Aims: This article aims to perform a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to better understand the structures of different methods, techniques, models, methodologies, and technologies related to provenance data management in health information systems (HISs). The SLR developed here seeks to answer the questions that contribute to describing the results. Method: An SLR was performed on six databases using a search string. The backward and forward snowballing technique was also used. Eligible studies were all articles in English that presented on the use of different methods, techniques, models, methodologies, and technologies related to provenance data management in HISs. The quality of the included articles was assessed to obtain a better connection to the topic studied. Results: Of the 239 studies retrieved, 14 met the inclusion criteria described in this SLR. In order to complement the retrieved studies, 3 studies were included using the backward and forward snowballing technique, totaling 17 studies dedicated to the construction of this research. Most of the selected studies were published as conference papers, which is common when involving computer science in HISs. There was a more frequent use of data provenance models from the PROV family in different HISs combined with different technologies, among which blockchain and middleware stand out. Despite the advantages found, the lack of technological structure, data interoperability problems, and the technical unpreparedness of working professionals are still challenges encountered in the management of provenance data in HISs. Conclusion: It was possible to conclude the existence of different methods, techniques, models, and combined technologies, which are presented in the proposal of a taxonomy that provides researchers with a new understanding about the management of provenance data in HISs. Buildings are complex structures composed of heterogeneous elements; these require building management systems (BMSs) to dynamically adapt them to occupants' needs and leverage building resources. The fast growth of information and communication technologies (ICTs) has transformed the BMS field into a multidisciplinary one. Consequently, this has caused several research papers on data-driven solutions to require examination and classification. This paper provides a broad overview of BMS by conducting a systematic literature review (SLR) summarizing current trends in this field. Unlike similar reviews, this SLR provides a rigorous methodology to review current research from a computer science perspective. Therefore, our goal is four-fold: (i) Identify the main topics in the field of building; (ii) Identify the recent data-driven methods; (iii) Understand the BMS's underlying computing architecture (iv) Understand the features of BMS that contribute to the smartization of buildings. Continuous improvement in the clinical performance of neonatal intensive care units (NICU) depends on the use of locally relevant, reliable data. However, neonatal databases with these characteristics are typically unavailable in NICUs using paper-based records, while in those using electronic records, the inaccuracy of data and the inability to customize commercial data systems limit their usability for quality improvement or research purposes. We describe the characteristics and uses of a simple, neonatologist-centered data system that has been successfully maintained for 30 years, with minimal resources and serving multiple purposes, including quality improvement, administrative, research support and educational functions. Structurally, our system comprises customized paper and electronic components, while key functional aspects include the attending-based recording of diagnoses, integration into clinical workflows, multilevel data accuracy and validation checks, and periodic reporting on both data quality and NICU performance results. We provide examples of data validation methods and trends observed over three decades, and discuss essential elements for the successful implementation of this system. This database is reliable and easily maintained; it can be developed from simple paper-based forms or used to supplement the functionality and end-user customizability of existing electronic medical records. Statistical information theory is a method for quantifying the amount of stochastic uncertainty in a system. This theory originated in communication theory. The application of information theoretic approaches has been extended to different fields. This paper aims to perform a bibliometric analysis of information theoretic publications listed on the Scopus database. The data of 3701 documents were extracted from the Scopus database. The software used for analysis includes Harzing's Publish or Perish and VOSviewer. Results including publication growth, subject areas, geographical contributions, country co-authorship, most cited publications, keyword co-occurrence analysis, and citation metrics are presented in this paper. Publication growth has been steady since 2003. The United States has the highest number of publications and received more than half of the total citations from all 3701 publications. Most of the publications are in computer science, engineering, and mathematics. The United States, the United Kingdom, and China have the highest collaboration across countries. The focus on information theoretic is slowly shifting from mathematical models to technology-driven applications such as machine learning and robotics. This study highlights the trends and developments of information theoretic publications, which helps researchers to understand the state of the art of information theoretic approaches for future contributions in this research domain. In this paper, we propose a method to aid authors in choosing alternative keywords that help their papers gain visibility. These alternative keywords must have a certain level of popularity in the scientific community and, simultaneously, be keywords with fewer competitors. The competitors are derived from other papers containing the same keywords. Having fewer competitors would allow an author's paper to have a higher consult frequency. In order to recommend keywords, we must first determine an attention–survival score. The attention score is obtained using the popularity of a keyword. The survival score is derived from the number of manuscripts using the same keyword. With these two scores, we created a new algorithm that finds alternative keywords with a high attention–survival score. We used ontologies to ensure that alternative keywords proposed by our method are semantically related to the original authors' keywords that they wish to refine. The hierarchical structure in an ontology supports the relationship between the alternative and input keywords. To test the sensibility of the ontology, we used two sources: WordNet and the Computer Science Ontology (CSO). Finally, we launched a survey for the human validation of our algorithm using keywords from Web of Science papers and three ontologies: WordNet, CSO, and DBpedia. Researchers have proposed different obfuscation transformations supported by numerous smartphone protection tools (obfuscators and deobfuscators). However, there is a need for a comprehensive study to empirically characterize these tools that belong to different categories of transformations. We propose a property-based framework to systematically classify twenty cutting-edge tools according to their features, analysis type, programming language support, licensing, applied obfuscation transformations, and general technical drawbacks. Our analysis predominantly reveals that very few tools work at the dynamic level, and most tools (which are static-based) work for Java or Java-based ecosystems (e.g., Android). The findings also show that the widespread adoption of renaming transformations is followed by formatting and code injection. In addition, this paper pinpoints the technical shortcomings of each tool; some of these drawbacks are common in static-based analyzers (e.g., resource consumption), and other drawbacks have negative effects on the experiment conducted by students (e.g., a third-party library involved). According to these critical limitations, we provide some timely recommendations for further research. This study can assist not only Android developers and researchers to improve the overall health of their apps but also the managers of computer science and cybersecurity academic programs to embed suitable obfuscation tools in their curricula. This paper investigates the evolving landscape of blockchain technology in renewable energy. The study, based on a Scopus database search on 21 February 2024, reveals a growing trend in scholarly output, predominantly in engineering, energy, and computer science. The diverse range of source types and global contributions, led by China, reflects the interdisciplinary nature of this field. This comprehensive review delves into 33 research papers, examining the integration of blockchain in renewable energy systems, encompassing decentralized power dispatching, certificate trading, alternative energy selection, and management in applications like intelligent transportation systems and microgrids. The papers employ theoretical concepts such as decentralized power dispatching models and permissioned blockchains, utilizing methodologies involving advanced algorithms, consensus mechanisms, and smart contracts to enhance efficiency, security, and transparency. The findings suggest that blockchain integration can reduce costs, increase renewable source utilization, and optimize energy management. Despite these advantages, challenges including uncertainties, privacy concerns, scalability issues, and energy consumption are identified, alongside legal and regulatory compliance and market acceptance hurdles. Overcoming resistance to change and building trust in blockchain-based systems are crucial for successful adoption, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts among industry stakeholders, regulators, and technology developers to unlock the full potential of blockchains in renewable energy integration. This paper explores the concept of zip quines, which are zip files that contain themselves upon extraction, extending the idea of computational self-reference. While only two individuals, Russ Cox and Erling Ellingsen, have created such entities, this study focuses on Cox's method to develop a generator for these files. Overcoming the initial limitations, the generator allows for the inclusion of additional files within the zip quine. Additionally, this research explores the concept of looped zip files, wherein a zip archive contains another archive. This archive then contains the initial zip file. Graph theory is a crucial branch of mathematics in fields like network analysis, molecular chemistry, and computer science, where it models complex relationships and structures. Many indices are used to capture the specific nuances in these structures. In this paper, we propose a new index, the weighted asymmetry index, a graph-theoretic metric quantifying the asymmetry in a network using the distances of the vertices connected by an edge. This index measures how uneven the distances from each vertex to the rest of the graph are when considering the contribution of each edge. We show how the index can capture the intrinsic asymmetries in diverse networks and is an important tool for applications in network analysis, optimization problems, social networks, chemical graph theory, and modeling complex systems. We first identify its extreme values and describe the corresponding extremal trees. We also give explicit formulas for the weighted asymmetry index for path, star, complete bipartite, complete tripartite, generalized star, and wheel graphs. At the end, we propose some open problems. In this paper, I take the cultural effects of generative artificial intelligence (generative AI) as a context for examining a broader perspective of AI's impact on contemporary art notions. After the introductory overview of generative AI, I summarize the distinct but often confused aspects of art notions and review the principal lines in which AI influences them: the strategic normalization of AI through art, the representation of AI art in the artworld, academia, and AI research, and the mutual permeability of art and kitsch in the digital culture. I connect these notional factors with the conceptual and ideological substrate of the computer science and AI industry, which blends the machinic agency fetishism, the equalization of computers and humans, the sociotechnical blindness, and cyberlibertarianism. The overtones of alienation, sociopathy, and misanthropy in the disparate but somehow coalescing philosophical premises, technical ideas, and political views in this substrate remain underexposed in AI studies so, in the closing discussion, I outline their manifestations in generative AI and introduce several viewpoints for a further critique of AI's cultural zeitgeist. They add a touch of skepticism to pondering how technological trends change our understanding of art and in which directions they stir its social, economic, and political roles. The study of linguistics applied to computer science is a much-discussed topic today. In this area, particularly relevant is the software localization process describing the linguistic and cultural adaptation of software products to a specific market scenario. Software localization is going through a phase of strong development due to the great market demand and the current trend of making the computer more human-like in the way it interacts with the user. This paper focuses on "linguistic" localization by addressing the language translation process from the perspective of translation studies. In particular, the process of translating the language assets in a game and making the game linguistically and culturally appropriate for the target market will be explored. The study provides a systematic literature review of the main localization methods developed over the last four decades, along with the major issues and challenges mainly related to the main linguistic and cultural aspects of videogames. The review results are integrated with the results of a qualitative analysis conducted through a focus group with the participation of both academic and professional experts in software and videogame localization. The results of this study are worthwhile for many academics and industry professionals as they provide an in-depth overview of the localization process in software and videogames as well as potential directions for future research. Dual generalized commutative quaternions have broad application prospects in many fields. Additionally, the matrix equation A X B = C has important applications in mathematics and engineering, especially in control systems, economics, computer science, and other disciplines. However, research on the matrix equation A X B = C over the dual generalized commutative quaternions remains relatively insufficient. In this paper, we derive the necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvability of the dual generalized commutative quaternion matrix equation A X B = C . Furthermore, we provide the general solution expression for this matrix equation, when it is solvable. Swarm algorithms offer a promising framework for coordinating fleets of drones to collaboratively monitor and analyze air pollution sources. The unique capabilities of drones, including their agility, accessibility, and versatility, make them ideal candidates for aerial data collection. When harnessed in a swarm, these drones can create a dynamic and adaptable network that provides a more comprehensive and fine-grained understanding of air pollution dynamics. Neuronal models have remained an important area of research in computer science. The dendritic neuron model (DNM) is a novel neuronal model in recent years. Previous studies have focused on training DNM using more appropriate algorithms. This paper proposes an improvement to DNM based on the activity of excitation and proposes three new models. Each of the three improved models are designed to mimic the excitation and inhibition activity of neurons. The improved model proposed in this paper is shown to be effective in the experimental part. All three models and original DNM have their own strengths, so it can be considered that the new model proposed in this paper well enriches the diversity of neuronal models and contributes to future research on networks models. Plant phenotyping studies the complex characteristics of plants, with the aim of evaluating and assessing their condition and finding better exemplars. Recently, a new branch emerged in the phenotyping field, namely, high-throughput phenotyping (HTP). Specifically, HTP exploits modern data sampling techniques to gather a high amount of data that can be used to improve the effectiveness of phenotyping. Hence, HTP combines the knowledge derived from the phenotyping domain with computer science, engineering, and data analysis techniques. In this scenario, machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) algorithms have been successfully integrated with noninvasive imaging techniques, playing a key role in automation, standardization, and quantitative data analysis. This study aims to systematically review two main areas of interest for HTP: hardware and software. For each of these areas, two influential factors were identified: for hardware, platforms and sensing equipment were analyzed; for software, the focus was on algorithms and new trends. The study was conducted following the PRISMA protocol, which allowed the refinement of the research on a wide selection of papers by extracting a meaningful dataset of 32 articles of interest. The analysis highlighted the diffusion of ground platforms, which were used in about 47% of reviewed methods, and RGB sensors, mainly due to their competitive costs, high compatibility, and versatility. Furthermore, DL-based algorithms accounted for the larger share (about 69%) of reviewed approaches, mainly due to their effectiveness and the focus posed by the scientific community over the last few years. Future research will focus on improving DL models to better handle hardware-generated data. Fractional programming (FP) refers to a family of optimization problems whose objective function is a ratio of two functions. FP has been studied extensively in economics, management science, information theory, optic and graph theory, communication, and computer science, etc. This paper presents a bibliometric review of the FP-related publications over the past five decades in order to track research outputs and scholarly trends in the field. The reviews are conducted through the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED) database of the Web of Science Core Collection (Clarivate Analytics). Based on the bibliometric analysis of 1811 documents, various theme-related research indicators were described, such as the most prominent authors, the most commonly cited papers, journals, institutions, and countries. Background: The IoT and big data are newer technologies that can provide substantial support for healthcare systems, helping them overcome their shortcomings. The aim of this paper was to analyze the relevant literature descriptively, thematically, and chronologically from an interdisciplinary perspective in a holistic way to identify the most prolific research entities and themes. Methods: Synthetic knowledge synthesis qualitatively and quantitatively analyzes the production of literature through a combination of descriptive bibliometrics, bibliometric mapping, and content analysis. For this analysis, the Scopus bibliometric database was used. Results: In the Scopus database, 2272 publications were found; these were published between 1985 and 10 June 2024. The first article in this field was published in 1985. Until 2012, the production of such literature was steadily increasing; after that, exponential growth began, peaking in 2023. The most productive countries were the United States, India, China, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Germany, and Italy. The content analysis resulted in eight themes (four from the perspective of computer science and four from the perspective of medicine) and 21 thematic concepts (8 from the perspective of computer science and 13 from the perspective of medicine). Conclusions: The results show that the IoT and big data have become key technologies employed in preventive healthcare. Data structures such as sets, lists, and arrays are fundamental in mathematics and computer science, playing a crucial role in numerous real-life applications. These structures represent a variety of entities, including solutions, conditions, and objectives. In scenarios involving large datasets, eliminating duplicate elements is essential to reduce complexity and enhance performance. This paper introduces a novel algorithm that uses logarithmic prime numbers to efficiently sort data structures and remove duplicates. The algorithm is mathematically rigorous, ensuring correctness and providing a thorough analysis of its time complexity. To demonstrate its practicality and effectiveness, we compare our method with existing algorithms, highlighting its superior speed and accuracy. An extensive experimental analysis across one thousand random test problems shows that our approach significantly outperforms two alternative techniques from the literature. By discussing the potential applications of the proposed algorithm in various domains, including computer science, engineering, and data management, we illustrate its adaptability through two practical examples in which our algorithm solves the problem more than 3 × 10 4 and 7 × 10 4 times faster than the existing algorithms in the literature. This paper presents a comprehensive survey of knowledge graphs in education. It covers the patterns and prospects of research in this area. A total of 48 relevant publications between 2011 and 2023 were collected from the Web of Science, Scopus, and ProQuest for review. The findings reveal a sharp increase in recent years in the body of research into educational knowledge graphs which was mainly conducted from institutions in China. Most of the relevant research work adopted a quantitative method, such as performance evaluation, user surveys, and controlled experiments, to assess the effectiveness of knowledge graph approaches. The findings also suggest that knowledge graph approaches were primarily researched and implemented in higher education institutions, with a focus on computer science, mathematics, and engineering. The most frequently addressed objectives included enhancing knowledge representation and providing personal learning recommendations, and the most common applications were concept instruction and educational recommendations. Diverse data resources, such as course materials, student learning behaviours, and online encyclopaedia, were processed to implement knowledge graph approaches in different scenarios. Relevant technical means employed for the implementation of knowledge graphs dealt with the purposes of building knowledge ontology, achieving recommendations, and creating knowledge graphs. Various pedagogies such as personalised learning and collaborative learning are supported by the knowledge graph approaches. The findings also identified key limitations in the relevant work, including insufficient information for knowledge graph construction, difficulty in extending applications across subject areas, the restricted scale and scope of data resources, and the lack of comprehensive user feedback and evaluation processes. With the development of science and computer technology, social networks are changing our daily lives. However, this leads to new, often hidden dangers in areas such as cybersecurity. Of these, the most complex and harmful is the Advanced Persistent Threat attack (APT attack). The development of personality analysis and prediction technology provides the APT attack a good opportunity to infiltrate personality privacy. Malicious people can exploit existing personality classifiers to attack social texts and steal users' personal information. Therefore, it is of high importance to hide personal privacy information in social texts. Based on the personality privacy protection technology of adversarial examples, we proposed a Supervised Character Resemble Substitution personality adversarial method (SCRS) in this paper, which hides personality information in social texts through adversarial examples to realize personality privacy protection. The adversarial examples should be capable of successfully disturbing the personality classifier while maintaining the original semantics without reducing human readability. Therefore, this paper proposes a measure index of "label contribution" to select the words that are important to the label. At the same time, in order to maintain higher readability, this paper uses character-level resemble substitution to generate adversarial examples. With the development of computer science technology, theory and method of image segmentation are widely used in fish discrimination, which plays an important role in improving the efficiency of fisheries sorting and biodiversity studying. However, the existing methods of fish images segmentation are less accurate and inefficient, which is worthy of in-depth exploration. Therefore, this paper proposes an atrous pyramid GAN segmentation network aimed at increasing accuracy and efficiency. This paper introduces an atrous pyramid structure, and the GAN module is added before the CNN backbone in order to augment the dataset. The Atrous pyramid structure first fuses the input and output of the dilated convolutional layer with a small sampling rate and then feeds the fused features into the subsequent dilated convolutional layer with a large sampling rate to obtain dense multiscale contextual information. Thus, by capturing richer contextual information, this structure improves the accuracy of segmentation results. In addition to the aforementioned innovation, various data enhancement methods, such as MixUp, Mosaic, CutMix, and CutOut, are used in this paper to enhance the model's robustness. This paper also improves the loss function and uses the label smoothing method to prevent model overfitting. The improvement is also tested by extensive ablation experiments. As a result, our model's F1-score, GA, and MIoU were tested on the validation dataset, reaching 0.961, 0.981, and 0.973, respectively. This experimental result demonstrates that the proposed model outperforms all the other contrast models. Moreover, in order to accelerate the deployment of the encapsulated model on hardware, this paper optimizes the execution time of the matrix multiplication method on Hbird E203 based on Strassen's algorithm to ensure the efficient operation of the model on this hardware platform. It involves representing spatial data in various ways, such as maps, animations, and interactive configurations, to explore relationships, patterns, and trends related to geographic entities and phenomena. The new way of thinking science from Newtonian determinism to nonlinear unpredictability and the dawn of advanced computer science and technology can be summarized in the words of the theoretical physicist Michel Baranger, who, in 2000, said in a conference: "Twenty-first-century theoretical physics is coming out of the chaos revolution; it will be about complexity and its principal tool will be the computer.". This can be extended to natural sciences in general. Modelling and predicting ionosphere variables have been considered since many decades as a paramount objective of research by scientists and engineers. The new approach to natural sciences influenced also ionosphere research. Ionosphere as a part of the solar–terrestrial environment is recognized to be a complex chaotic system, and its study under this new way of thinking should become an important area of ionospheric research. After discussing the new context, this paper will try to review recent advances in the exploration of ionosphere parameter time series in terms of chaos theory and the use of machine-learning algorithms. Road crack detection is an important indicator of road detection. In real life, it is very meaningful work to detect road cracks. With the rapid development of science and technology, especially computer science and technology, quite a lot of methods have been applied to crack detection. Traditional detection methods rely on manual identification, which is inefficient and prone to errors. In addition, the commonly used image processing methods are affected by many factors, such as illumination, road stains, etc., so the results are unstable. In the research on pavement crack detection, many research studies mainly focus on the recognition and classification of cracks, lacking the analysis of the specific characteristics of cracks, and the feature values of cracks cannot be measured. Starting from the deep learning method in computer science and technology, this paper proposes a road crack detection technology based on deep learning. It relies on a new deep dictionary learning and encoding network DDLCN, establishes a new activation function MeLU, and adopts a new differentiable calculation method. The technology relies on the traditional Mask-RCNN algorithm and is implemented after improvement. In the comparison of evaluation indicators, the values of recall, precision, and F1-score reflect certain superiority. In recent years, social networks have developed rapidly and have become the main platform for the release and dissemination of fake news. The research on fake news detection has attracted extensive attention in the field of computer science. Fake news detection technology has made many breakthroughs recently, but many challenges remain. Although there are some review papers on fake news detection, a more detailed picture for carrying out a comprehensive review is presented in this paper. The concepts related to fake news detection, including fundamental theory, feature type, detection technique and detection approach, are introduced. Specifically, through extensive investigation and complex organization, a classification method for fake news detection is proposed. The datasets of fake news detection in different fields are also compared and analyzed. Recently, the spread of fake images on social media platforms has become a significant concern for individuals, organizations, and governments. These images are often created using sophisticated techniques to spread misinformation, influence public opinion, and threaten national security. This paper begins by defining fake images and their potential impact on society, including the spread of misinformation and the erosion of trust in digital media. This paper also examines the different types of fake images and their challenges for detection. We then review the recent approaches proposed for detecting fake images, including digital forensics, machine learning, and deep learning. This paper explores the computational challenges of clique transversal problems in d-degenerate graphs, which are commonly encountered across theoretical computer science and various network applications. We examine d-degenerate graphs to highlight their utility in representing sparse structures and assess several variations of clique transversal problems, including the b-fold and { b } -clique transversal problems, focusing on their computational complexities for different graph categories. Our analysis identifies that certain instances of these problems are polynomial-time solvable in specific graph classes, such as 1-degenerate or 2-degenerate graphs. However, for d-degenerate graphs where d ≥ 2 , these problems generally escalate to NP-completeness. Electricity theft comes with various disadvantages for power utilities, governments, businesses, and the general public. This continues despite the various solutions employed to detect and prevent it. Some of the disadvantages of electricity theft include revenue loss and load shedding, leading to a disruption in business operations. This study aimed to conduct a systematic literature review to identify what technology solutions have been offered to solve electricity theft and the effectiveness of those solutions by considering peer-reviewed empirical studies. The systematic literature review was undertaken following the guidelines for conducting a literature review in computer science to assess potential bias. A total of 11 journal articles published from 2012 to 2022 in SCOPUS, Science Direct, and Web of Science were analysed to reveal solutions, the type of theft addressed, and the success and limitations of the solutions. The findings show that the focus in research is channelled towards solving electricity theft in Smart Grids (SGs) and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI); moreover, there is a neglect in the recent literature on finding solutions that can prevent electricity theft in countries that do not have SG and AMI installed. Although the results reported in this study are confined to the analysed research papers, the leading limitation in the selected studies, lack of real-life data for dishonest users. The main purpose of this study is to examine the implementation of active methodologies in the teaching–learning process in computer science. To achieve this objective, a systematic review using the PRISMA method was performed; the search for articles was conducted through the Scopus and Web of Science databases and the scientific search engine Google Scholar. By establishing inclusion and exclusion criteria, 15 research papers were selected addressing the use of various active methodologies which have had a positive impact on students' learning processes. Among the principal active methodologies highlighted are problem-based learning, flipped classrooms, and gamification. The results of the review show how active methodologies promote significant learning, in addition to fostering more outstanding commitment, participation, and motivation on the students' part. Searching over a sorted list is a classical problem in computer science. Binary Search takes at most log 2 ⁡ n + 1 tries to find an item in a sorted list of size n. Interpolation Search achieves an average time complexity of O (log ⁡ log ⁡ n ) for uniformly distributed data. Hybrids of Binary Search and Interpolation Search are also available to handle data with unknown distributions. This paper analyzes the computation cost of these methods and shows that interpolation can significantly affect their performance—accordingly, a new method, Interpolation Once Binary Search (IOBS), is proposed. There is a nationwide effort to increase the representation and engagement of minoritized students in computer science education. Discourse about the barriers to diversity among computer science majors is often characterized by student pathologies and does not consider the impacts of classroom culture and instructor pedagogies. Amid the push for strategies to recruit and retain minoritized students in computer science, little has been done to transform curriculum and analyze faculty perspectives on curriculum and pedagogy as methods to increase students' access to the computer science major. This paper presents an example of curriculum redesign for an undergraduate introductory computer science course (ICS) that sought to address issues of inequitable representation by centering student identities and redistributing power in favor of students. The authors draw upon critical sociocultural and the 4Es heuristic for disciplinary literacy to reimagine the ICS course as a space that centers on the important roles of identity and power in solving for diversity in computer science education. We highlight for researchers and practitioners how our work may be used to disrupt meritocratic practices that alienate minoritized and economically disadvantaged students and to expand definitions of mastery and expertise in computer science education. The ordered weighted averaging (OWA) operator was proposed by Yager back in 1988 and constitutes a parameterized family of aggregation functions between the minimum and the maximum. The purpose of this paper is to perform a bibliometric review of this aggregation operator during the last 35 years through the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection database and the Visualization of Similarities (VOS) viewer software. The results show that the OWA operator is an increasingly popular aggregation operator, especially in Computer Science. The results also allow the assertion that Yager, as expected, is still the most influential and productive author. Moreover, the study reveals that institutions from over 80 countries have contributed to OWA research, highlighting the high presence of Chinese universities and the emergence of Pakistani ones. Researchers in cognitive science have long been interested in modeling human perception using statistical methods. This requires maneuvers because these multiple dimensional data are always intertwined with complex inner structures. The previous studies in cognitive sciences commonly applied principal component analysis (PCA) to truncate data dimensions when dealing with data with multiple dimensions. This is not necessarily because of its merit in terms of mathematical algorithm, but partly because it is easy to conduct with commonly accessible statistical software. On the other hand, dimension reduction might not be the best analysis when modeling data with no more than 20 dimensions. Using state-of-the-art techniques, researchers in various research disciplines (e.g., computer vision) classified data with more than hundreds of dimensions with neural networks and revealed the inner structure of the data. In computer science, and especially in computer vision, the contour of an object is used to describe its features; thus, the shape descriptor plays an indispensable role in target detection and recognition. Further, Fourier is an important mathematical description method, and the Fourier transform of a shape contour has symmetry. This paper will demonstrate the symmetry of shape contour in the frequency domain. In recent years, increasing numbers of shape descriptors have come to the fore, but many descriptors ignore the details of shape. It is found that the most fundamental reason affecting the performance of shape descriptors is structural restraints, especially feature structure restraint. Therefore, in this paper, the restraint of feature structure that intrinsically deteriorates recognition performance is shown, and a fast shape recognition method via the Bone Point Segment (BPS) restraint reduction is proposed. An approach using the inner distance to find bone shapes and segment the shape contour by these bones is proposed. Then, Fourier transform is performed on each segment to form the shape feature. Finally, the restraints of the shape feature are reduced in order to build a more effective shape feature. What is commendable is that its discriminability and robustness is strong, the process is simple, and matching speed is fast. More importantly, the experiment results show that the shape descriptor has higher recognition accuracy and the matching speed runs up to more than 1000 times faster than the existing description methods like CBW and TCD. The paper presents a new algorithm for reflection symmetry detection, which is specialized to detect maximal symmetric patterns in an Earth observation (EO) dataset. First, we stress the particularities that make symmetry detection in EO data different from detection in other geometric sets. The EO data acquisition cannot provide exact pairs of symmetric elements and, therefore, the approximate symmetry must be addressed, which is accomplished by voxelization. Besides this, the EO data symmetric patterns in the top view usually contain the most useful information for further processing and, thus, it suffices to detect symmetries with vertical symmetry planes. The algorithm first extracts the so-called interesting voxels and then finds symmetric pairs of line segments, separately for each horizontal voxel slice. The results with the same symmetry plane are then merged, first in individual slices and then through all the slices. The detected maximal symmetric patterns represent the so-called partial symmetries, which can be further processed to identify global and local symmetries. LiDAR datasets of six urban and natural attractions in Slovenia of different scales and in different voxel resolutions were analyzed in this paper, demonstrating high detection speed and quality of solutions. The capabilities of autonomous mobile robotic systems have been steadily improving due to recent advancements in computer science, engineering, and related disciplines such as cognitive science. In controlled environments, robots have achieved relatively high levels of autonomy. In more unstructured environments, however, the development of fully autonomous mobile robots remains challenging due to the complexity of understanding these environments. Many autonomous mobile robots use classical, learning-based or hybrid approaches for navigation. More recent learning-based methods may replace the complete navigation pipeline or selected stages of the classical approach. For effective deployment, autonomous robots must understand their external environments at a sophisticated level according to their intended applications. Therefore, in addition to robot perception, scene analysis and higher-level scene understanding (e.g., traversable/non-traversable, rough or smooth terrain, etc.) are required for autonomous robot navigation in unstructured outdoor environments. This paper provides a comprehensive review and critical analysis of these methods in the context of their applications to the problems of robot perception and scene understanding in unstructured environments and the related problems of localisation, environment mapping and path planning. State-of-the-art sensor fusion methods and multimodal scene understanding approaches are also discussed and evaluated within this context. The paper concludes with an in-depth discussion regarding the current state of the autonomous ground robot navigation challenge in unstructured outdoor environments and the most promising future research directions to overcome these challenges. Emotion analysis is the key technology in human–computer emotional interaction and has gradually become a research hotspot in the field of artificial intelligence. The key problems of emotion analysis based on EEG are feature extraction and classifier design. The existing methods of emotion analysis mainly use machine learning and rely on manually extracted features. As an end-to-end method, deep learning can automatically extract EEG features and classify them. However, most of the deep learning models of emotion recognition based on EEG still need manual screening and data pre-processing, and the accuracy and convenience are not high enough. Therefore, this paper proposes a CNN-Bi-LSTM-Attention model to automatically extract the features and classify emotions based on EEG signals. The original EEG data are used as input, a CNN and a Bi-LSTM network are used for feature extraction and fusion, and then the electrode channel weights are balanced through the attention mechanism layer. Finally, the EEG signals are classified to different kinds of emotions. An emotion classification experiment based on EEG is conducted on the SEED dataset to evaluate the performance of the proposed model. The experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper can effectively classify EEG emotions. The method was assessed on two distinctive classification tasks, one with three and one with four target classes. The average ten-fold cross-validation classification accuracy of this method is 99.55% and 99.79%, respectively, corresponding to three and four classification tasks, which is significantly better than the other methods. It can be concluded that our method is superior to the existing methods in emotion recognition, which can be widely used in many fields, including modern neuroscience, psychology, neural engineering, and computer science as well. The Hook model is used in digital products to engage and retain users through the mechanism of habit formation. This paper explores the use of Hook model techniques in two mobile applications, one being a popular taxi service (Uber taxi) and the other a social network (Instagram). The goal of this paper is to explore the Hook cycle patterns in the two products, and to identify commonalities and differences in how they are applied. Our results suggest that Hook cycle patterns appear with similar frequency; however, Instagram includes more internal Trigger calls. Uber uses fewer triggers to encourage usage, most probably because users already have a specific need for the application. For the same reason, Uber has less opportunity to fail in the reward delivery, while Instagram can use the failure (in providing a reward) as another trigger if the usage habit is already established. In addition, we introduce two types of Hook cycle patterns: internal (within a single use case) and external (transition between use cases). Can free agency be compatible with determinism? Compatibilists argue that the answer is yes, and it has been suggested that the computer science principle of "computational irreducibility" sheds light on this compatibility. It implies that there cannot, in general, be shortcuts to predict the behavior of agents, explaining why deterministic agents often appear to act freely. In this paper, we introduce a variant of computational irreducibility that intends to capture more accurately aspects of actual (as opposed to apparent) free agency, including computational sourcehood, i.e., the phenomenon that the successful prediction of a process' behavior must typically involve an almost-exact representation of the relevant features of that process, regardless of the time it takes to arrive at the prediction. We argue that this can be understood as saying that the process itself is the source of its actions, and we conjecture that many computational processes have this property. The main contribution of this paper is technical, in that we analyze whether and how a sensible formal definition of computational sourcehood is possible. While we do not answer the question completely, we show how it is related to finding a particular simulation preorder on Turing machines, we uncover concrete stumbling blocks towards constructing such a definition, and demonstrate that structure-preserving (as opposed to merely simple or efficient) functions between levels of simulation play a crucial role. In this paper, a network consisting of an object localization module and a discriminative feature extraction module is designed for fine-grained image retrieval (FGIR). In order to reduce the interference of complex backgrounds, the object localization module is introduced into the network before feature extraction. By selecting the convolutional feature descriptors, the main object is separated from the background, and thus, most of the interference is filtered out. Further, in order to improve the overall performance of the network, a discriminative filter bank is introduced into the network as the local feature detector. Hence, the local discriminative features can be extracted directly from the original feature map. Both constructivist learning and situation-cognitive learning believe that learning outcomes are significantly affected by the context or learning environments. However, since 2019, the world has been ravaged by COVID-19. Under the threat of the virus, many offline activities, such as some practical or engineering courses, have been subjected to certain restrictions. Virtual Reality (VR) is an emerging, promising, and rapidly developing technology that enables users to obtain a near-real immersion experience by combining technologies such as computer science, communication, vision, etc. In the context of COVID-19, the advantages of VR immersive experiences are highlighted. By constructing a virtual learning environment, VR technology can greatly compensate for the shortage of traditional teaching conditions and help learners to carry out cognitive learning better. However, currently, VR-enhanced cognitive learning is still in its infancy, along with numerous problems and limitations. Therefore, this paper first conducted an in-depth study of some related concepts, such as constructivist learning and situated cognition learning. Then it proposes a general VR-enhanced cognitive learning framework and designs the general steps for constructing learning situations with VR technology. Based on the proposed model and framework, it developed a campus knowledge-learning APP using VR tools. Through a case study, it verified the validity and performance of the model and strategies. Questionnaire survey and experimental results show that the new model achieves a good learning effect and improves the efficiency of learning by at least 20% compared to the traditional learning methods. In recent years, cellular neural networks (CNNs) have become a popular apparatus for simulations in neuroscience, biology, medicine, computer sciences and engineering. In order to create more adequate models, researchers have considered memory effects, reaction–diffusion structures, impulsive perturbations, uncertain terms and fractional-order dynamics. The design, cellular aspects, functioning and behavioral aspects of such CNN models depend on efficient stability and control strategies. In many practical cases, the classical stability approaches are useless. Recently, in a series of papers, we have proposed several extended stability and control concepts that are more appropriate from the applied point of view. This paper is an overview of our main results and focuses on extended stability and control notions including practical stability, stability with respect to sets and manifolds and Lipschitz stability. We outline the recent progress in the stability and control methods and provide diverse mechanisms that can be used by the researchers in the field. The proposed stability techniques are presented through several types of impulsive and fractional-order CNN models. Examples are elaborated to demonstrate the feasibility of different technologies.
