As an emerging vision sensor, the event camera has gained popularity in various vision tasks such as optical flow estimation, stereo matching, and depth estimation due to its high-speed, sparse, and asynchronous event streams. Unlike traditional approaches that use specialized architectures for each specific task, we propose a unified framework, EventMatch, that reformulates these tasks as an event-based dense correspondence matching problem, allowing them to be solved with a single model by directly comparing feature similarities. By utilizing a shared feature similarities module, which integrates knowledge from other event flows via temporal or spatial interactions, and distinct task heads, our network can concurrently perform optical flow estimation from temporal inputs (e.g., two segments of event streams in the temporal domain) and stereo matching from spatial inputs (e.g., two segments of event streams from different viewpoints in the spatial domain). Moreover, we further demonstrate that our unified model inherently supports cross-task transfer since the architecture and parameters are shared across tasks. Without the need for retraining on each task, our model can effectively handle both optical flow and disparity estimation simultaneously. The experiment conducted on the DSEC benchmark demonstrates that our model exhibits superior performance in both optical flow and disparity estimation tasks, outperforming existing state-of-the-art methods. Our unified approach not only advances event-based models but also opens new possibilities for cross-task transfer and inter-task fusion in both spatial and temporal dimensions. Event-based video reconstruction has garnered increasing attention due to its advantages, such as high dynamic range and rapid motion capture capabilities. However, current methods often prioritize the extraction of temporal information from continuous event flow, leading to an overemphasis on low-frequency texture features in the scene, resulting in over-smoothing and blurry artifacts. Addressing this challenge necessitates the integration of conditional information, encompassing temporal features, low-frequency texture, and high-frequency events, to guide the Denoising Diffusion Probabilistic Model (DDPM) in producing accurate and natural outputs. To tackle this issue, we introduce a novel approach, the Temporal Residual Guided Diffusion Framework, which effectively leverages both temporal and frequency-based event priors. Our framework incorporates three key conditioning modules: a pre-trained low-frequency intensity estimation module, a temporal recurrent encoder module, and an attention-based high-frequency prior enhancement module. In order to capture temporal scene variations from the events at the current moment, we employ a temporal-domain residual image as the target for the diffusion model. Through the combination of these three conditioning paths and the temporal residual framework, our framework excels in reconstructing high-quality videos from event flow, mitigating issues such as artifacts and over-smoothing commonly observed in previous approaches. High dynamic range (HDR) video reconstruction aims to generate HDR videos from low dynamic range (LDR) frames captured with alternating exposures. Most existing works solely rely on the regression-based paradigm, leading to adverse effects such as ghosting artifacts and missing details in saturated regions. In this paper, we propose a diffusion-promoted method for HDR video reconstruction, termed HDR-V-Diff, which incorporates a diffusion model to capture the HDR distribution. As such, HDR-V-Diff can reconstruct HDR videos with realistic details while alleviating ghosting artifacts. However, the direct introduction of video diffusion models would impose massive computational burden. Instead, to alleviate this burden, we first propose an HDR Latent Diffusion Model (HDR-LDM) to learn the distribution prior of single HDR frames. Specifically, HDR-LDM incorporates a tonemapping strategy to compress HDR frames into the latent space and a novel exposure embedding to aggregate the exposure information into the diffusion process. We then propose a Temporal-Consistent Alignment Module (TCAM) to learn the temporal information as a complement for HDR-LDM, which conducts coarse-to-fine feature alignment at different scales among video frames. Finally, we design a Zero-Init Cross-Attention (ZiCA) mechanism to effectively integrate the learned distribution prior and temporal information for generating HDR frames. Deep priors have emerged as potent methods in hyperspectral image (HSI) reconstruction. While most methods emphasize space-domain learning using image space priors like non-local similarity, frequency-domain learning using image frequency priors remains neglected, limiting the reconstruction capability of networks. In this paper, we first propose a Hyperspectral Frequency Correlation (HFC) prior rooted in in-depth statistical frequency analyses of existent HSI datasets. Leveraging the HFC prior, we subsequently establish the frequency domain learning composed of a Spectral-wise self-Attention of Frequency (SAF) and a Spectral-spatial Interaction of Frequency (SIF) targeting low-frequency and high-frequency components, respectively. The outputs of SAF and SIF are adaptively merged by a learnable gating filter, thus achieving a thorough exploitation of image frequency priors. Integrating the frequency domain learning and the existing space domain learning, we finally develop the Correlation-driven Mixing Domains Transformer (CMDT) for HSI reconstruction. Recent advancements in 3D reconstruction technologies have paved the way for high-quality and real-time rendering of complex 3D scenes. Despite these achievements, a notable challenge persists: it is difficult to precisely reconstruct specific objects from large scenes. Current scene reconstruction techniques frequently result in the loss of object detail textures and are unable to reconstruct object portions that are occluded or unseen in views. To address this challenge, we delve into the meticulous 3D reconstruction of specific objects within large scenes and propose a framework termed OMEGAS: Object Mesh Extraction from Large Scenes Guided by Gaussian Segmentation. Specifically, we proposed a novel 3D target segmentation technique based on 2D Gaussian Splatting, which segments 3D consistent target masks in multi-view scene images and generates a preliminary target model. Moreover, to reconstruct the unseen portions of the target, we propose a novel target replenishment technique driven by large-scale generative diffusion priors. We demonstrate that our method can accurately reconstruct specific targets from large scenes, both quantitatively and qualitatively. Spike cameras, leveraging spike-based integration sampling and high temporal resolution, offer distinct advantages over standard cameras. However, existing approaches reliant on spike cameras often assume optimal illumination, a condition frequently unmet in real-world scenarios. To address this, we introduce SpikeNeRF, the first work that derives a NeRF-based volumetric scene representation from spike camera data. Our approach leverages NeRF's multi-view consistency to establish robust self-supervision, effectively eliminating erroneous measurements and uncovering coherent structures within exceedingly noisy input amidst diverse real-world illumination scenarios. The framework comprises two core elements: a spike generation model incorporating an integrate-and-fire neuron layer and parameters accounting for non-idealities, such as threshold variation, and a spike rendering loss capable of generalizing across varying illumination conditions. We describe how to effectively optimize neural radiance fields to render photorealistic novel views from the novel continuous spike stream, demonstrating advantages over other vision sensors in certain scenes. Empirical evaluations conducted on both real and novel realistically simulated sequences affirm the efficacy of our methodology. The fusion of a low-spatial-resolution hyperspectral image (LR-HSI) with a high-spatial-resolution multispectral image (HR-MSI) has garnered increasing research interest. However, most fusion methods solely focus on the fusion algorithm itself and overlook the degradation models, which results in unsatisfactory performance in practical scenarios. To fill this gap, we propose physics-inspired degradation models (PIDM) to model the degradation of LR-HSI and HR-MSI, which comprises a spatial degradation network (SpaDN) and a spectral degradation network (SpeDN). SpaDN and SpeDN are designed based on two insights. First, we employ spatial warping and spectral modulation operations to simulate lens aberrations, thereby introducing non-uniformity into the spatial and spectral degradation processes. Second, we utilize asymmetric downsampling and parallel downsampling operations to separately reduce the spatial and spectral resolutions of the images, thus ensuring the matching of spatial and spectral degradation processes with specific physical characteristics. Once SpaDN and SpeDN are established, we adopt a self-supervised training strategy to optimize the network parameters and provide a plug-and-play solution for fusion methods. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that our proposed PIDM can boost the fusion performance of existing fusion methods in practical scenarios.

Dual-Camera Compressed Hyperspectral Imaging (DCCHI) offers the capability to reconstruct 3D Hyperspectral Image (HSI) by fusing compressive and Panchromatic (PAN) image, which has shown great potential for snapshot hyperspectral imaging in practice. In this paper, we introduce a novel DCCHI reconstruction network, the Intra-Inter Similarity Exploiting Transformer (In2SET). Our key insight is to make full use of the PAN image to assist the reconstruction. To this end, we propose using the intra-similarity within the PAN image as a proxy for approximating the intra-similarity in the original HSI, thereby offering an enhanced content prior for more accurate HSI reconstruction. Furthermore, we aim to align the features from the underlying HSI with those of the PAN image, maintaining semantic consistency and introducing new contextual information for the reconstruction process. By integrating In2SET into a PAN-guided unrolling framework, our method substantially enhances the spatial-spectral fidelity and detail of the reconstructed images, providing a more comprehensive and accurate depiction of the scene. Extensive experiments conducted on both real and simulated datasets demonstrate that our approach consistently outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods in terms of reconstruction quality and computational complexity. Computational spectral imaging is drawing increasing attention owing to the snapshot advantage, and amplitude, phase, and wavelength encoding systems are three types of representative implementations. Fairly comparing and understanding the performance of these systems is essential, but challenging due to the heterogeneity in encoding design. To overcome this limitation, we propose the unified encoding model (UEM) that covers all physical systems using the three encoding types. Specifically, the UEM comprises physical amplitude, physical phase, and physical wavelength encoding models that can be combined with a digital decoding model in a joint encoder-decoder optimization framework to compare the three systems under a unified experimental setup fairly. Furthermore, we extend the UEMs to ideal versions, namely, ideal amplitude, ideal phase, and ideal wavelength encoding models, which are free from physical constraints, to explore the full potential of the three types of computational spectral imaging systems. Finally, we conduct a holistic comparison of the three types of computational spectral imaging systems and provide valuable insights for designing and exploiting these systems in the future.

Spectral super-resolution that aims to recover hyperspectral image (HSI) from easily obtainable RGB image has drawn increasing interest in the field of computational photography. The crucial aspect of spectral super-resolution lies in exploiting the correlation within HSIs. However, two types of bottlenecks in existing Transformers limit performance improvement and practical applications. First, existing Transformers often separately emphasize either spatial-wise or spectral-wise correlation, disrupting the 3D features of HSI and hindering the exploitation of unified spatial-spectral correlation. Second, existing self-attention mechanism always establishes full-rank correlation matrix by learning the correlation between pairs of tokens, leading to its inability to describe linear dependence widely existing in HSI among multiple tokens. To address these issues, we propose a novel Exhaustive Correlation Transformer (ECT) for spectral super-resolution. First, we propose a Spectral-wise Discontinuous 3D (SD3D) splitting strategy, which models unified spatial-spectral correlation by integrating spatial-wise continuous splitting strategy and spectral-wise discontinuous splitting strategy. Second, we propose a Dynamic Low-Rank Mapping (DLRM) model, which captures linear dependence among multiple tokens through a dynamically calculated low-rank dependence map. By integrating unified spatial-spectral attention and linear dependence, our ECT can model exhaustive correlation within HSI. The experimental results on both simulated and real data indicate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance. Codes and pretrained models will be available later.

Multimodal semantic segmentation is developing rapidly, but the modality of RGB-Polarization remains underexplored. To delve into this problem, we construct a UPLight RGB-P segmentation benchmark with 12 typical underwater semantic classes. In this work, we design the ShareCMP, an RGB-P semantic segmentation framework with a shared dual-branch architecture, which reduces the number of parameters by about 26-33% compared to previous dual-branch models. It encompasses a Polarization Generate Attention (PGA) module designed to generate polarization modal images with richer polarization properties for the encoder. In addition, we introduce the Class Polarization-Aware Loss (CPALoss) to improve the learning and understanding of the encoder for polarization modal information and to optimize the PGA module. With extensive experiments on a total of three RGB-P benchmarks, our ShareCMP achieves state-of-the-art performance in mIoU with fewer parameters on the UPLight (92.45(+0.32)%), ZJU (92.7(+0.1)%), and MCubeS (50.99(+1.51)%) datasets compared to the previous best methods. Recently, the mainstream practice for training low-light raw image denoising methods has shifted towards employing synthetic data. Noise modeling, which focuses on characterizing the noise distribution of real-world sensors, profoundly influences the effectiveness and practicality of synthetic data. Currently, physics-based noise modeling struggles to characterize the entire real noise distribution, while learning-based noise modeling impractically depends on paired real data. In this paper, we propose a novel strategy: learning the noise model from dark frames instead of paired real data, to break down the data dependency. Based on this strategy, we introduce an efficient physics-guided noise neural proxy (PNNP) to approximate the real-world sensor noise model. Specifically, we integrate physical priors into neural proxies and introduce three efficient techniques: physics-guided noise decoupling (PND), physics-guided proxy model (PPM), and differentiable distribution loss (DDL). PND decouples the dark frame into different components and handles different levels of noise flexibly, which reduces the complexity of noise modeling. PPM incorporates physical priors to constrain the generated noise, which promotes the accuracy of noise modeling. DDL provides explicit and reliable supervision for noise distribution, which promotes the precision of noise modeling. PNNP exhibits powerful potential in characterizing the real noise distribution. Precise crop yield prediction is essential for improving agricultural practices and ensuring crop resilience in varying climates. Integrating weather data across the growing season, especially for different crop varieties, is crucial for understanding their adaptability in the face of climate change. In the MLCAS2021 Crop Yield Prediction Challenge, we utilized a dataset comprising 93,028 training records to forecast yields for 10,337 test records, covering 159 locations across 28 U.S. states and Canadian provinces over 13 years (2003-2015). This dataset included details on 5,838 distinct genotypes and daily weather data for a 214-day growing season, enabling comprehensive analysis. As one of the winning teams, we developed two novel convolutional neural network (CNN) architectures: the CNN-DNN model, combining CNN and fully-connected networks, and the CNN-LSTM-DNN model, with an added LSTM layer for weather variables. Leveraging the Generalized Ensemble Method (GEM), we determined optimal model weights, resulting in superior performance compared to baseline models. The GEM model achieved lower RMSE (5.55% to 39.88%), reduced MAE (5.34% to 43.76%), and higher correlation coefficients (1.1% to 10.79%) when evaluated on test data. We applied the CNN-DNN model to identify top-performing genotypes for various locations and weather conditions, aiding genotype selection based on weather variables. The SoccerNet 2023 challenges were the third annual video understanding challenges organized by the SoccerNet team. For this third edition, the challenges were composed of seven vision-based tasks split into three main themes. The first theme, broadcast video understanding, is composed of three high-level tasks related to describing events occurring in the video broadcasts: (1) action spotting, focusing on retrieving all timestamps related to global actions in soccer, (2) ball action spotting, focusing on retrieving all timestamps related to the soccer ball change of state, and (3) dense video captioning, focusing on describing the broadcast with natural language and anchored timestamps. The second theme, field understanding, relates to the single task of (4) camera calibration, focusing on retrieving the intrinsic and extrinsic camera parameters from images. The third and last theme, player understanding, is composed of three low-level tasks related to extracting information about the players: (5) re-identification, focusing on retrieving the same players across multiple views, (6) multiple object tracking, focusing on tracking players and the ball through unedited video streams, and (7) jersey number recognition, focusing on recognizing the jersey number of players from tracklets. Compared to the previous editions of the SoccerNet challenges, tasks (2-3-7) are novel, including new annotations and data, task (4) was enhanced with more data and annotations, and task (6) now focuses on end-to-end approaches. Image fusion aims to generate a high-quality image from multiple images captured under varying conditions. The key problem of this task is to preserve complementary information while filtering out irrelevant information for the fused result. However, existing methods address this problem by leveraging static convolutional neural networks (CNNs), suffering two inherent limitations during feature extraction, i.e., being unable to handle spatial-variant contents and lacking guidance from multiple inputs. In this paper, we propose a novel mutual-guided dynamic network (MGDN) for image fusion, which allows for effective information utilization across different locations and inputs. Specifically, we design a mutual-guided dynamic filter (MGDF) for adaptive feature extraction, composed of a mutual-guided cross-attention (MGCA) module and a dynamic filter predictor, where the former incorporates additional guidance from different inputs and the latter generates spatial-variant kernels for different locations. In addition, we introduce a parallel feature fusion (PFF) module to effectively fuse local and global information of the extracted features. To further reduce the redundancy among the extracted features while simultaneously preserving their shared structural information, we devise a novel loss function that combines the minimization of normalized mutual information (NMI) with an estimated gradient mask. Experimental results on five benchmark datasets demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms existing methods on four image fusion tasks. Spike camera is a new type of bio-inspired vision sensor that records light intensity in the form of a spike array with high temporal resolution (20,000 Hz). This new paradigm of vision sensor offers significant advantages for many vision tasks such as high speed image reconstruction. However, existing spike-based approaches typically assume that the scenes are with sufficient light intensity, which is usually unavailable in many real-world scenarios such as rainy days or dusk scenes. To unlock more spike-based application scenarios, we propose a Recurrent Spike-based Image Restoration (RSIR) network, which is the first work towards restoring clear images from spike arrays under general illumination. Specifically, to accurately describe the noise distribution under different illuminations, we build a physical-based spike noise model according to the sampling process of the spike camera. Based on the noise model, we design our RSIR network which consists of an adaptive spike transformation module, a recurrent temporal feature fusion module, and a frequency-based spike denoising module. Our RSIR can process the spike array in a recursive manner to ensure that the spike temporal information is well utilized. In the training process, we generate the simulated spike data based on our noise model to train our network. Extensive experiments on real-world datasets with different illuminations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed network. Image denoising is a fundamental problem in computational photography, where achieving high perception with low distortion is highly demanding. Current methods either struggle with perceptual quality or suffer from significant distortion. Recently, the emerging diffusion model has achieved state-of-the-art performance in various tasks and demonstrates great potential for image denoising. However, stimulating diffusion models for image denoising is not straightforward and requires solving several critical problems. For one thing, the input inconsistency hinders the connection between diffusion models and image denoising. For another, the content inconsistency between the generated image and the desired denoised image introduces distortion. To tackle these problems, we present a novel strategy called the Diffusion Model for Image Denoising (DMID) by understanding and rethinking the diffusion model from a denoising perspective. Our DMID strategy includes an adaptive embedding method that embeds the noisy image into a pre-trained unconditional diffusion model and an adaptive ensembling method that reduces distortion in the denoised image. Optimizing management practices and selecting the best cultivar for planting play a significant role in increasing agricultural food production and decreasing environmental footprint. In this study, we develop optimization frameworks under uncertainty using conditional value-at-risk in the stochastic programming objective function. We integrate the crop model, APSIM, and a parallel Bayesian optimization algorithm to optimize the management practices and select the best cultivar at different levels of risk aversion. This approach integrates the power of optimization in determining the best decisions and crop model in simulating nature's output corresponding to various decisions. As a case study, we set up the crop model for 25 locations across the US Corn Belt. We optimized the management options (planting date, N fertilizer amount, fertilizing date, and plant density in the farm) and cultivar options (cultivars with different maturity days) three times: a) before, b) at planting and c) after a growing season with known weather. Results indicated that the proposed model produced meaningful connections between weather and optima decisions. Also, we found risk-tolerance farmers get more expected yield than risk-averse ones in wet and non-wet weathers.

Low-light raw denoising is an important and valuable task in computational photography where learning-based methods trained with paired real data are mainstream. However, the limited data volume and complicated noise distribution have constituted a learnability bottleneck for paired real data, which limits the denoising performance of learning-based methods. To address this issue, we present a learnability enhancement strategy to reform paired real data according to noise modeling. Our strategy consists of two efficient techniques: shot noise augmentation (SNA) and dark shading correction (DSC). Through noise model decoupling, SNA improves the precision of data mapping by increasing the data volume and DSC reduces the complexity of data mapping by reducing the noise complexity. Extensive results on the public datasets and real imaging scenarios collectively demonstrate the state-of-the-art performance of our method. Producing higher-quality crops within shortened breeding cycles ensures global food availability and security, but this improvement intensifies logistical and productivity challenges for seed industries in the year-round breeding process due to the storage limitations. In the 2021 Syngenta crop challenge in analytics, Syngenta raised the problem to design an optimization model for the planting time scheduling in the 2020 year-round breeding process so that there is a consistent harvest quantity each week. They released a dataset that contained 2569 seed populations with their planting windows, required growing degree units for harvesting, and their harvest quantities at two sites. To address this challenge, we developed a new framework that consists of a weather time series model and an optimization model to schedule the planting time. A deep recurrent neural network was designed to predict the weather into the future, and a Gaussian process model on top of the time-series model was developed to model the uncertainty of forecasted weather. The proposed optimization models also scheduled the seed population's planting time at the fewest number of weeks with a more consistent weekly harvest quantity. Using the proposed optimization models can decrease the required capacity by 69% at site 0 and up to 51% at site 1 compared to the original planting time.

Traditional botnet attacks leverage large and distributed numbers of compromised internet-connected devices to target and overwhelm other devices with internet packets. With increasing consumer adoption of high-wattage internet-facing "smart devices", a new "power botnet" attack emerges, where such devices are used to target and overwhelm power grid devices with unusual load demand. We introduce a variant of this attack, the power-botnet weardown-attack, which does not intend to cause blackouts or short-term acute instability, but instead forces expensive mechanical components to activate more frequently, necessitating costly replacements / repairs. Specifically, we target the on-load tap-changer (OLTC) transformer, which uses a mechanical switch that responds to change in load demand. In our analysis and simulations, these attacks can halve the lifespan of an OLTC, or in the most extreme cases, reduce it to $2.5\%$ of its original lifespan. Notably, these power botnets are composed of devices not connected to the internal SCADA systems used to control power grids. This represents a new internet-based cyberattack that targets the power grid from the outside. To help the power system to mitigate these types of botnet attacks, we develop attack-localization strategies. We formulate the problem as a supervised machine learning task to locate the source of power botnet attacks. Within a simulated environment, we generate the training and testing dataset to evaluate several machine learning algorithm based localization methods, including SVM, neural network and decision tree. We show that decision-tree based classification successfully identifies power botnet attacks and locates compromised devices with at least $94\%$ improvement of accuracy over a baseline "most-frequent" classifier., Comment: 18 pages, 10 figures

Existing methods for spectral reconstruction usually learn a discrete mapping from RGB images to a number of spectral bands. However, this modeling strategy ignores the continuous nature of spectral signature. In this paper, we propose Neural Spectral Reconstruction (NeSR) to lift this limitation, by introducing a novel continuous spectral representation. To this end, we embrace the concept of implicit function and implement a parameterized embodiment with a neural network. Specifically, we first adopt a backbone network to extract spatial features of RGB inputs. Based on it, we devise Spectral Profile Interpolation (SPI) module and Neural Attention Mapping (NAM) module to enrich deep features, where the spatial-spectral correlation is involved for a better representation. Then, we view the number of sampled spectral bands as the coordinate of continuous implicit function, so as to learn the projection from deep features to spectral intensities. Extensive experiments demonstrate the distinct advantage of NeSR in reconstruction accuracy over baseline methods.
