Purposely resting athletes during competitive games has become commonplace in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Despite this phenomenon, little research has investigated fan attitudes and behavioral intentions concerning the act of NBA teams purposely resting players. This study utilized Prolific Academic crowdsourcing service to recruit a national sample of NBA fans to participate in this research. Participants provided data concerning their attitudes toward the practice of player resting as well as their strength of team identification and self-construal level. Results indicate that those who are low on both team identification and an interdependent self-construal should be expected to respond negatively to resting. If fans are strong on either team identification, interdependent self-construal, or both, they are less likely to respond negatively to player resting. Cet article porte sur le processus de transition identitaire expérimenté par de nouveaux professeurs occupant des postes menant à la permanence dans quatre universités de l'est du Canada. Lors de cette recherche qualitative, des entretiens individuels semi-dirigés ont permis de recueillir les témoignages de 24 participants. L'article explore principalement les tensions négociées lors du processus transitoire, particulièrement celles associées à la construction de la nouvelle identité de professeur. Finalement, la discussion aborde les questions de continuités, de ruptures et de stratégies de transition identitaire. This article examines the process of identity transition as experienced by new professors in tenure-track positions at four universities in eastern Canada. In this qualitative research, individual, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 24 participants. This article explores the tensions negotiated during the transitional process, particularly those associated with the construction of the new identity as a teacher. This article analyzes the discursive representations of 'the Yucatecan woman' present in the literary newspaper the Museo Yucateco (1841-1842), as part of the foundational fictions of Yucatecan identity that were configured by the Yucatecan elite, when Yucatan was independent of the Mexican nation in the mid-nineteenth century. This construction of regional identity is based on a nationalist discourse appropriated by regionalist ideology. It has a patriarchal, binary structure that imagines political identities in an iconized way (the public and the private) and models the power of the male subject over the female as part of his search for political and symbolic hegemony. It has been argued that in order to study both the positive and negative impact of social media usage holistically, we must focus on identity development. The current study examined social media usage in relation to identity development, identity distress, and peer attachment. We collected data through an online anonymous survey from 849 young adults recruited from a large metropolitan university in the southeastern United States. Although social media usage was related to higher levels of identity distress, lower levels of identity development, and less peer attachment, results varied by sex and reasons for spending time on social media. Using it to avoid face-to-face contact or to create false identities was related to problematic development, whereas using it to post photos was related to positive development. The use of avatars was particularly negative for women, associated with lower identity development and greater identity distress. In addition to using gross measures of social media usage such as time spent, research might benefit from further investigating the 'why' and 'how' social media is used. This might yield important avenues for intervention and prevention programs aimed at positive youth development. Based on an ethnography in the Colombian border state of La Guajira, this article argues that ethnographic research can challenge defaults to methodological nationalism, stark binaries be-tween host and migrant communities, and a framing of Venezuelan migration that flattens the complex realities of individuals in these borderlands who have extensive ties between both Colombia and Venezuela. This article begins by characterizing this border region, describing the relevant history of La Guajira and contemporary dynamics that help situate this specific Venezuelan migration flow. After, I describe the complex identities that form in these borderlands and what exactly 'Venezuelan' looks like in this state. Lastly, building on the characterization of the borderland and Venezuelan identity in La Guajira, I offer two examples of how these pieces come together to facilitate certain social interactions and explain migrant experiences. Basado en una etnograffa en el estado fronterizo colombiano de La Guajira, este artfculo sostiene que la investigacion etnografica puede poner en duda la tendencia al nacionalismo metodologico, la distincion binaria entre las comunidades de acogida y los (im)migrantes, y un marco para la migracion venezolana que pasa por alto las diversas realidades de los individuos en estas zonas fronterizas que tienen extensos vfnculos tanto en Colombia como en Venezuela. Este artfculo comienza por caracterizar la region fronteriza, describiendo la historia relevante de La Guajira y las dinamicas contemporaneas que ayudan a situar este flujo migratorio venezolano en particular. Despues, describo las complejas identidades que se forman en estas zonas fronterizas y que significa ser 'venezolano/a' en este departamento colombiano. Por ultimo, usando la caracterizacion de la zona fronteriza y la identidad venezolana en La Guajira, ofrezco dos ejemplos de como estas dinamicas se combinan para facilitar ciertas interacciones sociales y moldear las experiencias de los migrantes.
