the next wave. Final revisions were based on a full analysis of equivalence interviews. The final analysis evaluated subjects' ability to read, understand, and provide meaningful responses to the instruments across both formats. Responses were classified according to conceptual equivalence between formats and mobile-format usability assessed with a questionnaire and open-ended probes., Results: Equivalence interviews (n=25) demonstrated conceptual equivalence between formats. Mobile-application cognitive debriefing showed some subjects experienced difficulty with font/screen visibility and understanding or reading some report-history charts and summary screens. To address difficulties, minor revisions/modifications were made and landscape orientation and zoom-in/zoom-out features incorporated., Conclusion: This study indicates that the two administration modes are conceptually equivalent. Since both formats are conceptually equivalent, both are psychometrically reliable, as established in the pen-and-paper version. Purpose: Traditionally, medical school pathology educators have used formalin-fixed specimens to demonstrate effects of diseases on target organs, despite the handling of these "wet" tissues having distinct disadvantages, such as the need for gloves, protective clothing, and appropriate facilities to limit potential fixative moisture and fumes. Paper-mounted sections of solid organs have significant potential as an aid for teaching gross pathology and eliminate the disadvantages of handling formalin-fixed specimens. However, published techniques for preparing giant organ sections include the use of the highly toxic ethylene glycol monoethyl ether (EGEE; 2-ethoxyethanol). We investigated whether replacing EGEE with a less toxic dehydrating and clearing agent, Histo-Clear™, would allow production of high-quality sections. Materials and methods: Whimster' s procedure for preparing rapid paper sections of lungs and other organs was modified to incorporate the xylene substitute Histo-Clear in place of EGEE. Results: Giant paper sections of various organs were prepared. In addition to lungs, excellent pathology teaching specimens were prepared from other organs, including the brain, heart, kidney, liver, and colon. Side-by-side comparisons of paper-mounted organ sections prepared using EGEE and Histo-Clear were indistinguishable. The sections prepared using Histo-Clear showed fine anatomical and pathological details. Conclusion: The Gough--Wentworth technique of preparing rapid giant paper sections of organs was made less toxic without sacrificing quality by using Histo-Clear as an alternative to EGEE. Paper-mounted sections offer a safe and portable way for studying macroscopic pathology, and have great potential for use in the anatomy and pathology classroom, as well as in postgraduate pathology training. Purpose: To determine the measurement equivalence of computer touch screen assessment (CTSA) and paper based assessment (PBA) of the oral health impact profile (OHIP-14). Patients and Methods: A randomized crossover trial was conducted. Sixty participants were randomized to either i) Arm A: completed CTSA then PBA of OHIP-14, or ii) Arm B: PBA and then CTSA of OHIP-14 within the same day. User preference and time taken to complete the assessments were recorded. Agreement between CTSA and PBA was determined using directional difference (DD), absolute difference (AD), and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Results: There was no significant difference in CTSA and PBA OHIP-14 scores (P> 0.05). The magnitude of the DD in scores between assessment methods was small for overall scores and all domains (< 0.3). The AD in OHIP-14 scores was small (∼ 6% for overall score, between 8– 16% for domains). Agreement between CTSA and PBA was high (ICC=0.9; 95% CI=0.8– 0.9) for overall OHIP-14 scores, but ICC values varied across domains. Most (78%) preferred CTSA. There was no significant difference in time taken to complete assessments (P=0.09). Regression analyses did not identify any significant socio-demographic factor associated with absolute difference between CTSA and PBA scores. Conclusion: There is equivalence of measurements in OHRQoL assessments from CTSA and PBA, and the time taken to complete assessment by either means is similar. There is a greater preference for CTSA. Systems using passive infrared sensors with a low resolution were recently proposed to answer the dilemma effectiveness–ethical considerations for human fall detection by Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in older adults. How effective is this type of system? We performed a systematic review to identify studies that investigated the metrological qualities of passive infrared sensors with a maximum resolution of 16× 16 pixels to identify falls. The search was conducted on PubMed, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, IEEE Xplore Digital Library, and MDPI until November 26– 28, 2020. We focused on studies testing only these types of sensor. Thirteen articles were "conference papers", five were "original articles" and one was a found in arXiv.org (an open access repository of scientific research). Since four authors "duplicated" their study in two different journals, our review finally analyzed 15 studies. The studies were very heterogeneous with regard to experimental procedures and detection methods, which made it difficult to draw formal conclusions. All studies tested their systems in controlled conditions, mostly in empty rooms. Except for two studies, the overall performance reported for the detection of falls exceeded 85– 90% of accuracy, precision, sensitivity or specificity. Systems using two or more sensors and particular detection methods (eg, 3D CNN, CNN with 10-fold cross-validation, LSTM with CNN, LSTM and Voting algorithms) seemed to give the highest levels of performance (> 90%). Background: Routinely collected electronic healthcare records (EHRs) document many details of a person's health, including demographics, preventive services, symptoms, tests, disease diagnoses and prescriptions. Although not collected for research purposes, these data provide a wealth of information which can be incorporated into epidemiological investigations, and records can be analysed to understand a range of important health questions. We aimed to understand the use of routinely collected health data in epidemiological studies relating to three of the most common chronic respiratory conditions, namely: asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and interstitial lung disease (ILD). We also characterised studies using EHR data to investigate respiratory diseases more generally, relative to cardiovascular disease and COVID-19, to understand trends in the use of these data. Methods: We conducted a search of the Scopus database, to identify original research articles (irrespective of date) which used data from one of the following most frequently used UK EHR databases: Clinical Practice Research Datalink (including General Practice Research Database (CPRD's predecessor)), The Health Improvement Network and QResearch, defined through the presence of keywords. These databases were selected as they had been previously included in the works of Vezyridis and Timmons. Findings: A total of 716 manuscripts were included in the analysis of the three chronic respiratory conditions. The majority investigated either asthma or COPD, whilst only 28 manuscripts investigated ILD. The number of publications has increased for respiratory conditions over the past 10 years (888% increase from 2000 to 2022) but not as much as for cardiovascular diseases (1105%). These data have been used to investigate comorbidities, off-target effects of medication, as well as assessing disease incidence and prevalence. Most papers published across all three domains were in journals with an impact factor less than 10. Plain Language Summary: When people go to healthcare services such as the GP or hospital, details of the encounter are recorded in electronic systems known as electronic healthcare records. Information which is recorded can include symptoms, diagnoses, tests performed and ordered and prescriptions. We looked to understand how these records were being used to conduct epidemiological research, specifically in three respiratory conditions (asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and interstitial lung diseases). We analysed information from 716 research papers which investigated one of these three conditions, we also looked more broadly at papers using electronic healthcare records for respiratory, cardiovascular and COVID-19 research. We found that research (published within articles) into these conditions has significantly increased in the past decade, however more research has been published with respect to cardiovascular diseases. We have shown that throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, electronic healthcare records were used extensively to conduct research into this new virus. Research is regularly conducted using electronic healthcare records, to understand diseases as well as treatments, more research is published in cardiovascular diseases than respiratory diseases. Background: The unique environment of high altitude can affect the work capacity of those not accustomed to it, and in some cases, it can even endanger their lives. Studying the effect of high-altitude exposure on work capacity is important. Still, there are few reviews on this topic. We aimed to summarize the parameters used to evaluate work capability in a high-altitude environment, the potential pathophysiological mechanisms, and the available pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies for improvement. Methods: We conducted searches on PubMed, Google Scholar, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure to explore the existing literature including basic and clinical studies from 1968 to 2023, using keywords such as "work capability/performance and high-altitude hypoxia" or "work/exercise at high altitude". Conference proceedings, notes, and case reports were excluded. The CiteSpace 6.1.R3 was used for de-duplication. Results: A total of 727 papers were identified through search terms from the database. 486 papers were eliminated following the de-duplication process, lacking full text and deemed irrelevant to this article. Among the remaining 241 papers, 21 investigate the underlying mechanisms of reduced work capability due to altitude exposure, and 94 papers discuss measures to improve work capability when exposed to high altitudes. Conclusion: In conclusion, this review summarizes the evaluation of indicators, pathomechanisms, and improvement measures for high-altitude exposure-related changes in work capability. Background: Pain is the most common symptom in patients with neoplasm. It is a distressing experience that seriously destructs the quality-of-life of patients, with a high prevalence in clinical observations. However, only a few studies have applied bibliometric methods to analyze systematic works on the comorbidity of cancer and pain. Purpose: The aim of this work was to conduct a systematic analysis of the scientific studies worldwide on the comorbidity of cancer and pain in 2010– 2019. Methods: The Web of Science databases were searched for publications related to the comorbidity of cancer and pain from 2010 to 2019. Results: A total of 3,423 papers met the inclusion criteria in this research. The increase in the quantity of papers presented a significant growth from 2010 to 2019 (P< 0.001) by linear regression analysis. The research subject categories of the 3,423 papers mainly concentrated on oncology (28.57%), clinical neurology (25.62%), and healthcare science services (15.89%). The US had the highest number of published papers, followed by the People's Republic of China, and England. According to scientific statistics, breast cancer (20.36%) was by far the most predominant topic in the papers related to the comorbidity of cancer and pain. Conclusion: This bibliometric research provided a framework for visual and quantitative research to management scholars in favor of exploring a potential field related to hot issue and research frontiers. Background: Neuropathic pain, a type of chronic pain, is difficult to treat clinically. Mounting evidence suggests that exercise can effectively ease neuropathic pain, and the number of publications related to exercise and neuropathic pain has increased over time. However, bibliometrics is rarely used in analyzing the general aspects of studies on exercise and neuropathic pain. The present study aims to provide a systematic overview of global scientific research related to exercise and neuropathic pain from 2005 to 2019. Methods: Publications on Science Citation Index – Expanded of Web of Science from 2005 to 2019 were searched, and those related to exercise and neuropathic pain were analyzed. Only English papers were included without specific species restrictions. Results: A total of 676 papers were included in accordance with our adopted criteria. Linear regression analysis showed a statistically meaningful increase in the number of publications on exercise and neuropathic pain study over time (p< 0.001). The subject categories of the 676 papers mainly focused on neuroscience (29.88%), clinical neurology (18.79%) and rehabilitation (10.06%) in Web of Science. In terms of contribution to scientific research on exercise and neuropathic pain, the United States led the first echelon and had the largest numbers of published papers, citations and H-index. Background: Over the last few years, there has been a shift toward a more patient-centered perspective of the disease by adopting patient-reported outcomes. Touch-screen formats are increasingly being used for data collection in routine care and research.Objectives: The aim of this study is to examine the equivalence, reliability, validity and respondent preference for a computerized touch-screen version of the Psoriatic Arthritis Impact of Disease 12-item (PsAID-12) questionnaire in comparison with the original paper-and-pencil version, in a cohort of patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA).Methods: One hundred and fifty-nine patients with PsA completed both the touch screen- and the conventional paper-and-pencil administered PsAID-12 questionnaire. Agreement between formats was assessed by intraclass correlation coefficients. Spearman's rho correlation coefficient was used to test convergent validity of the touch screen format of PsAID-12, while receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was performed to test discriminant validity. In order to assess the patient's preference, the participants filled in an additional questionnaire. The time taken to complete both formats was measured.Results: A high concordance between the responses to the two modes of the PsAID-12 tested was found, with no significant mean differences. Intraclass correlation coefficients between data obtained for touch-screen and paper versions ranged from 0.801 to 0.962. There was a very high degree of correlation between the touch-screen format of PsAID-12 and composite disease activity indices (all at a P level <0.0001), Health Assessment Questionnaire, and Physician Assessment of disease activity. The discriminatory power of the touch-screen format of PsAID-12, assessed using the minimal disease activity - Outcome Measurements in Rheumatology Clinical Trials criteria, was very good, with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.937 and a resulting cutoff value of 2.5. The touch-screen questionnaire was readily accepted and preferred. The mean time spent for completing the questionnaire on touch screen was 2 minutes and on paper was 2.7 minutes.Conclusion: The touch-screen mode of administration of PsAID-12 can be a feasible and suitable alternative to the paper-and-pencil mode for the assessment of patients with PsA. Purpose: Rare diseases present challenges for accessing patient populations to conduct surveys. Clinical Data Research Networks (CDRNs) offer an opportunity to overcome those challenges by providing infrastructure for accessing patients and sharing data. This study aims to demonstrate the feasibility of collecting patient preference information for a rare disease in a CDRN, using idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis as proof of concept. Patients and methods: Utilizing a cohort of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) patients across a CDRN, a discrete choice experiment was administered via electronic and paper methods to collect patient preference information about benefits and risks of two therapeutic options. Survey data were augmented with data from electronic health records and patient-reported outcome surveys. Results: Thirty-three patients completed the preference experiment. The amount of choice attributable to a benefit of slowing of decline in lung function was 36%. Improving efficacy in terms of lung function was 2.16 times as important as improving efficacy in terms of shortness of breath. In terms of side effects, decreasing risk of gastrointestinal problems was 2.6 times as important as decreasing risk of sun sensitivity and 2.4 times as important as decreasing risk of liver injury. In terms of benefit-risk trade-offs, improving efficacy in terms of lung function was 1.6 times as important as decreasing risk of gastrointestinal problems. Conclusion: This study used IPF as a proof of concept to demonstrate the feasibility of collecting patient preference information in a CDRN. The network was advantageous to the study of patient preferences. Future research should continue to explore pathways for the collection and use of patient preference information across networks. The power of consolidated collection efforts may lead to the ability to use preference data to inform decision-making at the regional, specialty, or individual encounter level. Background: When theoretically discussing pain, the distinction between acute and chronic pain is not always taken into consideration. By contrast, informed by the pain medicine distinction between acute and chronic pain, the present theoretical paper analyses the phenomena of chronicity and chronification in the pain setting.Methods: Philosopher Fredrik Svenaeus and his paper The phenomenology of chronic pain: embodiment and alienation (Continental Philosophy Review 2015;48:107– 122) is used as a dialogue partner.Results: Three aspects, relevant for clinicians, are discussed: (1) the distinction between emotion and mood, arguing that the process of chronification entails pain evolving from the former to the latter; (2) chronification as a process in which the pain patient becomes aware of his/her temporality, both the past and the future coming to the fore (as opposed to severe acute pain in which only the present counts, ie, getting rid of the pain now); (3) the acquisition of a pain-related narrative identity, interdisciplinary pain rehabilitation programs being described as helping patients regain a narrative identity that is not dominated by pain or by a fruitless chase after pain relief.Conclusion: Chronic pain reminds us of our temporality and of the narrative character of our lives.Plain Language Summary: It is important to distinguish acute pain from chronic pain. When pain is discussed by philosophers of medicine, this distinction is not always made. In the present paper, the phenomenon of chronic pain is analysed. It is argued that chronic pain reminds us of the fact that human beings are subject to time and that our lives can be viewed as a story unfolding in time. When pain persists, both past and future come to the fore. This contrasts with severe acute pain in which only the present counts, ie, getting rid of the pain now. This has practical and clinical implications, and it is argued that one of the potential benefits of interdisciplinary pain rehabilitation programs is to help patients reclaim the story of their lives from the dominion of pain and a fruitless chase after pain relief. Aim: Root canal treatment (RCT) is a common procedure practiced daily by dentists worldwide. The current systematic review aimed to evaluate and compare clinical studies on the quality of root canal fillings (RCFs) carried out by dentists with different levels of experience conducted worldwide with those conducted specifically in Saudi Arabia (SA). Materials and Methods: A full literature search was conducted in Clarivate Analytics' Web of Science, Elsevier's Scopus, Embase, CINHAL, and PubMed, without a restriction to studies published before January 2015. Also, a manual search was carried out by checking papers that may have been missed during the electronic search. The following keywords were used: [(quality of root canal filling(s)) OR (quality of root canal obturation)) and dental practitioners as (general dental practitioners; final year students; endodontist; specialist) AND (root canal obturation) OR (endodontic treatment)]. Parameters of the quality of RCFs, such as length, density, and taper, were assessed and counted. Results: A total of 13 worldwide and nine SA studies were included in this review, published between 2015 and 2023. Molars were the most treated teeth, at 42.3% and 40.2% for the worldwide and SA studies, respectively. Cases treated by final year students had the highest percentage, at 60.0% for both study groups. The percentages of acceptable quality, with regard to the length, density, and taper of RCFs, were 70.9%, 77.6%, and 84.3%, and 73.2%, 64.6%, and 67.8% for the worldwide and SA studies, respectively. Conclusion: The overall acceptable quality of RCFs was marginally higher in worldwide studies than in SA studies. The opioid crisis in the United States continues to take the lives of tens of thousands of Americans each year. Opioid medications are important components of acute pain management and opioid stewardship is necessary to mitigate opioid misuse while providing adequate pain control for patients with severe medical needs. The definition of opioid stewardship includes the use of evidence-based guidelines, policies, and patient-centered practices to promote appropriate prescribing, use, and deprescribing of opioids to optimize treatment and minimize adverse consequences. There is little concrete guidance about how to achieve these goals or define the role and importance of various healthcare professionals in opioid stewardship programs. An integrative review process was used to evaluate and collate best practices in opioid stewardship from a variety of published papers. The integrative review was chosen to be inclusive of papers outside of quantitative research, allowing for interpretation of qualitative research, position statements, reports, editorials, and opinions. Data extraction included 71 publications that revealed common characteristics that can improve and coalesce opioid stewardship programs. Top characteristics and themes developed include prescribing guidelines, patient and provider education, referral and consultation, prescribing audits, barriers to opioid stewardship, the use of multidisciplinary teams and non-physician healthcare providers, accountability, risk of misuse, access to care, and patient-centeredness. The use of electronic health record tools, decision support tools, patient screening and discharge standards, and opioid tapering were recommended. Open and consistent communication between patients and healthcare providers is deemed essential. Staffing resources were found to be a significant barrier to opioid stewardship. This integrative review of publications related to opioid stewardship seeks to provide a comprehensive list of best practices that can be incorporated into programs to streamline processes and contribute to an organized foundation that can be used in research to illuminate practices that lead to enhanced outcomes. Aims: DEPPAS ("Dispositivo Electrónico Personal y Portable en Salud" or Personal, Portable Electronic Health Device in English) is a portable device in form of a bracelet that allows storing electronic health records of older adults experiencing chronic illnesses. The device seeks to support the vital sustainability of older adults by storing critical health information when electronic or paper records have been lost as a consequence of a disaster. Older adults are particularly vulnerable to experience negative consequences in this context. The present study explores the end-user acceptability of DEPPAS in order to inform the next design stages of the device. Methods: Twenty home-dwelling urban male and female older adults enrolled in a chronic health management program were invited to participate in two focus groups. A prototype of DEPPAS was presented and reactions to health service disruption scenarios were explored. Focus groups were transcribed. Content analysis based on the Technology Acceptance Model was conducted. Results: Older adults are acutely aware of their vulnerable health status. Participants report overall positive reactions to DEPPAS. The device was associated with feelings of relief and an increased sense of control over their health management. DEPPAS is perceived as useful, usable, and safe. Even though concerns regarding confidentiality were raised, benefits are perceived as more relevant than potential risks. Participants agree that its usefulness could be extended beyond disaster situations to everyday health care management. Implications for future development and limitations are discussed. Conclusion: The conceptual design DEPPAS shows a high level of acceptability by this end user and a high potential to be integrated with other complementary technologies (e.g. GPS, medication reminders) that could significantly contribute to improving health management in disaster situations. Background: Case reports are fundamental to clinical medicine that trace back to ancient Egypt preceding Hippocrates in the history of medicine. Case reports contribute to academic development and new clinical research. However, among cases presented at an annual academic conference for Japanese generalists, only a few cases were later published in peer-reviewed journals, highlighting potential barriers regarding the writing of case reports, such as mentorship absence. This paper aimed to offer guidance and strategies to novice and young general physicians in overcoming barriers and effectively composing case reports for international peer-reviewed journals. Methods: This paper focuses on case reports for general physicians with extensive experience in writing case reports for international peer-reviewed journals. We conducted a narrative review to help beginners and young general physicians in writing case reports and discussed strategies for overcoming these barriers. Results: We propose the following three tips as important processes for writing case reports: recognize the types of suitable cases for case reports; select a journal for submission using a list of candidate journals for general physicians; and organize the discussion section with one theme per paragraph. In addition, we provide a list of journals that specifically focus on case reports, along with important pointers for beginners and young general physicians that will assist authors in the field of general medicine in choosing appropriate journals for submission. Aim of the Study: This study analyzes research on TCM formulae in CHD over the past 30 years, using VOSviewer and CiteSpace. It aims to highlight key trends and hotspots in the field. Materials and Methods: The core database of Web of Science was collected, and the search time range was from the establishment of the database to the present (August 2023) for the literature related to the study of TCM prescriptions in CHD, and the information on the number of literature, countries, journals, authors, institutions, keywords were summarized by applying the software VOSviewer and CiteSpace. Results: A total of 135 kinds of literature were included. The number of published journal papers on research on TCM therapeutic formulae for CHD showed an upward trend; China was the most prolific country in this field; the largest number of papers were published in Evid Based Complement Alternat Med, MEDICINE; the average number of citations for authors and institutional analysis revealed that Xu Hao of China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Mao Jingyuan of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Shang Hongcai of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine constituted the core team of researchers studying the study of TCM formulae for CHD; the keyword analysis suggests that there are mainly 42 specifically named TCM formulae for the treatment of CHD, which are classified into a total of 7 major categories, and the research direction is mainly in the clinical efficacy study of different TCM therapeutic formulae and other aspects. Conclusion: This study shows that there are more types of TCM therapeutic formulae for CHD, and the related research has a good prospect. Purpose: Although research in general medicine is important, the contributions and characteristics of general medicine physicians (GMPs) in university hospitals (UH) and community healthcare facilities (CHF) remains unclear. Therefore, this study examines the popularity of research by affiliation, characteristics of journal publication, annual trends, and differences in impact factors (IFs) of journal publications. Methods: This study is a secondary bibliometric analysis of articles in international journals published in PubMed over the past six years (2015– 2020). The analysis compared English articles published by either UH- or CHF-affiliated GMPs in Japan in terms of, among other things, article type, research field, and IF. Results: Of the 2372 articles analyzed, 1688 (71.2%) were published by physicians affiliated with UHs, 62.6% of which were original. Basic research, international collaboration, and ratio of IFs were significantly higher for such papers. In contrast, the number of CHF articles were significantly higher in the areas of clinical research and practice, with a greater proportion of case reports. There was no significant difference in IF between the disciplines within each affiliation, but the IF was the highest in experimental basic research and the lowest in medical and clinical education. In the six-year time series, the number of original papers by UHs and CHFs increased roughly twofold between 2015 and 2020, but the number of articles in the areas of medical education and healthcare quality and safety remained mostly unchanged. Conclusion: The number of international papers published by Japanese GMPs has increased since 2015, particularly in terms of original papers and clinical research from UHs. However, there was no significant difference in the IF between UH and CHF publications. Although the number of publications focusing on low back pain in older adults (LBP-O) and working-age adults (LBP-W) has been growing for decades, comparative research trends in these two populations, which may help to guide future investigation, have not been rigorously explored. This analysis aimed to describe publication patterns and trends of research targeting LBP-O and LBP-W over the last three decades. Peer-reviewed LBP-O and LBP-W articles published between 1993 and 2023 were retrieved from the Web of Science, which provided the details of annual publication volume, and prominent journals/countries/institutions. The relationship between the annual publication volumes and years was analyzed by Spearman correlation analysis. The hot topics and emerging trends were analyzed by VOSviewer and CiteSpace, respectively. A total of 4217 LBP-O-related and 50,559 LBP-W-related documents were included. The annual publication volumes of LBP-O and LBP-W articles increased over the years (r=0.995 to 0.998, p< 0.001). The United States had the highest number of prominent institutions publishing relevant articles. The most prolific journal for LBP-O (5.4%) and LBP-W-related (6.1%) papers is the journal "Spine". Cognitive behavioral therapy, intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration, physiotherapy, physical activity, and walking were the recent hot topics and physical activity was an emerging trend in LBP-O, while surgery and IVD degeneration (also a hot topic) were emerging trends in LBP-W. This study highlights the paucity of LBP-O-related research in the past. The United States and the journal Spine stand out in LBP research. The research trend of physical activity in LBP-O is consistent with the recognized importance of physical activity for older adults in general, and for managing LBP-O in particular. Conversely, the emerging trends of surgery and intervertebral disc degeneration in LBP-W research highlight a focus on the biomedical model of LBP despite LBP being a biopsychosocial condition. Background: Despite the great effort between the dentist and dental technician in prosthesis fabrication, there is a lack of proper communication. According to the laboratory prescription, the communication process must include all the essential elements to complete the prosthesis fabrication correctly. The digital revolution in dentistry suggested using information technology system prescriptions instead of traditional prescriptions. Aim: To explore the association between the application of ITS and the communication process between dental laboratories and dental clinics in a developing country setting. Methods: The current study used a quasi-experimental design (posttest only). A convenience sample of 600 subjects was divided into two subsamples of 300 subjects each. The data from the first subsample was collected from traditional (paper-based) prescriptions, and the data from the second subsample was collected from the Information Technology System (ITS). Results: It was associated with a statistically significant commitment to recording the most essential information in the dental lab prescription. The time spent completing and delivering the work was faster, and the need for recommunication was less common among those using ITS than those using traditional systems. Regarding the quality of the prosthesis, the need for modification or redo due to improper shade, inappropriate charting of teeth, or lack of additional information in the dental lab prescription was less among users of the ITS system compared to the traditional system (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Using ITS instead of a traditional system can enhance the communication process and the amount filled in the laboratory prescription in multiple aspects, including the completeness of essential information in the dental lab prescription, the time needed to complete the cases, the need to re-communicate less frequently with the dentist, and improved the quality of the prosthesis. Some patients with epilepsy continue to have seizures despite daily treatment with antiseizure medications. This includes seizure clusters (also known as acute repetitive seizures), which are an increase in seizure frequency that is different from the usual seizure pattern for that patient. In the literature, the term "rescue" is used for pharmacologic treatment for seizure clusters, but clarity regarding timing or whether a caregiver or patient should wait until a moment of life-threatening urgency before administering the medication is lacking. Additionally, the concept of waiting 5 minutes to identify and initiate treatment of status epilepticus has been carried over to the treatment of seizure clusters, as well as the idea of waiting owing to safety concerns, without reevaluation in the context of the reported safety profiles for currently available as-needed therapies when administered as prescribed. Delaying treatment of seizure clusters may have negative outcomes, including injury, emergency room use, hospitalization, and progression to status epilepticus. Additionally, increased time for administration of benzodiazepines, the cornerstone therapies for seizure clusters, may lower the potency and effectiveness once administration takes place, because of physiologic changes. Thus, clarifying the importance of timing in the treatment terminology may be of benefit in the acute context. The term "immediate-use seizure medication" (ISM), meaning treatment that is administered as quickly as possible once a seizure cluster is recognized, may help to clarify the timing of as-needed treatment. This review examines the recognition and definitions of seizure clusters, the physiologic rationale for ISM for seizure clusters, and the effectiveness and safety of early treatment. Remaining knowledge gaps are also discussed. The findings of this review suggest that it may be time to revisit the terminology of "rescue", which implies waiting to administer treatment for seizure clusters, as doing so is not supported by pathophysiologic, effectiveness, or safety data. Plain Language Summary: Some people with epilepsy have seizures even if they take daily medication for their seizures. If they have more seizures than usual in a day, this may be called a seizure cluster. Drugs used to treat clusters are often said to be "rescue" medicines. But the word "rescue" may imply that the medication should only be administered when serious danger is present. Additionally, possibly because of previous instructions, people may think they have to wait to see if the seizure lasts more than 5 minutes to give the medicine, or they may be concerned about how safe the medicine will be if they give it. This older approach needs to be revisited and replaced. Waiting to give medicine could make it more likely that a person could get hurt or require a hospital or emergency room visit or their seizure condition could worsen. Waiting also may allow for changes in the body that may make a medicine less effective once it is given. Because of this, it may be better to say these medicines are for "immediate use" rather than for "rescue". That way, the people giving the medicine know that they should give it as soon as they see the patient needs it. This paper discusses how seizure clusters are described and what can happen if someone waits to give medicine versus giving it right away. The paper shows that waiting may not be needed. aims to perform a systematic assessment of the influence of physical exercise on asthma patients and discuss the intervention effects of different exercises on the lung function FEV1 (%pred) and quality of life among asthma patients so as to lay a scientific foundation for improving asthma symptoms. Methods: Both Chinese and English databases were retrieved, including PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, The Cochrane Library, CBM, CNKI, Wan Fang Data, and VIP, whose retrieval period started from the founding date of each database to 1st, November 2021. Randomized controlled trials (RCT) studying the symptom indicators of asthma patients were collected. Those collected papers were screened according to the Inclusion Criteria and Exclusion Criteria. Then, methodological quality assessments were conducted on the included papers, and combined effect sizes were analyzed by using software ReMan 5.3.5. Results: The meta analysis showed that physical exercise could significantly improve lung function FEV1 (%pred) and quality of life score. Trails containing breathing exercise are the main source of heterogeneity, and the subgroup of breathing exercise may have better performance than the subgroup of aerobic exercise in improving FEV1 (%pred). Conclusion: Physical exercise can significantly improve the symptoms and quality of life of asthma patients. Except the breathing exercise that showed heterogeneity, the subgroup of aerobic exercise could improve the capacity of FEV1 (%pred) more effectively, which led to a significant difference in the influence of quality of life. However, with regard to the gymnastic exercise including breathing exercise, there are limited same intervention methods and insufficient same outcome indicators. Background and Purpose: Pain is one of the most common symptoms in patients after stroke. It is a distressing experience that affects patients' quality of life, and it is highly prevalent in clinical practice. The pathogenesis mechanisms of PSP are not so clear, and there is currently a lack of effective medical treatments, hence it is necessary to establish a sufficient understanding of this disease. Limited number of studies have applied bibliometric methods to systematically analyze studies on post-stroke pain. This study aimed to systematically analyze scientific studies conducted worldwide on post-stroke pain from 2012 to 2021 to evaluate global trends in this field using a bibliometric analysis. Methods: Publications related to post-stroke pain from 2012 to 2021 were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection database. Bibliometrics Biblioshiny R-package software was used to analyze the relationship of publication year with country, institution, journals, authors, and keywords and to generate variant visual maps to show annual publications, most relevant countries, authors, sources, keywords, and top-cited articles. Results: In this study, 5484 papers met the inclusion criteria. The annual growth rate of publications was 5.13%. The USA had the highest number of publications (1381, 25.2%) and citations (36,395), and the University of Toronto had the highest number of papers (156, 2.8%). "Stroke", "management", "pain", "risk", "prevalence", "ischemic stroke", "risk factors", "disease", "diagnosis" and "therapy" are the top 10 keywords. Conclusion: The global research interest regarding PSP has maintained growing over the past ten years. Both central post stroke pain and hemiplegic shoulder pain are the hottest research subjects. Further investigations are needed in order to reveal the mystery of the pathophysiologic mechanisms of CPSP, and high-quality well-designed trials of potential treatments of CPSP and HSP are also needed. Introduction: With the wide acceptance of acupuncture, many papers and guidelines recommend that acupuncture is effective for chronic pain (CP). In this study, we applied bibliometric methods to analyze the current research situation of acupuncture intervention in CP, to gain insight into the current situation and future development trend of this field. Material and Methods: Science Citation Index Expanded was searched for publications related to acupuncture for CP between 1900 and 2022. VOSviewer, CiteSpace and Thomson Data Analyzer were used to analyze the annual publication, authors and cited authors and their countries (regions) and institutions, journals and cited journals, cited references, co-occurrence keywords, burst keywords, and the relevant centrality. Results: A total of 1968 papers were retrieved, the annual publications have shown a rapid growth trend in the recent 20 years. The USA (708) and the Kyung Hee University (31) were the most productive country and institution, respectively, while the USA (0.37) and University of Maryland (0.13) had the highest centrality. MacPherson, Hugh published the most papers in this field (29), and Vickers, A J were the most influential author (289 times cited). Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine was the most productive journal (92), whereas PAIN was the most influential one (4743 times cited). Breivik, H's (2006) paper had the most citation count (3025), while Furlan's (2005) paper had the highest centrality (0.23). The research focuses in this field mainly include pain, electroacupuncture, Low back pain, Systematic review, Randomized controlled trial etc. Researchers are currently paying more attention to the psychological problems caused by CP. Conclusion: The research of acupuncture for CP will be further expanded. International cooperation of this research field needs to be further strengthened.
