The use of antioxidants could thus prove an effective medication to prevent or facilitate recovery from oxidative stress-induced sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). One promising strategy to prevent SNHL is developing probucol (PB)-based nanoparticles using encapsulation technology and administering them to the inner ear via the established intratympanic route. The preclinical, clinical and epidemiological studies support that PB is a proven antioxidant that could effectively prevent oxidative stress in different study models. Such findings suggest its applicability in preventing oxidative stress within the inner ear and its associated neural cells. However, several hurdles, such as overcoming the blood-labyrinth barrier, ensuring sustained release, minimising systemic side effects and optimising targeted delivery in the intricate inner ear structures, must be overcome to efficiently deliver PB to the inner ear. This review explores the background and pathogenesis of hearing loss, the potential of PB in treating oxidative stress and its cellular mechanisms, and the obstacles linked to inner ear drug delivery for effectively introducing PB to the inner ear. Chronic musculoskeletal pain is a health burden that may accelerate the aging process. Accelerated brain aging and epigenetic aging have separately been observed in those with chronic pain. However, it is unknown whether these biological markers of aging are associated with each other in those with chronic pain. We aimed to explore the association of epigenetic aging and brain aging in middle-to-older age individuals with varying degrees of knee pain. Participants (57.91 ± 8.04 y) with low impact knee pain (n = 95), high impact knee pain (n = 53), and pain-free controls (n = 26) completed self-reported pain, a blood draw, and an MRI scan. We used an epigenetic clock previously associated with knee pain (DNAmGrimAge), the subsequent difference of predicted epigenetic and brain age from chronological age (DNAmGrimAge-Difference and Brain-PAD, respectively). There was a significant main effect for pain impact group (F (2,167) = 3.847, P = 0.023, ηp² = 0.038, ANCOVA) on Brain-PAD and DNAmGrimAgedifference (F (2,167) = 6.800, P = 0.001, ηp² = 0.075, ANCOVA) after controlling for covariates. DNAmGrimAge-Difference and Brain-PAD were modestly correlated (r =0.198; P =0.010). Exploratory analysis revealed that DNAmGrimAge-difference mediated GCPS pain impact, GCPS pain severity, and pain-related disability scores on Brain-PAD. This study examines the relationship between household compositional change and residential mobility of subsidized householders. Data from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Annual Longitudinal Files 2005–2018 is used to measure household compositional change and mobility for subsidized householders in the Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher programs. Householders are 67% more likely to move when a change in household composition occurs. Members entering the household induce larger estimated mobility effects than members exiting the household. Although the odds that a householder move are associated with a household compositional change is greatest in the Housing Choice Voucher program for tenant-based vouchers, there is still a strong association with household compositional changes and mobility in Public Housing and for project-based voucher units where options for mobility are limited.
