This work aims at constraining the size, shape, and geometric albedo of the dwarf planet candidate 2002 MS4 through the analysis of nine stellar occultation events. Using multichord detection, we also studied the object's topography by analyzing the obtained limb and the residuals between observed chords and the best-fitted ellipse. We predicted and organized the observational campaigns of nine stellar occultations by 2002 MS4 between 2019 and 2022, resulting in two single-chord events, four double-chord detections, and three events with three to up to sixty-one positive chords. Using 13 selected chords from the 8 August 2020 event, we determined the global elliptical limb of 2002 MS4. The best-fitted ellipse, combined with the object's rotational information from the literature, constrains the object's size, shape, and albedo. Additionally, we developed a new method to characterize topography features on the object's limb. The global limb has a semi-major axis of 412 $\pm$ 10 km, a semi-minor axis of 385 $\pm$ 17 km, and the position angle of the minor axis is 121 $^\circ$ $\pm$ 16$^\circ$. From this instantaneous limb, we obtained 2002 MS4's geometric albedo and the projected area-equivalent diameter. Significant deviations from the fitted ellipse in the northernmost limb are detected from multiple sites highlighting three distinct topographic features: one 11 km depth depression followed by a 25$^{+4}_{-5}$ km height elevation next to a crater-like depression with an extension of 322 $\pm$ 39 km and 45.1 $\pm$ 1.5 km deep. Our results present an object that is $\approx$138 km smaller in diameter than derived from thermal data, possibly indicating the presence of a so-far unknown satellite. However, within the error bars, the geometric albedo in the V-band agrees with the results published in the literature, even with the radiometric-derived albedo.

Background. Prior to the introduction of new agents — immune checkpoint inhibitors — for inoperable and/or metastatic melanoma (IMM), chemotherapy outcomes were generally poor. The median (Me) overall survival (OS) in IMM was no more than 6-9 months, and the Me of progression-free survival (PFS) was about 2 months. The introduction of immune checkpoint inhibitors and targeted therapy changed the prognosis for the life of IMM patients dramatically. The development, studies, and approval of a new original PD-1 inhibitor, prolgolimab, in Russia in 2020 prompted the professional community to conduct a prospective observational study in the Russian Federation to assess its real-world efficacy and safety. Aim To evaluate the real-world efficacy and safety of prolgolimab in patients with IMM. Materials and methods. From October 2020 to October 2022, 700 patients with IMM receiving prolgolimab in real clinical settings in oncological institutions of various levels in the Russian Federation were included in the study. The main inclusion criteria were: pathology-confirmed diagnosis of melanoma; metastatic and/or inoperable type; use of prolgolimab outside of clinical trials; and signed informed consent. Objective response rate in the general population and the Intention-to-treat and Per Protocol populations was considered the main criterion for evaluating the efficacy of therapy, and the safety criterion was the incidence of grade 3-4 adverse events (AEs). PFS and OS rates were also assessed. Statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS 25.0 software package. Results. The objective response rate for the Per Protocol population (with radiographic assessment available) was 42% (n=235/559). Disease progression was reported in 26.7% (n=149) of patients, stabilization in 31.3% (n=175), and disease control in 73.3% of patients with IMM, regardless of the line of therapy. At the follow-up Me of 12 months (0-36), PFS for all patients regardless of the line of therapy was 8 months (95% confidence interval [Cl] 6.537-9.463), 6-month PFS was 55%, and 12-month PFS was 41%. OS Me for all included patients was 32 months, 6-month OS was 82%, and 12-month OS was 69%. Depending on the line of therapy, the OS Me was: line 1 - not reached, line 2-30 months (95% Cl 16.007-43.993), line 3 and subsequent- 22 months (95% Cl 14.264-29.736); p=0.736. According to the CTCAE 5.0 general terminology criteria for AEs, a total of 136/693 (19.6%) AEs of varying degrees were reported, in particular: grade 1-2 - 105/693 (15.2%), grade 3-4 - 25/693 (3.6%), unknown grade - 5/693 (0.7%), as well as one fatal case (0.1%) due to thromboembolism in the vascular center with an unclear (according to the investigator's assessment) relation with prolgolimab. Conclusion The results obtained at 12 months of follow-up confirm the high efficacy and satisfactory tolerability of prolgolimab in patients with IMM in real-world practice, regardless of the line of therapy and other characteristics.

Aim. To present data from the AURA Registry (real-world data registry on AlbUminuRia detection rate among patients with previously undiAgnosed chronic kidney disease). It is important to perform population studies both to study the occurrence of markers (albuminuria (AU), decreased glomerular filtration rate (GFR)) and the prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD), which will provide information on the actual detection rate of CKD and the related markers in territories included in the registry of research centers.Material and methods. The article presents the first data from the AURA registry. Recruitment was carried out from March 6, 2023 to January 23, 2024. Thirty-four research centers in various federal districts of the Russian Federation and 104 doctors took part in the recruitment. We included 4580 subjects over the age of 40 years who had no previously established diagnosis of CKD and did not have type 1 or type 2 diabetes. During recruitment, the researchers were guided by the AURA study protocol (Version 1.7/12-26-2022).Results. AU more than 20 mg/g was detected in 64,9% of cases. At the same time, AU is more common at GFR values that may correspond to stage 3A of CKD. The rarer occurrence of AU in those examined with GFR >60 ml/min/1,73 m2 may be explained by less severe renal damage at this CKD stage. The incidence of AU was significantly higher in men, older people, smokers, people with metabolic syndrome, hypertension (HTN), prediabetes and overweight. The occurrence of AU also increased as HTN grade increased. AU detection rate was associated with hypertriglyceridemia, a high blood level of C-reactive protein, which is an integrative marker of inflammation that negatively affects cardiovascular risk.Conclusion. The presented first data from the AURA registry demonstrated the high AU prevalence in people over 40 years of age. A high incidence of AU was typical for patients with HTN, coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, and prediabetes. An association has been demonstrated between the high incidence of AU and male sex, age, overweight, hyperuricemia, dyslipidemia, and a number of other cardiovascular risk factors.

У статті автором досліджено досвід багатьох держав у реалізації наглядової пробації, включаючианаліз етапів початкового зародження цього інституту та його подальшого розвитку і трансформації, зміну підходів до загальної концепції наглядової пробації та її мети. Крім того, автором надано характеристику особливостей сучасної практики реалізації наглядової пробації як невід’ємної складової систем кримінального правосуддя у низці країн з огляду на відмінності, обумовлені власними правовими традиціями,історичним досвідом та потребами кожної із держав. Також у статті звертається увага на існуючі підходи до впровадження реабілітаційних та виправних програм, наведено найпоширеніші у практиці інших держав кримінально-правові заходи, не пов’язані з ізоляцією правопорушників від суспільства. За результатами здійсненого аналізу автором обґрунтовано думку про доцільність запровадження в Україні більш прогресивної системи наглядової пробації, яка відповідала б сучасним вимогам, адже міжнародна практика свідчить, що запровадження служби пробації є важливим фактором, який позитивно впливає на суспільство.Зазначається, що ефективною складовою служб наглядової пробації є програми з відновного правосуддя: це й виховний вплив на правопорушника,і профілактика вчинення повторних правопорушень, і сприяння соціальній адаптації та реінтеграції правопорушників у суспільство. Враховуючи вищевикладене, автор вважає за необхідне запровадити деякі моделі й конкретні методики пробації в окремих регіонах України. В статті також наголошується на тому, що для практичного застосування переваг кожної закордонної системи пробації та реалізації її окремих методів в українській системі пробації необхідно комплексно та ґрунтовно розглянути, зокрема межі й узгодженість кримінальної політики та рівня гуманізації пенітенціарної політики;можливість та необхідність декриміналізації кримінальних діянь; єдність судової практики щодо призначення покарання стосовно неповнолітніх; узгодженість способів застосування пробації в зарубіжних країнах із особливостями застосування альтернативних позбавленню волі способів призначення покарань, що безумовно, є наразі актуальним напрямом для подальших наукових розвідок.

Aim. To assess awareness of blood pressure (BP) level, adherence to therapy and achievement of target BP in residents of Russian regions as part of the 2023 hypertension (HTN) screening campaign.Material and methods. During May 2023, 4613 participants from 23 cities of Russia took part in the screening. Participation was voluntary without restrictions on sex. All patients aged over 18 years. During screening, BP and pulse were measured three times using automatic or mechanical BP monitors, and a questionnaire about behavioral risk factors, concomitant diseases and therapy was filled out. HTN was diagnosed with systolic BP ≥140 mm Hg and/or diastolic BP ≥90 mm Hg and/or taking antihypertensive therapy (AHT).Results. The analysis included data from 4585 respondents aged 18 to 95 years with an average age of 45 [28;59] years, of which 1729 were men (37,7%). The proportion of hypertensive patients was 49,6%. Among them, 62,8% took AHT and achieved target BP in 76,6% and 45,7% with the target BP criterion

Aim. To investigate the prevalence and characteristics of polyvascular disease in the Eurasian region's population with one or more previously established locations of atherosclerotic arterial damage, and to evaluate the diagnostic importance of the ankle-brachial index (ABI) as a marker for polyvascular disease (PVD).Material and methods. A total of 1837 patients were included in the main branch of the KAMMA registry (patients with PVD), among which 91,6% had coronary artery disease (CAD) (n=1683). For further analysis, the group of patients with CAD was combined with 1222 patients included in the second branch of the registry — KAMMA-cardio, forming a patient population (n=2905), in which all patients had verified CAD. The mean age of patients was 66,0 [59,0; 72,0] years, with 60,3% being male. Peripheral arteries was assessed using ultrasound examination.Results. PVD was present in 95,6% of patients with coronary atherosclerosis: dual-region involvement was observed in 51,3% of patients, three-region involvement in 37,1%, four-region involvement in 3,4%, and five-region involvement in 2,0%. Stenoses of the common carotid artery were observed in 71% of patients, internal carotid artery — in 68%, lower limb artery — in 52%, and renal and mesenteric artery — in 8,3%. There were following diagnostic effectiveness of the ABI for detecting patients with lower limb artery stenosis was: sensitivity — 58,0%, specificity — 83,6%. The quality of antithrombotic and lipid-lowering therapy was insufficient.Conclusion. In the overwhelming majority (95,6%) of patients with CAD in the KAMMA registry, PVD was revealed, with nearly half of the patients having involvement in three or more arterial zones. In the patient population with CAD, there should be an active effort to identify patients with PVD, using at least the ABI determination and active modern antithrombotic and lipid-lowering therapy according to current clinical guidelines.

The risks of reducing the stability of buildings and structures are increasing in conditions of climate change and the active development of the territories under the influence of natural and anthropogenic factors. The main causes include: loss of the bearing capacity of frozen soils, various geocryological processes, errors at the stages of design, construction and operation of facilities. Main actual task when conducting research and industrial operations in the cryolithozone is monitoring and, if necessary, managing thermal processes in the permafrost layers interacting with facilities. In this article the obtained positive experience of various technologies applying at various stages of the life cycle of civil and industrial facilities was analyzed. It helps to eliminate or prevent the structure deformation or destruction under the influence of climate change. The methods of permafrost stabilization used in the oil and gas industry in process of industrial infrastructure development of the fields have been studied – freezing (cooling) of foundation soils during construction on heterogeneous foundations. The solution to the problems of minimizing accidents when locating production wells in the permafrost zone of the Yamal Peninsula is considered using the example of an oil and gas condensate field and restoring of the temperature regime of perennial unfrozen soils in areas of valve units of main gas pipelines. An assessment of methods used to maintain the industrial and residential infrastructure within the northern municipalities that ensure the functioning of the fuel and energy complex of the Russian Federation in the Arctic was made. The systems of thermal stabilization in the foundations of buildings and industrial facilities built and operated on permafrost soils allow to fully use the high strength and low deformability of frozen grounds. It ensures the state's long-term plans of the industrial development in the Arctic.

Quasar microlensing offers a unique opportunity to resolve tiny sources in distant active galactic nuclei and study compact object populations in lensing galaxies. We therefore searched for microlensing-induced variability of the gravitationally lensed quasar QSO 2237+0305 (Einstein Cross) using 4374 optical frames taken with the 2.0 m Liverpool Telescope and the 1.5 m Maidanak Telescope. These $gVrRI$ frames over the 2006$-$2019 period were homogeneously processed to generate accurate long-term multi-band light curves of the four quasar images A-D. Through difference light curves, we found strong microlensing signatures. We then focused on the analytical modelling of two putative caustic-crossing events in image C, finding compelling evidence that this image experienced a double caustic crossing. Additionally, our overall results indicate that a standard accretion disc accounts reasonably well for the brightness profile of UV continuum emission sources and for the growth in source radius when the emission wavelength increases: $R_{\lambda} \propto \lambda^{\alpha}$, $\alpha$ = 1.33 $\pm$ 0.09. The representation of architecture as a container, when the form does not follow the function at all, and the content actually becomes a replaceable and transformable filling, changes the traditional ideas about the impossibility to transfer the content of a work into another Form. The ideology of hybrid spaces and flexible offices, the need for reconstruction/modernization of historical and industrial buildings and structures, renovation and gentrification of degrading environments and objects give special importance to the discussion of the “container” as an ongoing discourse of the profession.

Abstract The wildfires in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone (ChEZ) have caused widespread public concern about the potential risk of radiation exposure from radionuclides resuspended and redistributed due to the fires in 2020. The wildfires were also confirmed in ChEZ in the spring of 2022, and its impact needed to be estimated accurately and rapidly. In this study, we developed a tuning-free burned area detection algorithm (TuFda) to perform rapid detection of burned areas for the purpose of immediate post-fire assessment. We applied TuFda to detect burned areas in the ChEZ during the spring of 2022. The size of the burned areas in February and March was estimated as 0.4 km2 and 70 km2, respectively. We also applied the algorithm to other areas outside the boundaries of the ChEZ and detected land surface changes totaling 553 km2 in northern Ukraine between February and March 2022. These changes may have occurred as a result of the Russian invasion. This study is the first to identify areas in northern Ukraine impacted by both wildfires and the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Our algorithm facilitates the rapid provision of accurate information on significant land surface changes whether caused by wildfires, military action, or any other factor.

Background. Novel agents immune checkpoint inhibitors fundamentally changed the prognosis for life in patients with metastatic and/or inoperable melanoma. The development, studies, and approval of a new original PD1 inhibitor in Russia in 2020 prompted the professional community to conduct a prospective observational study in the Russian Federation to assess the real-world efficacy and safety of prolgolimab, as real-world patients differ from the refined population in clinical trials. Aim. To evaluate the real-world efficacy and safety of prolgolimab in patients with metastatic and/or inoperable melanoma. Materials and methods. From October 2020 to October 2022, the study enrolled 700 patients with metastatic and/or inoperable melanoma receiving prolgolimab in real clinical settings in oncological institutions of various levels in the Russian Federation. The main inclusion criteria were: pathology-confirmed diagnosis of melanoma, metastatic and/or inoperable type, use of prolgolimab outside of clinical trials, and signed informed consent by the patient. Objective response rate (ORR) was considered the main criterion for evaluating the efficacy of therapy, and the safety criterion was the incidence of grade 34 adverse events. Statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS 20.0 software package. Results. The ORR for patients with skin melanoma treated with prolgolimab in the first line therapy (n= 207/337) was 48.3% (n=100), the disease stabilization was reported in 30.4% (n=63), and progression in 21.3% (n=44) of patients. There were no significant differences in response to therapy between patients with/withoutBRAFmutation, although ORR was higher in patients withBRAFmutation: the ORR for patients withBRAFmutation was 57.9% (n=33), and forBRAFnon-mutated patients, 44.4% (n=52;p=0.222). At a median follow-up of 5 months, the median PFS was 10 months (95% confidence interval 7.3512.64). The incidence of grade 34 treatment-related adverse events according to CTCAE 5.0 was 2% (n=12), and 12% (n=82) for grade 12 adverse events. Conclusion. The results confirm the high efficacy and satisfactory tolerability of prolgolimab in patients with metastatic and/or inoperable melanoma in real-world settings. There were no significant differences in ORR between patients with or withoutBRAFmutation.

A method of information leakage channel security estimating based on the test speech signal envelope cross-correlation analysis is proposed and its includes: test signal generating and extracting its envelope, emitting and measuring in a leakage channel, extracting the resulting signal envelope, calculating the correlation coefficient between the original and received envelopes, and comparing with a threshold value. A metod for extracting a low-frequency signal envelope using the Hilbert transform is shown. A description of the cross-correlation analysis based on the Pearson correlation coefficient is given. The leakage channel simulation modeling, formation and measurement of the test signals was performed in the MatLab. The obtained results confirm the greater efficiency of using the envelope compared to the original signal, and demonstrate the speech signals advantage over harmonic signals as test signals for assessing the information leakage channel security.

ЦЕЛЬ ИССЛЕДОВАНИЯ: Изучение соответствий признаков, определяемых при УЗИ легких, с признаками компьютерной томографии (КТ) и морфологическими данными у пациентов с пневмонией COVID-19. МАТЕРИАЛЫ И МЕТОДЫ: В post hoc анализ было включено 388 пациентов, которым одновременно было выполнено УЗИ и КТ легких. УЗИ легких проводили согласно 16-зонному «Русскому протоколу». Морфологические данные получены по результатам патологоанатомического исследования умерших пациентов. Гистологические срезы окрашивали гематоксилином и эозином, а затем исследовали под световым микроскопом. In this work, we estimate the effect of photoinduced screening breakdown of the Coulomb potential mediated by plasmons. In contrast to previous studies, we consider the contribution from the divergence of renormalized inverse electron permittivity, which enhances Coulomb interaction at longer ranges. Our work reveals that the Coulomb potential acquires oscillating terms, which for the charged plane case could lead to a spatial heterostructure. In the resonant case ($\omega_p = \Omega$), photoinduced Coulomb interaction becomes attractive for small values of momenta. This Coulomb interaction renormalization could potentially lead to instabilities in the electron system, such as superconductivity and/or charge density waves. We found possible divergence of the electron coupling constant and discuss herein a potential new mechanism of superconductivity based on electron-electron interaction renormalization via the plasmon oscillating electric field. 22. Spectroscopic follow-up of double quasar candidates

We report the results of an optical spectroscopic follow-up of four double quasar candidates in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) database. SDSS J1617+3827 is most likely a lensed quasar at z = 2.079, consisting of two images with r ~ 19-21 and separated by ~ 2 arcsec. We identify an extended source northeast of the brightest image as an early-type lensing galaxy at z = 0.602, and detect a candidate for the main deflector in the vicinity of the faintest image. SDSS J2153+2732 consists of two distinct but physically associated quasars at z ~ 2.24 (r ~ 19-20, separation of 3.6 arcsec). Although this system might be a binary quasar, there is evidence of a collision or merger within a galaxy cluster at an early stage. The other two candidates are projected pairs of active galactic nuclei: SDSS J1642+3200 (separation of ~ 3 arcsec) comprises a distant quasar (r ~ 18) at z = 2.263 and the active nucleus (r > 20) of a galaxy at z ~ 0.3, while SDSS J0240-0208 (r ~ 18-19, separation of ~ 1 arcsec) is a pair of quasars at z = 1.687 and z = 1.059. In each of these two systems, the background quasar only suffers a weak gravitational lensing effect by the host galaxy of the foreground active nucleus, so the host galaxy mass is constrained to be less than (2.9-3) x 10^{11} solar masses inside 10 kpc., Comment: 8 pages, 7 figures, 5 tables (full tables 1 and 3-5 are available online in a machine-readable ASCII format at https://grupos.unican.es/glendama/LQLM_results.htm). Abstract While radioembolization with yttrium-90 (Y-90) microspheres is a promising treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), lower responses in advanced and high-grade tumors present an urgent need to augment its tumoricidal efficacy. The purpose of this study was to determine whether clinically used Y-90 microspheres activate light-responsive nano-photosensitizers to enhance hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell oxidative stress and cytotoxicity over Y-90 alone in vitro. Singlet oxygen and hydroxyl radical production was enhanced when Y-90 microspheres were in the presence of several nano-photosensitizers compared to either alone in cell-free conditions. Both the SNU-387 and HepG2 human HCC cells demonstrated significantly lower viability when treated with low activity Y-90 microspheres (0.1–0.2 MBq/0.2 mL) and a nano-photosensitizer consisting of both titanium dioxide (TiO2) and titanocene (TC) labelled with transferrin (TiO2-Tf-TC) compared to Y-90 microspheres alone or untreated cells. The coronavirus infection (COVID-19) is characterized by a high incidence of pneumonia. Extensive damage, high mortality associated with COVID-19 make the rapid bedside diagnosis and dynamic monitoring of the volume and nature of lung tissue damage a challenge. Lung ultrasound examination can be used as a tool to answer it.The objective: to compare the signs detected by lung computed tomography and ultrasound and to assess the sensitivity and specificity of ultrasound in the diagnosis of pneumonia induced by COVID-19.Subjects and Methods. The observational prospective clinical study included 388 patients aged 18–75 years old; they had a confirmed diagnosis of pneumonia caused by COVID-19 or suspected COVID-19. Lung ultrasound was performed within 24 hours after computed tomography (CT) of the chest organs. During CT, pathological signs, infiltration and consolidation of the lungs were visualized which were documented by lung segments. Lung ultrasound was performed according to the Russian Protocol, ultrasound signs of B-lines and consolidation were also documented based on the projection of lung segments on the chest wall. The distributions of variables was analyzed, described and summarized. The sensitivity and specificity of ultrasound methods were evaluated on the basis of ROC analysis according to CT gold standard.Results. Bilateral involvement was found in 100% of cases. Typical CT signs of pneumonia caused by coronavirus infection were ground-glass opacity of the pulmonary parenchyma, thickened pleura, consolidation, interstitium, reticular induration, and cobblestone appearance. With ultrasound examination of the lungs and pleura, the detected signs corresponded to CT signs. B lines (multifocal, discrete or merging) and consolidation of various volumes of lung tissue were most common during ultrasound. The sign of consolidation was detected less frequently versus infiltration (p < 0.001). The sensitivity of lung ultrasound in the diagnosis of lung lesions was 95.3%, and the specificity was 85.4%, the area under the curve was 0.976 with a confidence interval of 0.961–0.991 (p < 0.001).Conclusion. The use of lung ultrasound during the COVID-19 pandemic makes it possible to identify, assess the volume and nature of lung damage. Lung ultrasound demonstrated accuracy comparable to CT of the chest organs in detecting pneumonia in patients with COVID-19.

Objectives. When creating models of system dynamics, the basic construct at the design stage is the representation of the process under study in terms of a causal relationship consisting of a positive feedback loop and a negative feedback loop. The construction of a model of a dynamic environment can experience a number of difficulties in using feedback. This work shows the possibility of designing modules of system dynamics for decision-making systems based on the situational-activity approach. The study proposes the gap in knowledge about models of system dynamics to be filled with a conceptual model of an act of activity, by means of which an expert system can be implemented based on production rules. In this context, conceptual models are applied to human reasoning with reference to certain types of activity. The objective of the study was to investigate the possibility of applying the situational-active approach to designing models of system dynamics of infectious diseases based on particular representations of the conceptual structure of the act of activity.Methods. By synthesizing Bolotova's situational algorithm and Shchedrovitskiy's system-activity approach, the conceptual structure of the act of activity is presented as a methodology of the situational-activity approach. The analysis of this structure leads to the construction of a plan of processual structure and a plan of analytical relationships. The article proposed a hypothesis that the process representations describe the notation of flows and levels, and the analytical relationships implement differential equations. In order to prove this hypothesis, the subject area of infectious diseases was investigated.Results. Based on the set of these plans, a graphic image was synthesized for constructing models of system dynamics, which is identical to the diagram of flows and levels of development of the SIR process. However, the problem of constructing conceptual structures is nontrivial, complex, and laborious. Therefore, the Designer-Solver-Interpreter software suite was implemented. The software tools enable a visualization of the conceptual structures and implementation of the knowledge bases for expert models of system dynamics. It also tests the completeness and viability of the model.Conclusions. To date, there is no single conceptual structure for designing expert systems and situational and simulation dynamic models. The proposed method and software tools allow these problems to be resolved using the situational-activity method. Various types of dynamics in expert systems interact, thus confirming the reliability of knowledge in the models of system dynamics. The conceptual structures of the act of activity are the core part of designing expert systems, while he derivative process and analytical representations of the act of activity are the core part of developing modules of system dynamics.

Our goal was to develop a robust algorithm for numerical simulation of one-dimensional shallow-water flow in a complex multiply-connected channel network with arbitrary geometry and variable topography. We apply a central-upwind scheme with a novel reconstruction of the open water surface in partially flooded cells that does not require additional correction. The proposed reconstruction and an exact integration of source terms for momentum conservation equation provide positivity preserving and well-balanced features of the scheme for various wet-dry states. We use two models based on continuity equation and mass and momentum conservation equations integrated for a control volume around the channel junction to its treatment. These junction models permit to simulate a subcritical and supercritical flow in a channel network. Numerous numerical experiments demonstrate the robustness of the proposed numerical algorithm and a good agreement of numerical results with exact solutions, experimental data, and results of the previous numerical studies. The proposed new specialized test on inundation and drying of initially dry channel network shows the merits of the new numerical algorithm to simulate the subcritical/supercritical open water flows in the network.

BACKGROUND: Computer-aided design and three-dimensional printing have been used in various clinical and fundamental medicine fields, especially in surgery. For example, in the preoperative period, the correspondence of printed products to the anatomy can play an important role in evaluating pathological changes and correction methods. However, determining dimensional deviations of printed models involves ethical and technical difficulties associated with defining a reference and taking many measurements, respectively. Therefore, we propose to use a geometric object with known dimensions as a reference and estimate linear deviations using the Iterative Closest Point algorithm for each of the vertices of the prototyped polygonal mesh. AIMS: To evaluate the geometric deviations associated with creation of bone-like physical objects from computed tomography data using computer-aided design and additive manufacturing. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The source object was created using the FreeCAD application; Blender and Meshmixer software was used for polygon meshes correction and transformation. The 3D printing was carried out on an Ender-3 printer with copper-impregnated polylactide plastic BFCopper. Scanning was performed using a 128-slice tomograph Philips Ingenuity CT. A series of tomographic images were processed in 3DSlicer software to create virtual models by semiautomatic segmentation with threshold values of 500 HU, 0 HU, 500 HU, 750 HU, and manual segmentation. Reproduced and reference polygon meshes were compared using the Iterative Closest Point algorithm in CloudCompare software. RESULTS: The volume of reproduced models exceeded the volume of respective reference models by 1%27%. The average point cloud linear deviation values of reproduced models from the reference ones were 0.030.41 mm. A significant correlation between integral sums of linear deviations and changes in the volume of reproduced models was shown using Spearman's rank correlation coefficient ( = 0.83; temp = 5.27, p=0.05). CONCLUSION: The geometry of the reproduced object changes inevitably, while the linear deviations depend more on the chosen segmentation method than on the overall size of the model or its structures. The manual segmentation method can lead to greater linear deviations, though it saves all the necessary anatomical structures.

Optically bright, wide separation double (gravitationally lensed) quasars can be easily monitored, leading to light curves of great importance in determining the Hubble constant and other cosmological parameters, as well as the structure of active nuclei and halos of galaxies. Searching for new double quasars in the SDSS-III database, we discovered SDSS J1442+4055. This consists of two bright images (18-19 magnitudes in the r band) of the same distant quasar at redshift z = 2.575. The two quasar images are separated by about 2.1 arcsec, show significant parallel flux variations and can be monitored from late 2015. We also found other two double quasar candidates, SDSS J1617+3827 (z = 2.079) and SDSS J1642+3200 (z = 2.264), displaying evidence for the presence of a lensing object and parallel flux variations, but requiring further spectroscopic observations to be confirmed as lensed quasars., Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures, 2 tables. Repetitive quarantines and social restrictions during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic have negatively affected the population health in general, and the control of hypertension (HTN) in particular.Aim. To evaluate the control of HTN in the Russian population during the COVID-19 period based on the results of screening for HTN May Measurement Month 2021 (MMM2021).Material and methods. During May-August 2021, 2491 participants from 11 Russian regions took part in the screening. Participation was voluntary without restrictions on sex. All participants were over 18 years of age. During the screening, blood pressure (BP) was measured three times using automatic and mechanical BP monitors. In addition, a questionnaire was filled out on behavioral risk factors, comorbidities and therapy. HTN was diagnosed with systolic BP ≥140 mmHg and/ or diastolic blood pressure ≥90 mmHg and/or taking antihypertensive therapy. The questionnaire included questions about prior COVID-19, vaccinations and their impact on the intake of antihypertensive drugs.Results. The analysis included data from 2461 respondents aged 18 to 92, of which 963 were men (39,1%). The proportion of hypertensive patients was 41,0%, while among them 59,0% took antihypertensives and 30,9% were effectively treated. The growth of antibiotic resistance of cholera vibrios causes interest in a group of substances of plant origin possessing antimicrobial activity. The purpose of this work was to study the antibacterial properties of pectin in relation to Vibrio cholerae and biofilms formed by it. A 1.0-5.0% solution of pectin caused death of cholera vibrios of various serogroups, both antibiotic-sensitive and possessing multiple antibiotic resistance, when exposed for a total of 1 hour. Biofilms were slightly more resistant to 1.0% pectin and showed high sensitivity to 2.0-5.0% solution of pectin, which also prevented the formation of biofilms. With the help of transmission electron microscopy it was shown that as a result of the action of 5.0% pectin solution within 1 hour a pronounced destruction of the matrix with complete destruction of cholera vibrio cells was observed. The study shows the promise of using pectins in the treatment and prevention of diseases caused by V.cholerae.

The seasonal temperature and humidity regime of the road foundation in the active layer of soil largely determines the reliability and safety of the automobile road use. The aim of this article is a quantitative assessment of the influence of variation in ice content in the active layer of the road foundation soil in the permafrost area on the depth of seasonal soil thawing. Analytical solutions of one-phase flat Stefan problem at varying ice content along the coordinate were obtained. The solution is in the dimensionless form as a Fourier function based on Stefan number and dimensionless simplexes. The dependence of ice content change on the distance was assumed to be linear. Calculations using the obtained formulas were conducted, comparing against formulas assuming that ice content is a constant. It was determined at which ice content gradient averaging the ice content does not lead to an error greater than permitted in engineering practice in determination of the thawing depth. The results of variant calculations are presented as 2D and 3D charts to assess the influence of the initial ice content in the soil and the degree of its variation over the period of road use on the thawing depth of road foundation.

The process of identifying and evaluating of the soil moisture indicator was improved by way of applying processing of multi-spectral aerospace images and conducting mathematical calculations on the data of spectral brightness of channels. Usage of the normalized index of NWI which is calculated on data from multi-spectral aerospace imaging on the basis of normalized difference of the spectral reflection in short-wave infrared spectral band is justified. Efficiency of this index in application to soil moisture evaluation for solving agrotechnical problems is proved.

This article is devoted to the study of the distribution of ground ice volumes in the upper layers of 5–10 m permafrost in the permafrost landscapes of Arctic Yakutia. Compilation of such a map will serve as a basis for assessing the vulnerability of permafrost to global warming, anthropogenic impact and forecasting the evolution of permafrost landscapes. The map was compiled using ArcGIS software, which supports attribute table mapping. The ground ice map of Arctic Yakutian permafrost landscapes shows that about 19% of the area is occupied by ultra ice-rich (above 0.6 in volumetric ice content) sediments. Very high ice volumes (0.4–0.6) are cover approximately 27%, moderate ice volumes (0.2–0.4)—25% of the area, and low ice volumes (less than 0.2)—about 29% of Arctic Yakutia.
