Background: Sustainable development Goal (SDG) 6 is to “ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all”. This study aimed to estimate the proportion of households with access to improved drinking water source and improved sanitation facilities and identify predictors of access to improved drinking water source and improved sanitation facilities. Methodology: We used data from the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5). Improved sources of drinking water and Improved sanitation facilities were stratified by different socio demographic variables. Multivariate logistic regression was performed to estimate the determinants of Improved sources of drinking water and Improved sanitation facilities. Results: The national level proportion of households’ access to improved drinking water was 93.7% (95%CI 93.6%-93.8%) and access to Improved sanitation facilities was 78.8% (95%CI 78.7%-78.9%). The household related factors which had strong association with greater access to improved drinking water and sanitation facilities were households’ residing in urban areas, wealth index of richest, residing in pucca houses, nuclear families and household with female as Head of the family (Hof). Conclusions: Improvement in access is to be ensured among rural areas, households with poor wealth index and north, central, west and east states for achievement of SDG 6 by 2030.

In light of this, the research was conducted using a questionnaire amongst 130 individuals, to understand the various factors would influence their purchase of E-vehicles in four major cities i.e., Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kochin in South India. This study includes five factors: price difference, charging infrastructure, environmental concern, and speed. This study employed SPSS to conduct ANOVA, Pearson Correlation and Cronbach's Alpha to test the determining factors. Its found that there is positive correlation between the variables. Pancreatic cancer shows malignancy around the world standing in 4th position for causing death globally. This cancer is majorly divided into exocrine and neuroendocrine where exocrine pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is observed to be nearly 85% of cases. The lack of diagnosis of pancreatic cancer is considered to be one of the major drawbacks to the prognosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer patients. The survival rate after diagnosis is very low, due to the higher incidence of drug resistance to cancer which leads to an increase in the mortality rate. The transcriptome analysis for pancreatic cancer involves dataset collection from the ENA database, incorporating them into quality control analysis to the quantification process to get the summarized read counts present in collected samples and used for further differential gene expression analysis using the DESeq2 package. Additionally, explore the enriched pathways using GSEA software and represented them by utilizing the enrichment map finally, the gene network has been constructed by Cytoscape software. Furthermore, explored the hub genes that are present in the particular pathways and how they are interconnected from one pathway to another has been analyzed. Finally, we identified the CDKN1A, IL6, and MYC genes and their associated pathways can be better biomarker for the clinical processes to increase the survival rate of of pancreatic cancer.

Background: Adolescence is a transitional period of life between childhood and adulthood characterized by marked acceleration of growth both physically and mentally. Objectives: The objective of the study was to assess the lifestyle disease risk factors among high school students of government schools as compared to high school students of private schools. Materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted among high school students of both government and private schools for a period of 2 months in Tirupati. Among 4 government and 4 private schools, 884 high school students were included in the study. A pretested semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect information from students. This includes sociodemographic details, and lifestyle disease risk factors related to knowledge and practices were assessed. Weight and height were measured and body mass index (BMI) was calculated. Systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure were measured with manual sphygmomanometer. Results: Eight hundred and eighty-four students of age between 12 and 16 years were included in the study. Among them, 438 (49.5%) were in private schools and 446 (50.5%) were in government schools. Among all students, 1.1% (9/884) reported that they smoke tobacco products in the past 30 days and 2.3% (20/884) reported smoke tobacco products at any time in life. Most of the private school students (66.4%) were doing regular exercise compared to government school students (56.3%). The mean BMI was significantly high among private school students (18.9 ± 4.3) compared to government school students (18.1 ± 3.9). Conclusions: School is an important place where adolescent behavior was developed and provides environment that influences the development of behavior. The study shows that both government and private school students are equally exposed to risk factors of lifestyle diseases. Therefore, it is recommended that combined and coordinated efforts of health and education departments were required for the primary and primordial prevention of lifestyle diseases.

Hydrocephalus is a neurodevelopmental, X-linked recessive disorder caused by mutations in the L1CAM gene. The L1CAM gene encodes for L1CAM protein which is essential for the nervous system development including adhesion between neurons, Myelination, Synaptogenesis etc. Herein, the present study has reported mutations in L1 syndrome patient with Hydrocephalus and Adducted thumb. Genomic DNA was extracted from patients whole blood (n = 18). The 11 exons of the L1CAM gene were amplified using specific PCR primers. The sequenced data was analysed and the pathogenicity of the mutation was predicted using the various bioinformatics programs: PROVEAN, PolyPhen2, and MUpro. The results revealed that the proband described here had nonsense mutation G1120→T at position 1120 in exon 9 which is in extracellular immunoglobulin domain (Ig4) of the L1CAM gene. This nonsense mutation is found to be truncated with a deleterious effect on developing brain of the child, and this is the first report of this novel mutation in patient with X-linked Hydrocephalus in India.

The practice of telemedicine has a large number of advantages, including cost savings, low chances of nosocomial infection, and fewer hospital visits. Teleclinics have been reported to be successful in the post-surgery and post-cancer therapy follow-up, and in offering consulting services for urolithiasis patients. This review focuses on identifying the outcomes of the recent studies related to the usage of video consulting in urology centers for hematuria referrals and follow-up appointments for a variety of illnesses, including benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), kidney stone disease (KSD), and urinary tract infections (UTIs) and found that they are highly acceptable and satisfied. Certain medical disorders can cause embarrassment, social exclusion, and also poor self-esteem, all of which can negatively impair health-related quality-of-life. Telemedicine has proven beneficial in such patients and is a reliable, cost-effective patient-care tool, and it has been successfully implemented in various healthcare settings and specialties.

Background: Adolescent is the period of the life between the ages of 10-19 years. Adolescence is time to learn and adopt healthy habits to avoid many health and nutritional problems later in life. Objective of this study is to assess the nutritional status of adolescent girls by anthropometric measurements and to determine the association between different individual and family level factors with under nutrition. Methods: It is a community based cross-sectional study conducted among adolescent girls of age between 10-19 years in rural areas of Tirupati. The study sample was 188. BMI for age 11 years (17.1% vs 0%) and who are not doing regular physical activity(22.3% vs 9.2%). Multivariate binary logistic regression showed socioeconomic status, family size and physical activity are significant predictors of thinness. Conclusions: It can be concluded from this study that thinness was significantly high among adolescent girls with family size >5, who attained menarche at >11 years and who does not have the habit of doing regular physical activity.

This study explores the challenge of antimicrobial resistance by investigating the utilization of zinc oxide (ZnO) and copper oxide (Cu 2 O) nanoparticles (NPs) to combat antibiotic-resistant bacteria in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). The synthesized metal oxide NPs underwent thorough characterization through various analytical techniques, confirming their nanoparticulate nature. Electronic absorption and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses revealed successful reduction processes and crystalline properties, respectively. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) results indicated the stabilization of nanoparticles in solution. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observations revealed well-defined spherical and flower-like morphologies for the zinc and copper oxide nanoparticles, with sizes approximately ranging from 50 nm to 25 nm Notably, the synthesized nanoparticles exhibited heightened efficacy in impeding biofilm formation, with zinc oxide NPs displaying superior antibacterial activity compared to copper. These findings suggest the promising potential of these nanoparticles in controlling antibiotic-resistant organisms, even following WWTP treatment processes. This research contributes to the ongoing advancements in nanotechnology aimed at combating antibiotic resistance, offering new prospects for the development of effective wastewater treatment strategies.

We prepared a naturally occurring flavanoid namely quercetin from tea leaves and analyzed by Absorption, Emission, FT-IR, 1 H, 13 C nmr spectra and ESI-MS analysis. The inclusion behavior of quercetin in cyclodextrins like α-, β-, γ-, per-6-ABCD and mono-6-ABCD cavities were supported such as UV-vis., Emission, FT-IR and ICD spectra and energy minimization studies. From the absorption and emission results, the type of complexes formed were found to depend on stoichiometry of Host:Guest. FT-IR data of CD complexes of quercetin supported inclusion complex formation of the substrate with α-, β- and γ-CDs. The inclusion of host-guest complexation of quercetin with α-, β-, γ-CDs, per-6-ABCD and mono-6-ABCDs provides very valuable information about the CD:quercetin complexes, the study also shows that β-CD complexation improves water solubility, chemical stability and bioavailability of quercetin. Besides, phase solubility studies also supported the formation of 1:1 drug-CD soluble complexes. All these spectral results provide insight into the binding behavior of substrate into CD cavity in the order per-6-ABCD > Mono-6-ABCD > γ-CD > β-CD > α-CD. The intercalative yeast t-RNA binding behavior of some metallo-surfactant complexes, Co(ip) 2 (TA) 2 ](ClO 4 ) 3 ( 1 ) and [Co(dpq) 2 (TA) 2 ](ClO 4 ) 3 ( 2 ) where TA = Tetradecylamine (Myristylamine), ip = imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline and dpq = dipyrido[3,2-d:2'-3'-f]quinoxaline containing π-conjugated systems (both below and above critical micelle concentration) have been investigated by means of absorption spectral titration, competitive binding, circular dichroism, cyclic voltammetry, and viscometry measurements. Absorption spectral titration results implicate yeast tRNA has significant effects on the binding behaviors of two surfactant complexes via intercalative mode showed a significant absorption band of hypochromicity with red shift. The intrinsic binding constant values below and above CMC were determined as K b = 6.12 × 10 5 M -1 , 2.31 × 10 6 M -1 , for complex (1) and 7.23 × 10 5 M -1 , 3.57 × 10 6 M -1 , for complex (2). In both sets of complexes (1) and (2), the complexes bind more strongly to yeast tRNA in the above critical micelle concentration can be hydrophobic and confirm intercalation. Competitive displacement studies confirmed that complexes bind to yeast tRNA via intercalative mode. Cyclic voltammetry studies suggest the increasing amounts of yeast tRNA, the cathodic potential E pc for the two complexes shows a positive shift in peak potential indicated the process of binding via intercalation. These observations were further validated by CD, and hydrodynamic measurements. All these studies suggesting that a surfactant complex binds to yeast tRNA appear to be mainly intercalative because of hydrophobicity due to extending aromaticity of the π system of the ligand and planarity of the complex has a significant effect on tRNA binding affinity increasing in the order of complexes containing ligands ip < dpq.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. In this study, we report a new class of metallo-surfactant assisted silver nanoparticle produced by reduction process via AgNO 3 solution and extract of Turnera Subulata (TS) in aqueous which act as reducing and metallo-surfactant [Co(ip) 2 (C 12 H 25 NH 2 ) 2 ](ClO 4 ) 3 (ip = imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline) act as stabilizing agent. In this study the silver nanoparticles produced using Turnera Subulata extract has showed yellowish brown color formation and an absorption peak at 421 nm signaling the biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles. The presence of functional groups in the plant extracts were identified by FTIR analysis. In addition, the effects of ratio, changing the concentration of the metallo surfactant, TS plant leave extract, metal precursors, and pH of the medium have been investigated on the scale of the Ag nanoparticles. Spherical shaped, crystalline in nature and ∼50 nm sized particles were recorded using TEM and DLS analysis. Furthermore, the mechanistic insights into cysteine and dopa detection by silver nanoparticles were investigated using HR-TEM analysis. This induces aggregation in stable silver nanoparticles owing to selective and strong interaction of -SH group of cysteine with silver nanoparticle surface. The binding interaction of surfactant cobalt(III) complex, cis-[Co(bpy) 2 (HA) 2 ](ClO 4 ) 3 , in which bpy is 2,2-bipyridine and HA is hexadecylamine or cetylamnine with DNA was through intercalative mode via the long aliphatic chains present in the ligands. The binding was investigated by various techniques, electronic absorption, fluorescence spectroscopy, circular dichroism (CD), cyclic voltametry (CV) and viscosimetry measurements. The spectroscopic studies together with cyclic voltammetry and viscosity experiments support that the surfactant cobalt(III) complex binds to calf thymus DNA by intercalation through the aliphatic chain present in the complex into the base pairs of DNA. The presence of bipyridine ligand with larger π-frame work may also enhance intercalation. UV-vis., spectrum showed 4 nm bathochromic shift of the absorption band at 352 nm along with significant hypochromicity for the absorption band of the complex. The intrinsic binding constants(at below and above CMC are K b  = 2.41 × 10 5 M -1 , K b  = 3.12 × 10 6 M -1 respectively) is more in keeping with intercalators and suggests this binding mode. The viscosity measurements showed that the surfactant cobalt(III) complex-DNA interaction can be hydrophobic and confirm intercalation. Moreover, the complex induced detectable changes in the CD spectrum of CT-DNA. Competitive binding study with ethidium bromide (EB) shows that the surfactant complex exhibits the ability to displace the DNA-bound EB indicating that the complex binds to DNA in strong competition with EB for the intercalative binding site. Also, CV results confirm this mode because, with increasing the CT-DNA concentration, shift to higher potential was observed. Besides the effect of binding of surfactant cobalt(III) complex to DNA in presence of β-cyclodextrin has also studied. This binding of the surfactant cobalt(III) complex in presence of β-cyclodextrin medium has been prevented (at below and above CMC are K b  = 5.45 × 10 4 M -1 , K b  = 6.92 × 10 5 M -1 respectively) due to the incorporation of the aliphatic chains into the cavity of β-cyclodextrin.
