This paper aims to identify the factors that are positively or negatively impacting students' well-being and their academic engagement. We used partial least-squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) using the data collected through a questionnaire from four countries: Romania, Turkey, Slovakia, and Bulgaria. The model includes seven factors that influence the well-being of students and indirectly their academic engagement: stressors in the students' lives; professors' support; social support from family and friends; the students' perceived satisfaction in their lives; engaging in activities during their leisure time; self-exploration regarding their careers; and environmental exploration regarding their careers. The results show that all factors, except for stressors and environmental exploration regarding their careers, positively influence the students' well-being and thus their academic engagement. Hearing loss that arises from various causes at different stages of life has a direct impact on individuals' physical and mental well-being. This paper aimed to evaluate the employment, workplace adaptation, productivity, and professional success of individuals who have hearing loss and whose hearing loss is corrected with a cochlear implant. In this cross-sectional study, data were collected between November 2022 and March 2023 with the participation of individuals with cochlear implants living in several settlements in all regions of Türkiye. A total of 142 participants with severe hearing loss who were corrected with a cochlear implant were included in this study. The survey method was used to collect data for the study. The questionnaire consisted of 32 questions and was distributed to the participants online. In the first part of the questionnaire (questions 1–10), the general characteristics of implant patients were investigated. In the second part (questions 11–32), the positive or negative effects of implantation on the work lives of the participants were evaluated. Almost half of the research group (49.3%, n = 70) consisted of women, and the mean age of the participants was determined to be 35.8 ± 14.8 years. There was no significant difference between gender, educational status, implanted side, working time, working style (physical, desk), and factors affecting work life (p > 0.05). Professional satisfaction and success at work increased significantly more in those with acquired hearing loss (p = 0.010). Post-implantation workplace compliance, success, and productivity were found to be higher in those with acquired hearing loss (p = 0.013). Hearing loss had a significantly less negative impact on work performance in those implanted in childhood than in those implanted in adulthood (p = 0.043). It was observed that hearing loss had a greater negative impact on the work life of married people (p = 0.006). Cochlear implantation greatly enhances workplace satisfaction, increases self-confidence, and has a positive impact on the future of profoundly deaf individuals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As the Syrian crisis has reached its 10th year, this paper explores posttraumatic growth and the related factors among Syrian refugees in Turkey, with the aim of having a better understanding of the predictors of PTG and the risk factors that may play a role in the inhibition of the growth. In this cross-sectional study, 217 displaced Syrian refugees completed the Post Traumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI), Harvard Trauma Questionnaire (HTQ), Brief COPE, General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5), and sociodemographic information form by a self-reported online survey. Risk and protective factors were associated in bivariate analysis with growth p<0.05 and were retained in multiple regression models to control the confounders. Participants' 60.7% were females, and the mean age was 32.6± 9.4 years. Growth was found to be highest in the Personal Strengths, New Possibilities and Appreciation of Life, Relating to Others, and Spiritual Change. While the consistency of job education, economic status, education level, number of children, level of self-efficacy, level of Turkish, active coping style, religious coping, and self-distraction (p<0.05) were protective factors, the number of traumatic events, and the PTSD symptoms and self-blame were risk factors (p<0.05) in multiple analysis. However, no significant relationship was found for the variables of marital status, taking support, self-distraction, emotional and instrumental support, positive reframing, planning, cultural perception, working type, and age (p>0.05). In conclusion, the findings have provided valuable insight into the domains of the growth among Syrian refugees and discussed both clinical and research-based future recommendations that could be made to improve the mental health of the refugees based on the obtained results. INTRODUCTION Many studies have shown that training in smoking cessation care (SCC) is important for increasing the number and quality of delivered interventions by health professionals, and various training methods are available. The study aimed to identify the relationship between receiving training on SCC and the frequency of providing outpatient-based SCC among pulmonologists who were members of the Turkish Thoracic Society (TTS). METHODS For this cross-sectional study, a self-administered online questionnaire-based survey was conducted on a group of active pulmonologists who were members of the TTS, between April and October 2019. The survey included questions about demographics, smoking status, participation in SCC training, and providing outpatient-based SCC. RESULTS A total of 199 (53%) pulmonologists were actively taking part in outpatient-based SCC. Compared to those that were not providing outpatient-based SCC, median age, median time since graduation, and the number of non-academics, non-current smokers and recipients of smoking cessation care training were significantly higher in the group providing outpatient-based SCC (p<0.001, p<0.001, p=0.002, p=0.001, respectively). It was observed that having SCC training increased more than 6-fold the likelihood of providing outpatient-based SCC (AOR=6.45; 95% CI: 3.96--10.49; p<0.001). CONCLUSIONS The most crucial obstacle in providing smoking cessation is healthcare workers not providing smoking cessation to smokers. It is worthwhile to devote more tasks and resources to training physicians on smoking cessation care since this may increase their effective involvement in tobacco cessation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

INTRODUCTION Thirdhand smoke is the toxic remnant, including pollutants and byproducts, of tobacco smoke that remains in the environment after the use of tobacco products. This study aimed to evaluate the relationships between the demographic characteristics and the beliefs about thirdhand smoke of medical faculty students. METHODS This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with 392 medical faculty students at Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University. All the participants completed the Beliefs About ThirdHand Smoke (BATHS) questionnaire. Demographic data such as age, gender, year of study, family income level, and place of residence were recorded and evaluated together with tobacco product usage status. Factors (demographic data such as gender) affecting the BATHS scale and sub-scales were analyzed using SPSS software. RESULTS The study included 392 medical students. The students comprised 59.7% females and 40.3% males. The students had never used tobacco products (68.1%), 13% were previous users, and 18.9% were active users. The majority of the students stated that thirdhand smoke was harmful to the health of children (90%) and adults (85%) and that thirdhand smoke could remain in a room for days (79%). When the relationships were evaluated between the BATHS scale overall and the health and permanence subscales, and the demographic characteristics of the students, no statistically significant difference was determined according to gender, place of residence, family income level, and tobacco use status. CONCLUSIONS This study has provided information for the first time about the beliefs of medical faculty students about thirdhand smoke, and the relationships were investigated between these beliefs and gender, place of residence, family income level, and tobacco use status. The results of the study demonstrated that the students had a strong awareness of the harm of thirdhand smoke and of environmental permanence, and these beliefs did not change according to their own tobacco use status. This study aimed to compare the effect of room arrangement on the mood and milk volume of mothers who gave birth by cesarean section and whose babies were not with them. The study included 89 mothers with and without infants living in the same room (Group 1) and 94 mothers without and without infants living in the same room (Group 2) (n = 183). The expression of milk was performed twice (0–6 h after birth and 36–48 h before discharge) using an electric breast pump. Expression lasted 15 min for each breast separately. The mean first milk volume of the mothers (Group 1: 5.56 ± 5.03 cc, Group 2: 3.76 ± 3.73 cc) and the mean last milk volume (Group 1: 18.78 ± 15.43 cc, Group 2: 10.64 ± 14.12 cc) were determined, and a significant difference was found between the groups. The mean milk volume of Group 1 was found to be significantly higher than Group 2 (Group 1: 13.21 cc ± 14.62 cc, Group 2: 6.88 cc ± 13.56 cc) (p < 0.05). A statistically significant difference was found between the two groups in terms of positive and negative mood (p = 0.003). In conclusion, it was determined that the milking behavior of mothers was negatively affected due to the lack of stimulation in the room where there was no baby, and this situation negatively affected the start time of the first milking and the average milk volume. Introduction: Misophonia, not yet classified within diagnostic manuals, triggers strong emotional, physiological, and behavioural reactions to specific sounds. This study examines its correlations with attention deficient/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) traits, obsessive-compulsive traits, and autism-related traits in adolescent outpatients with non-psychotic disorders. We hypothesize a positive association between misophonic symptoms and these psychological traits. Methods: This study was conducted at a Turkish psychiatric centre from January to July 2023 in adolescents aged 12-18. Parents completed the Autism Spectrum Quotient-Adolescent (AQ-Adolescent), and Conner's ADHD Parent Rating Scale-48 (CPRS-48), while the adolescent filled out the Misophonic Symptom Checklist (MCL) and Maudsley Obsessive- Compulsive Inventory (MOCI). Using non-parametric statistical tests, the research found associations between the scales, with a total sample size of 348. Results: Females had higher scores on MCL. There is a negative correlation between AQ-Adolescent and MCL, positive correlations between MCL-MOCI and MCL-CPRS-48. In gender specific correlation analysis found that AQ-Adolescent and MCL were negatively correlated, MCL and MOCI were positively correlated in males. MCL, CPRS-48 and MOCI were positively correlated in females. In regression AQ-Adolescent, MOCI and CPRS-48 significantly predicted the levels of MCL. Conclusions: Our study unveils a link between ADHD, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, autistic traits, and misophonic symptoms in adolescent psychiatric outpatients, highlighting sex differences. Background: Oral problems are a common occurrence among school-age children. In order to develop effective oral health interventions and services, it is essential to determine children's oral health behaviours using an internationally accepted standardised instrument that is child-friendly. However, no instrument currently exists to measure oral health according to the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) in Turkish school-aged children. The aim of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of the Oral Health Questionnaire, which includes the components of the theory of planned behavior such as attitude toward children's oral health, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and self-efficacy, for the Turkish population. Methods: This was a methodological–descriptive–correlational study conducted on 298 school children aged 9–10 years. Data were collected using The Oral Health Questionnaire. The data were evaluated using explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, item-total score correlation, and Pearson product-moment correlation analysis. Results: Factor analysis confirmed the five-dimensional structure. The factor loads were greater than 0.30, and all fit indices were greater than 0.90. The model consistency indexes were found to be X2 = 146.95, RMSEA = 0.053, GFI = 0.94, CFI = 0.98, IFI = 0.97, and NNFI = 0.97. The Cronbach's alpha values of its sub-dimensions were 0.71 and 0.80. Conclusions: The Turkish version of Oral Health Questionnaire is considered a reliable and valid instrument that can be used by professionals to determine children's attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and oral and dental health intentions toward tooth brushing. Background: With the rapid improvement in healthcare technologies, the security and privacy of the most sensitive data are at risk. Patient privacy has many components, even when data are in electronic format. Although patient privacy has extensively been discussed in the literature, there is no study that has presented all components of patient privacy. Methods: This study presents a complete assessment framework, develops an inventory as an assessment tool, and examines the reliability and validity of the inventory. The study was carried out in three phases: conceptual framework development, inventory development, and an evaluation case study. Fuzzy conjoint analysis was used in the evaluation to deal with subjectivity and ambiguity. As a result of the evaluation, the case study institution was given a patient privacy maturity level between 1 and 5, where 1 is the worst and 5 is the best. Results: The case study evaluated the largest hospital in Turkey, which employs 800 nurses. Half of the nurses, 400, participated in the study. According to the literature, healthcare institutions do not invest enough in protecting patients' privacy, and the results of the study support this finding. The institution's maturity level was 2, which is poor. Conclusions: This study measured privacy maturity with many assessment components. The result of the assessment explains to patients and the public whether their data are secure or not. With the implementation of this maturity level, patients have an idea about which institution to choose, and the public can infer the reliability of institutions in terms of patient privacy. Objective: This study was carried out to determine the effect of self-management support given to patients diagnosed with hypertension on the hypertension knowledge level, treatment adherence and self-care management, and to examine the changes in patients' blood pressure after the self-management support. Background: The rise of chronic diseases such as hypertension necessitates the equipment of patients with sufficient knowledge and skills necessary to manage their disease and self-care. Methods: This randomised controlled research was conducted with a total of 137 patients, including 69 intervention and 68 control patients. Data were collected using the "Patient Information Form", "Hypertension Knowledge-Level Scale", "Hill-Bone Compliance to High Blood Pressure Therapy Scale" and "Self Care Management Process in Chronic Illness Scale" at the first interview and the last interview three months after the first interview. One week after the first interview, the patients in the intervention group received self-management support including information about hypertension and its management and blood pressure measurement skills. results: After self-management support, a significant improvement was found in hypertension knowledge level (p=0.000), treatment adherence (p=0.000), and self-care management (p=0.000) of patients in the intervention group A significant decrease was determined in systolic (p=0.000) and diastolic blood pressure (p=0.000) of patients in the intervention group. conclusion: Self-management support has shown positive effects in increasing hypertension knowledge level, adherence to hypertension treatment, self-care management, and blood pressure control in patients diagnosed with hypertension. This study also provides nurses with an approach in which they can effectively use training and counselling roles for patients. implications for research, policy, and practice: Patients diagnosed with hypertension should be educated by nurses about the disease. Nurses should teach the patients who are diagnosed with hypertension the ability to monitor their blood pressure at home. INTRODUCTION The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the anxiety level of smokers and the relationship between smoking behavior and COVID-19 anxiety level. METHODS Our study was planned as a descriptive cross-sectional survey. A 32-question face-to-face questionnaire containing the Coronavirus Anxiety Scale (CAS) and the Fagerström test for nicotine dependence (FTND) was administered to 349 patients who had applied to the smoking cessation polyclinic between 15 May 2021 and 1 August 2021. SPSS 25.00 was used for statistical analysis. RESULTS A total of 349 individuals participated in the study. The mean CAS and FTND total scores were 0.89±2.13 (range: 0-20) and 6.34±2.53 (range: 0-10), respectively. There was a statistically significant difference between CAS total score and gender (p=0.005), marital status (p=0.006), changes in the amount of smoking during the pandemic (p=0.011), and impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on smoking cessation (p<0.001). The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on smoking cessation was statistically significantly different between knowing that the rate of intensive care unit (ICU) admissions due to COVID-19 infection is higher in smokers, smokers are heavily infected with COVID-19 and the mortality rate due to COVID-19 infection is higher in smokers (p<0.001). CONCLUSIONS Anxiety due to the COVID-19 pandemic may cause a change in the amount of smoking and the decision to quit smoking. Aim: This study was conducted to determine the effect of music on the pain, anxiety, and comfort levels of patients who underwent bone marrow aspiration and biopsy. Methods: This study was conducted on patients with hematological malignancies. Music was used with the intervention group. Patients' pain, anxiety, and comfort levels were measured. In addition, qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with patients. Results: A significant difference (p < 0.05) was found between the experimental and control groups regarding pain, comfort and anxiety levels following the application of music. It was found that there was a negative correlation between comfort and pain (r=-0.442 p < 0.001) and between comfort and anxiety (r=-0.544 p < 0.001). As a result of qualitative interviews, patients mentioned the relaxing effect of music and the reduction of anxiety and pain levels. They also stated that music can be utilized as an alternative method. Conclusion: According to the results of the present study, music reduced the pain and anxiety levels of the patients in bone marrow aspiration and biopsy and increased their comfort levels. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination rates and factors affecting vaccination in children with rheumatic diseases. Patients and methods: This multicenter cross-sectional survey-based study was conducted between July 2022 and September 2022. Four hundred seventy-four patients (256 females, 218 males; median age: 15 years; interquartile range, 13 to 16 years) were included in the patient group, and 211 healthy children (124 females, 87 males; median age: 15 years; interquartile range, 13 to 16 years) were included in the control group. A questionnaire was administered to the parents face-to-face during routine outpatient visits. Results: Of the patients, 220 were followed up with the diagnosis of autoinflammatory disease, 174 with juvenile idiopathic arthritis, 48 with connective tissue disease, 23 with vasculitis, eight with uveitis, and one with sarcoidosis. In the study group, 256 (54%) patients and 115 (54.5%) healthy children received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Parents' concern regarding potential side effects of the vaccine was the most common reason for COVID-19 vaccination hesitancy in both groups. The median patient age, follow-up period, colchicine treatment rates, childhood vaccination and influenza vaccination rates, median parental age, parental vaccination rate, and parental education level were higher in vaccinated patients (p<0.05 for all). In addition, vaccination rates were high in patients who shared their concerns about vaccination with the rheumatology team (p<0.001). Conclusion: Parents' concerns about safety and side effects were found to be the most important factors affecting vaccination success. Identification of the underlying causes of parental vaccine hesitancy will facilitate the development of effective vaccination strategies for potential future outbreaks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As in many other countries, baseline data concerning the linguistic development of bilingual children in Sweden are lacking, and suitable methods for identifying developmental language disorder (DLD) in bilinguals are lacking as well. This study presents reference data from 108 typically developing (TD) Turkish/Swedish-speaking children aged 4;0–8;1, for a range of language tasks developed specifically for the assessment of bilinguals (LITMUS test battery, COST Action IS0804). We report on different types of nonword repetition (NWR) tasks (language-specific and language-independent), receptive and expressive vocabulary (Cross-Linguistic Lexical Tasks, CLTs), and narrative macrostructure comprehension and production (Multilingual Assessment Instrument for Narratives, MAIN) in Turkish, the children's home language, and in Swedish, the language of schooling and society. Performance was investigated in relation to age, language exposure, type of task, and (for NWR and narratives) vocabulary size. There was a positive development with age for all tasks, but effects of language exposure and vocabulary size differed between tasks. Six bilingual Turkish/Swedish children with DLD were individually compared to the TD children. TD/DLD performance overlapped substantially, particularly for NWR, and more so for the production than the comprehension tasks. Surprisingly, the discriminatory potential was poor for both language-specific and language-independent NWR. DLD case studies underscored the importance of interpreting language scores in relation to exposure history, and the need for an increased emphasis on functional language skills as reported by parents and teachers when assessing and diagnosing DLD in bilinguals. Background: The Covid-19 affected all stages of the education system, from preschool education to higher education and uncertainties in education caused various health problems, especially stress. Aim: The aim of the study was to examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on nursing students' stress levels in Turkey. Methodology: It is a cross-sectional web-based survey. The population of the study includes the students of a Nursing Department of a Faculty of Health Sciences of a state university in Turkey (N=739). The sample of this study consisted of 311 nursing students. The data were collected via Google Forms using the "Sociodemographic Data Collection Form", "Questionnaire Form Regarding the Changes in Stress Level Caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic", and "Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-14)". Descriptive statistics, One Way ANOVA, Student's t-test and multiple linear regression analysis were adopted for data analysis. Results: It was determined that students experienced moderate stress during the COVID-19 pandemic period [Perceived Stress Scale-14 (PSS-14) mean score was 29.81±7.33]. Results suggest that PSS-14 total mean scores and the variables of "I have trouble overcoming the problems in my life", "I have difficulty in concentrating", and "I feel restless and angry" were statistically significant (p<0.05). (1) Background: This study aimed to determine whether standard-dose vitamin D supplementation could provide adequate levels in exclusively breastfed infants born with different cord 25(OH)D levels and to evaluate related neonatal morbidities. (2) Methods: A prospective cross-sectional study was designed in term infants. Three groups were formed based on cord 25(OH)D levels; Group1 Deficiency:25(OH)D < 12 ng/mL, Group2 Insufficiency:25(OH)D = 12–19 ng/mL, and Group3 Optimum:25(OH)D = 20–100 ng/mL. Cord and 1st month 25(OH)D levels, after receiving standard-dose vitamin D prophylaxis, neonatal outcomes and anthropometric measurements were compared. (3) Results: The study involved 86 infants. Group1 Deficiency had also significantly lower 25(OH)D levels at 1st month compared to the others (p < 0.001). There was a significant positive correlation between cord and 1st month 25(OH)D levels (r = 0.78, p < 0.001). Despite the fact that the mother's age and clothing style were similar, Group1 Deficiency mothers had higher parity numbers and used less vitamin D during pregnancy (p = 0.03, p = 0.04). Neonatal outcomes analysis revealed that newborns in Group1 Deficiency experienced more respiratory distress, transient tachypnea, and early-onset sepsis, as well as more and longer hospital stays in the first-month of life (p < 0.05). (4) Conclusions: Infants with low cord 25(OH)D levels had also lower 25(OH)D values in the 1st month of life and experienced higher rates of neonatal morbidities. Given its numerous biological activities and impact on neonatal morbidities, determining an individualized dose of vitamin D supplementation may be more accurate than using the standard approach. OBJECTIVE: Tobacco use is an important risk factor for more than 20 types of cancer, especially cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, and many other health problems. Cigarettes are one of the most commonly used tobacco products in the world, and they can cause both physical and mental addiction. Adolescence is known to be the highest-risk period in terms of addiction among all age groups. As a result, smoke-free campus practices have become even more important in universities. This study investigates the prevalence of smoking among Pamukkale Medical School students and their views and behaviors regarding smoke-free campus practices. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 548 medical students at Pamukkale Universıty Faculty of Medicine during the academic year 2021-2022, between April 1-29, 2022. A face-to-face interview was conducted. Students' smoking status and their views about a smoke-free campus were assessed. In the questionnaire, the independent variables were socio-demographic characteristics, duration of staying in a smoke-free environment, smoking status in the place of residence, areas where smoking is most common, Fagerström nicotine dependence level, knowledge about smoke-free campus applications and campuses with the smokefree application. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 21.0 package program was used to analyze the data. Descriptive statistics are presented with numbers and percentages for categorical variables, while the arithmetic mean and standard deviation are used for continuous variables. The chi-square test was used to compare categorical variables, and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov analysis was used to test the compatibility of data to normal distribution. RESULTS: The student smoking rate increased significantly as the number of semesters increased (P = .021). The smoking rate of male students was higher than that of female students (P = .001). The smoking rate of students living with their family or relatives was lower (P = .020). Smokers (14.7%) were more likely to have heard about the introduction of smoke-free zones on campus than nonsmokers (11%) (P = .280). 81.4% of students affirmed the statement, "The number of smoke-free rooms should be increased," and 84.3% responded, "I support the existence of smoke-free spaces." Nonsmoking students (90.8%) are more likely to agree that smoke-free spaces should be increased than those who smoke (57.7%) (P < .001). Among the students, 17.6% of nonsmokers and 37.8% of smokers find the information about smoke-free spaces sufficient (P < .001). The rate of those who consider smoke-free space inspections to be sufficient is lower for nonsmoking students than for nonsmokers (P = .017). Nonsmokers (89.5%) support the existence of smoke-free spaces to a higher degree than smokers (71.2%) (P < .001). CONCLUSION: One-third of Pamukkale University Faculty of Medicine students smoke, and smoking rates are higher among men and those who do not live with family or relatives. All participants strongly support the existence of smoke-free zones (84.3%), while a proportion of tobacco users (31.4%) support the implementation of a smoke-free campus. Background: Cryptocurrency addiction is a new type of behavioral addiction that should be urgently addressed by professionals within the public mental health context. Therefore, a psychometrically sound measurement tool is urgently needed. Objectives: This study aimed to develop a 'cryptocurrency addiction scale'. Design: A descriptive, cross-sectional, and methodological design. Setting: Turkey. Participants: A total of 279 Turkish people participated in the first stage and 289 people participated in the second stage of the study. Methods: Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were used to test construct validity. To test criterion-related validity, Pearson's correlation coefficients between the Cryptocurrency Addiction Scale and the Generalized Problematic Internet Use Scale 2, De Jong Gierveld Loneliness Scale, and Epworth Sleepiness Scale were investigated. Internal reliability was assessed using Cronbach's a and McDonald's ra. Test-retest reliability was tested using Pearson's correlation between these two measures. Results: Exploratory factor analysis resulted in the extraction of six factors (conflict, tolerance, relapse, withdrawal, mood modification, and salience), which explained 63.41% of the total variance. The first-and second-order confirmatory factor analysis models showed good model fit. Participants' scores on the Cryptocurrency Addiction Scale showed significant positive correlations with problematic Internet use, loneliness, and sleepiness scores. Cronbach's a and McDonald's ra reliability coefficients of the scale were 0.93. A significant positive correlation was found between the test and retest scores of the scale. Conclusion: The Cryptocurrency Addiction Scale showed good construct validity, criterion-related validity, internal reliability, and test-retest reliability. Background: The prevention and treatment of pain may positively influence mechanical ventilation, physiological indicators and the use of analgesic drugs, and the mortality rate. Depending on invasive procedures, intubated patients experience varying levels of pain and may have various responses to pain. Aim: The present study aimed to define pain behaviors and hemodynamic parameters and to examine the effects of endotracheal suctioning and invasive procedures on hemodynamic parameters and pain behaviors in adult intensive care patients. Methods: The study was conducted using a descriptive-observational design. Each patient was observed during 1 suctioning and 2 different invasive procedures (3 observations). Researchers observed each patient during one suctioning procedure and 2 invasive procedures (intra-arterial catheter insertion, nasogastric tube application, subcutaneous injection, or intravenous catheter insertion). The pain behaviors and hemodynamic parameters were evaluated 4 times in total (before the procedure, during the procedure, 5 minutes, and 15 minutes after the procedure). The observation results were recorded. Results: Statistically significant differences were detected in hemodynamic parameters (i.e. blood pressure, pulse rate, saturation) observed before, during, and after the suctioning (p < .05). The sample consisted of 66 intubated patients treated at the intensive care unit. Behavioral Pain Scale scores increased during the suctioning and invasive procedures compared to pre-suctioning. Nasogastric tube insertion, intra-arterial catheter insertions, and intravenous injection applications were the most painful interventions, respectively. Concluson: The intensive care patients must be monitored closely for pain indicators and hemodynamic changes during invasive procedures. Background: Covid-19, which affected countries all over the world have disrupted health services and cancer screenings worldwide. Aims: The study aimed to determine women's access to cervical cancer screening during the Covid-19 pandemic in Turkey. Methods: The study was planned as a descriptive cross-sectional. This study was completed by 443 sexually active women. The data were collected between 19 March and 27 April 2021 using the "Data Collection Form" and the "Attitudes Towards Prevention of Cervical Cancer Scale". Results: More than half of the women stated that Covid-19 and pandemic restrictions did not affect their pap-smear. However, the Attitudes Towards Prevention of Cervical Cancer Scale Cognitive and Affective mean scores of the women who stated that the pandemic restrictions did not affect her getting pap-smear were lower than the women who stated that it did. This situation shows that the attitudes of women who stated that pandemic restrictions do not affect their pap smears have low attitudes towards protection from cervical cancer. Conclusions: It has been found that the Covid-19 pandemic and the restrictions in accessing the health services related to the pandemic have an impact on the attitudes towards protection from cervical cancer, such as having a pap smear. The knee, low back, and shoulder account for most overuse injuries in volleyball. Previous researchers have used methodology that did not examine the extent of injury burden and effect on performance. To develop a more accurate and complete understanding regarding the weekly prevalence and burden of knee, low back, and shoulder problems within the highest levels of men's volleyball, including the role that preseason complaints, match participation, player position, team, and age have on complaints. Descriptive epidemiology study. Professional volleyball clubs and the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I program. A total of 75 male volleyball players, representing 4 teams playing in their country's respective premier league (Japan, Qatar, Turkey, and the United States), participated over a 3-season period. Players completed a weekly questionnaire (Oslo Sports Trauma Research Centre Overuse Injury Questionnaire) reporting pain related to their sport and the extent to which knee, low back, and shoulder problems affected participation, training volume, and performance. Problems leading to moderate or severe reductions in training volume or performance or the inability to participate were considered substantial problems. The mean weekly prevalence of knee, low back, and shoulder problems based on 102 player-seasons was 31% (95% CI = 28%, 34%), 21% (95% CI = 18%, 23%), and 19% (95% CI = 18%, 21%), respectively. Most players (93%, 95/102 player-seasons) reported some level of knee (79%, n = 81/102 player-seasons), low back (71%, n = 72/102 player-seasons), or shoulder (67%, n = 68/102 player-seasons) complaints during the season. Most players (58%, n = 59/102 player-seasons) experienced at least 1 episode of substantial problems affecting the knee (33%, n = 34/102 player-seasons), low back (27%, n = 28/102 player-seasons), or shoulder (27%, n = 28/102 player-seasons). Players with preseason complaints had more in-season complaints than teammates without preseason problems (mean weekly prevalence: knee, 42% versus 8%, t49 = −18.726, P <.001; low back, 34% versus 6%, t32 = −12.025, P <.001; shoulder, 38% versus 8%, t30 = −10.650, P <.001). Nearly all included elite male volleyball players experienced knee, low back, or shoulder problems, and most had at least 1 bout that substantially reduced training participation or sport performance. Aim: Primary care physicians need to be aware of the types of traditional and complementary medicine (TCM) used by patients to be able to guide patients away from harmful approaches and to aim them toward useful or at least seeming benign approaches. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of the usage of TCM methods in Turkey and the level of knowledge and attitudes of applicants about these methods. Methods: The universe of this cross-sectional study consisted of individuals aged 18 and over who applied to the Family Health Centers and agreed to participate in the study in 12 provinces in different regions of Turkey between July and December 2016. The questionnaires were applied to the volunteer participants by the researchers using face-to-face interview techniques. The questionnaire had 25 questions. Results: 80.6% of the participants benefited from TCM, and 86.4% stated they believed in the effectiveness of TCM. Women, university graduates of college who had private insurance used TCM (respectively; p=0.031; p=0.004; p=0.000), and women (83.3%) found TCM more useful than men (p=0.005). The most frequent reason for using TCM was "heard that it was useful". Conclusion: The results of our study indicated that a large portion of Turkish primary care patients use TCM and recommend it to their relatives. OBJECTIVE: The sleep quality and physical activity levels of patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome during the lockdown period have not yet been investigated. The aim of this study was to evaluate the sleep quality, physical activity level, and fear of movement in patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and healthy individuals during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (n = 33) and healthy individuals (n = 30) were included in the study. Physical activity levels, sleep quality, and fear of movement were evaluated. RESULTS: The total physical activity amount of patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and healthy individuals was lower than the acceptable levels. The obstructive sleep apnea syndrome group had significantly lower leisure-time physical activity (P = .006) and higher sitting time (P = .008) than the healthy individuals. Patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome had significantly more sleep disturbances, daytime dysfunction, and daytime sleepiness than healthy people (P < .001). Fear of movement was negatively correlated with the amount of vigorous (r = -0.395, P = .023) and leisure activities (r = -0.557, P = .001) in the obstructive sleep apnea syndrome group. CONCLUSION: During the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and healthy individuals had lower physical activity levels. Physical activity counseling is an important strategy for increasing the physical activity of patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and healthy individuals during and after the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. Background: Clinical environment provides students with the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills learned in the courses to real patients under the guidance of clinical nurses. Methods: The population of the study was 60 students enrolled in the course "Internal Medicine Nursing Internship Practice" in the 4th grade of a State University Health Sciences Faculty Nursing Department program, and the sample was 50 students who agreed to participate in the study. Results: The mean Nursing Profession Perception Scale total score was 91.50±9.547 before the internship and 91.80±8.164 after the internship. While the students' professional self-perception before the internship was 142.26±14.834, after the internship, it was 135.96+15.494, with a significant difference between the two measurements. Conclusions: As a result of this study, it was found that the internship practice did not cause a change in their perception of the profession, and did not contribute positively to their professional self-concept. Background. Routine immunisation, one of the most successful public health initiatives, has significantly decreased infectious disease-related mortality and morbidity. Family physicians in Turkey avoid administering vaccines to children who have food allergies and instead refer them to a hospital setting. Objectives. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the approaches of family physicians when applying vaccines to children with diagnosed or suspected food allergies according to the national vaccination schedule. Material and methods. This study was carried out between 01.07.2021 and 31.08.2021 with family physicians in the Ankara province. Using questionnaire, the participants were questioned about their sociodemographic characteristics, their vaccination approaches towards patients with diagnoses or suspicions of food allergies and their personal experiences. Results. A total of 184 family physicians participated in this study, and 82.6% of them stated that they were hesitant about the administrations of vaccines to children with diagnosed or suspected food allergies. Regarding the administration of vaccines, the most concerning food allergies involved eggs (71.7%) and cow’s milk (15.8%). The vaccinations they were mainly concerned about were determined as the measles-rubella-mumps (MMR) (83.7%) and measles (46.7%) vaccines in a suspected or diagnosed presence of an egg allergy and/or cow’s milk allergy, respectively. Conclusions. This study showed that the surveyed family physicians are hesitant of vaccinating children with diagnoses or suspicions of food allergies and see themselves as intermediately qualified. This can cause referrals of children to higher-level centres for vaccinations, delays in vaccinations and parental vaccine hesitancies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Well-being is a crucial construct in young people's lives that directly affects their overall quality of life, academic performance, and social relationships. Although there is an emphasis on the significance of positive psychological states in mental health, few have focused on positive states, and psychological well-being is often conceptualized using negative indicators of mental health. The present study aims to fill the gap in the literature by testing the reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the Comprehensive Inventory of Thriving for Youth (CIT-Y) and exploring the relationship between psychological well-being and mental health problems among Turkish young people. The study involved 459 youths from a state elementary school in a city in Türkiye, with 48.8% (224 females and 235 males) of them being female and aged between 11 and 15 years (M = 12.85, SD = 0.73). Findings from the study suggest that the CIT-Y is a reliable and valid measure for assessing psychological well-being in Turkish young people. Additionally, the results show that young people with internalizing and externalizing problems report fewer positive psychological states compared to those without such problems. This emphasizes the significance of well-being domains, including loneliness and respect, in comprehending mental health issues among young people. These findings can aid mental health providers in designing interventions to enhance the psychosocial adjustment of students by providing resources to cultivate mental health and well-being. Purpose. To evaluate the vision-related quality of life (QOL), visual acuities, and refractive outcomes of patients with different angle lambda (λ) after a trifocal intraocular lens (IOL) implantation at Veni Vidi Eye Hospital, İstanbul, Turkey. Methods. This retrospective, nonrandomized, and noncomparative case series included patients who had phacoemulsification bilaterally with the implantation of a trifocal IOL (Optiflex Trio) and responded to a vision-related QOL questionnaire measuring patient satisfaction. The patients were divided into two groups according to the angle λ with a cutoff value of 0.5 mm. Evaluations were conducted to examine the monocular visual acuities, spherical equivalents, corneal astigmatism measured 3 months after surgery, and outcomes of the QOL questionnaire in the two groups. Results. The study examined 130 eyes from 65 patients aged from 41 to 78 years old. There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups at 3 months after surgery in terms of uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), monocular uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (UIVA), monocular uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA), spherical equivalent, and corneal astigmatism (P > 0.05). Patients with a greater angle λ had significantly more difficulty going out to see movies, plays, or sporting events (P = 0.02), driving at night (P = 0.002), and driving in difficult conditions (P < 0.001) than patients with a lower angle λ. Conclusions. The Optiflex Trio showed good results in terms of visual acuity at all distances, positive refractive outcomes, and high patient satisfaction in daily life according to the QOL questionnaire. Objective: Controversy exists around the world as experts disagree on what artificial intelligence will imply for humanity in the future. Medical experts are starting to share perspectives on artificial intelligence with ethical and legal concerns appearing to prevail. The purpose of this study was to determine how anesthesiology and reanimation specialists in Turkey perceive the use of artificial intelligence in ultrasound-guided regional anesthetic applications in terms of medical ethics and education, as well as their perspectives on potential ethical issues. Materials and Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional survey was conducted across Turkey between July 1 and August 31. Data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed by national associations and social media platforms. The questionnaire included questions about the descriptive features of the participants and the possible ethical problems that may be encountered in the use of artificial intelligence in regional anesthesia and 20 statements that were requested to be evaluated. Results: The average age of the 285 anesthesiologists who took part in the study was 42.00 ± 7.51, 144 of them were male, the average years spent in the field was 10.95 ± 7.15 years, 59.3% were involved in resident training, and 74.7% habitually used ultrasound guidance regional anesthetic applications. Of the participants, 80% thought artificial intelligence would benefit patients, 86.7% thought it would benefit resident training, 81.4% thought it would benefit post-graduate medical education, and 80.7% thought it would decrease complications in practice. There will be no ethical issues if sonographic data are captured anonymously, according to 78.25%, while 67% are concerned about who will be held accountable for inaccuracies. Conclusion: The majority of anesthetists believe that using artificial intelligence in regional anesthetic applications will decrease complications. Background. Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are chronic diseases that can be asymptomatic for a long time, and the first symptom may be sudden death. Objectives. This study was designed to draw attention to the frequency of both individual and occupational cardiovascular risk factors and to warn health professionals about variable risk factors. Material and methods. This research was conducted between 01.03.2022–01.09.2022. 160 participants were included in the study. The questionnaire form in which sociodemographic data was asked, the international physical activity questionnaire (short) form and the work stress scale form were directed to the participants. Blood pressure, height, weight and waist circumference were measured, and CVD risks were calculated using the SCORE (Systematic Coronary Risk Evaluation) 2 cardiovascular risk estimation algorithm. Results. Medium, high and very high CVD risks were determined in 41.8% of the employees. The risk was found to be significantly different among occupational groups (p < 0.001) and economic status (p = 0.036). Considering the relationship between shift work status and CVD risk, the risk was found to be significantly higher in those working only during day shifts compared to those working during alternating day and night shifts (p = 0.033). It has been shown that work stress does not increase the CVD risk of healthcare workers (HCW) (p = 0.857). However, it was observed that work stress significantly increases LDL and total cholesterol (p = 0.026 and p = 0.018). Conclusions. Aim: Allodynia is a pain disorder that adversely affects the prognosis of migraine and reduces the quality of life of patients with migraine. Thus, the study evaluated the relationship between the presence of allodynia and psychiatric aspects such as somatosensory amplification and pain acceptance in patients with migraine. Methods: The participants diagnosed with migraine who applied to the neurology outpatient clinic between October and December 2020 were included in this observational study. Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-V, Migraine Disability Assessment Questionnaire, Visual Analogue Scale, Allodynia Symptom Checklist-12, Beck Anxiety Inventory, Beck Depression Inventory, Somatosensory Amplification Scale, Chronic Pain Acceptance Questionnaire, and Acceptance and Action Questionnaire-II were applied to the patients. Results: Eighty-one patients aged 18-65 years were included. Allodynia was found in 50 patients (62%). There was mild allodynia in 18 patients, moderate allodynia in 14 patients, and severe allodynia in 18 patients. The number of analgesics used in a month was higher in patients with allodynia than without allodynia (p=0.038). Somatosensory Amplification Scale scores were found to be higher in migraine patients with severe allodynia than in mild allodynia (p=0.029). Conclusion: The presence of allodynia causes a more analgesic use in patients. Patients with severe allodynia are more aware of bodily sensations than mild severity. Allodynia does not make a difference in the levels of pain acceptance and willingness. Introduction: Medical tourism, one of the most profitable industries, has been growing rapidly in recent years. Especially Turkey, which has a high ranking among medical travel destinations, has some advantages that can become preferable for international patients. This study is among the first few studies which examine affecting factors in patients' medical travel destination choices with Data Mining techniques. Methods: The data were obtained from patients who came to Ankara from abroad for treatment in May 2015 through a question-naire. Cross-industry Standard Process for data mining, known as the CRISP-DM method, is used in this study. After cleaning out the missing data, the models were created using classification algorithms. Results: Models including Generalized Linear Model, Deep Learning, Decision Tree, Random Forest, Gradient Boosted Trees, and Support Vector Machine (SVM) were compared, and SVM reached the best performance with 0.2% Relative Error, 0.014 Root Mean Squared Error and 0.998 Correlation. As a result of the SVM model, effective attributes in patients' satisfaction level include low price advantage, advertisement, doctors with high-quality education, trained assistant staff, relatives living in Turkey, and high technology of medical equipment, respectively. Conclusion: Special attention should be paid to these factors in developing plans and policies for the health tourism sector. However, the importance of related socio-demographic variables was indicated in detail. Eventually, some suggestions were presented to improve the weaknesses in the health tourism sector. Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has led to significant morbidity and mortality, with the former impacting and limiting individuals requiring high physical fitness, including sportspeople and emergency services. Methods: Observational cohort study of 4 groups: hospitalised, community illness with on-going symptoms (community-symptomatic), community illness now recovered (community-recovered) and comparison. A total of 113 participants (aged 39 ± 9, 86% male) were recruited: hospitalised (n = 35), community-symptomatic (n = 34), community-recovered (n = 18) and comparison (n = 26), approximately five months following acute illness. Participant outcome measures included cardiopulmonary imaging, submaximal and maximal exercise testing, pulmonary function, cognitive assessment, blood tests and questionnaires on mental health and function. Results: Hospitalised and community-symptomatic groups were older (43 ± 9 and 37 ± 10, P = 0.003), with a higher body mass index (31 ± 4 and 29 ± 4, P < 0.001), and had worse mental health (anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress), fatigue and quality of life scores. Hospitalised and community-symptomatic participants performed less well on sub-maximal and maximal exercise testing. Hospitalised individuals had impaired ventilatory efficiency (higher VE/V̇CO2 slope, 29.6 ± 5.1, P < 0.001), achieved less work at anaerobic threshold (70 ± 15, P < 0.001) and peak (231 ± 35, P < 0.001), and had a reduced forced vital capacity (4.7 ± 0.9, P = 0.004). Clinically significant abnormal cardiopulmonary imaging findings were present in 6% of hospitalised participants. Community-recovered individuals had no significant differences in outcomes to the comparison group. Conclusion: Symptomatically recovered individuals who suffered mild-moderate acute COVID-19 do not differ from an age-, sex- and job-role-matched comparison population five months post-illness. Background: Due to additional responsibilities and uncertainties during the COVID-19 pandemic, primary healthcare (PHC) workers are at increased risk of burnout. Aim: To determine and compare the burnout levels and related factors in PHC nurses and family physicians (FPs) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: An online survey was delivered to PHC workers. Non-random sampling method was used. To evaluate burnout, the Maslach Burnout Inventory was used, which investigates burnout in three categories: emotional exhaustion (EE), depersonalization (DP) and reduced personal accomplishment (PA). Multivariate linear regression was used to analyze factors associated with burnout for FPs and nurses separately. Findings: Among the participants, 55.7% were nurses, the mean age was 42.34. FPs and nurses experienced similar levels of burnout in terms of EE. Family physicians had higher levels of low PA and DP. Based on the results of the multivariate analysis, while higher EE levels were significantly associated with unequal distribution of workload and communication problems within the Family Health Center for physicians, the unequal distribution of PPE, lack of appreciation by patients or colleagues and restrictions on work-related rights were relevant factors for nurses. Lack of appreciation and restrictions of the rights were associated with increased DP scores in both groups. Unequal distribution of workload was also associated with reduced PA among FPs. Conclusion: PHC physicians and nurses are affected by burnout in different ways under the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic based on gender, socioeconomic status and working conditions. To protect the mental health of PHC workers in the next public health emergency, clarification in the organization of services, empowering PHC workers in emergency risk communication and provision of timely, adequate and free PPE is essential. Objective: The determination of nutritional knowledge and nutrition literacy among nursing students will enable nursing departments to establish the needs and solutions to enhance nutrition education in their education programs. Therefore, this study is aimed to evaluate the nutrition literacy and nutrition knowledge level of nursing students. Method: The study data were collected with 'Information Form', 'Anthropometric Measurements', 'Nutrition Knowledge Level Scale for Adults', and 'Evaluation Instrument of Nutrition Literacy on Adults'. Analyzes were performed using descriptive and nonparametric tests. Results: The score of nutrition knowledge is 56.6 ± 6.8 and 50.5% of them have a good nutrition knowledge level. The total nutrition literacy score is 28.6 ± 4.4 and 91.6% of them have a sufficient nutrition literacy level. It was no significant difference between students' characteristic features and nutrition knowledge score and nutrition literacy total score (p > 0.05). There was a statistically significant positive correlation between the nutrition knowledge score and the nutrition literacy total score and the nutrition literacy sub-sections scores (p < 0.05). Conclusion: It has been determined that the nutrition knowledge and nutrition literacy levels of nursing students correlated with each other. To improve students' nutrition knowledge levels, as well as to improve their nutrition literacy and prevent non-communicable diseases nutrition lessons should be included in the curriculum. Background: The clinical effects of Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19; BNT162b2) vaccine on the clinical course of chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is unclear. Aims and Objectives: To evaluate the clinical effects of BNT162b2 vaccine on the clinical course of CSU. Methods: In this study, 90 CSU patients vaccinated with one or two repeated doses of BNT162b2 vaccine were included. Urticaria Activity Score over 28 days (UAS28), Urticaria Control Test (UCT), Chronic Urticaria Quality of Life Questionnaire (CU-Q2oL), and Medication Scores (MSs) were obtained before the vaccination, 28 days after the first and, if available, after the second dose of BNT162b2 vaccine. The demographic, clinical, and laboratory features were compared between the subjects with exacerbated (group A) and non-exacerbated (group B) disease activity. Results: Among the 90 study participants, 14 (15.5%) experienced exacerbations in their urticarial activity after the first or repeated doses of BNT162b2 vaccinations. The demographic, clinical, and laboratory features were similar between the exacerbated and non-exacerbated CSU patients. However, the rate of adverse reactions within 48 hours, such as hives, injection site reactions and wheals lasting <1 hour, were significantly higher in group A than in group B (P = 0.004, P < 0.001, P = 0.001, P = 0.018). Conclusions: BNT162b2 vaccination caused an exacerbation in 15.5% of CSU patients during the short-term follow-up. The long-term evaluation can be informative about the lasting effects of BNT162b2 vaccine on the clinical course of CSU patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: Covid-19 vaccine hesitancy can be an obstacle to the global effort to control the current pandemic. The study aimed to test the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Oxford Covid-19 Vaccine Hesitancy Scale. Design: A methodological and descriptive study. Methods: The research was conducted as a methodological and descriptive study. The sample size consisted of 476 academics who voluntarily agreed to participate in the research and completed the online questionnaire between February and March 2021. Results: As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), the fit index values obtained by making two modifications of the one-dimensional Oxford Covid-19 Vaccine Hesitancy Scale were found to be χ2/df = 1.86; AGFI = 0.96; RMSEA = 0.04; GFI = 0.98; CFI = 0.99 and IFI = 0.99. The Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient of the scale was calculated as 0.95. Test-retest reliability coefficient of the scale was r = 0.93 (p < 0.001). Conclusion: It can be concluded that the Oxford Covid-19 Vaccine Hesitancy Scale, adapted to Turkish, is a valid and reliable measurement tool for determining hesitancy of Turkish society towards covid-19 vaccines. (1) Objective: We aimed to analyze and describe the management of acute biliary pancreatitis (ABP) during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. (2) Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study among patients with ABP during a control period (16 March 2019 to 15 March 2020; period 1) and a COVID-19 period (16 March 2020 to 15 March 2021; period 2). (3) Results: We included 89 patients with ABP, being 58 in period 1 and 31 in period 2. The mean patient age was 62.75 ± 16.59 years, and 51 (57.3%) patients were women. The Quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score for sepsis and World Society of Emergency Surgery Sepsis Severity Score were significantly higher among patients in period 2. Twenty-two patients (37.9%) in period 1 and six (19.3%) in period 2 underwent cholecystectomy. There were no significant differences in surgical interventions between the two periods. The hospital mortality rate was 3.4 and 19.3% in period 1 and period 2, respectively. Mortality was significantly higher in period 2. Conclusion: During the COVID-19 pandemic, we observed a significant reduction in the number of patients with ABP but increased severity and mortality. Objective: As the evidence has been increasing about the post-micturition dribble (PMD) symptom, widely accepted lower-urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) questionnaires fail to assess PMD alone. In this study, our primary aim was to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the hallym post micturition dribble questionnaire (HPMDQ). The secondary objective is to appraise the relationship between PMD and other LUTS and the effectiveness of bulbar urethral massage in patients with PMD. Materials and Methods: The final draft of the Turkish HPMDQ and International Prostate Symptome score (IPSS) were compared for male patients who were admitted to the urology outpatient clinic between June 2020 and September 2020. The responses of 103 patients were analysed. Fifty-five people being affected by PMD were offered bulbar urethral massage for one month and then re-applied with the questionnaires. Results: The kappa coefficient for the total score of the Turkish HPMDQ score was 0.789. Considering the relationship between the HPMDQ and the IPSS, the HPMDQ’s total score correlated significantly with that of the total IPSS (p=0.660, p<0.001), the voiding symptoms of the LUTS (p=0.621, p<0.001), and post-void residual volume (p=0.614, p<0.001) but not with the storage symptoms of the LUTS (p=0.245). The mean value of HPMDQ-Q5, evaluating the treatment response of bulbar urethra massage, was 1.81+1.02, suggesting an effective treatment of PMD. Conclusion: The Turkish version of HPMDQ was observed as a reliable tool for evaluating patients with PMD. This study also showed that bulbar urethral massage is an effective method to relieve PMD. Background: As vaccination against coronavirus disase-19 (COVID-19) evolves, hesitancy has become a problematic issue that has gradually spread worldwide. The main reason for vaccine hesitancy is uncertainties about vaccine side effects. Aims: To evaluate the safety of an inactivated COVID-19 vaccine, CoronaVac, and determine the risk factors of emergence of side effects. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: An online questionnaire was administered via the internet to healthcare workers who received one or two doses of CoronaVac. The online survey consisted of three sections detailing sociodemographic data, COVID-19 history, and post-vaccine side effects. Side effects that occurred in the period starting from immediately after the first vaccination to the end of the 14th day after the second vaccination were recorded. Results: A total of 1628 healthcare workers responded to the online survey. Of these, 24.3% had a side effect either after the first or second dose of CoronaVac. Redness and/or pain at the inoculation site, headache, muscle and joint pains, palpitations, and dizziness were the most common side effects. Female sex, age <50 years, and thyroid disorder in the pre-vaccine period were found to be risk factors for the emergence of side effects. Blood pressure control could not be achieved in 2.2% of participants despite medication use, and permanent medication was needed in 2.5% of participants for blood pressure control. Conclusion: Almost a quarter of healthcare workers have at least one side effect after the first or second dose of CoronaVac. Background: During a pandemic, one of the vital members of healthcare teams are nurses. Since nurses are in close contact with people with COVID-19, they are in the chain of infection transmission. It is important for student nurses to maintain their health while providing care services in line with their responsibilities during the pandemic Aim: This descriptive study was carried out to identify the difficulties that nursing students may experience while caring for a patient with COVID-19 diagnosis and the ethical problems they may encounter. Method: Students were informed about the purpose of the study and after their consent was obtained, the study was conducted with 195 students who accepted to participate. The questionnaire used in the study was prepared by the researchers after conducting literature study. Results: The average age of the participants was 21.81 ± 1.93. While caring for patients with COVID-19, almost all of the participants, 92.8% will not have difficulty in keeping the patient information confidential, %86.7 is not afraid of being stigmatized, 78.5% believe that teamwork is important and 92.3 % will receive consent from the patient during the care process. Conclusions: Almost all of the student nurses indicated that they do not intend to leave the profession during the pandemic process and can provide care without discrimination. Objective: This descriptive cross-sectional study aims to determine the knowledge and opinions of the healthcare professionals (physicians, nurses, midwives, and health officers) working in pediatric-neonatal clinics and intensive care units about meningococcemia, rotavirus, and human papillomavirus (HPV) infections/vaccines. Methodology: The sample of this descriptive cross-sectional study was composed of the healthcare professionals working in pediatric/neonatal clinics of the three university hospitals located in different cities of Turkey. Data were collected with a 33 questions survey prepared by the researchers. The significance was accepted to be at the level of p<0.05. Results: A total of 222 individuals, including nurses (68.0%), physicians (26.1%), midwives (3.2%), and health officers (2.7%), participated in the study. The mean score of the healthcare professionals' knowledge about invasive meningococcal disease, rotavirus, and HPV vaccines was 16.73±4.93. When comparing the mean scores in terms of educational status, the mean scores of those having a doctoral degree were statistically significantly higher (p<0.05). 86.5% of the healthcare professionals thought that the rotavirus (86.5%), meningococcal (90.5%), and HPV vaccine (75.2%) should be included in the national vaccination schedule. Conclusions: Consequently, the healthcare professionals had a lack of knowledge about invasive meningococcal disease, rotavirus, and HPV vaccines, but they believed that these three vaccines should be included in the national vaccination schedule.
