DIGITAL literacy , *HUMAN capital , *DIGITAL technology , *PATH analysis (Statistics) , *INTERNET marketing - Abstract
Digital marketing is becoming an important component for the success of MSMEs in facing competition in the digital era. However, many MSMEs in Yogyakarta still face challenges in adopting digital marketing strategies because of low digital literacy and human resource readiness (Human Capital e-Readiness). The study aimed to analyze the influence of digital literacy on MSME performance through the role of digital literacy as a mediating variable. Also, the study aimed to examine the relationship between Human Capital E-Readiness and MSME performance through digital literacy. This study used a quantitative explanatory approach. Its focus was on coffee MSMEs that actively use digital marketing. The sample consisted of 100 respondents who were selected using purposive sampling from the coffee MSMEs that use digital marketing. Data were collected through a questionnaire with a Likert scale to measure respondents' attitudes and perceptions of the phenomenon being studied. The data were analyzed using Smart PLS 3.0 using a path analysis model. The study indicates that Human Capital EReadiness has a positive and significant effect on Digital Literacy with a path coefficient of 0.599, t-Statistics of 7.787, and P-Value of 0.00, which supports the first hypothesis. Furthermore, Human Capital E-Readiness has a positive and significant effect on Performance with a path coefficient of 0.366, t-Statistics of 4.731, and P-Value of 0.00, which supports the second hypothesis. However, the effect of Digital Literacy on Performance is insignificant (t- Statistics of 1.932 and P-value of 0.054), so the third hypothesis is rejected. Finally, although Human Capital E-Readiness has a positive effect on Performance through Digital Literacy, this effect is not significant (t-Statistics of 1.798 and P-Value of 0.073) and the fourth hypothesis is rejected. The study confirms that Human Capital E-Readiness plays an important role in improving Digital Literacy, which affects the Performance of coffee MSMEs in Yogyakarta. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This study investigates the factors influencing the intention to use Islamic Debt Financing (IDF) among owners-managers of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Morocco. Design/methodology/approach: We developed and validated a comprehensive model that examines the key behavioral elements affecting attitude towards IDF, entrepreneurial achievement motivation, and IDF usage intention. Entrepreneurial achievement motivation was assessed as a mediator in the relationship between attitude towards IDF and usage intention. Gender and Islamic religiosity were examined as moderators through Multi-Group analysis. Utilizing data from 266 Moroccan MSMEs, we applied structural equation modeling for empirical evaluation. Findings: Results revealed direct relationships with financial literacy, risk perception, and cost perception negatively affecting attitude toward IDF. Financial suitability is inversely related to attitude toward IDF. Entrepreneurial self-efficacy and subjective norms positively influenced entrepreneurial achievement motivation. Attitude toward IDF positively impacted entrepreneurial achievement motivation, and both attitude toward IDF and entrepreneurial achievement motivation were linked to the intention to use IDF. Empirical findings indicated that entrepreneurial achievement motivation partially mediates the relationship between attitude towards IDF and usage intention. Multi-group analysis revealed a significant moderating effect of Islamic religiosity on three out of nine structural relationships. Research limitations/implications: This study is primarily limited by the absence of a longitudinal examination tracking real usage behavior. Moreover, data collection focused on analyzing the behavioral intention to use Islamic debt-based financing products, excluding equity-based financing instruments. Finally, our proposed model concentrates on establishing usage intention solely based on demand-side factors without explicitly integrating supply-side consideration. Practical implications: Our findings contribute to a deeper understanding of IDF adoption behavior and have the potential to support the development of more effective public policies, targeted promotional campaigns, and impactful financial education programs for MSMEs in similar markets. Originality/value: This paper represents the first attempt to address MSMEs' apprehensions regarding Islamic debt-based financing products in the MENA region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study, we examine the direct relationship between business digitalisation and improvements in economic sustainability, as well as the potential mediating role of environmental sustainability. We also examine the potential role of company size as a moderating variable in these relationships. We gathered data from micro, small and medium‐sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Finland. Contrary to initial expectations, our findings reveal that there is no direct and significant relationship between business digitalisation and the economic sustainability of enterprises; this relationship is only possible through the mediating role of environmental sustainability. We also found that, although high levels of environmental sustainability may result in improved economic outcomes, the strength of this relationship is much weaker for microenterprises than for their larger counterparts. Altogether, these results underscore the complex interplay between digitalisation and sustainability outcomes within the context of small businesses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study explores the interplay between tax incentives, creative compliance, and innovation in enhancing business resilience and sustainability among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, addressing gaps in the existing literature regarding their interrelationships during crises. A cross-sectional survey of 360 MSMEs was conducted, utilizing the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach to analyze complex relationships among variables. The findings reveal that creative compliance, including tax planning and avoidance, does not directly impact resilience or sustainability. While tax incentives did not significantly enhance resilience during crises, they contributed to long-term sustainability. Innovation emerged as a critical factor linking creative compliance to business success and fully mediating the effects of tax incentives on resilience. This study emphasizes the necessity for MSMEs to prioritize innovation in their strategies, particularly in conjunction with effective tax practices, and highlights the need for government support through simplified regulatory frameworks to foster an innovative business environment. Limitations include the challenges of incorporating control variables in SEM and the need for further research into the long-term effects of these factors on sustainable performance. PAYMENT systems ,DIGITAL technology ,SMALL business ,ECONOMIC competition - Abstract
Digital Payment System (DPS) growth plays a crucial role in supporting the country's digital economic growth. As a country representing the global south, Indonesia has an important responsibility to manage the dynamics of DPS growth, which is influenced significantly by actors from the government and private sectors. Initially, DPS was designed to provide more efficient and accessible payment services, but over time, the scope of such digital services has expanded. Nevertheless, challenges must be addressed in distributing DPS evenly, especially among MSMEs. Through the approach promoted by the Economic Asian Committee (EAC), this study aims to assess the impact of DPS growth on the digital services ecosystem in Indonesia and the dynamics of interaction between related stakeholders. Qualitative methods are used to summarize information from various sources, including journal literature and data from websites, which provide an in-depth understanding of the complexity of this phenomenon and Indonesia's efforts to improve its overall digital competitiveness. The findings in this study indicate that the Digital Payment System (DPS) offers numerous benefits for the financial system, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness for industrial growth. However, challenges in ensuring equitable usage across all regions of Indonesia remain significant across various sectors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia has been continually increasing, contributing to as much as 60.51 percent of the GDP in 2019. This underscores the vital and strategic role of MSMEs in the national economy. Given the substantial potential of MSME tax revenue and the suboptimal level of tax compliance, the Government implemented a presumptive tax in 2013. Moreover, the Government has taken measures to reduce the final income tax rate for MSMEs from 1 percent to 0.5 percent, with the aim of facilitating the growth of MSMEs and increasing their participation in tax payments. Tax cut is one of the instruments in the supply-side tax policy that frequently used by the Government to stimulate productivity. Hence, it is not surprising that the government encourages the development of MSMEs by reducing the final income tax rate to 0.5 percent. This article aims to describe the effect of reducing the tax rate from 1 percent (based on PP 46/2013) to 0.5 percent (based on PP 23/2018) on state revenues and MSME taxpayer payment compliance. Using national monthly data from 2015-2021, a non-parametric statistical descriptive analysis was conducted with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test. The study found that the tax rate adjustment - in this case, the reduction of the final income tax rate for MSMEs to 0.5 percent as per Government Regulation No. 23 of 2018 - has had a significant impact on state revenue and tax compliance. Based on the human capital and social capital theories, this study aims to explore how micro, small and medium enterprises utilize strategic resources to drive growth and competitiveness. Data were collected from 309 micro, small, and medium restaurant owners and managers and two-stage structural equation modelling was conducted to test the hypothesized relationships. The research findings show that the entrepreneur's/manager's age and years of work experience are related to firm growth while the entrepreneur's age is related to firm competitiveness. Accordingly, social capital is directly related to firm growth and competitiveness. Moreover, social capital plays a mediating role in the effect of human capital on firm growth and competitiveness. The study contributes to extant knowledge by extending human capital and social capital theory as well as firm growth and competitiveness literature in the field. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in economic development. Despite their restricted access to resources, MSMEs are rapidly developing new products and innovations in emerging economies. This study examines the underlying mechanism through which entrepreneurial bricolage (EB) affects micro-business performance (MBP). We propose a moderated mediation model of innovation capability (IC) and digital marketing capabilities (DMC). Using structured questionnaire data were collected from 508 women entrepreneurs in Malaysia, and partial equation modeling was used to examine the hypothesis. The findings present that IC mediates the relationship between EB and MBP. Moreover, DMC moderates the connection between IC and MBP. We conclude that MBP may be accomplished more successfully through the process of EB, IC, and DMC. This study contributes by building a theory-based moderated mediation model to interpret the linkage between EB and MBP. Additionally, several significant insights were generated for many parties involved in MSMEs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: The study investigates the linkage between personality traits and firm performance. It examines the role of the pursuit of excellence, perseverance, a proactive mindset and formal education in determining the entrepreneurial success of MSMEs. Design/methodology/approach: Data were collected from 432 MSME entrepreneurs using a structured questionnaire from India's two major industrial towns to analyze the impact of personality traits on firm performance. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to assess the direct and indirect relationships with the help of mediation analysis. Findings: The findings assert that personality traits improve firm performance and determine the success of MSMEs. The results reveal that the need for achievement, a proactive mindset and the pursuit of excellence are crucial to firm performance. In addition, formal education mediates between perseverance and the pursuit of excellence personality attributes on the one side and firm performance on the other. Research limitations/implications: The research has various theoretical and practical implications for entrepreneurs, financial institutions and policymakers. The results could be productively used to nurture the entrepreneurial ecosystem in India. Originality/value: Although research on personality traits as a driver of firm performance is growing, the pursuit of excellence, perseverance and proactive mindset attributes as enablers of firm performance have not garnered much attention. The study presents a precise conceptual model by integrating the aforementioned dimensions in the backdrop of an emerging market. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The management of human resources focusing on workplace happiness is gaining significant attention in the study of organizational behavior, particularly in organizations hiring Gen Z. This generation perceives workplace happiness differently, making the factor crucial in understanding work behavior. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the role of workplace happiness as a mediator between motivation and performance among employees in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in developing countries.METHODS: The study adopted a survey design, obtaining data from 186 young workers across 23 MSMEs in developing countries. Path analysis was also used to test the proposed model.FINDINGS: The first results in this study showed that motivation significantly affected happiness at work with a p-value of 0.000 below the specified significance level of ≤0.005 (5%). The second result also showed that motivation significantly influenced performance with a similar p-value of 0.000. The third result suggested that happiness at work exhibited a significant effect on performance with a p-value threshold. Finally, the study found that happiness at work mediated the relationship between motivation and performance as evidenced by a p-value of 0.000.CONCLUSION: The study suggested that motivation positively affected happiness at work and further enhanced performance. Additionally, job satisfaction could serve as a mediator between motivation and performance. Cultivating a work environment that prioritizes teamwork, and mutual respect, as well as discourages self-serving behavior could further improve employee happiness, job satisfaction, and overall performance. This improvement would also benefit MSMEs by enhancing work quality and productivity.

Credit is an important component in developing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), as it can boost a country’s economy, help boost the production capacity of MSMEs, create jobs, and reduce poverty. This study aims to examine the characteristics of banks in Indonesia that influence lending to micro, small, and medium enterprises by adopting agency theory that explains the relationship between lenders (banks) and borrowers (MSMEs) as agents and principals. Data were taken from quarterly financial reports of banks in Indonesia. There are 42 sample banks from 2010 to 2022, so the data used are 2,182 observations. Data analysis uses a fixed effect model with robust standard errors. The results show that operating costs do not influence credit access for MSMEs or medium-sized enterprises. Bank stability has an impact on increasing MSME credit access. High bank capital also increases MSME credit access. Robustness tests were also conducted using the general method of moments. The results were consistent with the main model. The implication is that cost management theory and credit decision-making need to consider differences in business scale. The results also further strengthen the argument that bank stability is an important factor that can improve access to credit for small and medium enterprises. AcknowledgmentsAppreciation is given to the Doctoral program Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta Indonesia and the Institute of Research and Community Services (LPPM) Unisnu Jepara Indonesia, which has supported this research.

trademark registration ,legal approach ,msmes ,Law - Abstract
The growing economy is accompanied by increased business competition among business actors, including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Trademark infringement is a risk inherent in such business competition. Therefore, it is crucial to mitigate disputes and trademark infringement by other business actors through trademark registration. However, the number of MSMEs registering trademarks remains very low, accounting for only 0.06% of the total. The results of this study highlight the urgency of a legal approach to MSME trademark registration. This urgency is underscored by the history of trademark regulation in Indonesia and international influences, the need for MSMEs to register trademarks to obtain protection, encourage innovation and creativity, and enhance their value and financing. Despite these benefits, the number of MSMEs that register their trademarks remains low due to a lack of awareness about the benefits of trademark registration and unfamil Therefore, it is necessary to improve trademark registration policies. This can be achieved by the Regency/City Government allocating a proportional and planned budget for socialization and assistance activities for MSMEs registering trademarks in their area. Additionally, the Government can encourage the private sector and financial institutions to contribute to the financing of MSME trademark registrations. Such measures are expected to increase the rate of trademark registration among MSMEs with government policies aimed at promoting such registration.

Background Indonesia currently could not make it to the top ten global halal due to some external and internal factors, although it is the largest Muslim country. In the external sector, the competition map is getting tougher, while internally, there are handicaps in the form of weak public awareness of competition. As a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, Indonesia can become one of the largest markets in the world. As indicated in the Global Islamic Economic Report (GIER), Indonesia is one of the top ten countries that control the Islamic economic market, yet it fails to dominate its Islamic market. Accordingly, the government needs to play a stronger role through regulatory policies to encourage the development of the Islamic economic ecosystem in Indonesia (halal value chain). The purpose of this study is to find out and analyse the existence of Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia in the world’s market for Halal products and Services. Methods The researchers have conducted a form of normative juridical research with the analytical descriptive method, namely by collecting, describing, analysing, and presenting what is ( das sein) and what ought to be ( das sollen). Results Support from the government and stakeholders has not been optimal in improving welfare - capital access, management, and halal certification, so the existence of the global halal ecosystem has not yet impacted MSMEs’ ability to compete competitively. Conclusions The conclusion of this study shows that the quadruple helix innovation system is capable of guaranteeing the development of MSMEs in a manner to achieves a high level of competitiveness - efficiency, and effectiveness of the products and services produced.

BUSINESS success ,INTELLECTUAL capital ,ORGANIZATIONAL performance ,SMALL business ,LIKERT scale - Abstract
This study aims to examine the correlation between intellectual capital, innovation, and corporate performance in micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) located in East Java, Indonesia. The proxy for each variable uses a Likert scale measurement by distributing questionnaires to MSME actors. The research sample consisted of 125 MSME actors who completed a returned questionnaire, whereas the study population consisted of 500 MSME company players. The PLS 3 software program is used in the quantitative descriptive data analysis technique. The findings demonstrated that innovation has a major impact on business success and that intellectual capital has a considerable impact on both. Additionally, innovation mediates the relationship between intellectual capital and business performance. Increased innovation will eventually lead to improved company performance if the intellectual capital developed by MSME business actors is more focused on innovation. Specifically the speed and quality of innovation, such as creating new and high-quality products, high-quality services, and problem-solving strategies that are also more accurate than those of other companies. This research contributes to the implications of intellectual capital in the business world which can be carried out early on, in the sense that even though companies are on a micro scale, MSME business actors can manage intellectual capital well in creating company performance. The rapid digitalization of financial transactions has led to the widespread adoption of technology-based payment systems among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). One significant innovation in Indonesia is the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS), introduced by Bank Indonesia in 2019 to streamline digital payments through a unified QR code. This study explores the impact of user convenience, trust, and risk perception on QRIS user satisfaction, and further examines how these factors influence the overall use of QRIS among MSMEs in Palopo City. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 52 MSME actors and analyzed with SPSS V.25 to assess the relationships between variables. The results indicate that user convenience and risk perception have a significant impact on user satisfaction, while trust did not show a direct effect. Furthermore, risk perception was found to have a direct significant influence on the use of QRIS, whereas user satisfaction did not mediate the relationship between user convenience, trust, and QRIS use. The findings highlight the importance of addressing risk concerns and enhancing user satisfaction to promote broader QRIS adoption. The study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on digital payment adoption and offers practical insights for improving the user experience, particularly in regions with varying digital literacy and technological infrastructure. - Abstract
Micro-Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a key role in economic growth and employment generation. MSMEs are facing challenges related to Green House Gases (GHGs) emissions and compliance with other environmental regulations. Green Lean Six Sigma (GLSS) is a comprehensive approach that reduces negative environmental impacts and improves product quality. However, the current level of adoption of GLSS in MSMEs is limited due to various challenges faced by these organisations. This can be attributed to different barriers in the adoption of sustainable business practices like GLSS adopted by organizations. Therefore, the current research deals with prioritising and investigating GLSS barriers in Indian MSMEs. Thirty-five barriers of GLSS in MSMEs were identified through a systematic literature review and then prioritization of the same was performed using the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), and validated through grey relational analysis. In this study, the authors used a purposive sampling technique to collect the responses for the analysis of GLSS barriers. The pilot-tested questionnaire was sent to 560 personnel (LSS personnel, academician and industry professionals) out of which 364 responses were received, and 14 responses were further neglected due to the incompleteness of the questionnaire. A final sample of 350 responses was considered for the analysis. The results of this study indicate that 'Lack of top leadership support for GLSS adoption', 'Involvement of inadequate employees that missing to implementing new strategies' and 'Lack of technology action plan for GLSS' are the top-ranked barriers with TOPSIS performance values of 0.8709, 0.869, and 0.8678 respectively. This research work will foster the implementation of GLSS within MSMEs by facilitating a comprehensive understanding of GLSS barriers and prioritization of the same. Further, the findings of this study will be beneficial for MSMEs to cope with their current level of emissions, and further formulate policies to mitigate challenges to pollution and climate change.
