The digital games market is growing every year and game development is becoming increasingly complex. Thus, scalability in content generation may require the work of a team with hundreds of people. Procedural Content Generation (PCG) comes as an alternative to decrease costs and accelerate the process of game production by creating content automatically or semi-automatically. This article presents some concepts and reviews works developed in PCG, aiming to provide a starting point for those interested in learning and going deeper in the subject of PCG for digital games.

The aim of fairness in physician scheduling is to build up schedules with high level of compliance of work regulations and individual preferences while violations stemming from requirements are softened and fairly distributed along the workforce. In this paper, we address the fairness in physician scheduling problemin emergency rooms by means of mathematical programming. A minimax MIP and MIP based heuristics relax-and-fix and fix-and-optimize are introduced to create balanced scheduling fromthe set of physicians. The solutions achieved present high quality in terms of fairness despite the lower bound, which is the main drawback in this problem.

Key outcome measures included refractive error, photopic monocular and binocular uncorrected and corrected distance visual acuity (UDVA, CDVA), uncorrected and corrected intermediate visual acuity (UIVA, CDIVA) at 60 cm, and uncorrected and corrected near visual acuity (UNVA, CDNVA) at 40 cm. Additionally, monocular and binocular CDNVA were assessed under mesopic conditions. Monocular and binocular defocus curves, and binocular contrast sensitivity under photopic and mesopic conditions, with and without glare, were measured. Catquest-9SF and visual symptoms questionnaires were also administered.Results: Postoperative average values of binocular logMAR photopic CDVA, photopic CDIVA, photopic CDNVA and mesopic CDNVA were − 0.01± 0.06, 0.03± 0.09, 0.02± 0.05 and 0.19± 0.13, respectively. About 100% of patients showed cumulative CDVA and CDNVA ≥ 20/25, and CDIVA ≥ 20/32. The average absolute depth-of-focus was about 4.50D. The average postoperative spherical equivalent was 0.05± 0.30D and 100% and 93.75% eyes were within ± 1.00D and ± 0.50D, respectively. Contrast sensitivity was either within or above normal levels under both photopic and mesopic conditions, both with and without glare, except for 12 cpd under mesopic conditions with glare where the mean falls just below the normal range. Questionnaires revealed that 87.5% of patients were either satisfied or very satisfied with their vision after the surgery, and higher percentages for no difficulty in performing different activities, ranging from 70.83% to 95.83%, were reported.Conclusion: This study demonstrates that the bi-aspheric diffractive trifocal IOL yields very good visual performance across distances, fostering high satisfaction levels and minimal difficulties in daily activities.Keywords: trifocal, diffractive, intraocular lens, phacoemulsification, cataract

Introdução: Os principais fatores associados ao excesso de peso infantil são a má alimentação, a baixa prática de exercícios físicos e a introdução precoce de alimentos industrializados em sua dieta. A má alimentação está associada, principalmente ao alto consumo de alimentos industrializados e baixo consumo de frutas, verduras e legumes. Objetivo: Identificar a influência do consumo de alimentos industrializados na prevalência de sobrepeso e obesidade infantil. Materiais e métodos: Pesquisa do tipo quantitativa descritiva transversal, realizada com 25 crianças de 6 a 12 anos e seus respectivos pais de uma escola privada da cidade de Campo Grande-MS em 2022. Foi elaborado um questionário autoaplicável para os pais, na qual responderam sobre a alimentação e os dados sociodemográficos do seu filho. Resultados: Observou-se que 40% das crianças estavam eutróficas e 52% apresentavam excesso de peso. Sobre o consumo alimentar, observou-se que 40% não consumiam verduras e 32% não consumiam legumes. Com relação ao consumo de alimentos industrializados, 32% consumiam doces diariamente e 64% consumiam iogurte tipo “petit suisse” semanalmente. Discussão: Outros estudos mostram que o sobrepeso e a obesidade atingem mais de 20% das crianças de diversas cidades brasileiras. Conclusão: Os resultados dos estudos apontaram que o excesso de peso é um problema cada vez mais frequente nas crianças e que o alto consumo de alimentos industrializados e menor consumo de legumes e verduras estão correlacionados com esta condição.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of putrescine priming on the initial growth, chlorophyll fluorescence, primary metabolites accumulation, and antioxidant enzyme activities in two maize hybrids with contrasting drought tolerances. Seeds of Zea mays L. hybrids DKB 390 (drought tolerant) and BRS 1030 (drought sensitive) were primed with putrescine (10 or 100 µM). Paper rolls moistened with distilled water or mannitol (-0.6 MPa) were maintened at 30°C for 7 d. The growth parameters were higher in the DKB hybrid than in the BRS hybrid. Putrescine priming (10 µM) promoted the root growth of BRS at levels similar to those of DKB and improved photochemical and non-photochemical quenching and maximum quantum efficiency of BRS seedlings. Higher levels of reducing sugars were found in DKB seedlings when compared to BRS in both roots and leaves, especially with 100 µM putrescine. Total soluble sugar and starch were lower in the maize roots under water deficit and with 10 µM putrescine for both hybrids. BRS seedlings showed higher starch content in the leaves in the control and 10 µM putrescine treatments. Superoxide dismutase was activated in BRS plants by the priming, especially in the roots, but this effect was not observed for catalase, ascorbate, or guaiacol peroxidase, although the DKB seedlings presented much higher guaiacol peroxidade activity than BRS seedlings in both the roots and shoots. In conclusion, putrescine priming (10 M) improved the morphological and biochemical responses of the drought sensitive maize hybrid BRS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We aim to describe and characterize a series of Chilean patients with HMN, emphasizing the clinical, neurophysiological, and neuroimaging features, evolution, and underlying molecular aetiology. Of 32 patients with early onset HMN, 16 (50%) patients yielded positive results in the NGS study—12/16 after a comprehensive neuropathy panel and 4/16 after whole exome analysis. 12 are boys, 4 girls. 7/16 manifested the disease at newborn, and 5/16 of them had arthrogryposis. Five patients presented an SMA-LED phenotype secondary to variants in the DYNC1H11, TRPV4, and HARS genes. Four patients presented a SMARD1 phenotype with different homozygous or compound heterozygous variants in IGHMBP2. Two patients present Pontocerebellar hypoplasia with spinal muscular atrophy (PCH1) and known mutations in EXOSC3. Three patients manifest a complex neurodegenerative phenotype of early-onset hypotonia with spinal muscular atrophy and distal weakness associated with a severe developmental delay, hyperacusis, abnormal EEG with epileptic activity without clinical seizures, and a progressive cerebellar atrophy in one of them. All these three patients are girls with different and novel variants in SPTBN4. Finally, a patient with a MORC variant and another with MFN variant presented a severe motor neuropathy. Both started symptoms after two years old. In this cohort, 8 patients had a tracheostomy and gastrostomy and depend on invasive ventilation. Two patients died at 9 months and 18 months of age with mutations in IGHMBP2 and EXOSC3, respectively. To conclude, our cohort's yield of genetic aetiology is similar to what has been described abroad, and more than 50% of our patients still lack aetiology. We propose SPTBN4, a gene that encodes a nonerythrocytic member of the beta-spectrin protein family expressed in the brain, peripheral nervous system, pancreas, and skeletal muscles, as an additional cause of early onset HMN with central nervous system involvement including progressive cerebellar atrophy. We highlight a SMALED presentation in a HARS deletion as a rare form of clinical phenotype in this gene. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
