In the era of global climate change, extreme weather events frequently occur. Many kinds of agro-meteorological disasters that are closely related to environmental conditions (such as sunshine hours, temperature, precipitation, etc.) are witnessed all over the word. However, which factor dominates winter wheat production in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River remains unresolved. Quantifying the key limiting meteorological factor could deepen our understanding of the impact of climate change on crops and then help us to formulate disaster prevention and mitigation measures. However, the relative role of precipitation, sunshine hours and maximum daily temperature in limiting winter wheat yield in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River is not clear and difficult to decouple. In this study, we used statistical methods to quantify the effect of precipitation, maximum temperature and sunshine hours extremes on winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) yield based on long time-series, county-level yield data and a daily meteorological dataset. According to the winter wheat growing season period (October of the sowing year to May of the following year), anomaly values of cumulative precipitation, average sunshine hours and average daily maximum temperature are calculated. With the range of −3 σ to 3 σ of anomaly and an interval of 0.5 σ (σ is the corresponding standard deviation of cumulative precipitation, mean maximum temperature and mean sunshine hours, respectively), the corresponding weighted yield loss ratio (WYLR) represents the impact of this kind of climate condition on yield. The results show that excessive rainfall is the key limiting meteorological factor that can reduce winter wheat yield to −18.4% in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, while it is only −0.24% in extreme dry conditions. Moreover, yield loss under extreme temperature and sunshine hours are negligible (−0.66% for extremely long sunshine hours and −8.29% for extreme cold). More detailed analysis results show that the impact of excessive rainfall on winter wheat yield varies regionally, as it causes severe yield reductions in the Huai River basin and the middle to southern part with low elevation and rainy areas of the study area, while for drier areas in the Hubei province, there is even an increase in yield. Our results disclosed with observational evidence that excessive precipitation is the key meteorological limiting factor leading to the reduction in winter wheat yield in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The knowledge of the possible impact of climate change on winter wheat yield in the study area allows policy-makers, agronomists and economists to better forecast a plan that differs from the past. Generating clean and sustainable hydrogen from water splitting processes represent a practical alternative to solve the energy crisis. Ultrathin two-dimensional materials exhibit attractive properties as catalysts for hydrogen production owing to their large surface-to-volume ratios and effective chemisorption sites. However, the catalytically inactive surfaces of the transition metal dichalcogenides (TMD) possess merely small areas of active chemical sites on the edge, thus decreasing their possibilities for practical applications. Here, we propose a new class of out-of-plane deformed TMD (cTMD) monolayer to anchor transition metal atoms for the activation of the inert surface. The calculated adsorption energy of metals (e.g., Pt) on curved MoS2 (cMoS2) can be greatly decreased by 72% via adding external compressions, compared to the basal plane. The enlarged diffusion barrier energy indicates that cMoS2 with an enhanced fixation of metals could be a potential candidate as a single atom catalyst (SAC). We made a well-rounded assessment of the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), which are two key processes in water splitting. The optimized Gibbs free energy of 0.02 for HER and low overpotential of 0.40 V for OER can be achieved when the proper compression and supported metals are selected. The chicken is a model animal for the study of evolution, immunity and development. In addition to their use as a model organism, chickens also represent an important agricultural product. Pathogen invasion has already been shown to modulate the expression of hundreds of genes, but the role of alternative splicing in avian virus infection remains unclear. We used RNA-seq data to analyze virus-induced changes in the alternative splicing of Gallus gallus, and found that a large number of alternative splicing events were induced by virus infection both in vivo and in vitro. Virus-responsive alternative splicing events preferentially occurred in genes involved in metabolism and transport. Many of the alternatively spliced transcripts were also expressed from genes with a function relating to splicing or immune response, suggesting a potential impact of virus infection on pre-mRNA splicing and immune gene regulation. Moreover, exon skipping was the most frequent AS event in chickens during virus infection. This is the first report describing a genome-wide analysis of alternative splicing in chicken and contributes to the genomic resources available for studying host–virus interaction in this species. Our analysis fills an important knowledge gap in understanding the extent of genome-wide alternative splicing dynamics occurring during avian virus infection and provides the impetus for the further exploration of AS in chicken defense signaling and homeostasis. This paper deals with the study of the existence of positive solutions for a class of nonlinear higher-order fractional differential equations in which the nonlinear term contains multi-term lower-order derivatives. By reducing the order of the highest derivative, the higher-order fractional differential equation is transformed into a lower-order fractional differential equation. Then, combining with the properties of left-sided Riemann–Liouville integral operators, we obtain the existence of the positive solutions of fractional differential equations utilizing some weaker conditions. Aiming at corrosion issues of structural materials in supercritical carbon dioxide Brayton systems, the corrosion behaviors of T91 and 316 were studied under S-CO 2 at 500 ℃, 600℃and 20 MPa. The corrosion kinetics conform to the parabolic law. The corrosion products of T91 are mainly composed of outer columnar Fe 3 O 4 and inner Fe-Cr spinel, which had porous structure and no protective effect for further corrosion. Thin and dense Cr 2 O 3 formed on the 316 surface after 500℃corrosion.While large numbers of Fe-oxide nodules formed on surface of Cr-rich scale at 600 ℃. The growing awareness about the global energy crisis and extreme weather from global warming drives the development of smart windows market. Compared to conventional electrochromic, photochromic, or thermochromic smart windows, mechanoresponsive smart windows present advantages of simple construction, low cost, and excellent stability. In this review, we summarize recent developments in mechanoresponsive smart windows with a focus on the structures and properties. We outline the categories and discuss the advantages and disadvantages. Especially, we also summarize six unconventional driving modes to generate mechanical strain, including pneumatic, optical, thermal, electric, magnetic, and humidity modes. Lastly, we provide practical recommendations in prospects for future development. The removal of impurity gases (N2, CO2) in natural gas is critical to the efficient use of natural gas. In this work, the selective adsorption for N2 and CO2 over CH4 on MIL‐100 (M) (M=4Cr, 10Cr, 6Fe, 1In, 1Sc, 3V) is studied by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The calculated adsorption energy of the large‐size cluster model (LC) of MIL‐100 (M) shows that the 4MIL‐100 (4Cr) is the best at the refinement of natural gas due to the lower adsorption energy of CH4 (−2.58 kJ/mol) in comparison with that of N2 (−21.49 kJ/mol) and CO2 (−23.82 kJ/mol). 1MIL‐100 (1Sc) and 1MIL‐100 (6Fe) can also achieve selective adsorption and follows the order 4MIL‐100 (4Cr)>1MIL‐100 (1Sc)>1MIL‐100 (6Fe). In the research of the selective adsorption mechanism of MIL‐100 (M) (M=4Cr, 1Sc, 6Fe), the independent gradient model (IGM) indicates that these outstanding adsorbents interact with CO2 and N2 mainly through the electrostatic attractive interaction, while the van der Walls interaction dominates in the interaction with CH4. The atomic Projected Density of State (PDOS) further confirms that CH4 contributes least to the intermolecular interaction than that of CO2 and N2. Through the scrutiny of molecular orbitals, it is found that electrons transfer from the gas molecule to the metal site in the adsorption of CO2 and N2. Not only does the type of the metallic orbitals, but also the delocalization of the involved orbitals determines the selective adsorption performance of MIL‐100. Both Cr and Sc share their dz2 ${{d}_{{z}^{2}}}$ orbitals with the gases, making 1MIL‐100 (1Sc) another potential effective separator for CH4. Additionally, the comparison of adsorption energy and PDOS shows that the introduction of ligands such as benzene impedes the electron donation from gas molecules (CO2, N2) to the metal site, indicating electron‐withdrawing ligands will further favor the adsorption. Purpose: We aimed to compare the DNA methylation profiles of human embryos cultured in uninterrupted or interrupted incubators. Methods: This study included 9 women, ≤ 30 years old (range: 20–30 years), without a history of genetic diseases or smoking, undergoing ICSI treatment, and each woman donated one oocyte. Embryos were randomly assigned to culture in either time-lapse imaging or standard incubators after ICSI. We compared the DNA methylation profiles of human eight-cell embryos cultured in uninterrupted condition using time-lapse imaging (TLI) incubator (EmbryoScope) to those cultured in interrupted culture model using standard incubators (SI, G185 K-System). Nine single-cell whole-genome bisulfite sequencing (WGBS) datasets were analyzed, including four SI-cultured embryos and five TLI-cultured embryos at the eight-cell stage. Results: A total of 581,140,020 and 732,348,182 clean reads were generated from the TLI and SI groups, respectively. TLI-cultured embryos had similar genome-wide methylation patterns to SI-cultured embryos. There were no significant differences in the methylation and transcription levels of transposable elements and imprinted control regions. Although a total of 198 differentially methylated genes (DMGs) were identified, only five DMGs had significantly different transcription levels between the two groups. Conclusions: This is the first study to compare the DNA methylation profiles of embryos cultured in TLI and SI and will provide a foundation for evaluating the safety of TLI application in assisted reproductive technologies. Every year, a large amount of solid waste such as fly ash and slag is generated worldwide. If these solid wastes are used in concrete mixes to make concrete, it can effectively save resources and protect the environment. The compressive strength of concrete is an essential indicator for testing its quality, and its prediction is affected by many factors. It is difficult to predict its strength accurately. Therefore, based on the current popular machine learning supervised learning algorithms: Random Forest (RF), Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), and Support Vector Machine (SVR), three models established a nonlinear mapping between multi-factor features and target feature concrete compressive strength. Using the three completed training models, we validated the test set with 206 example sets, and the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), fitting coefficient (R2), and Mean Absolute Error (MAE) were used as evaluation metrics. The validation results showed that the values of RMSE, R2, and MAE for the RF model were 0.1, 0.9, and 0.21, respectively; the values of XGBoost model were 0.05, 0.95, and 0.15, respectively. The values of SVR were 0.15, 0.86, and 0.3, respectively. As a result, Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) has better generalization ability and prediction accuracy than the other two algorithms. Evidence on how hot spot policing affects community members' views of police is very limited and inconclusive. Scholars have thus called for further study of community attitudes in hot spots to guide police in the formulation of hot spot strategies—an issue that is especially salient given recent public controversy surrounding policing, particularly in the United States. Using survey responses collected in 2018 from more than 1,000 community members living or working in more than 100 hot spots across 2 mid-sized cities in the United States, this study examines how community members' perceptions of police activities in hot spots relate to their wider attitudes about police. Bivariate and multivariate analyses indicate that community members in hot spots in both cities exhibit more positive attitudes towards police along several dimensions (e.g., trust and confidence in police, views of police legitimacy, and perceptions of police responsiveness and procedural justice) when they see more frequent patrol and when they see positive police-community interactions. They have more negative views of police when they witness higher levels of investigative and enforcement activity. The findings support hot spot policing strategies that emphasize regular, systematic patrol in hot spots, complemented by positive community engagement efforts and problem-solving work. Silybum marianum (L.) Gaertn has been widely used to obtain a drug for the treatment of hepatic diseases. Silibinin (silybin), a flavonoid extracted and isolated from the fruit of S. marianum is investigated in our study to explore its motor protective potential on Parkinson's disease (PD) model mice induced by 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP). PD is a neurodegenerative disease that causes a debilitating movement disorder, characterized by a progressive loss of nigrostriatal (substantia nigra and striatum) dopaminergic neurons. Several studies have proven that neurodegeneration is aggravated by neuroinflammation, oxidative stress and/or the presence of α -synuclein (α -syn) aggregation. Essentially no causal therapy for PD exists at present. Our results demonstrate that silibinin significantly attenuates MPTP-induced movement disorder in behavioral tests. Immunohistochemical analysis shows that MPTP injection results in the loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra, and the decrease of the striatal tyrosine hydroxylase. However, MPTP-injected mice were protected against dopaminergic neuronal loss by oral administration of silibinin (280 mg/kg) that increased expressions of PTEN-induced putative kinase 1 (PINK1) and Parkin, suggesting mitophagy activation. The neuroprotective mechanism of silibinin involves not only reduction of mitochondrial damage by repressing proinflammatory response and α -syn aggregation, but also enhancement of oxidative defense system. Namely, protection of dopaminergic nerves is due to promotion of mitophagy, leading to clearance of the toxic effects of damaged mitochondria. Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction(HQGZWWD) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine formula from Synopsis of Golden Chamber used to treat blood arthralgia. According to the principle that the same treatment can be used for different diseases, HQGZWWD has proven effective for IgA nephropathy (IgAN) associated with spleen and kidney yang deficiency. In this study, we investigated the mechanism by which HQGZWWD alleviates proteinuria and protects renal function in rats with IgAN by regulating the AT1R/Nephrin/c-Abl pathway. Rats were randomly divided into six groups: control, IgAN model, IgAN model treated with low-dose HQGZWWD, IgAN model treated with medium-dose HQGZWWD, IgAN model treated with high-dose HQGZWWD, and IgAN model treated with valsartan. IgAN was induced using bovine γ-globulin. We evaluated the mediating effects of HQGZWWD on podocyte cytoskeletal proteins, the AT1R/Nephrin/c-Abl pathway, upstream tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and TNF-α receptor-1 (TNFR1). The IgAN rats displayed proteinuria, IgA deposition in the mesangial region, and podocyte cytoskeletal protein damage. The expression of TNF-α, TNFR1, AT1R, and c-Abl was increased in the IgAN rat kidney, whereas the expression of nephrin, podocin, ACTN4, and phosphorylated nephrin (p-nephrin) was reduced. HQGZWWD treatment significantly alleviated podocyte cytoskeletal protein damage in the IgAN rats, upregulated the expression of nephrin, podocin, and ACTN4, and the colocalized expression of F-actin and nephrin. This study demonstrates that HQGZWWD attenuates podocyte cytoskeletal protein damage by regulating the AT1R–nephrin– c-Abl pathway, upregulating the expression of p-nephrin, and downregulating the expression of AT1R and c-Abl. These results indicate that HQGZWWD attenuates podocyte cytoskeletal protein damage in IgAN rats by regulating the AT1R/Nephrin/c-Abl pathway, providing a potential therapeutic approach for IgAN. With the rapid development of blockchain technology, the cross-blockchain asset transfer has been in great demand. However, most existing cross-blockchain solutions encounter low efficiency problems due to the centralized features, unfriendly development environment, and difficulty in cooperation. This paper proposes an interaction protocol for secure and efficient cross-blockchain transfer process, wherein the cross-blockchain asset transfer is modeled as an auction process. We design our protocol by leveraging the atomic swap technology and Vickrey auction scheme to achieve efficient cross-blockchain asset transfer, without sacrificing the decentralized control. To achieve the transfer efficiency, we optimize the Vickrey auction scheme to share data within the auction and delivery process synchronously. This results in a efficient user information exchange. The experimental results show that not only can our protocol achieve compatibility, but it also incurs little communication overhead in high throughput. A cross-blockchain transfer process can be accomplished in average 4 rounds of interaction. The difference between the transaction completion time and the bid waiting time is less than 1 second. Besides, our protocol guarantees the exchange rate at a reasonable range. The ratio of the cross-blockchain exchange rate to the real exchange rate converges to 0.9 for approximately 200 participants. As an important part of China's strategic emerging industries, developing wind energy is key to improving the nation's energy structure, protecting the environment, ensuring energy security, and achieving sustainable economic development. This study uses complex network theory and social network analysis to investigate the collaboration network of China's wind energy industry based on the collaborative application data of patents from the China National Intellectual Property Administration. The results demonstrate that the State Grid Corporation of China plays an important role in the collaboration network. With the wind energy industry's development, the network's dominant force has changed from individuals to enterprises, and its collaboration frequency now differs across various technology fields and organizations. Furthermore, the maximal connected subnetwork was found to be important for knowledge dissemination. These results demonstrate a large difference in the network's spatial distribution. Facial skin temperature has been applied to evaluate thermal comfort in a few studies, but the related theoretical basis is not sufficient. We conducted a climate‐controlled experiment in winter. The air temperatures were 12, 15, 18, 21, and 24°C, and the relative humidity was set to 60%. During exposure (140 min), the subjects were in a sedentary state, and their thermal sensation, comfort, and acceptability of perceived thermal environments were documented many times. iButton instruments were used to continuously and automatically record skin temperatures on the forehead, nose, right ear, right cheek, left cheek, left ear, and chin. The measurement accuracy of the corrected skin temperature was within 0.1°C after calibrating each i‐Button. The experimental results showed that the skin temperatures at different measurement points varied significantly. The forehead skin temperature was the highest, whereas the nose, being the facial part, exhibited the lowest skin temperature (except 24°C). The uneven degree of the skin temperature distribution increased as air temperature decreased. Correlation analysis confirmed that the facial skin temperature can be used to evaluate thermal sensation. Nose skin temperature and the average skin temperature of the forehead, nose, and chin are the most suitable indicators of thermal sensation. The correlation between facial skin temperature and the thermal sensation was significantly higher after 15 min of exposure time than that during 0–15 min. Type V collagen (collagen V) is one of the important components of extracellular matrix (ECM) in pancreas. We previously reported that pre-coating collagen V on the culture dishes enhanced insulin production in INS-1 rat pancreatic β cells. In this study, we investigate the underlying mechanism. Insulin biosynthesis and secretion are both increased in INS-1 cells cultured on collagen V-coated dishes, accompanied by the reduced nuclear translocation of Yes-associated protein (YAP), a transcriptional co-activator. YAP, the downstream effector of Hippo signaling pathway, plays an important role in the development and function of pancreas. Inhibition of YAP activation by verteporfin further up-regulates insulin biosynthesis and secretion. Silencing large tumor suppressor (LATS), a core component of Hippo pathway which inhibits activity of YAP by phosphorylation, by siRNA transfection inhibits both insulin biosynthesis and secretion. In the present study, the protein level of insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF-1 R), detected as the upstream molecule of YAP, is reduced in the INS-1 cells cultured on the dishes coated with collagen V. The silencing of IGF-1 R by siRNA transfection further enhances insulin biosynthesis and secretion. IGF-1 treatment reduces collagen V–induced up-regulation of insulin biosynthesis and secretion, accompanying the increased nuclear YAP. Laser thermography is a cutting-edge non-destructive testing method with remarkable advantages such as contactless operation, swift detection, and exceptional sensitivity. In this study, an innovative thermal signal sampling method is introduced for the detection of microcracks on uncoated aluminum alloy surface through joint scanning laser thermography. Initially, numerical simulation was conducted to analyze the thermal response characteristics of the uncoated surface during inspection. Subsequently, the dynamic minimum value features of the surface temperature distribution were extracted within a large region of interest, and the optimal sampling region was determined by evaluating the signal-to-noise ratio. The temperature curves of the sampling results showed a clear peak-valley bipolar feature at the microcrack locations. The correlation coefficient of one-dimensional continuous wavelet transform was employed to extract the singularity of crack features, and the singularity points were clearly defined to locate the microcracks spatial location. The experimental results showed that our proposed detection method could quickly and automatically locate and characterize microcracks on the surface of uncoated aluminum alloy with good stability and robustness. Photothermal therapy (PTT) is a promising cancer treatment method due to its ability to induce tumor-specific T cell responses and enhance therapeutic outcomes. However, incomplete PTT can leave residual tumors that often lead to new metastases and decreased patient survival in clinical scenarios. This is primarily due to the release of ATP, a damage-associated molecular pattern that quickly transforms into the immunosuppressive metabolite adenosine by CD39, prevalent in the tumor microenvironment, thus promoting tumor immune evasion. This study presents a photothermal nanomedicine fabricated by electrostatic adsorption among the Fe-doped polydiaminopyridine (Fe-PDAP), indocyanine green (ICG), and CD39 inhibitor sodium polyoxotungstate (POM-1). The constructed Fe-PDAP@ICG@POM-1 (FIP) can induce tumor PTT and immunogenic cell death when exposed to a near-infrared laser. Significantly, it can inhibit the ATP-adenosine pathway by dual-directional immunometabolic regulation, resulting in increased ATP levels and decreased adenosine synthesis, which ultimately reverses the immunosuppressive microenvironment and increases the susceptibility of immune checkpoint blockade (aPD-1) therapy. With the aid of aPD-1, the dual-directional immunometabolic regulation strategy mediated by FIP can effectively suppress/eradicate primary and distant tumors and evoke long-term solid immunological memory. Li‐O2 batteries, known for their impressive theoretical specific energy, face significant practical challenges, including slow kinetics, voltage hysteresis, and reduced cycle life. In this study, a novel approach is introduced utilizing a bimetallic metal‐organic framework known as Fe‐UiO‐66 as a multifunctional photocatalyst to enhance the oxygen‐related reactions in photo‐assisted Li‐O2 batteries. In contrast to UiO‐66, Fe‐UiO‐66 exhibits an extended response to visible light, as confirmed through UV–vis and photoluminescence spectra. Electron paramagnetic resonance analysis provides further validation of the pivotal role played by O2− radicals in the electrochemical processes. Additionally, computations are employed to elucidate the distinct function of Fe centers and the underlying reaction mechanisms. Li‐O2 batteries with Fe‐UiO‐66 cathodes have a reduced charge/discharge voltage difference of 0.14 V under illumination and operate stably for 500 cycles. In silicon photonics, BaTiO3 (BTO) emerges as a promising electro‐optic (EO) integrated material due to its excellent EO modulation capabilities. Nevertheless, the EO response of multi‐domain BTO thin films tends to be lower than that of bulk materials. BTO thin films are fabricated with strong EO responses utilizing the pulsed laser deposition technique. Considering the importance of the SrTiO3 (STO) buffer layer, a series of epitaxial BTO thin films are deposited on STO substrates with engineered domain alignment. Given the contribution of domain variants in BTO thin films to their EO response, specific electrode patterns are designed to enhance their performance. An effective Pockels coefficient of 286 pm V−1 is determined for the BTO thin film via the transmission geometry method, which surpasses recent reports. Through domain engineering in the BTO thin film, the remarkable enhancement in the EO response arising from in‐plane polarization (a‐axis) characteristics is confirmed. Simultaneously, utilizing the Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) optical probe, deep exploration into the domain dynamics within BTO thin films is conducted. These findings provide insights into the contribution of domain variants to the EO response and shed light on further developing silicon‐based heterogeneously integrated devices. Objective: The objective of this scoping review was to investigate the effectiveness and limitations of risk prediction models for postpartum glucose intolerance in women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). The aim was to provide valuable insights for healthcare professionals in the development of robust risk prediction models. Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted across multiple databases, including PubMed, EBSCO, Web of Science Core Collection, Ovid Full-Text Medical Journal Database, ProQuest, Elsevier ClinicalKey, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, China Biology Medicine, and WanFang Database, spanning from January 1990 to July 2023. To assess the quality of the included models, the Predictive Model Risk of Bias Assessment Tool (PROBAST) was employed. Results: Fourteen relevant studies were identified and included in the final review, all focusing on model development. The discrimination ability of the included models ranged from 0.725 to 0.940, indicating satisfactory prediction accuracy. However, a notable limitation was that nine of these models (64.3%) did not provide clear guidelines on the selection of potential predictors. Furthermore, only six models (42.86%) underwent internal validation, with none undergoing external validation. A high risk of bias was observed across the included models. Logistic regression, Cox regression, and machine learning were the primary methods employed in the construction of these models. Conclusion: The risk prediction models included in this review demonstrated favorable prediction accuracy. However, due to variations in construction methodologies, direct comparison of their performance is challenging. These models exhibited certain shortcomings, such as inadequate handling of missing data and a lack of internal and external validation, resulting in a high risk of bias. Therefore, it is recommended that these models be updated and externally validated. The development of prospective, multi-center studies is encouraged to construct predictive models with low risk of bias and high clinical applicability, ultimately guiding evidence-based clinical practice. STUDY QUESTION Could actin-related protein T1 (ACTRT1) deficiency be a potential pathogenic factor of human male infertility? SUMMARY ANSWER A 110-kb microdeletion of the X chromosome, only including the ACTRT1 gene, was identified as responsible for infertility in two Chinese males with sperm showing acrosomal ultrastructural defects and fertilization failure. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY The actin-related proteins (e.g. ACTRT1, ACTRT2, ACTL7A, and ACTL9) interact with each other to form a multimeric complex in the subacrosomal region of spermatids, which is crucial for the acrosome-nucleus junction. Actrt1 -knockout (KO) mice are severely subfertile owing to malformed sperm heads with detached acrosomes and partial fertilization failure. There are currently no reports on the association between ACTRT1 deletion and male infertility in humans. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION We recruited a cohort of 120 infertile males with sperm head deformations at a large tertiary hospital from August 2019 to August 2023. Genomic DNA extracted from the affected individuals underwent whole exome sequencing (WES), and in silico analyses were performed to identify genetic variants. Morphological analysis, functional assays, and ART were performed in 2022 and 2023. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS The ACTRT1 deficiency was identified by WES and confirmed by whole genome sequencing, PCR, and quantitative PCR. Genomic DNA of all family members was collected to define the hereditary mode. Papanicolaou staining and electronic microscopy were performed to reveal sperm morphological changes. Western blotting and immunostaining were performed to explore the pathological mechanism of ACTRT1 deficiency. ICSI combined with artificial oocyte activation (AOA) was applied for one proband. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE We identified a whole-gene deletion variant of ACTRT1 in two infertile males, which was inherited from their mothers, respectively. The probands exhibited sperm head deformations owing to acrosomal detachment, which is consistent with our previous observations on Actrt1 -KO mice. Decreased expression and ectopic distribution of ACTL7A and phospholipase C zeta were observed in sperm samples from the probands. ICSI combined with AOA effectively solved the fertilization problem in Actrt1 -KO mice and in one of the two probands. LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION Additional cases are needed to further confirm the genetic contribution of ACTRT1 variants to male infertility. In this work, the compatibility and long-term integrity of candidate structural materials, including the austenitic stainless steel 316NG, the Fe-Ni-based alloy 800H, and the Ni-based alloy 625, were tested in high-temperature and high-pressure SCO2. The exposure time was up to 3000 h. The results showed that the corrosion kinetics approximately followed a near-cubic law for 316NG and 800H. After 3000 h exposure, all oxide layers, mainly composed of Cr2O3, were continuous, compact, and protective, and their thicknesses were about 21~45 nm, 64~88 nm, and 34~43 nm, respectively. In the case of carburization, dark spots corresponding carbon deposition were observed on the surface and a little enriched in the underside of the oxide for 800H. Moreover, the enrichment of trace elements was found at the oxide/substrate interface through GDOES and TEM analyses, i.e., the enrichment of Mn and Si for 316NG, the enrichment of Mn, Si, Al, and Ti for 800H, and the enrichment of Ti and Al for alloy 625. Background: Air pollution may induce or reinforce nasal inflammation regardless of allergy status. There is limited direct clinical evidence informing the treatment of airborne pollution-related rhinitis. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of intranasal budesonide in adults with self-reported rhinitis symptoms triggered/worsened by airborne pollution. Methods: Adults in northern China with self-reported rhinitis symptoms triggered or worsened by airborne pollution were randomized to budesonide 256 µg/day or placebo for 10 days in pollution season (October 2019 to February 2020). The primary endpoint was the mean change from baseline in 24-h reflective total nasal symptom score (rTNSS) averaged over 10 days. The secondary endpoints were subject-assessed Global Impression of Change (SGIC), mean change from baseline in individual nasal symptom severity, and mean change from baseline in individual non-nasal symptoms of cough and postnasal drip severity. One-sided P < 0.0125 was considered statistically significant. Results: After an interruption by COVID-19, an interim analysis showed that the study could be ended for efficacy with n = 206 participants (103/group) since the primary efficacy endpoint demonstrated significant results. The final efficacy results showed that the 10-day-averaged rTNSS change in the budesonide group was greater than with placebo (− 2.20 vs − 1.72, P = 0.0107). Budesonide also significantly improved 10-day-averaged itching/sneezing change (− 0.75 vs − 0.51, P = 0.0009). Results for SGIC and all other individual symptoms did not show significant differences between the two groups. Conclusions: Intranasal budesonide 256 µg once daily improved the total nasal symptoms and itching/sneezing over 10 days in adults with rhinitis triggered/worsened by airborne pollution. The ability to simultaneously detect multiple volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is crucial for assessing indoor air quality and addressing significant health hazards. In this study, we present a sacrificial template approach for on-chip fabrication of two-dimensional (2D) Ni-doped SnO 2 nanoporous sensing films on micro-heater substrates. The technical analysis shows that the resulting honeycomb-like ultrathin Ni-SnO 2 sensing layer on a suspended substrate maintains perfect structural integrity and consistency. The Ni-SnO 2 sensors exhibit exceptional characteristics, including a ppb-level detection limit, high sensitivity, fast response/recovery time, and signal repeatability for typical VOCs, while operating at a low power consumption of 25 mW. Additionally, the Ni-doping enhances the sensors' cross-sensitivity to various forms of VOCs, while causing a discernible response inhibition towards flammable or exhaust gases. Furthermore, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and in-situ Raman spectra reveal a Ni2+-substitution induced surface adsorbed oxygen species enrichment mechanism for sensing enhancement. Thus, the developed Ni-SnO 2 sensors hold promise as future candidates for reliable air quality assessment by real-time monitoring of overall concentrations of multiple VOCs. The relation between electroencephalogram signals, thermal comfort, and cognitive performance in neutral to hot indoor environment was investigated. The experiments were carried out at four temperatures: 26ºC, 30ºC, 33ºC, and 37ºC, and two relative humidity levels: 50% and 70%. Thirty‐two subjects were exposed for 175 min. The electroencephalogram signals were measured for 30 min 25 min after the onset of exposure while the recruited subjects performed neurobehavioral tests and rated their thermal comfort. The relative power of electroencephalogram signals has a significant correlation with thermal comfort and performance of neurobehavioral tests. The ratings of acceptability of thermal environment and thermal comfort, the speed, accuracy, and PI of completing the tests are negatively correlated with the relative power of δ‐band, but positively correlated with θ‐band, α‐band, and β‐band. The ratings of thermal sensation have a better correlation with the above four bands, but the correlation trend is opposite. A linear relation was found between electroencephalogram signals and the speed. The results showed that the relative power of P7 channel located in the occipital lobe is the most suitable as a single electroencephalogram channel to reflect joint thermal comfort and cognitive performance at high temperatures, especially its α‐band. Considering the characteristics of the surrounding rock temperature and water replenishing direction of tunnels in cold areas, to study the frost heave deformation law of surrounding rock under a certain stress environment, a nonuniform frost heave test device using a flexible air bag to apply a stable confining pressure was developed. The device includes a loading system, a boundary temperature control system, a water replenishing system, and a testing system. Frost heave tests under both load and no-load conditions were carried out. The results show that: (1) the temperature in the specimens was distributed linearly along the specimen height; (2) the deformation of the specimens along the two directions of the temperature gradient and vertical temperature gradient was divided into three stages, namely, initial deformation, frost heave growth, and deformation stability, but the deformation values differ greatly, showing obvious nonuniform frost heave characteristics; and (3) the stress boundary condition had a significant effect on the frost heaving deformation. With increasing deviatoric stress, the frost heaving in the direction of the vertical temperature gradient increases until it exceeds the frost heaving in the direction of the temperature gradient. Finally, according to the superposition of the load strain and frost heave strain, an equation of the nonuniform frost heave coefficient considering temperature and deviant stress was established, which can provide an experimental basis for accurately establishing the constitutive relations of surrounding rocks and determining the frost heave forces of tunnels in cold regions. Extracellular matrix (ECM) plays an important role in tissue repair, cell proliferation, and differentiation. Our previous study showed that collagen I and collagen V differently regulate the proliferation of rat pancreatic β cells (INS-1 cells) through opposite influences on the nuclear translocation of β-catenin. In this study, we investigated the β-catenin pathway in INS-1 cells on dishes coated with collagen I or V. We found that nuclear translocation of the transcription factor Yes-associated protein (YAP) was enhanced by collagen I and suppressed by collagen V, but had no effect on INS-1 cell proliferation. Morphologically, INS-1 cells on collagen V-coated dishes showed stronger cell-to-cell adhesion, while the cells on collagen I-coated dishes showed weaker cell-to-cell adhesion in comparison with the cells on non-coated dishes. E-cadherin played an inhibitory role in the proliferation of INS-1 cells cultured on collagen I or collagen V coated dishes via regulation of the nuclear translocation of β-catenin. Integrin β1 was enhanced with collagen I, while it was repressed with collagen V. The integrin β1 pathway positively regulated the cell proliferation. Inhibition of integrin β1 pathway restored the protein level of E-cadherin and inhibited the nuclear translocation of β-catenin in the cells on collagen I-coated dishes, but no effect was observed in the cells on collagen V-coated dishes. In conclusion, collagen I enhances the proliferation of INS-1 cells via the integrin β1 and E-cadherin/β-catenin signaling pathway. Background: Immunotherapy based on the application of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) is one of the standard treatments for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Non-alcoholic fatty liver Disease (NAFLD) has demonstrated predictive value for response to immunotherapy in non-lung cancer types. Our study investigated the effect of NAFLD on the efficacy of real-life use of ICIs for patients with stage III / IV NSCLC. Methods: The clinical and imaging data of patients with stage III / IV NSCLC who were first admitted to Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology from March 2020 to July 2022 were retrospectively collected to ensure that they underwent at least one CT scan before treatment. A total of 479 patients were divided into the NAFLD group (Liver/Spleen density ratio ≤ 1) and the non-NAFLD group (Liver/Spleen density ratio > 1) by measuring the baseline liver and spleen CT value. The overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), objective response rate (ORR) and disease control rate (DCR) of the patients were obtained. Results: A total of 118 patients with NAFLD and 361 patients without NAFLD were included in the study. Patients with NAFLD tended to have higher BMI and higher total bilirubin compared to patients without NAFLD. The median duration of follow-up in the study was 22 m (IQR, 17–29 m). Both of 2 groups had a higher DCR (94% vs. 92%, p = 0.199) and ORR (38.1% vs. 44.9%, p = 0.452) respectively. There was no difference in efficacy between the two groups. In univariate analysis, NAFLD had no significant effect on PFS (p = 0.785) and OS (p = 0.851). Surprisingly, the presence of hypertension was observed to be associated with a higher OS (HR 1.471 95%CI 1.018–2.127, p = 0.040). Besides, based on multivariate analysis, lactic dehydrogenase was associated with PFS (HR 1.001 95%CI 1.000,1.002, p = 0.037) and OS (HR 1.002, 95%CI 1.001–1.003, p < 0.001). Background: Although papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) has a favorable prognosis, it could affect patient life quality and become a serious threat because of invasion and metastasis. Many investigations have suggested that circular RNAs (circRNAs) are involved in different cancer regulations. Nevertheless, circRNAs role in invasive PTC remains unclear. Methods: In the present investigation, next-generation sequencing was applied to explore abnormal circRNA expression. The expression of circRNA phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase (circPHGDH) in PTC cell lines and tissues were examined. Then, we investigated regulatory mechanism and circPHGDH downstream targets using bioinformatics analysis and luciferase reporting analysis. Then transwell migration, Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK8) and 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU) assays were used for cells migration and proliferation analysis. In vivo metastasis and tumorigenesis assays were also employed to evaluate the circPHGDH role in PTC. Results: The data showcased that circPHGDH expression increased in both PTC cell lines and tissues, which suggested that circPHGDH functions in PTC progression. circPHGDH downregulation suppressed PTC invasion and proliferation in both in vivo and in vitro experiments. Bioinformatics and luciferase reporter results confirmed that both microRNA (miR)-122-5p and pyruvate kinase M2 subtype (PKM2) were downstream targets of circPHGDH. PKM2 overexpression or miR-122-5p suppression reversed PTC cell invasion and proliferation post silencing circPHGDH by restoring aerobic glycolysis. In order to evaluate the damage deterioration degree of freeze–thaw rock under in-situ stress in cold area engineering, it is necessary to establish the triaxial compression damage constitutive model and study on meso-failure characteristics of freeze–thaw rock. The triaxial compression tests under confining pressure of 3 MPa, 5 MPa, and 10 MPa were carried out on saturated sandstone after 0, 20, 40, and 60 freeze–thaw cycles. The results show that with the increase of freezing–thawing times, the peak deviatoric stress and elastic modulus under the same confining pressure decrease gradually, and increase gradually with the increase of confining pressure. The triaxial compression damage constitutive model of freeze–thaw rock was established based on the dissipation energy ratio and the principle of minimum energy dissipation. Based on this model, the evolution law of energy ratio in different stages of compression process was studied, and the influence characteristics of confining pressure and freeze–thaw on rock failure were analyzed. PFC2D was used to establish the numerical method on triaxial compression of frozen-thawed rock and determine the calculation parameters. The energy evolution law and the number growth law of different cracks in the triaxial compression process of frozen-thawed rock were studied. It is found that the energy value at the peak and the ratio of tensile crack to shear crack decrease with the number of freezing–thawing cycles. Background: Breast cancer ranks first among malignant tumors, of which triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is characterized by its highly invasive behavior and the worst prognosis. Timely diagnosis and precise treatment of TNBC are substantially challenging. Abnormal tumor vessels play a crucial role in TNBC progression and treatment. Nitric oxide (NO) regulates angiogenesis and maintains vascular homeostasis, while effective NO delivery can normalize the tumor vasculature. Accordingly, we have proposed here a tumor vascular microenvironment remodeling strategy based on NO-induced vessel normalization and extracellular matrix collagen degradation with multimodality imaging-guided nanoparticles against TNBC called DNMF/PLGA. Results: Nanoparticles were synthesized using a chemotherapeutic agent doxorubicin (DOX), a NO donor L-arginine (L-Arg), ultrasmall spinel ferrites (MnFe2O4), and a poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) shell. Nanoparticle distribution in the tumor was accurately monitored in real-time through highly enhanced magnetic resonance imaging and photoacoustic imaging. Near-infrared irradiation of tumor cells revealed that MnFe2O4 catalyzes the production of a large amount of reactive oxygen species (ROS) from H2O2, resulting in a cascade catalysis of L-Arg to trigger NO production in the presence of ROS. In addition, DOX activates niacinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase to generate and supply H2O2. The generated NO improves the vascular endothelial cell integrity and pericellular contractility to promote vessel normalization and induces the activation of endogenous matrix metalloproteinases (mainly MMP-1 and MMP-2) so as to promote extravascular collagen degradation, thereby providing an auxiliary mechanism for efficient nanoparticle delivery and DOX penetration. Moreover, the chemotherapeutic effect of DOX and the photothermal effect of MnFe2O4 served as a chemo-hyperthermia synergistic therapy against TNBC. Conclusion: The two therapeutic mechanisms, along with an auxiliary mechanism, were perfectly combined to enhance the therapeutic effects. Mode selecting plays a vital role in the field of optoelectronics, such as optical communication, signal processing, on-chip light manipulation, mode conversion, and frequency synthesis. In this work, flexible selection and enhancement of the frequency modes in an unidirectional coupled Su–Schrieffer–Heeger (SSH) frequency lattice are obtained with Floquet exceptional points (EPs) and chiral Zener tunneling (ZT). The unidirectional coupled non-Hermitian SSH frequency lattices are synthesized by a double-ring system with complex dynamical modulations. Under an effective direct current (dc) force induced by the phase-mismatching of the modulations, the two Floquet bands of the non-Hermitian frequency lattices are degenerated and the Floquet EPs arise. Therefore, the unidirectional and irreversible frequency mode conversion takes place, which is the chiral ZT. Moreover, through perturbation analysis and numerical simulations, we prove that the frequency modes of the two-band system can be selected and enhanced by a multi-photon resonance dc force. Besides comprising scaffolding, extracellular matrix components modulate many biological processes including inflammation and cell differentiation. We previously found precoating cell plates with extracellular matrix collagen I, or its denatured product gelatin, causes aggregation of macrophage-like human lymphoma U937 cells, which are induced to differentiation by phorbol myristate treatment. In the present study, we investigated the influence of gelatin or collagen I precoating on the bacteria phagocytosis in PMA-stimulated U937 cells. Colony forming units of phagocytosed bacteria, Giemsa-staining of cells with phagocytosed bacteria, confocal microscopic and flow cytometric analysis of cells with phagocytosed FITC-labeled bacteria and non-bioactive latex beats were conducted. Gelatin precoating enhances the phagocytosis of both Gram-negative and positive bacteria, as shown by the increased colony forming units of bacteria phagocytosed by cells, and increased intracellular bacteria observed after Giemsa-staining. But collagen I has no marked influence. Confocal microscopy reveals that both live and dead FITC-bacteria were phagocytosed more in the cells with gelatin-coating but not collagen-coating. Of note, both gelatin and collagen I coating had no influence on the phagocytosis of non-bioactive latex beads. Since gelatin-coating increases autophagy but collagen I has no such impact, we are curious about the role of autophagy. Background: Fatty liver hemorrhage syndrome (FLHS) becomes one of the most major factors resulting in the laying hen death for caged egg production. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum (Lp. plantarum) FRT4 on FLHS model in laying hen with a focus on liver lipid metabolism, and gut microbiota. Results: The FLHS model of laying hens was established by feeding a high-energy low-protein (HELP) diet, and the treatment groups were fed a HELP diet supplemented with differential proportions of Lp. plantarum FRT4. The results indicated that Lp. plantarum FRT4 increased laying rate, and reduced the liver lipid accumulation by regulating lipid metabolism (lipid synthesis and transport) and improving the gut microbiota composition. Moreover, Lp. plantarum FRT4 regulated the liver glycerophospholipid metabolism. Meanwhile, "gut-liver" axis analysis showed that there was a correlation between gut microbiota and lipid metabolites. Conclusions: The results indicated that Lp. plantarum FRT4 improved the laying performance and alleviated FLHS in HELP diet-induced laying hens through regulating "gut-liver" axis. Our findings reveal that glycerophospholipid metabolism could be the underlying mechanism for the anti-FLHS effect of Lp. plantarum FRT4 and for future use of Lp. plantarum FRT4 as an excellent additive for the prevention and mitigation of FLHS in laying hens. Patients with relapsed or refractory (R/R) acute myeloid leukemia (AML) often exhibit limited responses to traditional chemotherapy, resulting in poor prognosis. The combination of venetoclax (VEN) with hypomethylating agents has been established as the standard treatment for elderly or medically unfit AML patients unable to undergo intensive chemotherapy. Background: Multiple morphological abnormalities of sperm flagella is an idiopathic asthenoteratozoospermia characterized by absent, short, coiled, angulation, and irregular‐caliber flagella. Genetic variants of DNAH1 gene have been identified as a causative factor of multiple morphological abnormalities of sperm flagella and intracytoplasmic sperm injection is an available strategy for infertile males with dynein axonemal heavy chain 1 defects to conceive. Objectives: To identify novel variants and candidate mutant hotspots of DNAH1 gene related to multiple morphological abnormalities of sperm flagella and male infertility in humans. Materials and methods: The DNAH1 variants were identified by whole exome sequencing and confirmed with Sanger sequencing. Papanicolaou staining, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, and immunostaining were performed to investigate the morphological and ultrastructural characteristics of spermatozoa. Intracytoplasmic sperm injection was applied for the assisted reproductive therapy of males harboring biallelic DNAH1 variants. Results: We identified 18 different DNAH1 variants in 11 unrelated families, including nine missense variants (p.A2564T, p.T3657R, p.G1862R, p.L2296P, p.T4041I, p.L611P, p.A913D, p.R1932Q, p.R2356W) and nine loss‐of‐function variants (c.2301‐1G>T, p.Q1518*, p.R1702*, p.D2845Mfs*2, p.P3909Rfs*33, p.Q4040Dfs*33, p.Q4058*, p.E4060Pfs*61, p.V4071Cfs*54). A total of 66.7% (12/18) of the identified variants were novel. Morphological analysis based on Papanicolaou staining and scanning electron microscopy demonstrated the typical multiple morphological abnormalities of sperm flagella characteristics of dynein axonemal heavy chain 1‐deficient spermatozoa. Immunostaining further revealed the absence of inner dynein arms but not outer dynein arms, which induced a general ultrastructural disorganization, such as the loss of central pair and mis‐localization of the microtubule doublets and outer dense fibers. To date, seven affected couples have accepted the intracytoplasmic sperm injection treatment, and three of them have given birth to five healthy babies. Discussion and conclusion: These findings further expand the variant spectrum of DNAH1 gene related to multiple morphological abnormalities of sperm flagella and male infertility in humans, thus providing new information for the molecular diagnosis of asthenoteratozoospermia. The objective of this prospective cohort study was to investigate whether cryopreservation of cleavage or blastocyst stage embryos improves in vitro fertilization outcomes in recurrent implantation failure (RIF) patients. The study comprised 575 patients who were allocated to receive either single frozen/thawed blastocyst-stage transfer (SBT) or frozen/thawed double-cleavage-stage embryo transfer (DET). The clinical pregnancy rate, implantation rate, and ongoing pregnancy rate were higher in the SBT group compared with the DET group (41.15% vs. 27.11%, p < 0.001; 41.15% vs. 19.28%, p < 0.001; 40.03% vs. 25.9%, p < 0.001), but the miscarriage rate did not differ between the two groups. Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), such as GCN, GraphSAGE, GAT, and SGC, have achieved state-of-the-art performance on a wide range of graph-based tasks. These models all use a technique called neighborhood aggregation, in which the embedding of each node is updated by aggregating the embeddings of its neighbors. However, not all information aggregated from neighbors is beneficial. In some cases, a portion of the neighbor information may be harmful to the downstream tasks. For the high-quality aggregation of beneficial information, we propose a flexible method EGAI (Enhancing Graph neural networks by a high-quality Aggregation of beneficial Information). The core concept of this method is to filter out the redundant and harmful information by removing specific edges during each training epoch. The practical and theoretical motivations, considerations, and strategies related to this method are discussed in detail. EGAI is a general method that can be combined with many backbone models (e.g., GCN, GraphSAGE, GAT, and SGC) to enhance their performance in the node classification task. In addition, EGAI reduces the convergence speed of over-smoothing that occurs when models are deepened. Extensive experiments on three real-world networks demonstrate that EGAI indeed improves the performance for both shallow and deep GNN models, and to some extent, mitigates over-smoothing. At present, the country vigorously calls for the use of green, energy-saving and environmentally friendly materials in various fields, especially in electronic power systems that require the use of low-loss soft magnetic alloy materials. Amorphous nanocrystalline alloy materials that have received widespread attention have excellent high magnetic permeability and low loss performance. Therefore, this material has become a power system with energy saving, environmental protection and excellent efficiency. Among them, soft magnetic alloys have the most application prospects. In this paper, various amorphous/nanocrystalline samples have been successfully prepared by vacuum arc melting and rapid cooling. Using XRD, HV and SEM testing and analysis methods, the structure, hardness, mechanical properties, magnetic properties and other alloys were successfully prepared. Mo element improves the ability to form glass from amorphous nanocrystalline alloys, the alloy with alloy composition (F e 0.5 C o 0.5 ) 66 N b 6 B 26 M o 2 has the best glass forming ability. The addition of Mo deteriorates the soft magnetic properties of the alloy. The saturation magnetic flux density Ms of the alloy is reduced from 81 to 59 emu/g, but the coercive force is not significantly improved. By increasing the Fe content, the amorphous forming ability and heat the stability decreases, the Vickers hardness and corrosion resistance decrease, and the saturation magnetization and coercivity increase. Besides motor disorder, cognitive dysfunction is also common in Parkinson's disease (PD). Essentially no causal therapy for cognitive dysfunction of PD exists at present. In this study, a 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-induced mouse model of PD was used to analyze the neuroprotective potential of orally administered silibinin, a proverbial hepatoprotective flavonoid derived from the herb milk thistle (Silybum marianum). Results demonstrated that silibinin administration significantly attenuated MPTP-induced cognitive impairment in behavioral tests. Nissl staining results showed that MPTP injection significantly increases the loss of neurons in the hippocampus. However, these mice were protected by oral administration of silibinin, accompanying reduction in the cell apoptosis in the hippocampus. The hippocampal aggregates of α-synuclein (α-syn) appeared in MPTP-injected mice, but were significantly decreased by silibinin treatment. MPTP injection induced oxidative stress, as evidenced by increased malondialdehyde (MDA) and decreased superoxide dismutase (SOD). The oxidative stress was alleviated by silibinin treatment. Mitochondrial disorder including the decline of mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) was another signature in the hippocampus of MPTP-treated mice, accompanying increased mitochondrial fission and decreased fusion. Silibinin administration restored these mitochondrial disorders, as expected for the protection against MPTP injury. Forest stock volume is the main factor to evaluate forest carbon sink level. At present, the combination of multi-source remote sensing and non-parametric models has been widely used in FSV estimation. However, the biodiversity of natural forests is complex, and the response of the spatial information of remote sensing images to FSV is significantly reduced, which seriously affects the accuracy of FSV estimation. To address this challenge, this paper takes China's Baishanzu Forest Park with representative characteristics of natural forests as the research object, integrates the forest survey data, SRTM data, and Landsat 8 images of Baishanzu Forest Park, constructs a time series dataset based on survey time, and establishes an FSV estimation model based on the CNN-LSTM-Attention algorithm. The model uses the convolutional neural network to extract the spatial features of remote sensing images, uses the LSTM to capture the time-varying characteristics of FSV, captures the feature variables with a high response to FSV through the attention mechanism, and finally completes the prediction of FSV. The experimental results show that some features (e.g., texture, elevation, etc.) of the dataset based on multi-source data feature variables are more effective in FSV estimation than spectral features. Compared with the existing models such as MLR and RF, the proposed model achieved higher accuracy in the study area (R2 = 0.8463, rMSE = 26.73 m3/ha, MAE = 16.47 m3/ha). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The genotype-phenotype relationships between TUBB8 variants and female infertility are difficult to clearly define due to the complex inheritance patterns and the highly heterogeneous phenotypes. This study aims to identify novel TUBB8 variants and relevant phenotypes in more infertile females. Methods: A total of 35 females with primary infertility were recruited from two reproductive centers and investigated for identifying variants in TUBB8. Pedigree analysis, in-silico analysis and molecular remodeling were performed to assess their clinical significance. The effects of the variants on human oocytes and embryos as well as HeLa cells were analyzed by morphological observations, immunostaining and Western blot. Results: We totally identified five novel variants (p.G13R, p.Y50C, p.T136I, p.F265V and p.T366A) and five previously reported variants (p.I4L, p.L42V, p.Q134*, p.V255M and p.V349I) in TUBB8 from 9 unrelated females with primary infertility. These variants were rare and highly conserved among different species, and were inherited in autosomal dominant/recessive patterns, or occurred de novo. In vitro functional assays in HeLa cells revealed that exogenous expression of mutant TUBB8 proteins caused different degrees of microtubule structural disruption. The existence of these pathogenic TUBB8 variants finally induced oocyte maturation arrest or morphological abnormalities, fertilization failure, cleavage failure, embryonic development defects and implantation failure in the affected females. Conclusion: These findings enriched the variant spectrum of TUBB8 gene and could contribute to optimize genetic counselling and clinical management of females with primary infertility. To characterize the effects of extreme weather, such as heavy precipitation and cold waves, on phytoplankton communities, four seasonal cruises were conducted in the subtropical Pearl River Estuary. Among the main phytoplankton taxa, small (pico- and nano-sized) phytoplankton accounted for approximately 50% and 70% in the upstream estuary. In spring, summer, and autumn, small-sized phytoplankton communities were dominated by Chlorophyta (20–45%), Ochrophyta (Bacillariophyceae; 25–40%), and Dinoflagellata (20–25%), associated with high phytoplankton network stability and river discharge. In winter, small phytoplankton communities were dominated by Cryptophyta (50%), Dinoflagellata (25%), and Ochrophyta (Bacillariophyceae; 10%), which were associated with low network stability and temperature. Low light and high nutrient conditions induced by large river discharge favored the growth of the smallest known brackish Chlorophyta, such as Ostreococcus tauri. Low temperatures provided a competitive advantage for the survival of the small-sized cryptophyte genus Teleaulax, especially in the upstream estuary during the 2020/2021 extreme cold wave period. Our findings highlight the impact of extreme weather induced by climatic events on the miniaturization of phytoplankton communities in subtropical estuaries by altering temperature, light availability, and nutrient dynamics. Having even particle size and regular morphology of biochar microspheres (BM) provides the possibility for preparing polylactic acid (PLA) films. Hence, the novelty is proposing a strategy for reinforcing PLA by BM. It was found that BM exhibited regular morphology, higher thermal stability, even particle size, and better pore characteristics. Although adding BM decreased the toughness of PLA due to the poor compatibility between BM and PLA, the nucleation effect of BM facilitated the crystallization in the PLA system. The tensile strength and modulus of BM/PLA composite films increased first and then decreased with increasing BM content. The stress concentration formed by BM particle agglomeration was responsible for the tensile strength and modulus decreases of BM/PLA composite films under higher BM addition. 2% BM added and 3% added composite films exhibited the best tensile strength and modulus with 64.99 MPa and 1.59 GPa, which was mainly attributed to the proper proportion of BM to PLA and the uniform distribution of BM in PLA. Abstract This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of JUNCAO Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharide peptide (JCGLPP) on slaughter performance and intestinal health of Minxinan black rabbits, which aimed to provide the basis for the application of JCGLPP in meat rabbits. One hundred male weaned Minxinan black rabbits of (33 ± 2) d [(initial body mass (655.65 ± 25.90) g] were randomly divided into four groups with five replicates per group and five rabbits per replicate. The diets were supplemented with 0 (control group), 50 (group I), 100 (group II) and 150 mg·kg−1 (group III) of JCGLPP, respectively. This experiment lasted for 56 days. The results are shown below: (1) The live weight before slaughter of groups I and III was significantly higher than that of control group (p < 0.05); The full net bore weight of group III was significantly higher than that of control group (p < 0.05). (2) pH value of group I was significantly higher than that of control group (p < 0.05); NH3–N content in experimental groups were significantly higher than that in control group(p < 0.05) while NH3-N content in group I was significantly higher than that in groups III and II (p < 0.05); The content of butyric acid in group II was significantly lower than that in control group (p < 0.05); There were no significant differences in acetic acid, isovaleric acid, isobutyric acid and propionic acid in experimental groups compared with control group (p > 0.05). (3) The Occludin content in duodenum, jejunum and ileum of groups I and II was significantly higher than that of control group (p < 0.05). (4) At the phylum level, Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes were the dominant phylum in each group. At the genus level, norank_f__norank_o__Clostridia_UCG-014 in group II were significantly higher than those in control group (p < 0.05). In conclusion, although dietary JCGLPP supplementation could not improve slaughter performance of Minxinan black rabbits, it could improve cecal fermentation parameters and intestinal flora structure and composition of Minxinan black rabbits to a certain extent.
