Objective: To compare the diagnostic performance between mDixon sequence and WHCA TFE sequence using SPIR for non-contrast-enhanced coronary MRA in patients with suspected coronary artery disease (CAD). Method: This prospective study recruited 45 patients who were scheduled for X-ray coronary angiography (CAG) with suspected CAD in Yantai Yuhuangding hospital. Patients underwent both 3.0T WHCA TFE using SPIR and mDixon coronary MRA examinations before undergoing CAG. Two radiologists independently assessed coronary arteries in terms of subjective image quality (on a scale of 1~5, with 5 denoting the highest image quality), vessel length, vessel diameter, and presence of significant stenoses. CAG was used as the reference standard for detecting the presence of stenoses. Vessel length and diameter were compared between sequences using paired t-tests. Subjective image quality scores were compared between sequences using Wilcoxon tests. Sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy were compared between sequences using McNemar tests. Positive and negative predictive values were compared between sequences using the joint hypotheses test. Results: Two CMRA examinations were successfully performed in 40 (88.9%) of 45 patients for analysis. The objective image quality of 3.0T mDixon assessed by both radiologists was (3.9±0.9), and the 3.0T WHCA TFE using SPIR was (3.7±0.9). The mDixon sequence exhibited higher sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value in per-segment analysis (78.5% vs. 66.1%, 96.5% vs. 93.8%, 91.7% vs. 86.6%, 88.6% vs. 78.9%, and 93.4% vs. 88.7%) and higher sensitivity and accuracy in per-vessel analysis (89.4% vs. 81.6% and 89.1% vs. 83.3%). Conclusion: In comparison with 3.0T WHCA TFE sequence using SPIR, mDixon demonstrated superior diagnostic performance.

Abstract The paper addresses the economic operation optimization problem of photovoltaic charging-swapping-storage integrated stations (PCSSIS) in high-penetration distribution networks. It proposes a dual-layer optimization scheduling model for PCSSIS clusters and distribution network systems. Firstly, a master–slave game model is constructed. The upper layer takes the high-penetration distribution network as the decision-making entity and aims to maximize its own revenue while considering the energy trading of PCSSIS. The lower layer takes PCSSIS as the decision-making entity, and PCSSIS adjusts energy flow and optimizes revenue based on the internal electricity price provided by the upper-layer distribution network. Secondly, the differential evolution algorithm and GUROBI solver are used to solve for the maximum revenue, internal electricity price, and electricity consumption of PCSSIS and the distribution network. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed strategy is verified through case studies and simulations.

Abstract Objectives This study intended to explore whether the protective effect safflower yellow injection (SYI) on myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats mediated of the NLRP3 inflammasome signaling. Methods The I/R model was prepared by ligating the left anterior descending coronary artery for 45 min and then releasing the blood flow for 150 min. 96 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into sham group, I/R group, Hebeishuang group (HBS), SYI high-dose group (I/R + SYI-H), SYI medium-dose group (I/R + SYI-M) and SYI low-dose group (I/R + SYI-L). Cell experiments were divided into normal control group (NC), Oxygen glucose deprivation/reoxygenation group (OGD/R), OGD/R + SYI group, OGD/R + SYI + Chloroquine group (OGD/R + SYI + CQ). The area of myocardial ischemia infarction and pathological changes were observed by the Tetrazolium method (TTC) and HE staining. Myocardial enzymes such as aspartate aminotransferase (AST), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and creatine kinase (CK) were measured by chemiluminescence (CL) method. The inflammatory factors levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, MCP-1, and IL-6 were detected by ELISA. The expressions of inflammatory-related proteins (Caspase-1, NLRP3, TLR4, NF-κB), autophagosome-related proteins (LC3-I, LC3-II,LC3-II/LC3-I), apoptosis-related proteins (Bax, Bcl-2, Caspase-3, Bcl-2/Bax) and autophagy-related proteins (p62/SQSTM1, PI3K, p-Akt, mTOR) were detected by Western-Blot. Cell morphology and cell viability were detected by transmission electron microscopy and CCK-8. Results In vivo, compared with sham group, the percentage of myocardial infarction area was increased and myocardial tissue arrangement was disordered in I/R group. In addition, the activities of myocardial enzymes, the contents of inflammatory factors, the expressions of inflammatory-related proteins, autophagy-related proteins, autophagosome-related proteins, Bax and Caspase-3 were increased, while Bcl-2 and Bcl-2/Bax were decreased. SYI treatment reversed these trends, except for the expression of autophagosome-related proteins. In vitro, SYI decreased the contents of inflammatory factors and the expressions of inflammatory-related proteins, autophagy-related proteins and autophagosome-related proteins caused by OGD/R. However, the contents of inflammatory factors and the expression of inflammatory-related proteins, p62/SQSTM1 and mTOR were increased, while PI3K, p-AKT, LC3-II/LC3-I were significantly decreased in OGD/R + SYI + CQ group. Conclusions SYI can promote myocardial tissue autophagy by regulating NLRP3, thereby attenuating the myocardial inflammatory response and protecting damaged myocardium in I/R rats.

Abstract The objective of the present study was to examine the impact of different plyometric training (PT) surfaces on the adaptive changes of jumping ability, sprinting speed, change of direction ability and strength performance in volleyball players. Forty male players participated in the study and were divided into four equal groups performing PT in aquatic (APT), sand (SPT), and land (LPT) surfaces, or an active control group (CON). Abstract Optical image method has been the earliest and most used direct method for observing gas discharge. Currently, research on gas discharge monitoring based on visible light mainly relies on high‐speed cameras, but the large size, significant data storage requirements, and susceptibility to interference from complex backgrounds and lighting conditions limit their further application. Dynamic vision sensing (DVS) technology is a neuromorphic sensing technology that asynchronously measures the luminance changes at each pixel. It offers advantages such as a large dynamic range (>120 dB), high temporal resolution (up to 1 µs), and small data volume (MB level). In this study, dynamic vision sensing technology was employed to monitor both 30 mm short‐gaps and 1080 mm long‐gaps discharge processes simultaneously. This study developed the CountImage encoding method for event data and conducted image reconstruction, time‐domain analysis, and frequency‐domain characteristic analysis based on the event data. The results show that the event‐reconstructed images are highly consistent with the high‐speed camera images, and the arc development process and its path can also be clearly observed. Additionally, this study discovered a correlation between the electrical characteristics and event information during the discharge process. In the time domain, the duration of the maximum DVS event count closely matches the duration during which the voltage drops to zero during flashover. In the frequency domain, the Pearson correlation coefficient between the event stream spectrum and the voltage signal spectrum is greater than 0.95. Both the maximum number of brightening events (ONmax) and the maximum number of darkening events (OFFmax) are positively correlated with the voltage applied between the electrodes. This study demonstrates that, compared to the GB/s data rate of high‐speed cameras, this approach can record the discharge process and accurately reconstruct the discharge process, arc morphology, and discharge path at MB/s data rates, while also adapting to changes in brightness without the need for exposure adjustment. Additionally, there is a positive correlation between the frequency‐domain characteristics of the event data and the voltage characteristics. These results indicate that dynamic vision sensing holds promise as a replacement for high‐speed cameras in laboratory discharge observations and could be even effectively applied to discharge monitoring in electrical equipment in real grid.

Abstract Although astrocytes undergo functional changes in response to brain injury and may be the driving force of subsequent neuronal death, the underlying mechanisms remain incompletely elucidated. Here, we showed that extracellular vesicle (EV)-shuttled miRNA-382-5p may serve as a biomarker for the severity of traumatic brain injury (TBI), as the circulating EV-miRNA-382-5p level was significantly increased in both human patients and TBI model mice. Mechanistically, astrocyte-derived EVs delivered the shuttled miRNA-382-5p to mediate astrocyte–neuron communication, which promoted neuronal mitochondrial dysfunction by inhibiting the expression of optic atrophy-1 (OPA1). Consistent with these findings, genetic ablation of neuronal OPA1 exacerbated mitochondrial damage and neuronal apoptosis in response to TBI. Moreover, engineered RVG-miRNA-382-5p inhibitor-EVs, which can selectively deliver a miRNA-382-5p inhibitor to neurons, significantly attenuated mitochondrial damage and improved neurological function after TBI. Taken together, our data suggest that EV-shuttled miRNA-382-5p may be a critical mediator of astrocyte-induced neurotoxicity under pathological conditions and that targeting miRNA-382-5p-OPA1 signaling has potential for clinical translation in the treatment of traumatic brain injury.

Abstract Background Diabetic polyneuropathy (DPN) is a common diabetes complication with limited treatment options. We aimed to identify circulating plasma proteins as potential therapeutic targets for DPN using Mendelian Randomization (MR). Methods The protein quantitative trait loci (pQTLs) utilized in this study were derived from seven previously published genome-wide association studies (GWASs) on plasma proteomics. The DPN data were obtained from the IEU OpenGWAS project. This study employed two-sample MR using MR-Egger and inverse-variance weighted methods to evaluate the causal relationship between plasma proteins and DPN risk, with Cochran’s Q test, and I2 statistics, among other methods, used to validate the robustness of the results. Results Using cis-pQTLs as genetic instruments, we identified 62 proteins associated with DPN, with 33 increasing the risk and 29 decreasing the risk of DPN. Using cis-pQTLs + trans-pQTLs, we identified 116 proteins associated with DPN, with 44 increasing the risk and 72 decreasing the risk of DPN. Steiger directionality tests indicated that the causal relationships between circulating plasma proteins and DPN were consistent with expected directions. Conclusion This study identified 96 circulating plasma proteins with genetically determined levels that affect the risk of DPN, providing new potential targets for DPN drug development, particularly ITM2B, CREG1, CD14, and PLXNA4.

Purpose: Autologous osteoperiosteal transplantation (AOPT) is one of the most feasible and effective techniques for cystic osteochondral lesions of the talus (OLT). However, few reports have been reported about the process of graft-host bone healing and bone articular surface reconstruction, which help us to further understand the actual situation of bone healing and modify surgical methods. Methods: The case series study retrospectively evaluated 33 osteochondral lesions in 30 patients undertaking AOPT for OLT with subchondral cysts from December 2016 to October 2021. According to CT observation, we used 4 variables to describe the bony articular repair, including the integration of the articular surface, the height of the bone filling, the status of bone union, and the appearance of bone resorption or cystic change. We also analyzed the demographic data and clinical function. Descriptive statistics were used for demographic and clinical variables. Normally distributed data were presented as mean ± SD, and non-normally distributed data were presented as median (Q1, Q3). Associations between these variables and the primary clinical outcomes were examined using t-test or one-way ANOVA test for continuous variables. Results: The patients’ mean age was (41.7 ± 14.0) years old and the mean follow-up time was (29.6 ± 17.8) months. The chondral lesion size was (14.3 ± 4.1) mm. The cyst depth was (10.9 ± 3.7) mm. Significant improvements were observed in functional outcomes (according to the numeric rating scale for pain when walking and the American orthopedic foot and ankle society score) between the preoperative and latest follow-up evaluations, from 4.2 ± 2.1 to 2.2 ± 2.0 (p 1 mm” was found in 27 grafts (81.8%), and “below the level of the adjacent articular surface, ≤ 1 mm” in a third of the grafts. Abnormal height of bone filling affected numeric rating scale score (p = 0.049) and American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society score (p = 0.027). Of note, bone resorption or cystic changes appeared in up to 13 autografts (39.4%). Conclusions: AOPT is an effective and acceptable technique for cystic OLT. Bone reconstruction is essential for large cystic OLT. How to get better bony articular reconstruction and avoid cyst recurrence should still be paid more attention.

Abstract This study aimed to assess sand and dust storm (SDS) risks in arid Central Asia during 2001–2021 from a multisectoral (environment, society, and agriculture) and comprehensive perspective on the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform. The results show that the areas with moderate or greater SDS risk accounted for 18.75% of the total area of arid Central Asia. The high SDS risk areas are mainly concentrated in the oases around the desert and are most widely distributed in spring and summer. The SDS risk in the oasis area of southern Xinjiang increased significantly, while the SDS risk in the northeastern Aral Sea region and the Kazakh hilly region decreased significantly over the 21 years. Khwarazm of Uzbekistan, located in the Amu Darya River Delta, is the administrative district with the highest comprehensive risk of sandstorms, and the Balkan State of Turkmenistan and Kashi City and Zepu County in China are the administrative districts with the highest multisectoral risk of sandstorms. The results of this study provide a complete picture of SDS risks in the arid Central Asia region and will provide some guidance to policymakers and local authorities in SDS risk mitigation.

As a source substitution technology that reduces pollutants emission and optimizes sinter properties, H2-rich gas injection-assisted iron ore sintering holds significant practical value. This study analyzed the adaptability of this technology to different ore blend ratios and basicity levels by comparing sintering indexes, pore structure, mineral phase composition, and metallurgical performance before and after H2-rich gas injection. The carbon emission reduction following H2-rich gas injection was calculated. The results indicate that increasing the proportion of high-silica, low-alumina ore (Ore-A) and basicity, along with H2-rich gas injection, can effectively enhance sinter yield and quality, but shrink the pore structure of sinter. Under H2-rich gas injection conditions, decreasing Ore-A ratios and increasing basicity can augment SFCA phase formation and mineral phase uniformity, thereby improving the anti-pulverization ability and reductivity of the sinter. H2-rich gas injection presents better adaptability to sintered ore with lower Ore-A ratio and basicity, which can achieve greater improvements in the sintering indexes, RDI, and RI. For a 265 m2 sinter plant producing sinter with 18 wt% Ore-A and 2.0 basicity, annual CO2 emissions can be reduced by approximately 40,000 t.

Abstract Emergency medical services (EMS) is a system that provides emergency medical care for incidents involving serious illness or injury. The location of EMS stations plays an essential role in delivering effective and efficient medical services. Numerous location models have been developed for locating and sizing EMS stations. However, it remains challenging to satisfy all EMS planning criteria within a single location model. In this study, a multi-period capacitated facility location problem with maximum travel time and backup service (EMSLSP) is proposed for locating and sizing EMS stations. The most important criteria for EMS planning are taken into account in EMSLSP: the demand changes due to population mobility, the maximum service capacity of an ambulance, the maximum number of ambulances at each EMS station, the maximum travel time from each EMS station to the locations it serves, the full coverage of dynamic demand, the minimum percent of population covered by EMS service in a specific travel time, and a backup station for each demand location in case of need. A case study in Zhengzhou, a large city in China, demonstrates that effective and efficient locations and sizes of EMS stations can be determined by solving the EMSLSP with various planning parameters. Compared with the existing EMS systems, the average ambulance travel time and the percentage of the population served are significantly improved. Simulations of ambulance scheduling confirm that the relocated and resized EMS stations perform better than those in the existing system. The evaluation-optimization-simulation method outlined in this paper provides a comprehensive and effective approach for EMS station planning.

Abstract Two-dimensional (2D) multiferroic materials are recognized as promising candidates for next-generation nanodevices due to their tunable magnetoelectric coupling and distinctive physical phenomena. In this study, we proposed a novel 2D multiferroic van der Waals heterostructure (vdWH) by stacking atomic layers of ferroelectric In2Se3 and ferromagnetic MnI3. Using first-principles calculations, we found that the MnI3/In2Se3 vdWH exhibit robust metallic conductivity across various spin and polarization states, preserving the distinctive band characteristics of isolated In2Se3 and MnI3. However, the alignment of Fermi levels causes the conduction band minimum (CBM) and valence band maximum (VBM) of In2Se3 and MnI3 to shift relative to their original band structures. Remarkably, the MnI3/In2Se3 with the upward polarization state of In2Se3 exhibits an Ohmic contact. Switching the polarization direction of In2Se3 from upward to downward can transform the MnI3/In2Se3 vdWH from an Ohmic contact to a p-type Schottky contact, while also modifying its dipole moment, magnetic strength and direction. Based on these properties of MnI3/In2Se3 vdWH, we designed the field-effect transistors (FETs) with high on/off rates and nonvolatile data storage device. Furthermore, the Schottky barrier heights (SBHs), magnetic moment, and dipole moment of MnI3/In2Se3 vdWH can also be effectively regulated by reducing the interlayer distance. With the continuous reduction of the interlayer distance of MnI3/In2Se3 vdWH, its easy magnetization axis is expected to shift from in-plane to out-of-plane. These findings offer new insights for the design and development of the next-generation spintronic and nonvolatile memory nanodevices.

Abstract Background Metabolic syndrome (MetS) imposes a significant health burden on patients globally. Chronic low-grade inflammation is pivotal in the onset and progression of this condition. However, the role of the novel inflammatory marker, red cell distribution width to albumin ratio (RAR), in the development of MetS remains unclear. Methods This population-based cross-sectional study utilized data from the 2011–2020 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Participants included individuals over 18 years old with complete data on serum albumin concentration, red cell distribution, and MetS and its components. MetS was defined using the criteria established by the National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III. The calculation formula for RAR is: RAR = Red cell distribution width (%)/serum albumin (g/dL). Study participants were stratified into four quartiles based on RAR levels. Logistic regression analysis and subgroup analysis were employed to explore the independent interaction between RAR and MetS, as well as investigate the relationship between RAR levels and the specific components of MetS. Finally, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to assess the predictive efficacy of RAR for MetS. Results A total of 4899 participants were included in this study, comprising 2450 males and 2449 females; 1715 individuals (35.01%) were diagnosed with MetS. As the quartile of RAR increased, the proportion of individuals with MetS also increased. Spearman correlation analysis indicated a positive correlation between RAR and the insulin resistance index HOMA-IR. Logistic regression analysis, adjusting for multiple confounding factors, showed that each standard deviation increase in RAR was associated with a significant 1.665-fold increase (95% CI, 1.404–1.975; P

Abstract Background β-1,3-Galactosyltransferase-4 (B3GALT4), a member of the β-1,3-galactosyltransferase gene family, is essential to the development of many malignancies. However, its biological function in breast cancer is still unknown. Method Publically accessible datasets, as well as quantitative real-time PCR, western blot, and immunohistochemistry on our patient cohort were used to investigate the expression levels of B3GALT4 in breast cancer. The correlation of B3GALT4 expression with clinical histopathological data and mortality in breast cancer patients was investigated. The effects of B3GALT4 in breast cancer in vitro and in vivo were investigated. RNA-seq, western blot, autophagolysosomes, and the fluorescence intensity of LC3 were used to explore the effects of B3GALT4 on autophagy. Western blot and gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) were used to identify the AKT/mTOR pathway. Results B3GALT4 was significantly overexpressed in breast cancer tissues and was positively correlated with some aspects of clinicopathological status and poor prognosis. B3GALT4 overexpression significantly promoted cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, both in vitro and in vivo. B3GALT4 inhibition suppressed breast cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in vitro. Suppression of B3GALT4 triggered autophagy and hindered the AKT/mTOR signaling pathway. Conclusion According to the present research, B3GALT4 blocked autophagy via the AKT/mTOR pathway and accelerated the growth of breast cancer. B3GALT4 may be an effective target for patients with breast cancer.

Abstract Background Buyang Huanwu Decoction (BYHWD) is a traditional Chinese medicine to treat the syndrome of qi deficiency and blood stasis. Platelets play an important role in regulating thrombus and inflammation after ischemic injury, studies have shown that BYHWD regulate myocardial fibrosis and exert anti-inflammatory effects through IL-17 and TLR4 pathways, but the mechanism of platelet activation by BYHWD in stable coronary heart disease is still unknown. In the present study, model of left anterior descending coronary artery ligation was applied to investigate the mechanisms of BYHWD on modulating platelets hyperreactivity and heart function after fibrosis of ischemic myocardial infarction (MI). Methods Myocardial infarction model was constructed by ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery. The rats were randomly divided into five groups: sham, model, MI with aspirin (positive), MI with a low dosage of BYHWD (BYHWD-ld) and MI with a high dosage of BYHWD (BYHWD-hd) for 28 days. Results Coronary artery ligation prominently induced left ventricle dysfunction, increased cardiomyocyte fibrosis, which was accompanied by platelets with hyperreactivity, and high levels of inflammatory factors. BYHWD obviously reversed cardiac dysfunction and fibrosis, increased the thickness of the left ventricular wall, and inhibited aggregation ratio and CD62p expression. BYHWD restored the mitochondrial respiration of platelets after MI, concomitant with an increased telomere expression and decreased inflammation. According to the result of transcriptome sequencing, we found that 106 differentially expressed genes compared model with BYHWD treatment. Enrichment analysis screened out the Ras-related protein Rap-1 (Rap1) signaling pathway and platelet activation biological function. Quantitative real-time PCR and Western blotting were applied to found that BYHWD reduced the expression of Rap1/PI3K-Akt/Src-CDC42 genes and attenuated the overactivity of PI3 kinase/Rap1/integrin α(IIb)β(3) pathway. Conclusion BYHWD reduced inflammation and platelet activation via the PI3 kinase/Rap1/integrin α(IIb)β(3) pathway and improved heart function after MI. Graphical Abstract

Abstract Background UV-B, an important environmental factor, has been shown to affect the yield and quality of rice (Oryza sativa) worldwide. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the response to UV-B stress remain elusive in rice. Results We perform comprehensive metabolic profiling of leaves from 160 diverse rice accessions under UV-B and normal light conditions using a widely targeted metabolomics approach. Our results reveal substantial differences in metabolite accumulation between the two major rice subspecies indica and japonica, especially after UV-B treatment, implying the possible role and mechanism of metabolome changes in subspecies differentiation and the stress response. We next conduct a transcriptome analysis from four representative rice varieties under UV-B stress, revealing genes from amino acid and flavonoid pathways involved in the UV-B response. We further perform a metabolite-based genome-wide association study (mGWAS), which reveals 3307 distinct loci under UV-B stress. Identification and functional validation of candidate genes show that OsMYB44 regulates tryptamine accumulation to mediate UV-B tolerance, while OsUVR8 interacts with OsMYB110 to promote flavonoid accumulation and UV-B tolerance in a coordinated manner. Additionally, haplotype analysis suggests that natural variation of OsUVR8 groupA contributes to UV-B resistance in rice. Conclusions Our study reveals the complex biochemical and genetic foundations that govern the metabolite dynamics underlying the response, tolerance, and adaptive strategies of rice to UV-B stress. These findings provide new insights into the biochemical and genetic basis of the metabolome underlying the crop response, tolerance, and adaptation to UV-B stress.

Brain functional hypernetworks that can characterize the complex and multivariate interactions among multiple brain regions have been widely used in the diagnosis and prediction of brain diseases. However, there are few studies on the structure and dynamics of brain functional hypernetworks. Such studies can help to explore how the important functional features of brain functional hypernetworks characterize the working and pathological mechanisms of the human brain. Therefore, this article introduces the hypernetwork null model to analyze the dependencies between the features of interest. Specifically, first, based on the original brain functional hypernetwork, this article proposed the optimized hyper dK-series algorithm with hyperedges to construct null models that preserved the different node attributes and hyperedge attributes of the original brain functional hypernetwork, respectively. Next, based on the original hypernetwork model and the null model, multiple node attributes and hyperedge attributes were respectively introduced. Then, the level of similarity and correlation between the topological attributes of the original brain functional hypernetwork and the topological attributes of the brain functional hypernetwork null model were calculated to analyze the dependencies between the features of interest. The results showed that there were differences in the level of dependence between the features of interest. Node degree is the main dependency attribute for multiple metrics. Hyperedge degree, node degree-dependent redundancy coefficient, and hyperedge degree-dependent redundancy coefficient are partial dependency attributes for some metrics. The dependency attributes and level of dependency are the same for the hypernetwork clustering coefficients—HCC2 and HCC3. This indicates that the node degree is redundant with respect to other attributes, while the hyperedge degree, node degree-dependent redundancy coefficient, and hyperedge degree-dependent redundancy coefficient perhaps contain other topology information. In addition, there is redundancy between HCC2 and HCC3. Therefore, the effects of these redundant attributes need to be considered when performing network analysis.

Exercise can effectively prevent and treat depression and anxiety, with gut microbiota playing a crucial role in this process. Studies have shown that exercise can influence the diversity and composition of gut microbiota, which in turn affects depression through immune, endocrine, and neural pathways in the gut-brain axis. The effectiveness of exercise varies based on its type, intensity, and duration, largely due to the different changes in gut microbiota. This article summarizes the possible mechanisms by which exercise affects gut microbiota and how gut microbiota influences depression. Additionally, we reviewed literature on the effects of exercise on depression at different intensities, types, and durations to provide a reference for future exercise-based therapies for depression.

Abstract The realization of highly operationally stable blue organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) is a challenge in both academia and industry. This paper describes the development of anthracene–dibenzofuran host materials, 2‐(10‐(naphthalen‐1‐yl)anthracen‐9‐yl)naphtho[2,3‐b]benzofuran (Host 1) and 2‐(10‐([1,1′‐biphenyl]‐2‐yl)anthracen‐9‐yl)naphtho[2,3‐b]benzofuran (Host 2), namely for use in the emissive layer of an OLED stack. A multiple‐resonance thermally activated delayed serves as the blue fluorescence emitter and exhibits an initial luminance of 1000 cd m−2 and long operational stability (i.e., time to decay to 90% of initial luminance) of 249 h. Furthermore, a deep‐blue OLED with an optimized top‐emitting architecture with a high current efficiency of 154.3 cd A−1, is fabricated and calibrated to a Commission International de l’Éclairage y chromaticity coordinate of 0.048. Moreover, the emission spectrum of this OLED has a narrowband peak at 476 nm with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 16 nm. This work provides valuable insights into the design of anthracene‐based host materials and highlights the importance of host optimization in improving the operational stability of OLEDs.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging technology has significant advantages in in situ and noninvasive monitoring of biological tissues. However, it still faces the following challenges: including data processing speed, image quality, and improvements in three-dimensional (3D) visualization effects. OCT technology, especially functional imaging techniques like optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), requires a long acquisition time and a large data size. Despite the substantial increase in the acquisition speed of swept source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT), it still poses significant challenges for data processing. Additionally, during in situ acquisition, image artifacts resulting from interface reflections or strong reflections from biological tissues and culturing containers present obstacles to data visualization and further analysis. Firstly, a customized frequency domain filter with anti-banding suppression parameters was designed to suppress artifact noises. Then, this study proposed a graphics processing unit (GPU)-based real-time data processing pipeline for SS-OCT, achieving a measured line-process rate of 800[Formula: see text]kHz for 3D fast and high-quality data visualization. Furthermore, a GPU-based real-time data processing for CC-OCTA was integrated to acquire dynamic information. Moreover, a vascular-like network chip was prepared using extrusion-based 3D printing and sacrificial materials, with sacrificial material being printed at the desired vascular network locations and then removed to form the vascular-like network. OCTA imaging technology was used to monitor the progression of sacrificial material removal and vascular-like network formation. Therefore, GPU-based OCT enables real-time processing and visualization with artifact suppression, making it particularly suitable for in situ noninvasive longitudinal monitoring of 3D bioprinting tissue and vascular-like networks in microfluidic chips.

Abstract The VCPIP1‐P97/VCP (Valosin‐Containing Protein) complex is required for post‐mitotic Golgi cisternae reassembly and maintenance in interphase. However, the organization and mechanism of this complex in regulating Golgi membrane fusion is still elusive. Here, the cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures of the human VCPIP1‐P97/VCP complex are presented. These studies reveal that three independent VCPIP1 molecules sit over the C‐terminal substrate exit tunnel formed by P97/VCP homo‐hexamer, resulting in an unusual C3 to C6 symmetric barrel architecture. The UFD1 (unknown function domain 1) from VCPIP1, but not the N‐terminal OTU domain and the C‐terminal UBL domain, docks to the two adjacent D2 domains of P97/VCP, allosterically causing the cofactors binding domain‐NTDs (N‐terminal domains) of P97/VCP in a “UP” and D1 domain in an ATPase competent conformation. Conversely, VCPIP1 bound P97/VCP hexamer favors the binding of P47, and thus the intact SNARE complex, promoting Golgi membrane fusion. These studies not only reveal the unexpected organization of humanVCPIP1‐P97/VCP complex, but also provide new insights into the mechanism of VCPIP1‐P97/VCP mediated Golgi apparatus reassembly, which is a fundamental cellular event for protein and lipid processing.

We are far from understanding the spatial patterns of dryland soil carbon and nitrogen stocks and how they vary among different land cover types. We used data from 12,000 sites from 129 countries in global drylands to estimate soil organic carbon (SOC) and total nitrogen (STN) stocks in different land cover types, explore the factors driving their spatial distribution, and predict the trends under different climate scenarios in global drylands. SOC and STN stocks in the upper 100 cm reached 419.5 and 38.2 Pg, respectively, with the upper 0–30 cm accounting for half of them. The largest SOC stocks were found in forests, shrublands and grasslands, while STN stocks peaked in forests, bare areas and croplands. The factors driving the spatial patterns of SOC and STN varied among soil depths, with mean annual temperature, pH and aridity being the main factors driving the spatial patterns in SOC and STN density for 0–30 cm, and soil texture the strongest factor for 60–100 cm. Under the Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP) 4.5 scenario, SOC and STN stocks were predicted to decrease by 3.6 % and 4.0 %, respectively, from 2020 to 2100, whereas under the RCP 8.5 scenario, the projected decreases were 5.9 % and 6.4 % respectively. Our results indicate that if we want to accurately predict C and N accumulation, and design effective mitigation measures in terrestrial ecosystems under future climatic scenarios, we need to better explore the drivers that operate at the deeper soil depths, which also accumulate a significant amount of SOC and STN.

In order to prevent damage to the support equipment caused by rock burst, a torsion plate energy absorption member is designed to be used with hydraulic columns. Explicit dynamic simulation is used and compared with the tests. The equations of structural parameters to the mean value of the reaction force (Fmean), specific energy absorption (SEA), and mean squared deviation (σ) are constructed based on the response surface method. The structural parameters are optimized using MOPSO. The results indicate that the torsion plate exhibits excellent energy absorption characteristics. The error rate of the simulation compared to the test is less than 5%, indicating a high level of simulation accuracy. All three sets of response fitted equations have R2 above 0.97, indicating a good fit. The three evaluation indexes demonstrate a trend of increasing then decreasing as the torsion angle increases. The wall thickness is positively correlated with the influence of each parameter index, while the effect of fillet radius is reversed. The maximum relative error of the predicted value is 9.50%. After optimization, the Fmean is effectively increased by more than 78%, the SEA is increased by more than 24.72%. The σ is increased by 8.31%, the optimization effect is remarkable.

Abstract A variety of complex socioeconomic phenomena, for example, migration, commuting, and trade can be abstracted by spatial interaction networks, where nodes represent geographic locations and weighted edges convey the interaction and its strength. However, obtaining fine-grained spatial interaction data is very challenging in practice due to limitations in collection methods and costs, so spatial interaction data such as transportation data and trade data are often only available at a coarse scale. Here, we propose a gravity downscaling (GD) method based on readily accessible socioeconomic data and the gravity law to infer fine-grained interactions from coarse-grained data. GD assumes that interactions of different spatial scales are governed by the similar gravity law and thus can transfer the parameters estimated from coarse-grained regions to fine-grained regions. Results show that GD has an average improvement of 24.6% in Mean Absolute Percentage Error over alternative downscaling methods (i.e., the areal-weighted method and machine learning models) across datasets with different spatial scales and in various regions. Using simple assumptions, GD enables accurate downscaling of spatial interactions, making it applicable to a wide range of fields, including human mobility, transportation, and trade.

Abstract DSR2, a Sir2 domain-containing protein, protects bacteria from phage infection by hydrolyzing NAD+. The enzymatic activity of DSR2 is triggered by the SPR phage tail tube protein (TTP), while suppressed by the SPbeta phage-encoded DSAD1 protein, enabling phages to evade the host defense. However, the molecular mechanisms of activation and inhibition of DSR2 remain elusive. Here, we report the cryo-EM structures of apo DSR2, DSR2-TTP-NAD+ and DSR2-DSAD1 complexes. DSR2 assembles into a head-to-head tetramer mediated by its Sir2 domain. The C-terminal helical regions of DSR2 constitute four partner-binding cavities with opened and closed conformation. Two TTP molecules bind to two of the four C-terminal cavities, inducing conformational change of Sir2 domain to activate DSR2. Furthermore, DSAD1 competes with the activator for binding to the C-terminal cavity of DSR2, effectively suppressing its enzymatic activity. Our results provide the mechanistic insights into the DSR2-mediated anti-phage defense system and DSAD1-dependent phage immune evasion.

IntroductionAcer truncatum Bunge, belonging to the Acer genus in the Aceraceae family, is a commonly planted afforestation species across China, Japan, Korea, Europe, and North America. Renowned for its vibrant fall colors, it holds significant ecological and ornamental value.MethodsIn this study, Acer truncatum ' Lihong ' was used as the research object. Starting from the callus induction of explants, the embryogenic callus of Acer truncatum 'Lihong' was obtained by systematically optimizing the medium and culture conditions. Then, the candidate gene AtrGST894 screened by transcriptome sequencing was transformed into embryogenic callus by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. The genetic transformation system of Acer truncatum 'Lihong' embryogenic callus was initially established by continuously adjusting the conditions of Agrobacterium tumefaciens infection receptor materials, thus laying a material foundation for the study of the molecular regulation mechanism of Acer truncatum 'Lihong' leaf color, and also preparing for the later molecular improvement breeding of Acer truncatum. Although there was partial browning, it could continue to proliferate. Therefore, in future experiments, the focus is still to continue to verify the optimal conditions for optimizing the genetic transformation of Acer truncatum embryogenic callus and to solve the problems of difficulty in embryonic callus germination.

Abstract Multiplexing technology creates several orthogonal data channels and dimensions for high‐density information encoding and is irreplaceable in large‐capacity information storage, and communication, etc. The multiplexing dimensions are constructed by light attributes and spatial dimensions. However, limited by the degree of freedom of interaction between light and material structure parameters, the multiplexing dimension exploitation method is still confused. Herein, a 7D Spin‐multiplexing technique is proposed. Spin structures with four independent attributes (color center type, spin axis, spatial distribution, and dipole direction) are constructed as coding basic units. Based on the four independent spin physical effects, the corresponding photoluminescence wavelength, magnetic field, microwave, and polarization are created into four orthogonal multiplexing dimensions. Combined with the 3D of space, a 7D multiplexing method is established, which possesses the highest dimension number compared with 6 dimensions in the previous study. The basic spin unit is prepared by a self‐developed laser‐induced manufacturing process. The free state information of spin is read out by four physical quantities. Based on the multiple dimensions, the information is highly dynamically multiplexed to enhance information storage efficiency. Moreover, the high‐dynamic in situ image encryption/marking is demonstrated. It implies a new paradigm for ultra‐high‐capacity storage and real‐time encryption.

In the growing season of 2021, a severe drought occurred in Central Asia impacting various local ecosystems and socio-economic conditions. However, there is limited research on the spatiotemporal characteristics of this drought and its effects on local vegetation. To address this gap, this study utilizes the standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index (SPEI) to quantitatively evaluate the spatiotemporal drought characteristics, and standardized anomalies to assess drought impacts on vegetation greenness and productivity. The drought-induced reduction in vegetation greenness and production was also decomposed into environmental drivers based on a random forest model. Our findings can be summarized as follows: During the 2021 growing season, Central Asia experienced one of the most severe drought events in the past 40 years, with approximately 42.57 % of the region facing record-breaking drought conditions. Abnormally low precipitation (PRE), prolonged high temperatures (TMP) and evapotranspiration also occurred during the drought event. The drought had a significant detrimental effect on vegetation, leading to an approximately 10 % reduction in vegetation greenness and around 13 % in productivity. Soil moisture (SM) was found to be the most critical factor influencing vegetation greenness loss during drought conditions. Leaf Area Index (LAI) and SM emerged as the primary drivers for the reduction of Gross Primary Productivity (GPP) and Solar-Induced Fluorescence (SIF). The antecedent environmental conditions had a significant impact on the decline in vegetation greenness and productivity during the 2021 drought event, accounting for approximately 30 %–35 % and 52–69 % of the respective losses. The findings of this study highlight the importance of taking into account antecedent climate factors when studying the impacts of drought on vegetation.

The grain size of sediments is a crucial parameter in sedimentology, with significant implications for submarine engineering and water conservancy projects. In this study, we developed an acoustic reflection measurement system using a self-developed, high-precision, high-frequency shallow stratigraphic profiler. The system's accuracy was validated with standard acrylic samples. Results showed that within the sediment grain size range of 0.3 to 2.5 mm, the acoustic reflection amplitude increased with grain size. However, distinguishing grain sizes between 0.1 and 0.3 mm from those between 1.0 and 1.5 mm based solely on reflection amplitude proved challenging. Notably, the differences in wavefront flare shapes between these grain sizes were readily apparent. Therefore, combining reflection peak amplitude with time-domain waveform analysis enables more precise sediment grain size classification.

Abstract Background To investigate the short-term and long-term outcomes of preserving the celiac branch of the vagus nerve during laparoscopic distal gastrectomy. Methods A total of 149 patients with prospective diagnosis of gastric cancer who underwent laparoscopic-assisted distal gastrectomy (LADG) combined with Billroth-II anastomosis and D2 lymph node dissection between 2017 and 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into the preserved LADG group (P-LADG, n = 56) and the resected LADG group (R-LADG, n = 93) according to whether the vagus nerve celiac branch was preserved. We selected 56 patients (P-LADG, n = 56) with preservation of the celiac branch of the vagus nerve and 56 patients (R-LADG, n = 56) with removal of the celiac branch of the vagus nerve by propensity-matched score method. Postoperative nutritional status, weight change, short-term and long-term postoperative complications, and gallstone formation were evaluated in both groups at 5 years of postoperative follow-up. The status of residual gastritis and bile reflux was assessed endoscopically at 12 months postoperatively. Abstract Background Salsola laricifolia is a typical C3–C4 typical desert plant, belonging to the family Amaranthaceae. An efficient single-cell system is crucial to study the gene function of this plant. In this study, we optimized the experimental conditions by using Box-Behnken experimental design and Response Surface Methodology (RSM)-Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model based on the previous studies. Results Among the 17 experiment groups designed by Box-Behnken experimental design, the maximum yield (1.566 × 106/100 mg) and the maximum number of viable cells (1.367 × 106/100 mg) were obtained in group 12, and the maximum viability (90.81%) was obtained in group 5. Based on these results, both the RSM and ANN models were employed for evaluating the impact of experimental factors. By RSM model, cellulase R-10 content was the most influential factor on protoplast yield, followed by macerozyme R-10 content and mannitol concentration. For protoplast viability, the macerozyme R-10 content had the highest influence, followed by cellulase R-10 content and mannitol concentration. The RSM model performed better than the ANN model in predicting yield and viability. However, the ANN model showed significant improvement in predicting the number of viable cells. After comprehensive evaluation of the protoplast yield, the viability and number of viable cells, the optimal results was predicted by ANN yield model and tested. The amount of protoplast yield was 1.550 × 106/100 mg, with viability of 90.65% and the number of viable cells of 1.405 × 106/100 mg. The corresponding conditions were 1.98% cellulase R-10, 1.00% macerozyme R-10, and 0.50 mol L−1 mannitol. Using the obtained protoplasts, the reference genes (18SrRNA, β-actin and EF1-α) were screened for expression, and transformed with PEG-mediated pBI121-SaNADP-ME2-GFP plasmid vector. There was no significant difference in the expression of β-actin and EF1-α before and after treatment, suggesting that they can be used as internal reference genes in protoplast experiments. And SaNADP-ME2 localized in chloroplasts. Conclusion The current study validated and evaluated the effectiveness and results of RSM and ANN in optimizing the conditions for protoplast preparation using S. laricifolia as materials. These two methods can be used independently of experimental materials, making them suitable for isolating protoplasts from other plant materials. The selection of the number of viable cells as an evaluation index for protoplast experiments is based on its ability to consider both protoplast yield and viability. The findings of this study provide an efficient single-cell system for future genetic experiments in S. laricifolia and can serve as a reference method for preparing protoplasts from other materials.

To explore the extraction process, structural characterization and in vitro antioxidant activity of alcohol soluble proteins from ginseng. This study used ginseng as the research object, explored the optimal extraction process of ginseng alcohol soluble protein by one-way test and response surface test, structurally characterized ginseng alcohol soluble protein by ultraviolet absorption spectrometry, infrared spectrophotometric analysis, amino acid composition, and microstructure observation, and carried out a series of studies on its antioxidant activity in vitro under different pH conditions. The in vitro antioxidant activity of ginseng alcohol soluble protein was evaluated by determining the DPPH radical scavenging capacity, ·OH scavenging capacity, and iron ion reduction capacity. The results showed that the optimal extraction process of ginseng alcohol soluble protein was 2 h, extraction material-liquid ratio of 1:10 g/mL, and extraction pH of 7, at which the yield of ginseng alcohol soluble protein was 0.319% and the protein content was 75%. The results of ultraviolet spectrophotometry, infrared spectrophotometry and amino acid composition analysis showed that the total amount of amino acids in ginseng alcohol soluble protein was 82.3 g/100 g, of which the content of essential amino acids was 26.46 g/100 g, and the content of medicinal amino acids was 30.51 g/100 g, which verified that the main component of ginseng alcohol extract was indeed protein, and the molecular weight was about 3.3 kDa. The SEM results showed that the ginseng alcoholic protein was structurally complete, the surface was sparse with irregular ridges and a small number of pores, and the protein particles showed honeycomb aggregation with a stable and orderly reticular structure. The results of in vitro antioxidant test showed that the protein had strong in vitro antioxidant activity under strong acidic conditions. When the pH was 1, the scavenging rate of ginseng alcohol soluble protein for DPPH radical was 96%, the scavenging rate for ·OH was 79%, and the reducing ability for iron ion was 0.86.

There has been increasing application of autologous costal chondral/osteochondral transplantation (ACCT/ACOT) and costa‐derived chondrocyte implantation (ACCI) for articular cartilage repair over the past three decades. This review presents the major evidence on the properties of costal cartilage and bone and their qualifications as grafts for articular cartilage repair, the major clinical applications, and the risks and strategies for costal chondral/osteochondral graft(s) harvest. First, costal cartilage has many specific properties that help restore the articular surface. Costa, which can provide abundant cartilage and cylindrical corticocancellous bone, preserves permanent chondrocyte and is the largest source of hyaline cartilage. Second, in the past three decades, autologous costal cartilage‐derived grafts, including cartilage, osteochondral graft(s), and chondrocyte, have expanded their indications in trauma and orthopaedic therapy from small to large joints, from the upper to lower limbs, and from non‐weight‐bearing to weight‐bearing joints. Third, the rate of donor‐site complications of ACCT or ACOT is low, acceptable, and controllable, and some skills and accumulated experience can help reduce the risks of ACCT and ACOT. Costal cartilage‐derived autografting is a promising technique and could be an ideal option for articular chondral lesions with or without subchondral cysts. More high‐quality clinical studies are urgently needed to help us further understand the clinical value of such technologies.

ABSTRACT: Objectives: Citrobacter freundii is one of the important pathogens that can cause nosocomial infections. The advent of carbapenem-resistant C. freundii complicates clinical treatment. Here, we reported the genome sequence of a carbapenem-resistant C. freundii strain carrying a novel IncC-IncFIB-IncX3 plasmid in China. Methods: The genome sequence of C. freundii CRNMS1 was obtained using the Illumina NovaSeq 6000 platform and the long-read Nanopore sequencer. Multilocus sequence typing was identified using MLST (v.2.23.0). The identification of antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs) and plasmid replicons was performed using the resfinder and plasmidfinder of ABRicate (v.1.0.1). Circular comparisons of plasmids were performed using the BLAST Ring Image Generator (BRIG). Results: CRNMS1 belongs to ST116 in the C. freundii MLST scheme. Thirteen ARGs were predicted in all, including blaNDM-5, which was located in a plasmid. The plasmid pblaNDM5-S1, which carried the blaNDM-5 gene, was discovered to be a novel plasmid including three plasmid replicons (IncC, IncFIB, and IncX3) as well as seven ARGs (sul1, sul2, floR, dfrA17, aadA5, qnrA1, and blaNDM-5). A total of 38 blaNDM-5-bearing C. freundii strains can be retrieved from the NCBI database. Phylogenetic analysis revealed a worldwide distribution of C. freundii strains carrying the blaNDM-5 gene, with China having the highest prevalence (39%, 15/38). However, they were distantly related to CRNMS1 with SNP differences >2545. Conclusion: In summary, we reported a novel IncC-IncFIB-IncX3 plasmid carrying blaNDM-5 in a carbapenem-resistant C. freundii strain in China. The development of such hybrid plasmids facilitates the transmission of ARGs.

Objectives: Since its discovery, blaNDM-5 has spread widely amongst Escherichia coli strains in clinical patients, causing carbapenem resistance. Here we report the complete genome sequence of an NDM-5-producing E. coli strain isolated from the faecal sample of a healthy individual in Hangzhou, China. Methods: The whole-genome sequence of E. coli CREC8 was obtained utilising both the Nanopore sequencer and the Illumina NovaSeq 6000 platform. Antimicrobial resistance genes, multilocus sequence typing, and plasmid replicons were identified using the BacWGSTdb server. The phylogenetic relationship between CREC8 and other E. coli strains was investigated using the core genome multilocus sequence typing (cgMLST) strategy. Results: The complete genome sequence of E. coli CREC8 consists of one chromosome and 7 plasmids. CREC8 belongs to ST167 according to the MLST scheme. Seven ARGs were identified, including carbapenem resistance gene blaNDM-5 which was located in an IncFIA/IncFII type plasmid. A total of 164 E. coli ST167 strains related to 25 countries across four continents can be retrieved from the NCBI database, 95 of them carrying the blaNDM gene with blaNDM-5 the most (N = 79). Phylogenetic analysis revealed a worldwide distribution of E. coli ST167 strains, with China having the highest prevalence (37%, 61/165). Conclusion: In summary, we reported a blaNDM-5-carrying E. coli ST167 strain isolated from a healthy individual in China. Such strains are more commonly isolated from hospitalised patients but are rarely isolated from healthy individuals. This indicates a further epidemic of carbapenem-resistant E. coli strains in the healthy population which needs our attention.

Abstract Coal-series diatomite (CSD) is widely distributed in China and has poor functional and structural properties and exhibits limited utilization of high value-added materials, resulting in a serious waste of resources and tremendous pressure on the environment. Moreover, due to differences in the mineralogical characteristics of CSD, different particle size scales (PSSs) have different functional structures and exhibit different self-similarities. In this study, we took CSD as the research object and PSS as the entry point and carried out a self-similarity study based on gas adsorption and an image processing method to illustrate the microstructures and self-similarities of different PSSs. The results showed that the pore structure of the CSD was dominated by mesopores and macropores and basically lacked micropores. The fractal dimensions were calculated with the Frenkel-Haisey-Hill (FHH) model and Menger model, and the D F1 values for − 0.025 mm and − 2 mm were 2.51 and 2.48, respectively, and the D M1 values were 3.75 and 3.79, respectively, indicating that the mesopore structure of the fine PSS was complex, whereas macropores were present in the coarse PSS. MATLAB was programmed to obtain grayscale thresholds, binarized images, grayscale histograms, three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction images and box dimensions, which enabled us to observe the microstructures and self-similarities of the CSD. Abstract The boom-type roadheader plays a crucial role in coal mining. However, conducting the real-time monitoring of the mechanical performance and comprehensive adaptive cutting in the dynamic cutting process are challenging. To address these issues, a digital twin system that integrates the elements of “shape, performance, and control” for roadheaders is presented in this paper. The system comprises three components: physical space, service space, and twin space. The service space forms the core of the entire system. Within this space, twin models and control models are created using numerical simulation, artificial intelligence and multi-source data fusion technology. These models serve the purpose of predicting the roadheader’s mechanical performance and controlling the swing speed of the cutting arm. The physical space is built using technologies such as robot kinematics, electrical systems, hydraulic transmission, and other relevant techniques. This approach facilitates the transmission of multi-sensor data to twin models. The control model then manages the roadheader’s function based on the output signals from the control model. The twin space is constructed utilizing physical rendering engines, databases, and 3D modelling tools. This space visualizes and stores the movement, performance, and control parameters of the roadheader. The results demonstrate that the average absolute error between the measured data from the test’s three position strain gauges and the predicted data from the twin system is 10.38 MPa. Furthermore, the twin system achieves an average update interval of 0.34 s, allowing real-time stress monitoring of the structural components of the roadheader and preventing damage caused by overload. The proposed control model enables adaptive adjustment of the swing speed of the cutting arm in approximately 0.3 s. This improvement significantly enhances the adaptive cutting capabilities of roadheaders when dealing with complex coal and rock formations.

Abstract Background Neutrophils are traditionally viewed as first responders but have a short onset of action in response to traumatic brain injury (TBI). However, the heterogeneity, multifunctionality, and time-dependent modulation of brain damage and outcome mediated by neutrophils after TBI remain poorly understood. Methods Using the combined single-cell transcriptomics, metabolomics, and proteomics analysis from TBI patients and the TBI mouse model, we investigate a novel neutrophil phenotype and its associated effects on TBI outcome by neurological deficit scoring and behavioral tests. We also characterized the underlying mechanisms both in vitro and in vivo through molecular simulations, signaling detections, gene expression regulation assessments [including dual-luciferase reporter and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assays], primary cultures or co-cultures of neutrophils and oligodendrocytes, intracellular iron, and lipid hydroperoxide concentration measurements, as well as forkhead box protein O1 (FOXO1) conditional knockout mice. Results We identified that high expression of the FOXO1 protein was induced in neutrophils after TBI both in TBI patients and the TBI mouse model. Infiltration of these FOXO1high neutrophils in the brain was detected not only in the acute phase but also in the chronic phase post-TBI, aggravating acute brain inflammatory damage and promoting late TBI-induced depression. In the acute stage, FOXO1 upregulated cytoplasmic Versican (VCAN) to interact with the apoptosis regulator B-cell lymphoma-2 (BCL-2)-associated X protein (BAX), suppressing the mitochondrial translocation of BAX, which mediated the antiapoptotic effect companied with enhancing interleukin-6 (IL-6) production of FOXO1high neutrophils. In the chronic stage, the “FOXO1-transferrin receptor (TFRC)” mechanism contributes to FOXO1high neutrophil ferroptosis, disturbing the iron homeostasis of oligodendrocytes and inducing a reduction in myelin basic protein, which contributes to the progression of late depression after TBI. Conclusions FOXO1high neutrophils represent a novel neutrophil phenotype that emerges in response to acute and chronic TBI, which provides insight into the heterogeneity, reprogramming activity, and versatility of neutrophils in TBI.

Abstract Background Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is indeed a significant cause of mortality and morbidity in individuals with coronary heart disease. Ferroptosis, an iron-dependent cell death, is characterized by the accumulation of intracellular lipid peroxides, which is implicated in cardiomyocyte injury. This study aims to identify biomarkers that are indicative of ferroptosis in the context of AMI, and to examine their potential roles in immune infiltration. Methods Firstly, the GSE59867 dataset was used to identify differentially expressed ferroptosis-related genes (DE-FRGs) in AMI. We then performed gene ontology (GO) and functional enrichment analysis on these DE-FRGs. Secondly, we analyzed the GSE76591 dataset and used bioinformatic methods to build ceRNA networks. Thirdly, we identified hub genes in protein–protein interaction (PPI) network. After obtaining the key DE-FRGs through the junction of hub genes with ceRNA and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO). ImmucellAI was applied to estimate the immune cell infiltration in each sample and examine the relationship between key DE-FRGs and 24 immunocyte subsets. The diagnostic performance of these genes was further evaluated using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. Ultimately, we identified an immune-related ceRNA regulatory axis linked to ferroptosis in AMI. Results Among 56 DE-FRGs identified in AMI, 41 of them were integrated into the construction of competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) networks. TLR4 and PIK3CA were identified as key DE-FRGs and PIK3CA was confirmed as a diagnostic biomarker for AMI. Moreover, CD4_native cells, nTreg cells, Th2 cells, Th17 cells, central-memory cells, effector-memory cells, and CD8_T cells had higher infiltrates in AMI samples compared to control samples. In contrast, exhausted cells, iTreg cells, and Tfh cells had lower infiltrates in AMI samples. Spearman analysis confirmed the correlation between 24 immune cells and PIK3CA/TLR4. Ultimately, we constructed an immune-related regulatory axis involving XIST and OIP5-AS1/miR-216a/PIK3CA. Conclusion Our comprehensive analysis has identified PIK3CA as a robust and promising biomarker for this condition. Moreover, we have also identified an immune-related regulatory axis involving XIST and OIP5-AS1/miR-216a/PIK3CA, which may play a key role in regulating ferroptosis during AMI progression.

Abstract Over the past few years, dual-targeted chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy has been employed in the management of hematological malignancies to mitigate treatment failure, particularly in cases of antigen escape. The most widely used approaches include CD19/CD20, CD20/CD22, and BCMA/CD19 CAR T-cells. Alternative immune cells, including natural killer T cells and invariant natural killer T cells, exhibit innate anti-tumor activity and reduced toxicity. This review summarizes several recent clinical trial reports and preclinical studies from the 2023 American Society of Hematology (ASH) annual meeting on dual-targeted CAR T-cell immunotherapy for hematological malignancies.

Abstract Objective To screen the risk factors affecting the recurrence risk of patients with ampullary carcinoma (AC)after radical resection, and then to construct a model for risk prediction based on Lasso-Cox regression and visualize it. Methods Clinical data were collected from 162 patients that received pancreaticoduodenectomy treatment in Hebei Provincial Cancer Hospital from January 2011 to January 2022. Lasso regression was used in the training group to screen the risk factors for recurrence. The Lasso-Cox regression and Random Survival Forest (RSF) models were compared using Delong test to determine the optimum model based on the risk factors. Finally, the selected model was validated using clinical data from the validation group. Results The patients were split into two groups, with a 7:3 ratio for training and validation. The variables screened by Lasso regression, such as CA19-9/GGT, AJCC 8th edition TNM staging, Lymph node invasion, Differentiation, Tumor size, CA19-9, Gender, GPR, PLR, Drinking history, and Complications, were used in modeling with the Lasso-Cox regression model (C-index = 0.845) and RSF model (C-index = 0.719) in the training group. According to the Delong test we chose the Lasso-Cox regression model (P = 0.019) and validated its performance with time-dependent receiver operating characteristics curves(tdROC), calibration curves, and decision curve analysis (DCA). The areas under the tdROC curves for 1, 3, and 5 years were 0.855, 0.888, and 0.924 in the training group and 0.841, 0.871, and 0.901 in the validation group, respectively. The calibration curves performed well, as well as the DCA showed higher net returns and a broader range of threshold probabilities using the predictive model. A nomogram visualization is used to display the results of the selected model. Conclusion The study established a nomogram based on the Lasso-Cox regression model for predicting recurrence in AC patients. Compared to a nomogram built via other methods, this one is more robust and accurate.

Abstract All-solid-state lithium batteries have attracted widespread attention for next-generation energy storage, potentially providing enhanced safety and cycling stability. The performance of such batteries relies on solid electrolyte materials; hence many structures/phases are being investigated with increasing compositional complexity. Among the various solid electrolytes, lithium halides show promising ionic conductivity and cathode compatibility, however, there are no effective guidelines when moving toward complex compositions that go beyond ab-initio modeling. Here, we show that ionic potential, the ratio of charge number and ion radius, can effectively capture the key interactions within halide materials, making it possible to guide the design of the representative crystal structures. This is demonstrated by the preparation of a family of complex layered halides that combine an enhanced conductivity with a favorable isometric morphology, induced by the high configurational entropy. This work provides insights into the characteristics of complex halide phases and presents a methodology for designing solid materials.

Highlights This review introduces the potential of 2D electronics for post-Moore era and discusses their current progress in digital circuits, analog circuits, heterogeneous integration, sensing circuits, artificial intelligence chips, and quantum chips in sequence. A comprehensive analysis of the current trends and challenges encountered in the development of 2D materials is summarized. An in-depth roadmap outlining the future development of 2D electronics is presented, and the most accessible and promising avenues for 2D electronics are suggested.

This paper presents an experimental investigation into the noise characteristics of various slanted wall configurations. The study focuses on the noise suppression effects of cavities with slanted walls on cavity coupling noise. A total of eight configurations, with different slanting angles on the front and rear walls, were analyzed by varying the inclination of the inner wall. Noise and flow field measurements were conducted in an aeroacoustic wind tunnel, utilizing microphones for near-field and far-field noise data acquisition and hot-wire probes for flow field analysis. The results indicate that larger slant angles lead to more effective noise reduction. As the slant angle increases, the acoustic resonance frequency associated with the slanted inner wall rises, which alters the self-excited oscillation modes involved in coupling with the acoustic resonance. This reduces the impact of coupling on the sound pressure levels. The change in acoustic resonance frequency also modifies the phase delay term of the dominant mode, ultimately leading to a shift in the noise frequency.

Plasma cleaning is extensively employed in superconducting radio-frequency (SRF) accelerators to mitigate field emissions induced by hydrocarbon contaminants. This study explores the plasma physical characteristics and modulation techniques in a commonly utilized 1.3 GHz 9-cell tesla-shaped SRF cavity through the integration of optical emission spectroscopy and a plasma fluid model. Investigations of argon and neon plasma demonstrate that argon generates a higher electron density due to its lower ionization energy, while neon plasma exhibits higher electron temperature and potential that promotes the decomposition of oxygen and the rate of surface chemical reactions. Furthermore, the research reveals that the electron density, temperature, and electric potential of the neon plasma within the cavity exhibit a centrally symmetric distribution, with maximum values of 1×10^{15} m^{−3}, 0.53 eV, and 24.5 V, respectively. Subsequently, the effects of power, gas pressure, and frequency on the physical properties of the plasma are systematically analyzed. Among these, the 640 nm spectral line was selected as a qualitative indicator of glow intensity and plasma state changes within the cavity due to its strongest peak intensity. Findings indicate that increasing power and gas pressure enhance electron density and 640 nm spectral line intensity while reducing electron temperature. Additionally, comparative analysis of plasma properties in cells 1-9 reveals that most cells exhibit higher electron temperature and electron density at frequency II. (Frequency I serves as the transfer mode for plasma transfer, while frequency II acts as the stable mode for plasma stabilization.) Consequently, plasma cleaning of the 1.3 GHz 9-cell cavity using neon gas at this frequency is anticipated to yield superior cleaning outcomes. These findings enhance our understanding and control of plasma behavior within the SRF cavity and provide valuable insights for optimizing plasma cleaning processes.

The ecological environment of the Yellow River Basin in China is characterized by drought, which has been exacerbated by global warming. It is critical to keep accurate track of the region’s agricultural drought conditions. To enhance the vegetation health index (VHI), the optimal time scale for the standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index (SPEI) was determined by using the maximum correlation coefficient method, and the calculation method for VHI was optimized. The contributions of the vegetation condition index (VCI) and the temperature condition index (TCI) to the VHI were scientifically optimized, leading to the development of the optimal VHI (VHIopt). Soil moisture anomaly (SMA) and the SPEI were employed for assessing the performance of VHIopt. Furthermore, the temporal and spatial evolution of agricultural drought in the Yellow River Basin (YRB) was analyzed using VHIopt. The results indicate the following: (1) In the YRB, the optimal contribution of the VCI to the VHI is lower than that of the TCI. (2) The drought monitoring accuracy of VHIopt in forests, grasslands, croplands, and other vegetation types exceeds that of the original VHI (VHIori). Additionally, it demonstrates a high level of consistency with the SMA and the SPEI03 regarding spatial and temporal characteristics. (3) Agricultural drought in the YRB is gradually diminishing; however, significant regional differences remain. Generally, the findings of this study highlight that VHIopt is better suited to the specific climate and vegetation conditions of the Yellow River Basin, enhancing its effectiveness for agricultural drought monitoring in this region.
