Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of social media analytics on firm performance using a sample of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Thailand. This study also investigated whether entrepreneurial orientation (EO) moderated the effects of social media analytics on firm performance. Design/methodology/approach: This study used SMEs listed in the Department of Business Development of Thailand as the sampling frame. Probability sampling was used to draw the sample. A questionnaire survey was used to collect data from 334 firms. The data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. Findings: The results supported the positive association between social media analytics practices on firm performance. Moreover, this study found that EO moderated this association significantly. In particular, the positive association between social media analytics practices on firm performance was higher for firms that exhibit a high EO than those that exhibit a low EO. This result indicated that firms that implement social media analytics practices achieved higher performance when they exhibited a high EO. Practical implications: Social media data analytics should be implemented to strengthen the technological competence of firms. Moreover, firms should integrate EO practices into their implementation of social media analytics to increase their ability to generate substantial improvements in their strategic implementation, thereby enabling them to gain sustainable competitiveness in their market. Social implications: Because SMEs are the driving force for economic growth and development in Thailand, their ability to achieve higher performance when they effectively integrate EO practices into their implementation of social media data analytics could be beneficial for the sustainable development of Thailand, especially in the current data-driven era. Originality/value: The result that EO moderates the effect in enhancing social media analytics practices' influence on firm performance provides new knowledge that extends the boundary of research on this topic. The authors provided a theoretical explanation to clarify the way the implementation of social media analytics practices should be integrated with EO to increase the level of performance that firms achieve from such practices. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have an important role in the economic growth of a country. The contribution of MSMEs to Indonesia's GDP experienced a depression due to the emergence of Covid-19 at the beginning of 2020. However, two years after the government declared pandemic for Indonesia, the performance of MSMEs has begun to recover from its downturn. This is shown by the increase in the contribution of MSMEs to Indonesia's GDP and employment in Indonesia. Moreover, the performance of MSMEs in Bandar Lampung City has also experienced an improvement as shown by an increase in MSME profits. This research aims to analyze the influence of knowledge management and entrepreneurial orientation on business performance in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as well as the mediating effect of competitive advantage in this relationship. This research uses a quantitative approach to draw conclusions from the proposed hypothesis. Sample was selected using the census method so that the total sample was 44 respondents who were SMEs registered in Dinas Koperasi dan UKM Kota Bandar Lampung. Data collection method uses a questionnaire and the data is analyzed using SEM-PLS with the bootstrap method. The results show that knowledge management, entrepreneurial orientation, and competitive advantage have a direct and significant influence on business performance. Furthermore, competitive advantage was also found to play a mediating role in the relationship between knowledge management and entrepreneurial orientation on business performance. The article focuses on the impact of entrepreneurial orientation on the performance of Vietnamese small and medium enterprises. These enterprises have made significant contributions to economic growth in Vietnam. Although the efforts of The Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises and the government to support businesses have increased, the number of businesses facing difficulties leading to dissolution tends to increase. One of the reasons is that those businesses lack business orientation. This study aims to provide empirical evidence on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and business performance to raise awareness among business owners and managers about the role of entrepreneurial orientation on business performance. The results provide empirical evidence on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and business performance. The study surveyed employees and managers of Vietnamese small and medium enterprises. The number of returned surveys was 290, and the valid number was 279. The data was processed by SPSS 25 to test the proposed research model. The results support that proactiveness, innovativeness, and risk-taking positively affect enterprises' performance. Besides, recommendations were submitted to encourage entrepreneurial orientation and improve Vietnamese small and medium enterprises' business performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of this comparative study is to explore the differences in the entrepreneurial orientation (EO) between micro versus small and medium enterprises (SMEs). We have selected three dimensions of EO (proactiveness, competitive aggressiveness and autonomy) for our analysis. We have analyzed the data collected from 1141 respondents during the period of 2015 from 14 regions of the Czech Republic, which consists of 740 micro firms and 401 small and medium firms. Empirical results of our paper show significant differences between micro versus small and medium enterprises in terms of proactiveness and autonomy. However, we can only partially confirm that micro firms are statistically different from the SMEs in terms of competitive aggressiveness. Small firms are at a disadvantage compared to large firms because of their size. Yet they play a very significant role in the growth of economy. These firms have little tangible assets at an early stage, but some of them have long-term growth potential. There is enough literature about individual entrepreneur, but relatively little is known about firm-level entrepreneurship, that is, entrepreneurial orientation (EO). EO consists of five dimensions: innovativeness, risk taking, proactiveness, autonomy and competitive aggressiveness. This study reviews the existing literature on the influence of EO on the growth of small firms. It tries to figure out whether this growth comes out as a demonstration of all the dimensions of EO together or a combination of them.
