Abstract
- This article is a response to a previous paper on the influence of pre-operative parameters on laser refractive surgery outcomes. The author agrees with the findings of the previous paper and suggests that examining epithelial thickness data would further enhance the analysis. The author also criticizes the use of a fixed Gullstrand model in understanding errors in laser refractive surgery outcomes and argues for the acceptance of biological variables that cannot be easily accounted for. The author concludes by calling for a change in how ocular focusing systems are pursued. [Extracted from the article]
