This article presents results of research This article presents an excerpt from a doctoral thesis that researched on the manner of organizing Chemistry teacher training courses in the State of Minas Gerais, based on the formative dimensions necessary for professional development and teacher’s work. In this text, we focus on the 'basic and disciplinary conceptual dimension' and the 'instrumental, technical and practical dimension' in order to outline the profile of the Chemistry Licentiate Degree courses studied and making inferences about the possibilities and training needs that encompass in the construction of teacher’s professional identity. Therefore, we analyzed the pedagogical projects of the Chemistry Licentiate Degree course of three federal public universities of the mentioned State with regard to the organization of their pedagogical proposals and their curricular matrices. We identified that one of the courses tends to offer teacher education with bachelor's degree characteristics, reverberating in restrictions to the construction of the teaching identity. The other two courses, despite the need for some adjustments in their pedagogical proposals, provide for the constitution of the Chemistry teacher’s professional identity.

Fecha de lectura: 15-09-2021, La forma genética más prevalente en la cardiomiopatía arritmogénica (ACM, del inglés “arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy”) es causada por mutaciones en la placofilina-2 (PKP2). La mayoría de las mutaciones en PKP2 descritas en pacientes con ACM, generan proteínas truncadas. Sin embargo, los mecanismos a través de los cuales estas mutaciones en PKP2 provocan el desarrollo de la ACM, son poco conocidos. El objetivo de este estudio fue investigar los mecanismos moleculares subyacentes al desarrollo de un fenotipo estructural de ACM, inducido por mutaciones que provocan la delección de la región C-terminal de PKP2 (CT) e identificar posibles dianas terapéuticas. En este trabajo se caracterizó el efecto de la proteína mutante de PKP2 con delección de la región CT, R735X. Para ello, mediante el uso de imagen por resonancia magnética cardíaca (MRI), se observó que la función cardíaca del ventrículo derecho (VD) estaba comprometida en ratones transducidos con AAV-R735X. Además, combinando diversas técnicas como microscopía confocal, microscopio de fuerza atómica (AFM) o transferencia de energía de resonancia de Föster (FRET), se observó que la presencia del mutante R735X, alteraba la distribución de los componentes del citoesqueleto de actomiosina, su estructura y las propiedades de los filamentos, afectando a la arquitectura celular. Este trabajo revela que PKP2 es capaz de influir en la regulación del citoesqueleto de actina a través de la modulación de la actividad de la MYH10, lo que sugiere que la proteína mutante R735X actúa como un mutante con ganancia de función El modelo tridimensional de la estructura de PKP2, reveló que la región CT era necesaria para estabilizar la estructura de la proteína. Por tanto, la proteína mutante R735X sufría un cambio conformacional y exponía una región interna que en la estructura de PKP2 “wild-type” quedaba oculta, alterando su función, su localización y su interacción con otras proteínas. La oclusión estérica de esta región interna, en la proteína R735X-Ctag, condujo a una recuperación parcial del fenotipo estructural que provocaba el mutante R735X, indicando que puede ser una nueva diana terapéutica en la ACM

Two strategies based on multivariate qualitative and quantitative analysis are proposed for determining whether paprika samples are adulterated with Sudan I or II dyes. The samples were characterized by their UV–visible spectrum. Then, the following chemometric techniques were applied: principal component analysis (PCA) for the data exploration stage, partial least squares-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) for the qualitative strategy and partial least squares (PLS) for the Sudan quantification strategy. Three classes were considered in the qualitative analysis: unadulterated, adulterated with Sudan I and adulterated with Sudan II. For the quantitative analysis, models were developed for each adulterant in a concentration range of 0–12 mg g−1, where 0 mg g−1 stands for the unadulterated samples. Both strategies gave satisfactory results. The multi-class PLS-DA model properly differentiate between the three types of studied samples: non-adulterated and adulterated with Sudan I and with Sudan II. Only samples at the lowest concentration (1 mg g−1) were wrongly detected as unadulterated. The PLS models were validated by setting the regression line of the model-predicted concentration versus the real concentration for the test set samples. The slope and intercept of each regression line were compared with those of the ideal line (0, 1) by means of the joint test of ordinate and slope.

Proceeding of: 2020 Mediterranean Communication and Computer Networking Conference (MedComNet), Aroa, Italy, 17-19 June 2020 In this paper, we investigate the existence and prevalence of comparable dynamics in the temporal fluctuations for the traffic demands generated by mobile applications.To this end, we hinge upon a spectral analysis framework, by computing Discrete Fourier Transforms of the typical demands for tens of popular mobile services observed in an operational metropolitan-scale network. We filter, cluster, and analyse hundreds of frequency components, and identify a substantial set of regular patterns that are common across most service demands. We also unveil how several mobile services defy classification, and have instead highly distinguishing temporal dynamics. The economic sustainability of future mobile networks will largely depend on the strong specialization of its offered services. Network operators will need to provide added value to their tenants, by moving from the traditional one-size-fits-all strategy to a set of virtual end-to-end instances of a common physical infrastructure, named network slices , which are especially tailored to the requirements of each application. Implementing network slicing has significant consequences in terms of resource management: service customization entails assigning to each slice fully dedicated resources, which may also be dynamically reassigned and overbooked in order to increase the cost-efficiency of the system. In this paper, we adopt a data-driven approach to quantify the efficiency of resource sharing in future sliced networks. Building on metropolitan-scale real-world traffic measurements, we carry out an extensive parametric analysis that highlights how diverse performance guarantees, technological settings, and slice configurations impact the resource utilization at different levels of the infrastructure in presence of network slicing. Our results provide insights on the achievable efficiency of network slicing architectures, their dimensioning, and their interplay with resource management algorithms at different locations and reconfiguration timescales. Network slicing has profound implications on resource management, as it entails an inherent trade-off between: (i) the need for fully dedicated resources to support service customization, and (ii) the dynamic resource sharing among services to increase resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the system. In this paper, we provide a first investigation of this trade-off via an empirical study of resource management efficiency in network slicing. Building on substantial measurement data collected in an operational mobile network (i) we quantify the efficiency gap introduced by non-reconfigurable allocation strategies of different kinds of resources, from radio access to the core of the network, and (ii) we quantify the advantages of their dynamic orchestration at different timescales. Our results provide insights on the achievable efficiency of network slicing architectures, their dimensioning, and their interplay with resource management algorithms. Proceeding of: 13th International Conference on emerging Networking EXperiments and Technologies (CoNEXT '17) We investigate how individual mobile services are consumed at a national scale, by studying data collected in a 3G/4G mobile network deployed over a major European country. Through correlation and clustering analyses, our study unveils a strong heterogeneity in the demand for different mobile services, both in time and space. In particular, we show that: (i) somehow surprisingly, almost all considered services exhibit quite different temporal usage patterns; (ii) in contrast to such temporal behavior, spatial patterns are fairly uniform across all services; (iii) when looking at usage patterns at different locations, the average traffic volume per user is dependent on the urbanization level, yet its temporal dynamics are not. Our findings do not only have sociological implications, but are also relevant to the orchestration of network resources. Objective: To evaluate pulmonary function and functional capacity in children and adolescents with sickle cell disease. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study involving 70 children and adolescents (8-15 years of age) with sickle cell disease who underwent pulmonary function tests (spirometry) and functional capacity testing (six-minute walk test). The results of the pulmonary function tests were compared with variables related to the severity of sickle cell disease and history of asthma and of acute chest syndrome. Results: Of the 64 patients who underwent spirometry, 15 (23.4%) showed abnormal results: restrictive lung disease, in 8 (12.5%); and obstructive lung disease, in 7 (10.9%). Of the 69 patients who underwent the six-minute walk test, 18 (26.1%) showed abnormal results regarding the six-minute walk distance as a percentage of the predicted value for age, and there was a ≥ 3% decrease in SpO2 in 36 patients (52.2%). Abnormal pulmonary function was not significantly associated with any of the other variables studied, except for hypoxemia and restrictive lung disease. Conclusions: In this sample of children and adolescents with sickle cell disease, there was a significant prevalence of abnormal pulmonary function. The high prevalence of respiratory disorders suggests the need for a closer look at the lung function of this population, in childhood and thereafter. RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar a função pulmonar e a capacidade funcional em crianças e adolescentes com doença falciforme. Métodos: Estudo transversal com 70 crianças e adolescentes com doença falciforme (8-15 anos), submetidos a testes de função respiratória (espirometria) e de capacidade funcional (teste de caminhada de seis minutos). Os resultados da avaliação da função pulmonar foram comparados com variáveis relacionadas à gravidade da doença falciforme e à presença de história de asma e de síndrome torácica aguda. Resultados: Dos 64 pacientes submetidos à espirometria, 15 (23,4%) apresentaram resultados alterados: distúrbio ventilatório restritivo, em 8; (12,5%) e distúrbio respiratório obstrutivo, em 7 (10,9%). Dos 69 pacientes submetidos ao teste de caminhada de seis minutos, 18 (26,1%) apresentaram resultados alterados na distância em % do previsto para a idade, e houve uma queda ≥ 3% na SpO2 em 36 (52,2%) dos pacientes. Não houve associações significativas entre função pulmonar alterada e as outras variáveis analisadas, exceto para hipoxemia e distúrbio ventilatório restritivo. Conclusões: Observou-se uma significativa prevalência de alterações na função pulmonar nesta amostra de crianças e adolescentes com doença falciforme. A elevada prevalência de distúrbios ventilatórios sugere a necessidade de um olhar mais atento à função pulmonar desde a infância nessa população.

Two data fusion strategies (high- and mid-level) combined with a multivariate classification approach (Soft Independent Modelling of Class Analogy, SIMCA) have been applied to take advantage of the synergistic effect of the information obtained from two spectroscopic techniques: FT-Raman and NIR. Mid-level data fusion consists of merging some of the previous selected variables from the spectra obtained from each spectroscopic technique and then applying the classification technique. High-level data fusion combines the SIMCA classification results obtained individually from each spectroscopic technique. Of the possible ways to make the necessary combinations, we decided to use fuzzy aggregation connective operators. As a case study, we considered the possible adulteration of hazelnut paste with almond. Using the two-class SIMCA approach, class 1 consisted of unadulterated hazelnut samples and class 2 of samples adulterated with almond. Models performance was also studied with samples adulterated with chickpea. The results show that data fusion is an effective strategy since the performance parameters are better than the individual ones: sensitivity and specificity values between 75% and 100% for the individual techniques and between 96-100% and 88-100% for the mid- and high-level data fusion strategies, respectively.
